Background Whether the characteristics and outcome of secondary acute promyelocytic leukemia (s-APL) are similar to de no APL (dn-APL) remains unknown. Patients and Methods Using the SEER database, we identified 3877 patients with APL diagnosed from 2000 to 2014, including 465 s-APL and 3412 dn-APL. Results Compared with dn-APL, s-APL werecharacterized by older median age, and a higher early mortality rate. Multivariate Cox model showed s-APL, older age, earlier year of diagnosis, and male gender were independently associated with worse survival. Notably, s-APL had a significantly inferior survival regardless of gender, race, marital status, and year of diagnosis. However, the difference between the 2 cohorts was only evident in younger patients (≤ 65 years) but was lost in older patients (> 65 years). Additionally, the majority of index cancer type was breast and prostate in female and male s-APL, respectively. Latency Conclusions Inferior survival of s-APL points to the need for treatment improvement.

An iron-catalyzed intramolecular dehydrogenative coupling for the synthesis of N–H carbazoles and indoles with excellent functional group tolerance using air as the terminal oxidant is reported.

Steroid receptor coactivators (SRCs) significantly increase the transcriptional activity of various steroid hormone receptors, and play an important regulatory role in a variety of physiological functions such as food intake, sleep, stress response and reproduction. Previous studies have found that pregnant mice carrying fetuses with SRC1/2 double-knockout (dKO) manifested delayed labor, partly due to the hypoplasia of fetal lungs and the decreased secretion of pulmonary surfactant protein-A (SP-A) and platelet activating factor (PAF). However, there is still a lack of systematic analysis of the changes in gene expression at the whole transcriptome level in the fetal lungs of SRC1/2 dKO mice. In this study, the SRC1KO, SRC2KO, SRC1/2 dKO and wild-type (WT) mouse fetal lung samples were collected at 18.5 days post coitus. The Illumina platform was employed for transcriptome mRNA sequencing, and then the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were annotated and analyzed by GO and KEGG analysis. The results showed that the proportion of quality score of the sequencing data above Q30 in all samples was more than 92% and passed the quality control. Compared with WT fetal lungs, SRC1KO and SRC2KO fetal lungs had 61 and 32 DEGs, respectively; SRC1/2 dKO fetal lungs had 480, 11 and 901 DEGs compared with WT, SRC1KO and SRC2KO fetal lungs, respectively. Among these genes, Aspg, Crispld2, Eln, Ntsr2, Slc10a6 and Vgll3 were the unique DEGs of SRC1/2 dKO fetal lungs compared with other genotype mice. Real-time PCR and Western blotting verified the reliability of transcriptome sequencing results. The GO analysis of the DEGs between SRC1/2 dKO and WT mouse fetal lungs showed that the DEGs were significantly enriched in the extracellular space, extracellular region, and extracellular matrix in terms of cellular component. In the biological process, they were significantly enriched in the term of development of multiple organs. KEGG pathway analysis showed that the DEGs were mainly enriched in signaling pathways such as the complement system, extracellular matrix-receptor interactions, and protein digestion and absorption. In summary, this study comprehensively revealed the changes of gene expression in the fetal lungs of SRC1/2 dKO mice at the transcriptome level, which provides a new theoretical basis for the study of the developmental regulatory mechanism of the fetal lung during pregnancy, and the fetus-derived signals that affect the initiation of labor.

A highly efficient strategy to synthesize completely unsymmetrical triarylmethanes promoted by iodine under metal-free conditions has been successfully developed. Three different aryl groups were introduced into triarylmethanes in a one-pot reaction from inexpensive and readily available salicylaldehydes, arylboronic acids and arenes via o-QM intermediates generated in situ, delivering a wide range of unsymmetrical triarylmethanes bearing various functional groups in good yields with excellent chemoselectivity.

Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) can develop in patients following exposure to multiple triggers, including blood pressure fluctuations, kidney diseases, immunosuppressive agents, chemotherapy, or autoimmune disorders. However, to the best of our knowledge, the development of PRES secondary to food poisoning has not been previously reported, especially in a pediatric patient. Here, we report a 13-year-old boy who presented with PRES following the consumption of palmatum (a chicken feet dish). The patient presented with headache, vomiting, and altered consciousness. Neuroimaging findings revealed white matter hyperintensities in a bilateral, symmetrical, and parieto-occipital pattern. The patient was diagnosed with PRES and was managed with fluid expansion and a short-term mannitol regimen (1 g/kg every 12 hours for 3 days). Neuroimaging findings returned to normal at 8 days after admission. Food poisoning may therefore be a new possible trigger for PRES. A timely PRES diagnosis is recommended to prevent possible central nervous system complications.

A simple and highly efficient procedure for general synthesis of densely functionalized spiro[4H-pyran-3,3′-oxindole] derivatives from a wide range of carbonyl compounds, active methylenes and various kinds of enols catalyzed by Dabco-base ionic liquids has been successfully developed. All the reactions undergo an tandem Knoevenagel-Michael-cyclization process and afford the desired products in excellent yields within short times. The ionic liquid catalyst is inexpensive and which could be easily recycled and reused five times without significant loss of catalytic activity.

A simple and efficient synthetic protocol for the syntheses of spiro pyrano[2,3-c]pyrazole and spiro 1,4-dihydropyridine derivatives via a one pot four-component reaction catalyzed by Dabco-based ionic liquids has been successfully developed. Under the same reaction conditions, when hydrazines were used as amine components to react with isatins, active methylenes and dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylates, the reactions afforded spiro pyrano[2,3-c]pyrazoles in good to excellent yields (78–96%). While aromatic amines were used as amine components in the same reaction, a completely different product scaffold of spiro 1,4-dihydropyridines was obtained in moderate to good yields (52–93%). This synthetic protocol could be applicable to a wide range of substrates. The desired products are easily separated and purified by simple crystallization. The catalyst could be recycled five times. Plausible reaction mechanisms were proposed according to the experimental results.

A simple and efficient one-pot four-component protocol for the synthesis of pyrano[2,3-c]pyrazole derivatives has been demonstrated using recyclable ionic liquids as green catalysts under mild condition. This is a green and general synthetic protocol which could be applicable to a wide range of carbonyl compounds including aromatic/aliphatic aldehydes, aliphatic ketones, isatins, acenaphthenequinone and ninhydrin. All the reactions are very fast and high-yielding. The desired products are easily separated and purified by simple crystallization. The catalysts can be recycled six times without significant activity loss.

A simple, clean, and efficient approach for the one-pot synthesis of 2-oxindol-3-ylphosphonates has been successfully developed. With 7 mol% loading of the 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane-based ionic liquid catalyst, 2-oxindol-3-ylphosphonates form in good to excellent yields within short times. This tandem reaction involves a phospha-Michael­ addition to the activated alkenes, which form in situ by Knoevenagel­ condensation. The corresponding products are easily separated and purified by simple crystallization. The catalyst can be recycled five times without significant activity loss. This approach is readily amenable to large-scale synthesis.

In the presence of the quaternary ammonium salt catalysts, the β-phosphonomalonates were obtained in excellent yields within short times via tandem Knoevenagel–phospha-Michael reaction. The reaction of aldehydes/ketones, active methylene compounds, and diethyl phosphite performed at room temperature under solvent-free conditions. No column purification is required and the products can be purified by simple crystallization. The catalysts can be easily recovered and reused several times without significant activity loss.

In vitro and in vivo antihypertensive effects of grass carp peptides (GCP) were investigated. The amino acid composition and the angiotensinconverting enzyme inhibitory activity were evaluated using HPLC. GCP was administrated to spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHRs) and Wistar Kyoto rats (WKY) by single and long-term administration before blood pressure measurements. Plasma levels of angiotensin II (Ang II), rennin (RA), nitric oxide (NO), and plasma angiotensin I converting enzyme (ACE) activity were measured. The GCP molecular weight was between 725 and 1,228 Da with high levels of Leu, Asp, Phe, Gly, and Pro. The in vitro IC50 value was 0.23 mg/mL. GCP lowered SHR blood pressure dose and timedependently. Little change occurred in WKY. The plasma level of Ang II and the ACE activity decreased. SHR RA and NO concentrations in plasma increased. The antihypertensive effect of GCP was associated with NO regulation and the rennin-angiotensin system.

Background Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), a key enzyme of the renin–angiotensin system, can modulate dopamine turnover in the midbrain. Previous studies have revealed an association between ACE gene insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism and chronic schizophrenia, yet results are conflicting. Objective The primary objective of this study was to examine whether the ACE gene I/D polymorphism is associated with first-episode patients with schizophrenia (FEP) in a Chinese Han population. Methods The presence of the polymorphism was determined in 220 FEP and 538 healthy controls using a case–control design. We assessed the psychopathology in 212 FEP using the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS). Results The allelic and genotypic frequencies of the ACE gene I/D polymorphism did not significantly differ between FEP and healthy controls (both p > 0.05). This study is designed to evaluate antioxidant and antigenotoxic activities of corn tassel extracts (CTTs). The major bioactive components of CTTs include flavonoid, saponin and polysaccharide. The antioxidant properties of the three bioactive components of CTTs were investigated by Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Property (FRAP) and 1, 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assays. The activities of the extracts were determined by assessing the inhibition of mutagenicity of the direct-acting mutagen fenaminosulf, sodium azide, and indirect-acting mutagen 2-aminofluorene using the Ames test (strains TA98 and TA100). The results showed that the extraction rates of flavonoid, saponin, and polysaccharide from the dried corn tassels were 1.67%, 2.41% and 4.76% respectively. DPPH and FRAP assay strongly demonstrated that CTTs had antioxidant properties. CTTs at doses of 625, 1250 and 2500 μg per plate reduced 2-aminofluorene mutagenicity by 12.52%, 28.76% and 36.49% in Salmonella typhimurium TA98 strain assay respectively and by 10.98%, 25.27% and 37.83%, at the same doses in Salmonella typhimurium TA100 assay system, respectively. 3-[4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl]-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay showed that the different concentrations of CTTs inhibited the proliferation of MGC80-3 cells in a dose-dependent manner (P

Hand, foot, and mouth disease (HFMD) is a public health problem, and there have been increasing numbers of outbreaks in mainland China since 2008. Over 17,000 HFMD cases have been reported in Changchun between 2008 and 2011. This study characterized the temporal and spatial distribution of the disease and identified the risk factors for HFMD. The main findings were as follows: (i) there were significant differences in HFMD incidence among age groups, with 86.8 % of reported cases in children younger than 5 years old, and boys showed a higher incidence than girls (< 6 years); (ii) The disease affected the whole region and spanned a large geographic area, but there was a higher incidence in urban areas (median = 242 per 10,000 persons) and urban-rural border areas (median = 135 per 10,000 persons), compared with rural areas (median = 75 per 10,000 persons); and (iii) the incidence of HFMD in Changchun was significantly associated with the distance to the nearest freeway, GDP per capita, and the type of township.

A simple and efficient method has been developed for highly diastereoselective synthesis of trans-1,1-disubstituted-2,6-diarylcyclohexane-4-ones from dibenzalacetone and malononitril with trans-1,2-diaminocyclohexane as catalyst. The substrate 1,5-diaryl-1,4-pentadien-3-ones and active methylene compounds proceeded to give the products with good to excellent yield within a short time.

A novel and simple approach to the multicomponent one-pot reaction of aldehydes, diethyl phosphite, and azides to form α-aminophosphonates under solvent-free conditions at room temperature has been developed. In the presence of iodine and iron, aryl azides were, for the first time, used as substrates for the synthesis of α-aminophosphonates. The reactions were completed within 5 minutes to 12 hours and afforded the corresponding products in good yields.

Many genes associated with dopamine (DA) and norepinephrine (NE) systems influence cognitive deficits of schizophrenia patients, but one key enzyme is dopamine beta-hydroxylase (DBH), which converts DA to NE and whose activity and levels are under strong genetic control. This study examines the association of the 19 bp insertion/deletion (Ins/Del) polymorphism in the 5' flank of the DBH gene with cognitive deficits in first-episode schizophrenic patients (FEP). We assessed the cognitive function in 195 FEP and 304 healthy controls using the Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status (RBANS). The 19 bp Ins/Del polymorphism of DBH gene was genotyped. Our results showed that the allelic and genotypic frequencies of the 19 bp Ins/Del polymorphism significantly differed between FEP and healthy controls (both p0.05). Cognitive test scores were significantly lower in FEP than healthy controls on all scales (all p0.001) except for the visuospatial/constructional index (p0.05). Immediate memory abilities significantly differed by genotype (p0.05) but not genotype×diagnosis. Immediate memory score was lower in FEP with DBH5'-Del/Del genotype (61.3 ± 17.2) than those with DBH5'-Ins/Ins genotype (68.6 ± 16.2; p0.05). The 19 bp Del allele was associated with poorer immediate memory performance than the Ins allele in FEP (p0.05). However, healthy controls did not show any differences in cognitive function indices between the Ins and Del for either the allele or genotype of the 19 bp Ins/Del polymorphism. Our findings suggest that the DBH5'-Ins/Del polymorphism may play a role in susceptibility to FEP. The DBH5'-Ins/Del polymorphism may also influence immediate memory in FEP. Moreover, FEP had poorer cognitive function than healthy controls in all examined cognitive domains except for the visuospatial/constructional index.

1,4-Diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane was used as an efficient catalyst in the Knoevenagel condensation reaction of various kinds of aromatic/aliphatic/heterocyclic/αβ-unsaturated aldehydes and ketones with active methylene compounds. This is a convenient and rapid method for Knoevenagel condensation, which affords the corresponding substituted electrophilic alkenes in excellent yields. The reaction condition is mild and the method is operationally simple. The products, only E-isomers were detected, did not need to be purified. The use of water as the reaction medium makes the process environmentally benign. The catalysts can be recycled six times without activity loss.

The objective is to explore degradation and removal of nitrogen and phosphorus in each unit of pond when using an artificially enhanced ecological system treats petrochemical wastes. The system consists of anoxic pond, the aerobic pond and aquatic plants pond, aiming to achieve a coordinate treatment effect in the multi-habitat system. The system combines treatment effects including assimilation, decomposition, interception, absorption, adsorption and filtration of microorganisms, aquatic plants and soil in the anaerobic, anoxic and aerobic state. It shows that the system has a good removal effect on COD, NH3-N, TN, and TP, and the removal rate range for each is 26.7% ~ 48.6%, 55.4% ~ 91.3%, 20.4% ~ 43.6% and 25.7% ~ 46.4%, respectively. It is also found that the treatment effects change with seasons, which are the best in summer because of vigorous plant growth and strong microbial activity. In conclusion, the system has a higher efficiency to remove nitrogen and phosphorus than the traditional stabilization pond technology.

Dyslipidemia is a risk factor for cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) in patients with diabetes, and non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (non-HDL-C) is a better predictor of CVDs than low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in patients with diabetes. Therefore, we aimed to investigate the distribution of non-HDL-C and the prevalence of high non-HDL-C level in Chinese patients with diabetes mellitus and identify the associated risk factors. Non-HDL-C concentration positively correlated with total cholesterol, triglycerides, and LDL-C concentrations. Although both non-HDL-C and LDL-C concentration both related positively with TC concentration, the magnitude of correlation was relatively higher for non-HDL-C. The prevalence of high non-HDL-C (⋝4.14 mmol/L) was higher in two age groups (55-64 years: 46.7%; 65-79 years: 47.3%) than other age groups (18-24 years: 4.2%; 25-34 years: 43.6%; 35-44 years: 38.1%; 45-54 years: 41.0%). It was also higher among overweight (45.1%), generally obese (50.9%), or abdominally obese (47.3%) subjects, compared with normal weight subjects (34.5%). The risk of high non-HDL-C increased with advancing age. Both general obesity [odds ratio (OR)=1.488, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.003-2.209] and abdominal obesity (OR=1.561, 95% CI: 1.101-2.214) were significantly associated with high non-HDL-C levels.

Two cobalt coordination polymers [CoII2(ida)2(H2O)2]n (1) and [Na2CoIII2(ida)4(H2O)4]n·2nH2O (2) (H2ida = iminodiacetic acid) have been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Compound 1 exhibits a two-dimensional framework, in which two cobalt atoms exhibit different coordination environments: one is equatorially coordinated by two ida ligands, while another is coordinated by two water molecules and four ida ligands. It is most interesting that, in compound 2, the ida ligands exhibit different coordination modes. The organic coordination anions [CoIII(ida)2]— are linked up by sodium ions to form a two-dimensional layer.

Single crystals of a symmetrically substituted molecule, [Zn(C3N6H6)(H2O)0.5Cl2]⋅ (C3N6H6)(H2O)(1), have been obtained. The crystal structure of 1 shows the existence of novel layered type supramolecular structure constructed by dumbbell-shape coordinated Zn moleculeand one 2,4,6-triamine-s-triazine ligand. Crystallographic data for 1: monoclinic system, space group: C2/c, a = 12.2532(9), b = 13.8606(10), c = 18.3603(13) A, β = 99.7860(10), V = 3072.9(4) A3 and Z = 8, Dc = 1.758 Mg/m3, R1 = 0.0518. The fluorescent property of 1 has also been studied. The luminescent property of 1 attributable to both ligand π → π* transitions and electronic transfer of ZnII→ O transitions.

The polyoxomolybdate (Bu 4 N) 2 [Mo 6 O 19 ] reacts with AgNO 3 in methanol/dimethylformamide solution to give the complex {(Bu 4 N) 2 Ag 2 [Mo 8 O 26 ]} n , which contains infinite chain of [Mo 8 O 26 ] 4− linked up only by a pair of Ag ions and displays attractive interactions between the two Ag I ions.

A new one-dimensional molybdenum oxide compound with manganese-o-phen subunit: [Mn(o-phen)(H2O)MoO4]·H2O (1) (o-phen=o-phenanthroline) was synthesized by thehydrothermal reaction of Na2MoO4·2H2O, MnSO4·H2O, oxalic acid, o-phenanthroline (o-phen) and water. Its structure was determined by elemental analyses, ESR spectrum, TG analysis, IR spectrum and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Compound 1 crystallizes in triclinic system, space group P-1 with a=7.0401(2) A, b=10.4498(2) A, c=10.5720(2) A, α=73.26(7)°, β=83.34(8)°, γ=77.33(9)°, V=725.5089(0) A3, Z=2, and R1=0.0322 for 2337 observed reflections. Compound 1 exhibits one-dimensional chain structure. The chains are linked up via hydrogen bonding to 2D layers, which are further assembled through π–π stacking interactions to a 3D supermolecular structure.

Four heterometal complexes, namely {(NH4)2[(VIVO)2(μ2-O)(nta)2Mn(H2O)4] · 2H2O}n (1), {(NH4)2[(VIVO)2(μ2–O)(nta)2Zn(H2O)4] · 2H2O}n (2), NH4[La(H2O)9][(VIVO)2(μ2–O)(nta)2] (3) and NH4[Nd(H2O)9][(VIVO)2(μ2–O)(nta)2] (4), where nta=nitrilotriacetate, have been prepared and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. Complexes 1 and 2 exhibit heterometallic one-dimensional chain structures formed by polymeric [(VIVO)2(μ2-O)(nta)2M(H2O)4]2− anions (M=Mn, Zn). Moreover, the one-dimensional chains are further linked together through hydrogen bonding into a three-dimensional framework. Compounds 3 and 4 display discrete units, however, these molecules are built up into three-dimensional structures through hydrogen bonding.

Two three-dimensional lanthanum compounds La(OH)SO4 1 and LaO(NO3) 2 have been hydrothermally synthesized and characterized by single-crystal diffraction. Compound 1 represents the first example of hydroxide lanthanide sulfates. Compound 2 is a structural isomer of another previously reported LaONO3, however, its crystal structure is different from that of the compound.

Hydrothermal reactions of NaN3, 1, 10-phenanthroline or 2, 2′-bipyridine and transition metal cations including ZnII or CoII in basified aqueous solutions yielded the three complexes, [Zn2(bipy)2(N3)4]n (1), [Zn(phen)(N3)2]n (2), and [Co(phen)2(N3)2] (3), which were characterized by X-ray crystallography. All three complexes crystallize in the triclinic system, space group P1¯, with a = 6.5506(2), b = 10.8441(6), c = 16.893(2)A, α = 96.333(5), β = 95.361(7), γ = 90.548(6)° for 1; a = 7.0302(10), b = 10.0590(14), c = 10.4550(15)A, α = 109.372(2), β = 103.980(2), γ = 106.137(2)° for 2; and a = 8.1722(2), b = 11.0332(3), c = 12.5066(2)A, α = 82.681(8), β = 82.457(9), γ = 72.991(7)° for 3, respectively. The photoluminescence spectra for compounds 1 and2 have also been studied.

A three-dimensional structure [Na 2 VO(C 3 H 2 O 4 ) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ] n was synthesized from the aqueous solution of V 2 O 5 , malonic acid and HCl. The compound crystallizes in orthorhombic system, space group C222 1 with a =7.2472(9) A, b =15.9465(2) A, c =10.3672(1) A, V =1198.1(3) A 3 , Z =4, and R 1 =0.0242 for 1027 observed reflections. Single crystal X-ray diffraction reveals that the vanadium atom is coordinated by six oxygen atoms in an octahedral geometry. It is more interesting that one sodium ion is coordinated by two μ 3 -OH 2 and six carboxyl oxygen atoms, which exhibits an unusual coordination mode. The malonato-vanadium units are linked up by two sodium ions to an extended network

Two Keggin-type heteropolyanions were synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystal structure and elemental analysis as well as infrared spectroscopy. Both K3[VMo12O40]⋅19H2O (1) and [N i (H2O)6][H3PMoVMoVI 11O40]2⋅30 H2O (2) were prepared in aqueous solution. Compound 1 crystallized in the space group Pm-3m, a=10.6513(1) A, V=1208.4(3) A3, Z=1. Compound 2 crystallized in the space group R-3 with a=b=13.9669(2) A, c=42.0075(5) A, V=7096.71(2) A3, Z=3. The compound 1 contains a {K6VMo12O40} group in which six potassium ions form a regular {K6} octahedron. The heteropolyanion [VMo12O40]3− was capped by six potassium ions and enclosed by {K6} octahedron. A three-dimensional structure was formed by the buildup of {K3[VMo12O40]} n . Compound 2 contains a one-electron reduced heteropolyanion [H3PMoVMoVI 11O40]1−. Ni2+ coordinated by six water molecules as the counter cation balances the negative charge of the molecule.

A new member of giant polyoxomolybdate containing bridging hydroxylamine groups has been unexpectedly obtained during the preparation of the material of {Mo57V6}, (NH4)4Na2[MoVI36O108(NH2OH)2(OH)6(H2O)12]⋅35H2O. The title compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/n, a=16.7886(2), b=18.4309(3), c=24.49950(10) A, β=99.58°, V=7475.18(15) A3, Z=2, and Dcalc=2.817. Each giant cluster anion [MoVI36O108(NH2OH)2(OH)6(H2O)12]6− ({Mo36(NO)2}) consists of two large [MoVI15O50(MoO)4+2(μ-NH2OH)(μ-OH)(t-OH)2(t-OH2)6]5− ({Mo17} units linked together by two {MoO2}2+ centers; these anions {Mo36(NO)2} are further connected via distorted mono-capped pentagonal-pyramidal sodium into a three-dimensional structure with channels that filled with lattic water molecules and NH+4 ions.

The crystal structure of the charge-transfer slat (CpFe+Cp)3[WVWVI 5O19] (CpFeCp=Fe(C5H5)2), synthesized from the reaction of Na2WO4⋅2H2O with ferrocene under acid conditions, has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal is of triclinic space group P(−1) with a=13.0374(3), b=15.0406(3), c=16.8239(1) A, α=91.417(1), β=98.931(1), γ=115.294(1)°, V=2931.20(9) A3, Z=1, M r =5895.57, F(000)=2652, μ=18.735 mm−1, and D c =3.340 g⋅cm−3. The final R factor is 0.0502 for 10173 (R int=0.0563) unique reflections and 770 parameters. The structural analysis reveals that there are two crystallographically distinct [WVWVI 5O19]3− polyoxoanions and six independent ferrocene cations per unit cell. Each polyoxoanion consists of six WO6 octahedra with three types of W–O bond lengths. Interestingly, CpFe+Cp moieties are stacked to form octagonal channels that incorporate the polyanions. The closest Fe⋅⋅⋅Fe distances between the neighboring ferrocenyl cations are more than 6.49 A, therefore, a good magnetic isolation between the iron centers is expected.

A novel and simple approach to the multicomponent one-pot reaction of aldehydes, diethyl phosphite, and azides to form α-aminophosphonates under solvent-free conditions at room temperature has been developed. In the presence of iodine and iron, aryl azides were, for the first time, used as substrates for the synthesis of α-aminophosphonates. The reactions were completed within 5 minutes to 12 hours and afforded the corresponding products in good yields.

Background: Since the end of the 1990s, the incidence of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) has been increasing dramatically in Changchun, northeastern China. However, it is unknown which, and how, underlying risk factors have been involved in the reemergence of the disease. Methods: Data on HFRS cases at the county scale were collected from 1998 to 2012. Data on livestock husbandry including the numbers of large animals (cattle, horses, donkeys and mules), sheep, and deer, and on climatic and land cover variables were also collected. Epidemiological features, including the spatial, temporal and human patterns of disease were characterized. The potential factors related to spatial heterogeneity and temporal trends were analyzed using standard and time-series Poisson regression analysis, respectively. Results: Annual incidence varied among the 10 counties. Shuangyang County in southeastern Changchun had the highest number of cases (1,525 cases; 35.9% of all cases), but its population only accounted for 5.6% of the total population. Based on seasonal pattern in HFRS incidence, two epidemic phases were identified. One was a single epidemic peak at the end of each year from 1988 to 1997 and the other consisted of dual epidemic peaks at both the end and the beginning of each year from 1998 to the end of the study period. HFRS incidence was higher in males compared to females, and most of the HFRS cases occurred in peasant populations. The results of the Poisson regression analysis indicated that the spatial distribution and the increasing incidence of HFRS were significantly associated with livestock husbandry and climate factors, particularly with deer cultivation. Conclusions: Our results indicate that the re-emergence of HFRS in Changchun has been accompanied by changing seasonal patterns over the past 25 years. Integrated measures focusing on areas related to local livestock husbandry could be helpful for the prevention and control of HFRS.

The three-dimensional porous framework compound {(H3O)2[Fe2Mo3O13]}n (1) is constructed by self-aggregation of basic subunits of the 14.738(24) A width one-dimensional belts, which are constructed from self-aggregation of hybrid iron α-molybdena basic units, indicating that a two-dimensional planarity is not an obligatory requirement for achieving the three-dimensional network, as long as the complementary construction mode such as the porous brick-wall mode between the subunits can be achieved.

Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), a key enzyme of the renin-angiotensin system, can modulate dopamine turnover in the midbrain. Previous studies have revealed an association between ACE gene insertion/deletion (I/D) polymorphism and chronic schizophrenia, yet results are conflicting.The primary objective of this study was to examine whether the ACE gene I/D polymorphism is associated with first-episode patients with schizophrenia (FEP) in a Chinese Han population.The presence of the polymorphism was determined in 220 FEP and 538 healthy controls using a case-control design. We assessed the psychopathology in 212 FEP using the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS).The allelic and genotypic frequencies of the ACE gene I/D polymorphism did not significantly differ between FEP and healthy controls (both p0.05). However, the negative PANSS symptom was significantly higher in FEP with the D/D genotype than those with I/D and I/I genotypes (all p0.05) even after Bonferroni corrections (all p0.05). Furthermore, the D allele of the ACE gene was associated with higher negative PANSS symptom score in FEP.Our results indicated that even though the ACE gene I/D polymorphism did not associate with FEP, it may play a role in susceptibility to the negative PANSS symptom of FEP in a Chinese Han population.

A novel chain molybdenum compound, [[Mo2O6(C6H5NO2)].H2O]n, which was synthesized under hydrothermal conditions, consists of an infinite rail-like chain formed by molybdenum oxide units linked by zwitterionic nicotinic acid ligands. Each Mo atom is coordinated octahedrally by six O atoms and the MoO6 octahedra are linked to one another via edge-sharing to produce a zigzag polymeric chain, with nicotinic acid ligands located, alternately, on each side of the rail-like chain plane.

A three-dimensional framework is formed by polymeric aqua (nitrilotriacetato)-lanthanum, [La(C6H6NO6)H2O]n, in which the nitrilotriacetate (NTA) ligand adopts for the first the eight-coordinated mode that has not been previously observed.

In the title complex, [Ni(N3)2(C3H4N2)4], the octahedrally coordinated Ni atom, which is located at an inversion center, is coordinated by four N atoms of imidazole and two N atoms of azide ligands. The mol­ecules are linked into a three-dimensional network through N—H⋯N hydrogen bonds.

The pathogenesis of tardive dyskinesia (TD) may involve neurodegeneration and associated dysfunction of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) for the survival and maintenance of function in neurons. We therefore compared serum BDNF levels in schizophrenic patients with ( n = 129) and without TD ( n = 235), and normal controls ( n = 323). Assessments included the abnormal involuntary movement scale (AIMS) and the positive and negative syndrome scale (PANSS). Our results were that patients with TD had lower serum BDNF levels than those without TD and normals. Lower serum BDNF levels were correlated with greater PANSS negative subscores, but not correlated with the AIMS scores. Serum BDNF levels did not differ between patients on typical and atypical antipsychotics and were not correlated with antipsychotic doses or years of exposure. We concluded that decreased BDNF levels might be associated with TD pathophysiology and more negative symptoms of schizophrenia.
