Abstract Asymptomatic Leucine-Rich Repeat Kinase 2 Gene (LRRK2) carriers are at risk for developing Parkinson's disease (PD). We studied presymptomatic substantia nigra pars compacta (SNc) regional neurodegeneration in asymptomatic LRRK2 carriers compared to idiopathic PD patients using neuromelanin-sensitive MRI technique (NM-MRI). Fifteen asymptomatic LRRK2 carriers, 22 idiopathic PD patients, and 30 healthy controls (HCs) were scanned using NM-MRI. We computed volume and contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) derived from the whole SNc and the sensorimotor, associative, and limbic SNc regions. An analysis of covariance was performed to explore the differences of whole and regional NM-MRI values among the groups while controlling the effect of age and sex. In whole SNc, LRRK2 had significantly lower CNR than HCs but non-significantly higher volume and CNR than PD patients, and PD patients significantly lower volume and CNR compared to HCs. Inside SNc regions, there were significant group effects for CNR in all regions and for volumes in the associative region, with a trend in the sensorimotor region but no significant changes in the limbic region. PD had reduced volume and CNR in all regions compared to HCs. Asymptomatic LRRK2 carriers showed globally decreased SNc volume and CNR suggesting early nigral neurodegeneration in these subjects at risk of developing PD.

Purpose: This study elucidates the relationship between similarity and ethnic psychological compatibility and its underlying psychological mechanisms. According to kin selection theory, similarity can promote ethnic psychological compatibility by enhancing psychological kinship and intergroup contact. Participants: and methods: A questionnaire survey was administered to 1523 participants from 25 ethnic groups in China. Data analysis was carried out via conditional process modelling. A multigroup comparison of mediation models between the ethnic majority and minorities was detected via the Stats Tools Package. Results: Our findings demonstrated that: (1) cultural and attitude similarity both showed a significant positive correlation with ethnic psychological compatibility; (2) psychological kinship and intergroup contact served as mediators in the relationship of attitude and cultural similarity with ethnic psychological compatibility and psychological kinship and intergroup contact were independent mediators, while psychological kinship–intergroup contact showed a significant serial mediation effect; (3) there were no significant differences in mediation effects between different ethnic groups. Conclusion: Our findings expand on kin selection theory and provide valuable paths for psychologically supporting ethnic psychological compatibility.

Abstract Expansive soils pose a significant challenge in geotechnical engineering, especially in coastal areas. While research has mainly focused on their elastic properties, this study explores the overlooked aspect of inelastic subsidence during prolonged droughts, utilizing decade‐long GPS datasets from the University of Houston Coastal Center. Our findings reveal substantial subsidence, approximately one to two dm, during the summer droughts of 2018, 2020, 2022, and 2023, due to compaction within the upper 4 m of expansive soils. Inelastic subsidence constitutes roughly 10% of the total subsidence, resulting in step‐like permanent land elevation loss over time. Notably, drought‐induced subsidence is prominent in open‐field areas with expansive soils but is minor in built‐up areas or in non‐expansive soil regions. The occurrence of inelastic subsidence challenges traditional assessments of relative sea‐level rise and coastal flooding, emphasizing the need to consider it in coastal infrastructure planning for enhanced resilience against climate uncertainties.

Objective To explore the risk factors for new-onset glucose abnormalities in patients of idiopathic membranous nephropathy (IMN) on glucocorticoid plus tacrolimus. Methods From August 2019 to January 2022, 118 patients with a diagnosis of IMN via renal biopsy were recruited from First Affiliated Hospital of Xinxiang Medical University. General profiles and laboratory test parameters were collected before tacrolimus dosing plus glucocorticoid. According to whether or not new glucose abnormalities occurred during follow-ups, they were assigned into two groups of normal glucose (n=76) and abnormal glucose (n=42). The risk factors were examined for new-onset glucose abnormalities. Results Age[（51.0±10.1）：（52.0±8.1）], urinary protein{[4577.91（3256.66，7289.84）mg/24h：[6721.26（4079.30，10275.77）mg/24h]}, glycated hemoglobin[（4.93±0.41）%：（5.15±0.33）%], body mass index (BMI)[（25.20±3.66）kg/m2：（26.71±3.47）kg/m2] and homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance（HOMA-IR）[1.60（1.08，2.17）：2.27（1.83，3.42）]were higher in normal glucose group (P< 0.05). However, no significant differences existed in gender, family history of diabetes, triglycerides, cholesterol, serum albumin, phospholipase A2 receptor antibody or remission rate. Logistic regression analysis revealed that advanced age (OR=1.062), elevated glycated hemoglobin (OR=4.099), BMI (OR=1.144) and HOMA-IR (OR=1.213) were risk factors for new-onset glucose abnormalities. Conclusions IMN patients on tacrolimus regimen with advanced age, elevated basal glycated hemoglobin, BMI or concurrent insulin resistance are more prone to abnormal blood glucose. Individuals with abnormal blood glucose have longer time to achieve a remission of urinary protein than counterparts with normal blood glucose.

Abstract Background Dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors (DPP-4i) have become firmly established in treatment algorithms and national guidelines for improving glycemic control in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).To report the findings from a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 3 clinical trial, which was designed to assess the efficacy and safety of a novel DPP-4 inhibitor fotagliptin in treatment-naive patients with T2DM. Methods Patients with T2DM were randomized to receive fotagliptin (n = 230), alogliptin (n = 113) or placebo (n = 115) at a 2:1:1 ratio for 24 weeks of double-blind treatment period, followed by an open-label treatment period, making up a total of 52 weeks. The primary efficacy endpoint was to determine the superiority of fotagliptin over placebo in the change of HbA1c from baseline to Week 24. All serious or significant adverse events were recorded. Results After 24 weeks, mean decreases in HbA1c from baseline were -0.70% for fotagliptin, -0.72% for alogliptin and -0.26% for placebo. Estimated mean treatment differences in HbA1c were -0.44% (95% confidence interval [CI]: -0.62% to -0.27%) for fotagliptin versus placebo, and -0.46% (95% CI: -0.67% to -0.26%) for alogliptin versus placebo, and 0.02% (95%CI: -0.16% to 0.19%; upper limit of 95%CI

[Objective] The height of metro tunnel catenary is a crucial parameter for ensuring normal train electrification and requires regular inspection. In response to the significant errors and low precision associated with other height detection methods, a new method for detecting the metro tunnel catenary height based on mobile 3D laser scanning technology is proposed. [Method] Based on the above new method, the error sources are analyzed. The method of adding a rigid tilting component on the mobile 3D laser scanner is suggested to modify the incidence angle of the laser, thereby reducing the number of spikes in the point cloud model of the tunnel profile. Additionally, the use of isometric Lambert projection is recommended to obtain an accurate point cloud model of the tunnel. A comparison is conducted with the height gauge detection results to verify whether the accuracy of the height detection meets the relevant requirements. [Result & Conclusion] The presence of spikes in the tunnel profile point cloud model built on mobile 3D laser scanning technology is caused by the scattering and diffuse reflection of the catenary due to laser foot point vertical incidence. The addition of the tilting component effectively reduces the number of spikes in the tunnel profile point cloud model. A comparison of the height detection data between the mobile 3D laser scanner and height gauge indicates that the accuracy of the height detection based on mobile 3D laser scanning technology is generally within ±3 mm, thus meeting the precision requirements stipulated by the relevant regulations.

Carbon fiber reinforced silicon carbide ceramic matrix (Cf/SiC) composites have the advantages of high temperature resistance, wear resistance, low density, high hardness as well as specific strength. They have been applied extensively in hot-end components of aerospace and braking systems of trains. Nevertheless, grappling with the anisotropy, non-homogeneity, and weak interlayer bonding of Cf/SiC composites presents a major challenge for achieving efficient and low-damage processing. This paper is primarily intended to investigate comprehensively the mechanical properties and damage behavior of Cf/SiC composites by nanoindentation and Vickers indentation tests. The behaviors of indentation damage on the longitudinal section of fiber (LSF), the cross-section of fiber (CSF) and matrix under different loads and the deflection mechanism of matrix crack were analyzed. The findings reveal a pronounced anisotropy between the radial and axial orientations of the fiber, and plastic deformation exists in the matrix. Furthermore, the matrix has the largest hardness and elastic modulus, while the LSF displays the lowest values among the composites. The main forms of indentation damage on the LSF are fiber crack, fiber peel off, fiber cocked up and squamous crack. The main manifestations of indentation damage on CSF are fiber crushing and fiber debonding, with the total surface damage area being comparatively limited. The fiber orientation and interface are influential factors in the crack propagation path of matrix. Notably, the fibers effectively inhibit the crack propagation of the matrix. This investigation provides valuable theoretical guidance for the formation mechanism and suppression strategy of machining damage in Cf/SiC composites.

Abstract Autophagy, as an intracellular degradation system, plays a critical role in plant immunity. However, the involvement of autophagy in the plant immune system and its function in plant nematode resistance are largely unknown. Here, we show that root-knot nematode (RKN; Meloidogyne incognita) infection induces autophagy in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) and different atg mutants exhibit high sensitivity to RKNs. The jasmonate (JA) signaling negative regulators JASMONATE-ASSOCIATED MYC2-LIKE 1 (JAM1), JAM2 and JAM3 interact with ATG8s via an ATG8-interacting motif (AIM), and JAM1 is degraded by autophagy during RKN infection. JAM1 impairs the formation of a transcriptional activation complex between ETHYLENE RESPONSE FACTOR 1 (ERF1) and MEDIATOR 25 (MED25) and interferes with transcriptional regulation of JA-mediated defense-related genes by ERF1. Furthermore, ERF1 acts in a positive feedback loop and regulates autophagy activity by transcriptionally activating ATG expression in response to RKN infection. Therefore, autophagy promotes JA-mediated defense against RKNs via forming a positive feedback circuit in the degradation of JAMs and transcriptional activation by ERF1.

Abstract Background Parathyroid carcinoma (PC) is an uncommon cause of primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) and particularly rare in the mediastinum. Herein, we present a case of mediastinal PC and conduct a related literature review. Case presentation We described a case of a 50-year-old female patient with PHPT due to mediastinal PC. She was initially admitted to a local hospital in her hometown with hypercalcemia and high blood concentrations of PTH (parathyroid hormone). The patient underwent neck parathyroidectomy and pathological examination suggested parathyroid adenoma. Although the overproduction of serum calcium and PTH declined after the surgery, calcium and PTH increased again one month later, so the patient was transferred to our hospital. A 99mTc-sestamibi scan revealed an ectopic finding in the mediastinum, which was also indicated on the CT image. After removing the mediastinal mass, the metabolism of calcium and PTH quickly reverted to normal and the pathologic features of the mass were consistent with PC. By reviewing the related literature, we noticed that only scattered reports were published before 1982, and those were not included in the present review due to their differences with current radiological examination and treatment methods. After excluding outdated studies, we summarized and analyzed 20 reports of isolated mediastinal PC and concluded that. Parathyroidectomy remains the only curative treatment for the disease. Furthermore, the success of treatment directly depends on accurate preoperative localization. Conclusion With this study, we emphasize the importance of accurate preoperative diagnosis of mediastinal PC and improve clinicians’ understanding of the disease.

The new generation antenna has high-quality processing requirements on the resin-rich layer of the reflecting surface. A polishing experiment on the resin-rich layer was carried out to study the parameters affecting the surface roughness of the layer, namely polishing time, abrasive particle size, abrasive particle mass fraction, loading pressure and polishing speed. The results show that under the current conditions, the surface roughness first decreases and then tends to be stable with the increase of polishing time. It increases with the increase of the abrasive particle size or the loading pressure, and first decreases and then increases with the increase of the abrasive particle mass fraction or the polishing speed. On this basis, an optimized process parameter combination is formed, which includes an abrasive size of 25 nm, an abrasive particle mass fraction of 20%, a loading pressure of 14.1 kPa, a polishing speed of 50 r/min, a polishing time of 1.0 hours, and a slurry flow rate of 10 mL/min. A high-quality resin rich layer polished surface with a surface roughness Sa of 4.73 nm can be obtained by machining with this parameter combination.

Objective: In patients with post-stroke oropharyngeal dysphagia (PSOD), classical dysphagia therapy (CDT) continues to provide unsatisfactory outcomes and makes it challenging for them to remove the nasal feeding tube. Increasing bolus viscosity helps prevent aspiration in PSOD. However, conventional starch thickeners enhance post-digestion residue. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of swallow training with xanthan gum-based thickener (XGT) (Softia G, NUTRI Co., Ltd., Yokkaichi, Japan) additional to CDT in Chinese PSOD patients with a nasogastric tube when compared to CDT alone. Methods: Patients with PSOD who had a nasogastric tube were randomly assigned to either the experimental group (E-group) or the control group (C-group) in this randomized controlled, single-blind, parallel-group study. Both groups received CDT for 4 weeks. The E-group cases received additional swallow training with a Softia G-prepared hydrogel training material. The Functional Oral Intake Scale (FOIS) and modified volume-viscosity swallow test (M-VVST) for swallowing safety and efficacy according to adjusted Chinese dietary habits were administered before and after treatment. Post-training, both groups' nasogastric tube removal rates were calculated. Results: One hundred sixty-seven participants (E-group: 82 and C-group: 85) completed the study. The E-group's median score of FOIS improved significantly than the C-group after training (median = 5 vs. 3, P < 0.001). The incidence of coughing, voice changes, oxygen desaturation of 3% or more, pharyngeal residue and piecemeal deglutition in the E-group was significantly lower than that in the C-group (P < 0.05). The E-group had 100% nasogastric tube removal, while the C-group had 28.24% (P < 0.001). Conclusion: Swallow training with XGT Softia G in addition to CDT can promote swallowing safety and efficacy in Chinese patients with PSOD more effectively than CDT alone.

In this study, cold cathode electron sources using deep-UV photons to excite gold cathode and microchannel plate (MCP) were employed to configure a high-quality electron impact ion source (EI) in a mass spectrometry. As an electron multiplying device, MCP can amplify weak signal by thousands of times. Gold was used as a photocathode and it had the characteristics of simple excitation, stable photoemission, and uniform photocurrent density distribution. Combining the characteristics of the two, a series of research were carried out. The gold cathode JGS2 was formed by evaporation gold film on JGS2 quartz glass, and the gold-cathode MCP was formed by evaporation gold film on the input surface of MCP, respectively. The two were assembled in different combinations to develop two kinds of cold cathode electronic sources. Firstly, the deep-UV excited gold cathode MCP was used as the electron source, the output electron beam current range was 10-11-10-6 A. When the excitation light source was stable, the electron source could reach a stable state quickly and maintain a stable output for a long time (>5 h). Under the interaction of gold cathode MCP and gold cathode JGS2, the maximum output electron beam current of electron source could reach 10-5 A. At the same time, the contributions of reflected photoelectrons and transmitted photoelectrons generated by the gold cathode to the output current under different electric fields were discussed, as for the deeper working mechanism to be solved. In addition, the output electron beam current could be continuously adjusted by changing the working voltage of MCP, so that the cold cathode electron source could be flexibly and quickly adjusted and responded within a certain range. Finally, a fluorescent screen was used to observe the imaging quality of the output current generated by the above system, and the RGB image captured by the high-definition camera was converted into a grayscale image, and the non-uniformity of the image was calculated to be about 6.5%. Therefore, the imaging uniformity of the cold cathode electron source developed in this paper on the phosphor screen was good. The above results showed that the cold cathode electron source composed of gold cathode MCP excited or combined with gold cathode JGS2 by deep ultraviolet light had the characteristics of long working stability, good uniformity, wide and continuously adjustable beam current range. It can realize the functions of photoelectric conversion and electron multiplication, and is expected to provide a new alternative for the development of electron sources in EI sources in the future.

With the rapid development of big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), and other technological advancements, digital twin (DT) technology is increasingly being applied to the field of bridge structural health monitoring. Achieving the precise implementation of DT relies significantly on a dual-drive approach, combining the influence of both physical model-driven and data-driven methodologies. In this paper, two methods are proposed to predict the displacement and dynamic response of structures under strong winds, namely, a Bayesian Neural Network (BNN) model based on Bayesian inference and a finite element model (FEM) method modified based on genetic algorithms (GAs) and multi-objective optimization (MOO) using response surface methodology (RSM). The characteristics of these approaches in predicting the dynamic response of large-span bridges are explored, and a comparative analysis is conducted to evaluate their differences in computational accuracy, efficiency, model complexity, interpretability, and comprehensiveness. The characteristics of the two methods were evaluated using data collected on the Forth Road Bridge (FRB) as an example under unusual weather conditions with strong wind action. This work proposes a dual-driven approach, integrating machine learning and FEM with GNSS and Earth Observation for Structural Health Monitoring (GeoSHM), to bridge the gap in the limited application of dual-driven methods primarily applied for small- and medium-sized bridges to large-span bridge structures. The research results show that the BNN model achieved higher R2 values for predicting the Y and Z displacements (0.9073 and 0.7969, respectively) compared to the FEM model (0.6167 and 0.6283). The BNN model exhibited significantly faster computation, taking only 20 s, while the FEM model required 5 h. However, the physical model provided higher interpretability and the ability to predict the dynamic response of the entire structure. These findings help to promote the further integration of these two approaches to obtain an accurate and comprehensive dual-driven approach for predicting the structural dynamic response of large-span bridge structures affected by strong wind loading.

Long-span bridges are susceptible to damage, aging, and deformation in harsh environments for a long time. Therefore, structural health monitoring (SHM) systems need to be used for reasonable monitoring and maintenance. Among various indicators, bridge displacement is a crucial parameter reflecting the bridge’s health condition. Due to the simultaneous bearing of multiple environmental loads on suspension bridges, determining the impact of different loads on displacement is beneficial for the better understanding of the health conditions of the bridges. Considering the fact that extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) has higher prediction performance and robustness, the authors of this paper have developed a data-driven approach based on the XGBoost model to quantify the impact between different environmental loads and the displacement of a suspension bridge. Simultaneously, this study combined wavelet threshold (WT) denoising and the variational mode decomposition (VMD) method to conduct a modal decomposition of three-dimensional (3D) displacement, further investigating the interrelationships between different loads and bridge displacements. This model links wind speed, temperature, air pressure, and humidity with the 3D displacement response of the span using the bridge monitoring data provided by the GNSS and Earth Observation for Structural Health Monitoring (GeoSHM) system of the Forth Road Bridge (FRB) in the United Kingdom (UK), thus eliminating the temperature time-lag effect on displacement data. The effects of the different loads on the displacement are quantified individually with partial dependence plots (PDPs). Employing testing, it was found that the XGBoost model has a high predictive effect on the target variable of displacement. The analysis of quantification and correlation reveals that lateral displacement is primarily affected by same-direction wind, showing a clear positive correlation, and vertical displacement is mainly influenced by temperature and exhibits a negative correlation. Longitudinal displacement is jointly influenced by various environmental loads, showing a positive correlation with atmospheric pressure, temperature, and vertical wind and a negative correlation with longitudinal wind, lateral wind, and humidity. The results can guide bridge structural health monitoring in extreme weather to avoid accidents.

Fatigue properties are crucial for critical aero-engine components in extreme service environments, which are significantly affected by surface integrity (SI) indexes (especially surface topography, residual stress σ _res , and microhardness) after machining processes. Normal-direction ultrasonic vibration-assisted face grinding (ND-UVAFG) has advantages in improving the machinability of Inconel 718, but there is a competitive relationship between higher compressive σ _res and higher surface roughness R _a in affecting fatigue strength. The lack of a quantitative relationship between multiple SI indexes and fatigue strength makes the indeterminacy of a regulatory strategy for improving fatigue properties. In this work, a model of fatigue strength ( σ _f ) _sur considering multiple SI indexes was developed. Then, high-cycle fatigue tests were carried out on Inconel 718 samples with different SI characteristics, and the influence of ND-UVAFG process parameters on SI was analyzed. Based on SI indexes data, the ( σ _f ) _sur distribution in the grinding surface layer for ND-UVAFG Inconel 718 samples was determined using the developed model, and then the fatigue crack initiation (FCI) sites were further predicted. The predicted FCI sites corresponded well with the experimental results, thereby verifying this model. A strategy for improving the fatigue life was proposed in this work, which was to transfer the fatigue source from the machined surface to the bulk material by controlling the SI indexes. Finally, a critical condition of SI indexes that FCI sites appeared on the surface or in bulk material was given by fitting the predicted results. According to the critical condition, an SI field where FCI sites appeared in the bulk material could be obtained. In this field, the fatigue life of Inconel 718 samples could be improved by approximately 140%.

CFRP/Ti stacks composed of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic composites (CFRP) and titanium alloys (Ti) are widely used in aerospace fields. However, in the integrated hole-making process of CFRP/Ti stacks, the machining characteristics of various materials are significantly different, and constant machining parameters cannot simultaneously meet the high-quality machining requirements of two materials. In addition, errors exist between the actual thickness of each material layer and the theoretical value, which causes an impediment to the monitoring of the machining interface and the corresponding adjustment of parameters. An adaptive machining method for the helical milling of CFRP/Ti stacks based on interface identification is proposed in this paper. The machining characteristics of the pneumatic spindle and the interface state in the helical milling of CFRP/Ti stacks are analyzed using self-developed portable helical milling equipment, and a new algorithm for the real-time monitoring of the machining interface position and adaptive adjustment of the machining parameters according to the interface identification result is proposed. Helical milling experiments were carried out, the results show that the proposed method can effectively identify the position of the machining interface with good identification accuracy. Moreover, the proposed parameter-adaptive optimized machining method for CFRP/Ti stacks can significantly improve hole diameter accuracy and machining quality.

The present study introduces a novel algorithm based on the homotopy analysis method (HAM) to efficiently solve the equation of motion of simply supported transversely and axially loaded double-beam systems. The original HAM was developed for single partial differential equations (PDEs); the current formulation applies to systems of PDEs. The system of PDEs is derived by modeling two prismatic beams interconnected by a nonlinear inner layer as Euler–Bernoulli beams. We employ the Bubnov–Galerkin technique to turn the PDEs’ system into a system of ordinary differential equations that is further solved with the HAM. The flexibility and straightforwardness of the HAM in computing time-dependent components of the system’s transverse deflection and natural frequencies, in conjunction with the observed fast convergence, offer a robust semi-analytical method for analyzing such systems. Finally, the transverse deflection is built through the modal superposition principle. Thanks to a judicious and high-flexibility selection of initial guesses and convergence control parameters, numerical examples confirm that at most six iterations are needed to achieve convergence, and the results are consistent with the selected benchmark cases.

Obesity has been regarded as one of the major health problems worldwide. Studies demonstrated that ursolic acid (UA) can significantly ameliorate the progress of obesity. However, whether the effect of UA on obesity depends on the regulation of gut microbiota and metabolism is uncertain. To investigate the regulatory role of UA in obese mice from the perspective of intestinal microbiome and metabolomics analyses, an obese mice model was established with a high-fat diet, and the effect of UA on obesity was evaluated. The alterations of gut microbiota and metabolism related to obesity were evaluated by bioinformatic analysis. The results of the gut microbiota analysis showed that UA intervention could shift the Firmicutes to Bacteroidetes ratio at the phylum level and increase in the genera of Lactobacillus, Bacteroides, and Akkermansia. Additionally, metabolomics analysis showed that the beneficial influence of UA on obesity partly depended on amino acid metabolism. The current study demonstrated the roles of UA in the anti-obesity process, which depends in part on alterations in the gut microbiota and metabolism. Therefore, our findings highlight the potential therapeutic effect of UA on the improvement of diet-induced obesity in humans.

It remains a great challenge to achieve large-scale fabrication of single atom-anchored heterostructured catalysts with high stability, low cost, and convenience. Here, the authors report single iron atom-dispersed Mo-based nanosheets synthesized from a scalable two-dimensional mineral hydrogel approach for hydrogen evolution reaction in alkaline condition.

Our duration estimation flexibly adapts to the statistical properties of the temporal context. Humans and non-human species exhibit a perceptual bias towards the mean of durations previously observed as well as serial dependence, a perceptual bias towards the duration of recently processed events. Here we asked whether those two phenomena arise from a unitary mechanism or reflect the operation of two distinct systems that adapt separately to the global and local statistics of the environment. We employed a set of duration reproduction tasks in which the target duration was sampled from distributions with different variances and means. The central tendency and serial dependence biases were jointly modulated by the range and the variance of the prior, and these effects were well-captured by a unitary mechanism model in which temporal expectancies are updated after each trial based on perceptual observations. Alternative models that assume separate mechanisms for global and local contextual effects failed to capture the empirical results.

Abstract This paper numerically investigates the aerodynamic performance of the T106A low-pressure turbine based with different inflow conditions at moderate Reynolds number by using high performance computing based on high order unstructured methods. Two different inflow conditions respectively of uniform and disturbed are considered, while for the latter a small circular cylinder is placed upstream of the cascade to generate wake turbulence as a long-standing disturbance. A high order Fourier-spectral/hp element method is employed to solve the flow dynamics in the cascade of high complex geometries. Flow transition characteristics are quantified in terms of the distribution of cascade wall surface pressure and friction coefficient, the distribution of wake profile pressure loss and the evolution characteristics of boundary layer flow structures as well. The numerical results show that the current numerical simulations accurately predict the flow transition performance of low-pressure turbine cascades and capture the effects of wake-generated disturbance on the cascade, which is shown to effectively modify the flow transition performance as compared with the uniform inflow case.

SiC fiber reinforced SiC ceramic matrix composites (SiCf/SiC) have problems such as poor machining quality and difficult material removal. To study these problems, SiCf/SiC composites were processed by ultrasonic-assisted helical grinding. The exit quality of hole, hole wall morphology and three-dimensional surface roughness of hole wall were explored. The results show that compared with traditional hole making, the material at the exit of the hole made by ultrasonic-assisted helical grinding has no large area chipping. The periodic change of the angle θ between the direction of the cutting speed of the grinding wheel and the fiber direction leads to regular changes in the surface morphology of the hole wall. When θ is 0°/180°, the fiber and the matrix are debonded. When θ is 45°, the fiber is sheared and fractured. When θ is 90°, the fiber is crushed and fractured. When θ is 135°, the fiber has both shear fracture and extrusion fracture. The hole wall surface roughness Sa is the lowest value when θ is 90°, and Sa is the highest value when θ is 135°. Within a certain range, the surface roughness value Sa decreases with the increase of the ultrasonic amplitude, with a maximum decrease of 38.7%, and increases with the increase of the feed rate, with a maximum increase of 39.3%.

Abstract Groundwater-withdrawal-induced land subsidence has been a big concern in Montgomery County, Texas, U.S. since the 2000s. As of 2020, approximately half of the entire county is experiencing subsidence over 5 mm/year. This study aims to investigate ongoing land subsidence in Montgomery County using groundwater-level, extensometer, and GPS datasets. According to this study, land subsidence in Montgomery County since the mid-2000s is primarily contributed by sediment compaction in the Evangeline and Jasper aquifers; the compaction of Jasper aquifer contributes approximately one-third of the land subsidence since the mid-2000s; the pre-consolidation heads of the Chicot, Evangeline, and Jasper aquifers in Montgomery County are close to each other, approximately 15–25 m below mean sea level; the virgin-compaction/head-decline ratio is approximately 1:250 in the Evangeline aquifer and 1:800 in the Jasper aquifer in central and southern Montgomery County. As of 2020, the Jasper groundwater-level altitude is approximately 20–40 m below the pre-consolidation head in the central and southern Montgomery County; the Evangeline groundwater-level altitude is about 40–60 m below the pre-consolidation head. Land subsidence will continue to occur as long as the groundwater-level altitude in either the Evangeline or the Jasper aquifer remains below the pre-consolidation head.

The ER (endoplasmic reticulum) is the largest membrane-bound multifunctional organelle in eukaryotic cells, serving particularly important in protein synthesis, modification, folding and transport. UPR (unfolded protein response) is one of the systematized strategies that eukaryotic cells employ for responding to ER stress, a condition represents the processing capability of ER is overwhelmed and stressed. UPR is usually triggered when the protein folding capacity of ER is overloaded, and indeed, mounting studies were focused on the stress responding side of UPR. In plants, beyond stress response, accumulating evidence suggests that UPR is essential for growth and development, and more importantly, the necessity of UPR in this regard requires its endogenous basal activation even without stress. Then plants must have to fine tune the activation level of UPR pathway for balancing growth and stress response. In this review, we summarized the recent progresses in plant UPR, centering on its role in controlling plant reproduction and root growth, and lay out some outstanding questions to be addressed in the future.

BackgroundBoth the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) staging and the Hong Kong Liver Cancer (HKLC) staging have their own definitions of ideal patients for liver resection (IPLR) in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This study aimed to compare the prognosis of IPLRs between the BCLC and HKLC staging systems, and to identify patients who may benefit from liver resection (LR) in the HKLC staging but beyond the BCLC staging.MethodsThis retrospective study evaluated 1,296 consecutive patients with HCC who underwent LR between August 2013 and April 2021 (457 patients and 1,046 patients were IPLR according to the BCLC and HKLC staging systems, respectively). Overall survival (OS) was compared between the two groups. To assess potential benefit of LR for IPLR in the HKLC staging but beyond the BCLC staging, univariate and multivariate Cox regression analysis was performed to determine prognostic factors of OS, and prognostic stratification was performed based on the selected prognostic factors. The IPLRs in the HKLC staging but beyond the BCLC staging were divided into subgroups according to the prognostic stratification and separately compared with the IPLRs in the BCLC staging.ResultsOS was different between the two staging systems (P = 0.011). All the 457 IPLRs in the BCLC staging were also the IPLRs in the HKLC staging. Diameter of the largest tumor5 cm (HR = 1.58; 95% CI: 1.18–2.10; P = 0.002) and liver cirrhosis (HR = 1.61; 95% CI: 1.19–2.20; P = 0.002) were risk factors for poor OS in IPLRs in the HKLC staging but beyond the BCLC staging; hence, patients were divided into the low-risk (n = 104), intermediate-risk (n = 369), and high-risk groups (n = 116) accordingly. There was no difference in OS between patients in the BCLC staging and patients in low-risk group (P = 0.996). However, OS was significantly different between patients in the BCLC staging and those in intermediate-risk (P = 0.003) and high-risk groups (P < 0.001).ConclusionIPLRs in the BCLC staging system have better prognosis. However, IPLRs in the HKLC staging system but beyond the BCLC staging may have equivalent prognosis to IPLRs in the BCLC staging if the tumor size is ≤ 5 cm and liver cirrhosis is absent.

Vitamin E, also known as tocochromanol, is a lipid-soluble antioxidant that can only be produced by photosynthetic organisms in nature. Vitamin E is not only essential in human diets, but also required for plant environment adaptions. To synthesize vitamin E, specific prenyl groups needs to be incorporated with homogentisate as the first step of reaction. After decades of studies, an almost complete roadmap has been revealed for tocochromanol biosynthesis pathway. However, chlorophyll-derived prenyl precursors for synthesizing tocochromanols are still a mystery. In recent years, by employing forward genetic screening and genome-wide-association approaches, significant achievements were acquired in studying vitamin E. In this review, by summarizing the recent progresses in vitamin E, we provide to date the most updated whole view of vitamin E biosynthesis pathway. Also, we discussed about the role of vitamin E in plants stress response and its potential as signaling molecules.

Yellowhorn (Xanthoceras sorbifolium) is an oil-bearing tree species growing naturally in poor soil. The kernel of yellowhorn contains valuable fatty acids like nervonic acid. However, the genetic basis underlying the biosynthesis of valued fatty acids and adaptation to harsh environments is mainly unexplored in yellowhorn. Here, we presented a haplotype-resolved chromosome-scale genome assembly of yellowhorn with the size of 490.44 Mb containing scaffold N50 of 34.27 Mb. Comparative genomics, in combination with transcriptome profiling analyses, showed that expansion of gene families like long-chain acyl-CoA synthetase and ankyrins contribute to yellowhorn fatty acid biosynthesis and defense against abiotic stresses, respectively. By integrating genomic and transcriptomic data of yellowhorn, we found that the transcription of 3-ketoacyl-CoA synthase gene XS04G00959 was consistent with the accumulation of nervonic and erucic acid biosynthesis, suggesting its critical regulatory roles in their biosynthesis. Collectively, these results enhance our understanding of the genetic basis underlying the biosynthesis of valuable fatty acids and adaptation to harsh environments in yellowhorn and provide foundations for its genetic improvement.

Ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting has a wide range of applications in the field of precision cutting of difficult-to-machine metal materials. However, due to its intermittent cutting characteristics and the weak rigidity of the horn, cutting chatter is prone to occur during its cutting process, which has an important impact on cutting surface quality and tool wear. In this paper, the rigid/viscoplastic rod model is used to simulate the horn in the ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting device, and the influence factors of the amplitude-frequency response of the horn are analyzed. The influence of cutting speed and cutting depth on cutting chatter was studied by ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting experiment of tungsten heavy alloy, and the influence of cutting chatter on cutting surface morphology and diamond tool wear was studied. The research shows that cutting speed will change the excitation frequency of the horn, and reasonable cutting speed can inhibit the occurrence of cutting chatter and avoid resonance of the horn. The cutting depth will affect the excitation amplitude and amplify the vibration amplitude when chatter or resonance occurs. The experimental results show that in ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting of heavy tungsten alloy, chatter suppression can significantly improve the quality of the cutting surface and reduce the wear of diamond tools.

Structural health monitoring (SHM) is vital for ensuring the service safety of aging bridges. As one of the most advanced sensing techniques, Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) could capture massive spatiotemporal information for effective bridge structural health monitoring (BSHM). Unfortunately, GNSS measurements often contain outliers due to various factors (e.g., severe weather conditions, multipath effects, etc.). All such outliers could jeopardize the accuracy and reliability of BSHM significantly. Previous studies have examined the feasibility of integrating the conventional multi-rate Kalman filter (MKF) with an adaptive algorithm in the data processing processes to ensure BSHM accuracy. However, frequent parameter adjustments are still needed in tedious data processing processes. This study proposed an outlier detection method using a Nelder-Mead simplex robust multi-rate Kalman filter (RMKF) for supporting trustworthy BSHM using GNSS and accelerometer. In the end, the authors have validated the proposed method using the monitoring data collected at the Wilford Bridge in the UK. Results showed that the accuracy of the total dynamic vibration displacement time series has been improved by 21% compared with the results using the conventional MKF approach. The authors envision that the proposed method will shed light on reliable and explainable data processing policy and trustworthy BSHM.

In order to solve the problem that it is difficult to prepare highly amorphous Ni-B alloy coating, the control variable method was used to explore the influence law of bath composition on the amorphous process of Ni-B alloy coating, and the electrodeposition method was used to prepare high-B amorphous Ni-B composite coating. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to characterize the phase structure of the sedimentary layer, and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and energy spectrum analysis (EDS) were used to investigate the microscopic morphology and element distribution composition of the sedimentary layer. The results show that the sedimentary layer can be changed from crystalline state to amorphous state by controlling the composition of solution. The resulting sediments are highly amorphous. This system can be electrodeposited to obtain amorphous Ni-B alloy sediments with a complete, close and meticulous surface, and almost no metal crystal diffraction peak. The content of B in the sediments can be increased to 10.21%(mass fraction).

Soil salinization is a major environmental problem that seriously threatens the sustainable development of regional ecosystems and local economies. Fraxinus velutina Torr. is an excellent salt-tolerant tree species, which is widely planted in the saline-alkaline soils in China. A growing body of evidence shows that microRNAs (miRNAs) play important roles in the defense response of plants to salt stress; however, how miRNAs in F. velutina exert anti-salt stress remains unclear. We previously identified two contrasting F. velutina cuttings clones, salt-tolerant (R7) and salt-sensitive (S4) and found that R7 exhibits higher salt tolerance than S4. To identify salt-responsive miRNAs and their target genes, the leaves and roots of R7 and S4 exposed to salt stress were subjected to miRNA and degradome sequencing analysis. The results showed that compared with S4, R7 showed 89 and 138 differentially expressed miRNAs in leaves and roots, respectively. Specifically, in R7 leaves, miR164d, miR171b/c, miR396a, and miR160g targeting NAC1, SCL22, GRF1, and ARF18, respectively, were involved in salt tolerance. In R7 roots, miR396a, miR156a/b, miR8175, miR319a/d, and miR393a targeting TGA2.3, SBP14, GR-RBP, TCP2/4, and TIR1, respectively, participated in salt stress responses. Taken together, the findings presented here revealed the key regulatory network of miRNAs in R7 responding to salt stress, thereby providing new insights into improving salt tolerance of F. velutina through miRNA manipulation.

Abstract Exosomes derived from human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hucMSCs) expressing microRNAs have been highlighted in human diseases. However, the detailed molecular mechanism of hucMSCs-derived exosomal miR-18b-3p on preeclampsia (PE) remains further investigation. We aimed to investigate the effect of exosomes and miR-18b-3p/leptin (LEP) on occurrence of PE. The morphology of the hucMSC and hucMSC-exosomes (Exos) was identified. The exosomes were infected with different lentivirus expressing miR-18b-3p to explore the role of miR-18b-3p in PE. The PE rat model was established by intraperitoneal injection of N-nitro-l-arginine methyl ester. The expression of LEP and miR-18b-3p was tested in PE rat placenta tissues. Also, the effect of exosomes on LEP and miR-18b-3p expression was detected. The systolic blood pressure (SBP), proteinuria, inflammatory factors, the weight of fetal rat and placenta and cell apoptosis in PE rats were detected. Finally, the relationship between miR-18b-3p and LEP was verified using dual-luciferase reporter gene assay and RNA pull-down assay. Exosomes, restoring miR-18b-3p or inhibiting LEP reduced SBP and proteinuria of PE rats as well as increased the weight of fetal rat and placenta, decreased serum levels of inflammatory factors as well as suppressed apoptotic cells of PE rats, exerting a suppressive effect on PE progression. miR-18b-3p was decreased and LEP was increased in placenta tissues of PE rats. LEP was the direct target gene of miR-18b-3p. Upregulation of miR-18b-3p or treatment of the exosomes suppressed LEP expression and reduced PE occurrence, while downregulation of miR-18b-3p had contrary effects. Downregulated LEP reversed the effect of miR-18b-3p reduction on PE rats. HucMSCs-derived exosomal miR-18b-3p targets LEP to participate in the occurrence and development of PE. This study may provide a novel theoretical basis for the mechanism and investigation of PE.

The South-to-North Water Diversion (SNWD) is a multi-decadal infrastructure project in China aimed at alleviating severe water shortages in north China. It has imposed broad social, economic, environmental, and ecological impacts since 2015, particularly in the Beijing-Tianjin metropolitan area. Sentinel-1A/B Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) (2014–2021), Global Positioning System (GPS) (2010–2021), and hydraulic-head data are used to assess the impacts on ongoing land subsidence in Tianjin in this study. Additionally, the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) is employed to highlight primary factors controlling the recent land subsidence. Our results show that the reduced groundwater pumping has slowed down the overall subsidence since 2019 due to SNWD. As of 2021, the subsiding area (>5 mm/year) has reduced to about 5400 km2, approximately 85% of the subsiding area before SNWD; the areas of rapid subsidence (>30 mm/year) and extremely rapid subsidence (>50 mm/year) have reduced to 1300 km2 and 280 km2, respectively, approximately 70% and 60% of the areas before SNWD. Recent subsidence (2016–2021) was primarily contributed by the inelastic compaction of clays in deep aquifers of Aquifers III and IV ranging from approximately 200 to 450 m below the land surface. The ongoing rapid subsidence (>30 mm/year) in Tianjin is limited to border areas adjacent to large industrial cities (e.g., Langfang, Tanshan, Cangzhou) in Hebei Province. Ongoing subsidence will cease when hydraulic heads in the deep Aquifers (IV and V) recover to the new pre-consolidation head, approximately 45 m below the land surface, and subsidence will not be reinitiated as long as the hydraulic heads remain above the new pre-consolidation head. This study reveals the importance of coordinating groundwater and surface water uses at local, regional, and national scales for land subsidence mitigation.

Timely risk information acquisition and diagnosis during foundation pit excavation (FPE) processes are vital for ensuring the safe and effective construction of underground urban infrastructures. Unfortunately, diverse geological and hydrogeological conditions and complex shapes of the foundation pit create barriers for reliable FPE risk prognosis and control. Furthermore, typical support systems during FPE use temporary measures, which have limited capacity to confront excessive loads, large deformations, and seepage. This study aims to establish an intelligent risk prognosis and control framework based on digital twin (DT) for ensuring safe and effective FPE processes. Previous studies have conducted extensive experimental and numerical analyses for examining unsafe conditions during FPE. How to enable intelligent risk prognosis and control of tedious FPE processes by integrating physics-based models and sensory data collected in the field is still challenging. DT could help to establish the interaction and feedback mechanisms between the physical and virtual space. In this study, the authors have established a DT model that consists of a physical space model and a high-fidelity physics-based model of a foundation pit in virtual space. As a result, a mechanism for effective acquisition and fusion of heterogeneous information from both physical and virtual space is established. Then, the authors proposed an integrated model and data-driven approach for examining safety risks during FPE. In the end, the authors have validated the proposed method through a case study of the FPE of the Wuhan Metro Line. The results show that the proposed method could provide theoretical and practical support for future intelligent FPE.

The interface combination of anti-corrosive materials and polymer matrix has a significant effect on the overall performance of the composite coating. However, past research has focused on blending anti-corrosive materials to improve the performance of the polymer matrix. Herein, we proposed a layer-by-layer spray-coating process to further enhance the reinforcing effect of anti-corrosive materials on the polymer matrix by changing their feeding modes. In this paper, taking waterborne polyacrylate (WPA) as an example, two kinds of reinforcement materials commonly used to improve the corrosion resistance of polymer matrix were introduced into the coating system and then applied to the tinplate: cross-linker and microcapsule. Firstly, five types of WPA composite coating systems were designed according to the feeding mode of aziridine cross-linker and the position of benzotriazole@zinc oxide microcapsules (BTA@ZnO MCs). Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and electrical equivalent circuits were used to evaluate the corrosion resistance of these composite coating systems and analyze their electrochemical processes. By spraying the mixture of WPA and aziridine crosslinker as the bottom layer and BTA@ZnO MCs as the top layer, the resulting composite coating exhibited higher corrosion resistance and hydrophobic properties. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and contact angle tests indicated that the feeding mode of aziridine cross-linker and the position of BTA@ZnO MCs played important roles in the compactness and hydrophobicity of the composite coating. Subsequently, the effects of the amount of aziridine cross-linker and BTA@ZnO MCs on the corrosion resistance and physical properties of the composite coating were further analyzed by EIS, water absorption test, contact angle test and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The significant improvement in the corrosion resistance of this composite coating was mainly attributed to the synergistic effect of highly cross-linked network structure and superhydrophobic surface.

Fraxinus velutina Torr with high salt tolerance has been widely grown in saline lands in the Yellow River Delta, China. However, the salt-tolerant mechanisms of F. velutina remain largely elusive. Here, we identified two contrasting cutting clones of F. velutina, R7 (salt-tolerant), and S4 (salt-sensitive) by measuring chlorophyll fluorescence characteristics (Fv/Fm ratio) in the excised leaves and physiological indexes in roots or leaves under salt treatment. To further explore the salt resistance mechanisms, we compared the transcriptomes of R7 and S4 from leaf and root tissues exposed to salt stress. The results showed that when the excised leaves of S4 and R7 were, respectively, exposed to 250 mM NaCl for 48 h, Fv/Fm ratio decreased significantly in S4 compared with R7, confirming that R7 is more tolerant to salt stress. Comparative transcriptome analysis showed that salt stress induced the significant upregulation of stress-responsive genes in R7, making important contributions to the high salt tolerance. Specifically, in the R7 leaves, salt stress markedly upregulated key genes involved in plant hormone signaling and mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling pathways; in the R7 roots, salt stress induced the upregulation of main genes involved in proline biosynthesis and starch and sucrose metabolism. In addition, 12 genes encoding antioxidant enzyme peroxidase were all significantly upregulated in both leaves and roots. Collectively, our findings revealed the crucial defense pathways underlying high salt tolerance of R7 through significant upregulation of some key genes involving metabolism and hub signaling pathways, thus providing novel insights into salt-tolerant F. velutina breeding.

This shows that the era of big data has arrived, and video data plays an important role in it. Video comes from all aspects of life. As a typical unstructured data, video has the characteristics of large memory, and with the leap of society, this characteristic is becoming increasingly obvious. Taking video data analysis as the starting point, this paper proposes a long-term and short-term memory neural network integrating attention mechanism and verifies it in the experimental data set. The experiment shows that this method has superior performance in model accuracy and work efficiency. Therefore, the application of this method to the construction and application of video big data analysis platform is an important step to promote the development of smart cities.

Background. This study investigated whether vascular endothelial necroptosis is involved in deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and how IL-17B facilitates necroptosis signaling. Methods. The DVT mouse model was induced by ligation of the IVC. The cross-sectional area of thrombus increases and the thrombus occupied the entire venous lumen at 48 h after ligation. Meanwhile, the increased expression of p-RIP3/RIP3 was most pronounced at 48 h after ligation, and the p-MLKL/MLKL peaked at 72 h. Results. Abstract Background Tocochromanols are a group of lipid-soluble antioxidants produced by all plants and include the tocopherols, which are ubiquitous in the plant kingdom, and the biosynthetically-related compounds tocotrienols, which along with tocopherols commonly occur in seed of monocots. Most tocochromanols have some level of vitamin E activity, with α-tocopherol being the highest, and as such are essential nutrients in the human diet. Tocochromanols are particularly abundant in seeds and are critical for maintaining seed longevity and proper germination and as seed oils are a major component of the human diet, they are an important source of dietary vitamin E. In vegetative tissues, tocochromanols are important components in plant responses to stressful environments and can accumulate to high levels in response to various stresses including high light, heat, and dark. Results We report a robust, high throughput extraction and HPLC analysis method to quantify the levels of tocopherols and tocotrienols in leaves and seeds of plants, using Arabidopsis and maize tissues as examples. Conclusion The described method provides a rapid, high-throughput, cost-effective approach to quantifying the composition and content of tocopherols, and if needed simultaneously tocotrienols, in vegetative tissues and seeds. Optimized extraction methods are described for the two tissue types and have been used to study tocochromanol (vitamin E) natural variation in seed of large Arabidopsis and maize diversity panels, to assess gene function in T-DNA and Mu-tagged populations of Arabidopsis and maize, respectfully, and study the impact of environmental stresses, including high light stress, heat stress, and dark on tocopherols content and composition of vegetative tissue.

Flower-like ZnO and hexagonally ring-like ZnO nanomaterials were fabricated via a triethylamine assisted solvent process free from any other auxiliary chemicals. Like magic, this process could be implemented just in one minute without any laboratory apparatus. More importantly, the flower-like ZnO was transformed into hexagonally ring-like ZnO as the content of additional water was changed from 10% to 0%. The fast nucleation and morphological evolution of ZnO superstructures could be mainly attributed to surface-self-assembly and base-erosion process. The designed fabrication procedure is simple, feasible, and universal for ZnO with controlled microstructure and improved performances. Abstract With the development of urbanization and the application of renewable energy, wind turbine is becoming an important approach for wind energy reservation and utilization. This study provides a numerical investigation on understanding the surface pressure distribution, flow characteristics and dynamic responses of a parked straight‐bladed vertical axis wind turbine (VAWT), which is helpful for its design. Together with the two‐way coupling method between simulation platforms such as STAR‐CCM+ and ABAQUS, the SST k‐ω turbulence model is used to obtain the surface pressure and surrounding flow of the VAWT, and the finite element method is used to obtain the dynamic responses of its structural components. The results show that the contours of the pressure distribution on the windward surface of the VAWT are similar even under a few different conditions, and the deformation of the VAWT can lead to changes in surface pressure; the turbulent flow characteristics and the wake effect become more obvious as the wind velocity increases; the blades and support arms of the VAWT need to be reinforced during the design, and the effect of the parked condition on the dynamic responses of the VAWT can be neglected. The two‐way coupling method as well as the numerical simulation results is expected to provide references for the design of VAWTs subjected to coming wind action.

Abstract Molybdenum (Mo)‐based materials with abundant electronic properties have been extensively studied in terms of environmental pollutant control. In photocatalysis, thermal catalysis, electrocatalysis, Fenton or Fenton‐like reactions, and other technical means, the properties of different Mo‐based materials have been fully exerted. In this review, the latest developments in Mo‐based materials in the control of water and air pollutants are summarized. In addition, possible methods are discussed to enhance the activity of Mo‐based materials to provide the direction for the design of highly efficient Mo‐based catalysts in the future.

SUV39H1 is a histone methyltransferase involve numerous biological processes, including of aging, embryo development, tumor growth and mitosis via catalysis of dimethylation and trimethylation of lysine 9 of histone H3. Here we report a human induced pluripotent stem cell line (EHTJUi005-A-1) which is generated from a wildtype human iPSC previously established in our laboratory, and this iPSC has a homozygous knockout of 8 bp in Exon 2 of SUV39H1. This iPSC model provides a valuable resource to study epigenetic regulation in extensive biological processes as mentioned above.

LAMIN A/C, encoded by the LMNA gene, supports the normal structure of the cell nucleus and regulates the connection between the nucleus and the cytoskeleton as a component of the nucleus envelope. The loss of expression and function of the LMNA gene would lead to the occurrence of congenital muscular dystrophy and Emery-Dreifuss muscular dystrophy which are collectively named as laminopathies. Here, we report a human induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) line (EHTJUi005-A-3) generated from a wild iPSC (EHTJUi005-A) with homozygous knockout of the gene LMNA through CRISPR/Cas9. This iPSC line provides a useful research model for studying laminopathies disease.
