Owing to their inherent flexibility and excellent biocompatibility, liquid metals (LMs) have been explored at the frontiers of clinical therapy. Herein, a LM and tanshinone IIA (TA) drugs were dispersed into sodium alginate (SA) solution by ultrasonication to prepare SA/LM/TA, which is an injectable biomaterial for stable drug release and intrapericardial injection for the treatment of myocardial infarction (MI). The SA/LM/TA has a low viscosity and can be injected smoothly using a syringe. In rat models of MI, we demonstrated that SA/LM/TA injection in the pericardial cavity is a biosafe and effective method to deliver a carrier containing LM particles and TA drugs for MI treatment. After injection, the drug release is slow and stable in the pericardial cavity, increasing the cardiac retention of drugs. After surgery and treatment for 7 days, the cardiac function of rats improved compared with the control group and the TA direct injection group. The intrapericardial injection of SA/LM/TA improves cardiac functions and mitigates cardiac remodeling post myocardial infarction of rats. Overall, the present study establishes a therapeutic strategy for treatment of myocardial infarction by intrapericardial injection of SA/LM/TA and expands the application categories of LM biomaterials in disease treatments. It was a systematic review and meta-analysis that aimed to compare the efficiency and safety of robot-assisted urological surgery using both the KangDuo and da Vinci robotic systems. The PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases were searched for all papers published through September 1, 2024. The focus was on English-language papers comparing the KangDuo surgical robot and the da Vinci system in urological procedures. The screening method focused on RCTs and cohort studies and followed strict criteria. Three cohort studies and two randomised controlled trials with 300 adult urological surgery patients met the inclusion criteria. These 150 patients were operated on with the KangDuo robotic system and 150 with the da Vinci system. The investigation showed that whereas KangDuo operations were slightly longer, intraoperative blood loss, hospital stay, and postoperative complication rates were similar. The KangDuo robotic system performs urological surgery as well as the da Vinci system, although it takes longer. Future large-scale multicenter randomized trials are recommended to gather further evidence and enhance clinical understanding. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Postoperative pain management has consistently been a critical topic in the medical field, with patient-controlled intravenous analgesia (PCIA) being one of the most commonly utilized methods for postoperative analgesia. Currently, opioids remain the primary choice for PCIA in clinical practice. However, in recent years, an increasing number of studies have explored analgesic strategies aimed at reducing or eliminating the use of opioids in PCIA to mitigate the associated side effects and dependence. Doping of polycyclic conjugated hydrocarbons (PCHs) with sulfur atoms is becoming more and more important as a means of creating unique functional materials. Recently, thiophene‐containing multiple helicenes have garnered enormous attention due to their intriguing electronic and (chir)optical properties compared with carbohelicenes. However, the efficient synthesis of thiopyran‐containing multiple helicenes and the underlying sulfur doping mechanisms are rather unexplored. Herein, the synthesis and structural analysis of a thiopyran‐containing double [7]helicene 3 are reported. X‐ray crystallographic analysis reveals 3 and its dication with C2‐symmetric propeller‐shape structures and compact interactions in the solid state. 3 exhibits deep‐red to near‐infrared (NIR) fluorescence emission. Tunable aromaticity of the central benzene ring and thiopyran rings is found by chemical oxidation, which is further confirmed by nucleus‐independent chemical shift (NICS), anisotropy of the induced current density (ACID) and harmonic oscillator model of aromaticity (HOMA) analysis. Furthermore, the chiral and photosensitizing characters of 3 are investigated. The excellent deep‐red to NIR fluorescence, circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) and photosensitizing activities suggest that 3 can be used as an outstanding photosensitizer in photodynamic therapy (PDT) and bioimaging, especially paving the way for future CPL‐PDT and CPL‐bio‐probe applications. Periodontitis is a significant independent risk factor for atherosclerosis. Yet, the exact mechanism of action is still not fully understood. In this study, we investigated the effect of exosomes‐miR‐155‐5p derived from periodontal endothelial cells on atherosclerosis in vitro and in vivo. Higher expression of miR‐155‐5p was detected in the plasma exosomes of patients with chronic periodontitis (CP) and carotid atherosclerosis (CAS) compared to patients with CP. Also, the expression level of miR‐155‐5p was associated with the severity of CP. miR‐155‐5p‐enriched exosomes from HUVECs increased the angiogenesis and permeability of HAECs and promoted the expression of angiogenesis, permeability, and inflammation genes. Along with the overexpression or inhibition of miR‐155‐5p, the biological effect of HUVECs‐derived exosomes on HAECs changed correspondingly. In ApoE−/− mouse models, miR‐155‐5p‐enriched exosomes promoted the occurrence of carotid atherosclerosis by increasing permeable and angiogenic activity. Collectively, these findings highlight a molecular mechanism of periodontitis in CAS, uncovering exosomal miR‐155‐5p derived periodontitis affecting carotid endothelial cells in an 'exosomecrine' manner. Exosomal miR‐155‐5p may be used as a biomarker and target for clinical intervention to control this intractable disease in future, and the graphic abstract was shown in Figure S1. Embodied cognition posits that processing concepts requires sensorimotor activation. Previous research has shown that perceived power is spatially embodied along the vertical axis. However, it is unclear whether such mapping applies equally in the two languages of bilinguals. Using event‐related potentials, we compared spatial embodiment correlates in participants reporting the source of auditory words as being presented from above or below their sitting position. English bilinguals responded faster for congruent presentations of high‐power words (presented above) but not for congruent presentations of low‐power words (presented below) in both languages. Low‐power words together also failed to modulate N400 amplitude or interact with language. However, follow‐up analyses on high‐power words showed congruency effects on N400 amplitude in Chinese but not in English. Finally, English controls showed no effect. This suggests that spatial embodiment differs across languages in bilinguals, but the roles of culture and proficiency require further research. Background: Previous investigations have shown a positive relationship between baseball pitching velocity and the kinetic chain involved in pitching motion. However, no study has examined the influence of finger characteristics on pitching velocity and rate of spin via a sensor-embedded baseball. Methods: Twenty-one pitchers volunteered and were recruited for this study. An experimental baseball embedded with a force sensor and an inertial measurement unit was designed for pitching performance measurement. Finger length and strength were measured as dependent variables. Spin rate and velocity were independent variables. Pearson product–moment correlations (r) and intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) determined the relationship between finger characteristics and pitching performance. Results: Finger length discrepancy, two-point pinch strength, index finger RFD (rate of force development), middle finger impulse, and force discrepancy had significant correlations with spin rate (r = 0.500~0.576, p ≤ 0.05). Finger length discrepancy, two-point pinch, three-point pinch strength, index and middle finger RFD, middle finger impulse, and force combination had significant correlations with fastball pitching velocity (r = 0.491~0.584, p ≤ 0.05). Conclusions: Finger length discrepancy, finger pinch strength, and pitching finger force including maximal force and RFD may be factors that impact fastball spin rate and fastball pitching velocity. Bat–ball contacts are critical in the baseball hitting process. However, an effective training method for increasing the impact perception of a bat–ball contact is currently unavailable. Although not widely used, hitting a stationary weighted baseball can be an appropriate method for batters to simulate the perception of hitting a moving baseball. Therefore, swing velocity, wrist vibration, and forearm muscle activation for hitting stationary weighted, stationary regulation, and pitched baseballs were investigated in this study. Twelve position players hit a stationary weighted, stationary regulation, and pitched baseball at a speed of 70.28 ± 3.84 km/h in a random order. The swing velocity, wrist vibration, forearm muscle activation, and co-contraction ratio during hitting phases were analysed. The results indicated that the swing velocity during each specific phase demonstrated no significant differences between the different conditions. Hitting weighted and pitched baseballs caused higher wrist vibration, muscle activation, and co-contraction ratio during the contact phase than hitting regulation balls (p < 0.05). The conclusion was that hitting weighted baseballs could mimic the impact condition of hitting pitched baseballs without changing the pattern of swing velocity, which suggested that this method has potential as a hitting drill for improving hitting perception at bat–ball contact. Visible-light-induced EDA complex-promoted ring-opening of cycloketone oxime esters to synthesise various cyanoalkylated products with N-methacryloyl benzamides was developed. Various radical receptors were compatible with the current reaction system to furnish diverse heterocyclic compounds. Mechanistic analysis shows that the formation of an EDA complex was crucial to the photocatalytic strategy. Importantly, 4-cyanoalkyl isoquinoline-1,3-diones were obtained in high yields by using a catalytic amount of 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO) through prolonging the reaction time, which provided a practical approach to give a variety of isoquinoline-1,3-dione derivatives.
