In this study, six different donor-π-acceptor 1 -π-donor-acceptor 2 type random co-polymers containing benzodithiophene as a donor, benzooxadiazole (BO), and thieno[3,4-c]pyrrole-4,6-dione (TPD) as acceptor, have been synthesized and characterized. In addition to the acceptor core ratio at different values, the effect of aromatic bridge structures on the optical, electronic, and photovoltaic properties of six different random co-polymers is investigated by using thiophene and selenophene structures as aromatic bridge units. To investigate how the acceptor unit ratio and replacement of aromatic bridge units impact the structural, electronic, and optical properties of the polymers, density functional theory (DFT) calculations are carried out for the tetramer models. The open-circuit voltage (V OC ), which is strongly correlated with the HOMO levels of the donor material, is enhanced with the increasing ratio of the TPD moiety. On the other hand, the short-circuit current (J SC ), which is associated with the absorption ability of the donor material, is improved by the increasing ratio of BO moiety with the π-bridges. BO moiety dominant selenophene π-bridged co-polymer (P 4 ) showed the best performance with a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 6.26%, a J SC of 11.44 mA cm 2 , a V OC of 0.80 V, and a fill factor (FF) of 68.81%., (© 2024 The Author(s). Research demonstrates that young people value mental health support that is tailored to their needs and preferences, rather than a "one size fits all" offer, which is often not equitably accessible (National Children's Bureau, 2021). Understanding young people's lived experiences across different sociocultural contexts is important. The aim of this research was to conduct an international qualitative study on the views of young people with lived experience and professionals, on proposed aspects of personalised support for anxiety and/or depression. Participatory action focus groups were conducted with N = 120 young people with lived experience of anxiety and/or depression (14-24 years) and with N = 63 professionals in Brazil, India, Kenya, Pakistan, Portugal, South Africa, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. Data were analysed using the rigorous and accelerated data reduction (RADaR) technique. Overall, although some country-specific differences were found in terms of what aspects of support young people found to be most important, individual preferences were considered stronger, furthering the view that support should be personalised to the needs of the individual young person. Young people experiencing anxiety and/or depression should be able to choose for themselves which aspects of support they would prefer in their own care and support plans, with families and mental health professionals providing guidance where appropriate, rather than removing the young person from the decision-making process altogether. It should also be ensured that the aspects of personalised support can be understood by young people and professionals from different contexts, including marginalised and minoritised groups and communities., (© 2024. Tens of thousands of people worldwide became infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2. Death rate in the general population is about 1%-6%, but this rate rises up to 15% in those with comorbidities. Recent publications showed that the clinical progression of this disease in organ recipients is more destructive, with a fatality rate of up to 14%-25%. We aimed to review the effect of the pandemic on various transplantation patients. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has not only interrupted the lives of waiting list patients'; it has also impacted transplantation strategies, transplant surgeries and broken donation chains. COVID-19 was directly and indirectly accountable for a 73% surplus in mortality of this population as compared to wait listed patients in earlier years. The impact of chronic immunosuppression on outcomes of COVID-19 remains unclear but understanding the immunological mechanisms related to the virus is critically important for the lifetime of transplantation and immune suppressed patients. It is hard to endorse changing anti-rejection therapy, as the existing data evaluation is not adequate to advise substituting tacrolimus with cyclosporine during severe COVID-19 disease., (©The Author(s) 2021. Background: The latest coronavirus infection due to SARS-CoV-2, which started in China in December 2019, was announced as a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) in March 2020. All epidemiological data so far show us that SARS-CoV-2 infection is less serious in children than in adults. Allergic asthma, the most common chronic disease in children, is usually not to be related to greater risk or severity for COVID-19 in pediatric populations. Although reports/research on asthma and COVID-19 in children have thus far been comforting, when coming across an asthma patient with any lower airway infection, attention should be given to evaluate their asthma control level and the possibility of SARS-CoV-2 infection. Case Report . Here, we report a rare adolescent case of COVID-19-related pneumonia development with underlying asthma. A 16-year-old male patient has been followed up by the pediatric allergy outpatient clinic with the diagnosis of asthma for the last 5 years. He was thought to have typical clinical and laboratory findings for SARS-CoV-2 infection combined with underlying pediatric (allergic) asthma. Pulmonary CT showed findings consistent with COVID-19-related pneumonia. He was discharged after 1 week when all his complaints regressed, his examination became normal, and 5-day favipiravir treatment was completed., Conclusion: When a physician comes across an asthma patient with any lower airway infection, attention should be given to evaluate their asthma control level and possibility of SARS-CoV-2 infection., Competing Interests: The authors declare no conflicts of interest., (Copyright © 2021 Öner Özdemir et al.)

Background: Previous studies demonstrated critical deficits in diagnosis and management of childhood food allergy (FA), and recent developments in FA research support adopting a proactive approach in FA management. Our objective was to describe FA knowledge and management patterns of pediatricians., Method: We applied a 24-item survey to 170 general pediatricians, pediatric allergists and pediatric gastroenterologists practicing in Turkey., Results: Some IgE-mediated symptoms of FA such as cough, urticaria, wheezing and anaphylaxis were falsely recognized as symptoms of non-IgE-mediated FA by 30%, 29%, 25% and 19% of the participants, respectively. By contrast, 50% of the participants falsely recognized bloody stool, a finding of IgE-mediated FA. Most frequently and least frequently used diagnostic tools were specific IgE (30.5%) and oral food challenge test (1.7%), respectively. Maternal diet restrictions and infant diet restrictions were advised by 82% and 82%, respectively. Percentages of physicians eliminating only 1 food were 21%, 19%; 2 foods were 15%, 11%; 3 foods were 7%, 8%; 4-5 foods were 8%, 11%; 5 to 10 foods were 21%, 26%; and > 10 foods were 28%, 25% from the maternal and infant diet, respectively. Cow`s milk, cheese, butter, yoghurt, baked milk products and hen`s egg were the most commonly restricted items., Conclusion: Overall, FA knowledge of pediatricians was fair. Pediatricians utilize an overly restrictive approach when advising diet eliminations in FA. Recent developments favor a more proactive approach to induce immune tolerance and need to be encouraged in pediatric clinical practice. Future educational efforts should focus on emphasizing the deleterious effects of injudicious and extensive eliminations.

Preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) is defined as rupture of membrane that happens before the onset of labor and 37 weeks. Subclinical intrauterine infection is major etiological factor in the pathogenesis that increases mortality and morbidity associated with PPROM. This study was performed to evaluate the levels of maternal serum urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR), ST2 and interleukin (IL)-33 in PPROM and its relation with maternofetal infectious and morbidity. A total of 74 pregnant women, of which 49 with PPROM between 24 and 34 weeks gestation, and 25 normal pregnant women without PPROM were included in the study. Study group was seperated into 2 subgroups as PPROM and PPROM-histological chorioamnionitis (PPROM-HC). The blood samples were taken before the any medication. The mean serum IL-33, ST2, and uPAR values in the PPROM-HC group were significantly higher than PPROM and control group. The cut-off values of IL-33, ST2, and uPAR were determined as 5.2, 2 and 6.4 ng/mL, respectively. A cut-off value of IL-33 of 5.2 ng/mL, the cut-off of ST2 of 2 ng/mL and the cut-off of uPAR of 6.4 ng/mL showed similar sensitivity, specificity to IL-6 and the better sensitivity and specificity as compared to C-reactive protein and total leucocyte count in predicting infection in PPROM. We evaluated the predictive value of uPAR, ST2 and IL-33 in PPROM and we concluded that all of them can be used as reliable biomarkers to determine infection without any clinical signs but it is necessary to be studied in different cohort groups and infectious diseases.

Preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) is defined as a spontaneous membrane rupture that occurs before the onset of labor and 37 weeks gestation. Subclinical intrauterine infection has been suggested as a very important etiological factor in the pathogenesis and subsequent morbidity related with PPROM. This study was performed to assess the levels of maternal proadrenomedullin (pro-ADM) and serum amyloid A (AA) in PPROM and its association with fetomaternal infectious morbidity. A total of 63 pregnant women, of which 43 with PPROM between 24 and 34 weeks gestation and 20 normal pregnant women without PPROM were included in the study. The study group was separated into 2 subgroups as PPROM and PPROM-histological chorioamnionitis (PPROM-HC). The blood samples were taken before the administration of any medication. The mean serum interleukin-6 (IL-6), AA, and pro-ADM values in the PPROM-HC group were significantly higher than the PPROM and control group. The cutoff values of pro-ADM and AA were determined as 4.2 nM and 69 μg/mL, respectively. Both of them showed similar sensitivity, specificity to IL-6 and a better sensitivity and specificity as compared to C-reactive protein and white blood cell count. We determined the predictive value of pro-ADM and serum AA measurements in PPROM and PPROM with histological chorioamnionitis. We suggest using pro-ADM and serum AA biomarkers for detecting the histological chorioamnionitis at an earlier stage in PPROM without any clinical signs.
