Reperfusion after acute myocardial infarction can cause ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury, which not only impedes restoration of the functions of tissues and organs but may also aggravate structural tissue and organ damage and dysfunction, worsening the patient’s condition. Thus, the mechanisms that underpin myocardial I/R injury need to be better understood. We aimed to examine the effect of dexmedetomidine on macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) in cardiomyocytes from mice with myocardial I/R injury and to explore the mechanistic role of adenosine 5ʹ-monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK) signaling in this process. Myocardial I/R injury was induced in mice. The expression of serum inflammatory factors, reactive oxygen species (ROS), adenosine triphosphate (ATP), and AMPK pathway-related proteins, as well as myocardial tissue structure and cell apoptosis rate, were compared between mice with I/R injury only; mice with I/R injury treated with dexmedetomidine, ISO-1 (MIF inhibitor), or both; and sham-operated mice. Dexmedetomidine reduced serum interleukin (IL)-6 and tumor necrosis factor-α concentrations and increased IL-10 concentration in mice with I/R injury. Moreover, dexmedetomidine reduced myocardial tissue ROS content and apoptosis rate and increased ATP content and MIF expression. MIF inhibition using ISO-1 reversed the protective effect of dexmedetomidine on myocardial I/R injury and reduced AMPK phosphorylation. Dexmedetomidine reduces the inflammatory response in mice with I/R injury and improves adverse symptoms, and its mechanism of action may be related to the MIF-AMPK pathway.

To verify that HIF-1α/HKII pathway is the key mechanism to alleviate myocardial ischemiareperfusion (IR) injury in aged mice through HIF-1α and HKII inhibitors. A mouse I/R model was carried out in young and old C57BL/6 mice for 60 min and reperfusion for 120 min. Mice were injected intraperitoneally with AAV-9 virus to introduce HIF-1α 24 h before ischemia. After 2 h of reperfusion, the mitochondrial ultrastructure, ATP content, membrane potential, and protein expression of HIF-1α, LC3, Bax, Bcl-2, Caspese-9, Caspase-3, and Cyt-3 were detected. After 24 h, the myocardial infarction area and cardiac ability were evaluated. Young mice and old mice have different protective effects after acute ischemia/reperfusion injury. After the introduction of HIF-1α by AAV-9 virus, the expression of the downstream target gene HKII can be up-regulated. At the same time, it reduces the expression of key proteins LC3, Bax, Caspese-9, and Caspase-3. Stabilize the membrane potential, ultimately reduce the area of myocardial infarction and improve heart function. Young mice and old mice have different protective effects after acute ischemia/reperfusion injury. The I/R in the older is caused by HIF-1α. HIF-1α inhibits the opening of mPTP by up-regulating HKII, stabilizes mitochondrial membrane potential, protects mitochondrial integrity, and reduces myocardial ischemia-reperfusion damage to the myocardium of elderly mice.

Face emojis are regularly used in reviews on online shopping sites to add richness and/or levity to the text. However, few researchers have investigated the use of face emojis in consumer reviews. This paper examined the effects of the number of face emojis (none, one, and three) in user-generated reviews (UGRs) on trustworthiness and purchase intention. They found that the number of face emojis in UGRs has a profound impact on consumers. A greater number of face emojis correlates with a greater degree of review trustworthiness. However, the effect of emojis on purchase intention changes depending on the situation. Additionally, when there is a profile picture, consumers pay more attention to it, and the positive effect due to face emojis disappears. Moreover, the gift giver-recipient relationship moderates the effect of face emojis on user decisions. The findings of our work have theoretical and managerial implications with respect to providing a new means of understanding consumer perceptions of products, from which business can benefit by improving sales and policies.

Aim: This study is to establish a model for patients undergoing cardiac surgery under cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) to predict the length of intensive care. Methods: This is a single center retrospective study. A total of 265 patients admitted to the ICU after CPB from 2016 to 2017 were enrolled in the study. Preoperative indicators, intraoperative parameters, and postoperative data were collected. Each patient was scored for EuroSCORE II before surgery. According to the length of intensive care, all patients were divided into two groups: short stay (< 72 h) and long stay (≥ 72 h). A binary logistic regression analysis was performed to establish a regression model to evaluate the predictive performance of the indicators and the EuroSCORE II scoring system on the length of the intensive care. Results: Both troponin I and EuroSCORE II could predict the length of intensive care of patients undergoing cardiac surgery under CPB. After combing the two factors, the prediction efficiency was higher. Comparing the prediction results with the actual data, it showed that the method had high overall accuracy. Conclusions: The predictive model based on cTnI and EuroSCORE II can accurately predict the length of intensive care of patients undergoing cardiac surgery under CPB. This predictive model may help to improve ICU resource management.

The rapid development of digitalization has introduced greater variability and trust-related risks to the banking industry. Enhancing customers’ perception of value co-creation with banks is a critical issue that requires attention. This study aims to explore the impact and mechanism of a bank’s social responsibility practices on its customers’ value co-creation in the digital context. A cross-level analysis model was developed and analyzed based on in-depth surveys of 30 bank managers and 262 valid customers. The results reveal that (1) CSR practices have no impact on customer value co-creation in the digital context; (2) CSR practices have a positive impact on customers’ perception of a company’s social responsibility; (3) customers’ perception of a company’s social responsibility has a positive impact on customer value co-creation; and (4) customers’ perception plays a mediating role between CSR practices and customer value co-creation. Although corporate social responsibility is becoming increasingly important in the current digital economy, our study found that it does not necessarily lead to more customer value co-creation. Banks must enable customers to perceive their CSR practices in order to foster value co-creation. This study has important implications for banking practitioners seeking to strengthen their social responsibility practices and create value with their customers in the digital era.

Introduction: The objective of this study is to investigate the protective mechanism of dexmedetomidine (Dex) in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (MIR)-induced acute lung injury (ALI) of diabetic rats by inhibiting hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α). Methods: Initially, healthy male Sprague Dawley rats were treated with streptozocin to induce diabetes. Then, three weeks after the induction, Dex or lentiviral vector (LV)-HIF-1α was injected into the rats 30 minutes prior to the MIR modeling. After four weeks, lung tissues were harvested for pathological changes observation and the wet/dry weight (W/D) ratio determination. Afterwards, oxidative stress indicators and pro-inflammatory factors were measured. In addition, HIF-1α expression was assessed by immunohistochemistry and western blot analysis. Results: Dex could suppress inflammatory cell infiltration, improve lung tissue structure, reduce pathological score and the W/D ratio, and block oxidative stress and inflammatory response in MIR-induced ALI of diabetic rats. Besides, Dex could also inhibit HIF-1α expression. Moreover, Dex + LV-HIF-1α reversed the protective role of Dex on diabetic MIR-induced ALI. Conclusion: Our study has made it clear that Dex inhibited the upregulation of HIF-1α in diabetic MIR-induced ALI, and thus protect lung functions by quenching the accumulation of oxygen radical and reducing lung inflammatory response.

As social media has developed, online interaction between consumers and companies has increased rapidly. This research explores how companies' replies to consumers' past online comments affect consumers' predictions of their chances of winning randomly determined associated rewards (e.g., a random drawing). The results of two studies show that consumers who left positive comments (encouragement/appreciation) and then received a reply from the company predicted a higher likelihood of winning a random drawing than those whose comments did not receive company replies. Both the boundary and the underlying mechanism of the effect are discussed in the research. The present research contributes to the literature on companies' online reply patterns by linking their online replies with consumer predictions concerning randomly determined rewards, extends consumer efforts from offline purchases to online comments, and provides insights into the differences between consumer predictions regarding traditional offline promotional events and online promotional events.

Public health information with a fear appeal is often used to promote people's positive health intentions. Anchored by the extended parallel process model and trait activation theory, in this study we examined the effects of self- versus other-directed outcomes, Machiavellianism, and hypothetical distance on the effectiveness of fear-appeal information in the context of COVID-19. In an online survey of 303 people in Wuhan, China, we found that respondents high in Machiavellianism reported stronger antipandemic intentions in response to a self-directed compared to an other-directed outcome message. This effect was actualized through the trait of Machiavellianism, moderated by hypothetical distance, and mediated by perceived severity. Our findings have implications for the effective development and delivery of public health information for specific groups, and for encouraging more detailed exploration of personality in relation to epidemiology.

Prior studies mainly focused on the effects of particulate air pollution on physiological health, relatively few researchers paid attention to psychological well-being. There is lacuna of knowledge on the effects of air pollution on aesthetic preferences. To fill this gap this study examines ten sample sites of urban green space, and eight photographs were taken on each site (seven photographs on the tenth site) in eight days, respectively. These photographs on a site contained the same scene. The aesthetic preference and perceived air quality of the photographs were evaluated by 766 participants, and wind speed, amount of clouds in the sky, particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10) of each site were measured in situ when the photographs were taken. The results suggest that: (a) percentage of sky covered by cloud, PM2.5 and PM10 have significantly negative correlations with aesthetic preference and perceived air quality, while the regression analysis indicates that percentage of sky covered by cloud is the sole predictor for both aesthetic preference and perceived air quality; (b) perceived air quality is the reliable predictor of aesthetic preference. These findings contribute new knowledge to understand the particulate air pollution's effect on psychological well-being.

Background Reperfusion of ischemic tissue has adverse impact on the myocardium. Dexmedetomidine (Dex) is a α2-adrenergic receptor (α2-AR) agonist with sedative and analgesic effects. Macrophage migration inhibition factor (MIF) is a pressure-regulating cytokine and is responsible for inflammatory and immune diseases. This study aims to reveal the consequences of Dex on myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) in young mice. Methods Fifty mice were raised and examined. At the end of the experiment, all mice were euthanized. The anterior descending department of the left coronary artery in mice was under ischemia for 60 min, then the ligation line was released and reperfused for 120 min to establish the IRI model. Mice were randomly divided into Sham, control, treatment using 4,5-dihydro-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-5-isoxazoleacetic acid (ISO-1), Dex treatment, and Dex combined ISO-1 treatment groups. Interleukin (IL)-6, IL-10 and tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α) were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Reactive oxygen species (ROS) and ATP levels were recorded. The expressions of MIF, P-adenosine monophosphate-activated kinase α (AMPKα), glucose transporter (GLUT)4, Bax and Bcl-2 were detected by Western Blot (WB). Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining was used to study cell morphology. Apoptosis was detected by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labelling (TUNEL) assay. Echocardiography was carried out at the end of reperfusion, and the infarct size was calculated by Electron microscopy. Results I/R + Dex group showed significantly increased IL-6 and TNF-α levels and reduced myocardial cell necrosis and apoptosis. H&E staining showed alleviated myocardial disorder, myocardial cell swelling, myocardial fiber fracture, and inflammatory cell infiltration in I/R + Dex group. Myocardial cell necrosis and apoptosis were significantly reduced in I/R + Dex group. ATP level in myocardial tissue of mice in I/R group was substantially decreased, while that in Dex group was increased. WB results showed that MIF, P-AMPK α, GLUT4 and Bcl-2 levels were increased and Bax levels were decreased in I/R + Dex group. Conclusion Dex may exert myocardial protection in young mice through MIF/AMPK/GLUT4 axis.

Cognitive dysfunction is a common disease in aging population. This study aims to compare the influence of different degrees of anemia on the cognitive function of patients undergo hysteromyoma surgery. Sixty-one patients aged 18–60 years who underwent uterine fibroid surgery in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Shantou University Medical College from March 2019 to December 2020 were selected for this study. Patients were divided into three groups: group normal (Group N, patients have no anemia), group of mild anemia (Group Mi, patients have mild anemia) and group of moderate anemia (Group Mo, patients had moderate anemia). Combined spinal and epidural anesthesia were administered. Cognitive function tests were performed 1 day before the surgery and repeated at the 5th and 30th days after surgery. Peripheral venous blood samples from patients were collected before the surgery, right after surgery and at the 24th and 72nd hours after surgery. The contents of S-100β, IL-6, TNF-α and IL-1β in serum samples were determined by ELISA. It was found that there were no significant differences in general characteristics of patients among Group N, Group Mi and Group Mo (p > 0.05). Nine patients developed postoperative cognitive dysfunction after surgery, and the incidence was 14.75% (9/61). The incidence of postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) was 40% in Group Mo, which was higher than that in Group N and Group Mi. The difference was statistically significant (p < 0.05). Inflammatory factors in patients with POCD were higher in post-surgery than before-surgery (p < 0.05), while there was no statistical significance in the difference of inflammatory factors of patients without POCD before and after surgery (p > 0.05). Taken together, this study suggested that moderate anemia could be a risk factor of POCD in patients undergoing hysteromyoma surgeries. This study will help surgeons developing measures for preventing the occurrence of POCD.

BACKGROUND: Diminished mitochondrial autophagy in aged myocardium may be due to impaired HIF-1α protein expression. Previous studies confirmed that upregulation of HIF-1α expression protects myocardial tissue from ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury and found that sevoflurane post-conditioning (SpostC) mediated mitochondrial autophagy plays a significant role in myocardial protection. However, the protective mechanism of SpostC in aged myocardium is unclear. This study aimed to investigate whether SpostC regulates BNIP3 - mediated mitochondrial autophagy by upregulating HIF-1α expression, thus alleviating myocardial I/R injury in aged mice.Methods: An in vivo mouse model of myocardial I/R injury was established and treated with sevoflurane at the time of reperfusion, and at the end of reperfusion, echocardiographic changes, myocardial infarct size, mitochondrial ultrastructure, and autophagosomes were measured, mitochondrial respiratory function and enzyme activity were detected, serum LDH, CKM, CK-MB, TNNT2, IL-6 levels were determined, and Western blot was used to examine the expression levels of phosphorylated HIF-1α, LC3-II, BNIP3, Beclin1, TLR9, and IL-6 protein in myocardial tissue.RESULTS: In young, healthy myocardium, SpostC upregulated the expression of HIF-1α, activated the downstream target gene BNIP3 protein, and upregulated the expression levels of autophagy essential proteins LC3-II, Beclin-1, and TLR9, attenuated myocardial oxidative stress injury, stabilized mitochondrial ultrastructure, inhibited cardiomyocyte apoptosis, and ultimately reduced myocardial infarct size. In aged myocardium, SpostC also played an excellent myocardial protective role.CONCLUSION: SpostC was able to upregulate HIF-1α expression, promote BNIP3-mediated mitochondrial autophagy, reduce myocardial infarct size, and alleviate myocardial I/R injury in aged mice.

We present VOLKS2, the second release of "VLBI Observation for transient Localization Keen Searcher". The pipeline aims at transient search in regular VLBI observations as well as detection of single pulses from known sources in dedicated VLBI observations. The underlying method takes the idea of geodetic VLBI data processing, including fringe fitting to maximize the signal power and geodetic VLBI solving for localization. By filtering the candidate signals with multiple windows within a baseline and by cross matching with multiple baselines, RFIs are eliminated effectively. Unlike the station auto spectrum based method, RFI flagging is not required in the VOLKS2 pipeline. EVN observation (EL060) is carried out, so as to verify the pipeline's detection efficiency and localization accuracy in the whole FoV. The pipeline is parallelized with MPI and further accelerated with GPU, so as to exploit the hardware resources of modern GPU clusters. We can prove that, with proper optimization, VOLKS2 could achieve comparable performance as auto spectrum based pipelines. Although considerable attention has been paid to the application of leadership in virtual communities, the field of live streaming has not been involved. This exploratory study aimed to explore how different broadcaster leadership traits (charismatic, authoritarian, and servant) influence audiences’ loyalty (cognitive and conative). And audience self-construal was chosen as a key moderator. The top 15 broadcasters from the regional rankings were selected from each of the two popular live streaming platforms, Douyu and YouTube, for the study. And we used snowball sampling with a link to an online questionnaire as a recruitment procedure. 310 audiences with live streaming experience from the Chinese Mainland and Taiwan participated. Hierarchical linear modeling was adopted for the analysis. This study found that broadcasters with servant and charismatic leadership traits positively affected cognitive loyalty. Broadcasters with servant leadership traits also had a positive effect on conative loyalty. Additionally, independent self-construal negatively moderated the relationship between servant leadership and cognitive loyalty. Independent self-construal positively moderated the relationship between authoritarian leadership and conative loyalty. Furthermore, interdependent self-construal negatively moderated the relationship between charismatic leadership and conative loyalty. Interdependent self-construal positively moderated the relationship between authoritarian leadership and conative loyalty. These conclusions extend the understanding of broadcasters’ traits and audiences’ psychology concerning the booming phenomenon of live streaming and can help platform managers motivate audiences’ loyalty on these platforms.

Continuously increasing municipal solid waste (MSW) generation, which has resulted in serious environmental pollution, resource consumption, and health problems, requires a disposal stream for improved recycling and reuse. In this study, a novel methodology is proposed that combines advanced “hard path” technologies and “soft path” policy to facilitate an effective and sustainable waste-to-energy approach. Multiple tech-economic MSW cascaded systems were established and combined for MSW terminal treatment, and a subsidy policy was applied to waste source management. Furthermore, an MSW reverse supply chain (MSWRSC) was proposed that integrates waste source and end treatment management, and a multi-objective mixed-integer dynamic model was established to optimize the MSW treatment process by achieving cost control, carbon emission reduction, and job creation. A practical case study was then conducted to provide the analysis paradigm including the system deployment and facilities operation. Further, some important conclusions and suggestions are summarized for reference by the local government and facilities. Therefore, the methodology that combines the cascade treatment systems with policy instruments shows important theoretical and pragmatic significance for the multi-dimensional sustainable development of MSW management.

Greatly increase of municipal solid waste (MSW) generation has resulted serious environmental pollution, resources consumption and health problems, which promotes the its disposal stream transfer to recycle and reuse. In this paper, the advanced MSW disposal technologies combination are developed to dispose MSW and convert it into clean products. Simulatively, the waste sorting behavior and carbon tax have considered into the paper to explore and examinable the feasibility of policies. A parallel reverse logistics is developed to reflect the whole process of WtE, after which a parallelized optimization model is proposed to achieve the waste reduction, and cost and pollutant control. A practical case study is then conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness and practicality of the proposed methodology and to examine the performance and benefit of different waste sorting behaviors through decision making perspectively. Scenario analyses with different residents’ participation level under the sorting subsidies are conducted and some important conclusions and suggestions are summarized and given. The paper found technology combination and waste sorting are efficiently regulate MSW which achieved the goals of environmental protection, resources saving and social sustainable.

The far-reaching distribution distance is a challenging problem in the rural UAV logistics market. With the use of UAV recharging stations, the maximum flight distance of the UAV can be extended, which greatly reduces the total time to complete the truck delivery. This paper mainly discuss a route planning problem of a single drone and truck under the construction of recharging stations during the package delivery, which is a single-objective optimization process. A mixed integer linear programming (MILP) formulation is proposed to solve the above problem. Finally, the results of an illustrative instance are calculated to show the feasibility and accuracy of our model.
