Abstract Background Computed tomography (CT) reconstruction algorithms can improve image quality, especially deep learning reconstruction (DLR). We compared DLR, iterative reconstruction (IR), and filtered back projection (FBP) for lesion detection in neck CT. Methods Nine patient-mimicking neck phantoms were examined with a 320-slice scanner at six doses: 0.5, 1, 1.6, 2.1, 3.1, and 5.2 mGy. Each of eight phantoms contained one circular lesion (diameter 1 cm; contrast -30 HU to the background) in the parapharyngeal space; one phantom had no lesions. Reconstruction was made using FBP, IR, and DLR. Thirteen readers were tasked with identifying and localizing lesions in 32 images with a lesion and 20 without lesions for each dose and reconstruction algorithm. Abstract Mitigating pre-harvest sprouting (PHS) and post-harvest food loss (PHFL) is essential for enhancing food securrity. To reduce food loss, the use of plant derived specialized metabolites can represent a good approach to develop a more eco-friendly agriculture. Here, we have discovered that soybean seeds hidden underground during winter by Tscherskia triton and Apodemus agrarius during winter possess a higher concentration of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) compared to those remaining exposed in fields. This selection by rodents suggests that among the identified volatiles, 3-FurAldehyde (Fur) and (E)-2-Heptenal (eHep) effectively inhibit the growth of plant pathogens such as Aspergillus flavus, Alternaria alternata, Fusarium solani and Pseudomonas syringae. Additionally, compounds such as Camphene (Cam), 3-FurAldehyde, and (E)-2-Heptenal, suppress the germination of seeds in crops including soybean, rice, maize, and wheat. Importantly, some of these VOCs also prevent rice seeds from pre-harvest sprouting. Consequently, our findings offer straightforward and practical approaches to seed protection and the reduction of PHS and PHFL, indicating potential new pathways for breeding, and reducing both PHS and pesticide usage in agriculture.

Objective With the increase in underground engineering projects, more and more projects are adopting in-situ protection technology targeting the issues caused by relocating urban underground high-voltage cables. Therefore, it is necessary to study the in-situ protection of underground high-voltage cables crossing metro foundation pit. Method Taking a metro station of Foshan Metro Line 2 Phase I project as example, the in-situ protection method of closing the enclosure structure without special techniques is analyzed when 200 kV high-voltage cables crossing the metro foundation pit. The in-situ protection measures at the intersection of pipelines and enclosure structure are introduced, along with the in-situ protection measures and calculation methods for pipelines within the foundation pit. The effectiveness of the proposed protection method is verified through construction and on-site implementation. Result & Conclusion Due to the significant impact on the safety of foundation pit, the in-situ protection at the intersection of underground cables and the enclosure structure is of utmost importance. When geological conditions are favorable, the enclosure structure construction is unnecessary at the intersection of underground cables and enclosure structure. Prior to foundation pit excavation, reinforcement and improvement measures such as jet grouting piles, MJS (metro jet system) piles, or grouting can be applied to surrounding strata. Concrete baffles can be constructed reversely at the gap of the enclosure structure during foundation pit vertical excavation process. In-situ protection of underground cables within the foundation pit can adopt suspension protection measures such as Bailey frame based on stress calculations. For foundation pit with a larger span, temporary columns can be installed in the middle of the foundation pit for span reduction.

Abstract Background Depression and sleep disturbances are associated with increased risks of various diseases and mortality, but their impacts on mortality in cancer survivors remain unclear. The objective of this study was to characterize the independent and joint associations of depressive symptoms and sleep disturbances with mortality outcomes in cancer survivors. Methods This population-based prospective cohort study included cancer survivors aged ≥ 20 years (n = 2947; weighted population, 21,003,811) from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2007–2018 cycles. Depressive symptoms and sleep disturbances were self-reported. Depressive symptoms were assessed using the Patient Health Questionnaire 9 (PHQ-9). Death outcomes were determined by correlation with National Death Index records through December 31, 2019. Primary outcomes included all-cause, cancer-specific, and noncancer mortality. Results During the median follow-up of 69 months (interquartile range, 37–109 months), 686 deaths occurred: 240 participants died from cancer, 146 from heart disease, and 300 from other causes. Separate analyses revealed that compared with a PHQ-9 score (0–4), a PHQ-9 score (5–9) was associated with a greater risk of all-cause mortality (hazard ratio [HR], 1.28; 95% CI, 1.03–1.59), and a PHQ-9 score (≥ 10) was associated with greater risk of all-cause mortality (HR, 1.37; 95% CI, 1.04–1.80) and noncancer mortality (HR, 1.45; 95% CI, 1.01–2.10). Single sleep disturbances were not associated with mortality risk. In joint analyses, the combination of a PHQ-9 score ≥ 5 and no sleep disturbances, but not sleep disturbances, was associated with increased risks of all-cause mortality, cancer-specific mortality, and noncancer mortality. Specifically, compared with individuals with a PHQ-9 score of 0–4 and no sleep disturbances, HRs for all-cause mortality and noncancer mortality in individuals with a PHQ-9 score of 5–9 and no sleep disturbances were 1.72 (1.21–2.44) and 1.69 (1.10–2.61), respectively, and 2.61 (1.43–4.78) and 2.77 (1.27–6.07), respectively, in individuals with a PHQ-9 score ≥ 10 and no sleep disturbances; HRs for cancer-specific mortality in individuals with a PHQ-9 score ≥ 5 and no sleep disturbances were 1.95 (1.16–3.27). Conclusions Depressive symptoms were linked to a high risk of mortality in cancer survivors. The combination of a PHQ-9 score (≥ 5) and an absence of self-perceived sleep disturbances was associated with greater all-cause mortality, cancer-specific mortality, and noncancer mortality risks, particularly in individuals with a PHQ-9 score (≥ 10).

BackgroundMajor depressive disorder is one of the most disabling mental diseases. Currently， medication in combination with physiotherapy and psychotherapy remains the most commonly used treatment modality for the disease， whereas only a few randomized controlled studies have been conducted on physiotherapy， and even fewer studies have focused on medication combined with physiotherapy.ObjectiveTo explore the efficacy and safety profile of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation （rTMS） versus modified electroconvulsive therapy （MECT） in combination with antidepressants in the treatment of major depressive disorder， so as to provide an optimized treatment plan for patients with major depressive disorder.MethodsPatients with major depressive disorder （n=335） hospitalized in Shandong Daizhuang Hospital from January 1， 2019 to April 30， 2023 were included， all of whom met the diagnostic criteria of the International Classification of Diseases， tenth edition （ICD-10）. Depending on their disease condition， patients were subjected to either MECT in combination with drugs （n=141） or rTMS in combination with drugs （n=194） after admission. Depressive symptoms were assessed using Hamilton Depression Scale-24 item （HAMD-24） at the baseline and the end of the 1st， 2nd， 3rd and 4th week of treatment， and the adverse reactions were documented in patient's medical records.ResultsAnalysis of variance on HAMD-24 revealed a significant effect of time （F=3.081， P=0.042）， but no effect of group （F=1.023， P=0.313）， and the interaction effect between the time and the groups was not statistically significant （F=1.642， P=0.191）. No statistical difference was reported between two groups in response rate and full remission rate （P>0.05）. Throughout the course of treatment， 58 cases （41.13%） of recent memory impairment and 74 cases （52.48%） of headache or neck muscle pain occurred in MECT combined with drugs group， and 27 cases （13.92%） in rTMS combined with drugs group experienced headache or head skin discomfort.ConclusionAntidepressants in combination with rTMS or MECT show equivalent efficacy in the treatment of major depressive disorder， while rTMS combined with antidepressants demonstrates a superior safety profile compared to MECT.

Abstract Utrophin (UTRN), known as a tumor suppressor, potentially regulates tumor development and the immune microenvironment. However, its impact on breast cancer’s development and treatment remains unstudied. We conducted a thorough examination of UTRN using both bioinformatic and in vitro experiments in this study. We discovered UTRN expression decreased in breast cancer compared to standard samples. High UTRN expression correlated with better prognosis. Drug sensitivity tests and RT-qPCR assays revealed UTRN’s pivotal role in tamoxifen resistance. Furthermore, the Kruskal–Wallis rank test indicated UTRN’s potential as a valuable diagnostic biomarker for breast cancer and its utility in detecting T stage of breast cancer. Additionally, our results demonstrated UTRN’s close association with immune cells, inhibitors, stimulators, receptors, and chemokines in breast cancer (BRCA). This research provides a novel perspective on UTRN’s role in breast cancer’s prognostic and therapeutic value. Low UTRN expression may contribute to tamoxifen resistance and a poor prognosis. Specifically, UTRN can improve clinical decision-making and raise the diagnosis accuracy of breast cancer.

Summary: The ocean ranch environment contains ultra-low-frequency wave energy that can be utilized for powering low-power equipment. Therefore, this article proposes a smart ocean ranch self-powered and self-monitoring system (SOR-SSS) which consists of several key components: a mass pendulum ball (MPB), a commutation wheel system (CWS), an electromagnetic energy harvesting unit (EEHU), and four piezoelectric energy harvesting units (PEHU). Through six-degree-of-freedom vibration test bench experiments, the SOR-SSS achieved a maximum output power of 17.56 mW under a working condition of 0.4 Hz, which was sufficient to power 152 LED lights. Additionally, by training the experimental base data using the LSTM algorithm, two different tasks were trained with a maximum accuracy of 99.72% and 99.80%, respectively. These results indicate that the SOR-SSS holds significant potential for collecting and predicting ultra-low-frequency blue energy. It can provide an effective energy supply and monitoring solution for smart ocean ranch.

The formation of intelligent platforms is a multi-objective constraint problem. It is necessary for the multi-agent to automatically generate the path from the initial position to the specified end point, and at the same time meet the constraints of space collision avoidance on the multi-target intersection path and the constraint of the agent’s motion ability, and pursue the shortest formation time of the whole formation as much as possible. In this paper, we propose an improved method for obtaining the starting set of multi-agent formation based on particle swarm optimization. First, the starting point set of the formation is defined, and then the particle swarm optimization algorithm is selected as the optimization algorithm to find the best starting point of the formation. Then the turning performance of the intelligent platform is studied, and the assembly route of each agent is designed by combining the Dubins curve. The simulation results show that the proposed method avoids collision between agents, shortens the time of agent formation assembly, and effectively ensures the reliability of the assembly route.

The instrumented indentation approach has become popular to characterize the mechanical properties of metals on-site. Although the evaluation of the materials' strength of metal structures is possible using the instrumented indentation approach, a few research studies have been reported to determine the strength of the steels presenting Lüders behavior. This paper presented a series of experiments including instrumented indentation and tensile tests, and proposed a method to evaluate the yield strength of steels presenting Lüders behavior. A steel truss bridge is used in the on-site benchmark experiment to verify the feasibility and reliability of the instrumented indentation approach. Tensile tests in the laboratory were conducted to obtain the accurate strength of steel from the steel truss bridge. The instrumented indentation tests were done on members of the steel truss bridge and the tensile test specimens. The strength from the instrumented indentation tests was compared with those from tensile tests. The comparison results are used to discuss the accuracy and precision of the instrumented indentation approach. The results indicate that the instrumented indentation approach is a feasible and sufficiently accurate method for measuring the strength of steel components. The difference of the yield strength is about 10%, and the difference of the tensile strength is around 5%. A method to improve the measured accuracy of yield strength is proposed. By using the proposed method, the difference of the yield strength for steels presenting Lüders behavior is less than 5%.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is the expansion of the prostate gland that results in urinary symptoms. Both the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and the Wnt signaling pathway are associated with BPH pathology. In this study, we find that miR-1202 is increased in BPH samples. Overexpression of miR-1202 in TGF-β-treated BPH-1 cells enhances cell survival and DNA synthesis and inhibits cell apoptosis, whereas miR-1202 inhibition partially abolishes the effects of TGF-β on BPH-1 cells. miR-1202 overexpression reduces E-cadherin level but elevates vimentin, N-cadherin, and snail levels, whereas miR-1202 inhibition partially attenuates the effects of TGF-β on EMT markers. Regarding the Wnt/β-catenin pathway, miR-1202 overexpression significantly enhances, whereas miR-1202 inhibition partially decreases, the promotive effects of TGF-β on Wnt1, c-Myc, and cyclin D1 proteins. 3-Hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA lyase (HMGCL) is a direct downstream target of miR-1202, and miR-1202 inhibits HMGCL expression through binding to its 3′UTR. Overexpression of HMGCL significantly reduces the effect of miR-1202 overexpression on the phenotypes of BPH-1 cells by inhibiting cell survival and promoting apoptosis. Similarly, HMGCL overexpression has the opposite effects on EMT markers and the Wnt/β-catenin signaling, and markedly alleviates the effects of miR-1202 overexpression. Finally, in the BPH rat model, Ki67 and vimentin levels are elevated, but E-cadherin and HMGCL levels are reduced. In conclusion, miR-1202 is upregulated in benign prostatic hyperplasia; miR-1202 enhances epithelial cell proliferation, suppresses cell apoptosis, and promotes EMT by targeting HMGCL. The Wnt/β-catenin pathway may participate in the miR-1202/HMGCL axis-mediated regulation of BPH-1 cell phenotypes.

Abstract Physical exercise intervention can significantly improve the liver of patients with Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), but it is unknown which exercise mode has the best effect on liver improvement in NAFLD patients. Therefore, we systematically evaluated the effect of exercise therapy on liver and blood index function of NAFLD patients through network meta-analysis (NMA). Through systematic retrieval of PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, EBSCO, and CNKI (National Knowledge Infrastructure), two reviewers independently screened the literature, extracted data, and assessed the risk of bias of the included studies by means of databases from inception to January 2023. The NMA was performed using the inconsistency model. A total of 43 studies, 2070 NAFLD patients were included: aerobic training (n = 779), resistance training (n = 159), high-intensity interval training (n = 160), aerobic training + resistance training (n = 96). The results indicate that aerobic training + resistance training could significantly improve serum total cholesterol (TC) (Surface under the cumulative ranking curve (SUCRA) = 71.7), triglyceride (TG) (SUCRA = 96.8), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) (SUCRA = 86.1) in patients with NAFLD including triglycerides. Aerobic training is the best mode to improve ALT (SUCRA = 83.9) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) (SUCRA = 72.3). Resistance training is the best mode to improve aspartate transaminase (AST) (SUCRA = 81.7). Taking various benefits into account, we believe that the best modality of exercise for NAFLD patients is aerobic training + resistance training. In our current network meta-analysis, these exercise methods have different effects on the six indicators of NAFLD, which provides some reference for further formulating exercise prescription for NAFLD patients.

Abstract Objectives To examine the relationships between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and developing sarcopenia in older adults and the modifying effects of active social participation. Methods This prospective cohort study used survey data from the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study, including baseline surveys from 2011, follow-up data from 2013, follow-up data from 2015, and information on ACEs from the 2014 Life History Survey. Information concerning 10 ACEs, including five threat-related ACEs and five deprivation-related ACEs before 17 years of age was obtained by questionnaires through face-to-face interviews. Sarcopenia status was assessed according to the Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia 2019 algorithm, consisted of low muscle mass, and low muscle strength, or poor physical performance. The relationship between ACEs, social participation, and sarcopenia was evaluated using Cox proportional hazard regression models. Results The study population comprised 6859 older adults in main analyses. Having experienced ≥ 3 ACEs led to an increased 31% risk of developing sarcopenia (hazard ratio [HR]:1.31, 95% confidence interval [CI]:1.10–1.56). Participants having experienced ≥ 2 threat-related ACEs (HR:1.22, 95%CI:1.04–1.43) or deprivation-related ACEs (HR:1.22, 95%CI:1.02–1.46) had a 22% higher risk of developing sarcopenia. The spatial layout of hospitals shows constant intersection of streamlines with the patients in different kinds of needs finding their path to various service facilities. Along with COVID pandemic, low-trust psychology raises among social relationships, which has brought significant changes during space planning process. This paper aimed at the lack of specific technical methods for flow simulation and spatial layout for hospital buildings. To simulate hospital crowd behaviors, this paper first proposes a novel low-trust social force model. Then, based on medical process analysis, hospital space survey, and infection theory, the simulation model was established. After that, the original and planned layouts were simulated, and key performance metrics were calculated. Results are visualized and the impact of different forms of hospital space layout and service facility layout are analyzed. Finally, optimization suggestions are proposed, which can provide a basis for hospital space and facility layout evaluation while reducing the cost of frequent hospital renovations. Based on computer simulation with new LtSFM, this method has the advantage of accurate patient crowd prediction and lead to effective space layout planning. Applications in a real-world hospital showed that the proposed method can predict the bottleneck of the layout capacity of hospital space facilities and propose corresponding improvement measures, thereby reducing the hidden risk of passenger flow gathering, improving the service level of facilities, and reducing overall infection risks.

Abstract Background Ambient fine particulate matter (PM2.5) is considered a plausible contributor to the onset of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Mechanistic studies are needed to augment the causality of epidemiologic findings. In this study, we aimed to test the hypothesis that repeated exposure to diesel exhaust particles (DEP), a model PM2.5, causes COPD-like pathophysiologic alterations, consequently leading to the development of specific disease phenotypes. Sprague Dawley rats, representing healthy lungs, were randomly assigned to inhale filtered clean air or DEP at a steady-state concentration of 1.03 mg/m3 (mass concentration), 4 h per day, consecutively for 2, 4, and 8 weeks, respectively. Pulmonary inflammation, morphologies and function were examined. Results Black carbon (a component of DEP) loading in bronchoalveolar lavage macrophages demonstrated a dose-dependent increase in rats following DEP exposures of different durations, indicating that DEP deposited and accumulated in the peripheral lung. Total wall areas (WAt) of small airways, but not of large airways, were significantly increased following DEP exposures, compared to those following filtered air exposures. Consistently, the expression of α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) in peripheral lung was elevated following DEP exposures. Fibrosis areas surrounding the small airways and content of hydroxyproline in lung tissue increased significantly following 4-week and 8-week DEP exposure as compared to the filtered air controls. In addition, goblet cell hyperplasia and mucus hypersecretions were evident in small airways following 4-week and 8-week DEP exposures. Lung resistance and total lung capacity were significantly increased following DEP exposures. Serum levels of two oxidative stress biomarkers (MDA and 8-OHdG) were significantly increased. A dramatical recruitment of eosinophils (14.0-fold increase over the control) and macrophages (3.2-fold increase) to the submucosa area of small airways was observed following DEP exposures. Conclusions DEP exposures over the courses of 2 to 8 weeks induced COPD-like pathophysiology in rats, with characteristic small airway remodeling, mucus hypersecretion, and eosinophilic inflammation. The results provide insights on the pathophysiologic mechanisms by which PM2.5 exposures cause COPD especially the eosinophilic phenotype.

Traditional transfer diagnosis models for internal combustion engines show a decrease in generalization ability due to the multisource features aliasing in vibration signals and the effect of variable operating conditions. To address this problem, this paper proposes a transfer diagnosis model based on the deep subdomain adaptive network framework. To address feature aliasing, based on minimizing amplitude moment and reconstruction loss, a new adaptive decomposition layer is designed and embedded into the framework to decompose complex signals into single-impact components in time domain. To alleviate the effect of operating conditions, a new constraint for minimizing signal feature variance loss is designed and introduced into the framework’s loss function. This constraint calculates the variance of the sample features of the same fault label under variable operating conditions, aiming to excavate invariant features of operating conditions and complete feature mapping of domain adaptation. Validation with experimental data yields an accuracy of 94.81%.

Abstract Background Sphaeropteris brunoniana and Alsophila latebrosa are both old relict and rare tree ferns, which have experienced the constant changes of climate and environment. However, little is known about their high-quality genetic information and related research on environmental adaptation mechanisms of them. In this study, combined with PacBio and Illumina platforms, transcriptomic analysis was conducted on the roots, rachis, and pinna of S. brunoniana and A. latebrosa to identify genes and pathways involved in environmental adaptation. Additionally, based on the transcriptomic data of tree ferns, chloroplast genes were mined to analyze their gene expression levels and RNA editing events. Results In the study, we obtained 11,625, 14,391 and 10,099 unigenes of S. brunoniana root, rachis, and pinna, respectively. Similarly, a total of 13,028, 11,431 and 12,144 unigenes were obtained of A. latebrosa root, rachis, and pinna, respectively. According to the enrichment results of differentially expressed genes, a large number of differentially expressed genes were enriched in photosynthesis and secondary metabolic pathways of S. brunoniana and A. latebrosa. Based on gene annotation results and phenylpropanoid synthesis pathways, two lignin synthesis pathways (H-lignin and G-lignin) were characterized of S. brunoniana. Among secondary metabolic pathways of A. latebrosa, three types of WRKY transcription factors were identified. Additionally, based on transcriptome data obtained in this study, reported transcriptome data, and laboratory available transcriptome data, positive selection sites were identified from 18 chloroplast protein-coding genes of four tree ferns. Among them, RNA editing was found in positive selection sites of four tree ferns. RNA editing affected the protein secondary structure of the rbcL gene. Furthermore, the expression level of chloroplast genes indicated high expression of genes related to the chloroplast photosynthetic system in all four species. Conclusions Overall, this work provides a comprehensive transcriptome resource of S. brunoniana and A. latebrosa, laying the foundation for future tree fern research.

Objective: The effects of freezing method and storage temperature on the quality of large yellow croaker during storage were investigated. Methods: Fresh large yellow croaker fillets were frozen with dry ice and air freezing (-40 ℃) to the central temperature of -18 ℃, and then stored at -40 ℃ and -18 ℃, respectively. Physical and chemical indexes such as freezing curve, ice crystal morphology, pH value, volatile base nitrogen, K value, Ca2+-ATPase activity, total sulfhydryl group, carbonyl group, protein degradation and texture characteristics of large yellow croaks were determined after freezing and during freezing storage. Results: The time of dry ice freezing through the maximum ice crystal formation zone was 40 min, which is 1/6 of that of air freezing at -40 ℃. The initial ice crystal cross-section area and equivalent diameter of dry ice frozen fish samples were (96.12±1.61) μm2 and (11.06±1.43) μm, respectively, which is significantly lower than that of air frozen fish samples. Conclusion: The effect of freezing temperature on fish myofibrillator protein was greater than that of freezing temperature, and a lower freezing temperature can result in a lower degradation degree of fish myofibrillator protein. Storage at -40 ℃ after dry ice freezing is beneficial to maintain freshness and quality stability of large yellow croaker.

As a key soil carbon process, changes in plant root growth may have a dramatic impact on the global ecosystem’s carbon cycle. Fine root functional traits and fine root biomass can be used as important indexes of plant root growth. Compared with the much better understood relationships between aboveground plant functional traits and aboveground biomass, knowledge on the relationships between fine root functional traits and belowground biomass still remains limited. In this study, plant fine roots in 30 abandoned lands, 9 woodlands, 29 alfalfa grasslands, 30 Caragana shrublands and 29 croplands were sampled at 0–20 and 20–40 cm soil depths in Zhonglianchuan, Yuzhong County, Gansu Province, China (36°02′ N, 104°24′ E), to clarify the characteristics of the relationships between fine root functional traits (e.g., diameter, specific root area (SRA) and specific root length (SRL)) and fine root biomass at 0–20 and 20–40 cm soil depths. The results showed that the relationships between the fine root functional traits and fine root biomass in these ecosystems were robust, allowing for the use of an allometric growth model at both 0–20 and 20–40 cm soil depths (p < 0.05). Specifically, the relationship between root diameter and fine root biomass was consistent with highly significant positive power, while highly significant negative power relationships of SRA and SRL with fine root biomass were observed (p < 0.01, except the root diameter–biomass models in the woodlands in the 0–20 cm soil layer (p = 0.017) and 20–40 cm soil layer (p = 0.025)). The results can provide some parameters for these terrestrial ecosystem process models. From this perspective, our study is beneficial in the construction of suitable strategies to increase plant biomass, which will help with the restoration of the semi-arid region of the Loess Plateau of China.

Based on the observed biological activity of 1,2,4-triazin-5-one derivatives and their cyclic analogues, a novel series of 7H-thiazolo[3,2-b]-1,2,4-triazin-7-one derivatives that contain ester moiety compounds 3a-3g, carboxylic acid moiety compounds 4a-4g and piperazine amide moiety compounds 5a-5k at position-3 of the thiazolotriazinone scaffold were synthesized. The intermolecular cyclization occurred regioselectively at N2-position of 1,2,4-triazine ring was characterized by X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis. The in vitro biological activities of the target compounds were assayed against some bacterial strains. Compared with ciprofloxacin, compounds 3g and 4g exhibited more excellent antibacterial activity, especially the activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, showing that the fluorine at the para position of the benzyl group would be the best choice. In addition, compounds 4e-4g with carboxylic acid moiety can enhance the antibacterial activity. Compounds 5g-5k containing bulky 1-(substituted phenyl)piperazine moiety were found with slightly less biological activity. Similar to ciprofloxacin, the docking result of target compounds with DNA topoisomerase II indicates the carboxyl group of the target compounds with carboxylic acid moiety has a crucial salt bridge interaction with Mg2+ in the protein.

Background and objectives: Strokes will result in decreased in cortical excitability and changed in the balance between the affected and unaffected hemispheres. Previous studies have focused on cortical changes in healthy subjects during swallowing, while they remain unknown in patients with stroke at different locations. Thus, the purpose of this study was to research cortical activation patterns of swallowing in patients with dysphagia and healthy subjects by the functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS). We also focus on the comparability of brain activation areas associated with swallowing between patients with different stroke locations and healthy subjects. Methods: total of 104 participants were invited to our study, involving 86 patients with dysphagic unilateral hemispheric stroke and 18 age and sex matched healthy controls. The stroke patients were categorized into patients with left unilateral stroke lesions (n = 30), patients with right unilateral stroke lesions (n = 32) and patients with brainstem injury (n = 24) according to different stroke sites. All patients underwent a series of clinical swallowing function assessments, such as the Fiberoptic endoscopic dysphagia severity scale (FEDSS), penetration-aspiration scale (PAS) of Rosenbek, the gugging swallowing screen (GUSS) and the functional oral Intake scale (FOIS) after informed consent has been signed. BackgroundPathological complete response (pCR) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) is associated with favorable outcomes in breast cancer patients. Identifying reliable predictors for pCR can assist in selecting patients who will derive the most benefit from NAC. The prognostic nutritional index (PNI) serves as an indicator of nutritional status and systemic immune competence. It has emerged as a prognostic biomarker in several malignancies; however, its predictive value for pCR in breast cancer remains uncertain. The objective of this study is to assess the predictive value of pretreatment PNI for pCR in breast cancer patients.MethodsA total of 1170 patients who received NAC in two centers were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into three cohorts: a training cohort (n=545), an internal validation cohort (n=233), and an external validation cohort (n=392). Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to assess the predictive value of PNI and other clinicopathological factors. A stepwise logistic regression model for pCR based on the smallest Akaike information criterion was utilized to develop a nomogram. The C-index, calibration plots and decision curve analysis (DCA) were used to evaluate the discrimination, calibration and clinical value of the model.ResultsPatients with a high PNI (≥53) had a significantly increased pCR rate (OR 2.217, 95% CI 1.215-4.043, p=0.009). Tumor size, clinical nodal status, histological grade, ER, Ki67 and PNI were identified as independent predictors and included in the final model. A nomogram was developed as a graphical representation of the model, which incorporated the PNI and five other factors (AIC=356.13). The nomogram demonstrated satisfactory calibration and discrimination in the training cohort (C-index: 0.816, 95% CI 0.765-0.866), the internal validation cohort (C-index: 0.780, 95% CI 0.697-0.864) and external validation cohort (C-index: 0.714, 95% CI 0.660-0.769). Furthermore, DCA indicated a clinical net benefit from the nomogram.ConclusionThe pretreatment PNI is a reliable predictor for pCR in breast cancer patients. The PNI-based nomogram is a low-cost, noninvasive tool with favorable predictive accuracy for pCR, which can assist in determining individualized treatment strategies for breast cancer patients.

SignificanceOil crops play a significant role in the food supply, as well as the important source of edible vegetable oils and plant proteins. Real-time, dynamic and large-scale monitoring of oil crop growth is essential in guiding agricultural production, stabilizing markets, and maintaining health. Previous studies have made a considerable progress in the yield simulation of staple crops in regional scale based on remote sensing methods, but the yield simulation of oil crops in regional scale is still poor as its complexity of the plant traits and structural characteristics. Therefore, it is urgently needed to study regional oil crop yield estimation based on remote sensing technology.ProgressThis paper summarized the content of remote sensing technology in oil crop monitoring from three aspects: backgrounds, progressions, opportunities and challenges. Firstly, significances and advantages of using remote sensing technology to estimate the of oil crops have been expounded. It is pointed out that both parameter inversion and crop area monitoring were the vital components of yield estimation. Secondly, the current situation of oil crop monitoring was summarized based on remote sensing technology from three aspects of remote sensing parameter inversion, crop area monitoring and yield estimation. For parameter inversion, it is specified that optical remote sensors were used more than other sensors in oil crops inversion in previous studies. Then, advantages and disadvantages of the empirical model and physical model inversion methods were analyzed. In addition, advantages and disadvantages of optical and microwave data were further illustrated from the aspect of oil crops structure and traits characteristics. At last, optimal choice on the data and methods were given in oil crop parameter inversion. For crop area monitoring, this paper mainly elaborated from two parts of optical and microwave remote sensing data. Combined with the structure of oil crops and the characteristics of planting areas, the researches on area monitoring of oil crops based on different types of remote sensing data sources were reviewed, including the advantages and limitations of different data sources in area monitoring. Then, two yield estimation methods were introduced: remote sensing yield estimation and data assimilation yield estimation. The phenological period of oil crop yield estimation, remote sensing data source and modeling method were summarized. Next, data assimilation technology was introduced, and it was proposed that data assimilation technology has great potential in oil crop yield estimation, and the assimilation research of oil crops was expounded from the aspects of assimilation method and grid selection. All of them indicate that data assimilation technology could improve the accuracy of regional yield estimation of oil crops. Thirdly, this paper pointed out the opportunities of remote sensing technology in oil crop monitoring, put forward some problems and challenges in crop feature selection, spatial scale determination and remote sensing data source selection of oil crop yield, and forecasted the development trend of oil crop yield estimation research in the future.Conclusions and ProspectsThe paper puts forward the following suggestions for the three aspects: (1) Regarding crop feature selection, when estimating yields for oil crops such as rapeseed and soybeans, which have active photosynthesis in siliques or pods, relying solely on canopy leaf area index (LAI) as the assimilation state variable for crop yield estimation may result in significant underestimation of yields, thereby impacting the accuracy of regional crop yield simulation. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the crop plant characteristics and the agronomic mechanism of yield formation through siliques or pods when estimating yields for oil crops. (2) In determining the spatial scale, some oil crops are distributed in hilly and mountainous areas with mixed land cover. Using regularized yield simulation grids may result in the confusion of numerous background objects, introducing additional errors and affecting the assimilation accuracy of yield estimation. This poses a challenge to yield estimation research. Thus, it is necessary to choose appropriate methods to divide irregular unit grids and determine the optimal scale for yield estimation, thereby improving the accuracy of yield estimation. (3) In terms of remote sensing data selection, the monitoring of oil crops can be influenced by crop structure and meteorological conditions. Depending solely on spectral data monitoring may have a certain impact on yield estimation results. It is important to incorporate radar off-nadir remote sensing measurement techniques to perceive the response relationship between crop leaves and siliques or pods and remote sensing data parameters. This can bridge the gap between crop characteristics and remote sensing information for crop yield simulation. This paper can serve as a valuable reference and stimulus for further research on regional yield estimation and growth monitoring of oil crops. It supplements existing knowledge and provides insightful considerations for enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of oil crop production monitoring and management.

Phosphor-in-glass (PiG) film is a promising luminescent material in high-brightness laser lighting for its advantages of high efficiency, outstanding color quality, and low-cost preparation, which must bear high laser power (LP) and laser power density (LPD) simultaneously to enable high-luminance light. Herein, laser spot associated high-saturation PiG film was proposed for transmissive and reflective high-brightness laser lighting. Two types of PiG films were prepared by printing and sintering La3Si6N11:Ce3+ (LSN) phosphor-borosilicate glass pastes on a sapphire substrate (PiG-S) and an AlN substrate (PiG-A), respectively. The PiG films with perfect crystal structure of phosphor were reliably bonded on the substrates. The effects of laser spot areas on the luminescence saturation of LP and LPD were investigated in the PiG films. With the increase of laser spot area from 0.5 to 2.5 mm2, the LP threshold of PiG films is gradually raised, while the LPD threshold of PiG films is decreased. The PiG-S withstands a high LP of 23.46 W and a high LPD of 20.64 W/mm2, enabling white light with a luminous flux of 3677 lm. The PiG-A withstands a high LP of 41.12 W and a high LPD of 35.56 W/mm2, enabling white light with a luminous flux of 2882 lm. Moreover, the PiG-A maintains lower working temperature compared with the PiG-S, and the temperatures reduce with the increasing laser spot area. The results demonstrate that the laser spot associated PiG films realize high saturation thresholds of LP and LPD simultaneously, and enable high luminance for laser lighting.

The unloading effect is an important factor for the failure of surrounding rock in deep underground engineering projects, especially under high-stress conditions. To investigate the deformation and failure characteristics of sandstone at different unloading rates, the evolution law of the surrounding rock stress caused by excavation was clarified. Then, the single-side unloading test of surrounding rock at different unloading rates was conducted using a true triaxial rock mechanics test system. During the test, the acoustic emission (AE) signals were monitored using an AE monitoring system. The test results show that excavation disturbance leads to complete single-side unloading at the boundary of the surrounding rock, and partial single-side unloading occurs as the depth of the surrounding rock increases. The ultimate strength of the sandstone specimen decreases as a power function with the increasing unloading rate. The unloading rock mass is mainly subject to shear failure. However, the increasing unloading rate raises the proportion of tension cracks. The sudden high strain rate on the unloading side can be used as precursor information of rock fracture, which can effectively prevent accidents caused by loss of rock bearing capacity. The AE signal is active and releases less energy in the unloading stage. At this time, the internal fractures are in the development stage, and the energy is still mainly accumulated. The unloading and failure are not synchronized but suffer from the hysteresis effect. Additionally, the AE and the strain rate change on the unloading side are consistent. Due to the hysteresis effect of damage on unloading, anchor bolts (cables) should be installed to support the surrounding rock immediately to compensate for the stress loss caused by excavation in engineering practice.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a burgeoning public health challenge worldwide. Individuals with T2DM are at increased risk for skeletal muscle atrophy, a serious complication that significantly compromises quality of life and for which effective prevention measures are currently inadequate. Emerging evidence indicates that systemic and local inflammation stemming from the compromised intestinal barrier is one of the crucial mechanisms contributing to skeletal muscle atrophy in T2DM patients. Notably, natural plant polysaccharides were found to be capable of enhancing intestinal barrier function and mitigating secondary inflammation in some diseases. Herein, we hypothesized that Grifola frondosa polysaccharide (GFP), one of the major plant polysaccharides, could prevent skeletal muscle atrophy in T2DM via regulating intestinal barrier function and inhibiting systemic and local inflammation. Using a well-established T2DM rat model, we demonstrated that GFP was able to not only prevent hyperglycemia and insulin resistance but also repair intestinal mucosal barrier damage and subsequent inflammation, thereby alleviating the skeletal muscle atrophy in the T2DM rat model. Additionally, the binding free energy analysis and molecular docking of monosaccharides constituting GFP were further expanded for related targets to uncover more potential mechanisms. These results provide a novel preventative and therapeutic strategy for T2DM patients.

With the processes of industrialization and urbanization, heavy metal ion pollution has become a thorny problem in water systems. Among the various technologies developed for the removal of heavy metal ions, the adsorption method is widely studied by researchers and various nanomaterials with good adsorption performances have been prepared during the past decades. In this paper, a variety of novel nanomaterials with excellent adsorption performances for Pb(II) and Cu(II) reported in recent years are reviewed, such as carbon-based materials, clay mineral materials, zero-valent iron and their derivatives, MOFs, nanocomposites, etc. The novel nanomaterials with extremely high adsorption capacity, selectivity and particular nanostructures are summarized and introduced, along with their advantages and disadvantages. And, some future research priorities for the treatment of wastewater are also prospected.

Abstract Repurposing existing drugs to inhibit SARS-CoV-2 infection in airway epithelial cells (AECs) is a quick way to find novel treatments for COVID-19. Computational screening has found dicoumarol (DCM), a natural anticoagulant, to be a potential SARS-CoV-2 inhibitor, but its inhibitory effects and possible working mechanisms remain unknown. Using air-liquid interface culture of primary human AECs, we demonstrated that DCM has potent antiviral activity against the infection of multiple Omicron variants (including BA.1, BQ.1 and XBB.1). Time-of-addition and drug withdrawal assays revealed that early treatment (continuously incubated after viral absorption) of DCM could markedly inhibit Omicron replication in AECs, but DCM did not affect the absorption, exocytosis and spread of viruses or directly eliminate viruses. Mechanistically, we performed single-cell sequencing analysis (a database of 77,969 cells from different airway locations from 10 healthy volunteers) and immunofluorescence staining, and showed that the expression of NAD(P)H quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1), one of the known DCM targets, was predominantly localised in ciliated AECs. We further found that the NQO1 expression level was positively correlated with both the disease severity of COVID-19 patients and virus copy levels in cultured AECs. In addition, DCM treatment downregulated NQO1 expression and disrupted signalling pathways associated with SARS-CoV-2 disease outcomes (e.g., Endocytosis and COVID-19 signalling pathways) in cultured AECs. Collectively, we demonstrated that DCM is an effective post-exposure prophylactic for SARS-CoV-2 infection in the human AECs, and these findings could help physicians formulate novel treatment strategies for COVID-19.

ABSTRACT In soybeans from different years, the infrared spectroscopy waveforms exhibit similarities, yet variations in aging time lead to significant differences in their fatty acid content. To rapidly discern the year of soybean production, this study employed ten feature extraction algorithms in conjunction with Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) to establish models for classifying soybeans from different years (2019, 2020, and 2021). The research findings reveal the following: (1) The CNN models, after feature extraction, all demonstrated improved accuracy. Notably, the optimal models for both powdered and granulated states were the Kpca-CNN models, achieving an accuracy of 100%. The corresponding loss function values were 0.0002 and 0.0007, with processing times of 0.19 seconds and 0.20 seconds, respectively. (2) The modeling results of all models suggest that the classification accuracy of soybean powder spectral data is higher compared to soybean particle spectral data. (3) Validation of the optimal Kpca-CNN model confirmed its consistent accuracy of 100% when introducing new data or reducing the size of the training dataset. In conclusion, the fusion of near-infrared spectroscopy analysis and CNN technology is considered an effective method for classifying soybeans from different years. This method provides a practical solution for the rapid and precise determination of seed production years.

Summary: Targeting lysine-specific histone demethylase 1A (LSD1) can improve tumor immunogenicity of poorly immunogenic tumors, such as non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), with elevated T cell infiltration and sensitize tumors to anti-PD-1 therapy. However, the lack of reliable biomarkers limits utilization of LSD1 inhibitors in cancer therapy. Here, we identify an E3 ligase, Trim35, as an effective biomarker for high activity of LSD1 to predict prognosis of LSD1-targeted therapy as well as immunotherapy. Mechanistically, Trim35 represses LSD1 demethylase activity by mediating K63 ubiquitination at lysine site 422 of LSD1. Suppressed LSD1 activity facilitates ERGIC1 transcription, followed by autophagy inhibition and IFNGR1 stabilization to activate IFN-γ signaling, leading to increased MHC class I expression and immune surveillance of NSCLC cells. Furthermore, combinational use of an LSD1 inhibitor and anti-PD-1 therapy can significantly eradicate poorly immunogenic lung cancer with low Trim35. These findings strongly suggest that Trim35 is a promising biomarker for prediction of immunotherapy outcome in NSCLC.

Objective: Scaphoid and lunate fractures have a relatively high incidence rate. Traditional carpectomy and carpal arthrodesis in the treatment of carpal osteonecrosis will lead to many complications. Three-dimensional (3D) printed tantalum has good biocompatibility and can be designed to match the patient’s personalized anatomical carpal structure. This study aims to investigate carpal function and prosthesis-related conditions after carpal bone replacement using 3D printed tantalum prostheses.Methods: From July 2020 to January 2022 at our center, seven patients with osteonecrosis of the carpus received carpal bone replacement using 3D printed tantalum prosthesis. The Disability of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) score and patient satisfaction, as well as the Mayo Wrist Scores (Cooney method, modified Green, and O’Brien wrist score), were used to evaluate the preoperative and postoperative wrist function of patients. The Visual Analog Scale (VAS) pain scores were also recorded before and after surgery. The angles of flexion, dorsiflexion, ulnar deviation, and radial deviation were measured using an arthrometer. The grip strength and pinch strength of the operated hand after carpal bone replacement and the contralateral healthy carpus were measured using a dynamometer. Radiographs were taken to confirm the condition and complications of the tantalum prosthesis.Results: All seven patients were followed for 19.6 ± 2.7 months. At the last follow-up, the grip strength of the operated wrist joint after carpal bone replacement was 33.4 ± 2.3 kg, the pinch strength was 8.9 ± 0.7 kg, the flexion was 54.6° ± 0.8°, the dorsiflexion was 54.7° ± 1.7°, the ulnar deviation was 34.6° ± 1.9°, and the radial deviation was 25.9° ± 0.8°, all of which showed no statistically significant difference with the contralateral healthy carpus (p > 0.05). There were significant differences in the VAS, DASH, and MAYO scores between the preoperative and the last follow-up (p < 0.01). Patients had reduced postoperative pain and improved wrist function and range of motion (ROM), and the tantalum prostheses were stable.Conclusion: The 3D printed tantalum brings us new hope, not only for hip or knee replacement, but also for joint replacement of other complex anatomical structures, and patients with other irregular bone defects such as bone tumors and deformity, which could realize personalized treatment and precise medicine.

Rock masses in underground engineering are usually damaged, which are caused by rock genesis and environmental stress. Studying the constitutive relationship between rock strength and deformation under loading is crucial for the design and evaluation of such scenarios. The new damage constitutive model considering the dynamic change of joint damage was developed to describe the behavior of rocks under loading in this work. First, considering the influence of jointed rock mass structural features in their entirety, the Drucker–Prager criterion and the Hoek–Brown criterion were combined. Second, based on the idea of macro–micro coupling, the calculation formulae of damage variables were derived. Finally, the damage constitutive model of the jointed rock mass was established, and the proposed model was fitted and compared with the test data. Results show that the variation rules for damage value and peak strength are opposite, and the stress–strain is highly sensitive to changes in the parameter s of the model. Moreover, the proposed model can accurately describe the effect of joint deterioration on the entire process of rock mass compression failure, which shows that the damage constitutive models are useful for evaluating the strength characteristics of jointed rock mass in engineering practice.

Abstract Background Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) has been suggested to exert deleterious effects on myocardium and cardiovascular disease (CVD) consequence. We evaluated the associations of EAT thickness with adverse outcomes and its potential mediators in the community. Methods Participants without heart failure (HF) who had undergone cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) to measure EAT thickness over the right ventricular free wall from the Framingham Heart Study were included. The correlation of EAT thickness with 85 circulating biomarkers and cardiometric parameters was assessed in linear regression models. The occurrence of HF, atrial fibrillation, coronary heart disease (CHD), and other adverse events was tracked since CMR was implemented. Their associations with EAT thickness and the mediators were evaluated using Cox regression and causal mediation analysis. Results Of 1554 participants, 53.0% were females. Mean age, body mass index, and EAT thickness were 63.3 years, 28.1 kg/m2, and 9.8 mm, respectively. After fully adjusting, EAT thickness positively correlated with CRP, LEP, GDF15, MMP8, MMP9, ORM1, ANGPTL3, and SERPINE1 and negatively correlated with N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP), IGFBP1, IGFBP2, AGER, CNTN1, and MCAM. Increasing EAT thickness was associated with smaller left ventricular end-diastolic dimension, thicker left ventricular wall thickness, and worse global longitudinal strain (GLS). During a median follow-up of 12.7 years, 101 incident HF occurred. Per 1-standard deviation increment of EAT thickness was associated with a higher risk of HF (adjusted hazard ratio [HR] 1.43, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.19–1.72, P

Micro-phasor measurement units (µPMUs) with a micro-second resolution and milli-degree accuracy capability are expected to play an important role in improving the state estimation accuracy in the distribution network with increasing penetration of distributed generations. Therefore, this paper investigates the problem of how to place a limited number of µPMUs to improve the state estimation accuracy. Combined with pseudo-measurements and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) measurements, an optimal µPMU placement model is proposed based on a two-step state estimation method. The E-optimal experimental criterion is utilized to measure the state estimation accuracy. The nonlinear optimization problem is transformed into a mixed-integer semidefinite programming (MISDP) problem, whose optimal solution can be obtained by using the improved Benders decomposition method. Simulations on several systems are carried out to evaluate the effective performance of the proposed model.

Abstract Background The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between reproductive variables and the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MetS) and its components among Chinese women aged 40 years and older. Methods A cross‐sectional study was conducted among 4453 women aged 40 years and older in Guangxi, China. The associations between women's reproductive factors and MetS were analyzed using a logistic regression model. Results The prevalence of MetS was 23.9% in this population. Women with MetS were mostly older, more likely to be postmenopausal, and had higher parity. Compared to women with one prior live birth, those with three or more live births had the highest odds of having MetS (odds ratio [OR] = 1.56; 95% CI, 1.23–1.99). Similarly, compared to premenopausal women, postmenopausal participants had higher odds of having MetS (OR = 1.86; 95% CI, 1.49–2.31). No associations were observed between MetS and abortion or with age at menarche. Conclusions Our study suggests that multiparity and menopausal status may be associated with the development of MetS. The inconsistency seen in epidemiological research to date calls for further investigation.

Abstract Background The role of postmastectomy radiation therapy (PMRT) in clinical T1-2N1 breast cancer patients who achieve axillary pathological complete response (ypN0) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) is controversial. Methods Data from cT1-2N1 breast cancer patients who converted to ypN0 after NAC and subsequent surgery were retrospectively analyzed. Disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) were estimated using the Kaplan‒Meier method. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression models were applied to investigate the correlations between clinical or pathological parameters and survival. Results From 2012–2019, we identified 116 cases for analysis, including 31 (26.7%) who received PMRT and 85 (73.3%) who did not. At a median follow-up time of 56.4 months, the 5-year DFS and OS rates were 90.2% and 96.7% with PMRT and 93.7% and 97.3% without PMRT, respectively. PMRT did not affect either DFS (p = 0.234) or OS (p = 0.878). On multivariate analyses, no differences in DFS or OS between the two groups were detected, taking into consideration the following factors: age, molecular subtype, Ki67 index, cT stage, and in-breast pathologic complete response (DFS: HR 2.260; 95% CI 0.465–10.982; p = 0.312. OS: HR 1.400; 95% CI 0.138–14.202; p = 0.776). This nonsignificant difference was also consistent in subgroup analyses (all p > 0.05). Conclusions PMRT has limited ability to confer DFS or OS benefits for cT1-2N1 breast cancer patients who achieved axillary pathological complete response after NAC and total mastectomy. It is imperative to conduct prospective studies to investigate the safety and feasibility of omitting PMRT. Taking a pumped storage power station in the northwest cold and arid regions as an example, this paper summarizes the construction technology and method of wound vegetation restoration in the upper and lower reservoir connecting road project of pumped storage power station in the northwest cold and arid regions, as well as the system of measures including the selection of suitable plants, the design of soil covering engineering, the design of plant measures and the construction technology. The soil covering engineering and plant measures were designed according to different wound types. The soil preparation of the Yurian pit and the ridge outside the pit were constructed with planting bags, arbor and shrubs were planted inside the pit, Picea asperata Mast. was selected for arbor and Juniperus sabina L. for shrubs, and forest vegetation blanket was used on the upper slope with a gentle slope, and shrubs and grass seeds were mainly planted with Poa annua L., Stipa capillata L. and Artemisia frigida Willd. The above vegetation restoration measures were designed. It greatly reduces soil and water loss in the reservoir area, improves vegetation coverage in the reservoir area, and enriches plant diversity, making the wound surface of the upper and lower reservoir connecting road of pumped storage power station gradually restore to the natural environment plant community state before the destruction.

For this paper, full-scale/model test comparisons to validate the traditional atmospheric boundary layer (ABL) wind-tunnel simulation technique performed until now by the wind engineering community are systematically reviewed. The engineering background includes some benchmark low-rise buildings specifically established for use in wind engineering research (the Aylesbury experimental buildings, the Texas Tech University experimental building, the Silsoe buildings, etc.), several high-rise buildings in North America and East Asia, long-span bridges, large-span structures, and cooling towers. These structures are of different geometries, are located in different wind environments, and are equipped with various transducers and anemometers. By summarizing the different articles in the literature, it is evident that notable discrepancies between the full-scale measurement and the model test results were observed in most full-scale/model test comparisons, which usually took certain forms: the mean and/or the peak negative pressures at the flow separation regions on buildings were underestimated in the wind tunnel; differences in the root-mean-square (rms) values of the acceleration samples between the full-scale measurements and the force balance model tests were non-negligible; the vertical vortex-induced vibration amplitudes of bridges measured using section models and aero-elastic models were much lower than those observed on the prototypes, etc. Most scholars subjectively inferred that inherent technical issues with the ABL wind tunnel simulation technique could be responsible for the observed full-scale/model test discrepancies, including the Reynolds number effects, the turbulent flow characteristics effects, and the non-stationarity effects. However, based on the authors’ years of experience and after discussion with experienced researchers, it was found that some of the full-scale measurements performed in earlier research were inherently less accurate and deterministic than the wind tunnel experiments they were supposed to validate, which could also be a significant cause of the full-scale/model test discrepancies observed. It is suggested herein that future studies in this field should regard full-scale measurements only as benchmarks, and that future works should focus on synthesizing the results from different schools of physical experiments and formulating universal empirical models of high theoretical significance to properly validate future wind tunnel tests.

The relationship between the decay of sunspots and moving magnetic features (MMFs) plays an important role in understanding the evolution of active regions. We present observations of two adjacent sunspots, the gap between them, and a lot of MMFs propagating from the gap and the sunspots' outer edges in NOAA Active Region 13023. The MMFs are divided into two types based on their magnetic field inclination angle: vertical (0° < γ < 45°) and horizontal (45° ≤ γ < 90°) MMFs (V-MMFs and H-MMFs, respectively). The main results are as follows: (1) the mean magnetic flux decay rates of the two sunspots are −1.7 × 10 ^20 and −1.4 × 10 ^20 Mx day ^−1 ; (2) the magnetic flux generation rate of all MMFs is calculated to be −1.9 × 10 ^21 Mx day ^−1 , which is on average 5.6 times higher than the total magnetic flux loss rate of the sunspots; (3) the magnetic flux of V-MMFs (including a pore separated from the sunspots) is 1.4 times larger than the total lost magnetic flux of the two sunspots, and in a later stage when the pore has passed through the reference ellipse, the magnetic flux generation rate of the V-MMFs is almost the same as the magnetic flux loss rate of the sunspots; and (4) within the gap, the magnetic flux of V-MMFs is one-third of the total magnetic flux. Few V-MMFs stream out from the sunspots at the nongap region. All observations suggest that MMFs with vertical magnetic fields are closely related to the disintegration of the sunspot, and most of the MMFs from the gap may originate directly from the sunspot umbra.

Internet is the main infrastructure of cyberspace, and the content-centric mainstream application paradigm of the cyberspace has deviated from Internet's original design intention of an address-centric data communication network. Hence the cyberspace has become an open-air dump of content big data. The emerging content big data characterized by chaos, disorder, and difficulty in governance brings severe challenges to the sustainable development of the Internet. Inspired by the idea of commensalism, a dualmeta network architecture driven by content and address is proposed in this paper which combines the primary structure of addressdriven Internet with a secondary structure of content-driven broadcast-storage network. Specifically, the address-driven features and challenges of Internet architecture are analyzed, and some representative content-centric networking schemes and their limitations are discussed. Then, the design principles for dual-meta network architecture and the content-driven metadata of uniform content label are introduced. Eventually, a reference model of the dual-meta network architecture is given, and its differences compared with a single address-driven Internet architecture are analyzed. As an innovative network architecture characterized by security, trustworthiness, pervasiveness, guarantee of sovereignty, and easy governance, the dual-meta network architecture driven by content and address provides a feasible new way to solve the development dilemma faced by the single address-driven Internet architecture.

Propose Neoadjuvant chemotherapy has been widely used in locally advanced and inflammatory breast cancer. Generally, complete pathological response after neoadjuvant chemotherapy treatment predicts survival. Studies have shown that patient-derived organoids can be used in cancer research and drug development. Therefore, we aimed to generate a living organoid biobank from biopsy samples to predict the response of patients to neoadjuvant chemotherapy.Method We generated a living organoid biobank from locally advanced breast cancer patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy. When the patient received neoadjuvant chemotherapy, the organoids were treated with similar drugs, thereby simulating the situation of the patient receiving treatment.Result We successfully constructed organoids from breast cancer biopsies, demonstrating that organoids can be generated from a small sample of tissue. The phenotype of breast cancer organoid often agreed with the original breast cancer according to the blinded histopathological analysis of H&E stain tissue and organoid sections. In addition, our data confirm that the patient’s response to chemotherapy closely matches the organoids’ response to drugs.Conclusion Our data indicate that patient-derived organoids can be used to predict the clinical response of breast cancer patients to neoadjuvant chemotherapy in vitro and to screen drugs that have different effects on different patients. Key messageComplete pathological response (pCR) after adjuvant chemotherapy can predict, survival, therefore, predicting patient response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy is critical.Patient-derived organoids (PDOs) matched the original tumour in terms of histopathology, hormone receptor levels and HER2 receptor status.Patient-derived organoids can predict the responsiveness of patient to neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

Background: The prevalence of swallowing disorders in Parkinson’s disease (PD) is relatively high. Different physiotherapy interventions for swallowing disorders are available but there is a lack of evidence-based medicine for their effectiveness in PD. Objective: The purpose of this systematic review was to investigate the effects of different physiotherapy interventions on dysphagia in PD. Methods: This systematic review was conducted according to PRISMA guidelines. We methodically searched databases including PubMed, PEDro, Cochrane Library, Embase, and Web of Science. Studies of any language published up to March 2022 were searched. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of non-pharmacological treatment for dysphagia in PD were selected in strict accordance with our exclusion and inclusion criteria. Results: In total, we identified and included 10 RCTs in patients with PD undergoing dysphagia. This review involved seven rehabilitation treatments, including acupuncture, expiratory muscle strength training (EMST), repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS), video-assisted swallowing therapy (VAST), electrical stimulation, and speech and language therapy (SLT). Conclusion: For physiotherapy treatments, including acupuncture, EMST, high-frequency rTMS and VAST may be effective treatments for dysphagia in patients with PD. However, there was not enough evidence that electrical stimulation has therapeutic effects on dysphagia in patients with PD.

Abstract Background There is the most common method for arthroscopic anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction by using the semitendinosus and gracilis tendons and single-tunnel technique. However, anatomic translocation of hamstring tendon attachment is very rare. Case presentation A 45-year-old male who need to receive right knee ACL reconstruction due to sprain injury while playing table tennis was found to have a translocation at tibial attachment of semitendinosus tendon. The tibial insertion of left semitendinosus was then explored by ultrasound and found to be identical to the contralateral limb. The patient has a history of bilateral tibial lengthening. Conclusions This is the first case as far as we know that reported anatomic translocation of the tibial attachment of the hamstring tendon after tibial lengthening. Surgeons should be aware of this specific situation when hamstring tendon need to be harvested to avoid unnecessary complications.

Fractures of the radial head account for 33% of elbow fractures. More and more studies have found that the radial head plays an important role in the normal function of the elbow joint, and many complications will occur after resection of the radial head. Accurate treatment of radial head fractures is crucially important. At this stage, commercialized radial head prosthesis of fixed size is commonly used in radial head replacement, but the mismatch of prosthesis and material problems have resulted in many complications. The three-dimensional (3D) printed porous tantalum has good biocompatibility, is conducive to bone ingrowth, has ideal elastic modulus, and can be prepared into a highly porous material that can be designed to match the radial head according to each patient's personalized anatomical structure. The purpose of this study was to investigate the elbow joint function, complications and prosthesis conditions after radial head replacement using 3D printed porous tantalum. Seven patients with comminuted fracture of radial head in our Center received radial head replacement using 3D printed porous tantalum. Patients were followed on the elbow joint function, range of motion (ROM), elbow radiographs, postoperative complications, and bone condition of tantalum metal. quality situation. Follow-up data showed that the patients had less postoperative pain, improved elbow function and ROM, and bone ingrowth in the tantalum prosthesis. The 3D printing porous tantalum can be applied to hip replacement, knee replacement, and other patients with irregular bone defects such as bone tumor, bone deformity, etc., which has the potential to realize personalized and precise treatment.

Abstract Background The associations of frailty with all-cause and cause-specific mortality remain unclear. Therefore, we performed this meta-analysis to fill this gap. Methods We searched the PubMed and Embase databases through June 2022. Prospective cohort studies or clinical trials examining frailty were evaluated, and the multiple adjusted risk estimates of all-cause and cause-specific mortality, such as death from cardiovascular disease (CVD), cancer, respiratory illness, dementia, infection, and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), were included. A random effects model was used to calculate the summary hazard ratio (HR). Results Fifty-eight studies were included for the qualitative systematic review, of which fifty-six studies were eligible for the quantitative meta-analysis, and the studies included a total of 1,852,951 individuals and more than 145,276 deaths. Compared with healthy adults, frail adults had a significantly higher risk of mortality from all causes (HR 2.40; 95% CI 2.17–2.65), CVD (HR 2.64; 95% CI 2.20–3.17), respiratory illness (HR 4.91; 95% CI 2.97–8.12), and cancer (HR 1.97; 95% CI 1.50–2.57). Similar results were found for the association between prefrail adults and mortality risk. In addition, based on the studies that have reported the HRs of the mortality risk per 0.1 and per 0.01 increase in the frailty index, we obtained consistent results. Conclusions The present study demonstrated that frailty was not only significantly related to an increased risk of all-cause mortality but was also a strong predictor of cause-specific mortality from CVD, cancer, and respiratory illness in community-dwelling adults. More studies are warranted to clarify the relationship between frailty and cause-specific mortality from dementia, infection, and COVID-19. Trial registration PROSPERO (CRD42021276021).

Abstract View graph construction aims to effectively organise disordered image dataset through image retrieval technique before structure from motion (SfM). Existing view graph construction methods usually fail to handle scenes with duplicate structure, because these methods solely treat the construction of view graph as a process of image‐pair‐wise matching and lack in exploiting images' topological details in dataset. In this paper, we handle this problem from a novel perspective to construct view graph in a global paradigm by introducing an end‐to‐end graph convolutional network (GCN). First, a location‐aware embedding module is introduced to encode images into a feature space that takes into account the feature's location by using Vision Transformer architecture, improving the distinction between features of duplicate structure. Second, graph convolutional network that consists of topological relationship preserving module and feature metric learning module is proposed. Topological relationship preserving network is proposed to help nodes maintain their connected neighbourhood features. By merging the topological connected information into images' embedding, our method can process image matching in a global mode, thus improving the disambiguation ability for images with duplicate scenes. Then a feature metric learning network is embedded into GCN to dynamically compute the linkage prediction among nodes based on their features. Finally, our method combines these three parts to jointly optimise nodes' features and linkage prediction in an end‐to‐end paradigm. We make qualitative and quantitative comparisons based on three public benchmark datasets and demonstrate that our proposed method performs favourably against other state‐of‐the‐art methods.

Electrocatalytic reduction of CO2 into multi-carbon alcohols of high economic merit offers an effective means to close the carbon cycle. Here the authors show the synergy between inorganic and organic phases derived from rationally designed molecular precursors to produce alcohols in high efficiency.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of cystic areas of osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) on stress distribution and disease progression in the femoral head. A total of 85 patients (106 hips) diagnosed with Association Research Circulation Osseous stage II non-traumatic and non-surgical treatment were retrospectively analyzed. The presence of cystic areas and diameter of cystic areas were compared between the two groups. In addition, five spherical cystic areas of different diameters were constructed and the maximum stress was observed. There was a difference between the two groups in whether cystic areas appeared in the femoral head, with 49.1% in the collapse group showing cystic areas, which was significantly higher than that in the non-collapse group (18.4%) (P < 0.05). In addition, the diameter of the cystic areas was significantly larger in the collapsed group than in the non-collapsed group (P < 0.05). The maximum and mean von Mises stress value around the necrotic area and around the cystic area of the femoral head increased with the increase of the cystic diameter. Stress concentration areas can be generated around the cystic areas. The presence and increased diameter of the cystic areas accelerates the collapse of the ONFH femoral head.

Physical layer security (PLS) is considered one of the most promising solutions to solve the security problems of massive Internet of Things (IoTs) devices because of its lightweight and high efficiency. Significantly, the recent physical layer key generation (PLKG) scheme based on transmission delay proposed by Huang et al. (2021) does not have any restrictions on communication methods and can extend the traditional physical layer security based on wireless channels to the whole Internet scene. However, the secret-sharing strategy adopted in this scheme has hidden dangers of collusion attack, which may lead to security problems such as information tampering and privacy disclosure. By establishing a probability model, this article quantitatively analyzes the relationship between the number of malicious collusion nodes and the probability of key exposure, which proves the existence of this security problem. In order to solve the problem of collusion attack in Huang et al.’s scheme, this article proposes an anti-collusion attack defense method, which minimizes the influence of collusion attack on key security by optimizing parameters including the number of the middle forwarding nodes, the random forwarding times, the time delay measurement times and the out-of-control rate of forwarding nodes. Finally, based on the game model, we prove that the defense method proposed in this article can reduce the risk of key leakage to zero under the scenario of the “Careless Defender” and “Cautious Defender” respectively.

Electroreduction of CO2 into value-added chemicals and fuels utilizing renewable electricity offers a sustainable way to meet the carbon-neutral goal and a viable solution for the storage of intermittent green energy sources. At the core of this technology is the development of electrocatalysts to accelerate the redox kinetics of CO2 reduction reactions (CO2RR) toward high targeted-product yield at minimal energy input. This perspective focuses on a unique category of CO2RR electrocatalysts embodying both inorganic and organic components to synergistically promote the reaction activity, selectivity and stability. First, we summarize recent progress on the design and fabrication of organic/inorganic hybrids CO2RR electrocatalysts, with special attention to the assembly protocols and structural configurations. We then carry out a comprehensive discussion on the mechanistic understanding of CO2RR processes tackled jointly by the inorganic and organic phases, with respect to the regulation of mass and charge transport, modification of double-layer configuration, tailoring of intermediates adsorption, and establishment of tandem pathways. At the end, we outline future challenges in the rational design of organic/inorganic hybrids for CO2RR and further extend the scope to the device level. We hope this work could incentivize more research interests to construct organic/inorganic hybrids for mobilizing electrocatalytic CO2RR towards industrialization.
