Abstract

This thesis studies decentralized management of business processes in the context of service oriented architectures. We present a generic approach that enables decentralized executions with cooperating processes by implemeting the centralized semantic with P2P interactions. Precisely, we present our method that derives the latter. We focus on the sophisticated control/data flow and conversational aspects that run counter to naive intuition, most of which, we explain using deeper analysis of the algorithms and data structures that we employed. In the second part of the manuscrit, we focus on information flow control that consists of planning the interactions of composed services in order to satisfy different security restrictions concerning the propagation of information in a composition. We examine the questions of what the information flow is and how it can be modeled and computed in service-oriented business processes. We present the design and implementation of a decentralized workflow management solution for the control of information flow. The derived process fragments are deployed on composed services and they enable them to establish P2P interactions with each other with respect to information flow policies. The last contribution takes on the challenge of implementing dynamic and decentralized process deployment following the same approach. Our conceptual contributions are implemented with state-of-art technologies.; Les travaux de recherche de cette thèse portent sur la modélisation et la gestion des procédés métiers orientés services. Le travail s'intéresse aux procédés d'un point de vue de gestion décentralisée où les services composés peuvent établir des interactions de pair–à-pair. Dans un premier temps, nous présentons une méthode qui permet de dériver des procédés coopérants à partir d'une spécification centralisée. Il s'agit des algorithmes qui analysent un procédé centralisé pour le traduire en procédés coopérants, en transformant le flux de contrôle et le flux de données du procédé d'origine en interactions équivalentes de type pair-à-pair. Un des apports de la décentralisation, qui répond à une nouvelle exigence des procédés orientés vers les services, est l'établissement des interactions de pair-à-pair qui respectent le flux d'information des services composés. La deuxième partie du travail est la proposition d'un langage permettant d'exprimer des politiques de flux d'information. Par la suite, nous étudions l'intégration des politiques du flux d'information dans les procédés coopérants. Le choix d'un service entrant dans une composition peut être effectué dynamiquement, au moment de l'exécution du procédé, de sorte que l'ensemble des services composés n'est pas connu à priori. Une compréhension de la stratégie de choix dynamique des services et leur intégration dans le cadre des contributions proposées dans son ensemble est pour cela une étape centrale. Pour ce faire, une méthodologie qui automatise le processus de déploiement dynamique des procédés coopérants est proposée. Letravail présente une architecture logicielle qui valide les concepts proposés.

National audience; Le contrôle du flux d'information est une dimension inévitable des compositions efficaces où les services composés doivent avoir des interactions restreintes du point de vue des politiques de sécurité, d'intimité ou de confiance. Dans cet article, nous nous intéressons à la modélisation et au contrôle du flux d'information dans les procédés métiers basés sur la composition des services. Nous présentons une solution qui suit l'approche de gestion décentralisée de workflow. Notre solution s'appuie sur des techniques de décomposition d'une spécification de composition centralisée en un ensemble de procédés métiers coopérants qui établissent des interactions de services tout en respectant les restrictions de flux d'information. Contrairement aux propositions similaires, la solution proposée permet de simplifier, voire d'éliminer l'implémentation des modules logiciels et des protocoles de communications non-universels auprès des services composés.

There has been a great deal of interest in recent years in the use of service oriented approach and relevant standards to implement business processes. Following the concepts of workflow-based process management, the major focus has been on service composition. Not surprisingly, this default composition approach suffers from the limitations of centralized workflow management. It is well recognized that a decentralized execution setting where composed services can establish P2P interactions, is central to a wide range of ubiquitous, mobile, large-scale and secure business process management. A natural way to enable the decentralized execution is to implement the relevant distributed cooperating processes of a centralized process on composed services. In this way, composed services can establish P2P interactions following the semantics of their processes. In this report, we present a generic approach that enables decentralized executions with such cooperating processes. Precisely, we present our method that derives the latter. We focus on the sophisticated control/data flow, conversationional aspects and especially Dead Path Elimination that run counter to naive intuition, most of which, we explain using deeper analysis of the algorithms and data structures that we employed.

Abstract

International audience; Managing the processes of autonomous business organizations while they collaborate is a key requirement in order to guarantee that every business partner sees benefits of the collaboration. Thanks to the advances in the middleware IT technologies, some of the most important limitations of cross-organizational collaborations have been resolved. Yet, there are still a number of problems related to the distributed and heteregenous nature of the cross-organizational business environment. The monitoring and coordination, or briefly the management, of cross-organizational processes is one of the important missing aspect of the domain. In this paper, we describe a contract driven cross-organizational process monitoring and coordination mechanism. The contract based solution goes one step further comparing to inflexible and isolationistc approaches of workflows. For modeling the cross-organizational collaboration, we propose a generic contract model and next, we introduce an event-driven infrastructure for the enactment and monitoring of contract related processes.

Abstract

The growing importance of exchanges and collaborations in all business areas calls for fast, efficient, and flexible models of computersupported cooperation. As the traditionnal client-server paradigm is hampered by its structural limitations, the interest of the Information System Community is aroused by the promises of alternatives known as peerto- peer approaches. This paper introduces a generic architecture, P2P Coop, designed for the execution of collaborative business processes. Basic motivations of the model are discussed, as well as major contributions notably in terms of service-oriented routing and failure handling.

Abstract

With the new middleware IT technologies such as Web Services and peer-to-peer computing facilities, a Virtual Enterprise can be built easier achieving some problems of interoperability. Although existing standards deal with syntactic issues they are primitive for the maintenance of VE while the processes are fulfilled in the untrusted and dynamic environment of the Web. In this paper, we investigate the problems of maintenance and propose a generic model that can be used for the automation purposes of monitoring and management. The mechanism we propose models the process of the Virtual Enterprise and the perspective of process manager. Thus, it automates the maintenance according to predefined configurations.
