PurposeDrawing upon the third-person effect (TPE) theory, this study focuses on two types of misinformation countering intentions (i.e. simple correction and correction with justification). Accordingly, it aims to (1) assess the tenability of the third-person perception (TPP) in the face of misinformation on social media, (2) explore the antecedents of TPP and its relationship with individual-level misinformation countering intentions and (3) examine whether the mediating process is contingent on different social media usage conditions.Design/methodology/approachAn online survey was conducted with 1,000 representative respondents recruited in Mainland China in January 2022 using quota sampling. Paired t-test, multiple linear regression and moderated mediation analysis were employed to examine the proposed hypotheses.FindingsResults bolster the fundamental proposition of TPP that individuals perceive others as more susceptible to social media misinformation than they are. The self-other perceptual bias served as a mediator between the perceived consequence of misinformation and misinformation countering (i.e. simple correction and correction with justification) intentions. Furthermore, intensive social media users were likely to be motivated to counter social media misinformation derived from the indirect mechanism.Originality/valueThe findings provide further evidence for the role of TPE in explaining misinformation countering intention as prosocial and altruistic behavior rather than self-serving behavior. Improving the reaction selectivity and activity for challenging substrates such as nitroaromatics bearing two reducible functional groups is important in industry, yet remains a great challenge using traditional metal nanoparticle based catalysts. In this study, single metal atom doped M-C2N catalysts were theoretically screened for selective hydrogenation of 3-nitrostyrene to 3-vinylaniline with H2 as the H-source. Among 20 M-C2N catalysts, the non-noble Mn-C2N catalyst was found to have excellent reaction selectivity. Importantly, due to the solid frustrated Lewis pair sites in the pores of Mn-C2N, a low H2 activation energy is achieved on high-spin Mn-C2N and the rate-determining step for the hydrogenation reactions is the H diffusion from the metal site to the N site. The unraveled mechanism of the hydrogenation of 3-nitrostyrene using Mn-C2N enriches the applications of Mn based catalysts and demonstrates its excellent properties for catalyzing the challenging hydrogenation reaction of substrates with two reducible functional groups.

Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC), a particularly aggressive breast cancer subtype without estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR) and human epidermal growth factor 2 (HER2) expression, possesses highly invasive capacity, uncontrolled proliferative phenotype and poor clinical prognosis. Sesamol enriched in sesame seeds has been widely reported as a metabolic modulator due to its anti-aging, anti-hepatotoxic and cardio-protective properties. In this study, we found that sesamol significantly inhibited proliferation, migration and invasion of TNBC cells via attenuating PCNA, CyclinD1 expression and reversion of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) characterized by increased epithelial marker E-cadherin and decreased mesenchymal marker N-cadherin, Vimentin, Snail expression. Moreover, sesamol inactivated Wnt/β-catenin signaling and Wnt agonist 1 AMBMP application reversed the inhibition of proliferation, migration and invasion of TNBC by sesamol administration. Subsequently, our data showed that sesamol induced Wnt inhibitory factor 1 (WIF1), an endogenous inhibitor of Wnt/β-catenin pathway, expression and WIF1 artificial knockdown abrogated the inactivation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling by sesamol exposure in TNBC cells. And we found that promoter region de-methylation was responsible for WIF1 up-regulation by sesamol administration. Finally, with the xenograft assay using nude mice, we also found that sesamol inhibited proliferation and metastasis of TNBC via WIF1-induced inactivation of Wnt/β-catenin signaling in vivo. Collectively, these data added novel understandings and evidences to the anti-cancer properties of sesamol.

ObjectiveDysregulation of transfer RNA (tRNA)-derived small noncoding RNA (tsRNA) signatures in human serum has been found in various diseases. Here, we determine whether the signatures of tsRNAs in serum can serve as biomarkers for diagnosis or prognosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).MethodsInitially, small RNA sequencing was employed for the screening serum tsRNAs obtained from SLE patients, followed by validation with TaqMan probe-based quantitative reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR) assay. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to assess the diagnostic efficacy. The biological functions of tsRNAs were identified by Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) assay.ResultsWe first analyzed tsRNA signatures in SLE serum and identified that tRF-His-GTG-1 was significantly upregulated in SLE serum. The combination of tRF-His-GTG-1 and anti-dsDNA could serve as biomarkers for diagnosing SLE with a high area under the curve (AUC) of 0.95 (95% CI = 0.92–0.99), sensitivity (83.72%), and specificity (94.19%). Importantly, the noninvasive serum tRF-His-GTG-1 could also be used to distinguish SLE with LN or SLE without LN with AUC of 0.81 (95% CI, 0.73–0.88) and performance (sensitivity 66.27%, specificity 96.15%). Moreover, the serum tsRNA is mainly secreted via exosome and can directly target signaling molecules that play crucial roles in regulating the immune system.ConclusionIn this study, it has been demonstrated for the first time that serum tsRNAs can be employed as noninvasive biomarkers for the efficient diagnosis and prediction of nephritis in SLE.

Moral psychology holds that negative judgements on genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are likely to be intuitive reactions driven by trait disgust without deliberation, which brings difficulty to genetic science communication. Based on two interrelated experiments examining the processes and conditions of individual and scenario features influencing disgust and moral judgement about GMOs, this study aims to identify the different routes through which disgust influences moral judgement about GMOs in the physical and social dimensions. We found that the process of elicited state disgust influencing moral judgement on GMOs is regulated by pathogen disgust sensitivity and moral disgust sensitivity. The difference in opposition to GMOs brought by preferences for precepts implied in moral theories is evidently subject to the joint effect of the disgust elicitation type and emotion reappraisal (ER). This study clarifies the relationship between disgust for GMOs and moral judgement. It also confirms the effectiveness of ER in promoting the transition of moral judgement on GMOs from intuitive reaction to deliberation, thus offering benefits for science communicators targeting audiences who differ in their preferences for precepts implied in moral theories and trait disgust.

At present, high voltage cables are widely used in urban transmission system. When cable fault occurs, the speed of locating fault point and the accuracy of locating fault point play a decisive factor for power system to restore power supply quickly. This article adopted the method of neural network model based on the traveling wave ranging method. It could judge the fault location of 35kV~500kV high-voltage cable more quickly and accurately. Then, we have designed a portable high volt cable fault location device, which has been tested in the domestic power plant. The experiment showed that it could quickly determine the nature and location of power cable faults, shorten the time of blackouts and reduce the loss caused by blackouts.

Due to lack of estrogen receptor α (ERα, gene name: ESR1), ERα-negative breast carcinoma is insensitive to endocrine therapy, and restoration of ERα has become a promising strategy for ERα-negative breast cancer treatment. Sesamol, a naturally occurring phenolic compound, is usually extracted from sesame seeds. Previous investigations have unmasked its anti-oxidant and anti-inflammation properties. In this study, sesamol induced ERα functional re-expression followed by upregulation of its downstream pS2 and GREB1 genes in ERα-negative breast carcinoma. Moreover, it endowed responsiveness of ERα-negative breast carcinoma to the endocrine treatment drug 4-hydroxytamoxifen without influencing the viability of normal human umbilical vein endothelial cells. Mechanistically, sesamol induced ESR1 gene promoter demethylation by downregulating the expression of the DNA methyltransferases DNMT3A and DNMT3B, without affecting DNMT1. Moreover, the non-coding RNA miR-370-3p directly targeted DNMT3A and DNMT3B mRNA, and its expression increased upon treatment with sesamol. Artificial abrogation of miR-370-3p expression with an antagomir abolished the inhibition of DNMT3A and DNMT3B expression by sesamol, resulting in a fallback in ERα reactivation. In mice, sesamol significantly induced ERα re-expression via miR-370-3p-mediated downregulation of DNMT3A and DNMT3B. Sesamol may be a safe and effective option for clinical adjuvant therapy in patients with ERα-negative breast cancer.

The aim of this study is to conduct a quantitative analysis on alar mobility of HAN females and provided referenced materials for alar dynamic aesthetic. One hundred and fifty healthy HAN females without rhinoplasty, nasal injury, nasal deformity and craniofacial deformity were included in this study. 3dMD surface imaging system was used for anthropometric analysis. All participants were instructed to perform the desired dynamic facial expression from rest to maximum smile without reveling teeth and recorded by 3dMD dynamic surface imaging system simultaneously. Two frames of rest status and alar maximum enlargement were selected for measuring alar width, alar base width and inner-canthal distance. The difference between two status represented alar mobility, which was generated through equation: $${\text{MOBILITY}} = \frac{{{\text{WIDTH}}_{{{\text{smile}}}} - {\text{WIDTH}}_{{{\text{rest}}}} }}{{{\text{WIDTH}}_{{{\text{rest}}}} }} \times 100\%$$ . Alar mobility consisted of alar flaring mobility and alar base mobility. The alar flaring mobility was (9.49 ± 4.90)%, reference range was(1.45, 17.53)% and regression equation between rest and maximum smile was Y = 7.953 + 0.886X (R2 = 0.641, p = 0.000); the alar base mobility was (17.94 ± 10.44)%, reference range was (0.88, 35.00)% and regression equation between rest and maximum smile was Y = 4.481 + 0.966X (R2 = 0.528, p = 0.000. Asian alar anatomy has great distinction from Caucasian, processing conspicuous alar movement and damaging alar aesthetic dynamically. This study novelly defined alar mobility by three-dimensional anthropometric analysis, providing objective references for alar dynamic aesthetic and arousing plastic surgeons’ attention on keeping balance of static and dynamic aesthetic in rhinoplasty. Although interferon α (IFNα) and anti-angiogenesis antibodies have shown appropriate clinical benefit in the treatment of malignant cancer, they are deficient in clinical applications. Previously, we described an anti-vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2)-IFNα fusion protein named JZA01, which showed increased in vivo half-life and reduced side effects compared with IFNα, and it was more effective than the anti-VEGFR2 antibody against tumors. However, the affinity of the IFNα component of the fusion protein for its receptor-IFNAR1 was decreased. To address this problem, an IFNα-mutant fused with anti-VEGFR2 was designed to produce anti-VEGFR2-IFNαmut, which was used to target VEGFR2 with enhanced anti-tumor and anti-metastasis efficacy. Anti-VEGFR2-IFNαmut specifically inhibited proliferation of tumor cells and promoted apoptosis. In addition, anti-VEGFR2-IFNαmut inhibited migration of colorectal cancer cells and invasion by regulating the PI3K–AKT–GSK3β–snail signal pathway. Anti-VEGFR2-IFNαmut showed superior anti-tumor efficacy with improved tumor microenvironment (TME) by enhancing dendritic cell maturation, dendritic cell activity, and increasing tumor-infiltrating CD8+ T cells. In many patients, one-stage reconstruction repairs only the bony orbit, leaving intact the disfiguring enophthalmos. Thus, some filler is needed to restore the normal volume of the orbit. The authors describe a technique to correct such deformation safely and effectively. Suspended aerosols in the vicinity of discharged HVDC transmission lines will be charged by ions and deposit on the surface of the conductors. In order to obtain the conductors with different contamination conditions, a controllable accelerating contamination depositing method by introducing a controllable ionized field is proposed in the present paper. The conductor samples contaminated by 3 typical patterns were prepared and the morphology of the conductor surfaces was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The photon counting rate of the conductors and the electric field strength on the ground electrode were also tested. The anticipatory contamination depositing results were obtained, specifically, the surface conditions of the conductors could be improved or deteriorated, therefore, the corona discharge could be suppressed or enhanced in corresponding patterns of the proposed contamination depositing method.

This study used the SmartLipo 1064-nm system to remove herniated orbital fat tissue to improve lower eyelid appearance. A retrospective review of 128 patients was performed to evaluate the size of prominent fat pads and complications.Altogether, 128 patients underwent a procedure using the SmartLipo 1064-nm system via postseptal access, which helped locate fat tissue more precisely. Digital photographs were taken preoperatively and at one week and six months postoperatively. Eyebag sizes were determined preoperatively and six months postoperatively using the Non-Contact 3D Digitizer.Altogether, 118 primary and 10 revision patients (average age 31 years) were placed in one of two groups: mildly protruding fat pads (group 1, 86 patients) and moderately protruding fat pads (group 2, 42 patients). After injection of about 1 ml of anesthetic and 1 ml of 0.9% iced saline on each side, the patients received an average 450 joules of energy delivered at 20 Hz and 3 W. Postoperatively, the eyebag's height, depth, and area were significantly reduced in both groups (р = 0.000). The main symptoms (swelling, chemosis, engorgement, and pain) subsided within 5-7 days.The SmartLipo 1064-nm system with postseptal access, a minimally invasive procedure, can be used to correct mildly and moderately prominent fat pads.

In order to solve the problem that the magnetic coupling resonant WPT system with SS compensation structure causes a decrease in transmission efficiency when it is detuned, the resonant state of the system is tracked by detecting the output voltage of the transmitting coil inverter and the coil current of the receiving coil. Phase difference is converted into dc voltage signal with phase discriminator, ADC module is used to sample dc signal, PID algorithm is used to track resonance frequency of the system, 90° phase difference is taken as expected value of PID algorithm, and 90° phase shift is indirectly realized by digital method. The experiment shows that the resonant frequency tracking method is effective.

The time-domain measurement method can reflect the pulse characteristics and the generation mechanism of the corona-generated audible noise. In this paper, the time-domain waveforms of audible noise (AN) generated by single corona discharge under AC voltage in a coaxial geometry are measured and the influence of background noise is removed on the base of time-domain test results. Different from previous analysis which just cared about the influence from root mean square (RMS) value of voltage, this paper focuses on the characteristics of sound pressure pulses varying with instantaneous voltage in negative and positive half cycle of AC voltage. The results contribute to acquire and reveal the mechanism and features of audible noise generated by AC corona discharge as well as effect of space charges on corona discharge.

In order to study the effect of humidity on the variations of positive DC corona discharge, an artificial climate chamber was developed to perform corona experiments. Based on the testing system, the photon counting rate, the total electric field strength and the ion current density on the ground level were measured by the UV imaging detector, the rotating DC electric field mill and the Wilson plate respectively. The relatively humidity during the experiments was kept within the range 40% to 90%. Moreover, the relationship between the calibration coefficient of the field mill and relatively humidity was also investigated. Experimental results showed that the photon counting rate and the total electric field increased with the raise of relative humidity, while the ion current density and the calibration coefficient decreased with the raise of relative humidity.

An optimal experiment design assumes the existence of an initial or nominal process model. The efficiency of this procedure depends on how the initial model is chosen. This creates a practical dilemma as estimating the model is precisely what the experiment tries to achieve. A novel approach to experiment design for identification of nonlinear systems is developed, with the purpose of reducing the influence of poor initial values. The experiment design and the parameter estimation are conducted iteratively under a receding-horizon framework. By taking steady-state prior knowledge into account, constraints on the parameters can be derived. Such constraints help reduce influence of poor initial models. Scientific and technological (S&T) statistics takes more and more important part in college S&T daily working. According to the statistical requirements of annual report on the college S&T statistics, this paper proposes college three S&T statistical assessment levels in colleges. It also gives some index of statistical data about a college in recent five years and puts forward some charts and analysis results based on the relevant statistical data. From the analysis charts, we can analyze in detail the college S&T development state, level and trend, and provide a scientific reference in college S&T management while drawing up more objective and realistic incentive measures, even promote college S&T management innovation.

Platelet-derived growth factor-DD (PDGF-DD) is a recently discovered member of the PDGF family. The role of PDGF-DD in pathological angiogenesis and the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms remain largely unexplored. In this study, using different animal models, we showed that PDGF-DD expression was up-regulated during pathological angiogenesis, and inhibition of PDGF-DD suppressed both choroidal and retinal neovascularization. We also demonstrated a novel mechanism mediating the function of PDGF-DD. PDGF-DD induced glycogen synthase kinase-3beta (GSK3beta) Ser(9) phosphorylation and Tyr(216) dephosphorylation in vitro and in vivo, leading to increased cell survival. Consistently, GSK3beta activity was required for the antiangiogenic effect of PDGF-DD targeting. Moreover, PDGF-DD regulated the expression of GSK3beta and many other genes important for angiogenesis and apoptosis. Thus, we identified PDGF-DD as an important target gene for antiangiogenic therapy due to its pleiotropic effects on vascular and non-vascular cells. PDGF-DD inhibition may offer new therapeutic options to treat neovascular diseases.
