Knutson, Tao, and Woodward formulated a Littlewood-Richardson rule for the cohomology ring of Grassmannians in terms of puzzles. Vakil and Wheeler-Zinn-Justin have found additional triangular puzzle pieces that allow one to express structure constants for $K$-theory of Grassmannians. Here we introduce two other puzzle pieces of hexagonal shape, each of which gives a Littlewood-Richardson rule for $K$-homology of Grassmannians. Consider all geodesics between two given points on a polyhedron. On the regular tetrahedron, we describe all the geodesics from a vertex to a point, which could be another vertex. Using the Stern--Brocot tree to explore the recursive structure of geodesics between vertices on a cube, we prove, in some precise sense, that there are twice as many geodesics between certain pairs of vertices than other pairs. The antibiotics time machine is an optimization question posed by Mira \latin{et al.} on the design of antibiotic treatment plans to minimize antibiotic resistance. The problem is a variation of the Markov decision process. These authors asked if the problem can be solved efficiently. Graph packing and partitioning problems have been studied in many contexts, including from the algorithmic complexity perspective. Consider the packing problem of determining whether a graph contains a spanning tree and a cycle that do not share edges. Bern\'ath and Kir\'aly proved that this decision problem is NP-complete and asked if the same result holds when restricting to planar graphs. Similarly, they showed that the packing problem with a spanning tree and a path between two distinguished vertices is NP-complete. They also established the NP-completeness of the partitioning problem of determining whether the edge set of a graph can be partitioned into a spanning tree and a (not-necessarily spanning) tree. In [BNRR], it was shown that tiling of general regions with two rectangles is NP-complete, except for a few trivial special cases. In a different direction, R\'emila showed that for simply connected regions by two rectangles, the tileability can be solved in quadratic time (in the area). We prove that there is a finite set of at most 10^6 rectangles for which the tileability problem of simply connected regions is NP-complete, closing the gap between positive and negative results in the field. Tiling planar regions with dominoes is a classical problem in which the decision and counting problems are polynomial. We prove a variety of hardness results (both NP- and #P-completeness) for different generalizations of dominoes in three and higher dimensions., Comment: 17 pages, 16 figures

Does a given a set of polyominoes tile some rectangle? We show that this problem is undecidable. In a different direction, we also consider tiling a cofinite subset of the plane. The tileability is undecidable for many variants of this problem.
