The dual oil circuit centrifugal fuel nozzle is made of martensitic stainless steel, which has complex morphological characteristics. The surface roughness characteristics of the fuel nozzle directly affect the degree of fuel atomization and the spray cone angle. The surface characterization of the fuel nozzle is investigated by the fractal analysis method. A sequence of images of an unheated treatment fuel nozzle and a heated treatment fuel nozzle are captured by the super-depth digital camera. The 3-D point cloud of the fuel nozzle is acquired by the shape from focus technique, and its three-dimensional (3-D) fractal dimensions are calculated and analyzed by the 3-D sandbox counting method. The proposed method can characterize the surface morphology well, including the standard metal processing surface and the fuel nozzle surface, and the experiments show that the 3-D surface fractal dimension is positively correlated with the surface roughness parameter. The 3-D surface fractal dimensions of the unheated treatment fuel nozzle were 2.6281, 2.8697, and 2.7620, compared with the heated treatment fuel nozzles dimensions of 2.3021, 2.5322, and 2.3327. Thus, the 3-D surface fractal dimension value of the unheated treatment is larger than that of the heated treatment and is sensitive to surface defects. This study indicates that the 3-D sandbox counting fractal dimension method is an effective method to evaluate the fuel nozzle surface and other metal processing surfaces.

Saturated highlights on metal surfaces reduce the detection accuracy of fuel nozzles. In this paper, we propose an image inpainting method with a saturated highlight based on the statistics of similar patches used in prior segmentation of the subregion. The sequence image acquisition is based on the shape from focus in the five-axis platform. By our method, the focus measure (FM) operator and the window size are evaluated using the sharpness evaluation curve and calculating time. We observe that the detection accuracy is improved when the highlight area is filled by the highlight-free area within the same segmentation region. There are fewer deviation points in the three-dimensional (3D) point cloud that are extracted from the sequence images. The inlet circle and the outlet circle of the fuel nozzle are both detected by the two-dimensional (2D) Hough Transform (HT) method. Our experiments show that the method yields better results in 3D detection of the key parameters of fuel nozzles with the saturated highlight characteristics.

The widespread digitization of critical industrial systems such as nuclear reactors has led to the development of digital twins and/or the adoption of artificial intelligence techniques for simulating baseline behavior and performing predictive maintenance. Such analytical tools, referred to as anomaly detection techniques, rely on features extracted from data that describe the underlying physical process. While these anomaly detection systems may work well with simulated data, their real-world applications are often hindered by the presence of noise. In some cases, noise may obscure subtle anomalies that may carry information about incipient stages of system faults. These subtle variations may also be the result of malicious intrusion such as so-called false data injection attack, equipment degradation causing sensor drift, or other natural disturbances in the process or the sensors. Consequently, there is a need to extract features that are robust to noise and also denoise data in a manner that aids machine-learning (ML) tools in diagnostics. In this regard, this paper presents a singular value decomposition-based statistical data-driven approach for feature extraction, denoted by randomized window decomposition, to capture the underlying physics of the system. Additionally, the features are used to denoise data to reveal subtle anomalies while also preserving relevant information for ML algorithms. The imperative drives this research endeavour for educators to comprehend the diverse personality types exhibited by students. It is crucial as each personality type encompasses unique strengths and weaknesses that influence cognitive processes, decision-making, literacy, and numeracy skills. The primary objective of this study is to assess the literacy and numeracy skills of students categorized into sanguine, melancholic, choleric, and phlegmatic personality types within the context of Linear Algebra courses. Employing a descriptive research design with a qualitative approach, the subjects of this investigation comprised 47 students enrolled in the Education Mathematics Major at Malikussaleh University: the research employed personality type tests, literacy and numeracy tests, and interviews as the assessment instruments. The data analysis techniques followed the framework proposed by Miles and Huberman that involved stages such as data collection (including students' personality and literacy numeracy test results), data reduction (highlighting key elements), data presentation (displaying test and interview data), and concluding. The findings revealed that (1) 8 individuals (17.02%) exhibited a choleric personality type, eight individuals (17.02%) demonstrated a melancholic personality type, 16 individuals (34.05%) displayed a phlegmatic personality type, and 15 individuals (31.91%) manifested a sanguine personality type; (2) students' literacy and numeracy skills averaged 78.6%, falling into the high category; (3) The phlegmatic personality type exhibited the lowest literacy and numeracy ability, while the sanguine personality type demonstrated the highest literacy and numeracy ability. Consequently, this underscores the importance of students leveraging their strengths and addressing the weaknesses associated with their respective personality types to refine their literacy and numeracy skills.

This research activity was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in the Integral Calculus course and the unavailability of the GeoGebra-assisted Integral Calculus module in the Mathematics Education study program, Malikussaleh University. The purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of the GeoGebra-assisted Integral Calculus module. The type of research is development research with the Plomp development model which includes three stages of preliminary research, prototyping phase, and assessment phase. The test subjects were students of the Mathematics Education Study Program, Malikussaleh University. The instruments of this research are observation sheets of learning activities, student response questionnaires, observer response questionnaires to modules and test instruments. Based on the results of the study, it is known that the GeoGebra-assisted Integral Calculus module meets the effective criteria because the results of the learning activity observation sheets are in the very good category, student and observer responses to the module are in very good criteria and student test results have increased.

El hecho de que una persona tenga un cargo público, ya sea policía o militar etc., no tiene la potestad, ni mucho menos la facultad de obrar en contravención a la ley, es decir no respetando los protocolos y excediéndose en el uso de la fuerza que el estado les confiere; si bien es cierto el abuso autoridad, prescrito en el Código penal, supone una orientación de política criminal destinada a cerrar espacios de impunidad cuando la conducta atribuida al funcionario público, no se ajusta a los alcances normativos. Es por ello, que nace de esa falencia analizar el abuso de autoridad desde la perspectiva de la Criminología Crítica, donde está refuta la ineficiencia del Estado frente a las medidas y la regulación del abuso de autoridad, siendo el objetivo principal del trabajo identificar de qué manera se causa el abuso de autoridad y dentro de los objetivos específicos, describir y explicar el mal uso de la fuerza por parte de los agentes ejecutivos dentro del estado de emergencia por el (Covid-19) en el Perú, finalmente se demuestra que hay un uso desmedido de la fuerza por parte de los agentes del orden e ineficiencia de los órganos estatales frente a este conflicto.

Given the high prevalence of atherothrombotic disease and increasing attention to functional foods, we tested the hypothesis that a combination supplement (PS) containing Phellinus baumii (PB) and Salvia miltiorrhiza Bunge (SM) may improve the atherothrombotic profile in rats. The PS (Experiment 1) or PB/SM (Experiment 2) supplement was administered orally once daily for 7 days prior to inducing platelet activation at the last day. Orally administered PS showed an additive and positive effect on nitric oxide (NO) availability, adhesion molecule/pro-inflammatory cytokine release, and thrombosis compared to controls. This effect was attributed more to PB than to SM for cyclooxygenase (COX)-1 and to SM for COX-2. In vitro data revealed that tanshinone IIA derived from SM remarkably suppressed COX-2, and protocatechuic acid derived from PB caused a small increase in NO production. The data suggest the potential use of PS to ameliorate endothelial and vascular dysfunction induced by unintended platelet activation.

Red ginseng has been widely used in health-promoting supplements in Asia and is becoming increasingly popular in Western countries. However, its therapeutic mechanisms against most diseases have not been clearly elucidated. The aim of the present study was to provide the biological mechanisms of red ginseng against various metabolic diseases. We used a systems biological approach to comprehensively identify the component-target and target-pathway networks in order to explore the mechanisms underlying the therapeutic potential of red ginseng against metabolic diseases. Of the 23 components of red ginseng with target, 5 components were linked with 37 target molecules. Systematic analysis of the constructed networks revealed that these 37 targets were mainly involved in 9 signaling pathways relating to immune cell differentiation and vascular health. These results successfully explained the mechanisms underlying the efficiency of red ginseng for metabolic diseases, such as menopausal symptoms in women, blood circulation, diabetes mellitus, and hyperlipidemia.

This study compared the ability of nine culinary plant extracts containing a wide array of phytochemicals to inhibit fructose uptake and then explored the involvement of intestinal fructose transporters and phytochemicals for selected samples. The chemical signature was characterized by high performance liquid chromatography with mass spectrometry. Inhibition of [14C]-fructose uptake was tested by using human intestinal Caco-2 cells. Then, the relative contribution of the two apical-facing intestinal fructose transporters, GLUT2 and GLUT5, and the signature components for fructose uptake inhibition was confirmed in naive, phloretin-treated and forskolin-treated Caco-2 cells. HPLC/MS analysis of the chemical signature revealed that guava leaf contained quercetin and catechin, and turmeric contained curcumin, bisdemethoxycurcumin and dimethoxycurcumin. Similar inhibition of fructose uptake (by ~50%) was observed with guava leaf and turmeric in Caco-2 cells, but with a higher contribution of GLUT2 for turmeric and that of GLUT5 for guava leaf. The data suggested that, in turmeric, demethoxycurcumin specifically contributed to GLUT2-mediated fructose uptake inhibition, and curcumin did the same to GLUT5-mediated fructose uptake inhibition, but GLUT2 inhibition was more potent. By contrast, in guava leaf, catechin specifically contributed to GLUT5-mediated fructose uptake inhibition, and quercetin affected both GLUT5- and GLUT2-mediated fructose uptake inhibition, resulting in the higher contribution of GLUT5. These results suggest that demethoxycurcumin is an important contributor to GLUT2-mediated fructose uptake inhibition for turmeric extract, and catechin is the same to GLUT5-mediated fructose uptake inhibition for guava leaf extract. Quercetin, curcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin contributed to both GLUT5- and GLUT2-mediated fructose uptake inhibition, but the contribution to GLUT5 inhibition was higher than the contribution to GLUT2 inhibition.

Elephantopus scaber Linn. has been reported to have cytotoxic effects on breast cancer cells and the potential to be developed as anticancer agent. This study aims was to determine the cytotoxic activity and apoptosis induction effect of petroleum ether fractions of ethanolic extract of (Elephantopus scaber Linn) leaves against cervical cancer cells (HeLa). Petroleum ether fraction was obtained by dissolving eyhanolic extract in petroleum ether, and the soluble fraction was as petroleum ether fraction. The method used for cytotoxic activity test was MTT test. The concentration series used were 2000; 1500; 1000; 800; 400; 200; 100; 50; 25; 12.5; 6.25 and 3.125 mg/ml. The IC50 used as cytotoxic parameters. The apoptotic observations was conducted using acridine orange and ethidium bromide. The study showed the IC50 of petroleum ether fraction of (Elephantopus scaber Linn) ethanolic extract was 185 ug/ml. The study also showed the potency to stimulate apoptosis in HeLa cells.
