Objective To explore the efficacy of a novel and simple manual bone cone drilling hematoma drainage for hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage. Methods From January 2021 to December 2022, 103 patients with hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage at The Affiliated Bozhou Hospital of Anhui Medical University were included. They were treated with traditional bone cone drilling hematoma drainage (traditional group, n = 51) and novel-type bone cone drilling hematoma drainage (novel-type group, n = 52). Based on pre- and post-surgery head CT results, the hematoma clearance rate and accuracy of catheter placement were calculated. National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) was used to assess the severity of neurological deficits, and modified Rankin Scale (mRS) was used to evaluate the neurological functional prognosis. Results The hematoma clearance rate in the novel-type group [(45.54 ± 24.23)% vs. (35.08 ± 6.49)%; t = 3.008, P = 0.004] and the accuracy of catheter placement [90.38% (47/52) vs. 68.63% (35/51); χ2 = 7.509, P = 0.006] were significantly higher than those of the traditional group. The novel-type group and the traditional group showed statistically significant differences in hematoma volume (F = 9.157, P = 0.003) and mRS score (F = 4.412, P = 0.038). The postoperative hematoma volume (t = - 4.625, P = 0.000) and mRS score (t = - 2.712, P = 0.008) of the novel-type group were lower than those of the traditional group. Statistically significant differences were observed in hematoma volume (F = 280.635, P = 0.000), NIHSS score (F = 443.320, P = 0.000) and mRS score (F = 552.781, P = 0.000) before and after surgery in the 2 groups; the hematoma volume (t = 10.233, P = 0.000; t = 19.906, P = 0.000), NIHSS score (t = 14.576, P = 0.000; t = 15.286, P = 0.000) and mRS score (t = 20.201, P = 0.000; t = 13.511, P = 0.000) after operation were lower than those before operation in the 2 groups. Conclusions The novel and simple manual bone cone drilling hematoma drainage is a safe and effective treatment for hypertensive intracerebral hemorrhage.

Iron (Fe) deficiency is one of the most common micronutrient imbalances limiting plant growth globally, especially in arid and saline alkali regions due to the decreased availability of Fe in alkaline soils. Malus halliana grows well in arid regions and is tolerant of Fe deficiency. Here, a physiological and metabolomic approach was used to analyze the short-term molecular response of M. halliana roots to Fe deficiency. On the one hand, physiological data show that the root activity first increased and then decreased with the prolongation of the stress time, but the change trend of root pH was just the opposite. The total Fe content decreased gradually, while the effective Fe decreased at 12 h and increased at 3 d. The activity of iron reductase (FCR) increased with the prolongation of stress. On the other hand, a total of 61, 73, and 45 metabolites were identified by GC–MS in three pairs: R12h (Fe deficiency 12 h) vs. R0h (Fe deficiency 0 h), R3d (Fe deficiency 3 d) vs. R0h, and R3d vs. R12h, respectively. Sucrose, as a source of energy, produces monosaccharides such as glucose by hydrolysis, while glucose accumulates significantly at the first (R12h vs. R0h) and third time points (R3d vs. R0h). Carbohydrates (digalacturonate, L-xylitol, ribitol, D-xylulose, glucose, and glycerol) are degraded into pyruvate through glycolysis and pentose phosphate, which participate in the TCA. Glutathione metabolism and the TCA cycle coordinate with each other, actively respond to Fe deficiency stress, and synthesize secondary metabolites at the same time. This study thoroughly examines the metabolite response to plant iron deficiency, highlighting the crucial roles of sugar metabolism, tricarboxylic acid cycle regulation, and glutathione metabolism in the short-term iron deficiency response of apples. It also lays the groundwork for future research on analyzing iron deficiency tolerance.

Neuroblastoma (NB) is one of the most common malignant solid tumors in children, ranks fourth in the incidence of pediatric tumors, and accounts for 15% of pediatric tumor deaths in children in China. Despite the development of new treatment options, the prognosis for high-risk patients is still poor. An animal model that can replicate the tumorigenesis of NB is an important tool for the prevention and treatment of NB. However, there are currently no animal models that can simulate all features of human NB. To provide a reference for the construction of animal models and treatment of NB, this article introduced several animal models of NB that have been extensively researched: the mouse, chick embryo chorioallantoic membrane, and zebrafish models. At the same time, it elaborated on the species, construction methods, characteristics, advantages and disadvantages, and research progress in NB.

Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+) T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) is a rare and aggressive type of acute leukemia. The Philadelphia chromosome is the hallmark of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). The differentiation between Ph+ T-ALL and T-cell lymphoblastic crisis of CML may be problematic in some cases. Here, we report a rare case of de novo Ph+ T-ALL that presented a diagnostic challenge. The overall clinical, immunophenotypic, cytogenetic, and xenotransplantation results suggest a diagnosis of Ph+ T-ALL. The patient was treated with induction chemotherapy including imatinib followed by haploidentical stem cell transplantation and achieved complete remission.
