The idea of this study is to investigate the antagonistic effect of Sphingomonas spp. against fish pathogens. The liquid culture inhibition test analysis showed that Sphingomonas spp. has an antagonistic effect on Lactococcus garvieae SY-LG1. However, the effect has not been fully observed on Aeromonas salmonicida subsp. salmonicida ATCC 33658, Yersinia ruckeri E42, Vibrio (Listonella) anguillarum and Vibrio crassostreae SY-VC10. In this study, the effect of Sphingomonas spp. on fish pathogenic bacteria was investigated for the first time through a liquid culture inhibition test and it was found that it had an antagonistic effect on Lactococcus garvieae SY-LG1. However, further studies are still needed for the definitive species diagnosis of Sphingomonas spp. and further tests such as enzyme production ability, pH resistance, hydrophobicity, and bile tolerance of the candidate probiotic isolates are encouraged. At the end of all these tests, it is also needed to investigate the resistance of fish against L. garvieae pathogen through dietary incorporation of Sphingomonas spp. in fish feeds.

The use of phenolic (organic) acids as an alternative to antibiotic agents in aquaculture prevents the multiplication of pathogenic bacteria and demonstrates the ability of fish to cure animals by promoting the growth of beneficial bacteria in the intestinal flora. It is thought that the use of organic acids as an additive and antibacterial agent in aquaculture will increase in the future. In this study, the antibacterial effect of the caffeic acid, one of the organic acids, on Yersinia ruckeri E42, Listonella anguillarum SY-L24, Streptococcus iniae ATCC 2917, Edwardsiella tarda SY-ED14, Citrobacter sp. SY-C10 bacteria was investigated by using the Disc Diffusion (DISC) and Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) methods. Our results showed that caffeic acid had antimicrobial activity against all five bacteria, but it was the most effective on E. tarda SY-ED14, among the investigated fish bacteria pathogens. According to the results of this research, it is suggested that caffeic acid can be used as an antimicrobial agent against fish bacterial pathogens in aquaculture facilities. However, further studies are necessary to confirm caffeic acid's therapeutic efficacy in vivo against These studied pathogenic bacteria.

Glifosat bazlı formulasyonlar, dünyada en yaygın kullanılan herbisit tarım ilaçlarındandır. Bu çalışmada, su kaynaklı glifosatın erkek Nil tilapiyası (Oreochromis niloticus) testis, sperm kanalı, testiküler ve sağım yolu ile elde edilmiş spermatozoa örnekleri üzerine etkileri belirlenmiştir. Bu amaçla, balıklar 14 gün boyunca 0, 5, 10, 20, 30 ve 40 mg/L glifosat içeren deneme akvaryumlarında tutulmuşlardadır. >10 mg/L glifosatın, sağım yoluyla ve testislerden alınmış olan spermatozoa örneklerinin motilite, canlılık süresi ve vitalite değerlerine azaltıcı etkisi gözlemlenmiştir. 40 mg/L glifosat grubunda, hem testüküler hem de sağım yoluyla elde edilmiş spermatozoa örneklerinde en düşük vitalite değerleri saptanmıştır. >10 mg/L üzerindeki glifosat maruziyetinin, spermatozoa hücrelerinin oksidatif dengesinde değişimlere yol açtığı belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca, testis ve sperm kanalı dokularında glifosat etkisi ile oluşan lipid peroksidasyon seviyelerindeki azalmaların, kontrol grubuna alınan testis örneği haricinde istatistiki açıdan önemli farklar göstermediği saptanmıştır. Katalaz aktivitesi ise kontrol grubuna kıyasla >5mg/L glifosat gruplarında özellikle testis dokularında artış göstermektedir. Sperm kanalı dokusundaki oksidatif cevap, testis dokusundan farklı olduğu belirlenmiştir. Sonuç olarak, bu çalışma ile glifosat bazlı yaygın olarak kullanılan ticari bir herbisitin, erkek Nil Tilapyası balığı üreme sistemi üzerine etkilerini gösterilmiştir. Ortamda bulunan özellikle 5 mg/L’den fazla olan glifosat konsatrasyonun spermatozoa parametrelerine olumsuz yansıdığı saptanmıştır. Bununla birlikte daha yüksek konsatrasyonlar bu herbisitin üreme sistemi dokularındaki oksidatif stres koşullarını etkileyebildiği gösterilmiştir.

Chub mackerel (Scomber japonicus Houttuyn, 1782) were obtained from the commercial fishermen in Çanakkale, Turkey, in July, 2017. We examined a total of 40 fish (20 non-infested and 20 infested) and assessed the biometric indices, haematological parameters and serum biochemical variables. The hepatosomatic index and gonadosomatic index of infested chub mackerel fish were lower than those of non-infested fish. Blood haematocrit ratio and haemoglobin concentration in naturally parasite-infested chub mackerel fish were significantly lower than those in non-infested fish. However, white blood cell counts of the parasite-infested chub mackerel fish were higher than those of healthy ones. Serum total protein, globulin, glucose, cholesterol, triglyceride, urea, chlorine and iron levels in naturally parasite-infested chub mackerel fish were significantly lower than those in non-infested fish. Moreover, serum lactate dehydrogenase, aspartate aminotransferase, alkaline phosphatase and alanine aminotransferase activities of the parasite-infested chub mackerel fish were higher than those in healthy ones. Therefore, observed variations in haematological parameters, serum biochemical variables and biometric indices influenced by the parasite, A. pegreffii, may potentially increase sensitivity of the chub mackerel, Scomber japonicus, to diseases and environmental conditions., Kolyoz (Scomber japonicus Houttuyn, 1782) Temmuz 2017'de Çanakkale, Türkiye'deki ticari balıkçılardan elde edildi. Toplam 40 balığın (20 parazitsiz, 20 parazitli) biyometrik indeksleri, hematolojik parametreleri ve serum biyokimyasal değişkenleri incelendi. Parazitli kolyoz balıklarının hepatosomatik indeksi ve gonadosomatik indeksi, parazitsiz balıklardan daha düşüktü. Doğal olarak parazitle istila edilmiş kolyoz balıklarında kan hematokrit oranı ve hemoglobin konsantrasyonu, parazitsiz balıklardan önemli ölçüde daha düşüktü. Bununla birlikte, parazitli kolyoz balıklarının beyaz kan hücresi sayıları sağlıklı olanlardan daha yüksekti. Doğal olarak parazitli kolyoz balıklarında serum total protein, globulin, glikoz, kolesterol, trigliserit, üre, klor ve demir seviyeleri, parazitsiz balıklardan önemli ölçüde daha düşüktü. Ayrıca, parazitli kolyoz balıklarının serum laktat dehidrojenaz, aspartat aminotransferaz, alkalin fosfataz ve alanin aminotransferaz aktiviteleri sağlıklı olanlardan daha yüksekti. Bu bulgular ışığında, parazitin kolyoz, Scomber japonicus’un hematolojik parametreler, serum biyokimyasal değişkenler ve biyometrik indeksler de meydana getirdiği değişimlerin balığı farklı hastalıklara ve/veya çevresel koşullara karşı daha duyarlı hale getirebileceği söylenebilir.

Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant that is frequently used in the treatment of many neuropathic and inflammatory diseases as well as depression. In this study, the effect of amitriptyline antidepressant, which has long-lasting properties as a result of contamination to the aquatic environment, on the serum biochemistry of sea bream (Sparus aurata) fish was investigated. For this purpose, sea bream were exposed to amitriptyline concentrations of 0.2 µg/L, 10 µg/L, 100 µg/L and 1 mg/L for 14 days. Glucose (GLU), albumin (ALB), globulin (GLO), total protein (TPROT), triglyceride (TRI), cholesterol (COL), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) biochemical parameters were determined from the blood serum samples of the fish taken on the 7th and 14th days of the study. While all serum biochemistry parameters did not show a significant difference on the 7th day, significant changes occurred in the triglyceride, cholesterol, AST, ALP and LDH values on the 14th day (p, Amitriptilin, depresyonun yanında, birçok nöropatik ve infalamatuar hastalığın tedavisinde sıklıkla kullanılan trisiklik antidepresandır. Bu amaçla çipura balıkları 14 gün boyunca 0,2 µg/L, 10 µg/L, 100 µg/L ve 1 mg/L’lik amitriptilin konsantrasyonlarına maruz bırakılmıştır.
