Er3+/Yb3+ ion co-doped transparent glass-ceramics containing Y5O4F7 nanorods were prepared through a conventional melt-quenching method and a subsequent heat-treatment method. The XRD patterns, transmission spectra, HR-TEM images and elemental distribution mapping results showed that Er3+ and Yb3+ ion incorporated NaYF4 nanospheres and Y5O4F7 nanorods were formed in glass-ceramics when heat-treatment was carried out at temperatures 620 °C and 650 °C, respectively. As a consequence, continuous greatly enhanced up-conversion emission from Er3+ ions was obtained. The changes of the absorption spectra and decay curves revealed that the relatively high concentration and multiple doping sites in low symmetry orthorhombic Y5O4F7 nanorods should account for the intense up-conversion emission. Furthermore, a relatively large ΔE (818 cm−1) and a high SR (1.31% K−1 at 300 K) were obtained when evaluating the potential application of this novel glass-ceramic in temperature sensing. These results show that transparent glass-ceramics containing Y5O4F7 nanorods are promising candidates as up-conversion host materials for a variety of applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Er3+ ions-doped germano-gallate oxyfluoride glass-ceramic containing BaF2 nanocrystals was prepared through conventional melt quenching and subsequent thermal treatment method. X-ray diffraction patterns and transmission electron microscope images confirmed the formation of BaF2 nanocrystals in glass-ceramics. Preferential incorporation of Er3+ ions into the BaF2 nanocrystals were confirmed by the absorption spectra and emission spectra, and enhanced upconversion emission and infrared emission were observed. Relatively high transmittance in the mid-infrared region indicated great potential of this germano-gallate oxyfluoride glass-ceramics as host materials for the efficient mid-infrared emission from rare-earth ions. In this work, PbSe QDs were precipitated in oxyfluoride glass-ceramics containing BaF2 nanocrystals. Tunable and broad absorption and photoluminescence from PbSe QDs doped glass-ceramics were observed in the near-infrared wavelength range. When the glasses were heat-treated at temperatures below 560°C using one-step heat-treatment schedule, single photoluminescence band was observed from each sample. Upon high temperature (560°C or 570°C) one-step or two-step heat-treatment, dual-band photoluminescence was observed. These two photoluminescence bands in each spectrum were separated by a gap of ~110–150meV, and as a result, effective full width at half maximum as large as ~500nm was recorded. Through this research a lentiviral vector expressing the gene of folate-binding protein-1 (FOLR1) was constructed and the corrsponding expression products were identified. Firstly, full-length of the FORL1 gene was amplified by PCR and cloned into the plasmid pWPI. Then it was further confirmed by PCR and sequencing. Secondly, after the recombinant pWPI and its helper plasmid co-transfected the virus packaging 293T cells, SKOV3 cells were infected with the virus particles and sorted by flow cytometry. Thirdly, the FOLR1 gene was detected by RT-PCR and its protein expression was detected by Western blot. Finally, the recombinant expression vector was successfully constructed, and lentiviruses were successfully packaged by the 293T cells. A great quantity of green fluorescent cells could be seen after the SKOV3 cells were effectively infected with the lentiviruses carrying the FOLR1 gene. The sorting could be done and detected by cytometrying the FORL1 gene and its stable expression by the two methods above, which laid experimental foundation for exploring its biological function in ovarian cancers.
