1. Sidedness and addition of chemotherapy associated with treatment outcomes of regorafenib for metastatic colorectal cancer: a population-wide cohort study

Abstract: Background: Regorafenib is a salvage option for metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC). Understanding the prognostic factors for mCRC patients undergoing regorafenib treatment can help optimize therapeutic strategies. Materials and methods: We searched Taiwan’s National Health Insurance database for patients who began regorafenib treatment for mCRC between 1 September 2015 and 31 December 2018. Taiwan’s National Death Registry and the Taiwan Cancer Registry were examined for data on survival and clinicopathological variables, respectively. Results: In total, 3643 patients were included in the analysis. The median time to treatment discontinuation (TTD) was 2.3 months, and the median overall survival (OS) was 7.2 months. Compared with the patients with a right-sided tumor, those with a left-sided primary tumor exhibited a significantly longer TTD (2.4 versus 2.1 months, P < 0.001) and OS (7.6 versus 6.1 months, P < 0.001). The patients who received chemotherapy with regorafenib also exhibited a longer TTD (2.6 versus 2.2 months, P < 0.001) and OS (8.3 versus 6.7 months, P < 0.001) than did the patients who did not. In multivariate analysis, left-sidedness and chemotherapy addition were confirmed as predictors of longer TTD and OS. Because of the interaction between sidedness and KRAS mutation, we established separate Cox models and identified that left-sidedness was an independent predictor of longer TTD and OS for KRAS wild-type tumors but not for KRAS-mutant tumors. Conclusions: In this population-wide cohort study, left-sidedness of the primary tumor and the addition of chemotherapy were associated with a longer OS and TTD for regorafenib treatment for mCRC.

2. Effect of acid-soluble aluminum content on precipitates and magnetic properties of grain oriented silicon steel

Abstract: The effect of acid-soluble aluminum content on precipitates and magnetic properties of grain oriented silicon steel was researched by optical microscopy and zeiss ultra 55 Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) technique respectively. The results show that the number of precipitates increases with the increase of acid-soluble aluminum content, and the size of precipitates is relatively large after hot rolling. Under the low hot rolling temperature, the number of precipitates in the samples is large and the size is small, moreover, the grain size of the primary recrystallized grain is small. The matching of process parameters under different production process lines is the key to obtain good magnetic performance. The effect of nitriding on magnetic properties of the samples is related to the acidsoluble aluminum content of the samples. Too much acid-soluble aluminum can deteriorate the magnetic properties.

3. Effect of finishing rolling reduction on microstructures and textures of grain oriented silicon steel

Abstract: The effect of finishing rolling reduction on microstructures and textures of grain oriented silicon steel was researched by optical microscopy, zeiss ultra 55 Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) technique severally. The results show that the grain size of hot rolled sheets and decarburized strips decreases, while the center grain size of the normalized sheet increases with the increase of the finishing rolling reduction. The pearlite content increases with the increase of the finishing rolling reduction after normalization. Compare with the previous research, the effect of finishing rolling reduction on the grain size of primary recrystallization is greater than that of roughing rolling reduction, and large rolling reduction is beneficial to the formation of {110} texture.

Abstract: The effect of hot rolling reduction on microstructures and textures of grain oriented silicon steel was studied by optical microscopy (OM), zeiss ultra 55 Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) technique respectively. The results indicate that the effect of hot rolling reduction on grain size of hot rolled and normalized sheets in surface layer is great, while the effect on grain size of primary recrystallized grain is little. The shear zone thickens with the finishing reduction decreases, moreover strong {111} and {110} textures can be obtained in hot rolled sheets. Combined with the previous research conclusions, it can be found that the rolling process of oriented silicon steel is contributed to the formation of texture, while the recrystallization process reduces the sharpness of the texture.

Abstract: The effect of hot rolling temperature on microstructures and textures of grain oriented silicon steel was studied by optical microscopy (OM), zeiss ultra 55 Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) technique respectively. The results show that being hot rolled at 1 152 °C and 1 227 °C respectively, the effect of hot rolling temperature on microstructures of hot rolled and normalized sheets is little, and there is only a small difference in grain size between the samples. Secondary recrystallization is difficult to occur in the medium temperature sample due to the lack of sufficient inhibitors in the sample. The major deformed texture component in center region of hot rolled sheets is {114} which has obviously heredity, and it is more sharp in low temperature sample.

6. Study on production of conventional grain oriented (CGO) silicon steel without normalizing process

Abstract: The production of conventional grain oriented silicon steel without normalizing was studied by two-stage cold rolling process, and the orientation evolution was analyzed by optical microscopy (OM) and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) technique. The results indicate that, the key of CGO silicon steel hot rolled sheet canceling normalizing process is to obtain as many {111} and Goss oriented grains as possible, meanwhile, it is to increase the nitrogen pressure appropriately during the temperature-rise stage of secondary recrystallization. By controlling the process parameters, the iron loss P1, 7 of the finished product is 1,258 W/kg, and the magnetic induction B8 is 1,840 T. Furthermore, the cubic orientation can be retained more in CGO silicon steel after annealing due to the less influence of columnar grain.

7. AN AUTONOMOUS GPS-DENIED UNMANNED VEHICLE PLATFORM BASED ON BINOCULAR VISION FOR PLANETARY EXPLORATION

Abstract: Vision-based navigation has become an attractive solution for autonomous navigation for planetary exploration. This paper presents our work of designing and building an autonomous vision-based GPS-denied unmanned vehicle and developing an ARFM (Adaptive Robust Feature Matching) based VO (Visual Odometry) software for its autonomous navigation. The hardware system is mainly composed of binocular stereo camera, a pan-and tilt, a master machine, a tracked chassis. And the ARFM-based VO software system contains four modules: camera calibration, ARFM-based 3D reconstruction, position and attitude calculation, BA (Bundle Adjustment) modules. Two VO experiments were carried out using both outdoor images from open dataset and indoor images captured by our vehicle, the results demonstrate that our vision-based unmanned vehicle is able to achieve autonomous localization and has the potential for future planetary exploration.

Abstract: The origin of the platy-ridged-polygonized (PRP) terrains on Martian surface has long been debated. The terrain has generally been classified as water, pack ice, or basalt lava related flow. The crater counting results of the PRP terrains suggest they are geologically very young; therefore, they are significant in understanding the recent evolution of Mars. This work evaluated the current hypotheses through detailed analysis of the distribution and microtopographies with the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) images for the PRP terrains in Elysium Planitia, Mars. Quantitative measurements and statistics of the typical features of the PRP terrains were also made. In addition, we also found an analog site in Tarim Basin in Xinjiang, China. Our results suggest that mud flow is responsible for the formation of the PRP terrains on the Mars surface, although the hypothesis of low-viscosity basalt lava floods cannot be completely excluded. This finding implies that a regional environment suitable for liquid water may have existed in recent geologic time, which has great importance for future Mars scientific exploration.

15. Influencing factors of the drying rate of sludge for solar drying chamber

Abstract: In view of the problems of low solar energy utilization efficiency, drying efficiency to be improved and sludge adhesion in the process of solar drying sludge, the research was carried out on the heat collection effect of solar collectors, sludge drying characteristics and sludge drying process, as well as the influence of sludge drying process parameters on the sludge drying rate such as hot air temperature, solar radiation intensity and air substitution,. on the self-built industrial simulation test bench. The results show that: the maximum temperature difference between the inside and the outdoor environment of the solar collectors is 36°C, when the outdoor environment temperature of the developed solar collectors is 13-26°C; the optimum process parameters of sludge drying rate under the experimental conditions that the moisture content of wet sludge is 82.7%, are as follows: the temperature of hot air is 43°C, the maximum solar radiation intensity (about 12:00), the optimal flow rate of air is controlled at 1.2m/s, the thickness of the material layer is 3cm, the large contact between air and materials improves the problem of sludge adhesion. All which provide a theoretical basis for the implementation on the industrialization of solar drying sludge.

16. Effect of annealing on the structure and magnetic entropy change of Mn1.1Fe0.9P0.8Ge0.2 ribbons

Abstract: In this study, we report the effect of annealing temperature on the phase constitution, microstructure and magnetocaloric properties of Mn1.1Fe0.9P0.8Ge0.2 melt-spun ribbons. The secondary phases were formed upon annealing at 1073 and 1173 K, whereas the pure Fe2P-typed phase was formed after a higher temperature annealing at 1273 K. A huge thermal hysteresis of about 40 K width was observed in the first magnetostructural transition cycle. However, during the second cycle it was drastically reduced down almost to zero. A large magnetic entropy change Delta S for ribbons annealed 1273 K is estimated to be 23 J/kg K for a field change of 5T. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

In this paper, we describe the recent upgrade of the initial BES detector (BESI) to the improved BESII detector.

Abstract: Using the upgraded Beijing Spectrometer, we have measured the total cross section for e(+)e(-) annihilation into hadronic final states at center-of-mass energies of 2.6, 3.2, 3.4, 3.55, 4.6, and 5.0 GeV. Values of R, sigma(e(+)e(-)-->hadrons)/sigma(e(+)e(-)-->m(+)m(-)), are determined.

Abstract: A sample of 3.79 million psi(2S) decays observed in the BES detector is used to study the decays of charmonium to axialvector plus pseudoscalar mesons. The branching fraction for psi(2S) to b1pi agrees with expectations. A contrasting behavior between the psi(2S) and the J/psi decays to K1K cannot be accommodated by an adjustment of the singlet-triplet axialvector mixing angle., 7 pages, 3 figures. Abstract: A partial wave analysis of BES J / ψ → γ ( ηπ + π − ) data has been performed in the mass region 1.1 to 2.0 GeV. A peak is observed due to η (1440) in the ηπ + π − invariant mass distribution; J P =0 − is preferred over 1 + . Its mass is M =1385±7 MeV and it decays into both ησ and a 0 (980) π , with BR[ a 0 (980) π , a 0 → ηπ / ησ ]=0.70±0.12( stat )±0.20( syst ). Destructive interference between the two decay modes is observed. In addition, in the higher ηπ + π − mass region, there is a definite 2 −+ signal, with M =1840±15 MeV and Γ =170±40 MeV and an additional 0 −+ signal at 1760±35 MeV. We also find a possible contribution from a 1 ++ signal decaying dominantly through a 0 (980) π ; its mass and width are fitted to be M =1505±20 MeV and Γ =130 −20 +50 MeV.

We determine upper limits on branching fractions for ψ(2S) decays into ωf2, ρa2, K*0K*02 + c.c., and φf'2(1525) that are, in each case, significantly smaller than the corresponding branching fractions for the J/ψ meson, scaled according to the expectations of perturbative QCD. © 1998 The American Physical Society.

We determine the total width of the χc0 to be γtotχc0 = 14.3 ± 2.0 ± 3.0 MeV. We present the first measurement of the branching fraction B(χc0 → pp¯) = (15.9 ± 4.3 ± 5.3) × 10−5, where the first error is statistical and the second one is systematic. Branching fractions of χc0, 2 → π+ π− and K+ K− are also reported. © 1998 American Physical Society.

Abstract: Purely leptonic decays of the charged D meson have been studied using the reaction e + e − →D ∗+ D − at a center of mass energy of 4.03 GeV. A search was performed for D→μνμ recoiling against a D0 or D+ which had been reconstructed from its hadronic decay products. A single event candidate was found in the reaction e + e − →D ∗+ D − , where D ∗+ →π + D 0 with the D0→K−π+, and the recoiling D− decaying via D − →μ − ν μ . This yields a branching fraction value B(D→μνμ)=0.08−0.05−0.02+0.16+0.05%, and a corresponding value of the pseudoscalar decay constant fD=300−150−40+180+80 MeV.

Abstract: With 7.8 million produced J / ψ events collected by the BES detector at the BEPC, decays J/ψ→Λ Λ ,Λ Λ γ and Λ Λ π 0 are analysed. The branching ratios are measured to be Br (J/ψ→Λ Λ )=(1.08±0.06±0.24)×10 −3 , Br (J/ψ→Λ Λ γ) −4 (90% C.L. ) , Br (J/ψ→Λ Λ π 0 )=(2.3±0.7±0.8)×10 −4 , respectively. The angular distribution for J/ψ→Λ Λ is of the form d N d cos θ =N 0 (1+α cos 2 θ) , from which we determine α =0.52±0.33±0.13.

Abstract: A search is performed for the production of the ψ(2S) in e^+e^- annihilation at a center-of-mass energy of 4.03 GeV using the BES detector operated at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC). The kinematic features of the reconstructed ψ(2S) signal are consistent with its being produced only in association with an energetic photon resulting from initial state radiation (ISR). Limits are placed on ψ(2S) production from the decay of unknown charmonia or metastable hybrids that might be produced in e^+e^- annihilations at 4.03 GeV. Under the assumption that the observed cross section for ψ(2S) production is due entirely to ISR, the partial width Γ_(ee) of the ψ(2S) is measured to be 2.07±0.32keV.

Abstract: The absolute inclusive branching fraction of D_s^+→φX^+ has been measured from data collected by the BES detector at a center-of-mass energy of 4.03 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 22.3 pb^(-1). At this energy, direct pair production e^+e^-→D_s^+D_s^- has been observed. We have selected D_s candidate events by reconstructing five hadronic decay modes D_s^+→φπ^+, K^(0*)K^+, K^0K^+, f0^(π+) and K^0K^-π^+π^+ and have searched for inclusive φ’s in the recoiling D_s^-. We observed three recoiling φ’s in the 166.4 ± 31.8 D_s candidate events, which leads to the absolute branching fraction B(D_s^+→φX^+)=(17.8(-7.2 -6.3)^(+15.1+0.6)) % and B(D_s-6.3+→φπ-6.3+)=(3.6_(-1.6 -1.3)(^_3.1+0.4) %. Abstract: The global topologies of inclusive three- and four-jet events produced in $\overline{p}p$ interactions are described. The three- and four-jet events are selected from data recorded by the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider operating at a center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=1800$ GeV. The measured, normalized distributions of various topological variables are compared with parton-level predictions of tree-level QCD calculations. The parton-level QCD calculations are found to be in good agreement with the data. The studies also show that the topological distributions of the different subprocesses involving different numbers of quarks are very similar and reproduce the measured distributions well. The parton-shower Monte Carlo generators provide a less satisfactory description of the topologies of the three- and four-jet events.

Abstract: The BES experiment at the Beijing electron-positron collider has observed the $\ensuremath{\xi}$(2230) signal in ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$, ${K}^{+}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}$, ${K}_{S}^{0}{K}_{S}^{0}$, and $p\overline{p}$ final states with $4.6\ensuremath{\sigma}$, $4.1\ensuremath{\sigma}$, $4.0\ensuremath{\sigma}$, and $3.8\ensuremath{\sigma}$ statistical significances, respectively. The new observations of two nonstrange decay modes of $\ensuremath{\xi}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ and $p\overline{p}$ are important evidence for the glueball interpretation of the $\ensuremath{\xi}(2230)$.

Abstract: We report on a search for right-handed W bosons (W R ) with mass greater than 200GeV/c 2 . We used data collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron pp collider at √s=1.8TeV to search for W R decays into an electron and a massive right-handed neutrino W R ± >e ± N R . Using the inclusive electron data, we set mass limits independent of the N R decay: m W R >650GeV/c 2 and m W R >720GeV/c 2 at the 95% confidence level, valid for m N R W R and mN R «m W R , respectively. The latter also represents a new lower limit on the mass of a heavy left-handed W boson (W') decaying into ev. In addition, limits on mWR valid for larger values of the N R mass are obtained assuming that NR decays to an electron and two jets.

Abstract: We have searched for associated production of the lightest chargino W 1 and next-to-lightest neutralino Z 2 of the minimal supersymmetric standard model in pp collisions at √s=1.8 TeV using the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. Data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 12.5±0.7pb -1 were examined for events containing three isolated leptons. No evidence for W 1 Z 2 pair production was found. Limits on s(W 1 Z 2 )B(W 1 →lνZ 1 )B(Z 2 →llZ 1 ) are presented.

Abstract: We present a search for pair produced top squarks, the supersymmetric partners of the top quark, using the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron pp collider. We consider a scenario in which the lighter of the two top squarks t 1 decays with 100% branching fraction to a charm quark and the lightest neutralino χ 1 0 yielding a signal of two acollinear jets with missing transverse energy. We observe 3 events while we expect 3.5±1.2 events from the known standard model processes. We exclude at the 95% confidence level a significant region of the m t 1 - m χ 1 0 parameter space. The highest m t 1 value we exclude is 93 GeV/c 2 with a corresponding m χ 1 0 value of 8 GeV/c 2 .

Abstract: We have studied J ψ production in p p collisions at s = 1.8 TeV with the DO detector at Fermilab using μ+μ− data. We have measured the inclusive J ψ production cross section as a function of J ψ transverse momentum, pT. For the kinematic range pT > 8 GeV/c and |η| σ(p p → J ψ + X) · Br ( J ψ → μ + μ − ) = 2.08 ± 0.17( stat) ± 0.46(syst) nb. Using the muon impact parameter we have estimated the fraction of J ψ mesons coming from B meson decays to be fb = 0.35 ± 0.09(stat)±0.10(syst) and inferred the inclusive b production cross section. From the information on the event topology the fraction of nonisolated J ψ events has been measured to be fnonisol = 0.64 ± 0.08(stat)±0.06(syst). We have also obtained the fraction of J ψ events resulting from radiative decays of χc states, fχ = 0.32 ± 0.07(stat)±0.07(syst). We discuss the implications of our measurements for charmonium production processes.

Abstract: A study of the particle multiplicity between jets with large rapidity separation has been performed using the D\O\ detector at the Fermilab Tevatron $p\bar{p}$ Collider operating at $\sqrt{s}=1.8$\,TeV. A significant excess of low-multiplicity events is observed above the expectation for color-exchange processes. The measured fractional excess is $1.07 \pm 0.10({\rm stat})~{ + 0.25}_{- 0.13}({\rm syst})\%$, which is consistent with a strongly-interacting color-singlet (colorless) exchange process and cannot be explained by electroweak exchange alone. A lower limit of $0.80\%$ (95\% C.L.) is obtained on the fraction of dijet events with color-singlet exchange, independent of the rapidity gap survival probability.

Abstract: The ratio of the number of {ital W}+1 jet to {ital W}+0 jet events is measured with the D0 detector using data from the 1992--93 Tevatron Collider run. For the {ital W}{r_arrow}{ital e}{nu} channel with a minimum jet {ital E}{sub {ital T}} cutoff of 25 GeV, the experimental ratio is 0.065{plus_minus}0.003(stat){plus_minus}0.007(syst). Next-to-leading order QCD predictions for various parton distributions agree well with each other and are all over 1 standard deviation below the measurement. Varying the strong coupling constant {alpha}{sub {ital s}} in both the parton distributions and the partonic cross sections simultaneously does not remove this discrepancy. {copyright} {ital 1995} {ital The} {ital American} {ital Physical} {ital Society}.

Abstract: The Beijing Spectrometer (BES) Collaboration has observed exclusive pair production of D_s mesons at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider (BEPC) at a center-of-mass energy of 4.03 GeV. The D_s mesons are detected in the φπ^+, K¯^(*0)K^+, and K¯^0K^+ decay modes; two fully reconstructed events yield the value (3.9_(-1.9-1.1)^(+5.1+1.8))% for the D_s branching fraction to φπ. This is the first direct, model-independent measurement of this quantity.

Abstract: The cross sections for e+e− → hadrons, e+e−, μ+μ− have been measured in the vicinity of the J Ψ resonance using the BES detector operated at BEPC. The partial widths for J Ψ to hadrons, electrons, muons and the total width have been determined to be Γh = 74.1 ± 8.1 keV, Γe = 5.14 ± 0.39 keV, Γμ = 5.13 ± 0.52 keV, and Γ = 84.4 ± 8.9 keV, respectively.

Abstract: We report a measurement of the inclusive muon and {ital b}-quark production cross sections in {ital p{bar p}} collisions at {radical}{ital s}=1.8 TeV using the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron collider. The inclusive muon spectrum extends over the kinematic range {vert_bar}{ital y}{sup {mu}}{vert_bar}{lt}0.8 and 3.5{lt}{ital p}{sub {ital T}}{sup {mu}}{lt}60GeV/{ital c}, and is well described by the expected contributions from various known sources. The {ital b}-quark production cross section for {vert_bar}{ital y}{sup {ital b}}{vert_bar}{lt}1.0 and {ital p}{sup {ital b}}{sub {ital T}}{gt}6GeV/{ital c} is extracted, and agrees with next-to-leading order QCD predictions within the experimental and theoretical uncertainties.

Abstract: We present new results on the search for the top quark in p anti-p collisions at S**(1/2) = 1.8 TeV with an integrated luminosity of 13.5 +- 1.6 pb**(-1). We have considered t anti-t production in the Standard Model using electron and muon dilepton decay channels (t anti-t -> e mu + jets, e e + jets, and mu mu + jets) and single-lepton decay channels (t anti-t -> e + jets and mu + jets) with and without tagging of b quark jets. From all channels, we have 9 events with an expected background of 3.8 +- 0.9. If we assume that the excess is due to t anti-t production, and assuming a top mass of 180 GeV/c**2, we obtain a cross section of 8.2 +- 5.1 pb.

Abstract: The Beijing Spectrometer (BES) is a general purpose solenoidal detector at the Beijing Electron Positron Collider (BEPC). It is designed to study exclusive final states in e + e − annihilations at the center of mass energy from 3.0 to 5.6 GeV. This requires large solid angle coverage combined with good charged particle momentum resolution, good particle identification and high photon detection efficiency at low energies. In this paper we describe the construction and the performance of BES detector.

45. A structure theorem for a pair of quadratic forms

Abstract: For any two lattices L and K in the same genus there exist isometric primitive sublattices L' , K' of codimension 1. This result not only proves Friedland's conjecture but also extends it to lattices in an arbitrary genus and defined over any algebraic number field. In [F] Friedland proved that for any two positive definite integral symmetric matrices A and B of rank n and determinant unity there are matrices A1 = (aij) and B1 = (b1j) which are Z-equivalent (as quadratic forms) to A and B respectively and such that aij = bij for 1 < i, j < n 2. He further conjectured that the same holds with 1 < i, j < n 1. His proof is matricial. We shall give here not only a lattice-theoretic proof of his theorem, but also a more general result not restricted to unimodular lattices rather for any genus and defined over any number field. Furthermore, we shall also prove the conjectured codimension-one result in this full general setting. In the course of the proof we shall first present a weaker version (Proposition) which is based on the theorem of "spinor linkage" [BH]. This version is weaker because the constructed pair of isometric sublattices in general has codimension two and will only have codimension one when the given lattices corresponding to the matrices A and B belong to the same spinor genus. However, this version has the virtue that the isometric sublattices are more effectively determinable since the effectiveness of finding the prime spot in the construction of the associated graph had been demonstrated in [BH]. The more general statement in the structure theorem below uses the stronger property of "class linkage" which is of independent interest. In what follows, let F be an algebraic number field, R its ring of integers, and V a regular quadratic space over F of dimension n. Let L and K be two R-lattices on V belonging to the same genus. L and K are said to be q-neighbors (for some discrete spot q on F) if Lp = Kp for p :# q and [Lq: Lq n Kq] = [Kq: Lq n Kq] = Norm(q). Abstract: We report values of $R\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}=\phantom{\rule{0ex}{0ex}}\ensuremath{\sigma}({e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\mathrm{hadrons})/\ensuremath{\sigma}({e}^{+}{e}^{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{\ensuremath{-}})$ for 85 center-of-mass energies between 2 and $5\mathrm{GeV}$ measured with the upgraded Beijing Spectrometer at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider.

Abstract: The branching fraction of the psi(2S) decay into tau(+) tau(-) has been measured for the first time using the BES detector at the Beijing Electron-Positron Collider. The result is B-tautau =(2.71+/-0.43+/-0.55) x 10(-3), where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. This value, along with those for the branching fractions into e(+)c(-) and mu(+)mu(-) of this resonance, satisfy well the relation predicted by the sequential lepton hypothesis. Combining all these values with the leptonic width of the resonance, the total width of the psi(2S) is determined to be (252+/-37) keV.

Abstract: In this work, we present significant charge trapping memory effects of the metal-hafnium oxide-SiO2-Si (MHOS) structure. The devices based on 800 °C annealed HfO2 film exhibit a large memory window of ∼5.1 V under ±10 V sweeping voltages and excellent charge retention properties with only small charge loss of ∼2.6% after more than 104 s retention. The outstanding memory characteristics are attributed to the high density of deep defect states in HfO2 films. We investigated the defect states in the HfO2 films by photoluminescence and photoluminescence excitation measurements and found that the defect states distributed in deep energy levels ranging from 1.1 eV to 2.9 eV below the conduction band. Our work provides further insights for the charge trapping mechanisms of the HfO2 based MHOS devices.

Abstract: Radiative decays of the radially excited charmonium resonance, \psi(2S), into \pi\pi, K Kbar and \eta\eta final states have been measured in a sample of 3.96 * 10^6 \psi(2S) events collected by the BES collaboration. The branching ratios B(\psi(2S) -> \gamma f_{2}(1270)) = (2.27 +- 0.26 +- 0.39) * 10^{-4} and B(\psi(2S) -> \gamma f_0(1710)) * B(f_0(1710) -> K^+ K^-) = (5.59 +- 1.12 +- 0.93) * 10^{-5} are obtained. When compared to the corresponding radiative J/\psi decays, the observed \psi(2S) radiative decay rates into \gamma f_2(1270) and \gamma f_0(1710) are consistent with the 15% rule., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures
