1. Effect of modified method based on recoil motion on interior ballistic performance of ultralight high-low pressure artillery

Abstract: Light gun is of unique application prospect for its low body mass and projectile initial velocity. In order to solve the problem of calculation error caused by the large free recoil velocity of light artillery in traditional interior ballistic model, a more suitable internal ballistic model for ultralight artillery was proposed through the design and test of a light gun, the accuracy of the algorithm was verified. The model described the effect of the recoil motion of the gun on chamber pressure and projectile acceleration travel, which made the calculation result more accurate when the gun mass was lighter. Compared with the experimental data, the errors of the calculation results using the improved algorithm were 2.90 % and 0.33 % respectively, while that using the traditional algorithm were 20.38 % and 10.02 % respectively. At the same time, the extended calculation was carried out to analyze the impact of the buffer device on the interior ballistic performance. The result showed that the lighter the gun, the greater the improvement brought by the buffer device under the same mass and recoil resistance. When the mass of the projectile and the gun was both 3 kg, the resistance of 70 kN could increase the velocity of projectile by 16.2 %. Furthermore, the internal ballistic elements of the traditional algorithm and the improved algorithm were calculated respectively under the same working conditions. It was found that when the mass of the gun is 8.567 times the mass of the bullet, the error of the two algorithms was less than 1 %, and the error increased gradually with the mass ratio of gun and projectile decreasing.

2. Comparison of the effects of vitrification and slow freezing on the growth and development of offspring using a mouse model

Abstract: In this study, mouse embryos were used to compare the effects of vitrification and slow freezing on the physiology, normal spatial learning, cerebral development, and gene expression of offspring. 583 8-cell stage embryos were obtained from 60 female mice and randomly divided randomly into three groups: vitrified, slow frozen, and control groups. In the vitrified group, embryos were cryopreserved by using the vitrification technique. In the slow frozen group, embryos were frozen using the slow freezing technique. In the control group, the embryos were not frozen and were transferred. After thawing, birth rates, physiology, normal spatial learning, and cerebral development of offspring were compared among the three groups. The expression of fat and brain-associated genes were measured by RT-PCR (real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction), Western blot, immunofluorescence staining, and immunohistochemistry. The weight of the offspring in the vitrified and slow frozen groups was higher (p < 0.05) than in the control group at 8 weeks. There were no differences in the other postnatal physiology and development parameters in the offspring from the three groups. There were no difference in the expression and distribution of two brain development-related proteins, glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) and myelin basic protein (MBP) in the offspring. The expression of two fat-associated genes, Fat mass and obesity-associated (FTO) and PPARγ co-activator-1 (PGC-1α), were higher in offspring from the frozen-thawed (slow frozen and vitrified) group than the control group. Slow freezing and vitrification embryo transfer techniques had no significant differences in postnatal physiology and development.

Abstract: Using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at six center-of-mass energies between 4.008 and 4.600 GeV, we observe the processes e+e−→ϕϕω and e+e−→ϕϕϕ. The Born cross sections are measured and the ratio of the cross sections σ(e+e−→ϕϕω)/σ(e+e−→ϕϕϕ) is estimated to be 1.75±0.22±0.19 averaged over six energy points, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The results represent first measurements of these interactions.

Abstract: Based on e+e− annihilation data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at 13 center-of-mass energies from 4.008 to 4.600 GeV, measurements of the Born cross section of e+e−→pp¯π0 are performed. No significant resonant structure is observed in the measured energy dependence of the cross section. The upper limit on the Born cross section of e+e−→Y(4260)→pp¯π0 at the 90% C.L. is determined to be 0.01 pb. The upper limit on the ratio of the branching fractions B(Y(4260)→pp¯π0)B(Y(4260)→π+π−J/ψ) at the 90% C.L. is determined to be 0.02%. Keywords: Hadrons, Cross section measurements, Y(4260)

Abstract: We study the decays of J/ψ and ψ(3686) to the final states Σ(1385)0Σ¯(1385)0 and Ξ0Ξ¯0 based on a single baryon tag method using data samples of (1310.6±7.0)×106 J/ψ and (447.9±2.9)×106 ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The decays to Σ(1385)0Σ¯(1385)0 are observed for the first time. The measured branching fractions of J/ψ and ψ(3686) to Ξ0Ξ¯0 are in good agreement with, and much more precise than, the previously published results. The angular parameters for these decays are also measured for the first time. The measured angular decay parameter for J/ψ→Σ(1385)0Σ¯(1385)0, α=−0.64±0.03±0.10, is found to be negative, different to the other decay processes in this measurement. In addition, the “12% rule” and isospin symmetry in the decays of J/ψ and ψ(3686) to ΞΞ¯ and Σ(1385)Σ¯(1385) are tested.

Abstract: We report the first measurement of the absolute branching fraction for Λc+→Λμ+νμ. This measurement is based on a sample of e+e− annihilation data produced at a center-of-mass energy s=4.6 GeV, collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage rings. The sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 567 pb−1. The branching fraction is determined to be B(Λc+→Λμ+νμ)=(3.49±0.46(stat)±0.27(syst))%. In addition, we calculate the ratio B(Λc+→Λμ+νμ)/B(Λc+→Λe+νe) to be 0.96±0.16(stat)±0.04(syst).

Abstract: By analyzing 2.93fb−1 of data taken at the ψ(3770) resonance peak with the BESIII detector, we measure the branching fractions for the hadronic decays D+→KS0KS0K+, D+→KS0KS0π+, D0→KS0KS0 and D0→KS0KS0KS0. Abstract: Two utility based dynamic subcarrier allocation (DSA) algorithms: the max exponential utility (MEU) algorithm and the max weighted exponential utility (MWEU) algorithm are proposed for quality of service (QoS) guarantees in single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) system. With the objective of maximizing the system total utility, the two proposed DSA algorithms are designed based on a cross-layer manner so as to guarantee the diverse QoS requirements of real-time traffic. The proposed MEU algorithm exploits the property of the exponential utility function to provide higher allocation priority for the user in heavy traffic load. Furthermore, the MWEU algorithm is proposed as a kind of priority adjustable DSA scheduling by introducing the grading theory and the weight factor into the utility function. Simulation results indicate that the MEU algorithm is able to achieve outstanding average delay and system rate-sum capacity performance. And the MWEU algorithm can further improve the delay variance and delay violation probability performance by setting appropriate allocation weights. It is also concluded that the adaptive weight factor value of the MWEU algorithm can be derived according to the practical QoS requirements and average packets arrival rate.

9. Differentiating origins of outflow tract ventricular arrhythmias: a comparison of three different electrocardiographic algorithms

Abstract: Our objective is to evaluate the accuracy of three algorithms in differentiating the origins of outflow tract ventricular arrhythmias (OTVAs). This study involved 110 consecutive patients with OTVAs for whom a standard 12-lead surface electrocardiogram (ECG) showed typical left bundle branch block morphology with an inferior axis. All the ECG tracings were retrospectively analyzed using the following three recently published ECG algorithms: 1) the transitional zone (TZ) index, 2) the V2 transition ratio, and 3) V2 R wave duration and R/S wave amplitude indices. Considering all patients, the V2 transition ratio had the highest sensitivity (92.3%), while the R wave duration and R/S wave amplitude indices in V2 had the highest specificity (93.9%). The latter finding had a maximal area under the ROC curve of 0.925. In patients with left ventricular (LV) rotation, the V2 transition ratio had the highest sensitivity (94.1%), while the R wave duration and R/S wave amplitude indices in V2 had the highest specificity (87.5%). The former finding had a maximal area under the ROC curve of 0.892. All three published ECG algorithms are effective in differentiating the origin of OTVAs, while the V2 transition ratio, and the V2 R wave duration and R/S wave amplitude indices are the most sensitive and specific algorithms, respectively. Amongst all of the patients, the V2 R wave duration and R/S wave amplitude algorithm had the maximal area under the ROC curve, but in patients with LV rotation the V2 transition ratio algorithm had the maximum area under the ROC curve.

Abstract: A new type of technology of foamed gel with fly ash is developed to prevent and extinguish fire so as to overcome the existing shortages of fire prevention technologies. As a complex multi-component foam system, the foamed gel with fly ash is mainly formed by putting foaming agent, thickener and crosslinker into fly ash slurry, introducing nitrogen and stirring physically and mechanically. The experiments were done to investigate the microstructures of foamed gel with fly ash and theoretically analyze its gelation process and mechanism. The results show that the foaming agent is one of the key factors of forming foamed gel. And when the thickener dissolved in water, the helical mesh polymer or double helix cluster are formed by molecular chains, besides, active group in polymer or cluster fully collide with that in the main chain structures of crosslinker, thereby the three-dimensional network structures are formed, making the scattered polymer and cluster form a uniform continuous phase.

Abstract: The split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) apparatus is frequently used to investigate the dynamic compression properties of various materials at strain rates from 102 to 104 s−1. Keeping the strain rate constant during loading is an important condition for obtaining accurate experimental results. However, we do not always need to take additional measures to control the constant strain rate loading conditions for materials with different dynamic response behaviors. To investigate the necessity of a constant strain rate condition in the SHPB test according to the different dynamic mechanical response behaviors of materials, a comprehensive numerical analysis scheme combined with the Cowper-Symonds plastic kinematic model was designed to perform the simulation tests. There are two factors primarily resulting in the errors in the calculated stress-strain response for the representative material model. One of them is the dynamic scale factor, which represents the strain rate sensitivity and controls the variation amplitude of flow stress with the change in strain rate. The other factor is the work-hardening rate, which affects the results by expanding the decrease in strain rate. This paper quantitatively describes the effects of strain rate sensitivity and the strain-hardening modulus on the accuracy of the reconstructed stress-strain behavior of a sample under a constant incident pulse. The conclusion presents several reference guides for the necessity of a constant strain rate condition for different dynamic response behaviors of materials based on the representative constitutive model.

Abstract: This article reported an efficient hybrid phase change material (PCM) for passive thermal management that integrated micro-encapsulated phase change material (MEPCM) and metal foam. This PCM composite was aimed to enhance the heat transfer of MEPCM, while avoid the leakage of molten phase change material (PCM). We proposed a two-energy equation model and experiment demonstration to investigate phase change heat transfer inside MEPCM/foam composite. The surface/internal temperatures, interface evolution and non-equilibrium heat transfer in the composite were discussed. Results showed that the pure MEPCM was not suitable for thermal management due to the low thermal conductivity. The wall temperature of the MEPCM/foam composite was only half of the pure MEPCM attributed to the latent heat absorption of MEPCM and thermal enhancement of metal foam. The higher porosity composite obtained higher surface temperature, and also consumed less time to start phase change due to the lower effective thermal conductivity. Besides, better thermal control was achieved by the MEPCM/foam composite with higher pore density attributed to its larger volumetric area. The employment of metal matrix made the internal temperature distribution more homogeneous and reduced the inside temperature gradient.

Abstract: Improper use of nicosulfuron (NSF) may induce harmful effects on plants during weed control. Melatonin (MT) regulates photosynthetic and physiological processes in plants. This study aimed to explore the effects of MT on alleviating NSF toxicity by measuring the growth parameters, photosynthetic capacity, and antioxidative responses in sweet corn seedlings. Compared to NSF alone, exogenous MT increased chlorophyll content, transpiration rate, net photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance, and maximum efficiency of PSⅡ photochemistry, while reduced malondialdehyde, hydrogen peroxide, superoxide anion radical, and proline contents. Moreover, MT also increased the activity of ascorbate peroxidase and the expression levels of ZmAPX1, ZmAPX2, ZmALS1, and ZmCYP81A9. The inhibition of p-chlorophenylalanine inhibited the positive effects of MT on photosynthetic and physiological indexes. The results indicated that pretreatment with MT might effectively mitigate NSF toxicity in sweet corn seedlings.

Abstract: A massless particle beyond the Standard Model is searched for in the two-body decay Σ+→p+invisible using (1.0087±0.0044)×1010 J/ψ events collected at a center-of-mass energy of s=3.097GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. No significant signal is observed, and the upper limit on the branching fraction B(Σ+→p+invisible) is determined to be 3.2×10−5 at the 90% confidence level. This is the first search for a flavor-changing neutral current process with missing energy in hyperon decays which plays an important role in constraining new physics models.

Abstract: Superconductors with topological surface or edge states have been intensively explored for the prospect of realizing Majorana bound states, which obey non-Abelian statistics and are crucial for topological quantum computation. The traditional routes for making topological insulator/superconductor and semiconductor/superconductor heterostructures suffer fabrication difficulties and can only work at low temperature. Here, we use angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy to directly observe the evolution of a topological transition of band structure nearby the Fermi level in two-dimensional high-${T}_{c}$ superconductor $\mathrm{FeT}{\mathrm{e}}_{1\ensuremath{-}x}\mathrm{S}{\mathrm{e}}_{x}/\mathrm{SrTi}{\mathrm{O}}_{3}(001)$ monolayers, fully consistent with our theoretical calculations. Furthermore, evidence of edge states is revealed by scanning tunneling spectroscopy with assistance of theoretical calculations. Our study provides a simple and tunable platform for realizing and manipulating Majorana states at high temperature.

Abstract: The fire spray system (FSS) of the Advanced Passive PWR, as a part of the fire protection system, can provide a non-safety related containment spraying function for severe accident mitigation which is included in the Severe Accident Management Guidelines (SAMG) of the Advanced Passive PWR when dealing with severe accidents. The effectiveness of the FSS is investigated on three effects for severe accident mitigation which are controlling the containment condition, washing out fission product and injecting into the containment through three representative severe accident scenarios analysis with integral accident analysis code since there is no sufficient data support, besides the negative impact is also discussed. Results show that the FSS can be effective for controlling the containment condition, washing out fission product and injecting into the containment, however the effect is limited due to system limitation: the FSS can only cool the containment atmosphere for a short term; the flow rate of FSS cannot fulfill the success criteria given in the PRA report of the Advanced Passive PWR. Meanwhile, the hydrogen concentration and the containment water level should be the long-term monitored because actuating the FSS may cause hydrogen risk in the containment and containment flooding. Despite its limitation and negative impact, the FSS can be effective as an alternative severe accident mitigation measurement for postponing the process of accidents for safety system recovery.

Abstract: The spin and parity of the charmed mesons Ds⁎+, D⁎0 and D⁎+ are determined for the first time to be JP=1− with significances greater than 10σ over other hypotheses of 2+ and 3−, using an e+e− collision data sample with an integrated luminosity of 3.19 fb−1 collected by the BESIII detector at a center-of-mass energy of 4.178 GeV. Different spin-parity hypotheses are tested via a helicity amplitude analysis of the processes e+e−→Ds⁎+Ds−, D⁎0D0 and D⁎+D−, with Ds⁎+→Ds+γ, D⁎0→D0π0, and D⁎+→D+π0. The results confirm the quark model predictions.

Abstract: Using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at six center-of-mass energies between 4.008 and 4.600 GeV, we observe the processes e + e − → ϕ ϕ ω and e + e − → ϕ ϕ ϕ . The Born cross sections are measured and the ratio of the cross sections σ ( e + e − → ϕ ϕ ω ) / σ ( e + e − → ϕ ϕ ϕ ) is estimated to be 1.75 ± 0.22 ± 0.19 averaged over six energy points, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The results represent first measurements of these interactions.

Abstract: The epitaxial Mn0.98Cr0.02Te films on single crystal Al2O3 (0001) substrates were prepared by pulsed laser deposition. The X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy results showed that the good continuous epitaxial film was obtained with substrate temperature of 500 degrees C. When the substrate temperature reached 700 degrees C, the film was island growth and the manganese oxides phase appeared. The temperature dependence of both the magnetization and electrical resistance showed a sharp rise at around 60 K due to the magnetoelastic coupling. The temperature dependence of the electrical resistance of Mn0.98Cr0.02Te provided evidence for a transition from the metallic to semiconducting state at 305 K due to the spin disorder scattering with a large contribution from the influence of magnon drag.

32. Mitigative effect of 6-benzyladenine on photosynthetic capacity and leaf ultrastructure of maize seedlings under waterlogging stress

Abstract: 6-Benzyladenine (6-BA) is an artificial synthetic cytokinin, which plays an important role in regulating plant responses to abiotic stress. This study aimed to investigate the mitigative effect of exogenous 6-BA on photosynthetic capacities and leaf ultrastructure under waterlogging stress using two waxy corn inbred lines. The results showed that waterlogging stress disrupted the photosynthesis of waxy corn seedlings. However, exogenous 6-BA alleviated the inhibition caused by waterlogging stress. Under the waterlogging conditions, 6-BA treatment of plants helped preserve the structural integrity of the chloroplasts and retain higher contents of photosynthetic pigments. It also increased the photosynthetic capacity and promoted the openness of stomatal pores. Moreover, exogenous 6-BA promoted photosynthetic activities and the accumulation of carbohydrates. The results revealed that the detrimental effects of waterlogging stress on maize seedlings can be alleviated by 6-BA via modulating photosynthetic activities.

33. Effect of Austempering Temperature on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of M50 Bearing Steel

Abstract: By means of microstructure observation and mechanical property tests, the effect of austempering temperature on the bainite transformation, carbide precipitation, and the hardness, impact toughness of M50 bearing steel were studied. Results show that when the austempering temperature increases from 180 °C, 200 °C, 220 °C, 240 °C to 260 °C, the bainite content in the microstructure of the steel is 3.5%, 11.9%, 15.4%, 22.1% and 36.1% respectively. The effect of austempering temperature on bainite content is mainly related to the incubation period of bainite transformation, the driving force of bainitic ferrite nucleation and the stability of supercooled austenite. With the increase of austempering temperature, the carbide content decreases but the average carbide size generally increases in the austempered and tempered steel. When the austempering temperature increases from 180 °C to 200 °C, the hardness of the sample decreases from 62.45 HRC to 62.04 HRC, and the impact toughness of the sample increases from 144.75 kJ/m2 to the maximum value of 171.50 kJ/m2 at 200 °C. When the austempering temperature increases from 200 °C to 260 °C, the hardness and impact toughness of the steel both decrease, which is related to the weakening of the dispersion strengthening caused by the increase of carbide size, and to the increase of bainite content, the increase of bainite size, and the self-inhibited behavior of bainite transformation.

34. A technique to improve the accuracy of Earth orientation prediction algorithms based on least squares extrapolation

Abstract: We present a technique to improve the least squares (LS) extrapolation of Earth orientation parameters (EOPs), consisting of fixing the last observed data point on the LS extrapolation curve, which customarily includes a polynomial and a few sinusoids. For the polar motion (PM), a more sophisticated two steps approach has been developed, which consists of estimating the amplitude of the more stable one of the annual (AW) and Chandler (CW) wobbles using data of longer time span, and then estimating the other parameters using a shorter time span. The technique is studied using hindcast experiments, and justified using year-by-year statistics of 8 years. In order to compare with the official predictions of the International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS) performed at the U.S. Navy Observatory (USNO), we have enforced short-term predictions by applying the ARIMA method to the residuals computed by subtracting the LS extrapolation curve from the observation data. The same as at USNO, we have also used atmospheric excitation function (AEF) to further improve predictions of UT1-UTC. As results, our short-term predictions are comparable to the USNO predictions, and our long-term predictions are marginally better, although not for every year. In addition, we have tested the use of AEF and oceanic excitation function (OEF) in PM prediction. We find that use of forecasts of AEF alone does not lead to any apparent improvement or worsening, while use of forecasts of AEF + OEF does lead to apparent improvement.

Abstract: We search for the semi-leptonic decays Λc+→Λπ+π−e+νe and Λc+→pKS0π−e+νe in a sample of 4.5fb−1 of e+e− annihilation data collected in the center-of-mass energy region between 4.600GeV and 4.699GeV by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII. No significant signals are observed, and the upper limits on the decay branching fractions are set to be B(Λc+→Λπ+π−e+νe)

Abstract: A protective capping procedure has been used to prepare surfaces of MBE-grown InAs(001) for HREELS and photoemission studies. The comparison between photoemission and infrared transmission spectra demonstrates that at a bulk doping level of 8 × 10 18 cm 3 , the Fermi level at the surface coincides with that in the bulk. This allows observation of the effects of spatial dispersion in the surface plasmon mode in HREEL spectra.

Abstract: The magnetocaloric effect and refrigeration capacity (RC) of [Gd.sub.55][Co.sub.20][Al.sub.25] and [Gd.sub.55][Ni.sub.25][Al.sub.20] bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) are examined. The large RC value is attributed to the broad magnetic entropy change peak, which is caused by the disordered structure of an amorphous material.

Abstract: First-principles calculations have been performed to investigate the doping behaviors of Al and N dopant impurities in ZnO. According to the results, in the Al mono-doping case, the impurity states are quite delocalized, the corresponding effective masses are small, and the formation energy is as low as −9.71 eV. In the N mono-doping case, the impurity states are localized, the effective masses are large, and the formation energy is high (4.55 eV in the most favorable extreme O-rich conditions). In the Al–N codoping case, the corresponding effective masses are marked decreased compared to the N mono-doping situations, and the formation energy of the N–Al–N system is as low as −2.54 eV in the O-rich condition. The above results can explain the electrical behaviors of the doped or codoped ZnO systems observed in experiments.

Abstract: The magnetic and magnetocaloric effects of [([Mn.sub.1-x][Fe.sub.x]).sub.5][Ge.sub.3] compounds are analyzed. The Fe-containing [([Mn.sub.1-x][Fe.sub.x]).sub.5][Ge.sub.3] compounds are found to be very good magnetic refrigerants for the application of room-temperature magnetic refrigeration.

Abstract: We have performed first-principle calculations on the conductive behaviors of Ga, N single-doped and Ga–N codoped ZnO. According to the results, in the Ga single-doped case, with the comparatively smaller effective masses of electrons and the positive impurity formation energy, the fermi-level shifts upward into the conduction band, thus the n-type ZnO with good conductivity can be obtained. In both the N single-doped and Ga–N codoped cases, the fermi-levels shift downward into the valence band, indicating that p-type ZnO can be obtained by both of the methods. However, the holes’ effective masses in the codoping case are much smaller than those in the N single-doped case, and the formation energy in the codoping case is much larger than that in the N single-doped case, thus the p-type conductivity in the codoping case will be much better for its higher carrier mobility and higher acceptor solubility.

Abstract: Abstract Using 448.1 × 106 ψ(3686) decays collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII e + e − storage rings, the branching fractions and angular distributions of the decays χ cJ → Ξ − Ξ ¯ $$ \overline{\Xi} $$ + and Ξ0 Ξ ¯ $$ \overline{\Xi} $$ 0 (J = 0, 1, 2) are measured based on a partial-reconstruction technique. The decays χ c1 → Ξ0 Ξ ¯ $$ \overline{\Xi} $$ 0 and χ c2 → Ξ0 Ξ ¯ $$ \overline{\Xi} $$ 0 are observed for the first time with statistical significances of 7σ and 15σ, respectively. The results of this analysis are in good agreement with previous measurements and have significantly improved precision.

42. Analysis of 3D fluid driven crack propagation problem in co-seismic slip under P- and S-waves by hybrid hypersingular integral method

Abstract: This work reports a new and accurate way of theoretical and numerical description of the extended 3D fluid (electromagnetic and flow) driven crack progression in co-seismic slip under P- and S-waves. First, based on the viscous fluid flow reciprocal work theorem, the hybrid hypersingular integral equation (HIE) method proposed by the author was defined by combined with the coupled extended wave time-domain HIE and the extended diffused interface phase field method. The general extended 3D fluid flow velocity wave solutions are obtained by the extended wave time-domains Green’s function method. The 3D extended dynamic fluid driven crack modeling under fully coupled electromagnetothermoelastic P- and S-wave and flow field was established. Then, the problem is reduced to solving a set of extended hybrid HIEs coupled with nonlinear boundary domain integral equations, in which the unknown functions are the general extended flow velocity discontinuity waves. The behavior of the general extended singular stress indices around the crack front terminating is analyzed by hybrid time-domain main-part analysis. The general extended singular pore stress waves (SPSWs) and the extended dynamic stress intensity factors (DSIFs) on the fluid driven crack surface are obtained from closed-form solutions. In addition, a numerical method for the problem is proposed, in which the extended velocity discontinuity waves are approximated by the product of time-domain density functions and polynomials. The extended DSIFs and general extended SPSWs are calculated, and the results are presented toward demonstrating the applicability of the proposed method.

Abstract: Cucumber powdery mildew is one of the most destructive foliar diseases of cucurbits. Extracts of Robinia pseudoacacia Linn1 are known to have medicinal and poisonous uses. Here we report that crude extracts (80 mg ml −1 ) of R. pseudoacacia had a protective effect (81.25%) against the powdery mildew fungus, Sphaerotheca fuliginea , in culture room conditions. Further solvent partition assays showed that the most active compounds were in the water phase, and not in the organic phase. The water-soluble extracts had a much higher antifungal efficacy in both the culture room and greenhouse conditions in a dose-dependent manner, which was further confirmed by in vitro bioassays. R. pseudoacacia water-soluble extracts were further separated by liquid chromatography and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) assays, which revealed at least two bioactive compounds. Our results demonstrated that the water-soluble bioactive compounds in R. pseudoacacia extracts have protective effects against S. fuliginea in both the culture room and greenhouse conditions, and merits further investigation as an environmentally friendly fungicide.

46. Oxidation of Al–Au intermetallics and its consequences studied by x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy

Abstract: Three common Al–Au intermetallics, Al2Au, AlAu2, and AlAu4, were oxidized in the air and characterized using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy in terms of the elemental chemical state. It was found that there is an increasing trend of oxidation in these intermetallics as the Au content increases. AlAu4 shows the greatest tendency to oxidize with two extra peaks appearing on the Au 4f spectra after long exposure time in air. The surface of AlAu2, although fully oxidized, reveals only one Au 4f peak shift as depth increases. Al2Au was the least oxidizing compound, and the oxide is thin. The binding energies of Al 2p and Au 4f peaks were measured and reported. The Au atoms trapped in the oxide layers exhibit higher binding energy emissions compared to those of elemental Au.

Abstract: We report a search for a dark photon using 14.9 fb−1 of e+e− annihilation data taken at center-of-mass energies from 4.13 to 4.60 GeV with the BESIII detector operated at the BEPCII storage ring. The dark photon is assumed to be produced in the radiative annihilation process of e+e− and to predominantly decay into light dark matter particles, which escape from the detector undetected. The mass range from 1.5 to 2.9 GeV is scanned for the dark photon candidate, and no significant signal is observed. The mass dependent upper limits at the 90% confidence level on the coupling strength parameter ϵ for a dark photon coupling with an ordinary photon vary between 1.6×10−3 and 5.7×10−3.

Abstract: We search for an axion-like particle (ALP) a through the process ψ(3686)→π+π−J/ψ, J/ψ→γa, a→γγ in a data sample of (2.71±0.01)×109 ψ(3686) events collected by the BESIII detector. No significant ALP signal is observed over the expected background, and the upper limits on the branching fraction of the decay J/ψ→γa and the ALP-photon coupling constant gaγγ are set at 95% confidence level in the mass range of 0.165≤ma≤2.84GeV/c2. The limits on B(J/ψ→γa) range from 8.3×10−8 to 1.8×10−6 over the search region, and the constraints on the ALP-photon coupling are the most stringent to date for 0.165≤ma≤1.468GeV/c2.

49. Formation and stability of pyrochlore in sputtered SBT thin films

Abstract: In magnetron sputtering of SrBi2Ta2O9 (SBT) thin films, bismuth deficiency tends to result in formation of an unwanted pyrochlore phase. In this paper, the dependence of deposition parameters on phase evolution in Sr deficient SBT thin films is studied. Only when bismuth is over stoichiometric (Sr0.74Bi2.2Ta2O9+x) can one obtain pure SBT structure. Decreasing the Bi content encourages formation of the Bi deficient pyrochlore phase. At 1.04 of Bi, only the pyrochlore phase forms. The pyrochlore phase is very stable even at 900°C.

Abstract: Core/shell structured Mn3O(4)/MnO nanoparticles were prepared by arc evaporating metallic manganese in air. These nanoparticles show unconventional exchange bias phenomena, in which the Curie temperature of the ferrimagnetic Mn3O4 is lower than the Neel temperature of the anti ferromagnetic MnO. The exchange bias field in Mn3O4/MnO nanoparticles is much smaller than that in Mn3O4/Mn nanoparticles, due to the weak interfacial exchange coupling. The coercivity of the Mn3O4 phase in nanoscale is almost three times greater than that of the bulk Mn3O4. (C) 2007 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
