Additive manufacturing (AM) rapidly evolves and expands into new industries dueto its great design freedom and time savings. Injection molding is an excellentindustry where AM can help reduce cooling time by printing complex coolingchannels for more effective and uniform cooling. This not only simplifies the extensive machining of complex cooling channels but also increases profitability, which is heavily influenced by cooling time. Regardless of the advantages, AM components have a natural and random surface roughness that varies depending on the material and technology. Although increasing surface roughness improves thermal performance, it also increases unwanted pressure loss. This thesis aims to assemble and validate a test rig for the commonly used cooling media – water. Followed by experimental testing with both smooth and AM rough mini-channels to compare the difference in results for pressure loss and convective heat transfer coefficient. Data collected were evaluated using the Darcy friction factor for pressure loss and the Nusselt number for the convective heat transfer coefficient quantification, respectively. In the heat transfer experiment, a one-dimensional constant heat flux boundary condition was applied with the streamwise linear discretization method. Results show a good agreement of smooth and rough channel results for the Darcy friction factor to the prediction done by theoretical correlations and compared to results from the air. Nusselt number results of the smooth channel were in line with theoretical correlations; however, as the water Prandtl number increases, the correlations seem to underpredict the heat transfer performance in high Reynolds numbers. Furthermore, the heat transfer enhancement of the AM rough channel increased overall by 2.5 times compared to the smooth channel in laminar to early turbulent flow regimes. Data som samlats in utvärderades med Darcy-friktionsfaktorn för tryckförlust respektive Nusselt-talet för kvantifiering av konvektiv värmeöverföringskoefficient. I värmeöverföringsexperimentet tillämpades ett endimensionellt konstant värmeflödesgränsvillkor med den strömvisa linjära diskretiseringsmetoden. Resultaten visar en god överensstämmelse mellan jämna och grova kanalresultat för Darcy-friktionsfaktorn till uppskattningar från teoretiska korrelationer samt jämförbar med resultat från luften. Nusselt tals resultat för den jämna kanalen var i linje med teoretiska korrelationer; men när vattnet Prandtl-talet ökar, verkar korrelationerna underförutse värmeöverföringsprestanda i höga Reynolds-tal. Dessutom ökade värmeöverföringsförbättringen av AM-grovkanalen totalt med 2,5 gånger jämfört med den jämna kanalen i laminära till tidiga turbulenta flödesregimer. Dessa resultat etablerade en grund för kontinuerliga experimentella tester men avslöjade också okända angående effekten av högt Prandtl-tal på värmeöverföring i turbulenta

Endometriosis and adenomyosis are closely related disorders. Their pathophysiologies are extremely similar. Both tissues originate from the eutopically located intracavitary endometrium. Oligoclones of endometrial glandular epithelial cells with somatic mutations and attached stromal cells may give rise to endometriosis if they travel to peritoneal surfaces or the ovary via retrograde menstruation and/or may be entrapped in the myometrium to give rise to adenomyosis. In both instances, the endometrial cell populations possess survival and growth capabilities conferred by somatic epithelial mutations and epigenetic abnormalities in stromal cells. Activating mutations of KRAS are the most commonly found genetic variant in endometriotic epithelial cells, whereas the adenomyotic epithelial cells almost exclusively bear KRAS mutations. Epigenetic abnormalities in the stromal cells of endometriosis and adenomyosis are very similar and involve an abnormal expression pattern of nuclear receptors, including the steroid receptors. These epigenetic defects give rise to excessive local estrogen biosynthesis by aromatase and abnormal estrogen action via estrogen receptor-?.
