ObjectiveTo use bibliometric methods to analyze the prospects and development trends of artificial intelligence(AI) in oncology nursing from 1994 to 2024, providing guidance and reference for oncology nursing professionals and researchers.MethodsThe core set of the Web of Science database was searched for articles from 1994 to 2024. The R package “Bibliometrix” was used to analyze the main bibliometric features, creating a three-domain chart to display relationships among institutions, countries, and keywords. VOSviewer facilitated co-authorship analysis and its visualization was used for co- occurrence analysis. CiteSpace calculated citation bursts and keyword occurrences.ResultsA total of 517 articles were retrieved, representing 80 countries/regions. The United States had the highest number of publications, with 188 articles (36.4%), followed by China with 79 articles (15.3%). The top 10 institutions in terms of publication output were all U.S.-based universities or cancer research institutes, with Harvard University ranking first. Prominent research teams, such as those led by Repici, Aerts, and Almangush, have made significant contributions to studies on AI in tumor risk factor identification and symptom management. In recent years, the keywords with the highest burst strength were “model” and “human papillomavirus.” The most studied tumor type was breast cancer. While Cancers published the highest number of articles, journals such as CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians and PLOS ONE had higher impact and citation rates.ConclusionBy analyzing the volume of AI literature in oncology nursing, combined with the statistical analysis of institutions, core authors, journals, and keywords, the research hotspots and trends in the application of AI in oncology nursing over the past 30 years are revealed. AI in oncology nursing is entering a stage of rapid development, providing valuable reference for scholars and professionals in the field.

Abstract China’s strategy to concurrently address climate change and air pollution mitigation is hindered by a lack of comprehensive information on source contributions to health damage and carbon emissions. Here we show notable discrepancies between source contributions to CO2 emissions and fine particulate matter (PM2.5)-related mortality by using adjoint emission sensitivity modeling to attribute premature mortality in 2017 to 53 sector and fuel/process combinations with high spatial resolution. Our findings reveal that monetized PM2.5 health damage exceeds climate impacts in over half of the analyzed subsectors. In addition to coal-fired energy generators and industrial boilers, the combined health and climate costs from energy-intensive processes, diesel-powered vehicles, domestic coal combustion, and agricultural activities exceed 100 billion US dollars, with health-related costs predominating. This research highlights the critical need to integrate the social costs of health damage with climate impacts to develop more balanced mitigation strategies toward these dual goals, particularly during fuel transition and industrial structure upgrading.

Abstract The objective of regenerative wound healing dressings is to accelerate skin tissue regeneration and restore normal physiological function at wound sites. Achieving this goal requires biomaterials capable of repairing distinct phases of wound healing in a way that balances material function, degradation, safety, and tissue growth. In this study, we introduced a novel dual-stage wound dressing system comprising methacrylic anhydride-modified recombinant humanized type III collagen (rhCol III-MA) and methacrylic anhydride-modified dopamine (DMA) (RMDM), which was synthesized through free radical polymerization and π-π stacking. Within this system, RMDM was formulated into two forms with identical compositions: hydrogel and sponge, tailored for application across various stages of wound repair. These materials displayed favorable hemocompatibility, biocompatibility, antioxidant properties, and angiogenic potential in vitro. Moreover, the in vivo experiments also demonstrated that sponges could rapidly stop the bleeding of wounds in mouse tail amputation and liver incision models. Notably, the sponge/gel (S/G) system accelerated wound healing compared to individual sponge and gel treatments in a rat full-thickness skin wound model, underscoring the synergistic benefits of combining sponge and gel materials for wound repair at different stages. Therefore, this research provides valuable insights into designing advanced biomaterials that can be tailored to specific stages of wound healing, which may have significant potential for biomedical applications. Abstract The impact of wildfire smoke is largely determined by the height where they are injected into the atmosphere. Current plume rise models tend to underestimate the high smoke injection heights because the previous models and configurations were mainly constrained and validated by the plume height observation from Multi‐angle Imaging SpectroRadiometer (MISR), of which most cases inject low within the planetary boundary layer (PBL). Here we retrieve smoke injection heights from intense pyro‐convections based on pyrocumulonimbus satellite images in PYROCAST data set alongside meteorological reanalysis. It largely augments the MISR data set with smoke injection heights up to the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere (UTLS). Constrained by both MISR and PYROCAST, we show that a scaling down of factor 0.2 to the entrainment efficiency parameterized in the one‐dimensional plume‐rise model (1‐D PRM, Freitas et al. (2010, https://doi.org/10.5194/acp‐10‐585‐2010)) significantly improves the model performance for high injection cases without compromising the accuracy of low injection cases. We also found that the fire intensity input can be obtained through a simplified dependence on the biome and biomass burning emission flux. While being unable to represent high cases before, the improved 1‐D PRM model predicts similarly well in injection heights both low near the PBL height and high into the UTLS. The improved 1‐D PRM is then coupled into Community Atmosphere Model with Chemistry (CAM‐chem). The coupled CAM‐chem‐PRM, when predicting injection heights in tests imitating real BB emission, exhibited consistent predictive capabilities with the standalone 1‐D PRM while saw a mere 15% increase of computation time.

In order to find new potential fungicides and anticancer agents, a series of new coumarin amide derivatives bearing fluorine were synthesized and characterized spectroscopically. Compounds A6, B11, C2 and C7 were confirmed by X-ray diffraction further. The antifungal bioassays against five typical pathogenic fungi showed that compound C5 exhibited more remarkable fungicidal activities against Alternaria alternata (EC50 = 11.5 μg/mL), Colletotrichum gloeosporioides (EC50 = 18.0 μg/mL), Pyricularia grisea (EC50 = 33.8 μg/mL), surpassing kresoxim-methyl. Molecular docking result indicated that C5 displayed high binding affinity to chitinase, which plays crucial role in degradation and remodeling of fungal cell walls. In addition, the anticancer bioassays against three cancer cells demonstrated that compound A4 displayed excellent growth inhibitory effect against Hela cells with IC50 value of 8.13 μM, and low cytotoxicity against human normal cells BEAS-2B. Flow cytometric analysis further demonstrated that A4 significantly arrested cell cycle at the S phase and trigger apoptosis. With the above interesting biological profile, these coumarin derivatives could be used as anfungicides and anticancer candidates.

The Pan-Eurasian Experiment Modelling Platform (PEEX-MP) is one of the key blocks of the PEEX Research Programme. The PEEX MP has more than 30 models and is directed towards seamless environmental prediction. The main focus area is the Arctic-boreal regions and China. The models used in PEEX-MP cover several main components of the Earth’s system, such as the atmosphere, hydrosphere, pedosphere and biosphere, and resolve the physical-chemical-biological processes at different spatial and temporal scales and resolutions. This paper introduces and discusses PEEX MP multi-scale modelling concept for the Earth system, online integrated, forward/inverse, and socioeconomical modelling, and other approaches with a particular focus on applications in the PEEX geographical domain. The employed high-performance computing facilities, capabilities, and PEEX dataflow for modelling results are described. Several virtual research platforms (PEEX-View, Virtual Research Environment, Web-based Atlas) for handling PEEX modelling and observational results are introduced. The overall approach allows us to understand better physical-chemical-biological processes, Earth’s system interactions and feedbacks and to provide valuable information for assessment studies on evaluating risks, impact, consequences, etc. for population, environment and climate in the PEEX domain. This work was also one of the last projects of Prof. Sergej Zilitinkevich, who passed away on 15 February 2021. Since the finalization took time, the paper was actually submitted in 2023 and we could not argue that the final paper text was agreed with him.

Abstract Multiphase oxidation of sulfur dioxide (SO2) is an important source of sulfate in the atmosphere. There are, however, concerns that protons produced during SO2 oxidation may cause rapid acidification of aerosol water and thereby quickly shut down the fast reactions favored at high pH. Here, we show that the sustainability of sulfate production is controlled by the competing effects of multiphase buffering and acidification, which can be well described by a characteristic buffering time, τbuff. Both GEOS‐Chem simulations and observations show that globally, τbuff is long enough (days) to sustain sulfate production over most populated regions, where the acidification of aerosol water is counteracted by the strong buffering effect of NH4+/NH3. Our results highlight the importance of anthropogenic ammonia emissions and pervasive human influences in shaping the chemical environment of the atmosphere.

Abstract The growth of newly formed particles through new particle formation (NPF) contributes a significant fraction to the cloud condensation nuclei, yet the driving mechanisms remain unclear, especially for polluted environments. To investigate the potential species contributing for nanoparticle growth in environments with significant anthropogenic influences, we measured the hygroscopicity of newly formed particles at 20–40 nm at a rural observational site in the North China Plain during winter 2018. Our results demonstrate that these particles were not very hygroscopic, with the mean hygroscopicity parameter κ of 0.13 ± 0.09. Clear differences in the inferred κ of the growing material responsible for the growth were observed among different events, indicating that even at the same region, the compounds driving particle growth may not be identical. This may be synergistically influenced by the NPF precursors, oxidants and meteorological conditions, suggesting complex mechanisms might co‐exist behind nanoparticle growth in polluted environments.

Abstract The regeneration of articular cartilage posed a formidable challenge due to the restricted treatment efficacy of existing therapies. Scaffold-based tissue engineering emerges as a promising avenue for cartilage reconstitution. However, most scaffolds exhibit inadequate mechanical characteristics, poor biocompatibility, or absent cell adhesion sites. In this study, cartilage-like protein-polysaccharide hybrid hydrogel based on DOPA-modified hyaluronic acid, bovine type I collagen (Col I), and recombinant humanized type II collagen (rhCol II), denoted as HDCR. HDCR hydrogels possessed the advantage of injectability and in situ crosslinking through pH adjustment. Moreover, HDCR hydrogels exhibited a manipulable degradation rate and favorable biocompatibility. Notably, HDCR hydrogels significantly induced chondrogenic differentiation of rabbit bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells in vitro, as demonstrated by the upregulation of crucial chondrogenic genes (type II collagen, aggrecan) and the abundant accumulation of glycosaminoglycan. This approach presented a strategy to manufacture injectable, biodegradable scaffolds based on cartilage-like protein-polysaccharide polymers, offering a minimally invasive solution for cartilage repair. Abstract Background Diabetes and hyperlipidaemia are both risk factors for coronary artery disease, and both are associated with a high triglyceride-glucose index (TyG index). The TyG index has been presented as a marker of insulin resistance (IR). Its utility in predicting and detecting cardiovascular disease has been reported. However, few studies have found it to be a helpful marker of atherosclerosis in patients with symptomatic coronary artery disease (CAD). The purpose of this study was to demonstrate that the TyG index can serve as a valuable marker for predicting coronary and carotid atherosclerosis in symptomatic CAD patients, regardless of diabetes mellitus and hyperlipidaemia. Methods This study included 1516 patients with symptomatic CAD who underwent both coronary artery angiography and carotid Doppler ultrasound in the Department of Cardiology at Tianjin Union Medical Center from January 2016 to December 2022. The TyG index was determined using the Ln formula. The population was further grouped and analysed according to the presence or absence of diabetes and hyperlipidaemia. The Gensini score and carotid intima-media thickness were calculated or measured, and the patients were divided into four groups according to TyG index quartile to examine the relationship between the TyG index and coronary or carotid artery lesions in symptomatic CAD patients. Results In symptomatic CAD patients, the TyG index showed a significant positive correlation with both coronary lesions and carotid plaques. After adjusting for sex, age, smoking, BMI, hypertension, diabetes, and the use of antilipemic and antidiabetic agents, the risk of developing coronary lesions and carotid plaques increased across the baseline TyG index. Compared with the lowest quartile of the TyG index, the highest quartile (quartile 4) was associated with a greater incidence of coronary heart disease [OR = 2.55 (95% CI 1.61, 4.03)] and carotid atherosclerotic plaque [OR = 2.31 (95% CI 1.27, 4.20)] (P

Raw potato fries are a type of potato by-product (PBP), and they have great potential as a partial replacement of grain in animal feeds to improve the environmental sustainability of food production. This study aimed to investigate the effects of replacing corn with different levels of PBP (0%, 12.84%, 25.65%, and 38.44%) in the total mixed ration (TMR) of Angus bull. Sixty 16-month-old Angus bulls (548.5 ± 15.0 kg, mean ± SD) were randomly assigned to four treatments. The results indicated that with the increase in the substitution amount of PBP, the body weight decreased significantly. The dry matter apparent digestibility and starch apparent digestibility linearly decreased as PBP replacement increased. The feed ingredient composition in the TMR varied, leading to a corresponding change in the rumen microbiota, especially in cellulolytic bacteria and amylolytic bacteria. The abundance of Succiniclasticum in the 12.84% PBP and 38.44% PBP diets was significantly higher than that in the 0% PBP and 25.65% PBP diets. The abundance of Ruminococcus linearly increased. In conclusion, using PBP to replace corn for beef cattle had no negative impact on rumen fermentation, and the decrease in apparent digestibility explained the change in growth performance. Its application in practical production is highly cost-effective and a strategy to reduce food waste.

To discover novel and effective potential anticancer agents, a series of azophenol derivatives containing 1,3,4-oxadiazoles moiety was synthesized and investigated for their anticancer activities against several human cancer cell lines by MTT method. Their structures were characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, IR and HRMS spectral analyses. Among the prepared compounds, 5df displayed significant anti-proliferative activity against HCT116 cancer cells with an IC50 value of 4.09 ± 0.04 µM. Moreover, this compound had low cytotoxicity against normal cells. Flow cytometric analysis indicated that compound 5df arrested the cell cycle at S phase and induced apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner. Additionally, network pharmacology analysis calculated that 5df might target several key proteins, including AKT serine/threonine kinase 1 (AKT1), SRC proto-oncogene, non-receptor tyrosine kinase (SRC). Furthermore, molecular docking study indicated that 5df exhibited potentially high binding affinity to these target proteins with binding energies lower than −8 kcal/mol. These findings provide valuable insights for the development of azophenol derivatives as potential anticancer agents.

Abstract Smoke from vegetation fires affects air quality, atmospheric cycling, and the climate in the Amazon rain forest. A major unknown has remained the quantity of long-range transported smoke from Africa in relation to local and regional fire emissions. Here we quantify the abundance, seasonality, and properties of African smoke in central Amazonia. We show that it accounts for ~ 60% of the black carbon concentrations during the wet season and ~ 30% during the dry season. The African smoke influences aerosol-radiation interactions across the entire Amazon, with the strongest impact on the vulnerable eastern basin, a hot spot of climate and land use change. Our findings further suggest that the direct influence of African smoke has been historically relevant for soil fertilization, the carbon and water cycles, and, thus, the development of the Amazon forest ecosystem, even in the pre-industrial era.

Abstract Black carbon (BC) plays an important role in the climate system because of its strong warming effect, yet the magnitude of this effect is highly uncertain owing to the complex mixing state of aerosols. Here we build a unified theoretical framework to describe BC’s mixing states, linking dynamic processes to BC coating thickness distribution, and show its self-similarity for sites in diverse environments. The size distribution of BC-containing particles is found to follow a universal law and is independent of BC core size. A new mixing state module is established based on this finding and successfully applied in global and regional models, which increases the accuracy of aerosol climate effect estimations. Our theoretical framework links observations with model simulations in both mixing state description and light absorption quantification.

Abstract With improving PM2.5 air quality, the tropospheric ozone (O3) has become the top issue of China’s air pollution control. Here, we combine comprehensive observational data analysis with models to unveil the contributions of different processes and precursors to the change of O3 during COVID-19 lockdown in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD), one of the most urbanized megacity regions of eastern China. Despite a 44 to 47% reduction in volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions, maximum daily 8-h average (MDA8) ozone concentrations increase from 28 ppbv in pre-lockdown to 43 ppbv in lockdown period. We reproduce this transition with the WRF-Chem model, which shows that ~80% of the increase in MDA8 is due to meteorological factors (seasonal variation and radiation), and ~20% is due to emission reduction. We find that daytime photochemistry does not lead to an increase but rather a decrease of daytime O3 production during the lockdown. However, the reduced O3 production is overwhelmed by the weakened nitric oxide (NO) titration resulting in a net increase of O3 concentration. Although the emission reduction increases O3 concentration, it leads to a decrease in the Ox (O3 + NO2) concentration, suggesting reduced atmospheric oxidation capacity on a regional scale. The dominant effect of NO titration demonstrates the importance of prioritizing VOCs reduction, especially from solvent usage and the petrochemical industry with high emission ratios of VOCs/NOx.

Supramolecular nanofiber peptide assemblies had been used to construct functional hydrogel biomaterials and achieved great progress. Here, a new class of biphenyl-tripeptides with different C-terminal amino acids sequences transposition were developed, which could self-assemble to form robust supramolecular nanofiber hydrogels from 0.7 to 13.8 kPa at ultra-low weight percent (about 0.27 wt%). Using molecular dynamics simulations to interrogate the physicochemical properties of designed biphenyl-tripeptide sequences in atomic detail, reasonable hydrogen bond interactions and “FF” brick (phenylalanine-phenylalanine) promoted the formation of supramolecular fibrous hydrogels. The biomechanical properties and intermolecular interactions were also analyzed by rheology and spectroscopy analysis to optimize amino acid sequence. Enhanced L929 cells adhesion and proliferation demonstrated good biocompatibility of the hydrogels. The storage modulus of BPAA-AFF with 10 nm nanofibers self-assembling was around 13.8 kPa, and the morphology was similar to natural extracellular matrix. These supramolecular nanofiber hydrogels could effectively support chondrocytes spreading and proliferation, and specifically enhance chondrogenic related genes expression and chondrogenic matrix secretion. Such biomimetic supramolecular short peptide biomaterials hold great potential in regenerative medicine as promising innovative matrices because of their simple and regular molecular structure and excellent biological performance.

Biomass burning emissions have been shown to influence clouds in the Atlantic, but its influence in other regions is not well known. Here, the authors show that biomass burning aerosols increase the low-cloud cover over subtropical southeastern Asia by a similar magnitude than over the Atlantic.

Osthole is a natural coumarin compound which isolated from Cnidium monnieri (L.) Cusson, has extensive pharmacological activities and could be used as a leading compound for drug research and development. In a continuous effort to develop new acetylcholinesterase inhibitors from natural products, eighteen osthole esters were designed, synthesized, and confirmed by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and HRMS. The anti-AChE activity of These derivatives was measured at a concentration of 1.0 mol/mL in vitro by Ellman's method, and the result showed that 4m and 4o had moderate inhibitory activities with 68.8% and 62.6%, respectively. Molecular docking study results further revealed AChE interacted optimally with docking poses 4m and 4o. Network pharmacology also predicted that compound 4m could be involved in Ras signaling pathway, which made it a potential therapeutic target of AD.

Immunotherapy has demonstrated great clinical success in the field of oncology in comparison with conventional cancer therapy. However, cancer immunotherapy still encounters major challenges that limit its efficacy against different types of cancers and the patients show minimal immune response to the immunotherapy. To overcome these limitations, combinatorial approaches with other therapeutics have been applied in the clinic. Simultaneously, nano-drug delivery system has played an important role in increasing the antitumor efficacy of various treatments and has been increasingly utilized for synergistic immunotherapy to further enhance the immunogenicity of the tumors. Specifically, they can promote the infiltration of immune cells within the tumors and create an environment that is more sensitive to immunotherapy, particularly in solid tumors, by accelerating tumor accumulation and permeability. Herein, this progress report provides a brief overview of the development of nano-drug delivery systems, classification of combinatory cancer immunotherapy and recent progress in tumor immune synergistic therapy in the application of nano-drug delivery systems.

In this study, the laxative effect of Bacillus coagulans BC01 (BC01) in mice was investigated using a functional constipation mouse model. Six-week-old male specific pathogen-free (SPF) Kunming mice were randomly divided into five groups: normal control group (saline), model group (loperamide hydrochloride), drug control group (bisacodyl), BC01 low-dose group (4.0 × 108 CFU/mL) and BC01 high-dose group (4.0 × 109 CFU/mL). Except for the normal group, the functional constipation model was established by administering 0.25 mL of a loperamide hydrochloride suspension (1 mg/mL) twice daily for four consecutive days by oral gavage. After modeling, the BC01 groups were administered 0.25 mL of BC01. The bisacodyl served as a control and was administered orally at a dose of 100 mg/kg, while the other groups were administered 0.25 mL of sterile saline. After 7 days of continuous administration, the experimental mice were again induced by loperamide hydrochloride. During this period, the mechanism of BC01 to improve constipation symptoms in mice was analyzed by measuring the changes in body weight, fecal water content, small intestine propulsion rate, histology of small intestinal tissue sections, fecal microbial diversity, serum indices, as well as mRNA and protein expression levels in the small intestinal tissue. BC01 was found to significantly promote the intestinal propulsion rate and increase the fecal water content in the mice. BC01 could also alleviates constipation by regulating gastrointestinal motility (substance P, motilin, endothelin-1, somatostatin, and vasoactive intestinal peptide), gene expression (c-Kit, SCF, COX-2, NF-κB, iNOS, and eNOS), intestinal inflammation (eNOS, iNOS, NF-κB), and the intestinal microbiota composition in the constipated mice. In addition, the high-dose BC01 treatment had the best preventive effect on constipation. BC01 is a probiotic strain to effectively relieve the adverse effects of constipation.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of potato vine and leaf mixed silage (PVS) on rumen fermentation and the microbe in ruminants and to improve the utilization of PVS resources in ruminants through in vitro gas production and feeding trials. The experiment was divided into three groups: PVS1 (50% corn + 50% potato vine and leaf silage), PVS2 (75% potato vine and leaf + 15% rice straw + 10% cornmeal silage) and whole-plant corn silage (CS). The in vitro gas production results showed that there was a significant reduction in PVS groups in the indexes of total gas (p < 0.05) and CH4 production (p < 0.05). The digestibility of dry matter (p < 0.05), neutral detergent fiber (NDF) (p < 0.05), and acid detergent fiber (ADF) (p < 0.05) at 48 h were decreased in the PVS group. For the rumen fermentation indexes, the pH (p < 0.05), microbial crude protein (MCP) (p < 0.05), and acetate to propionate (p < 0.05) showed an increase in the PVS group, but a decrease in the total volatile fatty acid concentration (p < 0.05). In the feeding trial, different silages in diets had no significant effect on the rumen fermentation indexes (p > 0.05). In the rumen microbe composition, the PVS diet significantly reduced the abundance of Prevotella (p < 0.05) compared with the CS diet group. The PVS2 diet significantly increased the abundance of the Lachnospiraceae_XPB1014_group (p < 0.05) and Bacteroidales_bacterium_Bact_22 (p < 0.05) compared with the CS diet group. In conclusion, PVS had no negative effect on rumen fermentation characteristics and rumen microbial flora and could significantly reduce rumen gas production compared to CS, positively mitigating animal husbandry CH4 emissions and environmental protection.

We have analyzed crystallization process of the MgxNi10 (x = 20.5 – 26.5) alloys using phase diagram of Mg-Ni system. Their structure, atomic arrangement and crystal defects were tested by XRD, SEM and HRTEM, respectively. Hydrogenation and dehydrogenation behaviors were measured by pressure-composition-isotherm measurement. The results show that the crystallization processes of the MgxNi10 (x = 20.5 and 22.5) alloys are unlike those of the MgxNi10 (x = 24.5 and 26.5) alloys, but their room temperature microstructure all contain Mg2Ni and eutectic structure of Mg2Ni + α-Mg. The alloys are composed of Mg2Ni phase and α-Mg phase. The addition of Mg is beneficial to the formation of eutectic structure. The alloys have all good activation property. At a lower temperature, such as 200 and 250 °C, the hydrogen absorption rate and hydrogen saturation ratio are significantly lower than those of the alloy at the higher temperatures, such as 300 and 350 °C. At 350 °C, the hydrogen absorption capacity of the alloy increase and the hydrogen release efficiency of the alloy decreases with the increase of Mg content. The time of 90% of the amount of saturated hydrogen absorption and desorption of the alloys is not more than 10 and 2 minutes, respectively. The hydrogen desorption rate of the Mg22.5Ni10 alloy in the four investigated alloys is relatively large and up to 7.170 wt.%.min-1.

Abstract To explore the risk factors of thrombosis in patients with JAK2V617F‐mutated myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), a cohort of 1537 Chinese patients with JAK2V617F‐mutated MPN was retrospectively analyzed. The Kaplan‐Meier method and multivariate Cox analysis were used to study the risk factors of thrombosis in patients with JAK2V617F‐mutated MPN. Among the 1537 MPN patients, 931, 468, and 138 had polycythemia vera (PV), essential thrombocythemia (ET), and primary myelofibrosis (PMF), respectively. The median follow‐up time was 7 years (range 1‐47), and 12.8% of patients (197/1537) died during this period. A total of 16.8% (259/1399) of PV and ET patients had secondary myelofibrosis, and 2.5% (38/1537) of patients developed acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Thrombotic events occurred in 43.9% (675/1537) of patients, among which 91.4% (617/675) were arterial thrombosis and 16.6% (112/675) were venous thrombosis. The number of thrombotic events in PV, ET, and PMF patients was 439 (47.2%), 197 (42.1%) and 39 (28.2%), respectively. The multivariate analysis indicated that age ≥60 years old, HCT ≥48%, at least one cardiovascular risk factor, a history of thrombosis, and JAK2V617F allele burden (V617F%) ≥50% are risk factors for thrombosis in JAK2V617F‐mutated MPN. According to the results of the multivariate analysis, a risk model of thrombosis was established and comprised low‐risk (0 points), intermediate‐risk (1 points) and high‐risk (≥2 points) groups, among which the incidence of thrombosis was 9.1%, 33.7% and 72.9%. For elderly patients with JAK2V617F‐mutated MPN and a history of thrombosis, reducing the V617F%, controlling HCT and preventing cardiovascular risk factors are necessary measures to prevent thrombosis.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of isopropyl ester of 2-hydroxy-4-(methylthio)-butyrate acid (HMBi) on ruminal and cecal fermentation, microbial composition, nutrient digestibility, plasma biochemical parameters, and growth performance in finishing beef cattle. The experiment was conducted for 120 days by a complete randomized block design. Sixty 24-month-old Angus steers (723.9 ± 11.6 kg) were randomly assigned to one of the flowing three treatments: basal diet (the concentrate: 7.6 kg/head·d−1, the rice straw: ad libitum) supplemented with 0 g/d MetaSmart® (H0), a basal diet supplemented with 15 g/d of MetaSmart® (H15), and a basal diet supplemented with 30 g/d of MetaSmart® (H30). Results showed that the average daily gain (ADG) increased linearly (P = 0.004) and the feed conversion ratio (FCR) decreased linearly (P < 0.01) with the increasing HMBi supplementation. Blood urea nitrogen (BUN) concentration significantly decreased in the H30 group (P < 0.05) compared with H0 or H15. The ruminal pH value tended to increase linearly (P = 0.086) on day 56 with the increased HMBi supplementation. The concentrations of ammonia–nitrogen (NH3-N), propionate, isobutyrate, butyrate, isovalerate, valerate, and total volatile fatty acid (VFA) were linearly decreased in the cecum (P < 0.05). The results of Phylogenetic Investigation of Communities by Reconstruction of Unobserved States (PICRUSt) showed that the abundance of most pathways with a significant difference was higher in the rumen and lower in the cecum in the H30 group compared to the H0 group, and those pathways were mainly related to the metabolism of amino acids, carbohydrates, and lipids. Correlation analysis showed that ADG was positively associated with the ratio of firmicutes/bacteroidetes both in the rumen and cecum. Additionally, the abundance of Lachnospiraceae, Saccharofermentans, Lachnospiraceae_XPB1014_group, and Ruminococcus_1 was positively correlated with ADG and negatively correlated with FCR and BUN in the rumen. In the cecum, ADG was positively correlated with the abundances of Peptostreptococcaceae, Romboutsia, Ruminococcaceae_UCG-013, and Paeniclostridium, and negatively correlated with the abundances of Bacteroidaceae and Bacteroides. Overall, these results indicated that dietary supplementation of HMBi can improve the growth performance and the feed efficiency of finishing beef cattle by potentially changing bacterial community and fermentation patterns of rumen and cecum.

Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations have been applied to investigate 1, 1-diamino-2, 2-dinitroethene (FOX-7) crystal and FOX-7 (011)-based polymer-bonded explosives (PBXs) with four typical polymers, polyethylene glycol (PEG), fluorine-polymer (F2603), ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) and ester urethane (ESTANE5703) under COMPASS force field. Binding energy (Ebind), cohesive energy density (CED), initiation bond length distribution, RDG analysis and isotropic mechanical properties of FOX-7 and its PBXs at different temperatures were reported for the first time, and the relationship between them and sensitivity. Using quantum chemistry, FOX-7 was optimized with the four polymers at the B3LYP/6-311++G(d,p) level, and the structure and RDG of the optimized composite system were analysed. The results indicated that the binding energy presented irregular changes with the increase in temperature. The order of binding ability of different binders to the FOX-7 (011) crystal surface is PEG > ESTANE5703 > EVA > F2603. When the temperature increases, the maximum bond length (Lmax) of the induced bond increases and the CED decreases. This result is achieved in agreement with the known experimental fact that the sensitivity of explosives increases with temperature, and they can be used as the criterion to predict the sensitivity of explosives. The descending order of Lmax is FOX-7 > F2603 > ESTANE5703≈EVA > PEG. The intermolecular interactions between FOX-7 and the four polymers were mainly weak hydrogen bonding and van der Waals interactions, and these interactions helped to reduce the bond length of C-NO2, leading to a decrease in the sensitivity of FOX-7. The addition of polymers can effectively improve the mechanical properties of explosives. Among the four polymers, EVA has the best effect on improving the mechanical properties of FOX-7 (011). At the same temperature, the modulus can be used to predict the sensitivity of high-energy materials. Cauchy pressure can predict the sensitivity of non-brittle energetic materials. The nature of the interaction between FOX-7 and the four polymers is hydrogen bonding and van der Waals force, of which hydrogen bonding is the main one. These studies are meaningful for the formulation design and sensitivity prediction of FOX-7 and its PBXs.

Steel structures are usually damaged by disasters. According to the influence law of the damage on the elastic modulus of steel obtained by the mechanical test of damaged steel, the average elastic moduli of H-section steel members were analyzed. The equations for calculating the average elastic moduli of damaged H-section steel members at different damage degrees were obtained. By using the analytical cross-sectional method, the cross-sectional M-Φ-P relationships and the dimensionless parameter equations of the H-sections in the full-sectional elastic distribution, single-sided plastic distribution, and double-sided plastic distribution were derived. On the basis of the cross-sectional M-Φ-P relationships and dimensionless parameters of actual steel members, the approximate calculation equations for the damaged cross sections were obtained. The Newmark method was used to analyze the deformation of damaged steel columns. Analytical results show good agreement with the test results. The equations and methods proposed in this study have high computational accuracy, and these can be applied to the cross-sectional M-Φ-P relationships and deformation calculation of damaged steel members.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect and mechanism of chronic intermittent hypoxia (CIH) on cerebral injury using the ischemia-reperfusion rat model. In total, 36 SD rats were divided into three groups: pseudo-surgery group (sham group), ischemia-reperfusion (IR) group (CIR group), and CIH intervention group (CIH group). The IR model was established using the suture-occluded method. CIH intervention was performed starting at 12 weeks prior to the establishment of the IR model for rats in the CIH group. Ultra-microstructure was examined using an electron microscope. Expression of intercellular cell adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in rat brain tissue was evaluated by immunohistochemical methods and western blot assays. The neurological deficit scores of rats in the CIH group were higher than those in the CIR group (p < 0.05). Using electron microscopy, we observed more severe edema around the capillaries of the rat brain that resulted in more pressure on the vascular wall of the capillaries in the CIH group compared to the CIR group. The expression of ICAM-1 and VEGF in rat brain tissue was rare in the sham group, but was significantly elevated in the CIR group (p < 0.05) and even higher in the CIH group, compared to the CIR group. Hence, the brain injury in ischemia-reperfusion rat models following CIH intervention may be related to the increased expression of ICAM-1 and VEGF.

Hybridization in bovines is practiced with the main aim of improving production performance, which may imply the microbial variations in the rumen from the parental breed cross to their progeny. Besides, the interactions of offspring breed with sex in terms of rumen bacteria are not clear. This study aims to evaluate the variations in rumen bacterial communities in different breeds and sexes, and the correlations among fattening performance, serum biochemical parameters, and rumen fermentation. Forty-two 19.2 ± 0.67-month-old beef cattle (390 ± 95 kg of initial body weight) comprising two genetic lines (Yiling and Angus × Yiling) and two sexes (heifers and steers) were raised under the same high-grain diet for 120 d. On the last two days, blood samples were collected from each animal via the jugular vein before morning feeding for analyzing serum biochemical parameters; rumen fluid samples were obtained via esophageal intubation 2 h after morning feeding for analyzing rumen fermentation parameters and bacterial communities. The results show that both breed and sex had a certain impact on fattening performance, serum biochemical parameters, and rumen fermentation. No differences in the diversity and structure of rumen bacterial communities were observed. Significant interactions (p < 0.05) of breed and sex were observed for Succinivibrionaceae UCG-002 and Prevotellaceae UCG-001. The relative abundances of the Rikenellaceae RC9 gut group, Prevotellaceae UCG-003, and Succinivibrio were different (p < 0.05) between breeds. Heifers had a higher (p = 0.008) relative abundance of the Rikenellaceae RC9 gut group than steers. Correlation analysis showed a significant relationship (p < 0.05) of rumen bacteria with serum biochemical parameters, rumen pH, and rumen fermentation patterns. Additionally, only two genera, Prevotellaceae UCG-003 and Prevotellaceae UCG-001, had positive correlations with feed efficiency. In conclusion, serum biochemical parameters, rumen fermentation, and rumen bacterial communities are partly driven by the breed and sex of cattle fed a high-grain diet.

Introduction : Maternal hypoxia induces an adverse uterine environment and may induce long-term effects in offspring. This study investigated whether maternal hypoxia increases hippocampal cell vulnerability and exacerbates neurological impairments in adult rat offspring following ischemia. Material and methods : Pregnant Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned to no maternal hypoxia or maternal hypoxia treatment groups. Adult male rat offspring were subjected to middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). There were four groups: maternal + sham (MH + Sham), sham (Sham), maternal hypoxia + MCAO (MH + MCAO), and MCAO only (MCAO). Neurological deficits were evaluated. Hippocampal cell damage was observed by hematoxylin and eosin (HE) staining. Cell apoptosis in the hippocampus was detected by TdT-mediated dUTP-biotin nick-end labeling (TUNEL) staining. Caspase-3, cytochrome c, Bax, and bcl-2 expression in the hippocampus was detected by Western blot. Results : More severe hippocampal cell damage was found in the MH + MCAO group than in the MCAO group. Additionally, neurological deficits, percentage of TUNEL positive cells, and expression of caspase-3, cytochrome c, and Bax in the hippocampus were significantly higher (p < 0.05), whereas bcl-2 expression was significantly lower (p < 0.05) in the MH + MCAO group compared to the MCAO group. Conclusions : These findings suggest that maternal hypoxia may exacerbate hippocampal cell apoptosis in rat offspring after MCAO via alterations in the expression of cytochrome c, caspase-3, Bax, and bcl-2, which ultimately affects ischemic stroke prognosis. To our knowledge, this is the first study demonstrating that maternal hypoxia increases hippocampal cell susceptibility to ischemia in adult rat offspring.

This study investigates the water supply risk of Panjiakou reservoir in the Luanhe River basin of China during 1956–2016 under environmental change. Since the monthly runoff series during 1956–2016 is a time series with change points, it is necessary to find a new stochastic streamflow series generation approach to preserve the statistical characteristics of the original series and to refine the reliability of water supply risk analysis. This paper improves a known stochastic streamflow simulation method of previous research to better reflect the characteristics of series with change points. And this paper simulates the monthly runoff series with change point of Panjiakou reservoir during 1956–2016 by three different methods, including Thomas–Fiering model, copula function stochastic simulation method, and copula function stochastic simulation method with the mixed distribution model. Among the three methods, the copula function stochastic simulation method with the mixed distribution model which is improved on the basis of copula function stochastic simulation method in this study performs best in simulating the observed monthly runoff series during 1956–2016, and the water supply risk indices including reliability (time-based and volume-based), resilience, vulnerability, drought risk index (DRI), and sustainability index (SUI) are evaluated for Panjiakou reservoir and analyzed by using the stochastic simulation results. By comparing with the previous studies, all indicators are between the corresponding results of 1956–1979 and 1980–2016 with stationary inflows; it can be seen that change point seriously affects the water supply risk of Panjiakou reservoir. These results make it easy to formulate water supply strategies and schemes in changing environment for water resources managers.

Embryonic stem cells (ESCs) enable rapid proliferation that also causes DNA damage. To maintain genomic stabilization during rapid proliferation, ESCs must have an efficient system to repress genotoxic stress. Here, we show that withdrawal of leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF), which maintains the self-renewal capability of mouse ESCs (mESCs), significantly inhibits the cell proliferation and DNA damage of mESCs and upregulates the expression of miR-590. miR-590 promotes single-strand break (SSB) and double-strand break (DSB) damage repair, thus slowing proliferation of mESCs without influencing stemness. miR-590 directly targets Activin receptor type 2a (Acvr2a) to mediate Activin signaling. We identified the homologous recombination-mediated repair (HRR) gene, Rad51b, as a downstream molecule of the miR-590/Acvr2a pathway regulating the SSB and DSB damage repair and cell cycle. Our study shows that a miR-590/Acvr2a/Rad51b signaling axis ensures the stabilization of mESCs by balancing DNA damage repair and rapid proliferation during self-renewal.

Background The gonadotropin-releasing hormone antagonist (GnRH-ant) protocol is associated with few oocytes retrieved, few mature oocytes and poor endometrial receptivity. Omission of GnRH-ants on trigger day seems unlikely to induce preovulation and may improve outcomes in the GnRH-ant protocol. This study aimed to systematically evaluate the effects of GnRH-ant cessation on trigger day on in vitro fertilisation outcomes following the GnRH-ant protocol.Methods We searched PubMed, Ovid/MEDLINE, Wanfang, VIP, CNKI and ClinicalTrials.gov databases. The last search was conducted on 10 December 2023 in English or Chinese, without time limitations on the collection of studies from the databases. The references in these articles were manually searched. Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and cohort studies aimed at assessing the effects of GnRH-ant cessation on trigger day using the GnRH-ant protocol were included. The eligible studies included at least one of the main outcomes: number of oocytes retrieved, proportion of mature oocytes, implantation rate or clinical pregnancy rate.Results Three studies with 1449 cycles were included. Cessation of GnRH-ant on trigger day improved the proportion of mature oocytes (odds ratio [OR] = 1.26, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.09–1.45, I2 = 0%) but did not affect the number of oocytes retrieved (mean difference [MD] = 0.50, 95% CI = −0.07 to 1.07, I2 = 47%), implantation rate (OR = 0.95, 95% CI = 0.69–1.30, I2 = 0%), clinical pregnancy rate (OR = 1.06, 95% CI = 0.71–1.58, I2 = 0%), endometrial thickness (MD = −0.09, 95% CI = −0.27 to 0.10, I2 = 0%) or cycle cancellation rate (OR = 0.64, 95% CI = 0.15–2.74, I2 = 0%).Conclusions Cessation of GnRH-ant on trigger day of the GnRH-ant protocol is suggested because it could improve the proportion of mature oocytes. However, further RCTs are required.

Dynamic PET, in contrast to static PET, can identify temporal variations in the radiotracer concentration. Mathematical modeling of the tissue of interest in dynamic PET can be simplified using compartment models as a linear system where the time activity curve of a specific tissue is the convolution of the tracer concentration in the plasma and the impulse response of the tissue containing kinetic parameters. Since the arterial sampling of blood to acquire the value of tracer concentration is invasive, blind methods to estimate both blood input function and kinetic parameters have recently drawn attention. Several methods have been developed, but the effect of accuracy of the estimated blood function on the estimation of the kinetic parameters is not studied. In this paper, we present a method to compute the error in the kinetic parameter estimates caused by the error in the blood input function. Computer simulations show that analytical expressions we derive are sufficiently close to results obtained from numerical methods. Our findings are important to observe the effect of the blood function on kinetic parameter estimation, but also useful to evaluate various blind methods and observe the dependence of kinetic parameter estimates to certain parts of the blood function.

Background: The Cavernous Angioma in Posterior Sagittal Sinus is exceedingly rare., Methods: We report for the case of a 10-year-old male patient who was diagnosed with Cavernous Angioma in Posterior Sagittal Sinus., Results: Our case is the second reported case of Cavernous Angioma in Posterior Sagittal Sinus in the world., Conclusions: It is very rare for the cavernous hemangioma to occur in the sinus, preoperative conventional MR scan lacks specificity and easily leads to misdiagnosis. Head MR enhancement, MRBTI, and SWI can provide more useful diagnostic information. The final diagnosis depends on the pathology examination.
