Technology addiction has been the focus of many recent studies in the information systems (IS) literature. This paper examines how user perceptions and usage intentions toward social networking sites (SNS) are distorted by their level of addiction to the technology. To this end, a research model that incorporates the technology addiction construct and two system-referenced perceptions (trust and social influence) has been constructed and tested to explain the effects of addiction on augmenting one’s perceptions of SNS. Data were obtained from an online survey of 202 SNS users in Saudi Arabia. A Structural equation modelling technique was used to evaluate the proposed model. The findings confirmed that users’ level of SNS addiction influence their reasoned-based usage intentions by distorting users’ perceptions toward the technology. Theoretical and practical implications of the findings are discussed.

The existing underwater Internet of Things (UIoT) is based on IP architecture, which is not conducive to the efficient storage and distribution of huge amounts of content generated in underwater. Actively pushing all content to users causes much unnecessary resource consumption in the UIoT. The information centric networking (ICN) architecture opens new horizons up for these challenges. However, the slowness of underwater propagation speed makes traditional ICN not suitable for UIoT, especially considering about delay time. In this paper, we propose an information-centric wireless sensor networking scheme with water-depth-aware content caching (ICWSN-WDA) to solve the above challenges. First, we design a naming scheme and a hybrid communication mode suitable for ICWSN-WDA. The communication mode in underwater we design is divided into push and pull traffic, which balances energy consumption and delay time. Secondly, we define a push level to decide which water depth the content actively pushes to, finding a suitable junction point of two modes. Thirdly, as the water depth is deeper, it becomes more difficult to replace sensor battery. To save energy consumption of deep-water sensors, water-depth-aware caching mechanism is proposed based on water depth, popularity and senor energy. Our extensive evaluation confirms the effectiveness of our proposed scheme, and it balances energy consumption constraints and latency.

Although modern Maritime Transportation Systems (MTS) have been extensively benefited from Internet of Things (IoT) technology, but still the risks and challenges in safety and reliability have increased substantially. The involvement of different maritime parties in the marine transportation flow scheduling and management further escalates these challenges. Thus, we need an IoT-based collaborative processing system that unifies the modular structure and integrates multiple modules involved in MTS. Moreover, the need for a shared and controlled access mechanism that cannot be manipulated or tampered by unauthorized parties is also essential requirement in MTS. Blockchain, as an emerging technology, has become a key tool in data security protection because of its non-tampering and non-forgery characteristics. Keeping in view of this aspect, in this paper, an IoT-based collaborative processing system based on blockchain is proposed for marine transportation flow scheduling and management. In addition, we propose a novel consensus mechanism based on Verifiable Random Function (VRF) and reputation voting to reduce the communication cost in blockchain consensus communication process. The proposed scheme has been validated in a simulated environment and the results illustrate that the scheme has obvious effect in resisting replay attack and camouflage attack. Furthermore, the optimized consensus mechanism improves the security by 8% and the transaction processing speed by 6% on the premise that the communication cost is basically unchanged.

One of the most promising application areas of the industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs). VANETs are largely used by intelligent transportation systems to provide smart and safe road transport. To reduce the network burden, software-defined networks (SDNs) act as a remote controller. Motivated by the need for greener IIoT solutions, this article proposes an energy-efficient end-to-end security solution for software-defined vehicular networks (SDVNs). Besides, SDN's flexible network management, network performance, and energy-efficient end-to-end security scheme plays a significant role in providing green IIoT services. Thus, the proposed SDVN provides lightweight end-to-end security. The end-to-end security objective is handled in two levels: 1) in roadside unit (RSU)-based group authentication scheme, each vehicle in the RSU range receives a group ID–key pair for secure communication; and 2) in private collaborative intrusion detection system (p-CIDS), the SDVN detects the potential intrusions inside the VANET architecture using collaborative learning that guarantees privacy through a fusion of differential privacy and homomorphic encryption schemes. The SDVN is simulated in NS2 and MATLAB, and results show increased energy efficiency with lower communication and storage overhead than existing frameworks. In addition, the p-CIDS detects the intruder with an accuracy of 96.81% in the SDVN.

The heterogeneous nature of the Internet of Things (IoT) requires sophisticated and distributed security schemes for providing reliable communication. However, providing a unanimous security measure is a tedious task for heterogeneous devices is a complex task. This function requires multiple communication and information sharing constraints to be adapted by connected users. In this article, a distributed multi-party security computation framework for ensuring the security level of scalable information sharing and communications in heterogeneous IoT. This computation framework uses synchronized security measures through recurrent verification on different communicating ends of the devices. In this verification process, backpropagation learning verifies end-to-end security and the communication session between the connected devices. MPC is generally subject to a significant overhead for correspondence but has the benefit of being confidential even if pursued until a substantial percentage of the participants are aggressive and coordinated. Secret MPC exchanging will protect the specifications of both models and the training/inference information. The multi-party verification relies on both device and service providers for unanimously synchronizing the different security computations in a less complex manner. This framework is reliable in mitigating man-in-middle and information loss adversaries. The performance of the proposed method is verified using the metrics detection ratio, response rate, delay, and overhead.

In Surveillance Wireless Sensor Networks (SWSN), the nodes are distributed at the borders to detect unauthorized intrusions. In such applications, as the nodes are usually equipped with limited batteries and the network area is harsh to be accessible for humans, energy efficiency is considered as one of the main issues in designing the sensor networks. In the last years, Wireless Rechargeable Sensor Networks (WRSN) provides valuable insights into solving the energy constraint problem in WSNs. In a WRSN, Wireless Mobile Chargers (WMC) are responsible to recharge the batteries of the sensor nodes in order to enhance the operation time of the network. In most of the previous WRSN based schemes, the WMCs recharge the nodes singly and directly, which results in increasing the travel time of WMC and waiting time of sensor nodes. In addition, despite of using WMC, the permanent network lifetime has not been addressed in most of the previous schemes. Therefore, to overcome the limitations of existing literature, this research work focuses on the design and development of Broker-based Nodes Recharging Scheme (BNRS) which significantly contributes to improved lifetime and performance of SWSN. In the proposed scheme, power banks are employed as brokers between sensor nodes and WMC. The main duty of a power bank is to receive energy from WMC and transfer to the sensor nodes. Based on the simulation experiments the proposed BNRS achieves the permanent network operation which results in increasing security in the border of countries.

Satellite communication system is expected to play a vital role for realizing various remote Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications in sixth-generation vision. Due to unique characteristics of satellite environment, one of the main challenges in this system is to accommodate massive random access (RA) requests of IoT devices while minimizing their energy consumptions. In this article, we focus on the reliable design and detection of RA preamble to effectively enhance the access efficiency in high-dynamic low-earth-orbit (LEO) scenarios. To avoid additional signaling overhead and detection process, a long preamble sequence is constructed by concatenating the conjugated and circularly shifted replicas of a single root Zadoff–Chu (ZC) sequence in RA procedure. Moreover, we propose a novel impulse-like timing metric based on length-alterable differential cross-correlation (LDCC), that is immune to carrier frequency offset (CFO) and capable of mitigating the impact of noise on timing estimation. Statistical analysis of the proposed metric reveals that increasing correlation length can obviously promote the output signal-to-noise power ratio, and the first-path detection threshold is independent of noise statistics. Simulation results in different LEO scenarios validate the robustness of the proposed method to severe channel distortion, and show that our method can achieve significant performance enhancement in terms of timing estimation accuracy, success probability of first access, and mean normalized access energy, compared with the existing RA methods.

The emergency situation of COVID-19 is a very important problem for emergency decision support systems. Control of the spread of COVID-19 in emergency situations across the world is a challenge and therefore the aim of this study is to propose a q-linear Diophantine fuzzy decision-making model for the control and diagnose COVID19. Basically, the paper includes three main parts for the achievement of appropriate and accurate measures to address the situation of emergency decision-making. First, we propose a novel generalization of Pythagorean fuzzy set, q-rung orthopair fuzzy set and linear Diophantine fuzzy set, called q-linear Diophantine fuzzy set (q-LDFS) and also discussed their important properties. In addition, aggregation operators play an effective role in aggregating uncertainty in decision-making problems. Therefore, algebraic norms based on certain operating laws for q-LDFSs are established. In the second part of the paper, we propose series of averaging and geometric aggregation operators based on defined operating laws under q-LDFS. The final part of the paper consists of two ranking algorithms based on proposed aggregation operators to address the emergency situation of COVID-19 under q-linear Diophantine fuzzy information. In addition, the numerical case study of the novel carnivorous (COVID-19) situation is provided as an application for emergency decision-making based on the proposed algorithms. Results explore the effectiveness of our proposed methodologies and provide accurate emergency measures to address the global uncertainty of COVID-19.

Energy constraint is one of the main design issues of wireless sensor networks. Over the past few years, the concept of the wireless mobile charger (WMC) has been proposed in order to improve the energy efficiency of the networks. In such schemes, optimizing the moving trajectory and charging time of WMC are considered as two main problems. Several schemes attempt to optimize the moving trajectory of WMC without considering the balanced energy depletion time of nodes, which leads to degrading the energy efficiency and network lifetime. Thus, a route optimization of WMC algorithm is proposed to determine the optimal trajectory of WMC to move along sensor nodes in such a way that the balanced energy depletion time of the nodes is achieved. Moreover, in most of the existing schemes, WMCs charge the nodes as long as their batteries are fully charged. However, not considering the remaining lifetime of the other nodes leads to premature network death and decreases the network performance. Therefore, a charge time optimization of WMC algorithm is proposed to overcome the mentioned problem. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme remarkably enhance the network performance in terms of different evaluation metrics.

Interval-valued picture fuzzy linguistic variable concept is introduced in this article, in which we consider principal component and proposed a generalized interval-valued picture fuzzy linguistic induced hybrid aggregation (GIVPLIHA) operator with entropic order-inducing variable and TOPSIS method. Then, we discussed some basic properties of the GIVPLIHA operator. We also discussed an algorithm for linguistic group decision-making based on GIVPLIHA operator and TOPSIS technique. To prove the validity and applicability of the developed method, finally, we solved a decision-making problem of a company to make a policy for the selection of the best investment strategy. We conclude from the comparison and sensitive analysis that the proposed decision-making method is more effective and reliable than other existing models.

Image contrast enhancement is a prerequisite and plays a very important role in many image processing field like medical imaging, face recognition, computer-vision, and satellite imaging. In this paper we proposed reversible data hiding based Limited Dynamic Weighted Histogram Equalization techniques for Abnormal Tumor regions which improve the contrast, transmit the hidden secret information, preserve its brightness intensity and original appearance of the image. We have implemented Otsu’s method to segment the input image into two sub-histogram regions of interest (ROI) and non-region of interest; furthermore, the sub-histograms ROI region equalized independently without of over-enhancement and any loss of hidden and diagnostic data. Our proposed method is more efficient to precisely preserve the brightness of the image and extract the secret information with contrast image reversibly; besides, different classifiers are used to classify the brain cancer to check the performance of our proposed method.

Decision making in case of medical diagnosis is a complicated process. A large number of overlapping structures and cases, and distractions, tiredness, and limitations with the human visual system can lead to inappropriate diagnosis. Machine learning (ML) methods have been employed to assist clinicians in overcoming these limitations and in making informed and correct decisions in disease diagnosis. Many academic papers involving the use of machine learning for disease diagnosis have been increasingly getting published. Hence, to determine the use of ML to improve the diagnosis in varied medical disciplines, a systematic review is conducted in this study. To carry out the review, six different databases are selected. Inclusion and exclusion criteria are employed to limit the research. Further, the eligible articles are classified depending on publication year, authors, type of articles, research objective, inputs and outputs, problem and research gaps, and findings and results. Then the selected articles are analyzed to show the impact of ML methods in improving the disease diagnosis. The findings of this study show the most used ML methods and the most common diseases that are focused on by researchers. It also shows the increase in use of machine learning for disease diagnosis over the years. These results will help in focusing on those areas which are neglected and also to determine various ways in which ML methods could be employed to achieve desirable results.

The fuzzy aggregation information plays an important role in the group decision support system under the interval-valued hesitant fuzzy information and interval-valued probabilistic hesitant fuzzy information. Therefore, in this paper, we develop a new approach of the interval-valued hesitant fuzzy Frank aggregation (IVHFFA) and interval-valued probabilistic hesitant fuzzy aggregation (IVPHFFA) operators. First, we define some operational laws of IVHEs and IVPHFEs by using Frank t-norm and t-conorm. Furthermore, we develop a series of IVHFFA and IVPHFFA operators based on these operational laws under the IVHF and IVPHF information. Also, discuss some fundamental properties and relations of the proposed aggregation operators for IVHF and IVPHF information. In order to implement the proposed aggregation operators of IVHF and IVPHF information in group decision-making problem, we construct general algorithms for multi-attribute group decision-making problem based on the proposed IVHFFA and IVPHFFA. Finally, from the comparative and sensitivity analysis, the proposed fuzzy decision-making model is more effective and reliable as compared with existing method.

The Drone Forensics (DRFs) field is a branch of digital forensics, which involves the identification, capture, preservation, reconstruction, analysis, and documentation of drone incidents. Several models have been proposed in the literature for the DRF field, which generally discusses DRF from a reactive forensic perspective; however, the proactive forensic perspective is missing. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel forensic readiness framework called Drone Forensics Readiness Framework (DRFRF) using the design science method. It consists of two stages: (i) proactive forensic stage and (ii) reactive forensic stage. It considers centralized logging of all events of all the applicants within the drone device in preparation for an examination. It will speed up gathering data when an investigation is needed, permitting the forensic investigators to handle the examination and analysis directly. Additionally, digital forensics analysts can increase the possible use of digital evidence while decreasing the charge of performing forensic readiness. Thus, both the time and cost required to perform forensic readiness could be saved. The completeness, logicalness, and usefulness of DRFRF were compared to those of other models already existing in the DRF domain. The results showed the novelty and efficiency of DRFRF and its applicability to the situations before and after drone incidents.

It is difficult for wireless local area networks (WLANs), IEEE 802.11ax high-efficiency WLAN (HEW), to join next-generation innovations such as 5th generation (5G) and Internet of Things (IoT) because they still have their conventional channel access mechanism as their essential medium access control (MAC) protocol. The MAC protocol uses a traditional binary exponential backoff (BEB) algorithm to access channel resources that depend on the noncognitive increment of contention parameters for collision avoidance. In BEB, the collision issue increases with the increase in connected devices in the network due to a fixed contention window size. The larger the size of the network, the larger the collision in the network. To avoid such a circumstance, in this paper, we propose a sliding group window (sGW) mechanism dependent on collision-point assessment in order to improve the performance of MAC protocol for HEW. The proposed algorithm additionally presents a rebacking off for collision avoidance (ReBOCA) system for sGW, which combines the uniform dispersion of the contention parameters. This variation of an ordinary backoff algorithm permits the reasonable sliding of the user groups in the case of collision. The algorithm explicitly accounts for the peculiarities of dense environments and backward compatibility. Key aspects of the proposed solution include collision-point estimation, rebacking off for collision distribution convergence for fair treatment, and adaptive sliding of group windows to mitigate contention unfairness. We further formulated a closed-form Markov chain model for the performance analysis of our proposed sGW with ReBOCA scheme. Theoretical and practical results prove that our proposed scheme achieved maximal efficiency, even under dense environments. An increase in throughput with a lower packet collision probability was achieved with the proposed mechanism, and the efficiency increased as the number of contending stations increased than compared to traditional BEB performance. Our proposed ReBOCA mechanism enhanced network throughput by 38.18% than compared to the conventional BEB mechanism.

Energy harvesting (EH) is a promising and critical technology to mitigate the dilemma between the limited battery capacity and the increasing energy consumption in the Internet of everything. However, the current EH system suffers from energy-information cross threats, facing the overlapping vulnerability of energy deprivation and private information leakage. Although some existing works touch on the security of energy and information in EH, they treat these two issues independently, without collaborative and intelligent protection cross the energy side and information side. To address the above challenge, this paper proposes a joint protection framework of energy security and information privacy for EH with an incentive federated learning approach. First, we design a federated learning-based malicious energy user detection method according to energy status and behaviors to provide energy security protection. Secondly, a differential privacy-empowered information preservation scheme is devised, where sensitive information is perturbed and protected by the customized demand-based noise. Thirdly, a non-cooperative game-enabled incentive mechanism is established to encourage EH nodes to participate in the joint energy-information protection system. The proposed incentive mechanism derives the optimal energy-information security strategy for EH nodes and achieve a tradeoff between the protection of energy security and information privacy. Evaluation results have verified the effectiveness of our proposed joint protection mechanism.

In the last years, due to the limited resources of consumer products, energy-saving is known as one of the design challenges of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). Clustering is a practical technique to enhance the performance of the network including energy efficiency, network scalability, and network easier management. In cluster-based networks, the size of clusters has a key role in the network power consumption. Non-optimized clustering results in increasing the power consumption of the whole network. The small size clusters leads to appear coverage hole in the network, as well as this property is the opposite of being the scalability of the network. In addition, in non-optimized clusters, reducing the energy consumption of the nodes as the key objective of clustering, cannot be pursued, thus the clustering will result contrary. Consequently, the energy consumption reduction after clustering can be guaranteed by considering the power consumption of nodes before clustering in cluster size optimization. Hence, in this paper, an Energy-efficient and Coverage-guaranteed Unequal-sized Clustering (ECUC) scheme is proposed which considers both energy and coverage issues simultaneously in optimizing the cluster size. Based on the simulation results, the proposed scheme remarkably enhances the network lifetime by reducing the total dissipated energy while guarantying the coverage issue.

After the September 11 attacks, security and surveillance measures have changed across the globe. Now, surveillance cameras are installed almost everywhere to monitor video footage. Though quite handy, these cameras produce videos in a massive size and volume. The major challenge faced by security agencies is the effort of analyzing the surveillance video data collected and generated daily. Problems related to these videos are twofold: (1) understanding the contents of video streams, and (2) conversion of the video contents to condensed formats, such as textual interpretations and summaries, to save storage space. In this paper, we have proposed a video description framework on a surveillance dataset. This framework is based on the multitask learning of high-level features (HLFs) using a convolutional neural network (CNN) and natural language generation (NLG) through bidirectional recurrent networks. For each specific task, a parallel pipeline is derived from the base visual geometry group (VGG)-16 model. Tasks include scene recognition, action recognition, object recognition and human face specific feature recognition. Experimental results on the TRECViD, UET Video Surveillance (UETVS) and AGRIINTRUSION datasets depict that the model outperforms state-of-the-art methods by a METEOR (Metric for Evaluation of Translation with Explicit ORdering) score of 33.9%, 34.3%, and 31.2%, respectively. Our results show that our framework has distinct advantages over traditional rule-based models for the recognition and generation of natural language descriptions.

Energy efficiency is one of the major challenges in IEEE 802.15.4 based Internet of Things (IoT). In the Medium Access Control (MAC) layer of the IEEE 802.15.4 standard, Guaranteed Time Slot (GTS) are allocated to the IoT devices for data transmission. However, GTS allocation does not consider residual energy of IoT devices resulting in reduced life cycle of these devices. In this paper, we propose an efficient MAC protocol for RF harvesting based IoT devices. The proposed protocol uses residual energy based duty cycle adaptation to prioritize transmission of high energy devices, allowing low energy devices to harvest energy in the mean time. Simulation results show that the life cycle and transmitted data of IoT devices is improved up to 94% and 79% respectively by using the proposed protocol, as compared to the IEEE 802.15.4 standard.

Blockchain technology can solve current interoperability challenges in health information systems and provide the technical standard which ensures a secure sharing of electronic health data between individuals, healthcare providers, medical care institutions, and medical experts. In healthcare management, IoMT devices can deliver real-time sensory data from patients to be analyzed and processed. In IoMT devices within a range of product areas, the confidentiality of patients’ health data transmission and privacy is still a big problem. In this paper, the Multi-Modal Secure Data Dissemination Framework (MMSDDF) has been proposed based on blockchain in IoMT for secure patient data access and control. To meet the optimized security and privacy requirements of healthcare data management in IoMT devices, the proposed framework is effectively employed. Blockchain’s key has been used to a healthcare application network where the patient’s health data can create warnings that are significant to authenticated healthcare providers securely. The simulation outcomes show that the suggested MMSDDF method achieves a high accuracy ratio of 95.8%, a prediction ratio of 92.3%, less delay of 0.48 s, latency range of 0.5, and response time of 1.5% to other existing methods.

With the growing public attention on sustainable development and green ecosystems, the efficient management of fuzzy sewage treatment processes (FSTPs) has been a major concern in academia. Characterized by strong abstraction and analysis abilities, data mining technologies provide a novel perspective to solve this problem. In recent years, data-driven management for FSTP has been widely investigated, resulting in a number of typical approaches. However, almost all existing technical approaches consider FSTP a unidirectional, sequential process, ignoring the bidirectional temporality caused by backflow operations. Therefore, we propose a data-driven management mechanism for FSTP based on hybrid neural computing (IM-HNC for short). This mechanism attempts to capture the bidirectional time-series features of FSTP with the aid of a bidirectional long short-term memory model, and further introduces a convolutional neural network to construct feature spaces with a stronger expression capability. Empirically, we implement a series of experiments on three datasets under different parameter settings to test the efficiency and robustness of the proposed IM-HNC. The experimental results manifest that the IM-HNC has an average performance improvement of approximately 5% compared to the baselines.

Over the past years, carbon-based materials and especially graphene, have always been known as one of the most famous and popular materials for sensing applications. Graphene poses outstanding electrical and physical properties that make it favorable to be used as a transducer in the gas sensors structure. Graphene experiences remarkable changes in its physical and electrical properties when exposed to various gas molecules. Therefore, in this study, a set of new analytical models are developed to investigate energy band structure, the density of states (DOS), the velocity of charged carriers and I-V characteristics of the graphene after molecular (CO, NO2, H2O) adsorption. The results show that gas adsorption modulates the energy band structure of the graphene that leads to the variation of the energy bandgap, thus the DOS changes. Consequently, graphene converts to semiconducting material, which affects the graphene conductivity and together with the DOS variation, modulate velocity and I-V characteristics of the graphene. These parameters are important factors that can be implemented as sensing parameters and can be used to analyze and develop new sensors based on graphene material.

The Internet of Medical Things (IoMT) is structured upon both the sensing and communication infrastructure and computation facilities. The IoMT provides the convenient and cheapest ways for healthcare by aiding the remote access to the patients’ physiological data and using machine learning techniques for help in diagnosis. The communication delays in IoMT can be very harmful to healthcare. Device to device (D2D) secure communication is a vital area that can reduce communication delays; otherwise, caused due to the mediation of a third party. To substantiate a secure D2D communication framework, some schemes were recently proposed to secure D2D based communication infrastructure suitable for IoMT-based environments. However, the insecurities of some schemes against device physical capture attack and non-provision of anonymity along with related attacks are evident from the literature. This calls for a D2D secure access control system for realizing sustainable smart healthcare. In this article, using elliptic curve cryptography, a certificate based D2D access control scheme for IoMT systems (D2DAC-IoMT) is proposed. The security of the proposed D2DAC-IoMT is substantiated through formal and informal methods. Moreover, the performance analysis affirms that the proposed scheme provides a good trade-off between security and efficiency compared with some recent schemes.

Cloudlet is an important part of providing cloud services in Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) with sustainability. As the number of mobile users grows rapidly in the current era, the load in the cloudlet becomes very high. The cloudlet is considered in the middle layer for providing cloud services with low latency and energy efficiency. Hence the task allocation and scheduling inside of the cloudlet is a challenging job. In the recent past, many research works conducted without considering real-time network parameters. In this work, a heuristic load balancing strategy is designed and analyzed to minimize the task completion time and makespan, which enhances the efficiency of cloud services. The proposed method is considered a dynamic task allocation strategy to the cloudlet concerning network bandwidth, network delay, energy efficiency, and this approach is compared with the queue-based task allocation strategy. The experiment is conducted to compare the proposed method with the recently developed standard algorithms over the synthetic dataset. Experimental results of the proposed work show a significant improvement in task scheduling in terms of energy and execution cost, as well as time, compared to the existing methods. The proposed method outperforms the standard algorithm in most of the observed cases with sustainability.

Nowadays, communication engineering technology is merging with the Internet of Things (IoT), which consists of numerous connected devices (referred to as things) around the world. Many researchers have shown significant growth of sensor deployments for multiple smart engineering technologies, such as smart-healthcare, smart-industries, smart-cities, and smart-transportation, etc. In such intelligent engineering technologies, sensors continuously generate a bunch of messages in the network. To enhance the value of the data in the messages, we must know the actuality of the data embedded inside the messages. For this purpose, the contextual information of the data creates a vital challenge. Recently, context-aware computing has emerged to be fruitful in dealing with sensor information. In the ubiquitous computing domain, location is commonly considered one of the most essential sources of context. However, whenever users or applications are concerned with objects, and their site or spatial relationships, location models or spatial models are necessary to form a model of the environment. This paper investigates the area of context-aware messaging and addressing services in diverse IoT applications. The paper examines the notion of context and the use of context within the data exchanged by the sensors in an IoT application for messaging and addressing purposes. Based on the importance and need for context of the information, we identify three critical categories of new IoT applications for context-aware messaging and addressing services: emergency applications, applications for guiding and reminding, and social networking applications. For this purpose, a representative range of systems is reviewed according to the application type, the technology being used, their architecture, the context information, and the services they provide. This survey assists the work of defining an approach for context-aware messaging services domain by discovering the area of context-aware messaging.

The purpose of this study is (1) to examine Australian university students' awareness of the benefits of Web 2.0 technologies and (2) to investigate the factors that influence students to adopt Web 2.0 technologies to supplement in-class learning, using the theoretical foundations of both Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) and Decomposed Theory of Planned Behaviour (DTPB). Findings indicated that most students in this study's sample were aware of the benefits of Web 2.0 technologies to supplement in-class instructions. The findings also indicated that students' attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioural control were strong determinants of their intention to use Web 2.0 technologies.
