Purpose: Arts therapies (ATs) for the treatment of autism spectrum disorders (ASD) has attracted widespread attention from scholars. However, resources, technical, and ethical issues still pose significant obstacles to current research. A collaborative design approach is needed to guide the intervention treatment process involving multiple stakeholders. Therefore, this study focuses on exploring the current status, development and potential value of the collaborative arts therapies (CATs), providing a comprehensive perspective for subsequent research. Methods: The Web of Science, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Cochrane Library were searched for publications up to August 30, 2023, related to the use of CATs for the treatment of ASD. CiteSpace was used to build a knowledge graph to achieve visual analysis of current research countries, institutions, journals, authors, and hot topics. Results: A total of 845 articles met the inclusion criteria. In terms of quantity, the USA is the leading country which has the greatest influence in advancing the field. The University of Haifa is the most productive institution. Arteterapia Papeles De Arteterapia Y Educacion Artistica and Frontiers in Psychology occupy key publishing positions. The most central keywords were related to the quality of life of people with ASD. “family”, “social robot” and “participation” are emerging topics in the research field. The positive impact of the combination of caregivers, technology and artistic media on enhancing connections between people with ASD and their everyday environment is the focus of current research. Conclusions: Research on CATs as an adjunctive therapy for the treatment of ASD is evolving. Providing comprehensive rehabilitation and support intervention for patients with ASD is a key research direction. The research process requires more interdisciplinary resources and technical assistance. Collaboration will be the best way to improve the effectiveness of ATs.

In the field of graphic design, the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping the design process. This study employs the Critical Interpretive Synthesis (CIS) approach to explore the impacts and challenges of AI on graphic design. Through a comprehensive review of 33 papers, this research reveals four research paradigms of AI in graphic design: Artificial Intelligence Driven Design Automation and Generation (AIDAG), Artificial Intelligence Assisted Graphic Design and Image Processing (AGDIP), Artificial Intelligence in Art and Creative Design Processes (AACDP), and Artificial Intelligence Enhanced Visual Attention and Emotional Response Modeling (AVERM). These paradigms demonstrate the multidimensional role of AI in design, ranging from automation to emotional interaction. The findings suggest that AI serves a dual role as both a design tool and a medium for innovation. AI not only enhances the automation and efficiency of the design process but also fosters designers' creative thinking and understanding of users' emotional needs. This study also proposes a path for the application of the four paradigms in the graphic design process, providing effective design ideas for future design workflows.

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related mortality globally, with environmental pollutants identified as significant risk factors, especially for nonsmokers. The intersection of these pollutants with epigenetic mechanisms has emerged as a critical area of interest for understanding the etiology and progression of lung cancer. Epigenetic changes, including DNA methylation, histone modifications, and non-coding RNAs, can induce alterations in gene expression without affecting the DNA sequence and are influenced by environmental factors, contributing to the transformation of normal cells into malignant cells. This review assessed the literature on the influence of environmental pollutants on lung cancer epigenetics. A comprehensive search across databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and Embase yielded 3,254 publications, with 22 high-quality papers included for in-depth analysis. These studies demonstrated the role of epigenetic markers, such as DNA methylation patterns of genes like F2RL3 and AHRR and alterations in the miRNA expression profiles, as potential biomarkers for lung cancer diagnosis and treatment. The review highlights the need to expand research beyond homogenous adult male groups typically found in high-risk occupational environments to broader population demographics. Such diversification can reduce biases and enhance the relevance of findings to various clinical contexts, fostering the development of personalized preventive and therapeutic measures. In conclusion, our findings underscore the potential of innovative epigenetic therapies, such as DNA demethylating drugs and histone modification agents, to counter environmental toxins’ carcinogenic effects. The growing interest in miRNA therapies and studies aiming to correct aberrant methylation patterns indicate significant strides toward better lung cancer management and a healthier future for global communities.

This study summarizes the significance of microRNA-134 (miRNA-134) in the pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of depression, a disease still under investigation due to its complexity. miRNA-134 is an endogenous short non-coding RNA that can bind to the 3′ untranslated region (3′UTR) of miRNA-134, inhibiting gene translation and showing great potential in the regulation of mood, synaptic plasticity, and neuronal function. This study included 15 articles retrieved from four English-language databases: PubMed, Embase, The Cochrane Library, and Web of Science, and three Chinese literature databases: CNKI, Wanfang, and Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Database (VIP).We evaluated each of the 15 articles using the Critical Appraisal Skills Program (CASP) tool.The standard integrates analyzes of genomic, transcriptomic, neuroimaging, and behavioral data analyses related to miRNA-134 and depression. A multidimensional framework based on standardized criteria was used for quality assessment. The main findings indicate that miRNA-134 significantly affects synaptic plasticity and neurotransmitter regulation, in particular the synthesis and release of serotonin and dopamine. miRNA-134 shows high sensitivity and specificity as a biomarker for the diagnosis of depression and has therapeutic potential for the targeted treatment of depression. miRNA-134 plays a crucial role in the pathogenesis of depression, providing valuable insights for early diagnosis and the development of targeted therapeutic strategies. This work highlights the potential of miRNA-134 as a focal point for advancing personalized medicine approaches for depression.

Background and purpose: Parkinson's disease (PD) causes a decline in motor function, cognitive decline, and impacts the mental health of patients. Due to the high cost and side effects of conventional treatments, the medical community has begun to explore safer and more cost-effective alternative therapies. In this context, arts therapies have gained increasing attention as innovative treatments. This review plans to explore the role and potential of various arts therapies in the rehabilitation of PD patients by analyzing existing literature and case studies. Methods: This review comprehensively searched the literature in several databases, including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure, to assess the effectiveness of different arts therapies in the rehabilitation of patients with PD. Results: From 3440 articles screened, 16 met the inclusion criteria. These studies included a variety of therapies, including music, meditation, yoga, art, dance, theatre, video games and play therapy. These different types of arts therapies had a positive impact on the motor, psychological and cognitive rehabilitation of PD patients, respectively. Conclusion: The existing literature highlights the great potential of arts therapies in the rehabilitation of people with PD, further confirming the efficacy of arts therapies in enhancing the motor, psychological and cognitive rehabilitation process of people with PD. In addition, this review identifies research gaps in the use of color therapy in PD rehabilitation and highlights the need for further exploration of various arts therapies modalities.

Introduction Schizophrenia, a chronic mental problem, significantly impacts cognition, emotion and social functioning. Conventional pharmacotherapy faces challenges including numerous side effects, low adherence to medication and substantial costs. In this context, group arts therapies (GATs) emerge as a promising complementary approach for symptom alleviation in schizophrenia patients. Nonetheless, the effectiveness and safety of GATs are yet to be firmly established. This study aims to systematically assess the therapeutic impact of all group-based artistic interventions as complementary treatments for schizophrenia, focusing on their potential benefits.Methods and analysis This study will search four English-language databases (PubMed, Web of Science, Cochrane Library and Embase), two Chinese databases (Wanfang Data and China National Knowledge Infrastructure) and three Korean databases (RISS, Korean Citation Index and DBpia) from their inception until October 2023. It will include all randomised controlled trials that compare GATs for schizophrenia with standard rehabilitation methods. The primary outcome is the improvement in patients’ positive and negative symptoms. IntroductionArts therapies offer effective non-pharmacological intervention for Sleep Initiation and Maintenance Disorders (SIMDs), encompassing both passive and active modalities. This review assesses their effectiveness and ethical considerations, focusing on music therapy, meditation, and Tai Chi.MethodsFollowing PRISMA guidelines, a detailed search across PubMed, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and CNKI identified 17 relevant RCTs. Utilizing the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) quality criteria and the PICO(S) framework for data extraction ensured methodological integrity.ResultsAnalysis shows arts therapies significantly improve sleep quality. Music therapy and meditation yield immediate benefits, while Tai Chi and Qigong require longer commitment for significant outcomes. DiscussionThe link between SIMDs and mental health issues like anxiety, stress, and depression suggests arts therapies not only enhance sleep quality but also address underlying mental health conditions. Background and objectiveThe COVID-19 global pandemic has necessitated the urgency for innovative mental health interventions. We performed a comprehensive review of the available literature on the utility and efficacy of arts therapies in treating mental health problems, with special emphasis on their deployment during the COVID-19 pandemic, aiming to provide some evidence for the application of this therapy.MethodsThe potential studies were systematically sourced from five authoritative databases: PubMed, Embase, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, and the CNKI database. The evaluation of these studies was conducted based on stringent criteria, including validity, suitability, therapeutic potential, and consistency. Each piece of included literature was meticulously scored in accordance with these criteria, thus ensuring the inclusion of only the most robust studies in this review. The data from these Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) were carefully extracted using the PICO(S) framework, ensuring a comprehensive and systemic approach to data collection. In order to emphasize the variability in the effects of differing arts therapies on COVID-19-induced psychiatric disturbances, the sourced literature was systematically categorized and scrutinized based on distinct modalities.ResultsOut of the 7,250 sourced articles, 16 satisfied the inclusion conditions. The therapies were predominantly meditation (n = 7), supplemented by individual studies on color therapy (n = 3), music therapy (n = 2), and single studies on horticultural therapy, dance therapy, mindfulness and music therapy, and yoga and music therapy (n = 4 collectively). These various forms of arts therapies had a positive short to medium-term impact on the mental health of COVID-19 patients. Besides improving patients' physical and mental health, these therapies can also be employed to mitigate mental health issues among healthcare professionals.ConclusionThe COVID-19 pandemic has profound and long-lasting implications for public mental health. Diverse forms of arts therapies are potentially effective in addressing related psychiatric symptoms. The integration of artificial intelligence might further enhance the efficacy and scalability of arts therapies in future implementations.
