Background Kawasaki Disease (KD), which is mainly characterized by systemic small and medium vasculitis in children, can lead to coronary artery lesions (CALs). Our previous study identified that STAT3 signaling plays essential roles during the acute phase of KD patients. However, whether its interacted protein MDM2 (Murine double minute 2), which functions as an E3 ligase is likewise involved in KD pathogenesis still unknown and remains to be investigated. Methods The role of MDM2 was investigated using the whole-blood samples from KD patients with CALs before and after IVIG treatment. The plasma and peripheral blood mononuclear cells were respectively isolated and collected. Meanwhile, a Candida albicans cell wall extracts (CAWS)‑induced KD mouse model was used to analyze the in vivo functions of MDM2. Real-time PCR, western blotting, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent methods were used respectively in the HCAECs or other cells to investigate the molecular mechanism of MDM2 involved in KD. Results MDM2 levels were downregulated, and STAT3 and VEGFA levels were upregulated in clinical blood samples from KD patients with CAL in the acute stage and in the mouse model. In the mouse model and HCAECs, MDM2 co-located with STAT3 . In vitro, the endogenous STAT3 protein level in HCAECs was upregulated after MDM2knockdown. Overexpression of MDM2 increased STAT3 ubiquitination and endogenous STAT3 and VEGFA levels decreased significantly. Additionally, the E3 ubiquitin ligase MDM2 can target its endogenous substrate STAT3 for ubiquitination. Conclusions Decreased MDM2 levels can reduce STAT3 ubiquitination, leading to STAT3 activation and the induction of VEGFA transcription, which is involved in the vascular endothelial inflammatory injury process of KD.

Background: Heart failure has been considered as a potential modifiable risk factor for cognitive impairment and dementia. Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), an indicator of cardiac dysfunction, has also been associated with cognitive aging. However, the effect of LVEF on Alzheimer’s disease (AD) pathology is still less known. Objective: We aimed to investigate the associations of LVEF with cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) biomarkers for AD in cognitively normal elders. Methods: A total of 423 cognitively normal individuals without heart failure were included from the Chinese Alzheimer’s Biomarker and LifestylE (CABLE) study. Impatiens sterilis (Balsaminaceae), discovered in Yunnan, China, is described and illustrated here. It belongs to I. section Racemosae and is related to I. scutisepala. I. sterilis differs from the latter species in the shape of the leaf blades and the lower sepal, the number of lateral sepals, and producing some reduced sterile inflorescences at the end of anthesis. Detailed notes on morphology, key diagnostic characters, distribution, pollen and seed morphology, conservation status and color photographs are provided for the identification of the new species.

Copolymers containing MQ silicone and acrylate were synthesized by controlling the additive amount of compositions. Subsequently, fouling release coatings based on the copolymer with the incorporation of non-reactive phenylmethylsilicone oil were prepared. The surface properties of the coating (CAMQ40) were consistent with that of the polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) elastomer, which ensured good hydrophobicity. Moreover, the seawater volume swelling rate of all prepared coatings was less than 5%, especially for CAMQ40 with only 1.37%. Copolymers enhanced the mechanical properties of the coatings, while the enhancement was proportional to the molar content of structural units from acrylate in the copolymer. More importantly, the adhesion performance between the prepared coatings and substrates indicated that pull-off strength values were more than 1.6 MPa, meaning a high adhesion strength. The phenylmethylsilicone oil leaching observation determined that the oil leaching efficiency increased with the increase in the structural unit’s molar content from MQ silicone in the copolymer, which was mainly owing to the decrease in compatibility between oil and the cured coating, as well as the decrease in mechanical properties. High oil leaching efficiency could make up for the decrease in the biofouling removal rate due to the enhancement of the elastic modulus. For CAMQ40, it had an excellent antifouling performance at 30 days of exposure time with more than 92% of biofouling removal rate, which was confirmed by biofilm adhesion assay.

Studies have shown that nearly half of rural toddlers in China have cognitive delays due to an absence of stimulating parenting practices, such as early childhood reading, during the critical first three years of life. However, few studies have examined the reasons behind these low levels of stimulating parenting, and no studies have sought to identify the factors that limit caregivers from providing effective early childhood reading practices (EECRP). This mixed-methods study investigates the perceptions, prevalence, and correlates of EECRP in rural China, as well as associations with child cognitive development. We use quantitative survey results from 1748 caregiver–child dyads across 100 rural villages/townships in northwestern China and field observation and interview data with 60 caregivers from these same sites. The quantitative results show significantly low rates of EECRP despite positive perceptions of early reading and positive associations between EECRP and cognitive development. The qualitative results suggest that low rates of EECRP in rural China are not due to the inability to access books, financial or time constraints, or the absence of aspirations. Rather, the low rate of book ownership and absence of reading to young children is driven by the insufficient and inaccurate knowledge of EECRP among caregivers, which leads to their delayed, misinformed reading decisions with their young children, ultimately contributing to developmental delays.

A high-frequency equivalent circuit modeling method is proposed, which can model the overvoltage sensor called Current Transformers (CTs). The proposed method uses the formula, which is based on the electromagnetic resonance, to get the high-frequency equivalent circuit. Then the magnitude of overvoltage can be reconstructed according to the last-screen current and high-frequency equivalent circuit. It is important to rebuild overvoltage, which can effectively assess the insulation risk and ensure the safe operation of the power grid. In this paper, the correctness of the proposed high-frequency equivalent circuit is verified by a simulation model, the conclusion is given by numerical results. while the measurement results show that by fitting the parameters of the equivalent circuit, the admittance of the Current Transformers can be obtained.

Mutations in the DNAJB6 gene have been identified as rare causes of myofibrillar myopathies. However, the underlying pathophysiologica mechanisms remain elusive. DNAJB6 has two known isoforms, including the nuclear isoform DNAJB6a and the cytoplasmic isoform DNAJB6b, which was thought to be the pathogenic isoform. Here, we report a novel recessive mutation c.695_699del (p. Val 232 Gly fs*7) in the DNAJB6 gene, associated with an apparently recessively inherited late onset distal myofibrillar myopathy in a Chinese family. Notably, the novel mutation localizes to exon 9 and uniquely encodes DNAJB6a. We further identified that this mutation decreases the mRNA and protein levels of DNAJB6a and results in an age-dependent recessive toxic effect on skeletal muscle in knock-in mice. Moreover, the mutant DNAJB6a showed a dose-dependent anti-aggregation effect on polyglutamine-containing proteins in vitro. Taking together, these findings reveal the pathogenic role of DNAJB6a insufficiency in myofibrillar myopathies and expand upon the molecular spectrum of DNAJB6 mutations. In this study, an acrylate-MQ silicone copolymer (A-MQ) was synthesized and characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, 1H nuclear magnetic resonance, and differential scanning calorimetry. Next, fouling release coatings based on polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) were prepared by incorporating A-MQ. Self-stratified coatings were prepared by controlling the additive amount of A-MQ. Surface property analysis results showed that the appropriate A-MQ additive amount ensured surface smoothness and hydrophobicity in the prepared coatings (P/A-MQ18). Incorporating A-MQ enhanced the mechanical properties of the coatings. Moreover, the shore hardness values of the surface and interface were different, indicating stratification. Observing the fracture microstructures further confirmed the formation of self-stratified structures owing to the enrichment of the surface layer by PDMS during the curing process. More importantly, a high additive amount of A-MQ led to further phase separation with the appearance of “sea–island structures” in the prepared coatings, and this deteriorated the mechanical properties of the coatings (P/A-MQ20). The pull-off test results indicated that the self-stratified coating broke from the upper layer enriched with PDMS, indicating high adhesion strength. The biofilm adhesion assay confirmed the excellent antifouling performance of the self-stratified coating, which also resulted from the enrichment of the upper layer by PDMS. These findings can be extremely useful for developing high-performance fouling release coatings.

Taking account of the effect of the driver's memory, an extended car-following model is proposed in this paper. A control signal including the velocity contrast of considered car and the following car is taken into account in this extended model. Numerical simulations are implemented to prove that the application of the model can suppress the traffic congestion successfully.

Taking account of the road consisting of curved part and straight part, an extended car-following model is proposed in this paper. A control signal including the velocity difference between the considered vehicle and the vehicle in front is taken into account. The control theory method is applied into analysis of the stability condition for the model. Numerical simulations are implemented to prove that the stability of the traffic flow strengthens effectively with an increase of the radius of curved road, and the control signal can suppress the traffic congestion. The results are in good agree with the theoretical analysis.

Marine biofouling can be better governed by using super-hydrophobic and lubricant leaching behavior. It was prepared for a long time super-hydrophobic fouling release coating with the incorporation of phenylmethylsilicone oil as lubricant. With the reasonable control of the mass ratio of mixed nano-particles (hydroxylated multi-walled carbon nanotube and nano-magnetite), prepared reinforced coating has excellent super-hydrophobicity and lubricant leaching efficiency. Comparable studies with reported FR coating and commercial silicone coating, it exhibits excellent anti-biofilm adhesion performance with up to 98 % of biofilm adhesion removal rate. More beneficial, the isolation layer composed of the leached phenylmethylsilicone oil can make a good buffer effect for the reinforced coating surface, alleviating the deformation or damage caused by the friction between sand and the reinforced coating surface, effectively. This work is establishing new investments in environment-friendly fouling release coatings.

A growing body of literature has documented that community-based early childhood development (ECD) interventions can improve child developmental outcomes in vulnerable communities. One critical element of effective community-based programs is consistent program participation. However, little is known about participation in community-based ECD interventions or factors that may affect participation. This paper examines factors linked to program participation within a community-based ECD program serving 819 infants and their caregivers in 50 rural villages in northwestern China. The results find that more than half of families did not regularly attend the ECD program. Both village-level social ties within the program and proximity to the program significantly predict program participation. Increased distance from the program site is linked with decreased individual program participation, while the number of social ties is positively correlated with participation. The average program participation rates among a family's social ties is also positively correlated with individual participation, indicating strong peer effects. Taken together, our findings suggest that attention should be given to promoting social interactions and reducing geographic barriers among households in order to raise participation in community-based ECD programs.

A method is proposed in this paper to determine the frequency-dependent loss of power transformer for very fast transient simulation. The attenuation factors and the corresponding natural frequencies of the transformer at measurable range were extracted using measured power transformer network functions and the vector-fitting method (VFM). The approximate frequency-dependent formula of attenuation factors was established by analyzing the theoretical transformer model. Then, the parameters in the formula were optimized by fitting the real part (attenuation factors) and imagine part (natural angular frequencies) of poles obtained by VFM. The time-domain simulation process can be divided into two steps. First, the lossless transformer transient response, which could be expressed as the sum of the natural frequency components, is obtained by solving the network differential equations. Second, the attenuation factors calculated by the approximate formula are added directly on the corresponding frequency components. By comparing with the measured results, it is shown that the proposed fitting formula for calculating the attenuation factors could improve the simulation accuracy in comparison with the existing methods.

In order to complete the broadband simulation model of power transformer, and establish a systematic and complete model for studying fast transient interaction between transformer and power system, the frequency dependent characteristics of dielectric losses in power transformer were investigated. Several typical insulation structures in power transformers were considered and measuring techniques determined to study the dielectric losses. Frequency dependent dielectric losses in the range of 10-107 Hz were measured by a dielectric spectroscopy analyzer produced by Novocontrol. The characteristics of insulating papers and pressboard measured in the air and after immersing in the mineral oil were compared. Based on the dielectric relaxation theory, the number of dielectric relaxation was determined according to the measured data, and four typical model functions were adopted to fit the data and the consistency of fitting by these functions were compared and physical explanations of fitting parameters were described. Finally, a quantitative description of frequency dependent characteristics of insulation losses was proposed for improving the transformer simulation model.

The analysis of charge circuit and discharge circuit is a key part in the theoretical study of electromagnetic riveting electromagnetic field. Numerical simulation was used to establish the charge circuit model and the discharge circuit model which was an electric circuit-magnetic circuit coupling process by ANSYS. The simulation of charge circuit shows that the development of the charge current over time is an exponential descending change and that of the charge voltage over time is an exponential ascending change. And, the simulation of discharge circuit indicates that the driver is mainly subjected to axial magnetic force, whose distribution is non-uniform along the radial direction of driver, and the maximum value of axial magnetic force locates in about half of the driver radius.

To report a case of leucine-rich glioma inactivated-1 protein antibody (LGI1-Ab) associated limbic encephalitis.A 76-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of cognitive impairment and faciobrachial dystonic seizures for six months. Hyponatremia was also noted in this patient. Antibodies to the LGI1 were positive.(18)F-FDG uptake was measured on the PET-CT scans of this patient.PET-CT showed bilateral putamen hypermetabolism with hypometabolism in other regions. Her symptoms were improved after intravenous immunoglobulin therapy.LGI1-Ab associated encephalitis can manifest as basal ganglia hypermetabolism and faciobrachial dystonic seizures.

The consistency of fitting calculated by different model functions according to the experimental data was compared. The physical significances of fitting parameters were analyzed.
