Abstract Background Neuropathic pain (NP) is a debilitating condition caused by lesion or dysfunction in the somatosensory nervous system. Accumulation of advanced oxidation protein products (AOPPs) is implicated in mechanical hyperalgesia. However, the effects of AOPPs on NP remain unclear. Methods A rat model of NP was established by chronic constriction injury (CCI) and employed to evaluate the changes of mechanical withdrawal threshold, thermal and cold withdrawal latency, as well as AOPPs levels. The effects of AOPPs on the activation of satellite glial cells (SGCs) in the dorsal root ganglion (DRG), receptor for advanced glycation end-products (RAGE) expression, and NF-κB signaling pathway activation were also investigated using western blotting, immunofluorescence, and the Fluo4-AM fluorescence probe for calcium signaling. Additionally, oxidative stress levels and inflammatory cytokine production in SGCs, triggered by AOPPs exposure, were measured through the DCFH-DA probe for ROS detection and ELISA kits for cytokine quantification. Results CCI significantly elevated the AOPPs levels in the plasma and sciatic nerve and caused AOPPs accumulation in the DRG. Exogenous AOPPs activated SGCs, increased reactive oxygen species and inflammatory response, upregulated the RAGE, and activated NF-κB signaling. The RAGE inhibitor FPS-ZM1 effectively inhibited AOPPs-induced SGC activation. Additionally, AOPPs intervention worsened CCI-induced hyperalgesia and neuroinflammation in vivo. Conclusion These results indicate that AOPPs exacerbate the SGC activation and NP following nerve injury, and AOPPs accumulation might play an important role in the pathogenesis of NP.

Abstract NKp46 is a critical regulator of natural killer (NK) cell immunity, but its function in non-NK innate immune cells remains unclear. Here, we show that NKp46 is indispensable for expressing IL-2 receptor-α (IL-2Rα) by non-NK liver-resident type-1 innate lymphoid cells (ILC1s). Deletion of NKp46 reduces IL-2Rα on ILC1s by downregulating NF-κB signaling, thus impairing ILC1 proliferation and cytotoxicity in vitro and in vivo. The binding of anti-NKp46 antibody to NKp46 triggers the activation of NF-κB, the expression of IL-2Rα, interferon-γ (IFN-γ), tumor necrosis factor (TNF), proliferation, and cytotoxicity. Functionally, NKp46 expressed on mouse ILC1s interacts with tumor cells through cell–cell contact, increasing ILC1 production of IFN-γ and TNF, and enhancing cytotoxicity. In a mouse model of acute myeloid leukemia, deletion of NKp46 impairs the ability of ILC1s to control tumor growth and reduces survival. This can be reversed by injecting NKp46+ ILC1s into NKp46 knock-out mice. Human NKp46+ ILC1s exhibit stronger cytokine production and cytotoxicity than their NKp46− counterparts, suggesting that NKp46 plays a similar role in humans. These findings identify an NKp46–NF-κB–IL-2Rα axis and suggest that activating NKp46 with an anti-NKp46 antibody may provide a potential strategy for anti-tumor innate immunity.

Existing CNN-based approaches face challenges in effectively and efficiently managing diverse scales of small infrared objects within intricate scenes, primarily as a result of the aggregation effect induced by pooling layers. As a consequence, crucial deep targets may be lost. To tackle this challenge, This research proposes an infrared deep dense connection network, termed ID-UNet. Specifically, this research devises a feature extraction module, named Infrared Small Target Feature Extraction (ISTFE), that is embedded within the ID-UNet architecture to enable cross-layer and continuous interaction between deep high-level and shallow low-level features. Consecutive connections within ISTFE’s fusion facilitate the preservation of semantic information for infrared small targets in deep layers, as well as the resolution information in shallow layers. Additionally, the UNet structure parameters were compressed, reducing the parameters by 81% compared to the traditional UNet configuration. Upon evaluating the proposed technique on three typical public datasets, the results demonstrate that the proposed method surpasses all other methods in segmentation metrics, including Intersection over Union (IoU), normalized IoU (nIoU), and F1 score. The proposed method achieves a double-win between high-precision segmentation and low computation requirements. The code is available from https://github.com/AngryWaves/ID-UNet.

Abstract Oxidative stress plays a crucial role in organ aging and related diseases, yet the endogenous regulators involved remain largely unknown. This work highlights the importance of metabolic homeostasis in protecting against oxidative stress in the large intestine. By developing a low-input and user-friendly pipeline for the simultaneous profiling of five distinct cysteine (Cys) states, including free SH, total Cys oxidation (Sto), sulfenic acid (SOH), S-nitrosylation (SNO), and S-glutathionylation (SSG), we shed light on Cys redox modification stoichiometries and signaling with regional resolution in the aging gut of monkeys. Notably, the proteins modified by SOH and SSG were associated primarily with cell adhesion. In contrast, SNO-modified proteins were involved in immunity. Interestingly, we observed that the Sto levels ranged from 0.97% to 99.88%, exhibiting two distinct peaks and increasing with age. Crosstalk analysis revealed numerous age-related metabolites potentially involved in modulating oxidative stress and Cys modifications. Notably, we elucidated the role of fumarate in alleviating intestinal oxidative stress in a dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis mouse model. Our findings showed that fumarate treatment promotes the recovery of several cell types, signaling pathways, and genes involved in oxidative stress regulation. Calorie restriction (CR) is a known strategy for alleviating oxidative stress. Two-month CR intervention led to the recovery of many antioxidative metabolites and reshaped the Cys redoxome. This work decodes the complexities of redoxomics during the gut aging of non-human primates and identifies key metabolic regulators of oxidative stress and redox signaling.

Oxide inclusions significantly impeded the mechanical properties of the Wire and Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) made high nitrogen Cr–Mn austenite stainless steels (HNSs). This paper focused on the inclusions' component, crystallization characteristics and formation mechanism. Results revealed that there are two types of inclusions: the round-shape nano-size inclusion (Type-I) and the micron-size island-shape inclusion (Type-II). The Type-I inclusion usually consists of the MnO particle or the combination of the MnO, Si-oxides and precipitations (MnS or Cr2N). Most of the Type-I oxide inclusion is located in the range between 300 nm and 700 nm,the number of Type-I oxide inclusion takes the main part of 69.7%.With higher content, smaller size and more even distributions, the isolated Type-I oxide inclusions would be beneficial to the mechanical properties owing to the Orowan strengthening mechanism. The Type-II inclusion is mostly composed of the MnO matrix and the coherent chromite spinel (MnCr2O4). In general, the larger the size, the more serious the negative impact on mechanical properties. And there was a strong negative correlation between the size and quantity of type II oxide inclusions. After heat treatment, abundant phase transformations occurred in the Type-II inclusions and some harmful phases (Sigma, MnS et cl.) were often found in or around the inclusions with specific orientation relationships. During deposition, the unstable droplet transformation and the trapped residual slag were the main causes for the inclusions in the molten pool.

In order to achieve high-quality welding of titanium copper dissimilar metals, the in-situ remelting welded joints of TC4 and T2 were obtained by using a time-sharing dual electron beam(TDEB). A welded joint consisting of the IMCs layer, FZ zone, copper weld zone, and titanium side HAZ is formed in the TC4/T2 interface area. The microstructure and morphology of IMCs layers in welded joints with TDEB welding and copper offset welding were observed by using SEM and TEM. Multiple forms of IMCs were observed in the IMCs layer, including columnar Ti2Cu, granular Ti3Cu4, and sheet-like TiCu4, clarifying the orientation relationship between some precipitates and matrix phases. The TC4/T2 joint welded with TDEB welding achieved micro zone remelting of the IMCs layer. The thickness of the IMCs layer has significantly decreased, and the number of copper-rich phases in the IMCs layer has increased, which improves the mechanical properties of the welded joint. The TC4/T2 joint welded by time-sharing dual beam electron beam has a tensile strength of 215.9 MPa and an elongation of 6.14%. The joint exhibits brittle quasi dissociation fracture. The main factor causing fracture is the high brittleness and hardness of titanium-rich phases such as TiCu and Ti2Cu. This study provide a new welding method for titanium copper dissimilar metals, as well as research ideas for dissimilar metal welding.

Background: Over the past two decades, modern spine surgery has become increasingly intellectualized and minimally invasive. However, whether using robots in spine surgery results in more accurate pedicle screw placement remains a topic of debate. This study aimed to evaluate the certainty and quality of the available evidence on the efficacy of robot-assisted pedicle screw placement. Methods: We performed an overview of reviews including systematic reviews (SRs) and meta-analyses (MAs) regarding the accuracy of robot-assisted pedicle screw placement. Regarding the SRs/MAs, five electronic databases were searched from inception to 28 April 2023. There were no restrictions on the language or population. The quality and certainty of the evidence were evaluated with PRISMA, AMSTAR-2, ROBIS, Veritas plot, and GRADE tools. Results: Fifteen SRs/MAs were analyzed. The findings indicated that the accuracy of pedicle screw placement in the robot-assisted group was not superior to that in the freehand group. All the SRs/MAs were of low or critically low quality. The main reasons for this include missing data, lack of transparency, lack of sensitivity analysis, and measurement of heterogeneity in the included studies, registration of reporting protocols, and deficiencies in the study inclusion methods and selection criteria. Conclusions: While there is potential for robot-assisted pedicle screw placement to offer superior accuracy compared to conventional surgery, the current evidence is limited by methodological shortcomings. The quality of the studies analyzed was insufficient to provide a robust basis for developing clinical guidelines. Further high-quality research is necessary to confirm the benefits and establish clearer recommendations.

Abstract Although hypertension is highly prevalent among the elderly and significantly contributes to cardiovascular disease risk, studies focusing on male elderly individuals over 85 years old are relatively scarce. This study aimed to investigate ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) characteristics in male hypertensive patients aged over 85 years. These included demographic characteristics, antihypertensive drug use, 24‐h ABPM values, diabetes, coronary heart disease, sleep disorders, smoking history, and drinking history, and the differences in ABPM between the age groups over and under 85 years old were analyzed. A total of 585 elderly hypertensive patients were included. This study investigates the performance of pretrained Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) in predicting passenger ride comfort classes based on encoded acceleration signal images. Two approaches were explored: fine-tuning a pretrained CNN for classification and using transfer learning with deep-feature extraction, dimensionality reduction, and Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (BiLSTM) architecture. Four pretrained CNN architectures (DenseNet-201, ResNet-101, AlexNet, and GoogleNet) were evaluated. To demonstrate the superiority of pretrained networks, five conventional machine learning algorithms (SVM, DT, BTE, ANN, and KNN) and were trained from scratch using handcrafted features and compared to the two architectures. Results show that the second architecture consistently outperformed the first, achieving better accuracy (up to 14–18.5 %) on unseen data, with no apparent bias sensitivity to the unbalanced dataset. The overall accuracy of the two configurations was consistently above 80 % and 98 %, respectively. This demonstrates that pretrained CNN models, leveraging deep feature extraction, dimensionality reduction, and BiLSTM, can consistently achieve excellent performance in classifying passenger ride comfort. The study highlights the effectiveness of transfer learning and deep learning techniques in this application.

This paper presents an electric vehicle-drone (EV–drone) collaborative-delivery routing optimization model that leverages the time-varying characteristics of electric vehicles and drones across multiple distribution centers (i.e., central depots) to address the logistics industry’s low-carbon transformation in the last-mile delivery. The model aims to minimize total delivery costs by formulating a mixed-integer programming (MIP) model that accounts for essential constraints such as nonlinear charging time, time-varying EV travel time, delivery time window, payload capacity, and maximum range. An improved adaptive large-neighborhood search (ALNS) algorithm is developed to solve the model. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm and highlight the impact of EV and drone technology parameters, along with the time-varying EV travel times, on the economic efficiency of delivery distribution and route planning.

Highlights Integrating perovskite solar cells onto irregular rough CuIn(Ga)Se2 (CIGS) surfaces remains a challenge; new strategy was explored to develop monolithic perovskite/CIGS tandem solar cell by manipulating the crystallization of perovskite. Surface reconstruction and field-effect passivation are developed synergistically to issue complex interface relationship between perovskite and C60. The champion power conversion efficiency （PCE） of 24.6% realized, providing significant commercial opportunities for all thin-film-based perovskite/CIGS tandem cells.

The swap-body vehicle routing problem (SBVRP) represents a specialized extension of the traditional vehicle routing problem (VRP), incorporating additional practical complexities. Effective fuel consumption management and the scheduling of multiple vehicle trips are pivotal strategies for reducing costs and ensuring the sustainability of distribution systems. In response to the acceleration of urbanization, the rising demand for logistics, and the deteriorating living environment, we introduce an SBVRP considering fuel consumption and multiple trips to enable greener, cheaper, and more efficient delivery methods. To tackle the SBVRP, we propose a hybrid multi-population genetic algorithm enhanced with local search techniques to explore various areas of the search space. Computational experiments demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method and the effectiveness of its components. The algorithm developed in this study provides an optimized solution to the VRP, focusing on achieving environmentally friendly, sustainable, and cost-effective transportation by reducing energy consumption and promoting the rational use of resources.

Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is an important treatment strategy for patients with coronary artery disease. However, bleeding after PCI significantly increases the mortality risk. The search for prognostic predictors and optimal antiplatelet therapy for patients with high bleeding risk (HBR) after PCI has been a much researched upon topic in current cardiovascular research. However, there is no widely accepted prognostic model or recommended antiplatelet therapy for patients with PCI-HBR. In this trial, based on prospective multi-center database building, we will analyze the adverse prognostic predictors for patients with PCI-HBR, observe the types of antiplatelet drugs and duration of dual antiplatelet therapy in PCI-HBR patients, and compare the safety and feasibility of different antiplatelet regimens and treatment courses. The prognostic analysis and an appropriate antiplatelet strategy for patients with PCI and high bleeding risk (PPP-PCI) trial will help analyze bleeding risk factors in PCI-HBR patients and explore the appropriate antiplatelet treatment options. This study is registered with ClinicalTrials.gov (NCT05369442). The Research Ethics Committee of West China Hospital authorized this study (2022 Review #269). The trial results will be published in peer-reviewed journals and at conferences.

Abstract Background Overexpression of receptor tyrosine kinase-like orphan receptor 1 (ROR1) contributes to cancer cell proliferation, survival and migration, playing crucial roles in tumor development. ROR1 has been proposed as a potential therapeutic target for cancer treatment. This study aimed to develop novel humanized ROR1 monoclonal antibodies and investigate their anti-tumor effects. Methods ROR1 expression in tumor tissues and cell lines was analyzed by immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry. Antibodies from mouse hybridomas were humanized by the complementarity-determining region (CDR) grafting technique. Surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy, ELISA assay and flow cytometry were employed to characterize humanized antibodies. In vitro cellular assay and in vivo mouse experiment were conducted to comprehensively evaluate anti-tumor activity of these antibodies. Results ROR1 exhibited dramatically higher expression in lung adenocarcinoma, liver cancer and breast cancer, and targeting ROR1 by short-hairpin RNAs significantly inhibited proliferation and migration of cancer cells. Two humanized ROR1 monoclonal antibodies were successfully developed, named h1B8 and h6D4, with high specificity and affinity to ROR1 protein. Moreover, these two antibodies effectively suppressed tumor growth in the lung cancer xenograft mouse model, c-Myc/Alb-cre liver cancer transgenic mouse model and MMTV-PyMT breast cancer mouse model. Conclusions Two humanized monoclonal antibodies targeting ROR1, h1B8 and h6D4, were successfully developed and exhibited remarkable anti-tumor activity in vivo.

Abstract Mechanochemistry studies the effect of mechanical force on chemical bonds, bringing opportunities for synthesizing alloys, ceramics, organics, polymers, and biomaterials. A vital issue of applying macro-scale mechanical force to manipulate crystal structures is finding ways to precisely adjust the force directions to break micro-scale target chemical bonds. Inspired by a common technique of driving a wedge into the wood to make wood chopping much easier, a wedging strategy of splitting three-dimensional structured crystalline frameworks and then converting them to nanosheets was proposed, where specific molecules were wedged into crystalline frameworks to drive the directional transmission of mechanical force to break chemical bonds. As a result, various crystalline framework nanosheets including metal−organic framework nanosheets, covalent organic framework nanosheets, and coordination polymer nanosheets were fabricated. This wedging crystal strategy exhibits advantages of operability, flexibility and designability, and furthermore, it is expected to expand mechanochemistry applications in material preparation.

Abstract Background The triglyceride glucose (TyG) index, as a reliable marker of insulin resistance, is associated with the incidence and poor prognosis of various cardiovascular diseases. However, the relationship between the TyG index and clinical outcomes in patients with severe aortic stenosis (AS) who underwent transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) remains unclear. Methods This study consecutively enrolled 1569 patients with AS underwent TAVR at West China Hospital of Sichuan University between April 2014 and August 2023. The outcomes of interest included all-cause mortality, cardiovascular mortality, and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE). Multivariate adjusted Cox regression and restricted cubic splines (RCS) regression analyses were used to assess the associations between the TyG index and the clinical outcomes. The incremental prognostic value of the TyG index was further assessed by the time-dependent Harrell’s C-index, integrated discrimination improvement (IDI) and the net reclassification improvement (NRI). Results During a median follow-up of 1.09 years, there were 146, 70, and 196 patients experienced all-cause death, cardiovascular death, and MACE, respectively. After fully adjusting for confounders, a per-unit increase of TyG index was associated with a 441% (adjusted HR: 5.41, 95% CI: 4.01–7.32), 385% (adjusted HR: 4.85, 95% CI: 3.16–7.43), and 347% (adjusted HR: 4.47, 95% CI: 3.42–5.85) higher risk of all-cause mortality, cardiovascular mortality and MACE, respectively. The RCS regression analyses revealed a linear association between TyG index and endpoints (all P for non-linearity > 0.05) with 8.40 as the optimal binary cutoff point. Furthermore, adding TyG index to the basic risk model provided a significant incremental value in predicting poor prognosis (Time-dependent Harrell’s C-index increased for all the endpoints; All-cause mortality, IDI: 0.11, P

The ability to predict the anti-interference communications performance of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) data links is critical for intelligent route planning of UAVs in real combat scenarios. Previous research in this area has encountered several limitations: Classifiers exhibit low training efficiency, their precision is notably reduced when dealing with imbalanced samples, and they cannot be applied to the condition where the UAV’s flight altitude and the antenna bearing vary. This paper proposes the sequential Latin hypercube sampling (SLHS)-support vector machine (SVM)-AdaBoost algorithm, which enhances the training efficiency of the base classifier and circumvents local optima during the search process through SLHS optimization. Additionally, it mitigates the bottleneck of sample imbalance by adjusting the sample weight distribution using the AdaBoost algorithm. Through comparison, the modeling efficiency, prediction accuracy on the test set, and macro-averaged values of Precision, Recall, and F1-score for SLHS-SVM-AdaBoost are improved by 22.7%, 5.7%, 36.0%, 25.0%, and 34.2%, respectively, compared with Grid-SVM. Additionally, these values are improved by 22.2%, 2.1%, 11.3%, 2.8%, and 7.4%, respectively, compared with particle swarm optimization (PSO)-SVM-AdaBoost. Combining Latin hypercube sampling with the SLHS-SVM-AdaBoost algorithm, the classification prediction model of anti-interference performance of UAV data links, which took factors like three-dimensional space position of UAV and antenna bearing into consideration, is established and used to assess the safety of the classical flying path and optimize the flying route. It was found that the risk of loss of communications could not be completely avoided by adjusting the flying altitude based on the classical path, and that intelligent path planning based on the classification prediction model of anti-interference performance can realize complete avoidance of being interfered while reducing the route length by at least 2.3%, thus benefiting both safety and operation efficiency.

Renal denervation (RDN) is recognized as an adjunct therapy for hypertension management with a favorable and consistent blood pressure–lowering efficacy and safety profile. Alteration in medication burden is another noteworthy outcome of RDN for clinicians and patients. In this review, we summarized current clinical trials and patient perspectives, focusing on the use of antihypertensive medication (AHM) after RDN. The results of randomized controlled trials demonstrated that patients undergoing RDN exhibited lower blood pressure levels with a similar AHM burden or similar blood pressure levels with fewer AHMs than the sham control group. In studies with follow‐ups of ≤6 months, AHM use increased or remained generally consistent in patients undergoing RDN, which may be attributed to the prespecified study process. In studies with follow‐ups of >6 months, the blood pressure–lowering efficacy of RDN was consistent with a decreasing or similar AHM burden compared with baseline conditions, except for the 36‐month results in the SPYRAL HTN‐ON MED (Safety and Efficacy of Renal Denervation in Patients Taking Antihypertensive Medications) trial. Huge gaps exist between current evidence on medication changes after RDN and patient expectations, which may be addressed through adequate communication in a shared decision‐making process and further improvement of the RDN procedure. Moreover, novel evaluation methodologies for assessing medication burden changes, incorporating adherence to AHMs and modifications in drug classes, may be required to evaluate the impact of RDN on medication usage in the future.

Abstract Two‐dimensional Ruddlesden‐Popper (2D RP) layered metal‐halide perovskites have garnered increasing attention due to their favorable optoelectronic properties and enhanced stability in comparison to their three‐dimensional counterparts. Nevertheless, precise control over the crystal orientation of 2D RP perovskite films remains challenging, primarily due to the intricacies associated with the solvent evaporation process. In this study, we introduce a novel approach known as reverse‐cool annealing (RCA) for the fabrication of 2D RP perovskite films. This method involves a sequential annealing process at high and low temperatures for wet perovskite films. The resulting RCA‐based perovskite films show the smallest root‐mean‐square value of 23.1 nm, indicating a minimal surface roughness and a notably compact and smooth surface morphology. The low defect density in these 2D RP perovskite films with exceptional crystallinity suppresses non‐radiative recombination, leading to a minimal non‐radiative open‐circuit voltage loss of 149 mV. Moreover, the average charge lifetime in these films is extended to 56.3 ns, thanks to their preferential growth along the out‐of‐plane direction. Consequently, the leading 2D RP perovskite solar cell achieves an impressive power conversion efficiency of 17.8% and an open‐circuit voltage of 1.21 V. Additionally, the stability of the 2D RP perovskite solar cell, even without encapsulation, exhibits substantial improvement, retaining 97.4% of its initial efficiency after 1000 hours under a nitrogen environment. The RCA strategy presents a promising avenue for advancing the commercial prospects of 2D RP perovskite solar cells.

Backgrounds: It remains unclear whether there are sex differences in the correlation between klotho and mortality risk. The purpose of our study is to investigate the relationship between klotho levels and all-cause mortality, specifically examining potential sex disparities. Methods: The study utilized data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. The study employed the Cox proportional hazards model and Kaplan-Meier survival curves to conduct multivariate analyses investigating the associations between klotho and mortality. The impact of klotho level on mortality was assessed by a restricted cubic spline curve. Results: Our study included 13,748 participants. The hazard ratios (HR) for all-cause mortality were found to be higher in males compared to females. The risk of all-cause mortality decreased until the klotho level reached 959 pg/mL in all-cause mortality, then increased thereafter in females (P value for nonlinearity = 0.01, P overall = 0.02); no curved relationship was observed in males. Conclusion: Klotho levels and mortality follow a U-shaped curve, with sex differences in the relationship. Males with higher klotho levels have a higher risk of all-cause death than females.

This study investigates the introduction of ultrasonic impact treatment (UIT) during the wire arc additive manufacturing process to refine the microstructure and enhance the properties of 18Ni-300 maraging steel components. It was found that interlayer ultrasonic impact treatment (I-UIT) and synchronous ultrasonic impact treatment (S-UIT) applied to the deposited metal can refine the grains, alter grain growth orientation, and reduce anisotropy. At the top of the formed component, compared to directly deposited specimens, significant grain refinement and the appearance of a 20μm nanocrystalline zone were observed in I-UIT-WAAM samples, while S-UIT-WAAM samples similarly exhibited the effects of ultrasonic impact, with a deeper nanocrystalline zone of 230μm. In the middle of the formed component, due to subsequent remelting and heating effects, the ultrasonic effect was weakened, resulting in the disappearance of the nanocrystalline zone. Compared to I-UIT-WAAM S-UIT-WAAM samples samples, S-UIT-WAAM samples showed better ultrasonic assistance effects due to the ultrasonic impact on the molten pool, with significantly reduced austenite content, average grain size, and texture density. In terms of mechanical properties, for S-UIT-WAAM samples, the horizontal tensile strength was 1401.3 ± 57.6 MPa, and the vertical tensile strength was 1327 ± 9.5 MPa. Compared to directly deposited specimens, the horizontal and vertical tensile strengths of I-UIT-WAAM samples increased by 14.6% and 11.3%, respectively.

The dynamic compression property of maraging steel is an important basis for determining the impact resistance of the structure, and the related studies are few. To enrich the relevant data and elucidate the relevant mechanisms, in this work, a new Co-free maraging steel component is fabricated by wire-arc direct energy deposition (DED), and the quasi-static tensile properties and dynamic compression properties are tested. The results show that the deposition direction exhibits the highest quasi-static tensile properties. Strain rate strengthening effect, grain refinement and grain boundary strengthening are the main strengthening mechanisms during dynamic compression. With the increase of strain rate, dynamic recrystallization intensifies, causing the grain size and dislocation density to decrease. Under dynamic condition, strain-induced martensite phase transformation reduces the austenite content; temperature rise and dynamic recrystallization limit the degree of martensite phase transformation. Strain rate sensitivity of the strength is independent of the direction.

Background Currently, there is a lack of evidence for the long‐term bioprosthetic valve durability of patients with bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) following transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). Methods and Results This study aimed to evaluate hemodynamic outcome, structural valve deterioration, and bioprosthetic valve failure during long‐term follow‐up after TAVR in patients with BAV versus patients with tricuspid aortic valve (TAV). Patients with BAV and TAV who underwent TAVR between 2012 and 2020, with echocardiography followed for at least 3 years, were included. Baseline characteristics, long‐term valve hemodynamic performance, structural valve deterioration, and bioprosthetic valve failure were compared between patients with BAV and TAV. A total of 170 patients with BAV and 145 patients with TAV were included. The mean duration of follow‐up for patients with BAV and TAV was 5.2±1.8 and 5.0±1.7 years. No significant differences were observed in the rates of structural valve deterioration and bioprosthetic valve failure between patients with BAV and TAV: structural valve deterioration, BAV 20 (11.8%) versus TAV 16 (11.0%) at last follow‐up (P=0.861); bioprosthetic valve failure, BAV 3 (1.8%) versus TAV 7 (4.8%) at last follow‐up (P=0.196). More than moderate intravalvular aortic regurgitation (1.8% versus 4.8%, P=0.196) and paravalvular leak (6.5% versus 3.4%, P=0.305) were rare in both patients with BAV and patients with TAV. Conclusions This study indicated satisfactory long‐term valve durability of TAVR in patients with BAV. Comparable hemodynamic outcome, structural valve deterioration, and bioprosthetic valve failure could be achieved in patients with BAV and TAV during long‐term follow‐up after TAVR.

Achalinus sheni Ma, Xu, Qi, Wang, Tang, Huang & Jiang, 2023 was originally described based on only male specimens from Lianyuan City and Nanyue District, Hunan, China. So far, no information on the females of this species is available. After molecular systematics and morphological characters of recently collected specimens from Xinshao County, Hunan, several specimens (3 males and 1 female) were identified as this species. Therefore, we provided supplementary descriptions of the female characteristics of this species in this study. Meanwhile, we extended the description of this species.

Abstract Objectives Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a severe and common autoimmune disease. Conventional diagnostic methods are often subjective, error-prone, and repetitive works. There is an urgent need for a method to detect RA accurately. Therefore, this study aims to develop an automatic diagnostic system based on deep learning for recognizing and staging RA from radiographs to assist physicians in diagnosing RA quickly and accurately. Methods We develop a CNN-based fully automated RA diagnostic model, exploring five popular CNN architectures on two clinical applications. The model is trained on a radiograph dataset containing 240 hand radiographs, of which 39 are normal and 201 are RA with five stages. For evaluation, we use 104 hand radiographs, of which 13 are normal and 91 RA with five stages. Results The CNN model achieves good performance in RA diagnosis based on hand radiographs. For the RA recognition, all models achieve an AUC above 90% with a sensitivity over 98%. In particular, the AUC of the GoogLeNet-based model is 97.80%, and the sensitivity is 100.0%. For the RA staging, all models achieve over 77% AUC with a sensitivity over 80%. Specifically, the VGG16-based model achieves 83.36% AUC with 92.67% sensitivity. Conclusion The presented GoogLeNet-based model and VGG16-based model have the best AUC and sensitivity for RA recognition and staging, respectively. The experimental results demonstrate the feasibility and applicability of CNN in radiograph-based RA diagnosis. Therefore, this model has important clinical significance, especially for resource-limited areas and inexperienced physicians.

Abstract Coupling by metal–carbene transfer enables the formation of several different bonds at the carbenoid site, enabling prochiral Csp 3 centers that are fundamental three-dimensional substructures for medicines to be forged with increased efficiency. However, strategies using bulk chemicals are rare because of the challenge of breaking two unactivated geminal bonds. Herein, we report the reactivity of ethers to form metal–carbene intermediate by cleavage of α-Csp 3–H/Csp 3–O bonds, which achieve selective coupling with arylmagnesium bromides and chlorosilanes. These couplings are catalysed by cyclic (alkyl)(amino)carbene-chromium complex and enable the one-step formation of 1,n-arylsilyl alcohols and α-arylated silanes. Mechanistic studies indicate that the in-situ formed low-valent Cr might react with iodobenzene to form phenyl radical species, which abstracts the α-H atom of ether in giving α-oxy radical. The latter combines with Cr by breaking α-Csp 3–O bond to afford metal–carbene intermediate, which couples with aryl Grignard and chlorosilane to form two σ-bonds.

Abstract Malignant tumors have increasing morbidity and high mortality, and their occurrence and development is a complicate process. The development of sequencing technologies enabled us to gain a better understanding of the underlying genetic and molecular mechanisms in tumors. In recent years, the spatial transcriptomics sequencing technologies have been developed rapidly and allow the quantification and illustration of gene expression in the spatial context of tissues. Compared with the traditional transcriptomics technologies, spatial transcriptomics technologies not only detect gene expression levels in cells, but also inform the spatial location of genes within tissues, cell composition of biological tissues, and interaction between cells. Here we summarize the development of spatial transcriptomics technologies, spatial transcriptomics tools and its application in cancer research. We also discuss the limitations and challenges of current spatial transcriptomics approaches, as well as future development and prospects.

Abstract The chiral antiferromagnetic (AFM) materials, which have been widely investigated due to their rich physics, such as non-zero Berry phase and topology, provide a platform for the development of antiferromagnetic spintronics. Here, we find two distinctive anomalous Hall effect (AHE) contributions in the chiral AFM Mn3Pt, originating from a time-reversal symmetry breaking induced intrinsic mechanism and a skew scattering induced topological AHE due to an out-of-plane spin canting with respect to the Kagome plane. We propose a universal AHE scaling law to explain the AHE resistivity ( $${{\rho }}_{AH}$$ ρ A H ) in this chiral magnet, with both a scalar spin chirality (SSC)-induced skew scattering topological AHE term, $${a}_{sk}$$ a s k and non-collinear spin-texture induced intrinsic anomalous Hall term, $${{b}}_{{in}}$$ b i n . We found that $${{{a}}}_{{{sk}}}$$ a s k and $${{{b}}}_{{{in}}}$$ b i n can be effectively modulated by the interfacial electron scattering, exhibiting a linear relation with the inverse film thickness. Moreover, the scaling law can explain the anomalous Hall effect in various chiral magnets and has far-reaching implications for chiral-based spintronics devices.

Abstract Skyrmions in existing 2D van der Waals (vdW) materials have primarily been limited to cryogenic temperatures, and the underlying physical mechanism of the Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction (DMI), a crucial ingredient for stabilizing chiral skyrmions, remains inadequately explored. Here, we report the observation of Néel-type skyrmions in a vdW ferromagnet Fe3−x GaTe2 above room temperature. Contrary to previous assumptions of centrosymmetry in Fe3−x GaTe2, the atomic-resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy reveals that the off-centered FeΙΙ atoms break the spatial inversion symmetry, rendering it a polar metal. First-principles calculations further elucidate that the DMI primarily stems from the Te sublayers through the Fert–Lévy mechanism. Remarkably, the chiral skyrmion lattice in Fe3−x GaTe2 can persist up to 330 K at zero magnetic field, demonstrating superior thermal stability compared to other known skyrmion vdW magnets. This work provides valuable insights into skyrmionics and presents promising prospects for 2D material-based skyrmion devices operating beyond room temperature.

To investigate the impact response and damage mechanism of CFRP composite materials for high-speed trains under high-speed impact from foreign objects of different shapes and sizes, high-speed impact experiments and simulations were conducted on CFRP composite laminate at a velocity of 163 m/s. A finite element simulation model was established in Abaqus/Explicit. This model adopts the 3D-Hashin failure criterion considering strain rate effects to simulate the failure of fibers and matrix. Bonded elements with zero thickness were inserted along the fiber direction in the laminate to replicate the damage phenomena of fiber bundle debonding and pull-out. The effectiveness of the finite element model was validated by high-speed photography of the impact process and ultrasonic C-scan damage images recorded during the experiments. Based on this simulation model, the influence of projectiles of different shapes and sizes on the impact response of CFRP composite materials was studied. Projectiles of different shapes exhibit their own characteristics in terms of the time of peak force occurrence, manifestation, and characteristics of laminar damage. The peak force of the cylindrical projectile is 245.01% greater than that of the spherical one, while the conical projectile is 52.26% smaller than the spherical one. When the projectile size increases from 10 mm to 20 mm, the peak force of the spherical projectile, conical projectile, and cylindrical projectile increases by 79.67%, 120.12%, and 283.13% respectively. The total area of delamination in laminated plates is positively correlated with the size of the impacting body.

Highlights Recent progress on the applications of 2D materials in perovskite solar cells is discussed from the views of bottom interfaces, top interfaces, and electrodes. The roles of van der Waals heterojunction in enhancing the performance of perovskite solar cells are highlighted. The future directions and challenges in development of 2D materials-based perovskite solar cells are provided.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of frailty and inflammation on all-cause mortality in patients with abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) who underwent endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR), and key risk factors were also explored. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 174 patients with AAA who underwent EVAR at Beijing Hospital between 2016 and 2024. Frailty was assessed using the modified five-item Frailty Index (mFI-5). Inflammation was quantified by the red cell distribution width-to-albumin ratio (RAR), a novel inflammatory marker. We examined the associations between frailty, preoperative risk factors, and mortality using Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and Cox proportional hazards models. Mediation analysis was performed to evaluate the role of RAR in the relationship between frailty and mortality. Results: Frailty was found to be an independent risk factor for all-cause mortality following EVAR (HR = 1.95, P = 0.048). Preoperative anemia (HR = 0.98, P = 0.032), elevated creatinine levels (HR = 1.01, P = 0.013), and prolonged operation time (HR = 1.01, P = 0.029) were also independent predictors of mortality. Kaplan-Meier survival analysis revealed significantly lower survival rates for frailty patients (P = 0.004). Additionally, RAR mediated 23.8% of the relationship between frailty and mortality (P = 0.012), underscoring its role as a key indicator of chronic inflammation. Conclusions: Frailty and chronic inflammation, as measured by the innovative RAR marker, are significant contributors to mortality after EVAR. This study highlights the clinical utility of RAR in identifying high-risk AAA patients and its potential for guiding targeted preoperative interventions. Incorporating frailty assessments and inflammation monitoring into routine preoperative evaluations may improve patient outcomes by enabling personalized approaches such as nutritional optimization and inflammation control.
