The aim of this study was to update the distribution information of Atriplex taxa distributed in Turkey according to the specimens deposited in national herbaria. According to Flora of Turkey, Atriplex taxa distribute in 28 provinces and 62 localities. It is seen that this number increases to 238 localities in 48 provinces in total when the herbarium records are added. Distribution maps of Atriplex taxa according to provinces were provided, and it is clearly shown that different herbarium records increase knowledge about the distribution areas of the taxa., Bu çalışmada, ülkemizde yayılış gösteren Atriplex taksonlarının ulusal herbaryumlarda bulunan kayıtlar doğrultusunda yayılış bilgilerinin güncellenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Türkiye Florası kayıtlarına göre ülkemizde yayılış gösteren Atriplex taksonlarının 28 ilde ve 62 lokalitede yayılış gösterdiği herbaryum kayıtları ilave edildiğinde ise bu sayının 48 ilde ve toplamda 238 lokaliteye ulaştığı görülmektedir. Atriplex taksonlarının illere göre dağılım haritaları hazırlanmış ve farklı herbaryum kayıtlarının flora çeşitliliği ile taksonların yayılış alanlarına ilişkin bilgilerin artmasına belirgin bir etkisi olduğu görülmüştür.

In this study, threat category of local endemic plant species Campanula damboldtiana was reassessed according to IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria. C. damboldtiana prefers special habitat type with marly-gypsaceous soils. The assessment based on new field data such as current population size, distribution areas and the main threats to this taxon. Field studies were carried out during the vegetation periods between 2017 and 2018. In addition to those parameters, soil samples were taken from each location and physical and chemical analyses were performed including pH, EC, gypsum, texture, CaCO3 parameters. Also, bioclimatic interpretations were made with the climatic data of the locations. With a recently discovered population, C. damboldtiana has three populations known from Ankara. The estimated total number of mature individuals was 8982. The area of occupancy and the extent of occurrence were calculated as 16 km2 and 16 km2, respectively. Considering our findings of C. damboldtiana, the IUCN threat category was reassessed as Critically Endangered (CR) as indicated in Red Data Book of Turkish Plants.

Salsola grandis, Scutellaria yildirimlii and Sideritis gulendamii marnlı-jipsli topraklarda yetişen nadir ve endemik türlerdir. Bu türlerin parçalı yayılış göstermelerinin nedeni özel habitat tiplerine ihtiyaç duymalarıdır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, bu endemik türler için mevcut popülasyon büyüklüğü, yayılış alanı ve tehdit faktörlerini belirlemek ve yeni lokalitelerin keşfedilmesinin bir sonucu olarak artan popülasyon büyüklüğü ve yayılış alanlarından dolayı 2012 IUCN Kırmızı Liste Sınıfları ve Ölçütlerine göre tehlike kategorisini tekrar değerlendirmektir. Küçük popülasyonların mevcut popülasyon büyüklüğünü belirlemek için olgun bireyler tek tek sayılmıştır. Nispeten daha büyük popülasyonlar için olgun bireylerin sayısı 25 m2 büyüklüğünde rastgele seçilen örneklik alanlar ile tahmin edilmiştir. Yeni lokaliteleri dahil olmak üzere toplam 4 lokaliteye sahip olan Sa. grandis’in yaşam alanı 16 km2 ve yayılış alanı 3529 km2’dir. Tahmin edilen toplam birey sayısı 6067’dir. Toplanan veriler yeniden değerlendirildiğinde bu türün EN kategorisine ait olmasına rağmen yakın gelecekte yok olma riskine ilişkin olarak en uygun kategorinin CR olduğu düşünülmektedir. Sc. yildirimilii 24 km2 yaşam alanı ve 1305 km2’lik yayılış alanı ile 6 lokalitede yayılış göstermektedir. Tahmin edilen toplam birey sayısı 92934’tür. Elde edilen sonuçlar göz önüne alındığında Sc. yildirimlii 2012 IUCN kriterlerine göre yayılış alanı ve yaşam alanı bakımından EN kategorisine girerken lokalite sayısı bakımından VU altında sınıflandırılmıştır. Bununla birlikte EN kategorisinin bu tür için çok daha uygun olduğuna inanılmaktadır. Yaşam alanı ve yayılış alanı sırasıyla 28 km2, 5997 km2 olan Si. gulendamii 7 lokaliteye sahiptir. Tahmin edilen toplam olgun birey sayısı 20563’tür. Yayılış alanı, lokalite sayısı ve tehdit faktörleri tekrar göz önüne alındığında 2012 IUCN Kırmızı Liste Sınıfları ve Ölçütlerine göre EN kategorisinde yeniden değerlendirilmektedir., Salsola grandis, Scutellaria yildirimlii and Sideritis gulendamii are rare and edaphic endemic species, which grow on marly-gypseous soils. The reason that there exists discontinuous distribution for these species is because they need special habitat type. In this study, it is aimed to determine the current population size, distribution area and threat factors for these endemic species. It is also aimed to re-evaluate the IUCN threat category according to 2012 IUCN Red List Category and Criteria because an increase in the population size and the distribution areas were determined by the discovery of the new localities. For small populations, the population size was assessed by counting mature individuals one by one. For relatively larger populations, the number of mature individuals were estimated via randomly chosen sampling areas with the size of 25 m2. Including the new localities, 4 localities of Sa. grandis have the occupancy area of 16 km2 and the extent of occurrence area of 3529 km2. The estimated value of total number of mature individuals is 6067. Although the re-evaluation of collected data suggests that this species belongs to EN category, it is considered that CR category is the most suitable category for Sa. grandis regarding the risk of extinction in the near future. Sc. yildirimilii is distributed through 6 localities with the area of occupancy of 24 km2 and the extent of occurrence of 1305 km2. The estimated value of total number of individuals is 92934. Obtained results suggests that Sc. yildirimlii belongs to the category EN in terms of the extent of occurrence and the area of occupancy whereas it is categorized under VU in terms of number of locations according to 2012 IUCN criteria. However, it is believed that EN category is much more suitable for this species. Si. gulendamii, whose area of occupancy and extent of occurrence are 28 km2 and 5997 km2, respectively, has 7 localities. The estimated value of total number of mature individuals is 20563. Therefore, Si. gulendamii is re-evaluated in EN category according to 2012 IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria taking into account the extent of occurrence, number of locations and threat factors.

Toprak tuzluluğundaki artış ve kuraklık dünya genelinde özellikletarımsal üretim için en önemli sorunlardır. Bu gibi alanların remediasyonu içinharcanan çaba ve bütçeyle karşılaştırıldığında tuza toleranslı türler olanhalofitler ürün olarak iyi bir alternative sağlamaktadır. %0,5’den yüksektuzluluk şartlarında bile varlığını sürdüren halofit bitkilerin gıda, ilaç,endüstriyel hammadde, yem ve yakıt bitkisi olarak geleneksel kullanımlarıbulunmaktadır. Türkiye’de ise özellikle kıyı bölgelerinde sebze olaraktüketilmektedirler. Ülkemizde gerek doğal gerekse insan etkisi ile oluşmuş olantuzlu alanlar oldukça geniş bir alanı kaplamakta ve genel olarak işe yaramazçorak alanlar olarak Kabul edilmektedir. Ancak bu alanlar büyük bir çabagerektirmeksizin halofit tarımında kullanım potansiyeline sahiptirler. Halofitbitkilerin gıda veya herhangi bir endüstriyel ürün olarak üretilmesi bualanları da değerlendirecektir. Bu çalışmada gıda olarak dünya genelindekullanılan taksonlardan ülkemizde de doğal olarak yetişenler ve ayrıcakullanımı olup ülkemizde akrabaları bulunan taksonlar ve potansiyelkullanımları verilmiştir., Increase in soil salinity and water deficiencyis important problems of the world especially in agricultural areas. Beside ofspending effort and capital for remediation of such areas, using salt tolerantcrops can be a good alternative. For saline areas halophytes are the bestcandidates as a crop. They can survive in saline areas with salinity over 0.5%.Halophytes have some traditional usages as food, medicine, industrial products,forage and fuel. In Turkey,especially in coastal areas some of them are consumed as a vegetable. Turkeyhas large saline areas, which are accepted as wastelands, can be used forproduction of halophytes without great effort. Production of halophytes as foodor any kind of industrial product also values these areas. In this study,halophytic plants with known usage for food and have potential for agriculturalproduction in Turkeyare provided.

In this study, the possible uses of glassworts as poten tial food ingredients and their antiproliferative activityagainst colorectal adenocarcinoma cells together with their antioxidant and phytochemical profiles were investigatedfor the first time. MeOH extracts of five different taxa collected from different localities were screened for theirantioxidant capacities by DPPH (IC502.91 – 5.49 mg/ml) and ABTS (24.4 – 38.5 lmol TE/g extract) assays. Salicorniafreitagii exhibited the highest DPPH radical scavenging activity. LC/MS/MS analysis displayed that vanillic acid andp-couma ric acid were two main phenolic compounds in the extract. Salicornia freitagi i extracts also exhibited highantiproliferative activity against HT-29 (IC501.67 mg/ml) and Caco-2 (IC503.03 mg/ml) cells for 72 h. Mineral analysisindicated that all the species with different proportions of elemental components contained high amount of cations.These results indicate that investigated glassworts, with their high phenolic and mineral contents and also notableantioxidant and cytotoxic properties, may be utilized as a promising source of therapeutics

In this study we aimed to reveal the ranges and effectiveness of soil parameters on the distribution of H. strobilaceum. Halocnemum strobilaceum Bieb. is a widespread species in saline habitats and the distribution pattern of this halophytic species around Lake Tuz in Central Anatolia was examined according to the soil characteristics. pH, electrical conductivity, soil humidity, salt percentage, soluble Ca2+, Mg2+, Na+, K+, CO3(2-), HCO3(-), Cl(-) and SO4(2-) values, total cations, cation exchange capacity, sodium adsorption ratio, exchangeable Na+, K+, Ca2+ and Mg2+ values were the examined soil properties. The most effective soil parameters for flowering period were found as Na, SO4, total cations, SAR and EC and for seed bearing period as EC, Mg, total cations, Cl, Na, SO4 and salt (%) content of the soil.

In this study, Pulsatilla Mill., which was considered a subgenus of the genus Anemone L. in Flora of Turkey, is accepted as a separate genus. Pulsatilla albana (Steven) Bercht. & J.Presl subsp. albana and P. violacea Rupr. subsp. violacea are declared as new records for the flora of Turkey. Anemone albana Steven subsp. armena (Boiss.) N.Busch, which was already known from Turkey, is accepted as a synonym of Pulsatilla violacea subsp. armena (Boiss.) Luferov. Descriptions, distribution maps, and identification keys are provided for these taxa in order to aid in the distinguishing of the genera Anemone and Pulsatilla as well as for species and subspecies of Pulsatilla in Turkey.

Bu çalışmada, Türkiye Florasının 2. cildinde Arthrocnemum glaucum (Del.) Ung.- Sternb. olarak kabul edilen, Chenopodiaceae familyasından Arthrocnemum macrostachyum (Moric.) K. Koch türünün oldukça eksik olarak verilen tanımı, yayılışı, sinonimleri, IUCN tehlike kategorisi, habitat özellikleri ayrıntılı olarak verilmiş, ülkemizden ilk kez kromozom sayısı tespit edilmiştir., In this study, Arthrocnemum macrostachyum (Moric.) K. Koch (Chenopodiaceae), which was mentioned as Arthrocnemum glaucum (Del.) Ung.-Sternb. and given description was insufficient in Flora of Turkey vol. 2, is investigated in detail and its description, distribution, synonymy, IUCN threat category, habitat properties are given. Chromosome number of the species is reported first time from Turkey.
