Abstract While exploring the process of CO/CO2 electroreduction (COxRR) is of great significance to achieve carbon recycling, deciphering reaction mechanisms so as to further design catalytic systems able to overcome sluggish kinetics remains challenging. In this work, a model single-Co-atom catalyst with well-defined coordination structure is developed and employed as a platform to unravel the underlying reaction mechanism of COxRR. The as-prepared single-Co-atom catalyst exhibits a maximum methanol Faradaic efficiency as high as 65% at 30 mA/cm2 in a membrane electrode assembly electrolyzer, while on the contrary, the reduction pathway of CO2 to methanol is strongly decreased in CO2RR. In-situ X-ray absorption and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopies point to a different adsorption configuration of *CO intermediate in CORR as compared to that in CO2RR, with a weaker stretching vibration of the C–O bond in the former case. Theoretical calculations further evidence the low energy barrier for the formation of a H-CoPc-CO– species, which is a critical factor in promoting the electrochemical reduction of CO to methanol.

Abstract The chief culprit impeding the commercialization of lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries is the parasitic shuttle effect and restricted redox kinetics of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs). To circumvent these key stumbling blocks, incorporating electrocatalysts with rational electronic structure modulation into sulfur cathode plays a decisive role in vitalizing the higher electrocatalytic activity to promote sulfur utilization efficiency. Breaking the stereotype of contemporary electrocatalyst design kept on pretreatment, field‐assisted electrocatalysts offer strategic advantages in dynamically controllable electrochemical reactions that might be thorny to regulate in conventional electrochemical processes. However, the highly interdisciplinary field‐assisted electrochemistry puzzles researchers for a fundamental understanding of the ambiguous correlations among electronic structure, surface adsorption properties, and catalytic performance. In this review, the mechanisms, functionality explorations, and advantages of field‐assisted electrocatalysts including electric, magnetic, light, thermal, and strain fields in Li–S batteries have been summarized. By demonstrating pioneering work for customized geometric configuration, energy band engineering, and optimal microenvironment arrangement in response to decreased activation energy and enriched reactant concentration for accelerated sulfur redox kinetics, cutting‐edge insights into the holistic periscope of charge‐spin‐orbital‐lattice interplay between LiPSs and electrocatalysts are scrutinized, which aspires to advance the comprehensive understanding of the complex electrochemistry of Li–S batteries. Finally, future perspectives are provided to inspire innovations capable of defeating existing restrictions.

The CO electroreduction reaction (CORR) represents an important piece of the decarbonization puzzle and is heavily inspired by research on the CO2 electroreduction reaction (CO2RR). Compared to its parent reaction, CORR circumvents the (bi)carbonate issue that plagues CO2RR, potentially enabling greater stability and selectivity toward C2+ products, particularly oxygenates. Despite its unique potential, CORR still suffers from unsatisfactory performance. In this perspective article, we aim to provide a concise and informative overview of CORR and its close connection with CO2RR. We start by briefly presenting the two reactions’ similarities and differences, then discussing several catalyst design strategies. This is followed by highlights of the latest results on device integration and engineering. Finally, we offer our thoughts about possible future research opportunities that could render this technology a practical reality.

Abstract Aims Takotsubo syndrome (TTS) is an acute reversible cardiac dysfunction that may occur during the peri‐operative period and among patients with serious illness. We aimed to evaluate the clinical characteristics, peri‐operative management, and prognosis of peri‐operative TTS (pTTS) and explore the factors associated with pTTS. Methods We conducted a retrospective nested case–control study using the database of patients who underwent in‐hospital non‐cardiac surgeries between January 2017 and December 2020 in Peking University Third hospital. Cases were adult patients diagnosed TTS at discharge who were matched with four controls based on operative types. Multivariable conditional logistic regression was used to identified the factors associated with pTTS. The area under the curve (AUC) was used to evaluate the diagnostic efficacy. Results Among the 128 536 patients underwent non‐cardiac surgery, 20 patients with pTTS and 80 patients without were enrolled in this study. The incidence of pTTS was about 0.016% in our centre. The median age of patients with pTTS was 52.5 (38.25, 76.25) years, although 90% of them were female. Fifty per cent (9 cases) of female patients were pre‐menopausal. Caesarean section has the highest proportion of pTTS (30% of the pTTS cases) with the incidence of caesarean section‐related pTTS of 0.06% in our centre. A high prevalence of non‐apical ballooning pattern of regional wall motion abnormality (seven cases, 35%) and a high mortality (two cases, 10%) were observed. Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) of patients with pTTS was significantly decreased (41.7 ± 8.8%). In the acute phase, supportive treatments aiming to reduce life‐threatening complications were main treatment strategies. After receiving systematic treatment, significant improvements were observed in LVEF (63.1 ± 13.5%), with median recovery time of LVEF of 7.48 days. Leucocyte count [odds ratio (OR): 4.59; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.10–19.15], haemoglobin (HGB) (OR: 10.52; 95% CI: 1.04–106.36), and the revised cardiac risk index (RCRI) score (OR: 6.30; 95% CI: 1.05–37.88) were the factors significantly associated with pTTS. The RCRI score performed poorly in the prediction of pTTS (AUC: 0.630; 95% CI: 0.525–0.735). After adding leucocyte count and HGB into the RCRI score, the AUC was significantly improved (AUC: 0.768; 95% CI: 0.671–0.865; P = 0.001). Conclusions Patients with pTTS have some differences compared with common TTS, including higher proportion of pre‐menopausal female, higher prevalence during caesarean section, higher prevalence of non‐apical ballooning pattern of regional wall motion abnormality, and higher mortality. The RCRI score performed poorly in the evaluation of pTTS. Adding HGB and leucocyte count into the RCRI score could significantly improve its predictive performance.

The elemental accumulation and recycling in the metamorphosed Keketale VMS-type Pb-Zn deposit of the Altai Mountains are presented in this study. Based on detailed fieldwork and microscopic observation, the formation of the deposit involved syngenetic massive sulfide mineralization and epigenetic superimposed mineralization. Different generations of iron sulfides (i.e., pyrite and pyrrhotite) with contrasting textural, elemental, and sulfur isotopic features were generated in primary mineralization (including hydrothermal iron sulfides, colloform pyrite) and secondary modification (including annealed iron sulfides, oriented iron sulfides, and vein-pyrite). It is revealed that the spatial variation in textures and elements of hydrothermal iron sulfides depends on the inhomogeneous fluid compositions and varied environment in VMS hydrothermal system. Both leached sulfur from the footwall volcanic rocks and reduced sulfur by the TSR process are regarded as important sulfur sources. Furthermore, large sulfur isotopic fractionation and negative δ34S values were mainly caused by varied oxygen fugacity, and to a lesser extent, temperature fluctuation. The epigenetic polymetallic veins that contain sulfides and sulfosalts (e.g., jordanite-geocronite, bournonite-seligmannite, boulangerite) were considered as the products of metamorphic fluid scavenged the metal-rich strata. All things considered, it is indicated that two episodes of fluid with distinct origins were essential for the formation of the deposit. The predominant evolved seawater along with subordinate magmatic fluid mobilized metals from volcanic rocks and precipitated massive sulfides near the seafloor are vital for primary mineralization. The metamorphic fluid remobilized metals (i.e., FMEs: fluid mobile elements, e.g., Pb, As, Sb) from neighboring volcanic and pyroclastic rocks and destabilized them within the fractured zone are responsible for secondary mineralization, which enhances the economic value of the deposit. Accordingly, metal-rich Devonian strata had been successively swept by different origins of fluid, leading to progressively elemental enrichment and the formation of a large deposit. Furthermore, the current study enlightens that FME-bearing veins with economic benefits can be discovered near the metamorphosed VMS deposits.

Abstract As one of the most promising candidates for next‐generation energy storage systems, lithium‐sulfur (Li‐S) batteries have gained wide attention owing to their ultrahigh theoretical energy density and low cost. Nevertheless, their road to commercial application is still full of thorns due to the inherent sluggish redox kinetics and severe polysulfides shuttle. Incorporating sulfur cathodes with adsorbents/catalysts has been proposed to be an effective strategy to address the foregoing challenges, whereas the complexity of sulfur cathodes resulting from the intricate design parameters greatly influences the corresponding energy density, which has been frequently ignored. In this review, the recent progress in design strategies of advanced sulfur cathodes is summarized and the significance of compatible regulation among sulfur active materials, tailored hosts, and elaborate cathode configuration is clarified, aiming to bridge the gap between fundamental research and practical application of Li‐S batteries. The representative strategies classified by sulfur encapsulation, host architecture, and cathode configuration are first highlighted to illustrate their synergetic contribution to the electrochemical performance improvement. Feasible integration principles are also proposed to guide the practical design of advanced sulfur cathodes. Finally, prospects and future directions are provided to realize high energy density and long‐life Li‐S batteries.

Abstract The electrochemical carbon dioxide (CO2) reduction provides a means to upgrade CO2 into value‐added chemicals. When powered by renewable electricity, CO2 electroreduction holds the promise of chemical manufacturing with carbon neutrality. A commercially relevant CO2 electroreduction process should be highly selective and productive toward desired products, energetically efficient for power conversion, and stable for long‐term operation. To achieve these goals, designing gas‐diffusion catalytic electrodes and prototyping reactors built upon in‐depth understandings of the reaction mechanisms are of paramount importance. In this review, the fundamentals of gas‐diffusion electrodes are briefly presented. Then, the most recent advances in developing high‐performance CO2 reduction using gas‐diffusion electrodes are overviewed. Reactor engineering aiming at enhancing productivity, energy efficiency, CO2 single‐pass utilization, and operating lifetime is further discussed. Challenges in developing CO2 electroreduction systems are included. The prospects for advancing CO2 electroreduction toward practical applications are also narrated.

Lithium–sulfur (Li–S) batteries hold great promise to be the next-generation candidate for high-energy-density secondary batteries but in the prerequisite of using low electrolyte-to-sulfur (E/S) ratios. Highly solvating electrolytes (HSEs) and sparingly solvating electrolytes (SSEs), with opposite nature towards the dissolution of polysulfides, have recently emerged as two effective solutions to decrease the E/S ratio and increase the overall practical energy density of Li–S batteries. HSEs featuring with high polysulfide solvation ability have the potential to reduce the E/S ratio by dissolving more polysulfides with less electrolyte, while SSEs alter the sulfur reaction pathway from a dissolution–precipitation mechanism to a quasi-solid mechanism, thereby independent on the use of electrolyte amount. Both HSEs and SSEs show respective effectiveness in lean-electrolyte Li–S batteries, but encounter different challenges to bring Li–S batteries into practical application. This review aims to present a comparative discussion on their unique features and basic electrochemical reaction mechanisms in practical lean-electrolyte Li–S batteries. Emphasis is focused on the current technical challenges and possible solutions for their future development.

BackgroundMajor adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) represent a significant reason of morbidity and mortality in non-cardiac surgery during perioperative period. The prevention of perioperative MACEs has always been one of the hotspots in the research field. Current existing models have not been validated in Chinese population, and have become increasingly unable to adapt to current clinical needs.ObjectivesTo establish and validate several simple bedside tools for predicting MACEs during perioperative period of non-cardiac surgery in Chinese hospitalized patients.DesignWe used a nested case-control study to establish our prediction models. A nomogram along with a risk score were developed using logistic regression analysis. An internal cohort was used to evaluate the performance of discrimination and calibration of these predictive models including the revised cardiac risk index (RCRI) score recommended by current guidelines.SettingPeking University Third Hospital between January 2010 and December 2020.PatientsTwo hundred and fifty three patients with MACEs and 1,012 patients without were included in the training set from January 2010 to December 2019 while 38,897 patients were included in the validation set from January 2020 and December 2020, of whom 112 patients had MACEs.Main Outcome MeasuresThe MACEs included the composite outcomes of cardiac death, non-fatal myocardial infarction, non-fatal congestive cardiac failure or hemodynamically significant ventricular arrhythmia, and Takotsubo cardiomyopathy.ResultsSeven predictors, including Hemoglobin, CARDIAC diseases, Aspartate aminotransferase (AST), high Blood pressure, Leukocyte count, general Anesthesia, and Diabetes mellitus (HASBLAD), were selected in the final model. The nomogram and HASBLAD score all achieved satisfactory prediction performance in the training set (C statistic, 0.781 vs. 0.768) and the validation set (C statistic, 0.865 vs. 0.843). Good calibration was observed for the probability of MACEs in the training set and the validation set. The two predictive models both had excellent discrimination that performed better than RCRI in the validation set (C statistic, 0.660, P < 0.05 vs. nomogram and HASBLAD score).ConclusionThe nomogram and HASBLAD score could be useful bedside tools for predicting perioperative MACEs of non-cardiac surgery in Chinese hospitalized patients.

Abstract Rechargeable metal–sulfur batteries with the use of low‐cost sulfur cathodes and varying choice of metal anodes (Li, Na, K, Ca, Mg, and Al) represent diverse energy storage solutions to satisfy different application requirements. In comparison to the highly‐regarded lithium–sulfur batteries, the use of nonlithium‐metal anodes in metal–sulfur batteries offers multiple advantages in terms of abundance, cost, and volumetric energy density. Although with the same sulfur cathode, metal–sulfur batteries show considerably differences in the electrochemical reaction pathway and capacity fading mechanism. Herein, we provide an overview of correlations and differences in metal–sulfur batteries, highlighting the knowledge and experience that can be transplanted from lithium–sulfur to other metal–sulfur batteries. We first discuss the historical development and the electrochemical reaction mechanism of various metal–sulfur batteries. This is then followed by an analysis of key challenges of metal–sulfur batteries including polysulfide shutting, cathode passivation, and anode stability. Finally, a short perspective is presented about the possible future development of metal–sulfur batteries.

Indium‐based materials can selectively reduce CO2 to formate, but their activities still fall short of expectations to be considered for practical applications. Structural engineering at the nanoscale offers a promising solution. However, it is challenging to directly prepare nanostructures of metallic indium because of its low melting point and high oxophilicity. Herein, a strategy to prepare highly dispersed indium oxide nanoparticles as the precatalyst supported on conductive carbon nanorods from annealing the MIL‐68 (In) precursor is proposed. When assessed in an H‐cell, the product enables CO2 reduction to formate with great faradaic efficiency of around 90% over a wide potential window in 0.5 m KHCO3. When applied in a gas‐diffusion‐electrode‐based flow cell, the catalyst delivers large current density of up to 300 mA cm−2 in 1 m KOH, great formate faradaic efficiency and decent stability. These results indicate the commercial viability of the catalyst even though the carbonate buildup at the gas diffusion electrode remains an issue of future research.

Objective: To determine whether stage 1 hypertension and elevated blood pressure (BP), as defined by the 2017 American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association (ACC/AHA) guidelines, prior to pregnancy contributes to adverse pregnancy outcomes in females who conceived by in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer (IVF–ET). Methods: This retrospective cohort study involved 2239 females who conceived by IVF–ET and delivered live neonates. BPs recorded before IVF–ET were collected. Elevated BP was defined as at least two systolic BPs of 120 to 129 mmHg. Stage 1 hypertension was defined as at least two systolic BPs of 130 to 139 mmHg or diastolic BPs of 80 to 89 mmHg. Results: Among the females included in this study, 18.5% (415/2239) had elevated BP and 10.0% (223/2239) had stage 1 hypertension. Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that females with stage 1 hypertension had higher risks of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy (HDP) [adjusted odds ratio (aOR) 1.65; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.16–2.35] and preeclampsia (aOR 1.52; 95% CI 1.02–2.26) than normotensive females. However, the risks of HDP (aOR 0.88; 95% CI 0.64–1.21) and preeclampsia (aOR 0.83; 95% CI, 0.57–1.20) in females with elevated BP were not significantly different from those in normotensive females. The females were then categorized into five groups by systolic and diastolic BP; females with systolic BP of 130 to 139 mmHg or diastolic BP of 85 to 89 mmHg had significantly increased risks of HDP and preeclampsia. Conclusion: Stage 1 hypertension before IVF–ET was an independent risk factor for HDP and preeclampsia.

Background: Early assessment of carotid atherosclerotic plaque characteristics is essential for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk stratification and prediction. We aimed to identify different trajectories of lipid profiles and investigate the association of lipid trajectories with carotid atherosclerosis (CAS) progression in a large, longitudinal cohort of the Chinese population. Methods: 10,412 participants aged ≥18 years with ≥2 times general health checkups were included in this longitudinally prospective cohort study at Peking University Third Hospital. We used latent class trajectory models to identify trajectories of total cholesterol (TC), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), triglycerides (TG), and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) over follow-up time (757 days, IQR: 388–844 days). Results: Participants with carotid plaque were more likely to be older, male, have higher body mass index, have a higher prevalence of hypertension and diabetes, and have a higher level of blood pressure, TG, TC, and LDL-C, compared with carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT) and normal group. Subjects were trichotomized according to different trajectory patterns into stable, moderate-stable, and elevated-increasing classes. TC ≥ 5.18 mmol/L and moderate-stable class (hazard ratio (HR): 1.416, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.285–1.559, p: 0.000), TG ≥ 1.70 mmol/L and moderate-stable class (HR: 1.492, 95% CI: 1.163–1.913, p: 0.002), TG ≥ 1.70 mmol/L and elevated-increasing class (HR: 1.218, 95% CI: 1.094–1.357, p: 0.000), LDL-C ≥ 3.36 mmol/L and stable class (HR: 1.500, 95% CI: 1.361–1.653, p: 0.000) were statistically significant associated with CAS progression compared with the reference group. Conclusions: Borderline elevated baseline lipid (TC, TG, and LDL-C) with stable and elevated-increasing trajectories were associated with CAS progression. Long-term strategies for low-level lipid are beneficial for ASCVD management.

Asian dust storms can increase the level of atmospheric pollution over regions downwind of dust storms and may have adverse health effects on residents along the sandstorm transmission route. This study was the first to report the concentration levels, properties and possible sources of environmentally persistent free radicals (EPFRs) and oxidative potential in atmospheric PM2.5 at the three sites of Erenhot, Zhangbei, and Jinan along the transport route of Asian dust storms during the occurrence of Asian dust storms in the spring of 2016. Under non-sandstorm weather conditions, the average EPFR concentrations at the three sites were Zhangbei>Jinan>Erenhot, while the PM-induced oxidative potential levels were Erenhot>Jinan>Zhangbei. The PM2.5 concentration increased significantly during dust storm events, and the total atmospheric concentration of EPFRs (spins/m3) and total oxidation potential (a.u./m3) of PM2.5 simultaneously increased. However, the EPFR concentration in PM2.5 (spins/g) and the unit mass of the PM oxidation potential (a.u./g) were significantly reduced. Electron paramagnetic resonance analysis combined with backward trajectory analysis and MODIS products showed that Asian dust storms can carry EPFRs over long distances. Correlation analysis showed that the atmospheric concentrations of EPFRs were positively correlated with elemental carbon (EC) for the Zhangbei and Jinan samples but were not significantly correlated with EC for the Erenhot samples, indicating that combustion may be an important source of EPFRs for the Zhangbei and Jinan samples. In contrast, the EPFRs in the Erenhot samples were more affected by dust/sand. The EPFR concentration levels showed a significant positive correlation with the oxidation potentials for the Erenhot and Zhangbei samples and showed negative correlations for the Jinan samples, suggesting that the EPFRs in the Erenhot and Zhangbei samples may provide an important contribution to the oxidative stress in PM2.5. In contrast, the oxidation potential for the Jinan samples was mainly caused by substances other than EPFRs. This study presents a basic understanding of the potential health effects of Asian dust storms, and this information can be used to assess the health risks of Asian dust storms in future studies. Background: Echinatin (Ech) has been reported to exert antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. In this study, we aimed to characterize the functional role of Ech in myocardial ischemic/reperfusion (MI/R) injury and elucidate its underlying mechanism of action.Method: We established in vivo and in vitro models of MI/R injury to determine the effect of Ech on MI/R injury. Gene expression was examined using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction and western blotting. Myocardial infarction was assessed using tetrazolium chloride staining and the degree of myocardial injury was evaluated by measuring lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and creatine kinase-myocardial band (CK-MB) levels. Cell apoptosis was detected using the terminal deoxynucleotidyl transfer-mediated dUTP nick end-labeling (TUNEL) assay. The viability of H9c2 cells was determined using Cell Counting Kit-8 assay.Results: MI/R induced myocardial infarction, which was mitigated by Ech treatment. Moreover, Ech treatment resulted in a marked decline of LDH and CK-MB levels in the serum and myocardium of MI/R rats. Ech treatment also restrained cardiomyocyte apoptosis in vivo and in vitro, as evidenced by reduction in LDH release, the number of TUNEL-positive cells, and caspase-3 activity. Furthermore, Ech administration inhibited MI/R-induced activation of Hippo/Yes-associated protein signaling in vivo and in vitro, as indicated by inhibition of mammalian sterile 20-like protein kinase 1, large tumor suppressor one, and YAP phosphorylation and promotion of YAP nuclear translocation. However, silencing of YAP counteracted the protective effect of Ech on hypoxia/reoxygenation-induced myocardial injury in vitro.Conclusion: Ech exerted its protective effect against MI/R injury at least partially by suppressing the Hippo/YAP signaling pathway, providing novel insights into the remission of MI/R injury.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are a class of substances that are of general concern in terms of human health and are used to represent the oxidation potential (OP) of the atmosphere. In this study, the ROS levels in 116 daily fine particulate matter (PM2.5) samples taken over Xi'an in 2017 were measured with the dithiothreitol (DTT) method. The sources of DTTv (volume-based DTT consumption) in PM2.5 as well as their contributions were identified by both positive matrix factorization (PMF) and multiple linear regression (MLR) based on the measured chemical species in particulate matter (PM). The results showed that the yearly average DTTv over Xi’an was 0.53 nmol/min/m3 (0.19–1.10 nmol/min/m3). The highest DTTv level occurred in winter, followed by spring, summer and autumn. DTTv was the most strongly correlated with the water-soluble organic carbon (WSOC; r = 0.85), but the effects of WSOC on DTTv were very limited. SO2, NO2, CO, elemental carbon (EC) and K+ (r > 0.64) had moderate correlations with DTTv and were moderately related to environmentally persistent free radicals (EPFRs) (r = 0.56). The linear mixed-effects model showed that pollutants originating from incomplete combustion had greater effects on DTTv than those from complete combustion. Source apportionment results from PMF showed that motor vehicle emissions (27.4%), secondary sulfates (21.6%) and coal combustion sources (18.8%) were more important contributors to the DTTv in PM2.5 than dust sources (8.4%), metal processing (4.9%), industrial emissions (11.3%) and secondary nitrates (7.5%). The PMF results for the DTTv were consistent with the MLR results, which verified that both PMF and MLR are feasible methods for source apportionment of PM2.5 as well as specific species such as ROS and EPFRs. Backward trajectory clusters showed that the dominant cluster groups were local and regional transport, while the OP of the PM2.5 over Xi’an was affected more by long-range transport than by local transport. As stated above, the improvement of atmospheric oxidation potential require not only regional efforts but also large-scale joint cooperation. Accumulating studies have demonstrated that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) act a crucial role in the development of tumors. However, the role of lncRNAs in lung cancer remains largely unknown. In this study, we demonstrated that theexpression of RMRP was upregulated in lung adenocarcinoma tissues compared to the matched adjacent normal tissues. Moreover, of 35 lung adenocarcinoma samples, RMRP expression was upregulated in 25 cases (25/35; 71.4%) compared to the adjacent normal tissues. We also showed that RMRP expression was upregulated in lung adenocarcinoma cell lines (A549, SPC-A1, H1299 and H23) compared to the bronchial epithelial cell line (16HBE). Ectopic expression of RMRP promoted lung adenocarcinoma cell proliferation, colony formation and invasion. In addition, overexpression of RMRP inhibited the miR-206 expression in the H1299 cell and increased the KRAS, FMNL2 and SOX9 expression, which were the target genes of miR-206. Re-expression of miR-206 reversed the RMRP-induced the H1299 cell proliferation and migration. Our data proved that RMRP acted as an oncogene LncRNA to promote the expression of KRAS, FMNL2 and SOX9 by inhibiting miR-206 expression in lung cancer. These data suggested that RMRP might serve as a therapeutic target in lung adenocarcinoma.

The Lower Yangtze River Belt (LYRB) is one of the important magmatic and metallogenic belts in China and hosts abundant Mesozoic calc-alkaline magmatic rocks and economic mineral deposits. Anqing orefield in the southwestern of the LYRB received less attention during the last two decades. Here, we present an integrated study of whole-rock major and trace elements, zircon U-Pb dating and Lu-Hf isotopes on late Mesozoic adakites and A-type granites from the Anqing orefield. The adakites emplaced during 138–136 Ma and can be further subdivided into two types: high-SiO2 adakites (HSA) with SiO2 60 wt % from the Zongpu intrusion, and low-SiO2 adakites (LSA) 60 wt % from the Yueshan intrusion. The rocks display mid- to high-K calc-alkaline features and have consistent arc-like trace element characteristics with enrichment in LREE and LILE, and depletion in HREE and HFSE. The distinct zircon εHf(t) values for the LSA (from −27 to −20) and HSA (from −15 to −5) preclude a magma mixing model, yet suggest a subduction-related setting with partial melting of the subducted slab and overlying metasomatic mantle wedge. The A-type granites dated at 124 Ma from the Dalongshan intrusion characterized by LILE and LREE enrichment and slightly negative Eu anomalies, with lower MgO, CaO but higher K2O and Na2O contents. Their zircon εHf(t) values and geochemical features suggest that the parent magma was produced by the partial melting of Neoproterozoic crustal components, followed by variable degrees of fractional crystallization under a back-arc extensional setting, together with minor juvenile crust input. The adakites and A-type granites investigated in this study record a tectonic transition from compressive to extensional setting during 138–124 Ma. The transitional magmatic pulses are associated with distinct metallogenic signature with the adakites hosting copper deposits and the A-type granites linked to uranium mineralization.

High-throughput screening for interactions of peptides with a variety of antibody targets could greatly facilitate proteomic analysis for epitope mapping, enzyme profiling, drug discovery and biomarker identification. Peptide microarrays are suited for such undertaking because of their high-throughput capability. However, existing peptide microarrays lack the sensitivity needed for detecting low abundance proteins or low affinity peptide-protein interactions. This work presents a new peptide microarray platform constructed on nanostructured plasmonic gold substrates capable of metal enhanced NIR fluorescence enhancement (NIR-FE) by hundreds of folds for screening peptide-antibody interactions with ultrahigh sensitivity. Further, an integrated histone peptide and whole antigen array is developed on the same plasmonic gold chip for profiling human antibodies in the sera of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients, revealing that collectively a panel of biomarkers against unmodified and post-translationally modified histone peptides and several whole antigens allow more accurate differentiation of SLE patients from healthy individuals than profiling biomarkers against peptides or whole antigens alone.

Abstract The recent colder winters in midlatitude Eurasia have been proposed to result from Arctic sea-ice decline. However, large uncertainties remain regarding this link in the present variable climate. Here, we present ice-rafted debris records from the eastern Arctic and geochemical data from the temperate East China Sea to reconstruct Holocene changes in sea ice and the East Asian winter monsoon. Our reconstructions and climate numerical simulations revealed enhanced Arctic sea-ice decline but warmer winters in East Asia in the mid-Holocene than in the late Holocene. In the warmer mid-Holocene, enhanced Arctic sea-ice loss transferred more heat from intensive summer solar insolation to the winter atmosphere, suppressing meridional heat transport; thus, less high-latitude cold air moved to lower latitudes in Asia due to the weakened winter monsoon. Our findings imply that the colder winters in East Asia may not change the long-term trend toward winter warming in the context of Arctic sea-ice decline.
