The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of lidocaine for patient controlled intravenous analgesia (PCIA) in patients who underwent open hepatectomy.A retrospective analysis.A total of 281 patients who underwent open hepatectomy from July 2018 to December 2018 were included. All patients were assigned into two groups: the lidocaine group (PCIA consisted of lidocaine, sufentanil, tramadol and granisetron) and the control group (PCIA consisted of sufentanil, tramadol and granisetron). The postoperative visual analogue scale (VAS) and complications (including respiratory depression, hypotension, nausea and vomiting, pruritus, numbness of the corners of the mouth, dizziness) between the groups were compared.There were no significant differences between the characteristics, duration of surgery and anesthesia, and recovery of postoperative activity between the two groups. In the first 3 days after the operation, the postoperative VAS score of the lidocaine group was lower than that of the control group at resting state, while after activity, the postoperative VAS contrast results were completely opposite. In particularly, the resting state at 48 hours (h) (1.05 ± 1.25 vs 1.57 ± 1.54) after surgery and the activity state at 72 h (3.02 ± 1.51 vs 2.2 ± 1.66) after surgery (P0.05). The incidence of mouth numbness and dizziness were significantly increased in the lidocaine group (P0.05).The addition of lidocaine in PCIA was not beneficial to improve the pain during activities and increased the incidence of perioral numbness and dizziness.

Lycium barbarum polysaccharide (LBP) is a substance with various biological activities extracted from Lycium barbarum. LbGPs are peptidoglycans with a short peptide backbone and a complex, branched glycan moiety, which is further extracted and isolated from LBPs. Previous studies have shown that LbGP can inhibit cancer cell growth, but its specific mechanism is not completely clear. In this study, we found that LbGP could inhibit the proliferation of glioma cells and promote the expression of period 2 (PER2) through the PKA-CREB pathway. In addition, LbGP could inhibit the de novo synthesis of lipids by downregulating SREBP1c and its target genes, which depended on the expression of PER2. Moreover, PER2 negatively regulated the expression of SREBP1c via suppressing PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway. In summary, LbGP may upregulate the expression of PER2 to reduce the expression of SREBP1c, inhibit lipid synthesis in glioblastoma, and inhibit glioblastoma cell proliferation. This study provides an alternative drug for the treatment of glioma and elucidates its potential mechanism.

Background Enhanced recovery after surgery has been attempted in neurosurgery at a greater rate. However, concern exists regarding the feasibility of using enhanced recovery after neurosurgery (ERANS). How to manage available resources to safely perform ERANS and improve clinical outcomes has been the subject of much debate and discussion. Methods Owing to the paucity of data available on the use of ERANS protocols, we performed the present feasibility study. We studied the outcomes of the protocols used within a tertiary referral neurosurgery center. Data from patients who had undergone awake craniotomy within an ERANS protocol were prospectively recorded in our institution from September 2017 to December 2018. We also evaluated the safety and effectiveness of the novel ERANS protocol. Results A total of 20 patients (mean age, 49.5 ± 17.8 years) were included in the present study. Intraoperative hypertension, hypotension, and bradycardia were present in 4 (20%), 1 (5%), and 1 (5%) patient, respectively. The postoperative morbidities included epilepsy in 1 (5%), pain in 3 (15%), and nausea or vomiting in 2 (10%). No significant changes had occurred in the mean arterial pressure, heart rate, blood glucose, or lactic acid level throughout the procedure. The median length of intensive care unit stay and postoperative hospital stay were 1 and 9.5 days, respectively. No 30-day readmissions or reoperations occurred during the present study. Conclusions Applying an ERANS protocol was feasible, associated with a low incidence of complications, and acceptable intensive care unit and postoperative hospital lengths of stay. The findings from the present study might provide a new approach for the further research of ERANS.

High-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) is the most prevalent and lethal ovarian cancer type. While HGSC usually responds well to primary treatment, most cases eventually relapse. Functional precision medicine - tailoring individualized treatments based on functional in vitro assays on patient-derived cells - has been recently employed in cancer clinical trials. Cancer organoids - three-dimensional, self-organizing, self-renewing cell cultures that recapitulate original tissue structure and function - have been applied as cellular models in these trials. However, in case of HGSC, organoid derivation has proven time consuming and inefficient, hindering their application in functional precision medicine due to a short time window, in which therapy for each patient needs to be selected. To address this problem, we aimed to establish whether drug vulnerabilities at HGSC relapse could be predicted using organoids derived from the primary disease cells. We derived sequential organoid models from material sampled during primary treatment and at relapse. Then, for organoid pairs (primary-relapse), we performed large-scale drug response profiling of a library of 370 compounds (approved drugs or drugs in clinical development), in 384-well microplate format, alone or in combination with a standard HGSC chemotherapeutic agent carboplatin. First, we found that HGSC organoid responses to standard chemotherapeutics retrospectively correlated to observed clinical treatment outcomes. But further, for each patient we identified compounds with pronounced cytotoxicity both in the primary and in the relapsed model, amounting to 66% of all hits (7% were primary-specific and 27% relapse-specific). We then focused on identifying patient-specific hits rather than compounds displaying general toxicity in all patient models. Based on a potential clinical applicability, for three patients we selected compounds for validation in organoid outgrowth assay, with prolonged (>1 month) drug-free period post-treatment. In two patients, AZD4573, a selective CDK9 inhibitor in clinical development for hematological malignancies, at nanomolar concentrations caused eradication of organoids when combined with carboplatin. Organoids from the third patient were vulnerable to nitazoxanide, an approved anti-helminthic agent and an inhibitor of mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation. Importantly, the selected final hits were identified solely based on screening in organoid models from primary disease. In summary, we here demonstrate that HGSC organoids derived from primary disease material predict a majority of patient-specific drug vulnerabilities of organoids derived from the relapsed HGSC lesions. This indicates that patient stratification in functional precision medicine for treatment of HGSC relapse could be prospectively performed at the primary disease stage. Background Ferritin, the natural iron storage protein complex, self-assembles into a uniform cage-like structure. Human H-ferritin (HFn) has been shown to transverse the blood–brain barrier (BBB) by binding to transferrin receptor 1 (TfR1), which is abundant in endothelial cells and overexpressed in tumors, and enters cells via endocytosis. Ferritin is easily genetically modified with various functional molecules, justifying that it possesses great potential for development into a nanocarrier drug delivery system. Results In this study, a unique integrin α2β1-targeting H-ferritin (2D-HFn)-based drug delivery system was developed that highlights the feasibility of receptor-mediated transcytosis (RMT) for glioma tumor treatment. The integrin targeting α2β1 specificity was validated by biolayer interferometry in real time monitoring and followed by cell binding, chemo-drug encapsulation stability studies. Compared with naïve HFn, 2D-HFn dramatically elevated not only doxorubicin (DOX) drug loading capacity (up to 458 drug molecules/protein cage) but also tumor targeting capability after crossing BBB in an in vitro transcytosis assay (twofold) and an in vivo orthotopic glioma model. Most importantly, DOX-loaded 2D-HFn significantly suppressed subcutaneous and orthotopic U-87MG tumor progression; in particular, orthotopic glioma mice survived for more than 80 days. Conclusions We believe that this versatile nanoparticle has established a proof-of-concept platform to enable more accurate brain tumor targeting and precision treatment arrangements. Additionally, this unique RMT based ferritin drug delivery technique would accelerate the clinical development of an innovative drug delivery strategy for central nervous system diseases with limited side effects in translational medicine. Objective Label-free quantitative proteomics was applied to analyze differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) in the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of patients with encephalitis. The database was used to screen for possible biomarkers in encephalitis, followed by validation and preliminary investigation of the role of some DEPs in the pathogenesis of encephalitis using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Methods We performed label-free quantitative proteomics on 16 cerebrospinal fluid samples (EM group, encephalitis with mental and behavioral disorders patients, n = 5; NED group, encephalitis without mental and behavioral disorders patients, n = 6; N group, healthy individuals, n = 5). The extracted CSF proteins were examined by mass spectrometry and enzymatic digestion and detected using protein profiling and data analysis. Interproscan was used to perform Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis of the DEPs. ELISA was used to verify the changes in the levels of some DEPs in the CSF. Results A total of 941 proteins were found to be significantly differentially expressed, including 250 upregulated DEPs and 691 downregulated DEPs. GO analysis suggested that there were six enriched functions that intersect among the EM, NED, and N groups, including synapse organization, membrane, integral component of membrane, membrane part, G-protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway, and transmembrane signaling receptor activity. KEGG analysis revealed that there were three signaling pathways that intersect among the EM, NED, and N groups, including fructose and mannose metabolism, inositol phosphate metabolism, and Jak-STAT signaling pathway. Furthermore, four downregulated encephalitis-related neurological synapse proteins were identified after screening for differentially expressed proteins, including NRXN3, NFASC, LRRC4B, and NLGN2. The result of ELISA further verified that the expression of NLGN2 and LRRC4B was obviously higher in the NED group than in the N group. Conclusions These findings demonstrated that NLGN2 and LRRC4B proteins were upregulated in the NED group and could be potential biomarkers for the diagnosis of encephalitis, but still needs a lot of multiomics studies to be used in clinical.

A new cyclic tetrapeptide (1) named aspergilpeptide A, together with a known cyclic tetrapeptide penicopeptide A (2) and chaetominine (3) were obtained from the endophytic fungus Aspergillus versicolor E-2 isolated from the medicinal plant Euphorbia royleana. The structures of compounds (1-3) were elucidated using NMR and MS methods.

We explore the deuteron under strong magnetic fields in Skyrme models. The effects of the derivative dependent sextic term in the Skyrme Lagrangian are investigated, and the rational map approximation is used to describe the deuteron. The influences of strong magnetic fields on the electric charge distribution and mass of the deuteron are discussed.

Purpose In this study, pH-sensitive poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline)-poly(lactic acid)-poly(β-amino ester) (PEOz-PLA-PBAE) triblock copolymers were synthesized and were conjugated with an antimalaria drug artesunate (ART), for inhibition of a colon cancer xenograft model. Methods The as-prepared polymer prodrugs are tended to self-assemble into polymeric micelles in aqueous milieu, with PEOz segment as hydrophilic shell and PLA-PBAE segment as hydrophobic core. Results The pH sensitivity of the as-prepared copolymers was confirmed by acid-base titration with pKb values around 6.5. The drug-conjugated polymer micelles showed high stability for at least 96 h in PBS and 37°C, respectively. The as-prepared copolymer prodrugs showed high drug loading content, with 9.57%±1.24% of drug loading for PEOz-PLA-PBAE-ART4. The conjugated ART could be released in a sustained and pH-dependent manner, with 92% of released drug at pH 6.0 and 57% of drug released at pH 7.4, respectively. In addition, in vitro experiments showed higher inhibitory effect of the prodrugs on rodent CT-26 cells than that of free ART. Animal studies also demonstrated the enhanced inhibitory efficacy of PEOz-PLA-PBAE-ART2 micelles on the growth of rodent xenograft tumor. Conclusion The pH-responsive artesunate polymer prodrugs are promising candidates for colon cancer adjuvant therapy.

The aim of this study was to distinguish the characteristics of intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) originating from mechanics imbalance, biology disruption, and their communion, and to develop a composite IVDD model by ovariectomy combined with lumbar facetectomy for mimicking elderly IVDD with osteoporosis and lumbar spinal instability. Mice were randomly divided into four groups and subjected to sham surgery (CON), ovariectomy (OVX), facetectomy (mechanical instability, INS) or their combination (COM), respectively. Radiographical (n = 4) and histological changes (n = 8) of L4/5 spinal segments were analyzed. Tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) staining was conducted to detect osteoclasts, and expression of osterix (OSX), type I collagen (Col I), type II collagen (Col II) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) were evaluated by immunochemistry. OVX affected the body's metabolism but INS did not, as the body weight increased and uterus weight decreased in OVX and COM mice compared to CON and INS mice. OVX, INS, and COM caused IVDD in various degrees at 12 weeks after surgery. However, the major pathogeneses of OVX- and INS-induced IVDD were different, which focused on endplate (EP) remodeling and annulus fibrosus (AF) collapse, respectively. OVX induced osteopenia of vertebra. In contrast, INS promoted the stress-adaptive increase of subchondral bone trabeculae. The COM produced a reproducible severe IVDD model with characteristics of sparse vertebral trabeculae, cartilaginous EP ossification, subchondral bone sclerosis, fibrous matrix disorder, angiogenesis, disc stiffness, as well as space fusion. Additionally, all groups had elevated bone and cartilage turnover compared with CON group, as the quantity of trap + osteoclasts and the osteogenic OSX expression increased in these groups. Likewise, the VEGF expression levels were similar, accompanied by the altered matrix expression of disc, including the changed distribution and contents of Col II and Col I. The findings suggested that the composite mouse model to some extent could effectively mimic the interactions of biology and mechanics engaged in the onset and natural course of IVDD, which would be more compatible with the IVDD of elderly with vertebral osteoporosis and spinal instability and benefit to further clarify the complicated mechanobiological environment of elderly IVDD progression.

To observe the effect of Lingnan fire needling combined with artificial tears in the treatment of xerophthalmia.A total of 86 xerophthalmia patients were equally and randomly divided into treatment group and control group. The patients of both groups were received treatment with 0.1% sodium hyaluronate eye drops in their eyes 3 times a day, one drop in each eye. In addition, the patients of treatment group also treated by Lingnan fire needling on bilateral Shaoze (SI1), Neichengqi and beside lacrimal puncta once a week. The treatment was conducted for 4 consecutive weeks. Before and after 4 weeks of treatment, the clinical efficacy, visual acuity, intraocular pressure, ocular symptom score, OSDI score, fluorescence staining （FL） score, schemer I, tear menisci height, tear film break-up time (BUT) and eye redness index were recorded and evaluated.After the treatment, self-comparison showed that the symptom score, OSDI score, FL score and eye redness index were significantly decreased (Lingnan fire needling combined with 0.1% sodium hyaluronate eye drops is more effective than simple sodium hyaluronate eye drops for xerophthalmia patients, with significant curative effect and no adverse reactions.

Emergence agitation (EA) is a common complication in pediatric patients after general anesthesia. The effectiveness of magnesium sulfate in decreasing the incidence of EA in children remains controversial. Therefore, a systematic review and meta-analysis was performed to assess the efficacy of magnesium sulfate in preventing EA in pediatric patients following general anesthesia.Systematic review and meta-analysis.PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library were searched to identify eligible randomized controlled trials from their respective database inception dates to June 30, 2021.Pediatric patients (18 years old) undergoing general anesthesia.Intravenous administration of magnesium sulfate.The primary outcome of the meta-analysis was EA incidence. The risk of bias of the included studies was evaluated using the revised Cochrane risk of bias tool for randomized trials (RoB 2.0). Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluation was applied to assess the level of certainty.Eight studies with 635 participants were identified. The forest plot revealed no significant difference in the incidence of EA between patients treated with magnesium sulfate and the control group (risk ratio = 0.69, 95% confidence interval [0.44, 1.07]; P = 0.10, IAdministration of magnesium sulfate during general anesthesia did not affect the occurrence of EA in pediatric patients. However, magnesium sulfate can prolong the emergence time without adverse effects. PROSPERO registration number: CRD42021252924.

Two new conjugated ketonic fatty acids, (10E,12E)-ethyl 9-oxo-octadeca-10,12-dienoate (1) and (14S)-(10E,12E)-methyl 14-hydroxy-9-oxo-octadeca-10,12-dienoate (2), were isolated from the leaves of Vernicia fordii collected from Hunan Province of China. Their structures were characterized by means of spectroscopic analyses. All of them were tested for their cytotoxicity against five human cancer cell lines.

A new benzylated alkamide, N-(3-methoxybenzyl)hexadec-9Z-enamide (1), and a known analogue (2) were isolated from the roots of Lepidium meyenii. Their structures were elucidated by extensive NMR and MS spectroscopic analyses. All the isolated alkamides were evaluated for their cytotoxicity against five human cancer cell lines but found to be insignificant at concentrations up to 40 μM.

Background Controlled turnover of proteins as mediated by the ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS) is an important element in plant defense against environmental and pathogen stresses. E3 ligases play a central role in subjecting proteins to hydrolysis by the UPS. Recently, it has been demonstrated that a specific class of E3 ligases termed the U-box ligases are directly associated with the defense mechanisms against abiotic and biotic stresses in several plants. However, no studies on U-box E3 ligases have been performed in one of the important staple crops, barley. Results In this study, we identified 67 putative U-box E3 ligases from the barley genome and expressed sequence tags (ESTs). Similar to Arabidopsis and rice U-box E3 ligases, most of barley U-box E3 ligases possess evolutionary well-conserved domain organizations. Based on the domain compositions and arrangements, the barley U-box proteins were classified into eight different classes. Along with this new classification, we refined the previously reported classifications of U-box E3 ligase genes in Arabidopsis and rice. Furthermore, we investigated the expression profile of 67 U-box E3 ligase genes in response to drought stress and pathogen infection. We observed that many U-box E3 ligase genes were specifically up-and-down regulated by drought stress or by fungal infection, implying their possible roles of some U-box E3 ligase genes in the stress responses. Conclusion This study reports the classification of U-box E3 ligases in barley and their expression profiles against drought stress and pathogen infection. Therefore, the classification and expression profiling of barley U-box genes can be used as a platform to functionally define the stress-related E3 ligases in barley. Imaging tests perform relatively well in the detection of rotator cuff tears (RCTs), exhibiting high sensitivity and specificity, mainly among larger full-thickness tears (tear width >1 cm). However, these tests are relatively less accurate in the detection of small full-thickness tears and partial-thickness tears. The purpose of this study was to determine the feasibility of percutaneous ultrasound-guided tendon lesionography (PUTL) using the SonoVue and the value of percutaneous shoulder puncture via contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS)-a combination of percutaneous ultrasound-guided subacromial bursography (PUSB) and PUTL-in the detection of RCT subtypes. Conventional ultrasound (US), CEUS and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) were performed and prospectively evaluated in 97 patients who had undergone arthroscopy because of suspected RCTs. The rates of detection of the various subtypes of RCTs using CEUS, PUSB, PUTL, US and MRI were evaluated. The RCT subtype detection rate via CEUS was significantly higher than the rates via US and MRI (96.9%, 74.2% and 76.3%, respectively), as were the detection rates for small full-thickness tears combined with partial-thickness tears (98.2%, 60.0% and 61.8%, respectively). The detection rate with PUSB was significantly higher than those with US and MRI in assessing full-thickness tears combined with bursal-side partial-thickness tears (93.9%, 65.3% and 65.3%, respectively). The detection rate with PUTL was significantly higher than those with US and MRI in assessing the corresponding subtypes (100.0%, 69.2% and 76.9%, respectively). On the basis of our findings, we consider PUTL a tolerable and feasible procedure. Percutaneous shoulder puncture using CEUS can be an effective alternative method with better diagnostic performance than US and MRI for the detection of RCT subtypes.

Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) regulates many neurological functions and plays a vital role during the recovery from central nervous system injuries. However, the changes in BDNF expression and associated factors following hypoxia-ischemia induced neonatal brain damage, and the significance of these changes are not fully understood. In the present study, a rat model of hypoxic-ischemic brain damage was established through the occlusion of the right common carotid artery, followed by 2 hours in a hypoxic-ischemic environment. Rats with hypoxic-ischemic brain damage presented deficits in both sensory and motor functions, and obvious pathological changes could be detected in brain tissues. The mRNA expression levels of BDNF and its processing enzymes and receptors (Furin, matrix metallopeptidase 9, tissue-type plasminogen activator, tyrosine Kinase receptor B, plasminogen activator inhibitor-1, and Sortilin) were upregulated in the ipsilateral hippocampus and cerebral cortex 6 hours after injury; however, the expression levels of these mRNAs were found to be downregulated in the contralateral hippocampus and cerebral cortex. These findings suggest that BDNF and its processing enzymes and receptors may play important roles in the pathogenesis and recovery from neonatal hypoxic-ischemic brain damage. This research was carried out to study the secondary metabolites of endophytic fungus Aspergillosis fumigatus from Euphorbia royleana. The endophytic fungus A. fumigatus was fermented by solid fermentation,and purified by various chromatographic methods after extraction. The structures of the compounds were identified by1 H-NMR,13 C-NMR and HSQC,HMBC spectra and physicchemical properties. Three compounds were isolated and their structures were identified as 3-( 3,4-dihydroxybenzoyl)-5-( 3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)-6-methyl-5,6-dihydro-2 H-pyran-2-one( 1),hydroxysydonic acid( 2) and 11-hydroxysydonic acid( 3). Compound 1 is a new compound.

Three new pyrrole alkaloids macapyrrolins A–C (1–3) were isolated from the roots of Lepidium meyenii collected from Lijiang, Yunnan province in China. Their structures were elucidated by extensive NMR and MS spectroscopic analyses. Interestingly, macapyrrolins A–C represent the first examples of pyrrole alkaloids found in Lepidium meyenii with a benzyl substituent attached to the pyrrole nucleus. All the isolated macapyrrolins were evaluated for their cytotoxicity against five human cancer cell lines. However, no significant activities were detected at concentrations up to 40 μM.

Objective: To study the relationship of cerebral edema with apoptosis, inflammatory factor generation and AQPs expression in the rat model with closed craniocerebral injury. Methods: Male SD rats were selected as experimental animals and divided into model group and control group. Model group were established into the closed craniocerebral injury models and control group received sham operation. The water content of damaged brain tissue as well as the expression of apoptosis molecules, the generation of inflammatory factors and the expression of aquaporins (AQPs) molecules were measured 7 d after model establishment. Results: The water content of brain tissue of model group was significantly higher than that of control group; Homer1a, Pim-3, Bcl-2, AQP1, AQP4 and AQP9 mRNA expression in brain tissue of model group were significantly lower than those of control group while Cdk5, FasL and Caspase-3 mRNA expression as well as NF-kB, TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 and p-JNK generation were significantly higher than those of control group. Homer1a, Pim-3, Bcl-2, AQP1, AQP4 and AQP9 mRNA expression in brain tissue of model group were negatively correlated with water content while Cdk5, FasL and Caspase-3 mRNA expression as well as NF-kB, TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 and p-JNK generation were positively correlated with water content. Conclusion: The excessive apoptosis, increased inflammatory factor generation and decreased AQPs expression are closely related to the occurrence of cerebral edema in the process of closed craniocerebral injury.

The heat transfer characteristics of transformer oil natural convection in a cavity with a linear electrode were investigated by experiment and numerical simulation. The coupled physical and mathematical models of electric field, flow field and temperature field were established by the lattice Boltzmann method. The experimental results are in good agreement with the numerical simulation. In the absence of gravity, the enhancement effect of electric field on heat transfer is significant, and increases with the increase of voltage and heat flux. As to coupled convection caused by gravity and electric field force together, the electric field force destructs the natural convection caused by gravity, so applying an electric field at a low voltage will degrade heat transfer performance; as the voltage increases, heat transfer gradually becomes intensive, but the effect is limited. The study results revealed the enhancing mechanism of natural convection heat transfer under electric field and provided useful technical support for practical application.

Minimizing pain and maximizing pleasure are conflicting motivations when pain and reward co-occur. Decisions to prioritize reward consumption or pain avoidance are assumed to lead to pain inhibition or facilitation, respectively. Such decisions are a function of the subjective utility of the stimuli involved, i.e. the relative value assigned to the stimuli to compare the potential outcomes of a decision. To test perceptual pain modulation by varying degrees of motivational conflicts and the role of subjective utility, we implemented a task in which healthy volunteers had to decide between accepting a reward at the cost of receiving a nociceptive electrocutaneous stimulus or rejecting both. Subjective utility of the stimuli was assessed by a matching task between the stimuli. Accepting reward coupled to a nociceptive stimulus resulted in decreased perceived intensity, while rejecting the reward to avoid pain resulted in increased perceived intensity, but in both cases only if a high motivational conflict was present. Subjective utility of the stimuli involved moderated these bidirectional perceptual effects: the more a person valued money over pain, the more perceived intensity increased or decreased. These findings demonstrate pain modulation when pain and reward are simultaneously present and highlight the importance of subjective utility for such modulation.

Nanofluid has attracted the attention of many scholars for the excellent heat transfer enhancement capacity. In addition, electric field can further strengthen the nanofluid’s ability of heat transfer. The thermal conductivity enhancement rate of nanofluid under electric field was studied using transient hot wire method under different electric field intensities, temperatures and particle concentrations. The influences of those parameters have been discussed. Besides, based on the static thermal conductivity and the dynamic heat conduction coefficient, a novel prediction model was established, which had a good agreement with experiment data. The mechanism of thermal conductivity enhancement under electric field was analyzed according to the prediction model.
