In this article, a review focusing on the frost resistance of recycled coarse aggregate concrete (RAC) and the bond performance of RAC with rebar under freeze–thaw environment is carried out. The results show that there are still some controversies about the advantages and disadvantages of the frost resistance of RAC, and many influencing factors have not been considered. The mass of the RAC pullout specimens shows a trend of first increasing and then decreasing after freeze‒thaw cycles. The failure modes of the RAC pullout specimens after freeze‒thaw cycles include pullout failure, pullout-splitting failure, splitting failure, and rebar yielding failure. The bond performance of RAC with rebar shows a degradation trend after freeze‒thaw cycles, mainly in the decrease in bond strength and the increase in bond slip. The bond performance of RAC specimens is inferior to that of natural aggregate concrete specimens after freeze‒thaw cycles. The bond strength prediction models and the bond–slip constitutive relation prediction models of RAC with rebar after freeze‒thaw cycles have been summarized to ensure that engineers can better understand their applicability. The bond stress distribution between the RAC and rebar in the anchoring area is not uniform and constantly changes with the number of freeze‒thaw cycles. The degradation mechanism of the bond performance of RAC with rebar after freeze‒thaw cycles is analyzed.

The plasma matrix is a kind of autologous blood conduct. It has been widely used in maxillofacial tissue regeneration, skin cosmetology and some other fields. Recently, to preserve the dental pulp as well as the teeth, pulp regeneration therapy and apical surgery have become increasingly important as well as the applications of bioactive materials. As a kind of autologous bioactive material, the plasma matrix has some natural advantages as it is easy to obtain and malleable. The plasma matrix can be used in the following cases: ①pulp revascularization of young permanent teeth with open apical foramina that cannot stimulate apical bleeding; ② apical barrier surgery with bone defects and large area perforation repair with bone defects or root sidewall repair surgery; ③ apical surgeries of teeth with large area of apical lesions, with or without periodontal diseases. The plasma matrix is a product derived from our blood, and there are no obvious contraindications for its use. Several systematic reviews have shown that the plasma matrix can effectively promote the regenerative repair of dental pulp in patients with periapical diseases. However, the applications of plasma matrix are different because its characteristics are affected by different preparation methods. In addition, there is still a lack of long-term clinical researches on the plasma matrix, and the histological evidences are difficult to obtain, so a large number of in vitro and in vivo experimental studies are still needed. This article will describe the applications of different kinds of plasma matrix for dental pulp regeneration and bone tissue regeneration in apical surgeries to provide references for clinicians in indication selection and prognosis evaluation.

Endodontic microsurgery (EMS) is an alternative treatment option for previously treated teeth with persistent periapical disease, offering a favorable prognosis. However, it can be particularly challenging in anatomically complex cases, risking unintentional damage to adjacent critical structures. Dynamic navigation (DN), a computer-aided technique, facilitates precise presurgical planning and provides real-time guidance during operation. Integrating the DN technique into EMS procedures can enhance treatment accuracy and effectiveness. This report presents 4 cases involving a minimally invasive incision approach for DN-aided EMS in anatomically complex regions, all of which were completed without complications. After 3–12 months, patients presented asymptomatic, and radiographic examinations revealed complete healing or the periapical radiolucent area decreased in size. The DN technique contributed to reliably mitigating the risk of iatrogenic damage in complicated EMS scenarios. The minimally invasive incision approach not only provided sufficient visibility but also promoted favorable soft tissue healing, making it a valuable addition to surgical endodontics. Periodontal disease is a common disorder affecting a wide range of people and has a high prevalence globally. Periodontitis comprises a series of inflammatory conditions affecting periodontal support tissue, which could ultimately lead to tooth loss and reduce life quality and add to the financial burden of society. Matrix metalloproteinase-12 (MMP-12) is an elastase that is produced mostly by macrophages and could degrade a wide spectrum of extracellular matrix (ECM) and also contribute to several systematic pathological conditions. Recently, researchers have reported higher expression of MMP-12 in chronic periodontitis patients. However, there are few reports on the role of MMP-12 in periodontitis pathogenicity, and the interaction between MMP-12, periodontal pathogens, and periodontal tissues remains unclear. In this review, we introduce the potentially unique role of MMP-12 in the context of periodontal inflammation earlier, summarize the possible effects of MMP-12 on the pathological process of periodontitis and the interaction of host response under the challenge of various inflammatory factors, and provide possible diagnostic and therapeutic strategies targeting MMP-12 for the management of periodontitis. Objectives: The development of effective treatments for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), particularly targeting the KRASG12C mutation, remains a challenge. In this study, we investigated the therapeutic potential of VT204, a small molecule inhibitor of KRASG12C, in NSCLC. Methods: To achieve the objectives, we conducted a comprehensive set of experimental methods. In vitro experiments involved the investigation of VT204 on proliferation, apoptosis, cell cycle dynamics, migration, invasion, and on the RAF/MEK/ERK signaling pathway in NCI-H358 cells. In addition, in vivo experiments were performed to evaluate the influence of VT204 on tumor growth. Results: We demonstrated that VT204 effectively suppressed cell proliferation in NCI-H358 cells, with significant inhibition observed at a concentration of 8 μM. Colony formation assays further supported the inhibitory effect of VT204 on NCI-H358 cell growth. Moreover, VT204 exhibited notable effects on suppressing migration and invasion capacities of NCI-H358 cells, indicating its potential as a metastasis-inhibiting agent. Mechanistic investigations revealed that VT204 induced apoptosis and G2M-phase cell cycle arrest in NCI-H358 cells. Additionally, VT204 modulated the RAF/MEK/ERK signaling pathway, leading to reduced phosphorylation of ERK. In vivo studies using xenograft models confirmed the inhibitory effect of VT204 on NCI-H358 tumor growth. Conclusion: These findings highlight VT204 as a promising therapeutic candidate for NSCLC targeting the KRASG12C mutation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is the most common oral cancer. Previous studies have found significantly high miR-155 expression in OSCC. However, the mechanism by which miR-155 plays a role in OSCC oncogenesis is not yet clear. This article reviews the function of the relationship between miR-155 and tumors and the potential role of miR-155 in the development of OSCC. A literature review showed that mir-155, as a small carcinogenic RNA, can inhibit CDC73, BCL6, P27Kip1 and other target genes that play a role in cancer inhibition; promote the proliferation, migration and invasion of OSCC cells; and inhibit apoptosis. miR-155 can also be combined with biological factors (Epstein-Barr virus, human papillomavirus) to promote the development of OSCC.
