Interhalogen-doped fullerenes have been prepared by using iodine monochloride (ICI) as a dopant. SQUID magnetization measurements reveal signatures of superconductivity in these samples with a superconductive transition temperature above 60K. These new carbon-superconductors are stable in air.

No matter how efficient the supply chain is, a bad shelf replenishment procedure would greatly reduce the performance of the retail supply chain. In this paper, some critical factors influencing retail supply chains were investigated. In the beginning, most shelf replenishment policies using in retail stores were investigated. We would then look at those policies which cause shelf replenishment delays and sales lost. There are two basic shelf replenishment policies, namely, the push and pull styles operations. The policypsilas impacts to the efficiency of retail supply chain were analyzed and compared. In the second part of the paper, RFID hardware devices installed in retail store is assumed. Based on a real case study, the devices setup is transferred to model in simulation software. By using simulation analysis, we hoped to estimate RFIDpsilas impacts to different shelf replenishment policies in retail store. Finally, from the simulation results, we show that RFID technology could bring certain level of benefits to current retail store shelf replenishment operations if it is used in suitable way.

The effects of surface alteration on CuInSe2 thin films by KCN etching and subsequent (NH4)2Sx sulfur passivation as well as the formation of higher bandgap CuIn(S,Se)2 layer were investigated. After these chemical treatments, no oxygen uptake was observed and a significant number of sulfur atoms were found to diffuse into the Sb-incoporated CuInSe2 thin films to form a stable and higher bandgap CuIn(S,Se)2 layer. A model is proposed to explain how Sb atoms in CuInSe2 thin films can create a pathway for fast replacement of Se by S atoms. Also, Cu segregation from Cu-rich CuInSe2 thin films was directly verified for the first time by the experiments of angular dependence of x-ray fluorescence.

An extended-resistively-shunted-junction model is described to account for some nonequilibrium effects in superconducting weak links. The theory is based on a one-dimensional linearized time-dependent Ginzburg-Landau equation subject to rigid-boundary conditions. An analytical solution has been obtained by WKB approximation in the low-voltage region, and it can be used to calculate the complete position and time dependence of the supercurrent and pair densities. The supercurrent contains a $cos\ensuremath{\varphi}$ term which appears in good agreement with experimental results. The pair density also contains a similar $cos\ensuremath{\varphi}$ term. Several length- and temperature-dependent effects are predicted. It is shown that this model gives a quantitative description of the phase-slip process at the center of the weak link.

Experiments on cyclotron resonance of the Azbel'-Kaner type were performed on pure Bi at 34.5 kMc/sec. Angular variation of the cyclotron masses for both the electrons and the holes with the magnetic field in the binary, bisectrix, and trigonal planes were studied. For the electrons in Bi, the tilt angle of the Fermi surface in the crystallographic coordinate system was directly measured. The mass parameters in Cohen's nonellipsoidal-nonparabolic model were determined for the first time. The inverse effective mass tensor components in Shoenberg's ellipsoidal-parabolic model were completely determined by using the tilt angle. The results indicate that the ellipsoidal-parabolic model is unable to explain quantitatively all the angular variation in the electron cyclotron masses. One particular case of Cohen's model corresponding to electron Fermi surfaces at centers of the six pseudohexagonal faces of the Brillouin zone was shown to be in better agreement with the experimental results. Angular variation of the light-hole cyclotron masses with field in the three crystallographic planes were fitted quite satisfactorily by the one-spheroid model. No resonance of a heavy hole was observed in this experiment.

It is shown that the absorption coefficient of weakly-damped Alfven-waves exhibits standing wave oscillations, amplitude of which grows exponentially in an increasing magnetic field. Measurements of the power absorption as a function of magnetic field are used to make a direct determination of the relaxation-time of the charge-carriers in single crystals of bismuth.

Magnetoresistance oscillations (Shubnikov-de Haas effect) and Azbel-Kaner cyclotron resonance were studied in a dilute Bi-Sb alloy (Sb concentration of 0.96 wt.%) at 4.2\ifmmode^\circ\else\textdegree\fi{}K for various orientations of the magnetic field. It was found that the electron masses, and the extremal cross-sectional areas of the electron Fermi surface, decrease to approximately 80 and 62%, respectively, of the corresponding values in pure Bi. The observed changes in cyclotron masses and Shubnikov-de Haas frequencies in the alloys are consistent with the nonparabolic model and the assumption of rigid motion of the conduction band, and the valence band just beneath it, with respect to the hole band. Effective masses at the bottom of the conduction band were calculated. The electron Fermi energy and concentration in the alloy were determined. The band overlap deduced from this result is in agreement with other work.

Resistive transitions in Pb films (4.6 × 10 −4 cm thick) have been studied at 4.2°K with different measuring currents and various orientation of a transverse magnetic field. Surface superconductivity and an anomalous transition behaviour were observed.

The r.f. absorption in a finite solid-state plasma subject to a d.c. magnetic field is considered. The existence of a size-dependent absorption maximum is demonstrated, and comparison is made with data from Bismuth plates. This method allows a direct determination of the skin depth.
