金沢大学理工研究域機械工学系, 道路トンネルは閉鎖された空間であり，火災が発生すると煙の遡上などにより，明り部よりも被害が拡大する可能性がある．近年の安心安全が求めらる社会情勢から，トンネル内の非常用施設を増強すべきと考えるが，費用や期間の面から，全てのトンネルの非常用施設の充実を図ることは難しい．このような課題に対し，リスクアナリシス手法を用いて，各々のトンネルの潜在的火災リスクを評価し，それに見合う対策を選定し，対策が必要なトンネルに対し，計画的に対応すれば，効率的に，未然に大きな被害を回避することができると考える．本稿では高速道路トンネル火災に関する「リスクアナリシス手法」を用いた，対策トンネルの絞り込みと対策の選定方法や，計画的，効率的に日本の高速道路トンネルの火災リスクを低減するしくみを提案する．\n The devastation caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011 has taught us, once again, the importance of taking measures in advance to prevent foreseeable disasters. In Europe, an EU directive was issued after a major tunnel fire, and member states have enacted and are implementing stricter tunnel safety standards. And the accident at Sasago tunnel in 2012, has reasserted the importance of putting "safety first." With progress in simulation technology to reproduce tunnel fires accurately, it is now possible to identify potentially high-risk tunnels before fires occur. Our study on the current issues and their countermeasures are reported in this paper.

Abstract

Background: Osteochondritis dissecans of the humeral capitellum (capitellar OCD) is a common injury among youth baseball players, but there are only a few studies that report on return to play with nonoperative treatment. Purpose: To evaluate the medial elbow joint laxity under valgus stress and radiocapitellar congruity in patients with capitellar OCD and evaluate their relationship to predicting rehabilitation outcome. Study Design: Case-control study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: Capitellar OCD was diagnosed in 81 patients included in our study. All patients were elementary school students who initially received rehabilitation treatment after injury. The rates of return to the same level of play or higher (RTSP) were calculated and correlated with the joint gap difference between the dominant and nondominant elbows using ultrasound and radiocapitellar congruity (proximal, lateral, and anterior radial translation length), which was assessed using plain radiographs of the dominant elbow. Results: The overall RTSP rates of patients with nonoperative treatment was 70.4% (57/81). The multivariate logistic regression analysis identified OCD classification (stage I, odds ratio [OR], 4.076; 95% CI, 1.171-14.190) and 1 continuous variable (proximal radial translation length on anteroposterior view, OR, 0.661; 95% CI, 0.479-0.911) as the significant predictive factors for outcome after nonoperative treatment. Conclusion: The early stage of capitellar OCD in youth baseball players can be successfully treated nonoperatively in the majority of cases. The presence of proximal radial translation can predict the outcome of nonoperative management of capitellar OCD. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Interfacial chemical bonding states between polyimides (PI) and sputter coated Cr-SiO2 thin film have been investigated mainly by XPS to obtain a reliability basis for thin film resistor application of Cr-SiO2.We tried to leave different level of etch residue by applying two etchants of different etching power, then analyzed the etched surfaces by XPS, TEM and EXAFS. It proved that at first Cr in the sputtered Cr-SiO2 reacts with oxygen atoms which were introduced during O2 plasma treatment of the PI surface and also with original carbonyl oxygen of the PI to offer Cr-O-C bond at the Cr-SiO2/PI interface. This was concluded from the attenuation of Cls peak intensity corresponding to the carbonyl group. Then after thermal annealing, Cr extracted most of the interface oxygen to give a Cr2O3 layer of a discrete thickness. These phenomena were supported by TEM and SR-EXAFS as well.

Abstract

The structure change of a Cr-Si-O thin film with regard to heat-treatment was investigated not only by the transmission XAFS method but by the surface sensitive XAFS method using synchrotron radiation. As a result of transmission XAFS, the Cr-Si-O thin film as sputtered has an amorphous structure like a mixture of SiO2, Cr and CrSix. After heat-treatment to 650 K, Si-Cr bonds decreased and Si-O and Cr-Cr bonds increased. CrSix is unstable in the system. The interfacial studies by the surface XAFS method showed i) at the interface with polyimide, there is a thin layer which is dominantly made of Cr2O3 and ii) at the interface with Al, Cr atoms are mainly coordinated to Cr. Analyses by the XAFS method gave consistent results with chemical analyses by x-ray photoelectron spei roscopy and observation by transmission electron microscopy.

Abstract

Construction of the ether-linked methyl 5a'-carba-β-lactoside (3) and N-acetyl-5a'-carba-β-lactosaminide (4) were carried out starting from the coupling products 15 and 16, readily obtained by coupling between 1,2-anhydro-4,6-O-benzylidene-5a-carba-D-mannopyranose (7) and the oxide anions generated from methyl 2,3,6-tri-O-benzyl-β-D-glucopyranoside (8) and methyl 2-acetamido-3,6-di-O-benzyl-2-deoxy-β-D-glucopyranoside (10), respectively. Their 5a-carba-α-D-mannopyranose moieties were transformed into those of 5a-carba-β-D-galactopyranose by a sequence of reaction: Oxidation of the 2'-OH group, epimerization of the C-1' with DBU, selective reduction of the carbonyl group, and epimerization of the C-4' via oxidation and then reduction of 4'-OH or SN2 reaction of the 4'-mesylate with an acetate anion. Reaction of 1,2-anhydro-6-O-benzyl-3,4-O-isopropylidene-5a-carba-α-D-galactopyranose (6), initially expected as the potential donor, with these oxide anions did not give any ether-linked products, rather resulting in elimination reaction of 7. However, coupling of the epoxide 6 with methyl 2-acetamido-4-amino-2,4-dideoxy-β-D-glucopyranosides (19) easily gave rise to imino-linked 5a'-carbadisaccharide derivative 38, which, after deprotection, gave the imino-linked congener 5. On the other hand, two biologically inter esting carbadisaccharides including methyl N,N'-diacetyl-5a'-carbachitobioside (45) were obtained from the versatile intermediate 24.

Abstract

A kinetic study has been conducted on the reactions of (substituted arylthio)trimethylgermanes with aroyl chlorides giving S-aryl thioaroates and chlorotrimethylgermane. The rates of the reactions were distinctly accelerated in polar solvents. Both of the effects due to the substituents of the arylthio and the aroyl moieties gave positive ρ values especially in a polar solvent. A mechanism involving initial 5-coordination, ionic cleavage of the Ge–S bond giving arenethiolate ion, and followed by rate-determining addition of the thiolate to the carbonyl carbon, was suggested for the reaction.

Abstract

The effect of ambient gases on degradation and rejuvenation of ZnO varistors was investigated from the viewpoint of voltage-current characteristics. Ambient oxygen gas suppressed increases in the leakage current during ac biasing, while it rejuvenated degraded samples. The time dependence of rejuvenation indicated that ion migrations, possibly the desorption and adsorption of oxygen ions at the grain boundaries, occur reversibly in degradation and rejuvenation. Moreover, a noticeable difference was observed between V–I curve shapes after ac biasing in nitrogen and in oxygen atmospheres.

[reaction: see text] Two derivatives of ethylenedioxy-substituted terthiophene-fullerene dyads were newly synthesized as the precursors for polythiophene having fullerene side chains. By electrolytic oxidation of dyad 1, the charm-bracelet type polythiophene, poly-1, was obtained as a purple film, which showed electrochemical activity, electrochromism, and photoelectronic response.
