Abstract

Within an ab-initio HF scheme, we use both Berry-phase calculations and supercell calculations in order to compute the dynamical charges for lattice dynamics and the electronic dielectric constant for KNbO_3 and BaTiO_3. Comparison with experimental data indicates that HF provides a description of the electronic properties of this material whose accuracy is of the same order as the LDA one. There are however significant differences between the two sets of results, whose origin is scrutinized. Motivated by the study of surface and domain-boundary properties, we also present some results for BaTiO_3 slabs, including both genuinely isolated and periodically repeated slabs with different terminations. The capability of dealing with a genuinely isolated slab is a virtue of the localized-basis implementation adopted here. We demonstrate, amongst other things, the nontrivial dynamical-charge neutrality of BaTiO_3 [001] surfaces., Comment: 11 pages, 6 figures. In addition to maintaining the GenBank(R) nucleic acid sequence database, the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) provides analysis and retrieval resources for the data in GenBank and other biological data available through NCBI's web site. NCBI resources include Entrez, the Entrez Programming Utilities, My NCBI, PubMed, PubMed Central, Entrez Gene, the NCBI Taxonomy Browser, BLAST, BLAST Link, Electronic PCR, OrfFinder, Spidey, Splign, RefSeq, UniGene, HomoloGene, ProtEST, dbMHC, dbSNP, Cancer Chromosomes, Entrez Genome, Genome Project and related tools, the Trace, Assembly, and Short Read Archives, the Map Viewer, Model Maker, Evidence Viewer, Clusters of Orthologous Groups, Influenza Viral Resources, HIV-1/Human Protein Interaction Database, Gene Expression Omnibus, Entrez Probe, GENSAT, Database of Genotype and Phenotype, Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man, Online Mendelian Inheritance in Animals, the Molecular Modeling Database, the Conserved Domain Database, the Conserved Domain Architecture Retrieval Tool and the PubChem suite of small molecule databases. Abstract

We assembled teams of genomics professionals to assess whether we could rapidly develop pipelines to answer biological questions commonly asked by biologists and others new to bioinformatics by facilitating analysis of high-throughput sequencing data. In January 2015, teams were assembled on the National Institutes of Health (NIH) campus to address questions in the DNA-seq, epigenomics, metagenomics and RNA-seq subfields of genomics. The only two rules for this hackathon were that either the data used were housed at the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) or would be submitted there by a participant in the next six months, and that all software going into the pipeline was open-source or open-use. Questions proposed by organizers, as well as suggested tools and approaches, were distributed to participants a few days before the event and were refined during the event. Pipelines were published on GitHub, a web service providing publicly available, free-usage tiers for collaborative software development (https://github.com/features/). The code was published at https://github.com/DCGenomics/ with separate repositories for each team, starting with hackathon_v001.

Abstract

Цель – выполнить структурный анализ гребка руками спортивного способа брасс в условиях нового подхода в совокупной оценки пространственно-временных и динамических характеристик. Исследования проводились на основе нового прибора РГД-2 (регистратор гребковых движений пловца). По сравнению с прибором РГД в конструкцию вмонтированы дополнительные датчики: гироскоп, позволяющий оценить положение кисти по углам тангажа и стреловидности; акселерометр, дающий информацию о продвижении кисти по курсу, т. е. по траектории гребка спереди – назад относительно продольной оси тела пловца. На основе сопоставления данных графиков Х, Y с показателями силы F, можно сделать заключение об эффективном использовании скользящих движений кисти в потоке воды, позволяющих спортсмену создать хорошие опорные реакции. По оси тангажа наблюдается импульсивное увеличение скорости потока с одновременным увеличением силы давления в импульсивном режиме. Учитывая, что скорость руки в гребке выше скорости продвижения тела в 3-4 раза, нагрузки на кисть возрастают многократно. Выполнен структурный анализ гребка руками спортивного способа брасс в условиях нового подхода в совокупной оценки пространственно-временных и динамических характеристик. Aim: to perform structural analysis of the arm stroke in breaststroke within the new approach to the aggregate estimate of spatial-temporal and dynamical characteristics. The study was conducted using new device RGD-2 (stroke movement recorder). In comparison with RGD (4) device, the new construction had additional sensors integrated: gyroscope allowing the estimation of the hand position by the pitch and sweep angles; accelerometer recording the hand motion, i.e. along the stroke trajectory front-to-back relative to head-to-foot axis of the swimmer’s body. The comparison of X and Y diagrams with the force factors F suggests the effective use of the sliding hand movements in the water flow that allow the athlete to achieve good supporting reactions. Along the pitch axis there is an impulsive increase of the flow rate with the simultaneous increase of the force pressure in the impulsive mode. As the arm speed at stroke is factor of 3-4 higher than the body movement speed, the loads upon the hand are essentially increased. We performed the structural analysis of the arm stroke in breaststroke within the new approach to the aggregate estimate of spatial-temporal and dynamical characteristics. Abstract

As the volume and complexity of data sets archived at NCBI grow rapidly, so does the need to gather and organize the associated metadata. Although metadata has been collected for some archival databases, previously, there was no centralized approach at NCBI for collecting this information and using it across databases. The BioProject database was recently established to facilitate organization and classification of project data submitted to NCBI, EBI and DDBJ databases. It captures descriptive information about research projects that result in high volume submissions to archival databases, ties together related data across multiple archives and serves as a central portal by which to inform users of data availability. Concomitantly, the BioSample database is being developed to capture descriptive information about the biological samples investigated in projects. BioProject and BioSample records link to corresponding data stored in archival repositories. Submissions are supported by a web-based Submission Portal that guides users through a series of forms for input of rich metadata describing their projects and samples. Together, these databases offer improved ways for users to query, locate, integrate and interpret the masses of data held in NCBI's archival repositories. In addition to maintaining the GenBank(R) nucleic acid sequence database, the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) provides analysis and retrieval resources for the data in GenBank and other biological data available through NCBI's web site. NCBI resources include Entrez, the Entrez Programming Utilities, My NCBI, PubMed, PubMed Central, Entrez Gene, the NCBI Taxonomy Browser, BLAST, BLAST Link, Electronic PCR, OrfFinder, Spidey, Splign, RefSeq, UniGene, HomoloGene, ProtEST, dbMHC, dbSNP, Cancer Chromosomes, Entrez Genome, Genome Project and related tools, the Trace, Assembly, and Short Read Archives, the Map Viewer, Model Maker, Evidence Viewer, Clusters of Orthologous Groups, Influenza Viral Resources, HIV-1/Human Protein Interaction Database, Gene Expression Omnibus, Entrez Probe, GENSAT, Database of Genotype and Phenotype, Online Mendelian Inheritance in Man, Online Mendelian Inheritance in Animals, the Molecular Modeling Database, the Conserved Domain Database, the Conserved Domain Architecture Retrieval Tool and the PubChem suite of small molecule databases. Augmenting the web applications are custom implementations of the BLAST program optimized to search specialized data sets. Abstract

The National Center for Biotechnology Information has created the dbGaP public repository for individual-level phenotype, exposure, genotype and sequence data and the associations between them. dbGaP assigns stable, unique identifiers to studies and subsets of information from those studies, including documents, individual phenotypic variables, tables of trait data, sets of genotype data, computed phenotype-genotype associations, and groups of study subjects who have given similar consents for use of their data.
