Purpose：AFP appears to be negative about 30% of overall hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Our study aimed to develop a nomogram model to diagnose AFP negative HCC (AFPN-HCC). Patients and methods: The training set and the external validation set consisted of 516 and 456 objects. LASSO, univariate and multivariable logistic regression were performed to construct the model and then transformed into a visualized nomogram. We further used the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, the calibration curve, decision curve analysis (DCA) and clinical impact curve (CIC) for validation. Results:Four variables included age, PIVKA-II, platelet (PLT) counts and prothrombin time(PT) were selected to establish the nomogram. The area under the curve (AUC) of the ROC to distinguish AFPN-HCC patients was 0.937(95%CI, 0.892-0.938) in training set and 0.942(95%CI, 0.921-0.963) using the validation set and indicated satisfactory discriminative ability of the model. The calibration plots showed favorable consistency between the prediction of the nomogram and actual observations. DCA and CIC showed that the nomogram was clinically useful. Conclusions:Our model was effective for discrimination of AFPN-HCC from control subsets, and might be helpful for the diagnosis for AFPN-HCC.

This research aimed to analyze lifestyle-related factors which influence Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection and outcomes in Chinese adults. A single-center, retrospective study was performed from January 2012 to December 2020. Self-administered questionnaires were used to collect relevant lifestyle information, and the 13C-urea breath test was used to diagnose active Hp infection. A total of 18,211 subjects were enrolled in the study, of which 5,511 were females (30.26%). Subjects were studied longitudinally for up to five follow-up visits. At baseline, gastric Hp test was negative in 10,670 subjects (58.59%) and positive in 7,541 subjects (41.41%). Males exhibited a significantly higher Hp infection rate than females (38.56% vs 2.65%, respectively; χ 2 = 26.45, P < 0.001). Throughout the course of follow-up, Hp positive rates in the subjects decreased ( χ trend 2 {\chi }_{\text{trend}}^{2} = 666.04, P < 0.001). Among the subjects with baseline negative results, 3–6% changed from negative to positive during follow-up. In contrast, among those with baseline positive results, >70% remained positive, and 21–26% changed from positive to negative. However, only 22–27% of Hp-infected subjects received pharmacotherapy. The results indicate the prevalence of Hp infection is high in the Chinese population. That additional effort is required to prevent and control Hp infection.

Background. Circulating long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been demonstrated to serve as diagnostic biomarkers for various cancers. We aimed to elucidate the diagnostic efficacy of eight serum lncRNAs HULC, MALAT1, Linc00152, PTENP1, PTTG3P, SPRY4-IT1, UBE2CP3, and UCA1 and their combinations for the diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods. A total of 129 patients with HCC, 49 patients with liver cirrhosis, 27 patients with chronic hepatitis B, and 93 healthy controls were enrolled in this study. The levels of serum lncRNAs were assessed by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. The correlations between serum lncRNAs and clinicopathological characteristics were further analyzed. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and area under curve (AUC) were utilized to estimate the diagnostic capacity of serum lncRNAs and their combination with AFP for HCC. A logistic regression model was performed to establish a multiple-lncRNA panel. Results. The levels of serum HULC, MALAT1, Linc00152, PTTG3P, SPRY4-IT1, UBE2CP3, and UCA1 were significantly higher in HCC patients than in patients with benign liver diseases and healthy controls, whereas serum PTENP1 was significantly decreased in HCC patients compared with healthy participants. Positive correlations between serum Linc00152 and GGT, serum PTTG3P and GGT, and serum SPRY4-IT1 and ALT were noted in HCC patients. ROC analysis revealed that all these lncRNAs had a significantly predictive value for HCC except for PTENP1. The best performance of single lncRNA was obtained by Linc00152 with an AUC of 0.877. When combined with AFP, the combination of Linc00152 and AFP gained the highest accuracy, yielding an AUC of 0.906. Through logistic regression analysis, the panel consisting of serum linc00152, UCA1, and AFP provided the greatest predictive ability, obtaining an AUC of 0.912 with 82.9% sensitivity and 88.2% specificity. Conclusion. The panel of serum Linc00152, UCA1, and AFP demonstrates a novel and noninvasive biomarker with relatively high sensitivity and specificity for HCC diagnosis.

Therefore, taxi drivers will face two options: queuing in the arrival area to wait for passengers to return to the urban area and directly returning to the urban area. In this paper, through the collection of relevant airport data and analysis and calculation methods, a fitting model is established, and a reasonable scheme is designed for the allocation of taxi resources. Based on the study and analysis of the influencing mechanism of taxi drivers’ decision-making factors, and considering the changing law of airport passenger number and the income of taxi drivers, this paper puts forward the reasonable allocation scheme of airport taxi.

In recent years, there have been several serious inflation problems in China. Western theorists believe that there is a certain relationship between the independence of the central bank and inflation in China (Chen, 2019). In this paper, LS measure method is used to measure the independence of the central bank, and the inflation rate of 1994-2017 in China is calculated. Based on the collected data, the time series analysis of the independence of the central bank and the inflation in China is carried out. It holds that the independence of the central bank is negatively related to inflation, and aims to improve the independence of the central bank in China and lay the foundation for stabilizing the price level.

Background: Screening colonoscopy has historically been recommended starting at the age of 50. However, the recommended age for beginning screening has recently been reduced to 45 independent of sex. However, studies on screening colonoscopies of average-risk individuals in China are sparse. This study aimed to determine and compare the prevalence of adenomas, advanced adenomas (AAs), and colorectal cancers (CRCs) and the number of individuals needing screening in an average-risk Chinese population of different ages and sexes.Methods: A total of 53,152 individuals undergoing colonoscopy were included from January 2013 to December 2019. We analysed and compared the prevalence of adenomas, AAs, and CRCs and the number of individuals needing screening in different age groups of men and women.Results: The average age of males was 48.80 years (SD, 8.47 years), that of females was 50.00 years (SD, 9.00 years), and the sex ratio was 66.28% (n=35,226) vs. 33.72% (n=17,926). The prevalence of adenomas, AAs, serrated adenomas and CRCs was 14.51% ([95% CI 14.21–14.81], n=7713), 3.04% ([95% CI 2.90–3.19], n=1617), 1.23% ([95% CI 1.01–1.32], n=653) and 0.59% ([95% CI 0.52–0.65], n=313), respectively. Male sex was significantly associated with a high prevalence of adenomas (17.14% [95% CI 16.74–17.53] vs 9.36% [95% CI 8.94–9.79], PConclusions: The prevalence of adenomas, AAs, and serrated adenomas increased with age. Males had a higher prevalence rate than females. The prevalence and NNS of AAs in 45- to 49-year-old men were close to those in 65- to 69-year-old women.

Background/AimsThere were two methods used for measuring skeletal muscle mass index (SMI); one is SMM (%) = skeletal muscle mass(kg) /body weight mass (kg)×100%, and the other is SMH (kg/m2) = skeletal muscle mass(kg)/ height (m)2. The aim of this study was to compare on the distribution of the two algorithms of SMI.MethodsThis study included 141,451 participants who accepted physical examination. Body mass index (BMI), and body fat percentage (BFP) were estimated using a bioelectrical impedance analyzer. SMI was calculated by the two algorithms.ResultsLevels of BMI, BFP, SMM and SMH differed significantly among the sexes. The aim of this study was to investigate the distribution characteristics of GerdQ results in a Chinese population and the association between lifestyle and GerdQ scores. Among the 37 442 individuals enrolled from September 2009 to March 2016, 7 449 (19.89%) had a GerdQ score of ≥8 points and 29 993 (80.11%) had a GerdQ score of χ2=111.571, P≤0.001), and the prevalence of GERD was higher in the young and middle-aged populations than in the elderly population. The prevalence of GERD increased gradually with weight gain (χ2=145.227, P≤0.001). With regard to lifestyle, the prevalence of GERD in the subjects who smoked (χ2=119.361, P≤0.001), consumed alcohol excessively, lacked physical activity (χ2=86.916, P≤0.001), and had an excessive intake of oil, meat, fish, and eggs showed an ascending trend (χ2=105.388, P≤0.001). In contrast, an adequate intake of vegetables (≥300 g/d) and fruit (≥200 g/d) was associated with a significantly lower incidence of GERD. Suspected GERD is very common in individuals undergoing health examinations. Unhealthy lifestyles are closely related to the high incidence of suspected GERD. GerdQ scores can play a role in screening for GERD.

Purpose Functional disorders caused by food intolerance (FI) are prevalent, thus it is important to analyze the FI of healthy people to common foods so as to guide the people for eating the healthy foods. The paper aims to discuss this issue. Design/methodology/approach In total, 88,436 healthy persons including 60,902 males and 27,534 females at the age ranging from 20 to 70 years old were subjected a normal physical examination. In total, 14 kinds of food-specific IgG antibodies were detected by enzyme-linked immunesorbent assay. Findings The total positive rate of 14 FIs was as high as 64.16 percent. Five kinds of foods (egg, crab, cod, shrimp and milk) accounted for 84.51 percent of the total positive rate. In more than one kind of FIs, egg took the largest proportion than the others and the proportion was 58.54 percent. The second was crab with a positive rate of 56.19 percent. The antibody positive rate of any food in one kind of FIs was significantly lower than that in more than one kind of FIs (χ2=629.35, p Originality/value The results would not only prompt us to pay more attention to FI in daily life, but provide theoretical foundation for the early prevention, diagnosis and treatment of related clinical diseases as well as guiding people healthy meals.

To explore the expression and role of ATPase cation transporting 13A2 (ATP13A2) on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression and prognosis.The level of ATP13A2 in 63 HCC tissues was evaluated by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, Western blot, and immunohistochemistry. Then, the prognostic value of ATP13A2 for HCC was explored. GO and KEGG pathway enrichments were performed to predict ATP13A2-mediated biological functions. Besides, the correlations between ATP13A2 and key regulators involved in cell cycle and metastasis, the status of different tumor-infiltrating immune cells was investigated.ATP13A2 was frequently upregulated in 63 HCC tissues relatively to matched non-tumor tissues. The level of ATP13A2 significantly correlated with tumor stage and tumor grade. HCC patients with higher levels of ATP13A2 had a worse prognosis. Moreover, multivariate survival analysis supported ATP13A2 to be an independent prognostic factor for HCC. GO and KEGG analysis indicated a potential role of ATP13A2 on regulating cell cycle, metastasis, and immune infiltrates. Especially, the level of ATP13A2 was positively correlated with CCNB1, CCND3, CDC25B, CDK4, Vimentin, MMP9, MMP14, and LMNB2. A positive correlation was noticed between ATP13A2 and infiltration levels of B cells, CD8Upregulation of ATP13A2 is a common feature as well as an independent prognostic biomarker for HCC. ATP13A2 are associated with key regulators involved in cell cycle, metastasis, and immune infiltrates in HCC, and may act as a potential immunotherapy target for HCC.

Phonocardiogram (PCG) signals reflect the mechanical activity of the heart. Previous studies have reported that PCG signals contain heart murmurs caused by coronary artery disease (CAD). However, the murmurs caused by CAD are very weak and rarely heard by the human ear. In this paper, a novel feature fusion framework is proposed to provide a comprehensive basis for CAD diagnosis. A dataset containing PCG signals of 175 subjects was collected and used. A total of 110 features were extracted from multiple domains, and then reduced and selected. Images obtained by Mel-frequency cepstral coefficients were used as the input for the convolutional neural network for feature learning. Then, the selected features and the deep learning features were fused and fed into a multilayer perceptron for classification. The proposed feature fusion method achieved better classification performance than multi-domain features or deep learning features alone, with accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of 90.43%, 93.67%, and 83.36%, respectively. A comparison with existing studies demonstrated that the proposed method was a promising noninvasive screening tool for CAD under general medical conditions.

Smoking and drinking are two predisposing factors for dyslipidemia. Exercise has been proposed as a strategy to improve the blood lipids. However, it remains unclear how smoking and drinking jointly affect blood lipids and whether exercise influences their effects.To evaluate the effects of smoking and drinking, either alone or in combination, on lipid-related indices in both exercise and non-exercise groups among Chinese men.This study was conducted in a health examination center between 2015 and 2016. A sample of 6,179 male subjects was divided into exercise and non-exercise groups. Logistic and linear regression analyses were used to calculate the odds ratios for abnormal lipid-related indices and correlation coefficients between smoking/drinking and lipid-related indices.In the study population, the percentage of stable smokers and stable drinkers was 46.3% (2,860/6,179) and 77.6% (4,795/6,179), respectively. An increased smoking amount was significantly associated with an elevated triglyceride (TG) level and a decreased high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) level. Heavier smokers had higher odds ratios for high TG and low HDL-C. Heavier drinkers had higher levels of total cholesterol (TC), TG, and HDL-C and higher odds ratios for high TC and high TG but lower odds ratio for low HDL-C. The exercise group had lower TG levels and higher HDL-C levels than did the non-exercise group.Both heavier smoking and heavier drinking were associated with poorer TG levels, and the results suggest that drinking may be helpful for HDL-C. Exercise may relieve the negative effects of smoking and drinking.

Reprimo (RPRM) is a tumor suppressor involved in the development of a number of malignant tumors including gastric cancer which is highly related to its gene hypermethylation. However, the regulation of RPRM gene expression by DNA methylation in gastric cancer is not well understood. We examined the RPRM gene methylation in gastric cancer tissues or plasma samples by bisulfite sequencing, and investigated the relationship between DNA methylation and the RPRM gene expression by quantitative reverse transcription-PCR and Western blotting. We found that the RPRM gene promoter region is hypermethylated in gastric cancer tissues (75%, 45/60), plasma samples (86.3%, 44/51) and various cancer cell lines (75%, 3/4), which is correlated with the decrease of RPRM gene expression. The hypermethylation-induced RPRM reduction can be recovered by treating with zebularine, a demethylating agent, and by inhibition of the DNA methyltransferases via RNA interference and CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene knockout. In addition, we generated RPRM gene-knockout cells and studied the effects of the RPRM deficiency on tumor formation by inoculating these cells in mice. The data show that the loss of RPRM can promote tumorigenesis. These data suggest that the RPRM expression is inhibited by DNA methyltransferases and the RPRM normal function can be restored by treating with DNA methylation inhibitors. The study provides important information regarding the role of RPRM and its methylation related to gastric cancer development.

Aim: Our purpose is to improve the conventional procedures for bisulfite conversion used to detect 5-methylcytosine in DNA. Methods: Impacts of different bisulfite salts, bisulfite conversion temperature, antioxidants and denaturants on DNA conversion and degradation were assessed by methylation-sensitive melt curve analysis. The modified method was tested on different genes and the conversion efficiency was analyzed by bisulfite sequencing. Results: We developed a modified bisulfite conversion method that completes this process within 2 h. We demonstrate that high temperature denaturation is the major cause for DNA degradation, and the addition of ethylene glycol dimethyl ether is an effective way to accelerate the bisulfite conversion. The conversion efficiency is comparable to many other commercial kits. Conclusion: Our modified bisulfite conversion method is simple, cost efficient and less time consuming and is compatible with different genes and samples, thus has a great potential for the future research and clinical applications.

Background colon adenocarcinoma (COAD) is the most common malignant tumor of gastrointestinal tract. Our study attempts to explore the effect of miR-1307–3p on biological function of COAD cells and its connection with isthmin 1 (ISM1). Methods The miRNA dataset and clinical information of patients with COAD were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. The survival prognosis was analyzed by GGSURV package from R. MicroRNA (miR)-1307–3p was identified by identifying overlapping miRNAs that target ISM1, across two databases (miRDB and Targetscan). Dual luciferase reporter assay was employed to scrutinize the relationship between miR-1307–3p and ISM1. RT-PCR was used to quantify miR-1307–3p and ISM1 expression of colon cancer tissues and cell lines. Western blot was performed to quantify related protein expression. Flow Cytometry, CCK8 and colony formation assays were performed to evaluate the apoptosis, cell cycle, cell viability and proliferation of COAD cells. Results miR-1307–3p mRNA level decreased in both COAD tissues and cell lines. Overexpression of miR-1307–3p suppressed the proliferation, promoted apoptosis and arrested cell cycle at G1 phase, meanwhile, downregulation of ISM1 accelerated the proliferation, inhibited apoptosis and promote cell cycleprogression. The result of dual luciferase reporter assay indicated that miR-1307–3p targeted ISM1 directly and inhibited its expression. The functions of miR-1307–3p regulating cleaved caspase-3, cyclinD1, Ki67 protein levels and activation of Wnt3a/β-catenin signaling pathway were reversed by ISM1. Conclusions miR-1307–3p inhibited activation of Wnt3a/β-catenin signaling through targeting downregulation of ISM1, thereby inhibited proliferation and promote apoptosis of COAD cells.

Background: The association between age at menarche (AAM) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) has previously been investigated with controversial results. The relationship between the psychological characteristic of AAM and many cardiovascular risk factors remains unclear. Purpose: To assess the association between AAM and CVD risk factors in a large population. Design and Setting: 13,242 women aged 24-79 years were recruited from China mainland during 2009-2013 for a cross-sectional, population-based study to investigate the association between AAM and CVD risk factors. Information on AAM was obtained from self-report and information on CVD risk factors from physical examination. Results: In age-, body-mass-index- and height-adjusted analyses, AAM was positively associated with hypertension and ‘college or above' educational level and incident CVD events. The adjusted odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals for hypertension across AAM categories (≤12, 13-14, 15-16, and ≥17 years) were 0.820 (0.70-0.96), 0.82 (0.70-0.96), 0.88 (0.79-0.99) and 1 (referent), respectively; adjusted ORs for high educational level (‘college or above') were 0.29 (0.24-0.34), 0.60 (0.41-0.51), 0.69 (0.62-0.76), and 1 (referent), respectively; adjusted ORs for incident CVD events were 0.18 (0.08-0.41), 0.18 (0.08-0.41), 0.62 (0.41-0.93), 1 (referent), respectively. Conclusions: Earlier AAM were positively associated with incident CVD events, hypertension and ‘college or above' educational level.

Heat stress disturbs cellular homeostasis, thus usually impairs yield of flowering Chinese cabbage (Brassica campestris L. ssp. chinensis var. utilis Tsen et Lee). MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play a significant role in plant responses to different stresses by modulating gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. However, the roles that miRNAs and their target genes may play in heat tolerance of flowering Chinese cabbage remain poorly characterized. The current study sequenced six small RNA libraries generated from leaf tissues of flowering Chinese cabbage collected at 0, 6, and 12 h after 38 &deg, C heat treatment, and identified 49 putative novel miRNAs and 43 known miRNAs that differentially expressed between heat-tolerant and heat-sensitive flowering Chinese cabbage. Among them, 14 novel and nine known miRNAs differentially expressed only in the heat-tolerant genotype under heat-stress, therefore, their target genes including disease resistance protein TAO1-like, RPS6, reticuline oxidase-like protein, etc. might play important roles in enhancing heat-tolerance. Gene Ontology (GO) analysis revealed that targets of these differentially expressed miRNAs may play key roles in responses to temperature stimulus, cell part, cellular process, cell, membrane, biological regulation, binding, and catalytic activities. Furthermore, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway analysis identified their important functions in signal transduction, environmental adaptation, global and overview maps, as well as in stress adaptation and in MAPK signaling pathways such as cell death. These findings provide insight into the functions of the miRNAs in heat stress tolerance of flowering Chinese cabbage.

The American Heart Association's 2020 Strategic Goals define a new concept of cardiovascular health. However, the prevalence of ideal cardiovascular health outside of the United States is unclear, and its relationship with psychological status has not been reported.We included 9962 participants (mean age 47.1 years; 44.2% women) from the survey of the Disease Risk Evaluation and Health Management study from October 2009 to Feb 2012. The prevalence of poor, intermediate, and ideal cardiovascular health levels were calculated, and psychological status was assessed using the 21-item Depression Anxiety Stress Scales.After adjusting for sex and age, only 0.5% of the participants met ideal levels of all 7 cardiovascular health metrics, and 26.9% presented with 5 to 7 ideal health metrics. Fasting plasma glucose was the most prevalent ideal metric (71.2%), whereas physical activity was the least prevalent (18.1%). Women had a significantly higher proportion of 5 to 7 ideal health metrics compared with men (40.4% versus 13.4% after adjusting for age), and the proportion of participants who had 5 to 7 ideal health metrics significantly decreased with age (P0.001 for trend). Furthermore, the scores for depression, anxiety, and stress showed a negative correlation with the number of ideal health metrics, with regression coefficients of -0.07, -0.07, and -0.11, respectively (P0.05).Few adults met ideal levels of cardiovascular health. Individuals, communities, and health-care providers in China should be better integrated to pay closer attention to primordial prevention of unhealthy lifestyles and psychological problems.

MicroRNA‑130a (miR‑130a) has been reported to be downregulated in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the roles and underlying tumor‑suppressive mechanisms of miR‑130a in the pathogenesis of HCC remain unclear. In the current study, reduced expression of miR‑130a was observed in tumor tissues of patients with HCC in addition to in four HCC cell lines, BEL‑7402, MHCC97H, HepG2 and Huh7. Results of methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) assays identified decreased growth rates of MHCC97H and HepG2 cells transfected with miR‑130a mimics. The in vitro colony formation assays demonstrated that the number of colonies formed by cells transfected with miR‑130a mimics and cells transfected with miR‑130a inhibitors was lower and higher, respectively, than that formed by the cells transfected with miR‑negative control. In addition, it was identified that overexpression of miR‑130a reduced the migration and invasiveness of MHCC97H and HepG2 cells. Luciferase reporter assays demonstrated that miR‑130a directly targeted the 3'‑untranslated region of Rho‑kinase 2 (ROCK2) mRNA. Northern and western blot analyses indicated that miR‑130a could modulate the mRNA and protein expression of ROCK2. Additionally, small‑interfering RNA‑mediated knockdown of ROCK2 decreased the proliferation, migration and invasiveness of MHCC97H and HepG2 cells. Overall, these observation suggest that miR‑130a is a regulator of ROCK2 and can inhibit proliferation, migration and invasive ability of HCC cells, at least in part, by suppressing the expression of ROCK2. The current study provides further insight into the molecular mechanisms of HCC pathogenesis and suggests a new potential biotarget for HCC treatment.

Reprimo (RPRM) is a p53-induced tumor suppressor gene. Its aberrant DNA methylation is correlated with carcinogenesis and may be used as a surrogate marker for the early detection of gastric cancer. However, the detail information regarding its DNA methylation has not been revealed. Here, we investigated the RPRM gene methylation in gastric cancer tumor and plasma samples by methylation-sensitive melt curve analysis (MS-MCA) and bisulfite sequencing in depth. We developed a semi-quantitative method based on MS-MCA for detecting DNA methylation and unraveled the RPRM gene methylation pattern in gastric cancer. This study provides a solid foundation for the future application of detecting RPRM gene methylation in human plasma or serum samples to help diagnose gastric cancer or for prognosis evaluation.

To investigate the association of H-type hypertension with carotid atherosclerotic plaques in Chinese.This hospital-based large population study included 13192 patients and all the patients were sequentially recruited between May 2010 and May 2013 at the Health Medical Center of the Chinese PLA General Hospital. The subjects were divided into four groups: the H-type of hypertension group, isolated systolic hypertension, simple homocysteine (Hcy) group, and the control group without hypertension and Hcy. Univariate logistic regression analysis was performed to investigate the association of H-type hypertension with the odds of carotid atherosclerotic plaques.Among the 13192 subjects, there were 9007 (68.28% of all subjects) patients with hyperhomocysteinemia and 3543 patients with H-type hypertension, which was 26.86% of all subjects and 74.45% of hypertension patients. 34.55% of all subjects (4558) had carotid atherosclerotic plaques. The carotid atherosclerotic plaques positive rate among four groups was significantly different (χ(2) = 647.8988, P = 0.000). The carotid atherosclerotic plaques' positive rate of patients with H-type hypertension was 49.31%, which was significantly higher than the other three groups. Univariate logistic regression analysis results indicated that significant correlations exist between high-Hcy hypertension and carotid atherosclerotic plaques. Incidence of carotid atherosclerotic plaques in H-type hypertension patients was 1.63 times that in patients with isolated systolic hypertension.H-type hypertension is independently associated with higher risk of carotid atherosclerotic plaques. H-type hypertension and Hcy should be the major intervention measures to decrease the incidence of carotid atherosclerotic plaques as well as the stroke in Health Practice Management.

To compare the characteristics of body composition for different gender and age in a large number of apparently healthy Chinese subjects, and to determine reference values for fat-free mass index (FFMI) and fat mass index (FMI).In total, 61,382 Chinese adults (age range: 18-92 years) were consecutively enrolled into the study. Body composition was measured using bioelectrical impedance analysis with a tetrapolar impedance meter.The skeletal muscle mass, fat-free mass (FFM), FFMI and body mass index (BMI) were significantly higher in men than in women (P0.05), but FM% and FMI were significantly higher in women (P0.05). In the group with normal BMI (BMI 18.5-23.9 kg/m(2), 18-92 years), the reference values (5th-95th percentile) of FM%, FFMI and FMI were 9.7-34.5%, 14.15-19.76 and 1.99-7.75 kg/m(2) in men, and 18.1-35.8%, 13.82-17.89 and 3.68-8.16 kg/m(2) in women, respectively.Reference intervals for FFMI and FMI could be of practical value for the clinical evaluation of a deficit in FFM with or without excess FM for a given age category, complementing the classical concept of BMI in a more qualitative manner, although these indices are only suggestive indications for the degree of obesity. In contrast to BMI, similar reference ranges of FFMI seem to be more utilizable with advancing age.

To explore the correlation of food intolerance and hyperlipidemia.A cross-sectional survey was conducted from August 2008 to June 2009. It recruited a total of 11 434 adults from Health Sciences Center at our hospital. Non-conditional Logistic regression model was utilized for determining odd ratio (OR) and 95% confidencer interval (CI). And statistic analysis was performed with SPSS 13.0.Among them 6 897 participants were food intolerance positive and 4 537 food intolerance negative. The prevalence of food intolerance was 60.32%. Age, gender, smoking, body mass index, total cholesterol, triglycerides and high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol were significantly different between positive and negative ones (all P0.05). Multiple regression analysis showed that food intolerance was significantly correlated with age, gender, body mass index, but negatively with hyperlipidemia. Compared with age group ≤ 40 years, the OR (95%CI) of age groups 41-50, 51-60 and60 years were 1.125(1.021-1.238), 1.350(1.207-1.510) and 1.564(1.279-1.912) respectively. Compared with males, the OR (95%CI) of females was 1.528(1.382-1.689). Compared with normal weighters, the OR (95%CI) of low weighters was 1.720 (1.147-2.580). Compared with normal blood lipids, the OR (95%CI) of hyperlipidemia was 0.879 (0.810-0.955).Food intolerance may be negatively correlated with hyperlipidemia in healthcare population.

To explore the prevalence of food intolerance and its determinants in healthcare elderly in China.A cross sectional survey was carried out from August 1(st), 2008 to June 30(th), 2009, that including 736 60-year-olds from a Health Management Research Institute, Chinese PLA General Hospital. Data was double entried in computer and organized by EpiData 3.0. Non conditional logistic regression model was used for odd ratio (OR) and 95% CI, with the use of SPSS 13.0.The three leading foodstuff on intolerance were crab, egg and shrimp, with the prevalence rates as 35.9% , 28.8% and 15.1% respectively. Results from the multiple regression analysis showed that the crab intolerance was associated with Helicobacter pylori infections (P0.05). The OR(95%CI) of Helicobacter pylori infections (DOB≥4) was 1.544 (1.139-2.091).The three leading intolerance foods were egg, crab and shrimp. Crab intolerance was associated with Helicobacter pylori infections. To reduce the risk of crab intolerance, it was necessary to control the infection caused by Helicobacter pylori.
