Abstract

Carbon/carbon composites with densities of 1.72-1.73 g/cm3 were fabricated by film boiling chemical vapor infiltration of a needle-pierced preform using xylene as a carbon precursor and LaCl3 as a catalyst, followed by resin impregnation and graphitization. The effects of the catalyst content on the thermal conduction and tribological properties of the composites were investigated by SEM, thermal tests with a laser flash instrument, and friction tests. Results showed that the thermal conductivities in the through thickness and in-plane directions, the friction coefficient, and the wear rate all had maxima at 6 wt% for LaCl3 contents from 0 to 15 wt%. The maximum thermal conductivities were about 58.5 and 75.6% higher than those of the composites without a catalyst in the through thickness and in-plane directions, respectively. A smooth friction film was most easily formed on the friction surface of the composite fabricated with a 6 wt% catalyst content, resulting in the lowest coefficient of friction and wear rate as well as the highest braking stability.

Abstract

This paper analyzed the reliability and put forward the reliability index of overload protection for moulded case circuit breaker. The success rate was adopted as its reliability index of overload protection. Based on the reliability index and the reliability level, the reliability examination plan was analyzed and a test device for the overload protection of moulded case circuit-breaker was developed. In the reliability test of overload protection, two power sources were used, which reduced the time of conversion and regulation between two different test currents in the loverload protection test, which made the characteristic test more accurate. The test device was designed on the base of a Windows system, which made its operation simple and friendly.

33. Asymmetric conjugated addition of aryl Grignard reagents for the construction of chromanones bearing quaternary stereogenic centers in batch and flow

Abstract

The asymmetric conjugate additions of aryl Grignard reagents to trisubstituted enones by chiral P,N ligand L6 with low catalyst loading (0.25-1.0 mol%) are disclosed. Chiral 2-ester chromanone and its analogs bearing a quaternary stereogenic centers at C2 position were produced in high to excellent yields, enantioselectivities and high turnover number. The notable features of this reaction include its broad substrate scope, complete 1,4-addition regioselectivities, applicability to both batch and flow for large scale synthesis. This report develops an efficient strategy to apply aryl Grignard reagents in asymmetric 1,4-conjugation reactions and provides a direct method to incorporate quaternary chiral centers toward the synthesis of biologically relevant chromanone derivatives.

36. Yeast Surface Display of Antheraea pernyiLysozyme Revealed α-Helical Antibacterial Peptides in Its N-Terminal Domain

Abstract

The present study investigated a novel lysozyme ApLyz from the Chinese oak silkmoth, Antheraea pernyi, for its active expression with N- or C-terminus fused to the yeast cell surface, and the antimicrobial activities of the corresponding expressed lysozymes were evaluated. The bactericidal activity of C-terminal fusion of ApLyz surpassed that of the N-terminal fusion, which revealed the implication of an N-terminal stretch of ApLyz in the bactericidal function based on the structural mobility of this region. Two N-terminal peptides of ApLyz (residues 1–15 and 1–32), which primarily consist of amphiphilic α-helices, exerted similar bactericidal efficacy and had a strong preference for the Gram-negative strains. Further investigation revealed that the N-terminal peptides are membrane-targeting peptides causing cell permeabilization and also possess nonmembrane disturbing bactericidal mechanism. Overall, in addition to the key findings of novel bactericidal peptides from silkmoth lysozyme, this work laid the foundation for future improvement of ApLyz by protein engineering.

Abstract

Using sodium citrate as reducing agent, different sizes of gold nanoparticles(GN) were prepared, and were modified by platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) aptamer to obtain stable aptamer-nanogold probes (Apt-GN). The probe specifically combined with PDGF-AA to form Apt-GN-PDGF-AA clusters that exhibited a resonance Rayleigh scattering (RRS) peak at 550 nm. The RRS intensity ΔI550nm was linear to the PDGF-AA concentration in the range of 0.33-40 ng/ml. The probe has strong catalysis of the Fehling reagent-glucose Cu2O particle reaction that can be monitored by RRS technique at 610 nm, but the cluster is very weak. When PDGF-AA concentration increased, the Apt-GN decreased, and the RRS intensity at 610 nm decreased. The decreased RRS intensity ΔI610nm was linear to PDGF-AA concentration in the range of 0.03-26.67 ng/mL. Accordingly, two new aptamer-nanogold RRS methods were established.

Abstract

Background: Cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) is an important precursor of cervical cancer. Early detection and treatment can reduce the incidence of cervical cancer., Aim: To investigate the detection rate of human papillomavirus (HPV) E6/E7 mRNA in cervical tissue of patients with different types of epithelial cell neoplasia (CIN) and its relationship with CIN progression and diagnosis., Methods: One hundred women with HPV infection detected by cervical exfoliation cytology between January 2022 and January 2023 were retrospectively selected. These patients were graded CIN based on colposcopy and cervical pathology. The positive expression rates of HPV E6/E7 mRNA and HPV [polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-reverse dot crossing] were compared among all groups. Patients with HPV E6/E7 mRNA expression in the grade 1 CIN group were followed up for 1 yr. The relationship between atypical squamous epithelium and high malignant epithelial neoplasia was investigated by univariate and multivariate analysis., Results: The diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, and sensitivity of PCR-reverse point hybridization technology for secondary CIN were 70.41%, 70.66%, and 0.714, respectively. Sensitivity and specificity for secondary CIN were 752% and 7853%, respectively, the area under the curve value was 0.789. Logistic Multifactorial model analysis revealed that the HPV positive rates and the HPV E6/E7 mRNA positive rates were independent risk factors of CIN grade I ( P < 0.05). In CIN grade I patients with positive for HPV E6/E7 mRNA, in its orientation to grade CIN patients, in its orientation to grade CIN patients, at 69.2%, compared with patients negative for HPV E6/E7 mRNA (30.8%), significant difference ( P < 0.05)., Conclusion: HPV E6/E7 mRNA and HPV (PCR-reverse dot hybrid) positive expression have a close relationship with CIN-grade disease progression and is an independent risk factor for high-grade CIN lesions., Competing Interests: Conflict-of-interest statement: The authors declared no conflict of interest existing in this paper., (©The Author(s) 2024.
