This study explores a supply chain product-inventory problem with advance sales under the omni-channel strategies (physical and online sales channels) based on the brand owner's business model and develops corresponding models that have not been proposed in previous studies. In addition, because the brand owner is a member of the supply chain, and has different handling methods for defective products or products returned by customers in various retail channels, defective products or returned products are included in the supply chain models to comply with actual operating conditions and fill the research gap in the handling of defective/returned products. Regarding the mathematical model's development, we first clarify the definition of model parameters and relevant data collection, and then establish the production-inventory models with omni-channel strategies and advance sales. The primary objective is to determine the optimal production, delivery, and replenishment decisions of the manufacturer, physical agent, and online e-commerce company in order to maximize the joint total profits of the entire supply chain system. Further, this study takes the supply chain system of mobile game steering wheel products as an example, uses data consistent with the actual situation to demonstrate the optimal solutions of the models, and conducts sensitivity analysis for the proposed model. The findings reveal that increased demand shortens the replenishment cycle and raises order quantity and shipment frequency in the physical channel, similar to the online channel during normal sales. However, during the online pre-order period, higher demand reduces order quantity and cycle length but still increases shipment frequency. Rising ordering or fixed shipping costs lead to higher order quantity and cycle length in both channels, but variable shipping costs in the online channel reduce them. Market price increases boost order quantity and frequency in the online channel, while customer return rates significantly impact inventory decisions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study uses Stackelberg game theory, considering different combinations of carbon emission reduction policies and that high-carbon-emission enterprises may face various carbon emission reduction regulations, to explore the production inventory problems in a multinational supply chain system. The purpose is to determine the manufacturer's optimal production, shipping, carbon reduction investment, and the retailer's replenishment under the equilibrium for different carbon emission policy combinations. To develop the production inventory models, this study first develops the total profit and carbon emission functions of the supply chain members, respectively, and then obtains the optimal solutions and total profits of the manufacturer and the retailer under different carbon emission policy combinations through the mathematical analysis method. Further, this study used several numerical examples to solve and compare the proposed models. The results of numerical analysis show that regardless of the increase in carbon price or carbon tax, the manufacturer and retailer will adjust their decisions to reduce carbon emissions. Specifically, an increase in the carbon price contributes to an increase in the total profit of manufacturers, while an increase in the carbon tax reduces the total profit of manufacturers. This study also explores a sensitivity analysis on the main parameters and has yielded meaningful management insights. For instance, in cases where low-carbonization strategies are required, the manufacturer or retailer can effectively reduce the carbon emissions resulting from production or purchasing activities, thereby significantly reducing overall carbon emissions. It is believed that the results of this study can provide enterprises/supply chains with reference to their respective production, transportation, carbon reduction investment, and inventory decisions under carbon emission policies, as well as information on partner selection and how to adjust decisions under environmental changes. The European Union intends to adopt a more aggressive unilateral policy-carbon tariffs to promote the reduction of global carbon emissions. In our research, a global supply chain model is developed to determine the effects of carbon tariffs along with domestic carbon policies. Domestic carbon policies in which the retailer country has a (1) carbon tax or (2) cap-and-trade, while the manufacturing country has (1) a carbon tax or (2) no carbon policy are considered. The proposed production - inventory model for a three-stage supply chain comprises the supply of raw materials, a single export manufacturer's productionand delivery, and a single import retailer's orders and sales for deteriorating items. The exchange rate for transactions among supply chain members is also taken into consideration. Mathematical programming analysis is used to determine the manufacturer's optimal material supply, production, and delivery strategies, as well as the retailer's optimal pricing and replenishment strategies. The main goal is to maximize joint total profit in both settings, and this is achieved through numerical and sensitivity analysis. This study found that carbon tariffs have a positive impact on the emission reduction effect of cross-border supply chain systems. Additionally, it revealed that within a multinational three-stage supply chain, considering the deterioration of raw materials and finished products, the increase in the carbon tariff rates and exchange rates enhance the emission reduction effect of the supply chain and have a positive impact on the joint total profits of the supply chain. Finally, unlike previous studies, this study also explored that the adjustment of carbon tariff relief rate have a complex impact on the profits and emissions reduction of the supply chain members. To protect our environment, current firms are committed to the circular economy and process maintenance strategies to reduce the waste of resources. In this way, they can also save costs and create an enterprise image and value. Therefore, this study explores an imperfect production system with a circular economy and process maintenance activities, wherein the defective products can be converted into scrap returns (i.e., secondary raw materials) and products can be manufactured using mixed materials containing scrap returns. The proposed system considers multiple products with varying feed rates of scrap returns. According to the scenario of the aforementioned production system, this paper develops a production–inventory model aimed at cost minimization, in which the production run time, purchased quantity of material, number of maintenance times, and recovery rate are decision variables. Furthermore, we also develop a computational algorithm to obtain these optimal solutions efficiently. Finally, the numerical and sensitivity analyses based on a practical case are presented to illustrate the applicability of our method and some managerial implications. For example, both strategies efficiently reduce the total cost per unit time in the proposed numerical example. This study presents a novel approach to analyzing the present value of total profit for non-participating and participating insurance policies in order to determine the optimal profitability of non-participating and participating insurance policies based on applying the approach used in operations research to the field of finance. As such, a comprehensive insurance product evaluation model was developed using both mathematical models and numerical analysis to evaluate the demand for non-participating and participating life insurance policies in response to changes in interest rates. The findings indicate that non-participating life insurance policies offer greater solvency for insurance companies compared to participating policies. The study also highlights the significance of spontaneous and induced demand in determining the total profit of both types of policies. The study concludes that life insurance companies should focus on generating spontaneous consumer demand, reducing induced demand, and implementing the optimal pricing strategy to achieve maximum profits. This paper aims to propose a comprehensive inventory model including pricing, pre-sale incentives, advance sales, trade credit, and carbon tax policies. The novelty of this study lies in its holistic approach to addressing these relevant and practical issues. The major purpose is to determine the optimal pricing, pre-order discount, and replenishment decisions to maximize the total profit under carbon tax policy. Through theoretical analysis, this study develops several theorems to demonstrate properties of optimal solutions and an easy-to-use algorithm to derive optimal solutions. Further, several numerical examples are provided to demonstrate the solution process for different scenarios and the effects of various parameters on optimal alternatives and solutions. For an imperfect production system, to reduce quality-related costs, a manager may consider investing capital in quality improvement. In general, the investment expense in reducing the defective rate of items is often paid by the vendor. On the other hand, the buyer may inspect the product quality as the order is received which implies it incurs an inspection cost. In a supply chain integrated system, to accomplish global optimisation, the vendor and buyer can agree to jointly invest capital to improve the imperfect production processes, and the buyer can remove the inspection programme as the defective rate reaches a certain low-level. Hence, this paper investigates the impacts of collaborative investment and inspection policies on an integrated inventory model with defective items. The objective of this study is to seek the optimal order quantity, shipping times from the vendor to the buyer per production run, and the defective rate that minimise the joint total cost per unit time. An algorithm is developed to find the optimal solution. Several numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the proposed model and solution procedure, and then several management insights are obtained from the numerical examples.
