A practical algorithm for solving large-scale box-constrained optimization problems is developed, analyzed, and tested. In the proposed algorithm, an identification strategy is involved to estimate the active set at per-iteration. The components of inactive variables are determined by the steepest descent method at first finite number of steps and then by conjugate gradient method subsequently. Under some appropriate conditions, we show that the algorithm converges globally. Numerical experiments and comparisons by using some box-constrained problems from CUTEr library are reported. Numerical comparisons illustrate that the proposed method is promising and competitive with the well-known method—L-BFGS-B.

The accuracy of sampling of gas components has a significant impact on the measurement of various performance parameters in the combustion chamber of an aero-engine. In order to investigate the effect of the probe geometry of a six-point gas sampling probe on sampling accuracy in supersonic gas flow, a three-dimensional probe gas flow characteristic solution model is established through numerical simulation methods of components of transport and fluid–solid coupling. Probes with three angles of 28°, 30°, and 32° and an optimized conical probe are constructed. The sampling accuracy of the probes with different geometries is compared and evaluated by the deviation of the component volume fraction before and after sampling and the resulting combustion efficiency error. This paper presents a set of calculation methods for solving the relative deviation of volume fraction by an iterative method based on the ideal gas law and the Redlich–Kwong equation (R-K equation). The method is designed to solve the exact component volume fraction problem in the simulation calculation. The study results demonstrate that the 28° and optimized conical probes improve sampling accuracy more effectively than the original 30° structure. The deviation of the volume fractions of the two structures is less than 1.7%, and the combustion efficiency error is less than 0.09%. The developed iterative calculation method can significantly reduce the theoretical calculation error to less than 0.06%. The experimental data of the test bench are in good agreement with the simulation results, thereby demonstrating the reliability and accuracy of the sampling probe following structural optimization.

Cardiac diseases have high mortality rates and are a significant threat to human health. Echocardiography is a commonly used imaging technique to diagnose cardiac diseases because of its portability, non-invasiveness and low cost. Precise segmentation of basic cardiac structures is crucial for cardiologists to efficiently diagnose cardiac diseases, but this task is challenging due to several reasons, such as: (1) low image contrast, (2) incomplete structures of cardiac, and (3) unclear border between the ventricle and the atrium in some echocardiographic images. In this paper, we applied contrastive learning strategy and proposed a semi-supervised method for echocardiographic images segmentation. This proposed method solved the above challenges effectively and made use of unlabeled data to achieve a great performance, which could help doctors improve the accuracy of CVD diagnosis and screening. We evaluated this method on a public dataset (CAMUS), achieving mean Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC) of 0.898, 0.911, 0.916 with 1/4, 1/2 and full labeled data on two-chamber (2CH) echocardiography images, and of 0.903, 0.921, 0.928 with 1/4, 1/2 and full labeled data on four-chamber (4CH) echocardiography images. Compared with other existing methods, the proposed method had fewer parameters and better performance. The code and models are available at https://github.com/gpgzy/CL-Cardiac-segmentation.

Aiming at the problem of excessive propeller noise in a new type of electric aircraft, in order to ensure the propeller aerodynamic characteristics simultaneously, a noise reduction method for improving the shape of the blade along the spanwise is proposed. The FW-H model, the unsteady slip mesh, and the large eddy simulation method are investigated to obtain the aerodynamic noise spectrum. Initially, through propeller aerodynamic noise numerical simulation, we obtain the sound pressure and aircraft aerodynamic noise in frequency domain. Subsequently, the effectiveness of our method is verified by comparing the experimental data and numerical results. Based on the established calculation model and method, under three different rotation speeds, the distribution law of the sound pressure level of the propeller with different shapes along the spanwise is analyzed, and the influence of the blade shape on the aerodynamic noise of the propeller is obtained. The research shows that the aerodynamic noise of the new blade compared to the original blade is significantly reduced at the same rotation speed higher than 1000 rpm, indicating that the blade load noise plays a dominant role in the aerodynamic noise and can be effectively reduced by changing the blade shape along the spanwise, thus reducing the aerodynamic noise of the blade.

Landslides cause a considerable amount of damage around the world every year. Landslide susceptibility assessments are useful for the mitigation of the associated potential risks to local economic development, land use planning, and decision makers. The main aim of this study was to present a novel hybrid approach of bagging (B)-based kernel logistic regression (KLR), named the BKLR model, for spatial prediction of landslides in the Shangnan County, China. We first selected 15 conditioning factors for landslide susceptibility modeling. Then, the prediction capability of all conditioning factors was evaluated using the least square support vector machine method. Model validation and comparison were performed based on the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve and several statistical-based indexes, including positive predictive rate, negative predictive rate, sensitivity, specificity, kappa index, and root mean square error. Results indicated that the BKLR ensemble model outperformed and outclassed the KLR and the benchmark support vector machine model. Our findings overall confirmed that a combination of the meta model with a decision tree classifier based on a functional algorithm can decrease the over-fitting and variance problems of data, which could enhance the prediction power of the landslide model. The resultant susceptibility maps could be useful for hazard mitigation in the study area and other similar landslide-prone areas.
