Recently, a new interest in the social science community in location and a new "spatial social science" that crosses the traditional boundaries between disciplines have emerged. In this context, we will examine the usage of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the analysis of human resource management in the public sector. For this research, personnel and operational data of 957 Land Registry Offices in all districts of Turkey were used. These operational data were examined using different clustering techniques. By using tools of Geographic Information Systems to analyze public services, the distribution and condition of services can be understood much better. This study shows the first step to improve them and to allow for making better-informed decisions on where, when and what kind of resources to allocate in the human resource management in the public sector.

This study aimed to determine optimal extraction parameters by using response surface methodology, examining the effect of microencapsulation on crocin retention, and evaluating the temperature and pH stability of crocin microcapsules. The effect of process variables on the crocin yield was successfully determined by quadratic models (R 2 > 0.99 and adj R 2 > 0.98). All variables significantly affected the crocin yield (P < 0.1). The process parameters, namely extraction time (4.40 min), temperature (55 °C), amplitude level (94%), and liquid to solid ratio (L/S) (1000) were determined as optimum extraction points. Safranal was shown to be a compound with major volatility in both the saffron and microcapsule extracts. Safranal, 2,4,4-trimethyl-3-carboxaldehyde-5-hydroxy-2,5-cyclohexadiene-1-one, 4-hydroxy-2,6,6-trimethyl-1-cyclohexene-1-carboxaldehyde (HTCC), and isophorone were other major volatile compounds of saffron extract. The encapsulation process affected volatile percentage distribution insignificantly (P > 0.05). The thermal and pH stability of the crocin was determined at different temperatures (60, 70, 80, and 90 °C) and pH levels (2, 4.5, and 6). The crocin degradation showed first order kinetic, and degradation rate constant (k) were significantly affected by pH and temperature (P < 0.05). A high temperature and low pH showed higher degradation (k) in crocin content. This study suggested that crocin from saffron stigmas should be preserved by spray drying encapsulation and should only be used as a natural food colorant in low or moderate acid food. © 2019, Springer Science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature.

Yuzyillardan beri, butun ulkelerde tibbi acidan onemli olan cesitli meyveler, halk sagliginda hastaliklarin tedavisi amaciyla kullanilmaktadir. Bu meyveler arasinda uvez meyvesinin son zamanlarda antioksidan aktivitesi dikkat cekmektedir. Turkiye‘de dogal olarak yetisen Kus uvezi ( Sorbus aucuparia L ) ‘nin insan sagligi acisindan onemli biyoaktif bilesenler icerdigi yapilan calismalarla belirlenmistir. Yaygin olarak recel yapiminda degerlendirilen bu meyvenin saglik ve gida sektorlerinde kullanim potansiyelinin arastirilmasi onem arz etmektedir. Bu calismanin amaci farkli ekstraksiyon kosullarinda elde edilen uvez meyvesi ekstraktlarinin, toplam fenolik ve flavonoid madde miktarlari ile antioksidan aktivitelerinin incelenmesidir. Calismada Cal‘dan (Denizli) toplanan uvez meyveleri kurutulduktan sonra ogutulmus ve ultrason destekli ekstraksiyon yontemi ile uc farkli cozucu icerisinde ekstraktlar elde edilmistir. Ekstraksiyon islemi icin etanol:su (1:1), methanol:su (1:1), aseton:su (1:1) cozeltileri kullanilmis ve her solvent icin ayri ayri ultrasonik su banyosunda 50±5 o C sicaklikta 40 dakika sureyle ekstraksiyon islemleri gerceklestirilmis ve biyoaktif degerleri incelenmistir. Calismada, ekstrakt verimi, toplam fenolik ve flavonoid madde ile antioksidan aktivite (DPPH ( 2,2-difenil-1-pikril hidrazil )) degerlerinin en iyi ciktigi calisma kosullari, herbir ekstrakt elde etme yontemine gore aciklanmis ve tablo ve sekillerle karsilastirmalar yapilarak en iyi sonucun etanol:su karisimina (1:1) ait oldugu gorulmustur.

Amphetamine is asynthetic stimulant of the central nervous system. It was first synthesized in1887 by German chemist L. Edeleano, however the stimulant effects were notnoticed. In early 1930s, stimulant properties of amphetamine were discovered.Thus, it was marketed as an inhaller for nasal congestion. During World War II,the military in the United States, Great Britain, Germany, and Japan usedamphetamines to increase alertness and endurance and to improve mood. Theorigin of the amphetamine sold as Captagon is unknown. Conventionally, thesubstance was believed to have been manufactured illicitly in South-East Europe,notably Bulgaria, and trafficked to the region, often transiting Turkey by airor sea. Amphetamine causes hypertension and tachycardia with feelings ofincreased confidence, sociability and energy. After oral administration, theeffects usually start in 30 minutes and last for many hours. This studyintended to develop and optimize GC-MS method for analysis of amphetamines insynthetic tables which were seized in 15 different places and times and sent tothe Ankara Police Forensic Laboratory, Gölbaşı, Turkey. The GC-MS systemequipped with an Agilent Technologies (CA, USA) 6890, a gas chromatograph andan Agilent 7683B auto injector coupled with a 5973 inert Agilent electronimpact (EI) mass spectrometer was utilized for the identification ofamphetamines in synthetic tables. In order to validate the method in terms ofprecision and recovery; certified reference standard of d-amphetamin. HCL andparacetamol were analyzed for ten times. A secondary standard of amphetamineprepared at the concentration of 0.30 mg/ mL was analyzed for ten times. Meanamphetamine concentration was found 0.30±8.44x10-3 where percent relativestandard deviation was calculated as 2.84%. Successful percent recovery valueswere ranged between 94.64% and 100.49 while GC-MS method for amphetamineanalysis provided LOD and LOQ values equal to 0.0117 mg/mL and 0.0391 mg/mL,respectively.&nbsp

Genetictoxicology is the scientific discipline concerning with the toxic effects ofchemical, physical and biological agents on deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) ofliving organisms. Genetic information encoded chemically in DNA is continued,replicated and transmitted to following generations with high fidelity. Eitherdirect or indirect damage to DNA can be originated from normal biologic processor as the result of interaction of DNA with chemical, physical or biologicalmechanisms. Mercury exists in elemental, inorganic and organic forms.Methlymercury has been an environmental interest to public health andregulatory agencies for many years because of its neurotoxicity. People are atrisk of mercury exposure by fish food, mercury vapor from amalgam toothfillings and antiseptic and antifungal agent including organomercury compoundnamed as thimerosal. Mercury genotoxicity has been generally featured to itsability to react with the sulfhydryl groups of tubulin, damaging spindlefunction and leading to chromosomal defects and polyploidy. Another substantialmechanism of mercury genotoxicity is its capability to produce free radicalswhich can cause DNA damage. In vivo studies have demonstrated a clastogeniceffect of mercury on people who are exposed to this element. Elevated numbersof chromosome mutaions and micronuclei have been reported in miners, workers ofexplosive factories and people who consume contaminated fish. Since genetictoxicology and toxicogenetic become important scientific fields recently,mercury compounds which affect DNA and cause to changes on DNA were mentionedin present review.&nbsp

Studies due to biological screening in toxicological research are importantfor the asssessment of human health risk considering environmental pollution.Toxic metals are one of the serious groups of environmental contaminants.Beta-thalassemia is a form of thalassemia that is caused by a deficiency of betaglobin related to any of more than 200 point mutations in functionallyimportant regions of the beta globin gene on chromosome 11. This deficiencybrings about an accumulation of unpaired α-globin chains and an inequalitybetween α and β globin chains, that develops an extensive range of thalassaemiaphenotypes including severe anemia and clinically asymptomatic individuals.Iron is an essential element for many biological and cellular processes in atrace amount, which is a part of numerous hemoproteins and non-heme ironproteins. Differences in iron metabolism can alter lead toxicokinetics. Thus,genes related to iron metabolism could modify lead toxicity. From this point of view, the present studyintended to measure toxic and essentials metal levels in 100 geneticallyunrelated thalassemia patients and 100 healthy unrelated controls. Hence, itwas also aimed to investigate whether or not iron-deficiency inbeta-thalassemia patients was associated with blood metal levels. Measurementwas performed by Atomic Absportion Spectrometry.
