Background Among patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and stable coronary artery disease, bleeding events increased the cardiovascular events and mortality. We aimed to evaluate the effect of proton pump inhibitor (PPI) on the risk of bleeding events in these patients. Methods In the AFIRE (Atrial Fibrillation and Ischemic Events With Rivaroxaban in Patients With Stable Coronary Artery Disease), patients with non-valvular AF and coronary artery disease were recruited and randomized to receive the rivaroxaban monotherapy or combination therapy with rivaroxaban plus antiplatelet drug. The present sub-analysis evaluated the risks of any bleeding events. Results Among 2,225 patients, 1,357 (61.3%) were receiving a PPI at baseline. During follow-up, 384 bleeding events were occurred, and incidence of bleeding events were significantly lower in patients with PPI compared with those without PPI (p=0.03). Among combination therapy with rivaroxaban plus antiplatelet, effect of PPI for cumulative incidence of bleeding events were significantly different between groups (p=0.01), however, these differences were not shown among rivaroxaban monotherapy patients (p=0.50, Figure 1). Multivariate Cox hazard analysis showed that PPI use had significantly lower risk of bleeding events (hazard risk 0.79, 95% confidence interval 0.64–0.97, p=0.03). In addition to PPI, male, heart failure and combination therapy with rivaroxaban plus antiplatelet drug were independent predictors of bleeding events. Conclusions PPI use was significantly associated with lower risk of bleeding events among patients with AF and stable coronary artery disease. Especially, for patients at high bleeding risk, such as receiving both anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs, PPI is useful to reduce bleeding events. In future cities, micrometeorological predictions will be essential to various services such as drone operations. However, the real-time prediction is difficult even by using a super-computer. To reduce the computation cost, super-resolution (SR) techniques can be utilized, which infer high-resolution images from low-resolution ones. The present paper confirms the validity of three-dimensional (3D) SR for micrometeorology prediction in an urban city. A new neural network is proposed to simultaneously super-resolve 3D temperature and velocity fields. The network is trained using the micrometeorology simulations that incorporate the buildings and 3D radiative transfer. The error of the 3D SR is sufficiently small: 0.14 K for temperature and 0.38 m s-1for velocity. The computation time of the 3D SR is negligible, implying the feasibility of real-time predictions for the urban micrometeorology.

In AlxCoCrFeNi high entropy alloys (x = 0.3–0.5), the NiAl phase with the B2 structure is precipitated rapidly along the fcc grain boundaries. During recrystallization after conventional cold rolling, the NiAl precipitates effectively suppress the grain growth, which results in the ultrafine-grained microstructure. It should be noted that no severe plastic deformation is necessary to obtain the microstructure. The volume fraction of the NiAl precipitates increases with increasing x. As a result, the average grain size of the fcc matrix (dm) after the recrystallization decreases with increasing x, and therefore, a minimum dm of 0.5 μm can be obtained at x = 0.5. The grain refinement by the NiAl precipitates is consistent with the Zener-Smith model. At x = 0.5, the alloy with dm = 0.5 μm exhibits a yield stress of 1163 MPa and an elongation of 24% at room temperature.

Deformation behavior of Ti–12Mo alloy which is primarily deformed by {332} deformation twinning was studied by in situ neutron diffraction measurements and deformation structure analyses, focusing on the formation of stress-induced α” martensite phase. We directly observed for the first time that the α” phase was formed at the initial stage of the plastic deformation and the volume fraction of the phase increased with increasing plastic deformation. This stress-induced α” martensite phase acts as a nucleation site for the {332} twins. Further increase in stress results in a replacement of the α” phase by the {332} twins.

Background It is still uncertain that lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] concentration could be a residual risk for cardiovascular events among patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Purpose The aim of the present study is to evaluate the impact of Lp(a) on long-term cardiovascular outcomes in patients with ACS treated with statins. Methods We studied 1758 consecutive ACS patients who underwent emergency percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). We finally enrolled 1131 patients who had data of Lp(a) and were treated with statin. They were divided into two groups according to Lp(a) levels (15.0mg/dL). Primary endpoint was major adverse cardiac events (MACE), composite of all-cause death and myocardial infarction. Results The cumulative incidence of MACE was significantly higher in the high Lp(a) group than in the low Lp(a) group. After adjustment for other risk factors, the high Lp(a) group had a significantly higher risk of MACE compared with the low Lp(a) group (HR 1.59, 95% CI 1.01–2.48, p=0.04). Multivariate Cox hazard analysis also showed that increasing Lp(a) was associated with worse clinical outcomes (HR 1.33 per log Lp(a) 1 increase, 95% CI 1.05–1.69, p=0.02). Conclusions Elevated levels of Lp(a) is significantly associated with long-term cardiovascular outcomes among ACS patients treated with statin. Funding Acknowledgement Type of funding sources: None.

The tetraneutron has attracted the attention of nuclear physicists during the past decades, but there is still no unambiguous confirmation of its existence or non-existence. A new experiment based on $$^{8}$$ He(p, 2p) $$^{7}$$ H{t+ $$^{4}n$$ } reaction, with direct detection of the four neutrons, has been carried out at RIBF, which can hopefully help to draw a definite conclusion on the tetraneutron system.

A new High-Temperature Superconducting ECR (HTS-ECR) ion source is under development in Research Center for Nuclear Physics (RCNP), Osaka University. This ion source will be used for production of high intensity proton, deuteron and He ion beams. The HTS-ECR magnets are composed of three solenoid coils and a set of sextupole coils made of REBCO tapes, a high-temperature superconductor. The HTS-ECR ion source is designed to operate at frequency of 2.45 GHz and 10 GHz. Performance test of the HTS coils had been carried out at 31 K and 77 K. This HTS coil technology will be applied to development of a meter-size HTS coil system of a high intensity compact AVF cyclotron. This paper introduces the basic design of the HTS-ECR ion source. The performance test results showed that REBCO solenoids remain superconducting state with a current up to 400 A. Simulation results of the magnetic field and electromagnetic field distributions in a plasma chamber fulfilled the requirements of electron cyclotron resonance conditions at 2.45 GHz and 10 GHz. Simulation result of mirror ratios and electromagnetic field amplitudes are also presented in this paper.

Various factors influence each other in an ion source. Therefore, when operating an ion source, it is necessary to optimize and adjust various parameters. This time, we performed an experiment to automize adjustment that maximizes the brightness of the beam using machine learning. By automatically adjusting 4 parameters, we succeeded in finding a point with a beam brightness of 4.32 × 10-6 mA/(imm mrad)2 in 25 steps. This shows that automatic adjustment using Bayesian optimization is feasible.

In this paper, we demonstrate state of the art 5nm technology (5LPE) having co-optimization process for Dual CPP (Critical Poly-Pitch) technology to maximize Product Power-Performance-Area by separating both high speed and low power blocks. As a result, 5LPE successfully has 10% speed gain or 20% power gain and 0.75x logic area over our previous 7nm technology [1] with more advanced FinFET technology having EUV process and design optimization.

OBJECTIVE Lips can easily become dry and rough, one reason being the characteristics of their ceramide (CER) profile. Lips have lower levels of total ceramides, higher percentages of CER[NS] and CER[AS], and lower percentages of CER[NP] and CER[NH] than skin in other regions of the body. The purpose of this study was to clarify the effects of synthetic pseudo‐ceramide (pCer; Cetyl‐PG hydroxyethyl palmitamide) to improve the dryness and roughness of the lips of healthy subjects in a formulation that exclude an occlusive effect. METHODS Thirty‐one Japanese female subjects with normal skin (age range 21–37 years; mean 28.6) were enrolled in this study. A four‐week continuous use test was conducted using samples with or without 0.5% or 2.0% pCer. The degree of lip roughness was scored, and values of capacitance, transepidermal water loss (TEWL) and lip surface elasticity were measured. Endogenous CER profiles and absorption levels of pCer in the stratum corneum (SC) were analysed in tape‐stripped skin specimens. RESULTS Treatment with the pCer‐2.0% sample significantly improved the visual roughness score after 2 and 4 weeks compared to 0 weeks and compared to the Blank. Moreover, an improvement in TEWL was observed after 4 weeks of treatment with the pCer‐2.0% sample. CER[NP] showed a significant increase in pCer‐2.0% treated lips after 4 weeks compared to the Blank. Both pCer‐0.5% and pCer‐2.0% were significantly absorbed after 2 weeks compared with the Blank. CONCLUSION The effect of the synthetic pseudo‐ceramide pCer to improve the roughness of lips was shown excluding the effect of occlusiveness derived from the formulation for the first time. Since the improvement of TEWL and absorption of pCer was observed, we concluded that pCer was first absorbed in rough lip areas, improved the ceramide profile and consequently restored the barrier function., For the first time, the effect of the synthetic pseudo‐ceramide pCer to improve the roughness of the lips was shown excluding the effect of occlusiveness derived from the formulation. pCer was first absorbed in rough lip areas, improved the ceramide profile and consequently restored the barrier function.

Contains fulltext : 225968.pdf (Publisher’s version ) (Closed access) Immunosuppression in IgA nephropathy (IgAN) should be reserved for patients at high-risk of disease progression, which KDIGO guidelines determine based solely on proteinuria 1g or more/day. To investigate if treatment decisions can be more accurately accomplished using individualized risk from the International IgAN Prediction Tool, we simulated allocation of a hypothetical immunosuppression therapy in an international cohort of adults with IgAN. Two decision rules for treatment were applied based on proteinuria of 1g or more/day or predicted risk from the Prediction Tool above a threshold probability. An appropriate decision was defined as immunosuppression allocated to patients experiencing the primary outcome (50% decline in eGFR or ESKD) and withheld otherwise. The net benefit and net reduction in treatment are the proportion of patients appropriately allocated to receive or withhold immunosuppression, adjusted for the harm from inappropriate decisions, calculated for all threshold probabilities from 0-100%. Of 3299 patients followed for 5.1 years, 522 (15.8%) experienced the primary outcome. Treatment allocation based solely on proteinuria of 1g or more/day had a negative net benefit (was harmful) because immunosuppression was increasingly allocated to patients without progressive disease. Compared to using proteinuria, treatment allocation using the Prediction Tool had a larger net benefit up to 23.4% (95% confidence interval 21.5-25.2%) and a larger net reduction in treatment up to 35.1% (32.3-37.8%). Thus, allocation of immunosuppression to high-risk patients with IgAN can be substantially improved using the Prediction Tool compared to using proteinuria.

In the present study, effects of heat treatment on microstructures and tensile properties of the cylindrical bars of Ti-48Al-2Cr-2Nb (at.%) alloy with unique layered microstructure consisting of equiaxed γ grains region (γ band) and duplex-like region fabricated by electron beam melting (EBM) were investigated. We found that it is possible to control width of the γ bands (Wγ) by heat treatments at 1100°C and 1190°C. The Wγ increases with decreasing heat treatment temperature. The bars heat-treated at 1190°C exhibit high elongation of 2.9% at room temperature (RT) with maintaining high strength. The RT elongation increases with increasing the Wγ because of increasing deformable regions. In contrast, the RT elongation of the bars decreases with increasing the Wγ when Wγ is very large. This is because the large γ band leads intergranular fracture. These results indicate that there is appropriate width for the γ band to obtain excellent tensile properties at RT.

In this study, to clarify the effects of Mo addition on deformation behavior of Ti-Mn alloys, the mechanical properties and the deformation structures of the alloys were investigated using Ti-Mn and Ti-Mn-Mo alloys polycrystals and single crystals. We found that the elongation of Ti-Mn alloys are improved from approximately 5% to 30% by Mo addition, with maintaining ultimate tensile strength of 900 MPa. The excellent strength-ductility balance of Ti-Mn-Mo alloys is caused by {332} twinning, which is unique twinning for metastable β-type titanium alloys. Additionally, the deformation behavior of Ti-Mn and Ti-Mn-Mo alloys was investigated in detail by using single crystals focusing on a critical resolved shear stress (CRSS). As a result, we found for the first time that CRSS for {332} twinning in Ti-Mn-Mo alloy was lower than that in Ti-Mn alloy. Moreover, in Ti-Mn-Mo alloy, CRSS for {332} twinning was lower than that for {112} slip. These results suggest that CRSS for {332} twinning in Ti-Mn alloys is decreased by Mo addition.

Ni-Cr binary alloys containing high amount of Cr demonstrate gamma/alpha-Cr lamellar structure by discontinuous precipitation (DP) reaction from grain boundary. The mechanism of DP reaction is caused by supersaturated Cr in the gamma phase. Supersaturated Cr concentration influences the driving force for the DP reaction and the lamellar spacing. Moreover, the Ni-based alloys with high Cr, containing Al, significantly increase the hardness and strength due to the very narrow lamellar structure. Al addition brings on Ni consumption in the matrix by precipitation of the gamma prime phase. Therefore, Cr supersaturates dramatically in the matrix. The wrought Ni-Cr-Al alloy, Ni-38Cr-3.8Al (mass%) , reaches extremely high tensile strength, which is over 2 GPa, after annealing treatment. Even though chemical composition of Ni-38Cr-3.8Al is simple, the microstructure is complex because it consists of the gamma/alpha Cr lamellar structure with the fine gamma prime particles. Therefore, in this study, we investigated the influence of Cr concentration on the cellular precipitation behaviour. In order to understand the influence of Cr concentration, Ni-34, 36 and 38Cr-3.8Al alloys were prepared. Forged bars were subjected to solution treatment in the gamma single phase region. Subsequently, the alloys were aged from 873K to 1073 K for various times. The cellular precipitation reaction is suppressed by a decrease in Cr concentration, particularly at low temperature annealing treatment condition. The hardness is low in lower Cr concentration alloys in all range of annealing treatment temperature. These results indicate that Cr concentration remarkably affects the driving force for the DP reaction.

Fe-20Al-5Ti (at.%) single crystals composed of the bcc Fe-Al matrix and the Fe2AlTi precipitates with the L21 structure was examined. In the single crystals furnace-cooled (FC) from 1373 K to room temperature, coarse Fe2AlTi phase about 300 nm in diameter were precipitated in the bcc matrix. A misfit strain and a dissolution temperature of the L21 precipitates are +0.59% and 1151 K, respectively. The single crystals exhibited high yield stress above 600 MPa up to 973 K while further increase in temperature resulted in a decrease in yield stress due to the dissolution of the precipitates. In the FC crystals, 1/2 dislocations in the bcc matrix bypassed the coarse L21 precipitates due to their large misfit strain, resulting in high strength. In contrast, the fine L21 precipitates about 30 nm in diameter were observed in the crystals after solutionization and annealing at 873 K. The crystals with the fine L21 precipitates demonstrated high yield stress above 1100 MPa at and below 773 K. Uncoupled or paired 1/2 dislocations cut the fine L21 precipitates, leaving an anti-phase boundary (APB) inside the precipitates. The APB inside the precipitates was considered to be responsible for strong precipitation hardening.

The effect of a unique layered microstructure consisting of duplex-like region and equiaxed γ grains (γ bands) on the fatigue properties of Ti-48Al-2Cr-2Nb alloy bars fabricated by electron beam melting (EBM) at an angle (θ) of 90° between the building direction and cylinder (loading) axis was investigated focusing on the layered microstructure and test temperature. We found the room temperature (RT) fatigue strength of the alloy bars fabricated at θ = 90° is higher than that of the bars fabricated at θ = 0°. Moreover, it is comparable to that of the cast alloys with hot isostatic pressing (HIP) treatment in low-cycle fatigue life region, even without HIP treatment. The high fatigue strength of the bars at RT is attributed to the γ band, which acts as a resistance for crack propagation directed perpendicular to the γ band. On the other hand, the fatigue strength of the bars at θ = 90° is lower than that of the bars at θ = 0° in low-cycle fatigue life region at 1023 K. This is because the γ bands dose not act as a resistance for crack propagation at 1023 K. Although the bars at θ = 90° exhibits low fatigue strength in the region at 1023 K, that value is comparable to that of HIP-treated cast alloys due to the fine grain size, which is one of the features for the alloys fabricated by the EBM.

Grain refinement of non-equiatomic Cr-rich CoCrFeMnNi high-entropy alloys with an fcc structure was studied focusing on the precipitation of a Cr-rich σ phase along grain boundaries and shear bands. We found for the first time that the σ phase can be precipitated at the grain boundaries and the shear bands in the alloys at a significantly fast precipitation rate. The σ phase effectively suppressed the grain growth of the fcc matrix during recrystallization of the alloy after conventional cold rolling, resulting in a fine-grained microstructure with a mean diameter of approximately 1 µm. The alloys with this fine microstructure containing the σ phase exhibit high strength over a wide temperature range due to grain boundary strengthening and precipitation strengthening caused by the σ phase. Moreover, the alloys exhibit large ductility not only at room and high temperatures, but also at low temperatures. Deformation-induced twinning plays an important role in this ductility.

In order to improve the room and high temperature strength–ductility balance of ferritic Fe-Al-Ni based alloys strengthened by the B2-type NiAl precipitates, Fe-Al-Ni-Cr-Mo alloys was developed. The microstructures and tensile properties of the alloys were examined focusing on Mo content. We found that the 2 at% or 4 at% Mo addition is effective in the improvement of the elongation of the Fe-Al-Ni based alloys at room temperature (RT) while maintaining high strength, which reflects the suppression of intergranular fracture by the strengthening of the bcc matrix by Mo addition. We also found that the RT tensile properties and deformation behavior of the alloys depend strongly on the volume fraction and the size of the NiAl precipitates. For instance, the yield stress decreases by the change in the primary slip direction from to and the formation of the Orowan loops with increasing the volume fraction and the mean diameter of the NiAl precipitates. In addition, the alloy with the appropriate Mo content exhibits a high yield stress above 660 MPa up to 923 K, owing to the solid-solution hardening by Mo addition and the low growth rate of the NiAl precipitates even at high temperatures. These findings indicate that the alloys have a great potential for steam turbines of advanced ultra‐supercritical thermal power plants.

The 34 ka Sounkyo eruption produced 7.6 km3 of tephra (~5 km3 DRE) as fallout, ignimbrite, and lithic breccia units, forming a small, 2-km-diameter summit caldera in the Taisetsu volcano group, Japan. The Sounkyo eruption products are made up of five eruptive units (SK-A to -E) in proximal regions, corresponding to the distal deposits, a 1- to 2-m-thick pumice fallout and the Px-type ignimbrite up to 220 m thick. The eruption began with a fallout phase, producing unstable low eruption columns during the earlier phase to form a 27-m-thick, unstratified and ungraded, coarse lithic breccia (SK-C). The failure in turn choked the conduit, and then the eruption stopped. After a short eruptive hiatus, the eruption resumed with a short-lived fall phase, establishing an eruption column up to 16 km high and producing a

Au–CeO2 catalysts are prepared from amorphous Ce–Al alloys by the dealloying method, and their catalytic performances are examined in the oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde using O2 as an oxidant. The catalytic activity of the Au–CeO2 catalysts is improved using an amorphous alloy as a precursor, and further improved activity is attained by directly alloying Au with Ce–Al rather than by depositing Au on preformed CeO2. Consequently, Au–CeO2 prepared directly from an amorphous Au–Ce–Al alloy exhibits the highest activity among the prepared samples, despite its low surface area. Detailed characterization by means of XPS analysis indicates that most of the Au species in Au–CeO2 prepared from the amorphous Au–Ce–Al alloy exist in a +1 oxidation state (Au+). The presence of Au+ facilitates the migration of oxygen atoms through the lattice, which likely contributes to the high catalytic activity of the Au–CeO2 catalyst.
