- Abstract
Objective: To analyze the risk factors affecting regional lymph node metastasis in salivary gland mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) and to establish a nomogram model for individually predicting lymph node metastasis in salivary gland MEC. Methods: The clinical data of 2 152 patients with salivary gland MEC from 1975 to 2020 were collected from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database of the National Cancer Institute. The collected data were divided into training cohort (1 506 cases) and validation cohort (646 cases) according to the ratio of 7∶3. Single-factor regression and multi-factor logistic regression were used to screen factors related to local lymph node metastasis in salivary gland MEC, with constructing of a nomogram. Calibration curve, receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, area under the ROC curve (AUC) and decision curve analysis were used to evaluate model performance in the validation cohort and the total cohort. Statistical tests were performed using SPSS (26.0) and R (4.3.0) software. Results: Multivariate logistic regression results showed that M stage [ OR (95% CI ):12.360(3.295-46.365), P =0.014], pathological grade Ⅱ、Ⅲ、Ⅳ[ OR (95% CI ): 1.956(1.329-2.879), 9.654(6.309-14.772), 9.298(6.072-14.238), P <0.001], T staging T2, T3, T4[ OR (95% CI ): 1.706(0.932-3.124), 3.021(1.790-5.096), 3.311(1.925-5.695), P <0.001], and gender [ OR (95% CI ):0.759(0.593-0.972), P =0.029] were independent factors affecting local lymph node metastasis in salivary gland MEC. Through verification in the validation cohort and the total cohort, the AUC values were greater than 0.8, and the calibration curve was close to the perfect reference line, proving that the constructed nomogram model had good specificity and sensitivity for predicting local lymph node metastasis in salivary gland MEC. Conclusion: M stage, pathological grade, T stage, and gender are risk factors for predicting regional lymph node metastasis and the established-nomogram has good predictive performance for local lymph node metastasis in salivary gland MEC.

- Abstract
Purpose: To explore the resources, parents with cancer and their partners draw upon to sustain their family resilience through the cancer experience., Methods: Fifteen participants who were parents of children aged 8 to 25 years completed phone, audio-recorded, and semi-structured interviews. Of these participants, 11 were parents diagnosed with cancer, and four were partners of a parent diagnosed with cancer. Interview questions aimed to increase understanding about how families communicate, connect, and face challenges from the cancer experience. Interview data was analysed using inductive thematic analysis to provide scope to generate themes from parent's experiences rather than to test pre-existing frameworks., Results: The thematic analysis of interview transcripts generated three key themes related to family resilience: (1) adaptability to changes in roles and routines, (2) open communication within the family, and (3) accepting support from others., Conclusion: This study found that parents' ability to use personal resources when faced with significant challenges helped to improve the resilience of parents' family system. Further research is needed to understand the factors that influence family resilience when a parent is diagnosed with cancer. Implications for the development of targeted interventions that provide support to not only the patient, but their whole family system will be discussed., (© 2024. The Author(s).)

5. Life Satisfaction and Its Relationship With Personality Traits Among Medical College Students in China.

- Abstract
Background: Life satisfaction is a comprehensive psychological index to measure a person's life quality. Previous studies have found that population sociological factors, physiological factors, psychological factors, and social factors all affect life satisfaction, but few studies have looked at the role of stable psychological factors, such as personality, in life satisfaction. Thus, this study combined previous research results and theories to study the current situation of college students' life satisfaction and its correlation with personality., Objective: This study aims to comprehensively assess the life satisfaction levels among university students enrolled in a medical college in China, explore their correlation with various demographic factors and personality traits, identify potential areas for intervention, and provide recommendations for improving students' overall well-being and fostering the development of a positive and healthy personality., Methods: A stratified cluster sampling method was used to select college students from a university. The questionnaire consists of general characteristics, a life satisfaction scale, and the Big Five Inventory. Descriptive statistical methods were conducted to describe the college students' life satisfaction status; an analysis of variance was performed to compare the score of life satisfaction among different demographic features; and the correlation between the score of life satisfaction and the Big Five Inventory was also analyzed., Results: A total of 3116 subjects were included in this survey. The life satisfaction of females was higher than that of males in the dimensions of family, friends, school, and overall satisfaction (p<0.05). The life satisfaction of males in the self dimension was higher than that of females (p<0.05). The life satisfaction of different weight types had statistical significance in the life dimension (p<0.05). The life satisfaction of family, school, and overall well-being among smoking college students was lower than that of non-smoking college students (p<0.05). The life satisfaction of non-drinking college students in family, friends, life, school, and overall life satisfaction scores was higher than those of drinking college students (p<0.05). College students who get plenty of sleep a day (more than eight hours) scored higher life satisfaction scores in the self dimension than sleep-deprived college students (p<0.05). In addition to the family dimension, students taking long physical exercise breaks every day had higher life satisfaction scores in every dimension than students lacking physical exercise (p<0.05). The mean score of personality in the agreeableness and openness dimensions is the highest. Correlation analysis showed that the personality score in each dimension was positively correlated with the life satisfaction score in each dimension except for the neuroticism dimension of personality (p<0.05)., Conclusion: The life satisfaction of college students is different for different lifestyles. The student management department should pay attention to the physical and mental health of college students with low life satisfaction and further find out the reasons for the difference in life satisfaction. 6. Ultra-high photoelectric conversion efficiency and obvious carrier separation in photovoltaic ZnIn 2 X 4 (X = S, Se, and Te) van der Waals heterostructures.

- Abstract
The need for low-carbon solar electricity production has become increasingly urgent for energy security and climate change mitigation. However, the bandgap and carrier separation critical requirements of high-efficiency solar cells are difficult to satisfy simultaneously in a single material. In this work, several van der Waals ZnIn
2 X4 (X = S, Se, and Te) heterostructures were designed based on density functional theory. Our results suggest that both ZnIn2 S4 /ZnIn2 Se4 and ZnIn2 Se4 /ZnIn2 Te4 heterostructures are direct bandgap semiconductors at the Γ point. Besides, obvious carrier spatial separations were observed in the ZnIn2 S4 /ZnIn2 Se4 and ZnIn2 Se4 /ZnIn2 Te4 heterostructures. Interestingly, the ZnIn2 S4 /ZnIn2 Se4 heterostructure has a suitable bandgap of 1.43 eV with good optical absorption in the visible light range. The calculated maximum theoretical photoelectric conversion efficiency of ZnIn2 S4 /ZnIn2 Se4 heterostructure was 32.1%, and it can be further enhanced to 32.9% under 2% tensile strain. Compared to single-layer ZnIn2 X4 materials, the electron effective mass of the ZnIn2 S4 /ZnIn2 Se4 heterostructure is relatively low, which results in high electron mobility in the heterostructure. The suitable bandgap, obvious carrier separation, high electron mobility, and excellent theoretical photoelectric conversion efficiency of the ZnIn2 S4 /ZnIn2 Se4 heterostructure make it a promising candidate for novel 2D-based photoelectronic devices and solar cells.- Published

7. The HDAC2-MTA3 interaction induces nonsmall cell lung cancer cell migration and invasion by targeting c-Myc and cyclin D1.

- Abstract
Genome-wide association studies have identified numerous single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with lung cancer; however, the functions of histone deacetylase 2 (HDAC2) rs13213007 and HDAC2 in nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) remain unclear. Here we identified HDAC2 rs13213007 as a risk SNP and showed that HDAC2 was upregulated in both peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) and NSCLC tissues with the rs13213007 A/A genotype compared with those with the rs13213007 G/G or G/A genotype. Patient clinical data indicated strong associations between rs13213007 genotype and N classification. Immunohistochemical staining confirmed that higher expression of HDAC2 was associated with NSCLC progression. Furthermore, we generated 293T cells with the rs13213007 A/A genotype using CRISPR (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats)/Cas9 gene editing. Chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing followed by motif analysis showed that HDAC2 can bind to c-Myc in rs13213007 A/A 293T cells. Cell Counting Kit-8, colony formation, wound-healing, and Transwell assays revealed that HDAC2 upregulates c-Myc and cyclin D1 expression and promotes NSCLC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion. Co-immunoprecipitation, quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, and western blot analysis assays showed that MTA3 interacts with HDAC2, decreases HDAC2 expression, and rescues the migration and invasion abilities of NSCLC cells. 8. Enhanced optical absorption in two-dimensional Ruddlesden-Popper (C 6 H 5 CH 2 NH 3 ) 2 PbI 4 perovskites via biaxial strain and surface doping.

- Abstract
Two-dimensional Ruddlesden-Popper (2D RP) perovskites can form layered protective materials using long organic cations as "barrier" caps, which is expected to solve the problem of instability of perovskites in the working environment. In this work, we systematically studied the 2D Ruddlesden-Popper (C
6 H5 CH2 NH3 )2 PbI4 hybrid perovskites using density functional theory. The results reveal that the 2D (C6 H5 CH2 NH3 )2 PbI4 perovskites are semiconductors with band gaps of 2.22 eV. The optical absorption peak of the 2D (C6 H5 CH2 NH3 )2 PbI4 perovskite structure is located at 532 nm in the visible region. Interestingly, the optical absorption spectrum of the 2D (C6 H5 CH2 NH3 )2 PbI4 perovskite structure enhanced under suitable strains. The highest optical absorption peak appears in 2D (C6 H5 CH2 NH3 )2 PbI4 under a -2% strain, and its theoretical photoelectric conversion efficiency is 28.5%. More interestingly, the replacement of surface I atoms with Br is another ways to enhance the optical absorption spectrum of the 2D (C6 H5 CH2 NH3 )2 PbI4 perovskite structure. The optical absorption peak blue-shifts to the high energy region, which has higher solar energy flux density than the low energy region. The good stability, tuneable band gap and excellent theoretical photoelectric conversion efficiency of the 2D (C6 H5 CH2 NH3 )2 PbI4 perovskite structure make it a promising candidate for novel 2D hybrid perovskite based photoelectronic devices and solar cells.- Published

9. Altered GC- and AT-biased genotypes of Ophiocordyceps sinensis in the stromal fertile portions and ascospores of natural Cordyceps sinensis.

Objective: To examine multiple genotypes of Ophiocordyceps sinensis in a semi-quantitative manner in the stromal fertile portion (SFP) densely covered with numerous ascocarps and ascospores of natural Cordyceps sinensis and to outline the dynamic alterations of the coexisting O. sinensis genotypes in different developmental phases., Methods: Mature Cordyceps sinensis specimens were harvested and continuously cultivated in our laboratory (altitude 2,254 m). The SFPs (with ascocarps) and fully and semi-ejected ascospores were collected for histological and molecular examinations. Biochip-based single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry (MS) was used to genotype multiple O. sinensis mutants in the SFPs and ascospores., Results: Microscopic analysis revealed distinct morphologies of the SFPs (with ascocarps) before and after ascospore ejection and SFP of developmental failure, which, along with the fully and semi-ejected ascospores, were subjected to SNP MS genotyping analysis. Mass spectra showed the coexistence of GC- and AT-biased genotypes of O. sinensis that were genetically and phylogenetically distinct in the SFPs before and after ejection and of developmental failure and in fully and semi-ejected ascospores. The intensity ratios of MS peaks were dynamically altered in the SFPs and the fully and semi-ejected ascospores. Mass spectra also showed transversion mutation alleles of unknown upstream and downstream sequences with altered intensities in the SFPs and ascospores. Genotype #5 of AT-biased Cluster-A maintained a high intensity in all SFPs and ascospores. An MS peak with a high intensity containing AT-biased Genotypes #6 and #15 in pre-ejection SFPs was significantly attenuated after ascospore ejection. The abundance of Genotypes #5‒6 and #16 of AT-biased Cluster-A was differentially altered in the fully and semi-ejected ascospores that were collected from the same Cordyceps sinensis specimens., Conclusion: Multiple O. sinensis genotypes coexisted in different combinations with altered abundances in the SFPs prior to and after ejection, the SFP of developmental failure, and the two types of ascospores of Cordyceps sinensis, demonstrating their genomic independence. 10. Drug delivery system for the extended-release of larotrectinib based on a biocompatible Fe-based metal-organic framework: synthesis, characterization, in vitro release properties and antitumor evaluation.

- Abstract
Larotrectinib (Lar) is an orally administered tropomyosin receptor kinase (Trk) inhibitor with broad-spectrum antitumor activity that is available in clinical dosage forms as capsules and oral solutions. Currently, corresponding research is focused on developing new extended-release formulation systems for Lar. In this study, a biocompatible Fe-based metal-organic framework (Fe-MOF) carrier was synthesized by a solvent-based method, and a sustained-release drug delivery system (Lar@Fe-MOF) was constructed by nanoprecipitation and Lar loading. Lar@Fe-MOF was characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and its drug loading capacity and drug release properties were measured by ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis) spectroscopy. Then, the toxicity and biocompatibility of the Fe-MOF carriers were evaluated using 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) and hemocompatibility assays. Finally, the anticancer potential of Lar@Fe-MOF was investigated. The TEM results showed that Lar@Fe-MOF had a homogeneous fusiform nanostructural morphology. The DSC and FTIR results showed that Fe-MOF carriers were successfully synthesized and loaded with Lar, which was mainly in an amorphous form. Lar@Fe-MOF showed a large drug loading capacity (-10%) and significant slow-release properties in vitro . The MTT assay results showed that Lar@Fe-MOF had good dose-dependent anticancer activity. The in vivo pharmacodynamic assay results showed that Fe-MOF significantly increased the anticancer activity of Lar and was biocompatible. 11. Self-report Sleep Quality and its Risk Factors Among Community-dwelling Older Adults in China.

- Abstract
Context: Researchers have associated insomnia with many disorders, making insomnia a serious public health issue in China. Sleep quality in older adults isn't well characterized in China., Objective: The study intended to explore the sleep quality and subjective duration of sleep in a community-dwelling older population in China and identify potential risk factors for poor sleep., Design: The research team performed a cross-sectional survey using the convenience sampling method., Setting: The study took place in a community in Wuhu, Anhui, China in 2015., Participants: Participants were 1075 members of the community from Wuhu city., Outcome Measures: The research team collected self-reported information on sleep quality., Results: The overall prevalence of self-reported insomnia among older adults were 40.8%. The prevalence of insomnia in females, 259 (59.00%), was significantly higher than in males, 180 (41.00%), with P = .00. For income status, the prevalence of insomnia was significantly higher for participants with less than 10 000 RMB per year income for a family, 191 participants (43.51%), than for participants with higher family incomes, with P = .00. For marital status, the prevalence of insomnia was significantly higher for the widowed participants, 121 participants (24.56%), with P = .01., Conclusions: Sleep quality for females, low-income families, and widowed people were significantly worse than for people in other categories among older adults in China. Older adults in China need proper interventions for the factors causing poor sleep hygiene.

12. Non-suicidal self-injury and professional psychological help-seeking among Chinese left-behind children: prevalence and influencing factors.

- Abstract
Background: Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) is a risk factor for suicide. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of NSSI and professional psychological help-seeking status and influencing factors among left-behind children (LBC) in China., Methods: We implemented a population-based cross-sectional study in participants aged 10-18 years. Sociodemographic characteristics, NSSI, help-seeking status and coping style were measured by self-reported questionnaires. A total of 16,866 valid questionnaires were collected, including 6096 LBC. Binary logistic regression models were used to analyze the factors influencing NSSI and professional psychological help-seeking., Results: The incidence of NSSI among LBC was 4.6%, significantly higher than that of non-left-behind children (NLBC). This incidence was higher among girls. Moreover, 53.9% of LBC with NSSI did not receive any treatment and only 22.0% sought professional psychological help. LBC often adopt emotion-oriented coping styles, specifically, those with NSSI. LBC with NSSI who seek professional help tend to adopt problem-oriented coping styles. Logistic regression analysis revealed that girls, learning stage, single-parent, remarried families, patience, and emotional venting were risk factors for NSSI in LBC, while problem-solving and social support seeking were protective factors. Moreover, problem-solving was also a predictor for seeking professional psychological help, patience will prevent it., Limitations: This was an online survey., Conclusions: The prevalence of NSSI in LBC is high. Gender, grade, family structure, and coping style affect the occurrence of NSSI among LBC. Only a few LBC with NSSI seek professional psychological help, while the coping style will affect the help-seeking behavior., (© 2023. The Author(s).)

13. Differential coexistence of multiple genotypes of Ophiocordyceps sinensis in the stromata, ascocarps and ascospores of natural Cordyceps sinensis.

Objective: To examine the differential occurrence of Ophiocordyceps sinensis genotypes in the stroma, stromal fertile portion (SFP) densely covered with numerous ascocarps, and ascospores of natural Cordyceps sinensis., Methods: Immature and mature C. sinensis specimens were harvested. Mature C. sinensis specimens were continuously cultivated in our laboratory (altitude 2,200 m). The SFPs (with ascocarps) and ascospores of C. sinensis were collected for microscopic and molecular analyses using species-/genotype-specific primers. Sequences of mutant genotypes of O. sinensis were aligned with that of Genotype #1 Hirsutella sinensis and compared phylogenetically using a Bayesian majority-rule method., Results: Fully and semiejected ascospores were collected from the same specimens. The semiejected ascospores tightly adhered to the surface of the asci as observed by the naked eye and under optical and confocal microscopies. The multicellular heterokaryotic ascospores showed uneven staining of nuclei. The immature and mature stromata, SFPs (with ascocarps) and ascospores were found to differentially contain several GC- and AT-biased genotypes of O. sinensis, Samsoniella hepiali, and an AB067719-type fungus. The genotypes within AT-biased Cluster-A in the Bayesian tree occurred in all compartments of C. sinensis, but those within AT-biased Cluster-B were present in immature and mature stromata and SPFs but absent in the ascospores. Genotype #13 of O. sinensis was present in semi-ejected ascospores and Genotype #14 in fully ejected ascospores. GC-biased Genotypes #13-14 featured large DNA segment substitutions and genetic material recombination between the genomes of the parental fungi (H. sinensis and the AB067719-type fungus). These ascosporic offspring genotypes combined with varying abundances of S. hepiali in the 2 types of ascospores participated in the control of the development, maturation and ejection of the ascospores., Conclusion: Multiple genotypes of O. sinensis coexist differentially in the stromata, SFPs and 2 types of C. sinensis ascospores, along with S. hepiali and the AB067719-type fungus. A correlation study of the diagnostic value of miRNAs in HTN with LVH was conducted using a computer search of the China Knowledge Network (CNKI), Wanfang, VIP, China Biomedical Literature Database (CBM), PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase. Studies from the time of database creation to May 2022 were evaluated. The quality assessment of diagnostic accuracy studies-2 (QUADAS-2) tool in RevMan 5.3 was used to evaluate the quality of the literature, and Meta-Disc 1.4 and Stata 16.0, were used to calculate the combined sensitivity (SEN), specificity (SPE), positive likelihood ratio (PLR), negative likelihood ratio (NLR), diagnostic advantage ratio (DOR), and their 95% confidence intervals. Subject working characteristic curves were plotted and the area under the curve (AUC) was calculated using Stata 16.0. Seven publications and 8 studies were included. miRNA diagnoses of HTN with LVH had SEN
combined = 0.84, SPEcombined = 0.80, PLRcombined = 4.2, NLRcombined = 0.20, DORcombined = 21, and AUCcombined = 0.89. Subgroup analysis showed that the sensitivity of plasma miRNA for the diagnosis of HTN with LVH was 0.85, which was higher than that of serum which was 0.83. The specificity of serum miRNA for the diagnosis of HTN with LVH was 0.82, which was higher than that of plasma which was 0.78, and the diagnostic accuracy of miRNA in serum DOR was 23, which was higher than that of plasma DOR which was 20. - Abstract
This paper was aimed to study the effects of Qizhiweitong particles (QZWT) on gastric motility in gastroparesis model rats, and to provide a theoretical and experimental basis for its clinical treatment. Rat gastroparesis model was established by bilateral injection of 6-hydroxydopamine into the substantia nigra in male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats. The model rats received single gastric feeding of 1, 10, 30, 100, 200, 450, or 675 mg/kg QZWT or continuous administration of 675 mg/kg QZWT per day for 7 days. The gastric motility was measured by gastric emptying study and in vivo digital X-ray imaging system. The in vivo and ex vivo gastric longitudinal muscle contraction was recorded by PowerLab biological signal acquisition system. Gastric myoelectric signals were recorded by wireless implantable telemetry system. Protein expression levels of proinflammatory proteases in the myometrium were determined by Western blot. The results showed that the single administration of QZWT dose-dependently inhibited the contractile activity of isolated gastric strips from normal rats. The single administration of QZWT inhibited the in vivo contraction of gastric smooth muscle and gastric myoelectric signal in the control and model rats. The gastric emptying rate, in vivo and ex vivo gastric motility and gastric myoelectric signal in the model rats were significantly decreased compared with those in the control rats; While the continuous administration of QZWT markedly improved all the above indices of gastric motility function. The single administration of QZWT inhibited isolated gastric muscle strip contraction, and neither atropine nor nitric oxide synthase inhibitor pretreatments affected QZWT's inhibitory effects. The continuous administration of QZWT down-regulated the increased protein expression levels of nitric oxide synthase and cyclooxygenase 2 in the model group. These results suggest that, in clinical treatment, the single administration of QZWT may induce an analgesic effect by rapidly inhibiting gastric motility, while this effect is not related to acetylcholine or nitric oxide pathways. Long-term treatment with QZWT may ameliorate gastric motility through enhancing myoelectric activities, gastric smooth muscle contraction and gastric emptying, and this effect may partly be related to its anti-inflammatory effect.

The endoplasmic reticulum-localized DnaJ family 3B (ERdj3B), is a component of the stromal cell-derived factor 2 (SDF2)-ERdj3B-binding immunoglobulin protein (BiP) chaperone complex, which functions in protein folding, translocation, and quality control. We found that ERdj3B mutations affected integument development in the Ler ecotype but not in the Col-0 ecotype of Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana). Map-based cloning identified the ERECTA (ER) gene as a natural modifier of ERdj3B. The double mutation of ERdj3B and ER caused a major defect in the inner integument under heat stress. Additional mutation of the ER paralog ERECTA-LIKE 1 (ERL1) or ERL2 to the erdj3b er double mutant exacerbated the defective integument phenotype. The double mutation of ER and SDF2, the other component of the SDF2-ERdj3B-BiP complex, resulted in similar defects in the inner integument. Furthermore, both the protein abundance and plasma membrane partitioning of ER, ERL1, and ERL2 were markedly reduced in erdj3b plants, indicating that the SDF2-ERdj3B-BiP chaperone complex might control the translocation of ERECTA-family proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum to the plasma membrane. 17. Incident Stroke and Its Influencing Factors in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and/or Hypertension: A Prospective Cohort Study.

- Abstract
Objective: To understand the incidence of stroke in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and/or hypertension (HTN), and provide a basis for the prevention of stroke in these patients., Methods: A prospective cohort study was performed for adults with T2DM and/or HTN. The follow-up period was 1 year. The incidence and recurrence rate of stroke was calculated and a multivariate Cox proportional hazard was used to analyze influencing factors of stroke occurrence and recurrence in the follow-up of patients with T2DM and/or HTN., Results: Of the 1,650 patients with T2DM and/or HTN, 1,213 patients had no history of stroke. After 1 year of follow-up, 147 new stroke cases occurred, and the incidence rate of stroke was 12.1%. Among the patients who had stroke history (413), there were 116 cases of stroke with a recurrence rate of 26.5%. Seven risk factors were independently associated with stroke occurrence among patients without stroke history, included smoking, abnormal total cholesterol abnormal low-density lipoprotein patients with comorbid T2DM with HTN, physical inactivity, carotid artery stenosis (CAS), and higher scores of National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS). Higher scores of NHISS and CAS were independent risk factors for the recurrence of stroke among patients with stroke history., Conclusions: Patients with T2DM and/or HTN have a higher rate of new stroke and recurrence after 1-year follow-up. 18. Development of Flexible Biceps Tremors Sensing Chip of PVDF Fibers with Nano-Silver Particles by Near-Field Electrospinning.

Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and AgNO
3 /PVDF composite piezoelectric fibers were prepared using near-field electrospinning technology. The prepared fibers are attached to the electrode sheet and encapsulated with polydimethylsiloxane to create an energy acquisition device and further fabricated into a dynamic sensing element. The addition of AgNO3 significantly increased the conductivity of the solution from 40.33 μS/cm to 883.59 μS/cm, which in turn made the fiber drawing condition smoother with the increase of high voltage electric field and reduced the fiber wire diameter size from 0.37 μm to 0.23 μm. The tapping test shows that the voltage signal can reach ~0.9 V at a frequency of 7 Hz, and the energy conversion efficiency is twice that of the PVDF output voltage. The addition of AgNO3 effectively enhances the molecular bonding ability, which effectively increases the piezoelectric constants of PVDF piezoelectric fibers. When the human body is exercised for a long period of time and the body is overloaded, the biceps muscle is found to produce 8 to 16 tremors/second through five arm flexion movements. The voltage output of the flexible dynamic soft sensor is between 0.7-0.9 V and shows an orderly alternating current waveform of voltage signals. The sensor can be used to detect muscle tremors after high-intensity training and to obtain advance information about changes in the symptoms of fasciculation, allowing for more accurate diagnosis and treatment.- Published

19. Sublethal Exposure to Deltamethrin Stimulates Reproduction and Alters Symbiotic Bacteria in Aphis gossypii .

In aphids, hormesis and symbiotic bacteria are the drivers for the development of pesticide resistance. However, the related mechanism remains unclear. Here, we evaluated the sublethal and transgenerational effects of the extensively used pyrethroid pesticide deltamethrin (DMT) on the population dynamics in Aphis gossypii and tested its influence on symbiotic bacterial communities. The leaf-dip bioassay revealed that DMT was highly toxic to A. gossypii , and at a low lethal concentration of DMT, the intrinsic ( r ) and finite rates of increase (λ) of the initially exposed aphids (G0) significantly decreased. Intriguingly, the r , λ, and net reproductive rate ( R
0 ) of G1 and G2 significantly increased, but the r and λ decreased in G3. The adult and total preoviposition period increased in G3 but decreased in G4. Additionally, the diversity of the bacterial community decreased, while the abundance values of Buchnera , Pseudomonadaceae, and Burkholderiaceae increased after 24 h of exposure to LC30 DMT in G0 aphids, and the latter two decreased in G1 but increased in G2. In summary, sublethal DMT has intergenerational hormesis effect on cotton aphids in G1-G2 and remarkably altered their symbiotic bacterial community and abundance. These results broaden our understanding of the relationship of hormesis and symbiotic bacteria in aphids under insecticide exposure.- Published

20. Activation of α7nAChR Protects Against Gastric Inflammation and Dysmotility in Parkinson's Disease Rats.

The cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway (CAIP) has been proposed to regulate gastrointestinal inflammation via acetylcholine released from the vagus nerve activating α7 nicotinic receptor (α7nAChR) on macrophages. Parkinson's disease (PD) patients and PD rats with substantia nigra (SN) lesions exhibit gastroparesis and a decayed vagal pathway. To investigate whether activating α7nAChR could ameliorate inflammation and gastric dysmotility in PD rats, ELISA, western blot analysis, and real-time PCR were used to detect gastric inflammation. In vitro and in vivo gastric motility was investigated. Proinflammatory mediator levels and macrophage numbers were increased in the gastric muscularis of PD rats. α7nAChR was located on the gastric muscular macrophages of PD rats. The α7nAChR agonists PNU-282987 and GTS-21 decreased nuclear factor κB (NF-κB) activation and monocyte chemotactic protein-1 mRNA expression in the ex vivo gastric muscularis of PD rats, and these effects were abolished by an α7nAChR antagonist. After treatment with PNU-282987 in vivo, the PD rats showed decreased NF-κB activation, inflammatory mediator production, and contractile protein expression and improved gastric motility. Background: Aphis gossypii, a polyphagous and recurrent pest induced by pesticides, causes tremendous loss crop yields each year. Previous studies on the mechanism of pesticide-induced sublethal effects mainly focus on the gene level. The symbiotic bacteria are also important participants of this mechanism, but their roles in hormesis are still unclear., Results: In this study, life table parameters and 16S rRNA sequencing were applied to evaluate the sublethal and transgenerational effects of sulfoxaflor on adult A. gossypii after 24-h LC
20 (6.96 mg L-1 ) concentration exposure. The results indicated that the LC20 of sulfoxaflor significantly reduced the finite rate of increase (λ) and net reproductive rate (R0 ) of parent generation (G0), and significantly increased mean generation time (T) of G1 and G2, but not of G3 and G4. Both reproductive period and fecundity of G1 and G2 were significantly higher than those of the control. Furthermore, our sequencing data revealed that more than 95% bacterial communities were dominated by the phylum Proteobacteria, in which the maximum proportion genus was the primary symbiont Buchnera and the facultative symbiont Arsenophonus. Compared to those of the control, the abundance and composition of symbiotic bacteria of A. gossypii for three successive generations (G0-G2) were changed after G0 A. gossypii was exposed to sulfoxaflor: the diversity of the bacterial community was decreased, but the abundance of Buchnera was increased (G0), while the abundance of Arsenophonus was decreased. 22. The Association of Suicidal Ideation With Family Characteristics and Social Support of the First Batch of Students Returning to a College During the COVID-19 Epidemic Period: A Cross Sectional Study in China.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of suicidal ideation among the first batch of students returning to a college during the COVID-19 epidemic, and to explore the correlation of suicidal ideation with family characteristics and social support. Methods: A cluster sampling survey with a self-designed questionnaire was conducted among the first batch of students returning to a college in Wuhu, China. The Positive and Negative Suicidal ideation (PANSI) and Social Support Scale (SSRS) were used to define students' suicidal ideation and social support, respectively. The influence of family characteristics and social support on the students' suicidal ideation was investigated using multivariate unconditional logistic regression analysis. Results: Two thousand seven hundred valid questionnaires were collected, including 673 males (24.9%) and 2,027 females (75.1%), in this study. A total of 146 students (5.4%) showed suicidal ideation. Male respondents reported higher rates (7.9%) than females (4.6%). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that a higher risk level of residence before returning to school and lower objective support were the risk factors for suicidal ideation in males. In contrast, a higher level of maternal education, a poorer relationship with the mother, and lower scores for subjective support and support availability had significant effects on females' suicidal ideation. Limitations: This is a cross-sectional study, and lacks comparison to the time point unaffected by COVID-19. Moreover, it was limited by COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control restrictions, and the differences in returning to school in different regions. Only one college was investigated in this study, and all of the respondents were sophomores, so there may be some limitations in the representativeness of the sample and extrapolation of the results. Conclusion: Family characteristics and social support have had an important influence on suicidal ideation among students returning to school during the COVID-19 epidemic. Some gender differences were identified. - Abstract
Background and Purpose: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a major risk factor for coronary heart disease (CHD). Previous research has reported that the Fufang-Zhenzhu-Tiaozhi (FTZ) formula has obvious effects on the treatment of dyslipidemia and hyperglycemia. In the present study, we intended to establish a convenient DM-CHD model in minipigs and investigated the protective effect of FTZ against myocardial injury and its mechanism., Methods: The DM-CHD model was established by a high-fat/high-sucrose/high-cholesterol diet (HFSCD) combined with balloon injury in the coronary artery. Subsequently, sixteen Wuzhishan minipigs were assigned to three groups: control group, model group, and FTZ group. The model group and FTZ group were given a HFSCD, while the control group was given a normal diet (ND). FTZ was given with meals in the FTZ group. During this time, biochemical parameters, such as total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C), and fasting blood glucose (FBG), were measured by using testing kits. Insulin (INS) was determined by ELISA, and the homeostasis model assessment index of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) was calculated to evaluate insulin resistance levels. After FTZ administration, the plasma levels of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), creatine kinase isoenzyme MB (CK-MB), and cardiac troponin I (cTnI) were measured by using ELISA kits to evaluate myocardial injury. Coronary artery stenosis was analyzed by angiographic and HE staining. Myocardial ischemia was assayed with electrocardiogram (ECG). Moreover, cytokines, including interleukin-6 (IL-6), hypersensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), were measured by ELISA kits to assess inflammation. The myocardial tissue was collected, and the pathological morphology was observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), HE staining, and Masson staining. Western blots were used to detect the expression of PI3K, AKT, p-AKT, p-NF-κB, and NF-κB., Results: A DM-CHD model in minipigs with glucose-lipid metabolism disorder, coronary artery incrassation and myocardial damage was successfully established through balloon injury in the coronary artery combined with HFSCD. FTZ effectively inhibited coronary artery incrassation and protected the myocardium against injury in DM-CHD minipigs. FTZ decreased proinflammatory cytokine levels and upregulated the protein expression of the PI3K/Akt pathway in the myocardium., Conclusions: A novel DM-CHD model in minipigs was successfully established through balloon injury in the coronary artery combined with HFSCD. 24. [Characteristics of Phyllosphere and Rhizosphere Bacterial Communities in Bothriochloa ischaemum in Copper Tailings].

The phyllosphere and rhizosphere of plants and their living environment jointly form a complex ecosystem. Rhizosphere microorganisms are also the main driving force of the circulation of soil materials, which can provide a basis for the growth and development of plants. Phyllosphere and rhizosphere microorganisms can also be used as ecological indicators, and play significant roles in the ecological stability and recovery of mining areas. In this study, we selected a dominant species, Bothriochloa ischaemum , as the research object. We studied the characteristics of phyllosphere and rhizosphere bacterial communities in B. ischaemum from copper tailings with high-throughput sequencing methods. We explored the key ecological factors affecting the structure and diversity of phyllosphere and rhizosphere bacterial communities in B. ischaemum . The results showed that there were significant differences in the bacterial community structures between the rhizosphere and phyllosphere. The dominant phyllosphere bacterial genera of B. ischaemum included Pseudomonas , Enterobacter , and Sphingomonas . The dominant rhizosphere bacterial genera were Acidibacter and Solrubrobacter . Moreover, the Shannon diversity, abundance-based coverage estimator (ACE), and Chao1 indices of rhizosphere bacterial communities were significantly higher than those of phyllosphere communities. The key ecological factors affecting the dominant phyllosphere and rhizosphere bacterial genera included soil water content, pH, soil arsenic and zinc, total nitrogen, and sulfur of B. ischaemum , as well as plant cadmium and chromium. Furthermore, the Shannon diversity indices of rhizosphere bacterial communities were negatively correlated with root copper contents, and Simpson indices were positively correlated with root total nitrogen. There was a significant positive correlation between the ACE index and leaf total sculpture. These results provide a scientific basis for the exploration and utilization of phyllosphere and rhizosphere bacterial resources, and could improve the efficiency of ecological restoration in copper tailings.

Previous studies have indicated that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) were closely related to diabetes. In this study, we aimed to explore the possible role and mechanism of lncRNA MEG3 in the occurrence and development of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and its vascular complications. A case-control study involving 115 subjects was conducted, including 53 T2DM patients (37 patients with vascular complication and 16 patients without vascular complications) and 62 healthy subjects. We performed real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) analysis of the lncRNA MEG3 and miR-146a levels in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) in the 115 samples. We found that the expression of lncRNA MEG3 was upregulated in the T2DM patients with vascular complication (DC group) compared with T2DM patients without vascular complication (D group) (P < 0.05) and the control group (P < 0.01). miR-146a levels in DC group were significantly lower compared with control group. There was a significant positive correlation between the expression of lncRNA MEG3 and glucose (GLU) (r = 0.301, P = 0.0011) and hemoglobin A1C (HbA1c) (r = 0.477, P = 0.0006). Our study suggests MEG3 may play as an important role in progression of diabetes-related vascular complications, contributing to a novel understanding of pathogenesis and prognosis for diabetes and its complications.

26. Impact of Somatic Mutations in Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer: A Retrospective Study of a Chinese Cohort.

- Abstract
Background: Somatic mutations are important biomarkers for selecting an optimal targeted therapy and predicting outcomes for non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients that are often detected from tissue samples. However, tissue samples are not always readily available from these patients. The exploration of using circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) to identify somatic mutations offers an alternative source that should be explored., Methods: In this retrospective study, we included 280 patients diagnosed with adenocarcinoma between 2017 and 2018 in a hospital in eastern China. Tissue or ctDNA was collected, and a wide spectrum of somatic mutations was analyzed by targeted next-generation sequencing platforms. Associations among the mutation status, biomarkers, screening methods, disease stages, and interaction with treatment with overall survival (OS) were investigated., Results: We found that the EGFR L858R mutation was the most frequently identified mutation in adenocarcinoma in this population by both methods, followed by KRAS (p=3.7e-09), PIK3CA (p=5e-04), and HER2 mutations (p=6.3e-03). We observed that EGFR mutations were significantly mutually exclusive with KRAS, HER2, and MET. FGFR1 mutations were significantly more abundantly detected in the ctDNA group. We found an interaction effect between EGFR mutation and target therapies. The ability of the targeted therapy to improve OS in patients with a single EGFR mutation (HR=0.069, p=0.07) approached significance, but this was not the case for the patients with more than one EGFR mutation or without an EGFR mutation (HR=0.813, p=0.725). Methods: Anonymous network sampling survey was carried out with an electronic questionnaire that designed by the questionnaire star, and a total of 4 016 subjects from Anhui province were investigated. The content of the survey includes that the basic information of subjects,the residents' knowledge, attitudes and practice about COVID-19, as well as their satisfaction with the prevention and control measures adopted by the government and health authorities and the suggestions on future prevention. The questionnaire doesn't involve any privacy information, and all questions were mandatory to ensure the response rate. Results: The M ( P (25), P (75)) age the 4 016 subjects was 21 (19, 24) years old, and the ranging from 7 to 80 years old. The number of males was 1 431 (35.6%). Social networking tools such as WeChat and QQ were the main sources of epidemic information for residents (97.8%, 3 929 respondents). Residents had higher awareness rate of cough (99.5%, n= 3 997) and fever (96.0%, n= 3 857) symptoms, the transmission by droplets (99.5%, n= 3 995), aerosol transmission (81.1%, n= 3 258), and contact transmission (92.3%, n= 3 708), but lower awareness of symptoms os muscle pain or fatigue (62.7%, n= 2 518). 92.6% of the subjects ( n= 3 720) think that the outbreak was scary. In terms of psychological behavior scores, the results showed that female (9.38±4.81), the urban (9.37±5.02) and the medical workers (10.79±5.19) had a poorer mental health than the male (8.45±5.00), the rural (8.71±4.75) and the non-medical workers (the students: 8.85±4.83; public institude workers: 9.02±5.08; others: 8.97±5.39) ( P< 0.05). 71.9% of the residents ( n= 2 887) were satisfied with the local epidemic control measures. The residents took various of the measures to prevent and control the epidemic. The ratio of residents that could achieve "no gathering and less going out" , "wear masks when going out " and " do not go to crowded and closed places " was up to 97.4% ( n= 3 913), 93.6% ( n= 3 758) and 91.5% ( n= 3 673) respectively. Conclusion: The residents in Anhui province have a good KAP about COVID-19, yet it is necessary to strengthen the community publicity, the mental health maintenance of residents and students' health education.

- Abstract
Hyperlipidemia is a common metabolic disorder and one of risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Clinical studies have shown that hyperlipidemia increases the risk of non-ischemic heart failure, while decreasing serum lipids can reverse heart dysfunction. Apart from indirectly affecting the function of the heart by promoting the development of atherosclerosis, hyperlipidemia also affects the systolic function and cardiac electrophysiological response of the heart directly, which may be related to gradual accumulation of cardiac lipids and consequent systemic oxidative stress, proinflammatory state and mitochondrial dysfunction. However, the mechanism underlying direct effects of hyperlipidemia on the heart are not fully understood. In this review, we provide an updated summary of recent experimental and clinical studies that focus on elucidating the mechanisms of the action of hyperlipidemia on cardiac function, the relationship between heart failure and serum lipids, and protective effects of lipid-lowering drugs on the heart. The exciting progress in this field supports the prospect of guiding early protection of the heart to benefit the patients with chronic hyperlipidemia and familial hyperlipidemia.

- Abstract
Novel fatty acid-bile acid conjugates (1a-1k) were designed and synthesized by coupling of the fatty acids to the 3-OH of bile acids using lysine for linkage. In the conjugates, the 24-COOH of the bile acids was kept intact to preserve liver-specific recognition. The ability of the newly synthesized conjugates (at 100 mg/kg dosage) to reduce total cholesterol (TC) and triglyceride (TG) levels in mice fed with high-fat diet (HFD) was evaluated. Conjugates of stearic acid with cholic acid and palmitic acid with ursodeoxycholic acid (at dosages of 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg) were further evaluated to determine their ability to reduce aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), TC, and TG levels in mice fed with HFD. All conjugates showed potent hypolipidemic activity. Further investigation revealed that compounds 1c and 1 g not only dose-dependently reduced serum levels of TC and TG, but also inhibited the elevation of serum AST and ALT levels in mice fed with HFD. Thus, compounds 1c and 1 g are promising hypolipidemic agents with hepatocyte protective effects against HFD-induced liver damage.

- Abstract
Background: Femtosecond laser-assisted LASIK (FS-LASIK) can make ultra-thin corneal flap accurately. MEL 90 excimer laser provides Triple-A ablation mode, which significantly reduces the amount of corneal tissue cutting. This study aimed to investigate the visual and refractive outcomes in patients with high myopia after thin-flap FS-LASIK using the 500 Hz pulse rate of the Triple-A profile., Methods: This prospective study included 90 eyes from 90 patients received thin-flap FS-LASIK using the 500 Hz pulse rate of the Triple-A profile. According to the pre-operative spherical equivalence (SE), the treated eyes were divided into two groups: the first group (ranged from - 9.0D to - 6.0D) and the second group (ranged from - 11.15D to - 9.0 D). The parameters evaluated pre-operatively and 6 month post-operatively included uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA), corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA), SE, efficacy and safety index, posterior central elevation, and corneal higher-order aberrations (HOAs)., Results: The efficacy indexes were 1.149 ± 0.150 for the first group and 1.173 ± 0.136 for the second group (P > 0.05), whereas safety indexes were 1.135 ± 0.154 and 1.158 ± 0.137 (P > 0.05) respectively. Moreover, 93.8 and 90.6% of patients had an UDVA of 20/20, 51.2 and 49.8% had a UDVA of 20/16 for the first and second groups, respectively; yet, there were no significant differences between both groups at the 20/20 and the 20/16 levels (P > 0.05). 84 and 100% of the firse group patients had a SE within ±0.5 D and ± 1.0 D, and 82 and 100% of the second group patients. There was no significant myopia regression in both groups after 6 months follow-up. At 1, 3 and 6-month after surgery, there were no significant differences in the posterior central elevation between the two groups (P > 0.05). The induction of total HOAs, spherical aberration, and horizontal coma in the first group were significantly less than that in the second group at the 6- month follow-up (P < 0.05), while the differences of the RMS value of vertical coma between both groups were not significant (P > 0.05). The ablation was significantly associated with the post-operative increase in total HOAs, spherical aberration and horizontal coma (P < 0.05),but not with vertical coma (P > 0.05)., Conclusion: Our results indicate that using the Triple-A ablation profile of the MEL 90 excimer laser associated with thin-flap is a safe, efficient, and predictable method to correct SE up to - 11.15D. However, for patients with high myopia, under the premise of ensuring a certain optical zone diameter, the ablation depth should be minimized to reduce the increase of the post-operative HOAs so as to improve the visual quality.

The first example of the synthesis of mono-N,O-B-chelated dipyrromethene (BODIPY) derivatives through an unexpected intramolecular nucleophilic displacement of the fluorine by alkenols in the presence of boron trifluoride as Lewis acid is reported. The chlorine in the indacene core allowed for further structural modifications through nucleophilic substitutions or palladium-catalysed coupling reactions to afford new fluorophores with tuneable photophysical properties. Their expanded conjugation structure resulted in distinct red-shifted absorption and emission spectra in organic solutions. Furthermore, the twisted steric hindrance of the benzene substitution patterns suppressed aggregation-induced quenching, leading to an enhanced NIR emission in the aggregate/solid state, which was rarely observed for BODIPY dyes. Nanoparticles of the fluorophores formed by the assembly with the polymeric surfactant F127 were successfully used for bioimaging of living cells and for tumour-targeted imaging in a tumour-bearing mouse model., (© 2018 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. BACKGROUND WD40-encoding RNA antisense to p53 (Wrap53) has been implicated in cancer development. However, the role of Wrap53 remains unknown in colorectal cancer. The aim of this study was to elucidate the function of Wrap53 in colorectal cancer tumorigenesis and development. MATERIAL AND METHODS This study analyzed Wrap53 expression in colorectal cancer tissue specimens using The Cancer Genome Atlas data and tumor cell lines and assessed the effects of Wrap53 knockdown on regulation of cancer cell malignant phenotypes in vitro and in nude mouse xenografts. RESULTS Wrap53 expression was upregulated in colorectal cancer tissue specimens and cell lines. Knockdown of Wrap53 expression induced colorectal cancer cell line apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in the G1 phase, but reduced tumor cell line proliferation and invasion in vitro. Knockdown of Wrap53 in a nude mouse xenograft assay inhibited tumor cell line xenograft formation and growth. CONCLUSIONS Wrap53 is likely a potential oncogene or possesses oncogenic activity in colorectal cancer, promoting colorectal tumorigenesis. Targeting Wrap53 expression may represent a novel strategy for the control of colorectal cancer.

- Abstract
A 14-year-old female (social gender) patient was admitted to the hospital due to severe hypertension for 11 days. The patient had primary amenorrhea. The blood pressure was 146/90 mm Hg. The skin color was slightly black. The development of secondary sexual characteristics was poor. The labia majora could be observed in the vulva. However, the labia minora, clitoris, vagina, and hymen were absent. The levels of renin, cortisol, and sex hormone were low, while the levels of adrenocorticotropic hormone and gonadotropin were high. The levels of blood potassium and aldosterone were both normal. Radiography indicated retardation of bone age. Ultrasound examination revealed that the ovary and uterus were both absent. The patient had bilateral adrenal hyperplasia and cryptorchid testes located in both inguinal canals. The patient had a 46,XY karyotype. Whole genome sequencing revealed two homozygous mutations, c.985T>C and c.987delC, in exon 6 of the CYP17A1 gene of the patient and heterozygous mutations in the same sites of the parents. The patient was diagnosed with congenital adrenal hyperplasia-17α-hydroxylase deficiency. After treatment with hydrocortisone for 2 months, blood pressure returned to normal and the level of adrenocorticotropic hormone was reduced. According to the request of the patient and the parents, hydrocortisone was replaced with estrogen to allow the patient to live as a female. The patient also received surgical excision of cryptorchid testes to prevent gonadal malignancy. It is concluded that in the differential diagnosis of pediatric hypertension, sexual development should be considered and the levels of adrenocorticotropic hormone and cortisol should be evaluated. The rare disease 17α-hydroxylase deficiency should be considered for patients with low-renin hypertension and gonadal dysgenesis.

Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the expression profile of tumour necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) in patients with diabetic nephropathy (DN)., Methods: A total of 126 Chinese subjects were enrolled in this study, including 42 patients with diabetes mellitus (DM), 42 patients with DN and 42 healthy controls. Real-time polymerase chain reaction was performed to analyze levels of TRAIL mRNA in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). Serum levels of soluble TRAIL (sTRAIL) and various cytokines were detected with a commercially available enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kit., Results: Compared with the control group, the levels of TRAIL mRNA in PBMCs and sTRAIL in sera were both significantly decreased in the DM and DN patients ( P < 0.05). Conversely, levels of interleukin (IL)-1, IL-6, tumour necrosis factor-α and monocyte chemotactic protein-1 were higher in the DN group than in the control group. Serum levels of TRAIL positively correlated with TRAIL mRNA levels in all of the subjects examined ( P < 0.05)., Conclusions: These results provide support and a theoretical basis for further research of TRAIL in regard to the pathogenesis of DN.

38. Internet addiction detection rate among college students in the People's Republic of China: a meta-analysis.

Background: With the development of economy and technology, the Internet is becoming more and more popular. Internet addiction has gradually become a serious issue in public health worldwide. The number of Internet users in China has reached 731 million, with an estimated 24 million adolescents determined as having Internet addiction. In this meta-analysis, we attempted to estimate the prevalence of Internet addiction among College Students in the People's Republic of China in order to improve the mental health level of college students and provide evidence for the prevention of Internet addiction., Methods: Eligible articles about the prevalence of Internet addiction among college students in China published between 2006 and 2017 were retrieved from online Chinese periodicals, the full-text databases of Wan Fang, VIP, and the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure, as well as PubMed. Stata 11.0 was used to perform the analyses., Results: A total of 26 papers were included in the analyses. The overall sample size was 38,245, with 4573 diagnosed with Internet addiction. The pooled detection rate of Internet addiction was 11% (95% confidence interval [CI] 9-13%) among college students in China. The detection rate was higher in male students (16%) than female students (8%). The Internet addiction detection rate was 11% (95% CI 8-14%) in southern areas, 11% (95% CI 7-14%) in northern areas, 13% (95% CI 8-18%) in eastern areas and 9% (95% CI 8-11%) in the mid-western areas. According to different scales, the Internet addiction detection rate was 11% (95% CI 8-15%) using the Young scale and 9% (95% CI 6-11%) using the Chen scale respectively. Cumulative meta analysis showed that the detection rate had a slight upward trend and gradually stabilized in the last 3 years., Conclusion: The pooled Internet addiction detection rate of Chinese college students in out study was 11%, which is higher than in some other countries and strongly demonstrates a worrisome situation. Effective measures should be taken to prevent further Internet addiction and improve the current situation.

39. CRM1, a novel independent prognostic factor overexpressed in invasive breast carcinoma of poor prognosis.

- Abstract
Breast cancer (BC) is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in females globally and is more aggressive at later stages. Chromosome region maintenance 1 (CRM1) is involved in the nuclear export of proteins and RNAs and has been associated with a number of malignancies. However, the clinicopathological significance of its expression in BC remains to be elucidated therefore this was investigated in the present study. CRM1 expression in 280 breast cancer tissues and 60 normal tissues was retrospectively analyzed using immunohistochemistry (IHC) and western blotting. IHC investigation demonstrated that CRM1 expression was significantly increased in BC compared with the normal breast epithelium (P<0.0001). Overexpression of CRM1 was markedly associated with poor prognostic characteristics, including larger tumor size (P=0.024), positive lymph node metastasis (P=0.032), invasive histological type (P=0.004) and distant metastasis (P=0.026). Significant associations were also observed between increased CRM1 expression and the progesterone receptor (P=0.028) and Ki67 (P=0.019). Kaplan-Meier survival analysis demonstrated that patients with high CRM1 expression exhibited a reduced disease-free survival and overall survival compared with those with low CRM1 expression (P=0.013). In the multivariate analysis, CRM1 expression (P=0.011), tumor size (P=0.001) and lymph node metastasis (P<0.001) were independent prognostic markers of BC. In conclusion, CRM1 serves an important role in BC and may serve as a predictive and prognostic factor for a poor outcome in patients with BC.

Objective: The results of studies on the association between tumor necrosis factor-a -308G/A (TNF-a -308G/A) polymorphism, and susceptibility to essential hypertension are controversial. To derive a more precise estimation, we conducted a meta-analysis of all similar articles., Methods: The summary effect odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals were obtained. Funnel plots and Egger's test were used to estimate publication bias, and heterogeneity was assessed by the chi-square-based Q-test and I
2 test., Results: Nine studies (with 1437 cases and 1487 controls) were included. In the overall analysis, the combined results showed that there were significant differences in genotype distribution between essential hypertension cases and controls, AA+GA versus GG (OR = 1.53, 95% CI: 1.25-1.88, p < 0.00001). In the stratified analysis by country, we found that essential hypertension cases had a significantly higher frequency of AA+GA versus GG (OR = 1.47, 95% CI: 1.18-1.81, p = 0.0004) than control in the Asian population., Conclusions: This meta-analysis supports previous findings that TNF-a -308G/A polymorphism may increase the risk of essential hypertension, at least in the Asian population.- Published

Background: Atrial myxoma accounts for approximately 50% of all cardiac tumors. The majority of myxomas are located in the left atrium and present variable clinical manifestation., Case Presentation: A young man was transferred to our hospital with sudden onset of resting pain, pallor and numb in right leg. An atrial mobile mass was detected by transthoracic echocardiography. Anticoagulant and antithrombotic therapy were administered, a timely surgery was performed and the mass was confirmed as a myxoma. The patient did not discharge any discomfort post-operation., Conclusion: For patients with atrial myxoma, early diagnosis is essential, anticoagulant or antithrombotic therapy and surgery have a great importance to prevent further embolism.

42. Influences of the Three Gorges Project on seismic activities in the reservoir area.

- Abstract
Reservoir-induced earthquakes related with the construction of the Three Gorges Project have attracted great concerns of the public. Since the first water impoundment on May 25, 2003, a number of earthquakes have occurred during the water storage stages, in which the largest was the Badong M5.1 earthquake on December 16, 2013. In this paper, the relationships between seismic activities, b value, seismic parameters, and reservoir water level fluctuations are studied. In addition, based on the digital seismic waveform data obtained since 2000, the focal depth changes and focal mechanism characteristics before and after the water impoundment are studied as well. These provide us important information to understand the earthquake mechanisms. The results show that these earthquakes are typical reservoir-induced earthquakes, which are closely related to water infiltration, pore pressure, and water level fluctuations. The majority of the micro and small earthquakes are caused by karst collapse, mine collapse, bank reformation, superficial unloading, and so on. The larger earthquakes are related to the fault structures to some extent. Due to the persistent effects of water impoundment on the seismic and geological environments around the reservoir and water infiltration into the rocks, the influences on the crustal deformation field, gravity field, seepage field, and fault medium-softening action may vary gradually from a higher strength to a weaker one. Therefore, it is possible that small earthquakes and few medium earthquakes (M≤5.5) will occur in the reservoir area in the future., (Copyright © 2017 Science China Press. Published by Elsevier B.V. 43. IP3R and RyR calcium channels are involved in neonatal rat cardiac myocyte hypertrophy induced by tumor necrosis factor-α.

- Abstract
To investigate which calcium channels are involved in cardiac myocyte hypertrophy induced by TNF-α, cultured cardiomyocytes were treated with 100 μg/L TNF-α. In addition, three different calcium channel blockers (2-APB, ryanodine and nifedipine) were used, and the effects of each calcium channel blocker on cardiac hypertrophy induced by TNF-α were carefully observed. Measurements included cytosolic calcium transients ([Ca
2+ ]i), the level of intracellular calcium in individual cells, cell protein content, cell protein synthesis and cell volume. We found that the IP3R inhibitor (2-APB) and RyR inhibitor (ryanodine) both had significant suppressive effects on the level of [Ca2+ ]i, calcium concentration, cell protein content, cell protein synthesis and cell volume of cardiomyocytes treated with TNF-α (P<0.01). Moreover, their combined effects were significantly enhanced compared with their single effects (P<0.01). However, the inhibitor of the L type Ca2+ channel nifedipine exhibited no significant suppressive effects on the increase in [Ca2+ ]i, calcium concentration, cell protein content, cell protein synthesis and cell volume of cardiomyocytes induced by TNF-α (P>0.05). Our results suggest that TNF-α probably induces cardiac myocyte hypertrophy by activating IP3R and RyR calcium channels, which control the release of calcium ions from the sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR) in cardiomyocytes. On the other hand, extracellular calcium influx, which is mainly regulated by the L type Ca2+ channel, may not be involved in cardiac myocyte hypertrophy induced by TNF-α.- Published

- Abstract
The association between TGF-β1 polymorphisms and asthma risk has been widely reported, but results were controversial. We performed this meta-analysis based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and meta-analyses statement (PRISMA). Electronic database of Pub Med, Web of Science, CBM, and CNKI were searched for eligible articles published up to September, 2013. The effect summary odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence intervals were obtained. Finally, a total of 20 articles were identified, 17 studies with 3694 cases and 5613 controls for C-509T polymorphism, 7 studies with 1109 cases and 1098 controls for T869C polymorphism and 5 studies with 849 cases and 829 controls for G915C polymorphism. For C-509T, significant associations with asthma were found in Asians (TT+TC vs. CC: P=0.004, OR=1.43, 95%CI=1.12-1.81, P
heterogeneity =0.001) and in Caucasians (P=0.05, OR=1.16, 95%CI=1.00-1.34, Pheterogeneity =0.36). With respect to T869C, a small significant association was observed in overall analysis of allele contrasts(C vs. T: OR=1.14, 95%CI: 1.01-1.29, P=0.03) and homozygote comparison (CC vs. TT: OR=1.29, 95%CI: 1.00-1.65, P=0.05), but no significant risks were found among Caucasian population and Asian population. For G915C polymorphism, no significant association with asthma risk was demonstrated in overall analysis and subgroup analyses according to ethnicity for all genetic models. - Abstract
Top-down force is referred to arthropod pest management delivered by the organisms from higher trophic levels. In the context of prevalent adoption of transgenic Bt crops that produce insecticidal Cry proteins derived from Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt), it still remains elusive whether the top-down forces are affected by the insect-resistant traits that introduced into the Bt crops. We explored how Bt cotton affect the strength of top-down forces via arthropod natural enemies in regulating a non-target pest species, the cotton aphid Aphis gossypii Glover, using a comparative approach (i.e. Bt cotton vs. conventional cotton) under field conditions. To determine top-down forces, we manipulated predation/parasitism exposure of the aphid to their natural enemies using exclusion cages. We found that the aphid population growth was strongly suppressed by the dominant natural enemies including Coccinellids, spiders and Aphidiines parasitoids. Coccinellids, spiders and the assemblage of other arthropod natural enemies (mainly lacewings and Hemipteran bugs) are similarly abundant in both plots, but with the parasitoid mummies less abundant in Bt cotton plots compared to the conventional cotton plots. However, the lower abundance of parasitoids in Bt cotton plots alone did not translate into differential top-down control on A. gossypii populations compared to conventional ones. Overall, the top-down forces were equally strong in both plots. We conclude that transgenic Bt cotton does not disrupt the top-down forces regulating the cotton aphid in central China., Competing Interests: The authors have declared that no competing interests exist.

- Abstract
Mosapride, a gastrointestinal prokinetic drug, is an agonist of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) receptor 4 that also reduces blood glucose. Whether 5-HT4 receptor is distributed in pancreatic islets and whether mosapride can directly stimulate insulin secretion is unclear. In the present study, the protein expression and cellular location of 5-HT4 receptor in pancreas was detected through western blotting and immunofluorescence. The acute effects of 5-HT4 receptor agonists, mosapride and prucalopride, on insulin secretion were investigated in vivo and in vitro in normal and alloxan-induced diabetes rats. The results indicated that 5-HT4 receptor immunoreactivity was co-existed in the islets insulin-immunoreactive cells of rat, mouse, pig and human. However the immunoreactive cells of insulin and 5-HT4 receptor and the protein expression of 5-HT4 receptor were significantly decreased in the pancreas of alloxan-induced diabetes rats. In normal rats, mosapride and prucalopride decreased blood glucose and increased insulin secretion during glucose tolerance test, in association with an increase in glucose-stimulated insulin secretion, which was abolished by the 5-HT4 receptor antagonist GR113808. In diabetes rats, mosapride and prucalopride failed to improve blood glucose and insulin levels in the group of 180mg/kg alloxan, but increased glucose-stimulated insulin secretion in the group of 120mg/kg alloxan in vitro. We conclude that 5-HT4 receptor is distributed in the islet β cell. Activation of 5-HT4 receptor is able to stimulate insulin secretion directly, thereby reduce blood glucose. 47. Field Measurements and Numerical Simulations of Temperature and Moisture in Highway Engineering Using a Frequency Domain Reflectometry Sensor.

- Abstract
This paper presents a systematic pioneering study on the use of agricultural-purpose frequency domain reflectometry (FDR) sensors to monitor temperature and moisture of a subgrade in highway extension and reconstruction engineering. The principle of agricultural-purpose FDR sensors and the process for embedding this kind of sensors for subgrade engineering purposes are introduced. Based on field measured weather data, a numerical analysis model for temperature and moisture content in the subgrade's soil is built. Comparisons of the temperature and moisture data obtained from numerical simulation and FDR-based measurements are conducted. The results show that: (1) the embedding method and process, data acquisition, and remote transmission presented are reasonable; (2) the temperature and moisture changes are coordinated with the atmospheric environment and they are also in close agreement with numerical calculations; (3) the change laws of both are consistent at positions where the subgrade is compacted uniformly. These results suggest that the data measured by the agricultural-purpose FDR sensors are reliable. The findings of this paper enable a new and effective real-time monitoring method for a subgrade's temperature and moisture changes, and thus broaden the application of agricultural-purpose FDR sensors.

- Abstract
Natural Cordyceps sinensis(Dongchongxiacao) is an insect-fungi complex containing multiple Ophiocordyceps sinensis(≡Cordyceps sinensis) fungi and dead body of larva of the family of Hepialidae. But natural C. sinensis and O. sinensis fungi use the same Latin name, resulting in uncertainty of the specific meaning, even disturbing the formulation and implementation of governmental policies and regulations, and influencing consumer psychology onthe market. This paper reviews the history and current status of the indiscriminate use of the Latin name O. sinensis for both the natural insect-fungi complex C. sinensis and O. sinensis fungi and lists the rename suggetions. Some scholars suggested using the term O. sinensis for the fungi and renaming the natural C. sinensis "Chinese cordyceps". Others suggested renaming the natural C. sinensis "Ophiocordyceps & Hepialidae". Both suggestions have not reached general consensus due to various academic concerns. This paper also reviews the exacerbation of the academic uncertainties when forcing implementing the 2011 Amsterdam Declaration "One Fungus=One Name" under the academic debate. - Abstract
Background: Heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) is known to be downstream of human epidermal growth factor receptor-2 (ERBB2), but little is known regarding the relationship between HSP70 and drug resistance mediated by ERBB2 in breast cancer., Materials and Methods: After infecting breast cancer cells with lentivirus-mediated Lenti-ShHSP70 and Lenti-ShERBB2, we examined the expression of HSP70 and ERBB2 by real-time polymerase chain reaction and western blotting., Results: Compared to the control groups, mRNA expression of HSP70 was decreased in lentivirus-infected, and western blotting indicated a concordant reduction of HSP70 protein. On the other hand, ERBB2 was significantly down-regulated by HSP70 silencing in SK-BR-3 cells at both the mRNA and protein levels. Expression of HSP70 in transfected cells was also reduced by Lenti-ShERBB2. CCK8 viability assay indicated that inhibition of HSP70 increased the sensitivity of SK-BR-3 cells to fluorouracil treatment., Conclusion: HSP70 affects ERBB2 and ERBB2-mediated drug-resistance in breast cancer cells., (Copyright© 2016 International Institute of Anticancer Research (Dr. John G. 50. DNA hypermethylation of the vimentin gene inversely correlates with vimentin expression in intestinal- and diffuse-type gastric cancer.

- Abstract
The vimentin gene is a hallmark of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition and has been observed to be overexpressed in various types of tumor cell line and tissue. Previous studies have reported correlations between vimentin DNA methylation levels and subsequent vimentin expression levels in solid tumors, including breast and colorectal cancer; however, to the best of our knowledge, such a correlation has not been reported for gastric cancer (GC) using Lauren classification. Therefore, the present study aimed to quantify DNA methylation levels of the vimentin gene using quantitative (q) methylation-specific polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in intestinal-type GC cell lines (MKN-28, AGS and MKN-1), diffuse-type GC cell lines (SGC-7901, SNU-5 and KATO III), the GES-1 immortalized human non-neoplastic gastric epithelial cell line, as well as in tumor and paratumor normal tissue samples. Furthermore, the present study analyzed the messenger RNA expression of the vimentin gene in these cell lines and tissues by reverse transcription-qPCR. A comparison of the clinicopathological features was conducted between patients, grouped according to the Lauren classification. The present study identified that the vimentin promoter region was hypermethylated in all GC cell lines and tumor tissue samples when compared with immortalized normal gastric epithelial cells and paratumor normal tissues. In addition, vimentin promoter methylation levels were observed to be higher in intestinal-type cell lines when compared with those of diffuse-type lines and tissues. Correspondingly, vimentin expression levels were lower in intestinal-type gastric cell lines compared with those of diffuse-type cell lines and tissues, and were lowest in the non-neoplastic gastric cell line and paratumor normal tissues. Patients with diffuse-type GC were on average younger (P=0.023), and exhibited higher tumor (P=0.020), node (P=0.032) and TNM classification of malignant tumor stage (P=0.039) than those with intestinal-type GC. Following treatment of AGS cells (which demonstrated the highest methylation level of the vimentin gene) with 5-aza-2'-deoxycytidine, vimentin expression was restored significantly. Thus, the present study revealed that vimentin promoter methylation levels are inversely correlated with vimentin expression levels in GC (according to Lauren classification). High levels of methylation in the vimentin gene promoter region may be involved in carcinogenesis and the development of GC, and may provide a novel molecular classification for GC.
