Abstract

To translate and cross-culturally adapt The Community Integration Measure into Turkish (CIM-T) and to assess its reliability and validity in patients with chronic stroke. Fifty participants completed the CIM-T, Community Integration Questionnaire (CIQ) and the London Handicap Scale (LHS). All participants completed the CIM-T questionnaire twice in 7 days. The internal consistency of the CIM-T was assessed using Cronbach's alpha, while the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) was used to evaluate test-retest reliability. The convergent validity of CIM-T was determined with CIQ and LHS by using Pearson's and Spearman's correlation coefficient analysis. The CIM-T demonstrated high internal consistency (Cronbach's α = 0.955) and test-retest reliability (ICC= 0.992). The CIM-T showed a good correlation with CIQ (R = 0.727, p < 0.001) and LHS (R = 0.694, p < 0.001). The Turkish version of CIM is a valid and reliable instrument for assessing chronic stroke patients. It is a preferable scale for the clinical evaluation of Turkish-speaking patients with chronic stroke. The Community Integration Measure was successfully translated into Turkish and validated in a population with chronic stroke according to established guidelines. The Turkish version of the Community Integration Measure has very good internal consistency and test–retest reliability. Abstract

Importance: A viable occupational therapy program based on joint attention is needed to ensure that children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) lead lives in which they interact socially. Objective: To explore the benefit of a joint attention–based occupational therapy program offered simultaneously with the usual special education program (USEP) compared with USEP alone. Design: Randomized controlled study, including pre-, post-, and follow-up testing. Setting: Special education and rehabilitation center. Participants: Twenty children with ASD in the study group, M = 4.80 yr (SD = 0.78 yr), and the control group, M = 5.10 yr (SD = 0.73 yr), were included. Intervention: All children received USEP (2 sessions/wk for 12 wk). Joint attention–based occupational therapy was applied to the study group in addition to USEP (3 sessions/wk for 12 wk). Outcomes and Measures: The Social Communication Questionnaire (SCQ), Autism Behavior Checklist (ABC), and Motor-Free Visual Perception Test–4 (MVPT–4) were implemented. Results: The study group had a statistically and clinically significant improvement in SCQ, ABC, and MVPT–4 scores after the intervention (p <.001). The control group did not show statistically significant improvement in measurements (p >.05). The mean values of SCQ–Total, ABC–Total, and MVPT–4 variables measured at 3-mo follow-up were significantly different than preintervention (p <.05). Conclusions and Relevance: Joint attention–based intervention, including a child-centered approach, can improve social communication, reduce ASD-related behaviors, and improve visual perception. What This Article Adds: This study emphasizes the importance of occupational therapy with a holistic perspective, based on joint attention, in terms of increasing the effectiveness of special education programs attended by children with ASD and reinforcing visual perception, communication, and positive behaviors in children with ASD. Abstract

Occupational balance is a crucial concept in occupational therapy, accepted as a key component of health and well-being. The Occupational Balance-Questionnaire (OB-Quest) is designed as a standardized instrument to assess occupational balance. This study investigated the validity and reliability of the OB-Quest Turkish, which consisted of translation, cross-cultural adaptation, and analysis psychometric properties phases. The factor structure of the OB-Quest indicated a good model fit. The criterion-related validity showed a positive correlation with Beck Depression Inventory and a negative correlation with the 12-item Short Form Survey. The OB-Quest-Turkish showed questionable internal consistency and an excellent correlation between test-retest. Abstract

Amaç: COVID-19 nedeniyle alınan kısıtlayıcı önlemler yaşam tarzlarında değişikliklere neden oldu. Çalışma, Türkiye'de COVID-19 pandemisi sırasında sosyal izolasyonda olan bireylerin okupasyonel performanslarını ve psikososyal durumlarını araştırmayı amaçladı. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmaya 651 katılımcı dahil edildi. Değerlendirme için sosyodemografik bilgi form, Hastane Anksiyete Depresyon Ölçeği ve Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği kullanıldı. Okupasyonel performans düzeyleri ve memnuniyetleri 10 üzerinden değerlendirildi.Bulgular: Katılımcıların uyku düzenlerinde (%65.1), besin alımında (%96.5), fiziksel aktivitede (%89.7), serbest zaman aktivitelerinde (%92.8) ve üretkenlik aktivitelerinde (%77.3) önemli değişiklikler olduğunu göstermiştir. Hastane Anksiyete Depresyon Ölçeği puanları, okupasyonel performans puanları ve Çok Boyutlu Algılanan Sosyal Destek Ölçeği puanları arasında negatif korelasyon vardı (p, Objectives: Restrictive preventions due to COVID-19 have caused changes in lifestyles. The study aimed to investigate the occupational performances and psychosocial statuses of individuals in social isolation in Turkey during the COVID-19 pandemic. Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study was to adapt the Pain Disability Questionnaire (PDQ) to Turkish language, and analyze its psychometric properties in patients with chronic low back pain (LBQ). Methods. Ninety-one patients with LBP (51 females and 40 males, age=41.71±12.53 years) for at least three months were included in the study. The PDQ was translated into Turkish in the light of international rules. The patients completed the Turkish PDQ and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI), and functional status was evaluated. Test-retest reliability was determined in 31 patients within one-week using intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and Pearson correlation analysis. The relationship between Turkish PDQ and ODI was investigated using Pearson correlation analysis and construct validity. Results. The internal consistency value (Cronbach’s alpha) for Turkish PDQ was a=0.897. The ICC for the test-retest reliability was 0.947. The correlation coefficient for the functional status component of Turkish PDQ and ODI was r=0.583 (p, Amaç: Bu çalışmada, kronik bel ağrılı hastalarda Ağrı Özürlülük Anketi’nin (ADA) Türkçe’ye adaptasyonunun ve psikometrik özelliklerinin analizinin yapılması amaçlandı. 18. The effectiveness of client-centered occupational therapy intervention on occupational participation and quality of life in offenders benefitting probation service

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı denetimli serbestlikten yararlanan hükümlülerde kişi merkezli ergoterapi müdahalelerinin aktivite katılımı ve yaşam kalitesi üzerine etkilerinin incelenmesidir. Çalışmaya Samsun Denetimli Serbestlik Müdürlüğü tarafından denetimli serbestlik uygulanan, daha önce en az 6 ay süreyle cezaevinde kalmış, Kanada Aktivite Performans Ölçümü (KAPÖ)'ne göre aktivite katılım sıkıntısı çeken, 18-65 yaş arası, 15 gönüllü birey dahil edildi. Bireylere Sosyo-Demografik Bilgi Formu, Yarı-Yapılandırılmış Çevre Değerlendirme Formu, aktivite katılımına yönelik KAPÖ ve yaşam kalitesi için Notthingham Sağlık Profili (NSP) uygulandı. Kişi merkezli ergoterapi müdahalesi bireylerin katılımda problem yaşadıklarını belirttikleri sorunlu alanlar ve aktiviteler temel alınarak Kişi-Çevre-Aktivite modeline göre planlandı. 12 hafta süreyle haftada 1 defa ortalama 1 saat süren müdahale programı uygulandı. Müdahale sonrası değerlendirmeler tekrarlandı ve sonuçlar karşılaştırıldı. Çalışmanın sonucunda KAPÖ performans (p=0,001) ve memnuniyet (p=0,001) puanlarında müdahale öncesi ve sonrası ölçümleri arasında ve yaşam kalitesi toplam puanları arasında (p=0,003) istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulunmuştur. Kişisel davranış, kurumsal çevre ve aktivite değişimi içeren kişi merkezli ergoterapi müdahalesi ile kişilerin aktivite performanslarında, performansları ile ilişkili memnuniyetlerinde ve yaşam kalitesinde artış sağlanmıştır. Bu sonuçların elde edilmesinde, kişilerin aktivite tercihlerinin göz önünde bulundurularak, bu aktivitelerdeki performanslarını ve memnuniyetlerini artırmaya yönelik kuvvetli olan ve güçlendirilmesi gereken yanların bir arada ele alınmasının önemli katkılar sağladığı düşünülmektedir. The aim of this study was to examine the effect of occupation-based occupational therapy interventions on occupational participation and quality of life in offenders that benefit from probation service. 15 voluntary individuals were enrolled in the study between the ages of 18-65, who had been supervised by Samsun Probation Directorate, who had been in prison for at least 6 months and who had occupational participation problems according to the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM). Individuals were administered the Socio-Demographic Information Form, the Semi-structured Environment Assessment Form, COPM for occupational participation, and the Notthingham Health Profile (NHP) for quality of life. Occupation-based occupational therapy interventions were planned according to the Person-Environment-Occupation model based on problematic areas and activities that individuals identified as having difficulty with participation. An intervention program lasting for an average of 1 hour, once a week and for 12 weeks was applied. Post-intervention evaluations were repeated and the results were compared. As a result of the study, statistically significant difference was found between the pre- and post-intervention measures of the total quality of life scores (p = 0.003) in the scores of COPM performance (p = 0.001) and satisfaction (p = 0.001). Client-centered occupational therapy intervention, involving personal behavior, organizational environment and activity change, has resulted in an increase in clients' activity performance, satisfaction with their performance and quality of life. Taking these activities into consideration, it is believed that the achievement of these results is a significant contribution to the strengthening and strengthening of the strengths and the strengths of the clients in order to increase their performance and satisfaction in these activities. 100

Abstract

It is necessary for a person to comply with the expectations of society and the rules of law to which these expectations are secured. Offenders turn back to the community after the penalty was executed by isolating from society and some occupations. An occupational imbalance is seen in the individuals, during this penalty period and afterward, because of limited occupational participation. As an occupational being, this affects their physical, mental and psychological well-being. Imprisonment is an important practice in criminal law to punish criminals. This may be necessary for the protection of society from criminals, but successful integration into a community after exiting the prison is the most important factor in preventing recidivism. Occupational therapy focuses on health and well-being by using meaningful and purposeful occupations. Occupation involves any activity that people perform or participate in, such as giving care to themselves or others, working, learning, playing games, and interacting with others. From this perspective, the role of occupational therapists in forensic settings is to determine the abilities of these individuals to congregate their deprived freedoms and use them to train them for an independent and autonomous life; to provide a professional orientation, career counseling, and self-esteem; to gain some habits for physical, spiritual and moral life and to reinforce.

Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı, spor yapan ve yapmayan üniversite öğrencilerinin uyku ve yaşam kalitesi düzeylerinin incelenmesidir.Materyal ve Metod: Ondokuz Mayıs Üniversitesi'nde farklı fakülte ve yüksekokullarda okuyan 378 öğrenciye yüz yüze görüşme tekniği ile anket uygulanmıştır. Veriler IBM SPSS Statistics 20 programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Öğrencilerin fiziksel ve sosyolojik özelliklerine ilişkin bilgilerini sorgulayan araştırmacı tarafından geliştirmiş kişisel bilgi formu, uyku kalitesini değerlendirmek için Pittsburgh Uyku Kalitesi İndeksi (PUKİ), yaşam kalitesinin değerlendirilmesinde ise Nottingham Sağlık Profili (NSP) kullanılmıştır. Bulgular: Spor yapanlar ile spor yapmayanlar arasında PUKİ değerine göre anlamlı bir farklılık bulunmamaktadır. Spor yapanların NSP toplam değerleri ile NSP alt parametrelerinden enerji seviyesi, emosyonel reaksiyon ve fiziksel aktivite değerleri spor yapmayanlara göre anlamlı derecede düşüktür. Sonuç: Spor yapan üniversite öğrencilerinin spor yapmayanlara göre uyku kaliteleri arasında bir fark olmadığı ancak yaşam kalitelerinin daha yüksek olduğu bulunmuştur. Üniversiteye başlayan genç yetişkinler için üniversite deneyimleri, yaptıkları seçimlere bağlı olarak, gelecekleri ile ilgili sağlıkla (veya hastalıkla) ilişkili bir yaşam tarzı oluşmasına katkıda bulunur. Data were analyzed using the IBM SPSS Statistics 20. Personel information form devoloped by researchers is used to have information on physical and sociological characteristics of the students, Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) is used for investigating sleep quality and Nottingham Health Profile (NHP) is used for investigating quality of life.Results: There is no significent difference on PSQI scores between sports and non-sports students. Total NHP scores and scores of subparameters of NHP; energy level, emotional reactions and physical mobility was significently low in students who makes sports.Conclusion: There was not any difference on sleep quality but quality of life is good on students who make sports. Young adults beginning college are entering a world of new experiences and choices. Based on the choices they make, their college experience can contribute to a health- or disease- promoting lifestyle and ultimately relate to their quality of life. Abstract

Purpose: Patient-orientated questionnaires such as Örebro Musculoskeletal Pain Screening Questionnaire (ÖMPSQ) are essential for assisting the early identification of symptoms and patients risking the development of work disability due to pain. No previous studies exist about translating and testing the psychometric properties of Turkish version of ÖMPSQ. This study was performed to culturally adapt, validate and investigate Turkish version of the questionnaire for low back pain patients in terms of psychometric properties Material and methods: A Turkish version of ÖMPSQ was created, following a forward-backward translation procedure. The study included 133 patients with low back pain. Participants completed both ÖMPSQ and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI). Reproducibility was assessed using the interclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and confidence interval for ICC %94-96. Construct validity was evaluated with Pearson’s Rho. Results: One hundred and thirty three low back pain patients, whose average age was 41.71± 12.53 years, included. 78 (58.6%) of them were female 55 (41.4%) of them were male. The internal consistency value (cronbach alpha) for ÖMPSQ was 0.617. Thirty two of the patients were retested twice with one week interval to assess test-retest reliability. The interclass correlation coefficient (ICC) for test-retest reliability of the questionnaire was 0.95. Gereç ve yöntem: Örebro kasiskelet ağrısı tarama anketi’nin Türkçe versiyonu çift yönlü çeviri prosedürü izlenerek oluşturuldu. Olguların sosyodemografik bilgileri kaydedildi. Katılımcılar ÖKATA ve Oswestry Disabilite İndeksini (ODİ) doldurdu. Tekrarlanabilirlik, sınıf içi korelasyon katsayısı (ICC) ile incelendi. ICC için güven aralığı % 94-96 arasındaydı. Yapı geçerliliği Pearson Rho ile değerlendirildi. Sonuçlar: Çalışmaya yaş ortalaması 41.71± 12.53 yıl olan, aynı zamanda çalışan 133 bel ağrılı hasta katıldı. Bunlardan 78’i (% 58.6) kadın, 55’i (% 41.4) erkekti. ÖKATA için iç tutarlılık değeri (cronbach alfa) 0,617 olarak belirlendi.
