Developing nationalism character among the digital native generation in Indonesia has been one of the national goals, especially to educate the nation's life through formal education. To realise these goals, teachers become the spearhead to grow this character within students. However, most teachers find it difficult to deal with since they have low teacher competencies. This study aims at revealing teachers' challenges and strategies in building the nationalism character among the digital native generation through formal education. This study employed a qualitative approach with the type of library research. The data collection technique was document studies, while the data analysis used content analysis. The study results showed that: (1) Indonesian teachers still have low mastery of the teacher competencies (pedagogic, professional, social, and personal aspects). They also perform monotonous learning methods and rarely use digital-based learning media; and (2) the strategies to build the nationalism character among the digital native generation era are through teacher competencies mastery, effective learning tools, varied learning methods and integration of the digital-based learning media.

The research aimed to know the effectiveness of problem-based learning combined with local wisdom in Acehnese called Hukum Adat Laot. The local wisdom is oriented to socio-scientific issues to improving conceptual knowledge and environmental literacy. This study adopted a quasi-experimental with pretest-posttest control group design. In the experimental class, treatment was given using the problem-based learning model with local wisdom oriented to socio-scientific issues. In contrast, the control class was given by applying traditional learning. The population used in this study were all high school students in Aceh Besar, Indonesia. A cluster sampling technique is applied to obtain 54 students from the 2019/2020 academic year as samples. Data collection uses a test instrument conceptual knowledge and environmental literacy validated based on the Aiken index. Meanwhile, the instrument reliability is determined based on Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The data were analyzed by using Manova. The results indicate significant differences in the mean scores of the results related to conceptual knowledge and environmental literacy. The conclusion states that applying problem-based learning with local wisdom oriented to socio-scientific issues significantly impacts students' conceptual knowledge and environmental literacy.

The aim of the research was to determine the effectivity of implementation of e-learning science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (E-STEM) project-based learning model in teaching science to improve information, communication, and technology (ICT) literacy and problem solving. The study adopted quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design. E-STEM project-based learning model was applied in experimental classroom, while the control classroom applied conventional teaching. The sample was 46 students who was selected using cluster sampling method. They were in grade VIII academic year 2020/2021 which representing the population students of Junior High School 8, in Aceh Besar, Indonesia. The data were collected using test instrument and questionnaires. Validity verification of instrument measured based on Aiken index, while instrument reliability was determined based on Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The data were analyzed using Manova and descriptive quantitative. The result of the study showed that there is meaningful difference of ICT literacy and problem solving mean score based on the difference of both teaching approach. It is concluded that the implementation of E-STEM project-based learning model and problem solving in teaching science has significant impact in increasing ICT literacy and problem solving.

This study aims to discover the effectiveness of the blended learning model in mathematics learning to improve the achievement of mathematical concepts. This study employed a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group. The experimental class was taught through blended learning, while the control class was taught through the conventional learning model. The population of this study was the students at State Senior High School 1 Sewon Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The research sample involved 60 tenth-grade students in the 2019/2020 academic year, 30 students in each of the experimental and control groups. The sampling technique used cluster sampling and the data were collected using a test instrument. The validity of the test was measured using the obtained Aiken index (0.80), and the reliability was based on the Cronbach's alpha coefficient (0.86). The data were analyzed using t-tests and descriptive statistics. The results of this study showed that the blended learning model is significantly more effective than the conventional learning model in enhancing students' achievement of mathematical concepts. This means that the application of blended learning in mathematics learning can significantly improve students' achievement of mathematical concepts.

This study aims to analyze the implementation of holistic education and determining its supporting and hindering factors at a boarding high school in Malang, Indonesia. The method of this research is qualitative descriptive with a case study approach in the State Senior High School 10 Malang, Indonesia. The data collection technique was done through interviews and observations. The data analysis employed data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions making. The results showed that holistic education in the State Senior High School 10 Malang included the academic, leadership program, extracurricular, youth entrepreneurship, and environment caring programs. The supporting factors of the holistic education were curriculum, professional teachers, principal leadership, learning process, facilities and infrastructure, school management, three educational centers, and school culture. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors included the low number of boarding teachers and the high operational costs. The results suggest that all schools should provide equal access to qualified education services to the whole nation through holistic education programs to produce intelligent and competitive students.

This research was aimed at analyzing (1) the effectiveness of the three levels of inquiry (structured, guided and free inquiry) to improve the students' scientific reasoning skills compared to the conventional method; (2) the implementation of the three levels of inquiry. This study can be categorized as quasi-experimental with pre-test posttest non-equivalent control group design. The research sample consisted of 76 students of the Biology Education Study Program in State Islamic University of Sunan Kalijaga, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The data were collected by using scientific reasoning test and an observation sheet. The data were analyzed with the independent sample t-test. The research results indicated that the three levels of inquiry were more effective than the conventional method in improving the students' scientific reasoning skills in the aspects of analyzing, evaluating, and creating. The quality of three levels of inquiry can be categorized as very good. It urges biology lecturers to have a comprehensive understanding of the hierarchical nature and its relationship to various pedagogical practices to employ investigation process during the science learning process.

The purpose of this research is to develop measurement instrument of scientific reasoning tests for biology education students. The research method used the development stage of the instrument based on the test development procedure according to Oriondo & Dallo-Antonio including: (1) design of test, (2) trial test, (3) determination of validity, and (4) determination of reliability. Test instrument sheet consisting of 13 items and then validated by promotors and measurement experts. The validated instruments were then tried out on 100 students in Biology Education Program of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The polytomous data were analyzed using Partial Credit Model (PCM-1 PL). The results showed that 13 items of scientific reasoning instruments were proved fit with the PCM model. By using the lowest limit criteria, INFIT MNSQ was 0.77 and the upper limit was 1.30, the instrument reliability was 0.74 that based on the estimate of case estimate was high. The index of difficulty of items ranged between -2.25 and 0.97. Thus, scientific reasoning instruments which were qualified to measure scientific reasoning skills should be prioritized in learning for biology education students.

Integrating local culture in physics lessons may encourage the development of creative thinking and problem-solving skills. This research aims at examining the effectiveness of the implementation of the creative physics problem solving model based on the local culture of Yaaqowiyu (Cripics-Qu) to improve student's creative thinking and problem-solving skills. This research employed a quasi experimental non-equivalent control group design. The experimental class was given treatment using the Cripics-Qu model, while the control class utilized the conventional learning model. The research samples were 120 students of grade X. The sampling technique employed was a cluster sampling technique. The data were collected using tests instrument. The instrument validity was determined based on the Aiken index while instrument reliability was measured based on Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The data were analyzed by using manova and quantitative descriptive. The results of this research indicate that there is a significant difference on the average value of the creative thinking and problem-solving skills between the experimental class and the control class (sig = .00 < α). The conclusion of this research shows that the use of the Cripics-Qu model in physics learning is very effective in improving students' creative thinking and problem-solving skills. The era of globalization and pandemic has greatly affected education, especially in the teaching and learning processes. Offline learning system must be changed to an online learning system. Prospective teachers are required to explore both knowledge and technology, so that effective and meaningful learning can be created. This research was a descriptive study with a quantitative approach to determine, analyze, and describe the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPCK) abilities of prospective teachers of the Biology Education Department A private university in Jakarta, Indonesia. The research subjects were 8th semester students totaling 197 students. The instrument for collecting data on the TPACK ability of prospective teachers was questionnaires distributed through Google Forms. The results of questionnaire analyzed seven aspects of the TPACK abilities of prospective Biology teachers, including Technological Knowledge (TK), Content Knowledge (CK), Pedagogical Knowledge (PK), Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK), Technological Content Knowledge (TCK), Technological Pedagogical Knowledge (TPK), and Technological Pedagogical and Content Knowledge (TPCK). The results of this study indicated that the TPCK ability of prospective teachers is in sufficient criteria with an average value of 3.15. This showcases that it is still necessary to improve the TPACK abilities of prospective teachers in several aspects, namely mastery of content, pedagogy, and technology.
