1. Data Proportion Detection for Optimized Data Management for Large Language Models

Abstract

Large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated exceptional performance across a wide range of tasks and domains, with data preparation playing a critical role in achieving these results. Pre-training data typically combines information from multiple domains. To maximize performance when integrating data from various domains, determining the optimal data proportion is essential. However, state-of-the-art (SOTA) LLMs rarely disclose details about their pre-training data, making it difficult for researchers to identify ideal data proportions. In this paper, we introduce a new topic, \textit{data proportion detection}, which enables the automatic estimation of pre-training data proportions by analyzing the generated outputs of LLMs. We provide rigorous theoretical proofs, practical algorithms, and preliminary experimental results for data proportion detection. Based on these findings, we offer valuable insights into the challenges and future directions for effective data proportion detection and data management.

4. Selective scandium ion capture through coordination templating in a covalent organic framework

Abstract

The use of coordination complexes within covalent organic frameworks can significantly diversify the structures and properties of this class of materials. Here we combined coordination chemistry and reticular chemistry by preparing frameworks that consist of a ditopic (p-phenylenediamine) and mixed tritopic moieties-an organic ligand and a scandium coordination complex of similar sizes and geometries, both bearing terminal phenylamine groups. Changing the ratio of organic ligand to scandium complex enabled the preparation of a series of crystalline covalent organic frameworks with tunable levels of scandium incorporation. Removal of scandium from the material with the highest metal content subsequently resulted in a 'metal-imprinted' covalent organic framework that exhibits a high affinity and capacity for Sc3+ ions in acidic environments and in the presence of competing metal ions. In particular, the selectivity of this framework for Sc3+ over common impurity ions such as La3+ and Fe3+ surpasses that of existing scandium adsorbents.

Abstract

In this paper, we propose a model for bird sound event detection that focuses on a small number of training samples within the everyday long-tail distribution. As a result, we investigate bird sound detection using the few-shot learning paradigm. By integrating channel and spatial attention mechanisms, improved feature representations can be learned from few-shot training datasets. We develop a Metric Channel-Spatial Network model by incorporating a Channel Spatial Squeeze-Excitation block into the prototype network, combining it with these attention mechanisms. We evaluate the Metric Channel Spatial Network model on the DCASE 2022 Take5 dataset benchmark, achieving an F-measure of 66.84% and a PSDS of 58.98%. 15. Portfolio optimization with idiosyncratic and systemic risks for financial networks

Abstract

In this study, we propose a new multi-objective portfolio optimization with idiosyncratic and systemic risks for financial networks. The two risks are measured by the idiosyncratic variance and the network clustering coefficient derived from the asset correlation networks, respectively. We construct three types of financial networks in which nodes indicate assets and edges are based on three correlation measures. Starting from the multi-objective model, we formulate and solve the asset allocation problem. We find that the optimal portfolios obtained through the multi-objective with networked approach have a significant over-performance in terms of return measures in an out-of-sample framework. This is further supported by the less drawdown during the periods of the stock market fluctuating downward. According to analyzing different datasets, we also show that improvements made to portfolio strategies are robust.

Abstract

Lewis pairs (LPs) with outstanding performance for nonmetal-mediated catalysis reactions have high fundamental interest and remarkable application prospects. However, their solubility characteristics lead to instability and deactivation upon recycling. Here, the layered porous aromatic framework (PAF-6), featuring two kinds of Lewis base sites (NPiperazine and NTriazine), is exfoliated into few-layer nanosheets to form the LP entity with the Lewis acid. After comparison with various porous networks and verification by density functional theory (DFT) calculations, the NTriazine atom in the specific spatial environment is determined to preferably coordinate with the electron-deficient boron compound in a sterically hindered pattern. LP-bare porous product displays high catalytic activity for the hydrogenation of both olefin and imine compounds, and demonstrates ≈100% activity after 10 successful cycles in hydrogenation reactions. Considering the natural advantage of porous organic frameworks to construct LP groups opens up novel prospects for preparing other nonmetallic heterogeneous catalysts for efficient and recyclable catalysis.

Abstract

Ammonia gas sensors are very essential in many industries and everyday life. However, their complicated fabrication process, severe environmental fabrication requirements and desorption of residual ammonia molecules result in high cost and hinder their market acceptance. Here, laser direct writing is used to fabricate three parallel porous 3D graphene lines on a polyimide (PI) tape to simply construct an ammonia gas sensor. The middle one works as an ammonia sensing element and the other two on both sides work as heaters to improve the desorption performance of the sensing element to ammonia gas molecules. The graphene lines were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The response and recovery time of the sensor without heating are 214 s and 222 s with a sensitivity of 0.087% ppm-1 for sensing 75 ppm ammonia gas, respectively. The experimental results prove that under the optimized heating temperature of about 70 °C the heaters successfully help implement complete desorption of residual NH₃ showing a good sensitivity and cyclic stability.

50. Molecularly Imprinted Porous‐Organic Framework with pH‐Responsive Adsorption Sites for the Selective Adsorption of Iron.

Abstract

Comprehensive Summary Regulating brain iron metabolism and reducing neuronal ferroptosis is proven to be a potential method for treating Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, gastric juice has a pH of 1.1—2.2 where a large number of interfering ions are dissociated from the food, which in turn causes traditional oral iron chelators to be saturated and inactivated. Herein, poly(4‐vinylbenzoic acid) polymer chains were introduced as guided by Fe3+ ion template into the porous network (TpPa‐1) via molecularly imprinted technology to obtain porous iron chelators, COOH@TpPa‐1. The COOH@TpPa‐1 maintains a multiple hydrogen bonding structure to block the channels in the stomach (pH ~1.1—2.2) with a strongly acidic environment, so just a small amount of active sites have been occupied. As COOH@TpPa‐1 enters the colon, the alkaline environment disrupts the original hydrogen‐bonded structure and forms anionic fragments, the bonding affinity for Fe3+ ions was ~4.0 times that in the stomach, and also gave a high selective coefficient 4.2 times higher than that of conventional iron chelators. These designable "on" and "off" states promote the effective enrichment of iron ions within the colon by the porous chelator and produce a favorable therapeutic effect on Alzheimer's symptoms caused by ferroptosis in mice.
