Identifying the exotic quantum spin liquid phase in Kitaev magnets has garnered great research interests and remains a significant challenge. In experiments, most of the proposed candidate materials exhibit an antiferromagnetic (AFM) order at low temperatures, thus the challenge transforms into the searching for a field-driven disordered phase that is distinct from the partially polarized paramagnetic phase after suppressing the AFM order. Recently, Na$_2$Co$_2$TeO$_6$ has been proposed as one of the prime candidates, where the Kitaev interaction is realized by the high-spin $t^{5}_{2g}e^2_g$ configuration, and spin-orbit entangled $J_{\rm eff} = 1/2$ state in a bond-edge shared honeycomb lattice. In this study, we identify an emergent intermediate disordered phase induced by an external field along the $c$-axis of the honeycomb plane. This phase is characterized through magnetization and magnetocaloric effect experiments in high magnetic fields. To explain the experimental results, we propose an effective spin model with large AFM Kitaev interaction, which yields results in good agreement with both our findings and previously reported data. We determine that the effective $K$-$J$-$\Gamma$-$\Gamma'$ model for Na$_2$Co$_2$TeO$_6$ is nearly dual to that of $\alpha$-RuCl$_3$ under an unitary transformation. Given the insignificant fragility of Na$_2$Co$_2$TeO$_6$ sample, further high-field experiments can be conducted to explore this intermediate-field quantum spin disordered phase., Comment: 12 pages, 8 figures

Machine learning (ML)-based monitoring systems have been extensively developed to enhance the print quality of additive manufacturing (AM). In-situ and in-process data acquired using sensors can be used to train ML models that detect process anomalies, predict part quality, and adjust process parameters. However, the reproducibility of the proposed AM monitoring systems has not been investigated. There has not been a method to evaluate and improve reproducibility in the joint domain of AM and ML. Consequently, some crucial information for reproducing the research is usually missing from the publications; thus, systems reproduced based on the publications often cannot achieve the claimed performance. This paper establishes the definition of reproducibility in this domain, proposes a reproducibility investigation pipeline, and composes a reproducibility checklist. A research is reproducible if a performance comparable to the original research can be obtained when reproduced by a different team using a different experiment setup. The reproducibility investigation pipeline sequentially guides the readers through all the necessary reproduction steps, during which the reproducibility checklist will help extract the reproducibility information from the publication. A case study that reproduced a vision-based warping detection system demonstrated the usage and validated the efficacy of the proposed pipeline and checklist. It has been observed that the reproducibility checklist can help the authors verify that all the information critical to reproducibility is provided in the publications. Despite significant advancements in Neural Radiance Fields (NeRFs), the renderings may still suffer from aliasing and blurring artifacts, since it remains a fundamental challenge to effectively and efficiently characterize anisotropic areas induced by the cone-casting procedure. This paper introduces a Ripmap-Encoded Platonic Solid representation to precisely and efficiently featurize 3D anisotropic areas, achieving high-fidelity anti-aliasing renderings. Central to our approach are two key components: Platonic Solid Projection and Ripmap encoding. The Platonic Solid Projection factorizes the 3D space onto the unparalleled faces of a certain Platonic solid, such that the anisotropic 3D areas can be projected onto planes with distinguishable characterization. Meanwhile, each face of the Platonic solid is encoded by the Ripmap encoding, which is constructed by anisotropically pre-filtering a learnable feature grid, to enable featurzing the projected anisotropic areas both precisely and efficiently by the anisotropic area-sampling. Extensive experiments on both well-established synthetic datasets and a newly captured real-world dataset demonstrate that our Rip-NeRF attains state-of-the-art rendering quality, particularly excelling in the fine details of repetitive structures and textures, while maintaining relatively swift training times., Comment: SIGGRAPH 2024, Project page: https://junchenliu77.github.io/Rip-NeRF , Code: https://github.com/JunchenLiu77/Rip-NeRF

Magnetic-field control of fundamental optical properties is a crucial challenge in the engineering of multifunctional microdevices. Van der Waals (vdW) magnets retaining a magnetic order even in atomically thin layers, offer a promising platform for hosting exotic magneto-optical functionalities owing to their strong spin-charge coupling. Here, we demonstrate that a giant optical anisotropy can be controlled by magnetic fields in the vdW magnet FePS$_3$. The giant linear dichroism ($\sim$11%), observed below $T_{\text{N}}\!\sim\!120$ K, is nearly fully suppressed in a wide energy range from 1.6 to 2.0 eV, following the collapse of the zigzag magnetic order above 40 T. This remarkable phenomenon can be explained as a result of symmetry changes due to the spin order, enabling minority electrons of Fe$^{2+}$ to hop in a honeycomb lattice. Quantum oscillation phenomenon is an essential tool to understand the electronic structure of quantum matter. Here we report a systematic study of quantum oscillations in the electronic specific heat $C_{el}$ in natural graphite. We show that the crossing of a single spin Landau level and the Fermi energy give rise to a double-peak structure, in striking contrast to the single peak expected from Lifshitz-Kosevich theory. Intriguingly, the double-peak structure is predicted by the kernel term for $C_{el}/T$ in the free electron theory. The $C_{el}/T$ represents a spectroscopic tuning fork of width 4.8 $k_B T$ which can be tuned at will to resonance. Using a coincidence method, the double-peak structure can be used to accurately determine the Lande $g$-factor of quantum materials. Monocular depth estimation is critical for endoscopists to perform spatial perception and 3D navigation of surgical sites. However, most of the existing methods ignore the important geometric structural consistency, which inevitably leads to performance degradation and distortion of 3D reconstruction. To address this issue, we introduce a gradient loss to penalize edge fluctuations ambiguous around stepped edge structures and a normal loss to explicitly express the sensitivity to frequently small structures, and propose a geometric consistency loss to spreads the spatial information across the sample grids to constrain the global geometric anatomy structures. In addition, we develop a synthetic RGB-Depth dataset that captures the anatomical structures under reflections and illumination variations. The proposed method is extensively validated across different datasets and clinical images and achieves mean RMSE values of 0.066 (stomach), 0.029 (small intestine), and 0.139 (colon) on the EndoSLAM dataset. The generalizability of the proposed method achieves mean RMSE values of 12.604 (T1-L1), 9.930 (T2-L2), and 13.893 (T3-L3) on the ColonDepth dataset. The experimental results show that our method exceeds previous state-of-the-art competitors and generates more consistent depth maps and reasonable anatomical structures. The quality of intraoperative 3D structure perception from endoscopic videos of the proposed method meets the accuracy requirements of video-CT registration algorithms for endoscopic navigation. We report dielectric, thermodynamical, acoustic, and optical properties of a chiral molecular crystal, 1,1'-bi-2-naphthol 2-dimethylsulfoxide (BINOL2DMSO). We find two successive phase transitions at Tc1=190 K and Tc2=125 K. The first transition at Tc1 is characterized by an order-disorder transition of the guest molecules DMSO along with ferroelectricity. At the second transition of Tc2, the crystal structure deforms from tetragonal to monoclinic, leading to domain formation. Low-temperature x-ray diffraction suggests that the space group changes from P4_12_12 (P4_32_12) to P4_1 (P4_3) at Tc1, and down to P112_1 at Tc2., Comment: 16 pages, 10 figures
