Abstract

Key Clinical Message: In addition to post‐transplant lymphoproliferative disorders, it is necessary to be alert to the drug‐resistant bacteria or fungal infection, especially Talaromyces marneffei, in kidney transplant patients who have failed antibiotic treatment and whose PET‐CT indicates high metabolic mass in the transplanted kidney with a large number of other organs and lymph nodes. Talaromyces marneffei (TM) is a rare pathogenic fungus that primarily affects individuals with compromised immune systems. Post‐transplant lymphoproliferative disorders (PTLD) are serious complications that can occur after solid organ and cell transplantation. Both TM infection and PTLD can invade the monocyte–macrophage system and often manifest as extranodal masses. This case report describes a kidney transplant patient who presented with symptoms of frequent, urgent, and painful urination over 6 months. Pulmonary CT scans revealed multiple nodules, and PET‐CT demonstrated enlarged lymph nodes in the lungs and the transplanted kidney. The clinical manifestations closely mimicked those of PTLD. The confirmation of TM was achieved through pathogen metagenomic next‐generation sequencing and renal biopsy. Unfortunately, despite receiving treatment with antifungal agents, anti‐infective therapy, the patient's condition did not respond favorably, ultimately resulting in their unfortunate demise due to COVID‐19. Abstract

The tumour necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) triggers the apoptosis of tumour cells. According to recent studies, a number of malignant tumours show resistance to TRAIL due to activation and overexpression of the Yes-associated protein (YAP) signal pathway. Objective: To construct a novel type of bacterial outer membrane vesicles (BEVs) based delivery system to inhibit the growth of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) cells. Methods: BEVs loaded with verteporfin (VPF)/TRAIL (BEVs–TRAIL/VPF) was prepared by ultracentrifugation and filtration. The expression of TRAIL was verified by BCA and transmission electron microscopy. High-performance liquid chromatography was used in determining the drug loading of VPF and drawing a release curve in vitro. MTT and Western blot were adopted to reveal the anti-tumour activity of BEVs–TRAIL/VPF in vitro. Results: The BEVs–TRAIL/VPF particles appeared round by having a well uniform size distribution of approximately 100 nm in diameter. BEVs–TRAIL and VPF were capable of dose-dependently inhibiting the proliferation of SCC25 cells, and the best inhibitory effect appeared at ratios of 5:1–10:1. At 100:5–100:15 ratios, BEVs–TRAIL/VPF had a lower IC50 than free BEVs–TRAIL+VPF group (pConclusion: the administration of TRAIL/VPF in a fixed ratio by BEVs displays a profound inhibitory effect on OSCC cells, providing a novel approach for the treatment of multidrug-resistant OSCC.

Abstract

Quantum dots functionalization has been proven to be a simple modification strategy for improving the electroanalytical performance of two-dimensional electrode materials by increasing the specific surface area and active reaction sites. Herein, a new electrochemical sensing platform was fabricated by SnO2 quantum dot-functionalized Ti3C2 MXene (Ti3C2-SnO2QDs) for the highly sensitive detection of Sudan I in food. Ti3C2-SnO2QDs were prepared via in situ synthesis, which can control the nucleation and growth of SnO2QDs, resulting in the well-dispersed SnO2QDs with 2–3 nm size on the intersheet surface of MXene. Moreover, the formation of Ti3C2-SnO2QDs can effectively restrict the aggregation of Ti3C2 and improve the stability of SnO2QDs in aquatic environment. The prepared nanocomposite can be used as an improved modified material to further increase the electrocatalytic performance and electrochemical signal of Sudan I on the surface of a glassy carbon electrode. Under optimized conditions, the proposed analytical method displayed a linear dependence for Sudan I concentration ranging from 0.008 to 10 μM with a detection limit of 0.27 nM (S/N = 3) by electrochemical cyclic voltammetry. This sensor with excellent selectivity, reproducibility and accuracy was quantitatively validated in commercial ketchup and chili powder. This Ti3C2-SnO2QDs-based Sudan I sensor is expected to expand the application of MXene nanocomposites in electrochemical analysis and is envisioned as a promising candidate for monitoring illegal food additives in real food samples. Abstract

This paper proposes a broadband synthetic aperture imaging lidar based on electro-optic phase modulation, which uses an electro-optic phase modulator to generate a series of broadband chirp signals after the narrow linewidth seed source laser passes through the phase modulator. The de-chirp method is used to achieve pulse compression, and by adopting analogy filters to filter out the interference of multiple harmonics, the near ideal de-chirp signal is attained. The experimental results show that when selecting the first-order sideband signal as the desired signal, we obtain a linear frequency modulated signal with a frequency modulated bandwidth of 3 GHz and a tuning rate of 10 THz/s, and it is achieved the resolution of 0.06 m in the range and 0.02 m in the azimuth.

Abstract

In order to make the unmanned drone with energy limitation under the biasing condition still climb to the cruising altitude, a new height controller was designed inspired by the total energy control theory, and the influence of the speed deviation was introduced to adjust the elevator for the total energy distribution, so as to solve the coupling problem between longitudinal trajectory control and velocity control. Taking a certain type of target machine as the object, the simulation is carried out under two kinds of extreme biasing conditions. By comparing the simulation results of the traditional and improved control structure, it shows that the new controller is effective in practical engineering applications.
