Rechargeable lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries, featuring high energy density, low cost, and environmental friendliness, have been dubbed as one of the most promising candidates to replace current commercial rechargeable Li‐ion batteries. However, their practical deployment has long been plagued by the infamous "shuttle effect" of soluble Li polysulfides (LiPSs) and the rampant growth of Li dendrites. Therefore, it is important to specifically elucidate the solvation structure in the Li–S system and systematically summarize the feasibility strategies that can simultaneously suppress the shuttle effect and the growth of Li dendrites for practical applications. This review attempts to achieve this goal. In this review, we first introduce the importance of developing Li–S batteries and highlight the key challenges. Then, we revisit the working principles of Li–S batteries and underscore the fundamental understanding of LiPSs. Next, we summarize some representative characterization techniques and theoretical calculations applied to characterize the solvation structure of LiPSs. Afterward, we overview feasible designing strategies that can simultaneously suppress the shuttle effect of soluble LiPSs and the growth of Li dendrites. Finally, we conclude and propose personal insights and perspectives on the future development of Li–S batteries. Based on the surface analysis of carbon fiber, an epoxy resin matrix with good wettability to carbon fibers had been developed and studied, and the influence of winding tension on the interface and mechanical properties of the composite were studied. The surface morphology of carbon fiber and the active functional groups of sizing agent were analyzed. In order to form a good interface combination, the wettability between carbon fibers and epoxy resin matrix was characterized by dynamic contact angle. The winding tension played an important role in the mechanical properties of composites. Therefore, a kind of carbon fiber reinforced composites, Naval Ordnance Laboratory (NOL) rings were fabricated using different winding tensions. Particularly, when the winding tension was 30 N, the interfacial bonding between carbon fibers and resin matrix was the most compact and firm. The tensile strength and interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) of NOL rings reached high values, 2712 MPa and 75 MPa, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The uncontrollable lithium (Li) dendrites growth and complex electrode/electrolyte interface (EEI) problems are hindering the further application of high energy density lithium metal batteries (LMBs) in practice. Herein, a bilayer heterostructure gel polymer electrolyte (BGPE) is designed by directly curing functional boron‐containing monomers on the electrode surface to ensure excellent conductivity while solving the interface problems, achieving durable high voltage resistance and Li dendrites suppression. The unoccupied p‐orbital boron moiety of the 3D crosslinked network in BGPE not only improves the Li+ transference number (0.78), but also enhances the interfacial stability of the Li metal and inhibits the dendrites growth by anchoring PF6− anions and regulating the uniform Li deposition, thus ensuring a long cycle for Li/BGPE/Li cells. In addition, the functional additives tris(trimethylsilyl) phosphite and tris(pentafluorophenyl)borane can preferentially oxidize and decompose to form stable B, F, and Si‐rich EEIs, and effectively regulate the uniform growth of EEI. Thus, the LiNi0.5Co0.2Mn0.3O2/BGPE/Li and LiFePO4/BGPE/Li full cells exhibit stable cycling and excellent rate performance.
