Sport visual ability plays an important role in the performance of elite athletes in competition. However, its relationship with boxers’ performance has not been fully understood. This study investigated the relationship between sports visual abilities and in-competition punching performance in 26 highly trained male amateur boxers. Ten visual abilities of the boxers were tested using the Senaptec Sensory Station (Senaptec, Beaverton, OR, United States), including Visual Clarity (VC), Contrast Sensitivity (CS), Depth Perception (DP), Near Far Quickness (NFQ), Target Capture (TC), Perception Span (PS), Multiple Object Tracking (MOT), Eye-Hand Coordination (EHC), Go/No Go (GNG), and Reaction Time (RT). Performance analyses were conducted on national boxing championships conducted by the boxers to analyze their punching accuracy. Correlation and regression analyses showed that punch performance %Hit was very strong correlated with DP, EHC, GNG, and RT, and showed a strong correlation with VC, CS, and PS. %Hit was moderate correlated with MOT, while there was no correlation with NFQ and TC. In addition, RT, EHC, and DP are important visual ability variables for boxers. The results of this study indicate that there is an overall relationship between sports visual ability and boxing performance, but there is also a specific relationship between variables in visual ability and boxing performance, especially faster reaction times, better processing of visual information, and decision-making abilities, and the ability to accurately recognize the distance and position of an opponent and their punches are essential for enhancing boxing performance. Further studies are needed to investigate the relationship between sport visual ability and more comprehensive performance in boxers, and the possibility of enhancing performance through specific visual training.

Genus Provespa contains nocturnal wasps mainly found in the southeastern region of Asia. There are no complete genome resources available of this genus, which hinders the study of its phylogenetic evolution and the origin of nocturnal behavior in the Vespidae family. Through high-throughput sequencing, we obtained the mitochondrial genome of Provespa barthelemyi (Hymenoptera: Vespidae), which is 17,721 base pairs in length and contains 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 tRNAs, and two rRNAs. We identified four gene rearrangement events of P. barthelemyi that frequently occur in the Vespidae family. We used Maximum Likelihood (ML) methodologies to construct a phylogenetic tree based on the sequenced mitochondrial genome and the available data of reported species belonging to Vespinae. Our findings confirmed the monophyly of Vespinae. Our study reports the first complete mitochondrial genome of Provespa and compares its characteristics with other mitochondrial genomes in the family Vespidae. This research should shed light on the phylogenetic relationships and ecological characteristics of the Vespidae family.

BackgroundHuman myiasis is a parasitic dipteran fly infestation that infects humans and vertebrates worldwide. However, the disease is endemic in Sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America. In Sub-Saharan Africa, it is under-reported and therefore its prevalence is unknown. This systematic review aims to elucidate the prevalence of human myiasis, factors that influence the infection, and myiasis-causing fly species in SSA. The review also dwelled on the common myiasis types and treatment methods of human myiasis.MethodsHere, we collect cases of human myiasis in Sub-Saharan Africa based on literature retrieved from PubMed, Google Scholar and Science Direct from 1959 to 2022. A total of 75 articles and 157 cases were included in the study. The recommendations of PRISMA 2020 were used for the realization of this systematic review.ResultsIn total, 157 cases of human myiasis in SSA were reviewed. Eleven fly species (Cordylobia anthropophaga, Cordylobia rodhaini, Dermatobia hominis, Lucilia cuprina, Lucilia sericata, Oestrus ovis, Sarcophaga spp., Sarcophaga nodosa, Chrysomya megacephala, Chrysomya chloropyga and Clogmia albipuntum) were found to cause human myiasis in SSA. Cordylobia anthropophaga was the most prevalent myiasis-causing species of the reported cases (n = 104, 66.2%). More than half of the reported cases were from travelers returning from SSA (n = 122, 77.7%). Cutaneous myiasis was the most common clinical presentation of the disease (n = 86, 54.7%). Females were more infected (n = 78, 49.6%) than males, and there was a higher infestation in adults than young children.ConclusionThe findings of this study reveals that international travelers to Sub-Saharan Africa were mostly infested therefore, we recommend that both international travelers and natives of SSA be enlightened by public health officers about the disease and its risk factors at entry points in SSA and the community level respectively. Clinicians in Sub-Saharan Africa often misdiagnose the disease and most of them lack the expertise to properly identify larvae, so we recommend the extensive use of molecular identification methods instead.

By TiH2/Al60V40 powder processing, in-situ dehydrogenation, and powder compact extrusion, we successfully fabricate a Ti–6Al–4V (wt.%) alloy with a dual harmonic structure. Such multilevel structural heterogeneity is attained by suppressing the stabilization effect of the residual hydrogen on β-Ti phase, through controlling the prior β grain sizes and interstitial element contents. It is demonstrated that this dual harmonic structure is beneficial in alleviating mechanical mismatch between hetero-domains and fully exploiting the hetero-deformation induced hardening, thereby leading to a high strain hardening rate and large uniform elongation. As a result, the material exhibits a better strength-ductility synergy (an ultimate tensile strength of 1338 MPa and a uniform elongation of 7.7%) than both the one-level harmonic and homogeneously structured materials. The present ‘tailoring structural heterogeneity through manipulating hydrogen-enabled eutectoid transformation’ strategy offers a different pathway to design and fabricate novel heterogeneously structured titanium alloys with a high strength-ductility synergy.

Abstract Plant wearable sensors facilitate the real‐time monitoring of plant physiological status. In situ monitoring of the plant chlorophyll content over days can provide valuable information on the photosynthetic capacity, nitrogen content, and general plant health. However, it cannot be achieved by current chlorophyll measuring methods. Here, a miniaturized and plant‐wearable chlorophyll meter for rapid, non‐destructive, in situ, and long‐term chlorophyll monitoring is developed. The reflectance‐based chlorophyll sensor with 1.5 mm thickness and 0.2 g weight (1000 times lighter than the commercial chlorophyll meter), includes a light emitting diode (LED) and two symmetric photodetectors (PDs) on a flexible substrate, and is patched onto the leaf upper epidermis with a conformal light guiding layer. A chlorophyll content index (CCI) calculated based on the sensor shows a better linear relationship with the leaf chlorophyll content (r2 > 0.9) than the traditional chlorophyll meter. This meter can wirelessly communicate with a smartphone to monitor the leaf chlorophyll change under various stresses and indicate the unhealthy status of plants for long‐term application of plants under various stresses earlier than chlorophyll meter and naked‐eye observation. This wearable chlorophyll sensing patch is promising in smart and precision agriculture.

Compared with the traditional anthraquinone method, photocatalytic production of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) has the advantages of clean and environmental protection, mild conditions, and low power consumption. Graphite carbon nitride (g-C3N4) is a promising photocatalyst for H2O2 production. However, owing to its small specific surface area, narrow light response range, and easy recombination of photogenerated electron-hole, the efficiency of H2O2 production is relatively low. In this paper, porous graphite carbon nitride (pg-C3N4) was synthesized by using melamine hydrochloride as precursor, and carbon quantum dots (CQDs) were loaded on its surface to prepare pg-C3N4/CQDs composite photocatalyst. The structure, morphology, and optical and electrochemical properties of the samples were characterized by XRD, TEM, UV-Vis, TP, PL, and so on. The catalyst has a large specific surface area. At the same time, the optical characteristics of CQDs and its good properties of capturing and transferring electrons greatly improve the light response range of the composite photocatalyst (even reaching the near-infrared region), and effectively inhibit the recombination of photogenerated electron-hole. In the H2O2 production experiment under the visible light, pg-C3N4/CQDs showed higher photocatalytic H2O2 production activity. After reaction for 5 h, the H2O2 concentration reached 0.301 mmol/L, which was 27 and 13 times those of g-C3N4 and pg-C3N4, respectively. Finally, the possible mechanism of photocatalytic H2O2 production by pg-C3N4/CQDs was proposed through free radical capture experiment.

Grassland health assessment (GHA) is a bridge of study and management of grassland ecosystem. However, there is no standardized quantitative indicators and long-term monitor methods for GHA at a large scale, which may hinder theoretical study and practical application of GHA. In this study, along with previous concept and practices (i.e., CVOR, the integrated indexes of condition, vigor, organization and resilience), we proposed an assessment system based on the indicators monitored by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)-UAVCVOR, and tested the feasibility of UAVCVOR at typical household pastures on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, China. Our findings show that: (1) the key indicators of GHA could be measured directly or represented by the relative counterpart indicators that monitored by UAVs, (2) there was a significantly linear relationship between CVOR estimated by field- and UAV-based data, and (3) the CVOR decreased along with the increasing grazing intensity nonlinearly, and there are similar tendencies of CVOR that estimated by the two methods. These findings suggest that UAVs is suitable for GHA efficiently and correctly, which will be useful for the protection and sustainable management of grasslands.

Nowadays, the companion animals (dogs or other pets) are considered as members of the family and have established strong emotional relationships with their owners. Dogs are long lived compared to food animals, so safety, adequacy, and efficacy of dog food is of great importance for their health. Cereals, cereal by-products as well as feedstuffs of plant origin are commonly employed food resources in dry food, yet are potential ingredients for mycotoxins contamination, so dogs are theoretically more vulnerable to exposure when consumed daily. Aflatoxins (AF), deoxynivalenol (DON), fumonisins (FUM), ochratoxin A (OTA), and zearalenone (ZEA) are the most frequent mycotoxins that might present in dog food and cause toxicity on the growth and metabolism of dogs. An understanding of toxicological effects and detoxification methods (physical, chemical, or biological approaches) of mycotoxins will help to improve commercial ped food quality, reduce harm and minimize exposure to dogs. Herein, we outline a description of mycotoxins detected in dog food, toxicity and clinical findings in dogs, as well as methods applied in mycotoxins detoxification. This review aims to provide a reference for future studies involved in the evaluation of the risk, preventative strategies, and clear criteria of mycotoxins for minimizing exposure, reducing harm, and preventing mycotoxicosis in dog.

Materials exhibiting negative Poisson’s ratio (NPR) effects possess several advantageous properties, including high specific strength, specific stiffness, and impact resistance. As a result, they hold significant importance in various industries such as aerospace, medicine, transportation, sports, and other related fields. In the realm of natural materials, the NPR effect is infrequent. Consequently, the creation of an NPR structure necessitates a manual design. In this paper, we present an architected lattice system inspired by ancient Chinese window grills. The proposed system exhibits a unique combination of chiral and re-entrant properties. Experiments and numerical simulations were conducted in order to quantify the variation in NPR and elucidate the deformation mechanism of window grill structures. We observed a significant NPR effect in our designed structure, which was found to be dependent on the geometric parameters of the structure. The present study provides a foundation for the development of a new category of partially auxetic lattice metamaterials and the expansion of their design possibilities.

Grazing management is one of the most widely practiced land uses globally. Quantifying the spatiotemporal distribution of livestock is critical for effective management of livestock-grassland grazing ecosystem. However, to date, there are few convincing solutions for livestock dynamic monitor and key parameters quantification under actual grazing situations. In this study, we proposed a pragmatic method for quantifying the grazing density (GD) and herding proximities (HP) based on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). We further tested its feasibility at three typical household pastures on the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, China. We found that: (1) yak herds grazing followed a rotational grazing pattern spontaneously within the pastures, (2) Dispersion Index of yak herds varied as an M-shaped curve within one day, and it was the lowest in July and August, and (3) the average distance between the yak herd and the campsites in the cold season was significantly shorter than that in the warm season. In this study, we developed a method to characterize the dynamic GD and HP of yak herds precisely and effectively. This method is ideal for studying animal behavior and determining the correlation between the distribution of pastoral livestock and resource usability, delivering critical information for the development of grassland ecosystem and the implementation of sustainable grassland management.

The importance of humble leadership has garnered attention from both researchers and practitioners. Unfortunately, despite the accumulation of recent findings on the effects of leader humility, a quantitative review remains scant. In addressing this void, this study is among the first to conduct a meta-analytic review of humble leadership and its outcomes. Eighty-four correlations (N = 16,534) from 53 independent studies are synthesized. The authors found that: (a) humble leadership is positively related to affective commitment (ρ = 0.56), affective trust (ρ = 0.62), creativity (ρ = 0.39), engagement (ρ = 0.40), leader–member exchange (LMX) (ρ = 0.58), job satisfaction (ρ = 0.51), organizational identification (ρ = 0.48), psychological empowerment (ρ = 0.33), self-efficacy (ρ = 0.24), task performance (ρ = 0.33), and voice (ρ = 0.34); and that (b) humble leadership contributes a significant incremental variance beyond transformational, servant, and ethical leadership in several crucial criterion variables, providing solid evidence for the construct's uniqueness. However, humble leadership does not explain incremental variance in some criterion variables, indicating that future studies should control for the influence of some positive leadership (e.g., transformational and servant leadership). Age, gender, study design, country, and year partially moderate the correlations of interest. We discuss our findings with caution and propose future research directions.

This paper provides the first meta-analytic examination of the relationship between leadership and followers' intrinsic motivation. In particular, we examined 6 leadership variables (transformational, ethical, leader-member exchange, servant, empowering, and abusive supervision) using data from 50 independent samples and 21,873 participants. We found that transformational leadership, ethical leadership, leader-member exchange (LMX), servant leadership, and empowering leadership were positively related to intrinsic motivation, whereas abusive supervision was negatively linked to intrinsic motivation. Although these leadership styles were associated with intrinsic motivation, they varied considerably in their relative importance. Empowering, ethical, and servant leadership emerged as the more important contributors to intrinsic motivation than transformational leadership. LMX showed a similar contribution with transformational leadership to intrinsic motivation. Effectiveness of leadership styles in relation to intrinsic motivation varied by power distance, publication year, and journal quality. Drawing on our findings, we discuss the theoretical and practice implications.

Plant species diversity (PSD) is essential in evaluating the function and developing the management and conservation strategies of grassland. However, over a large region, an efficient and high precision method to monitor multiscale PSD (α-, β-, and γ-diversity) is lacking. In this study, we proposed and improved an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-based PSD monitoring method (UAVB) and tested the feasibility, and meanwhile, explored the potential relationship between multiscale PSD and precipitation on the alpine grassland of the source region of the Yellow River (SRYR), China. Our findings showed that: (1) UAVB was more representative (larger monitoring areas and more species identified with higher α- and γ-diversity) than the traditional ground-based monitoring method, though a few specific species (small in size) were difficult to identify; (2) UAVB is suitable for monitoring the multiscale PSD over a large region (the SRYR in this study), and the improvement by weighing the dominance of species improved the precision of α-diversity (higher R2 and lower P values of the linear regressions); and (3) the species diversity indices (α- and β-diversity) increased first and then they tended to be stable with the increase of precipitation in SRYR. These findings conclude that UAVB is suitable for monitoring multiscale PSD of an alpine grassland community over a large region, which will be useful for revealing the relationship of diversity–function, and helpful for conservation and sustainable management of the alpine grassland.

Abstract Background Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play an important role in the multiple differentiations of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). However, few studies have focused on the regulatory mechanism of lncRNAs in the odontogenic differentiation of human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs). Methods hDPSCs were induced to differentiate into odontoblasts in vitro, and the expression profiles of lncRNAs, microRNAs (miRNAs), and messenger RNAs (mRNAs) in differentiated and undifferentiated cells were obtained by microarray. Bioinformatics analyses including Gene Ontology (GO) analysis, pathway analysis, and binding site prediction were performed for functional annotation of lncRNA. miRNA/odontogenesis-related gene networks and lncRNA-associated ceRNA networks were constructed. Quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) was used to verify the expression of selected genes. RNA fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH), qRT-PCR, and western blot analysis were used to explore the location and function of lncRNA-G043225. Dual-luciferase reporter assay was performed to confirm the binding sites of miR-588 with G043225 and Fibrillin 1 (FBN1). Results We identified 132 lncRNAs, 114 miRNAs, and 172 mRNAs were differentially expressed. GO analysis demonstrated that regulation of the neurogenic locus notch homolog (Notch), Wnt, and epidermal growth factor receptor (ERBB) signaling pathways and activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) activity were related to odontogenic differentiation. Pathway analysis indicated that the most significant pathway was the forkhead box O (FoxO) signaling pathway, which is related to odontogenic differentiation. Two odontogenesis-related gene-centered lncRNA-associated ceRNA networks were successfully constructed. The qRT-PCR validation results were consistent with the microarray analysis. G043225 mainly locating in cytoplasm was proved to promote the odontogenic differentiation of hDPSCs via miR-588 and FBN1. Conclusion This is the first study revealing lncRNA-associated ceRNA network during odontogenic differentiation of hDPSCs using microarray, and it could provide clues to explore the mechanism of action at the RNA-RNA level as well as novel treatments for dentin regeneration based on stem cells.

The algorithm in this paper is called semantic information supplementary pyramid network(SIS-net). We choose Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) as its fundamental model. SIS-net's generator imitates the feature pyramid network (FPN) structure to recycle features spanning across multiple receptive scales to restore a sharp image. However, to solve the problem caused by the phenomenon of semantic dilution in the FPN network, we have innovatively designed a semantic information supplement (SIS) mechanism. SIS mechanism contains two essential components: semantic information storage box (info-box) and feature fusion expanding. In the process of feature fusion expanding, the semantic information features coming from the info-box is supplemented to make greater use of detailed clues. In addition, SIS-net uses the intermediate layer path to extract image features in a single time to obtain a multi-scale effect. The running speed of SIS-net has obvious advantages over other algorithms, and can basically complete real-time deblurring tasks. Extensive experiments show that our SIS-net achieves both qualitative and quantitative improvements against state-of-the-art methods. Based on extremely uneven temperature distribution along the insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) chip vertical path during switching transients, a short-duration transient microsecond-scale prediction model applicable to multi-timescale simulation is presented in this paper. Traditional thermal models often take the chip active area as a uniform heat source to obtain a victual junction temperature (Tvj). In this paper, a discrete distributed heat source model combined with a thermal network model based on the sublayer division strategy is proposed to achieve an accurate temperature distribution description along the chip vertical path. Taking a 1700 V/3600 A IGBT module as an example, the proposed model can evaluate the short-duration transient temperature distribution along the chip vertical path and the error is less than 2 °C compared with the finite element model. Meanwhile, the model is applied to a single short-duration transient timescale and multi-timescale systems separately, and the simulation speed is increased by more than 80 times and 297 times, which verifies its validity and accuracy.

Background. Exosomes from human dental pulp stem cells (hDPSCs) were indicated to play a positive role in vascular regeneration processes. But the angiogenic capabilities of exosomes from inflammatory hDPSCs and the underlying mechanism remain unknown. In this study, the inflammatory factor lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was used to stimulate hDPSCs, and exosomes were extracted from these hDPSCs. The proangiogenic potential of exosomes was examined, and the underlying mechanism was studied. Method. Exosomes were isolated from hDPSCs with or without LPS stimulation (N-EXO and LPS-EXO) and cocultured with human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs). The proangiogenic potential of exosomes was evaluated by endothelial cell proliferation, migration, and tube formation abilities in vitro. To investigate the proangiogenic mechanism of LPS-EXO, microRNA sequencing was performed to explore the microRNA profile of N-EXO and LPS-EXO. Gene Ontology (GO) analysis was used to study the functions of the predicted target genes. Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis was used to estimate the signaling pathways associated with the inflammation-induced angiogenesis process. Result. Compared to the uptake of N-EXO, uptake of LPS-EXO activated the angiogenic potential of HUVECs by promoting the proliferation, migration, and tube formation abilities in vitro. The mRNA expression levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and kinase-insert domain-containing receptor (KDR) in the LPS-EXO group were significantly higher than those in the N-EXO group. MicroRNA sequencing showed that 10 microRNAs were significantly changed in LPS-EXO. Pathway analysis showed that the genes targeted by differentially expressed microRNAs were involved in multiple angiogenesis-related pathways. Conclusion. This study revealed that exosomes derived from inflammatory hDPSCs possessed better proangiogenic potential in vitro. This is the first time to explore the role of exosomal microRNA from hDPSCs in inflammation-induced angiogenesis. This finding sheds new light on the effect of inflammation-stimulated hDPSCs on tissue regeneration.
