This study was performed to survey the relationship between water physicochemical factors and determination the effective parameters on Litopenaeus vannaemi survival in three ponds of three different farms with same stocking (250000 pl) and same storage time during 109 days (Days of culture), from June to September, in shrimp culture ponds of Abadan-Choebdeh. The results showed that the highest correlation between salinity and temperature, as well as salinity and pH is established. Nitrate and phosphate values ​​recorded during the culture period were outside of the standard range. The results of correlation between chemical feature and survival showed in all of three farms, the nitrate and ammonia had the maximum effect on shrimp survival which this relationship was expressed inverse. According to the results, the mean of primary weight, final weight and weight gain was observed in T3 more than T1 and T2 , and survival rate in T3 and T2 was more than T1 at the end of the culture period. It seems that the level of protein in diets play an important role in the nitrate and ammonia scale and finally in survival.

Background and Objectives: 25-50 percent of all patients who are visited by GPs, have complains that are not medically explained. Their management is a challenge for GPs. In homeopathy (a method of alternative medicine) these symptoms are important for selection of remedies and in an effort to treat them. This study aimed at describing this existing situation by investigating the frequency of such complaints in the patients under study.Methods: This study is a cross-sectional study conducted in Isfahan in 2008 on 240 Patients who were visited in some of the clinics affiliated to Isfahan university of medical sciences. The patients were selected by convenient method. Data were gathered by the questionnaire and analyzed via SPSS 13.5 software using Chi-Square test.Results: Out of 240 patients, 150 were women (%65.4) and 90 were men(34.6%). 75.4 percent were 20-40 years old. 1.7 percent had no symptoms, 31.3 had 1-5 symptoms and 40.8 percent had 6-10 symptoms. The females had more symptoms than males. Symptoms of mind, GI, sleep and miscellaneous ones were 81.3, 80.4, 72.1 and 87.1 percent, respectively. The most frequent symptoms in each group were intrusive thought, salivation in sleep, waking frequently and dyspnea wearing tight collared clothes. Only 10.97 percent of patient referred to the physicians for these symptoms.Conclusion: The symptoms registered in homeopathy references have notable prevalence in the society but most of people with such symptoms will not go to a doctor for examination and treatment Therefore, it is very important to carry out more research regarding these symptoms. General population should receive more information and physicians, in turn, should use appropriate methods of therapy for treating these patients.

We surveyed presence of white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) in farmed white leg shrimp in Bushehr province with assumed a prevalence of 2% of virus in target population. Hence, 468 samples were collected in two separate phases from May to October 2006. In the first phase, 200 samples (each sample was 150 pieces of post larvae with average age 7 days) were taken from 3 active hatcheries and in the second phase, 268 samples from 418 ponds in 5 sites were collected. Samples were tested by "Nested PCR" for detection of WSSV with 1Q2000 commercial kits. Results were negative and with respect to sampling method and sensitivity and specifity of Nested PCR we concluded that cultured shrimps were free of WSSV in 2006 in Bushehr province......

Background and Objective: Methotrexate (MTX) is a chemotherapy drug that has destructive effects on body tissues, including the male reproductive system. Since coenzyme Q10 is an antioxidant that can reduce its destructive effects to some extent, this study was conducted to investigate the effects of the simultaneous use of methotrexate and coenzyme Q10 on testis tissue structure and sperm parameters in male mice. Methods: In this experimental study, 24 male NMRI mice were divided into four groups of six: the control group received 0.2 ml of distilled water intraperitoneally, the MTX group received 20 mg/kg methotrexate once a week intraperitoneally, the CoEnQ10 group received coenzyme Q10 orally at a dose of 200 mg/kg three times a week, and the MTX+CoEnQ10 group, in addition to receiving methotrexate 20 mg/kg intraperitoneally once a week, also received coenzyme Q10 orally at a dose of 200 mg/kg three times a week. All groups were treated for five weeks. After sacrificing the animals, epididymal cauda and testis tissue were sampled and analyzed respectively in order to check sperm parameters and histomorphometry changes and the process of spermatogenesis. Findings: After treatment with MTX, viability, motility, tubule differentiation index, spermatic index, sperm repopulation index, mean seminiferous tubules diameter, seminiferous tubules lumen diameter, and germinal epithelium height decreased significantly compared to the control group (p<0.05). Furthermore, the treatment with MTX significantly led to DNA damage, an increase in the mean diameter of the testicular capsule and the percentage of tubular degeneration, and an increase in the number of abnormal sperms compared to the control group (p<0.05). Simultaneous use of coenzyme Q10 with MTX resulted in significant improvement of the mentioned parameters. Conclusion: The results of the present study showed that MTX has a negative effect on the metabolic activity of sperm, integrity of membrane and DNA, causing a decrease in sperm parameters and changes in testicular tissue and the process of spermatogenesis. This study aimed to conduct a gap analysis of the factors affecting the smart university competition through the importance-performance map analysis of top technical universities in Tehran. This is an applied non-experimental cross-sectional survey, which is also classified as the mixed methods research based on the data type. In the qualitative section, the statistical population included the university professors selected through purposive sampling. The theoretical saturation was achieved with 16 participants. In the quantitative section, the statistical population included the faculty members and postgraduates of top technical universities in Tehran. The Cochran formula was employed to estimate a sample size of 350 participants who were selected through simple random sampling. The semi-structured interviews were used for data collection in the qualitative section, whereas a questionnaire was used for this purpose in the quantitative section. According to the research findings, the inclusive categories were identified as "knowledge about the status of rivals", "strategic knowledge", "knowledge about the market status", "respect for clients", "support from managers", "smart activity", "university infrastructure", and "involvement of staff and faculty members". Since the results show that all research indices are important, none of the categories are considered indifferent or wasteful, and the other factors were considered weak. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Wilm’s tumor is the most frequent primary renal neoplasma in pediatric age group. Classically it is composed of three histologic parts: Blastemal, Epithelial and stromal. Different factors are implicated as prognostic determinants. Nowadays special attention is paid to proliferation markers for determining the biologic behavior of tumors. In this study we tried to ascertain the proliferative index of 22 cases of Wilm’s tumor in our center who have had rather good follow up (at least two years). Materials and Methods: After reviewing the H and E slides, we stained sections with PCNA and ki67 and scanned them by image cytomertry. Then the proliferative indices for each histological part was determined. Results: We resuted that proliferative indices of blastemal and epithelial parts have significant (P< 0.0002) difference (increment) from that of stromal part. Also the patients were divided into those with recurrence (within two ys of primary surgery) and recurrence. The profileration indices of PCNA for those recurring tumors was significantly higher (PCNA= 22.3%) (P= 0.0015). Conclusion: Finally we concluded that using proliferative markers in Wilm’s tumor is useful as an effective prognostic factor.

The objective of this work is to provide experimental validation of the graph theory approach for predicting the thermal history of additively manufactured parts. The graph theory approach for thermal modeling in additive manufacturing (AM) was recently published in these transactions. In the present paper, the graph theory approach is validated with in situ infrared thermography data in the context of the laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) additive manufacturing process. We realize the foregoing objective through the following four tasks. First, two kinds of test shapes, namely, a cylinder and cone, are made in two separate builds on a production-type LPBF machine (Renishaw AM250); the material used for these tests is stainless steel (SAE 316L). The intent of both builds is to influence the thermal history of the part by controlling the cooling time between the melting of successive layers, called the interlayer cooling time (ILCT). Second, layer-wise thermal images of the top surface of the part are acquired using an in situ a priori calibrated infrared camera. Third, the thermal imaging data obtained during the two builds is used to validate the graph theory-predicted surface temperature trends. Fourth, the surface temperature trends predicted using graph theory are compared with results from finite element (FE) analysis. The results substantiate the computational advantages of the graph theory approach over finite element analysis. As an example, for the cylinder-shaped test part, the graph theory approach predicts the surface temperature trends to within 10% mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) and approximately 16 K root mean squared error (RMSE) relative to the surface temperature trends measured by the thermal camera. Furthermore, the graph theory-based temperature predictions are made in less than 65 min, which is substantially faster than the actual build time of 171 min.
