Background: Neonatal sepsis is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, especially when an infant is delivered preterm. Objectives: The aim of the current work was to evaluate the clinical presentation, etiology, antibiotics use, and mortality in neonatal sepsis cases at King Fahad Medical City. Duration of antibiotics and length of hospital stay were also included. Patients and Methods: This cross sectional retrospective descriptive, single-institute study included a total of 225 neonates suspected to have neonatal sepsis, attending at tertiary hospital, Department of General Pediatric, King Fahad Medical City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This study was conducted between January 2014 to July 2017. Subjects were hospitalized through Emergency Department and included all neonates underage of 28 days. Results: Among the included 225 neonates, 134 (59.6%) were male and 91 (40.4%) were female. Most of them Term neonates 203 (90.2%). Fever found to be the most common symptoms 184 patients (81.8%) followed by decrease feeding and activity in 124 (55%) and 101 (44.9%) respectively. Respiratory symptoms like cough, tachypnea, runny nose and cyanosis found in 56 (25%). Empirical antibiotics frequently used were amipicillin 209 (92%) and cefotaxime 185 (82%) with median duration of 4days (range 1-47 days). Blood cultures came positive in 8 patients (3.6%). Coagulase negative staphylococci came in 3 (30%) patients and E.coli in 3 (30%) patients as well. Conclusion: It could be concluded that large number of neonates admitted as suspected neonatal sepsis in our hospital resolved their symptoms without find identifiable etiology. In those who had identifiable etiology urinary tract infections (UTI) and viral infections were the common etiology. However, blood stream sepsis and meningitis were quite rare.

Background: Due to the lack of data and studies concerning about measurement of population awareness about cubital tunnel syndrome in almjmaah city, this study aims at determining the level of population awareness among almjmaah adult population in Saudi Arabia and measure the prevalence of CuTS in Almjmaah city. Cubital Tunnel Syndrome is a disease that involves pressure or stretching of the ulnar nerve, which can cause numbness or tingling in the ring and small fingers, pain in the forearm, and/or weakness in the hand. The ulnar nerve runs in a groove on the inner side of the elbow. Aims: To study the awareness of cubital tunnel syndrome (CuTS) among adult population in Almjmaah city, Saudi Arabia, and to estimate the overall prevalence of CuTS. In addition to determine its effect on social life. Methods: 384 respondents of Almajmaah were participated (45.4% are male and 54.6% female, nearly half are youth aged range between (18-39)). The intervention includes measurement of understanding the clinical features could happen, causes, prevention and management of CuTS. A standardized questionnaire was used to cover 11 different aspects concerning CuTS. SPSS package was used to analyze the data collected from the sample. Results: The present study has a huge sample size survey gained a rich information through a structured questionnaire by researchers, follow-up duration of mean of year (2018- 2019). 16 of participants (4.1%) have cubital Tunnel Syndrome. One third of them are thought that the main symptom is Pain in elbow. On the other hand, one quarter think that Tingling and numbness in ring and little fingers is the main manifestation. The most causes that population think that’s it leads to the Cubital tunnel syndrome are Trauma, repeated hand physical activities like lifting heavy weights, and wrist fracture or dislocation respectively. Conclusion: The study shows that the awareness of community was sufficient among adult population and shows that the prevalence of cubital Tunnel Syndrome (CuTS) is 4.1% it is nearly below the international population prevalence. Also, the study shows that population think that the CuTS can affect the quality of life.

Background:Immunization has shown major preventive aspects of infectious diseases, disability and death. Objectives: Assessing the knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of Saudi parents in Hail City regarding the immunization programs for children, Saudi Arabia (KSA), 2018. Methods: It is a cross sectional survey study that was carried out upon 420 parents that were randomly selected as the team focused on collection from public areas to get the appropriate knowledge level from the community for 3 months from May to the end of July, 2018. Parents and were asked to complete a questionnaire. The questionnaire contained 4 different parts about the demographics, knowledge, attitude and practice of parents toward immunization. Results: The included parents have shown a high level of awareness about vaccination regarding the preventive measures and importance of vaccination which resulted in positive attitudes and practice pattern among most of them. The overall KAP was good among most of parents. The higher KAP level wasn’t significantly associated with gender, educational degree and number of children. Conclusion: Most of Saudi parents in Hail City had good KAP toward immunization which wasn’t associated with gender and educational degrees. However, educational programs are still in need to increase the parents’ knowledge and practice especially among illiterate and less educated parents living in rural areas.
