As a strong climate element on interannual scales, the El Nino-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) is a major component of global weather and climate change, and it is also closely related to the interannual atmospheric angular momentum (AAM) and length-of-day changes (ΔLOD). Here, we reprocess and compare the interannual variations of AAM, ΔLOD with ENSO indices, with AAM mass and motion terms calculated over land separately from those over the ocean. Three oscillatory components (at ~ 6, ~ 7, ~ 8 years), due to angular momentum changes in Earth's interior, are removed to obtain the interannual ΔLOD solely related to climatic variations. Our results show that the AAM motion term over the ocean contributes the most to interannual ΔLOD, and that the oceanic AAM has larger variability than that over land, especially during the periods of strong ENSO events. After subtracting contributions associated with interior processes, the interannual ΔLOD anomalies corresponding to extreme ENSO events (1982–1983 ~ 0.43, 1997–1998 ~ 0.36, 2015–2016 ~ 0.42 ms) are about half as strong as those found in previous studies (~ 0.91, ~ 0.76, ~ 0.81 ms). Furthermore, we detect an intermediate La Nina event that occurred from August 2020 to May 2021, forcing the interannual ΔLOD to a minimum value of approximately -0.21 ms.

The intradecadal variations in length-of-day (LOD) and their time-varying characteristics still need to be further studied. Given that the corresponding signal periods on the intradecadal scales are quite close to each other and the span of currently observed ΔLOD data (i.e., 1962–2019, only 57 years) is not long enough, accurate detection of these signals depends on using effective mathematical method. On the basis of the traditional harmonic retrieval model, this work proposes a frequency domain stepwise regression method, which can well identify the periodic components with close periods and recognize the weaker signals to estimate the relevant harmonic parameters (i.e., amplitude, frequency and phase). Furthermore, we apply this method to detection of the actual LOD intradecadal variations, the result of which shows that there are three components (i.e., the ~ 5.9 years, ~ 8.3 years and ~ 7.3 years) existing in LOD intradecadal variations. Here, we firstly give the time-domain harmonic expression of the ~ 7.3 years signal, i.e., $$y\left(t\right)=A\mathrm{cos}\left(\frac{2\pi }{T}\left(t-1962+\psi \right)\right)$$ y t = A cos 2 π T t - 1962 + ψ , where the period $$T=7.33$$ T = 7.33 years, amplitude $$A=0.0413(\pm 0.0099)$$ A = 0.0413 ( ± 0.0099 ) ms, phase $$\psi =-1.58(\pm 0.30)$$ ψ = - 1.58 ( ± 0.30 ) years. The mechanism of this ~ 7.3 years signal needs to be further studied.

A significant 6-year oscillation (SYO) signal existing in the length-of-day (LOD) variations may reflect the fast dynamics of the Earth cores. The time-varying characteristic (TVC) of this signal may reveal the relevant details on the geophysical excitation process. However, it is still debate about the TVC of the SYO. Our previous works indicated that the SYO signal was showing an obviously decaying trend during 1962~2012 based on the normal Morlet wavelet transform (NMWT) method, while other works did not show the similar decaying result based on the other methods (e.g., the least square fitting- LSF). Here, in order to solve this controversial issue, we revisit the SYO and its TVC. Through a lot of numerical simulation tests, NMWT method is further confirmed to be a good approach to quantitatively recover the target damped harmonic signals from the complex background noises, but the classical LSF method can destroy the original harmonic signal. This work indicates that the unattenuated SYO result obtained by the LSF method is not reliable. In addition, this work further analyzes the LOD data during a longer span (i.e., 1840~2018) and extracts the SYO result in the time domain, the result of which shows: 1) the amplitude modulation phenomenon of the SYO itself on the longer time span, revealing the relevant excitation information within the Earth system; 2) a decreasing trend of the SYO signal in its amplitude after 1960s, which further supports the current SYO decaying result during 1962~2019. This recovered SYO result during a longer time-span obtained by this work is significant to understand the nature of the SYO change and its excitation process.

We report the preparation and application of a 1-methyl-3-propylimidazolium sulfide-based ionic liquid electrolyte for quantum-dot-sensitized solar cells. By optimizing the concentrations of S and Na2S, a considerable conductivity of 12.96 mS.cm(-1) is achieved at 25 degrees C. Differential scanning calorimetry indicates that the glass transition temperature of the electrolyte is -85 degrees C. The quantum-dot-sensitized solar cell assembled with this ionic liquid electrolyte displays a high energy conversion efficiency (eta) of 3.03% at 25 C, which is comparable to the efficiency of quantum-dot-sensitized solar cells using a water-based polysulfide electrolyte (q = 3.34%). Due to the favorable thermal properties of this ionic liquid electrolyte (lower glass transition temperature and nonvolatility at higher temperatures), the quantum-dot-sensitized solar cell maintains satisfactory eta even at -20 degrees C (eta = 2.32%) and 80 degrees C (eta = 1.90%), which is superior to the cell using the water based polysulfide electrolyte.

With the problem of magnetic anomaly signal in low SNR, we using empirical mode decomposition (EMD) algorithm and Savitzky-Golay filter to solve weak magnetic anomaly signal in noisy environment detection problem. With the EMD, the weak magnetic anomaly signal can be decomposed into different numbers of sub-signals called intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). The IMFs include signals different frequency component from high to low. Recover the signal with IMFs which correlation coefficient is low with noise signal and smooth the signal with Savitzky-Golay filter. The proposed method is verified by simulation on computer. The present experimental results show that this method is effective to detect the weak magnetic anomaly and recover the original signal.

In this paper, we propose a new method using teager energy operator and entropy to solve endpoint detection problem in noisy environment. With the teager energy operator, it is sensitive on AM and FM signal and noise suppression capability on noisy speech signal, calculate teager energy of noisy speech signal. According to the different teager energy probability distribution between noise and speech signal, teager energy entropy is different. Set two soft thresholds of four states to detect the endpoint of noisy speech signal. The simulation shows that the method has good effect of endpoint detection in low SNR conditions, the simulation results show that teager energy entropy of speech signal endpoint detection in noisy environments is feasible and effective, and improves the reliability of endpoint detection.

The angle between planetary spin and the normal direction of an orbital plane is supposed to reveal a range of information about the associated planetary formation and evolution. Since the orbit’s eccentricity and inclination oscillate periodically in a hierarchical triple body and tidal friction makes the spin parallel to the normal orientation of the orbital plane with a short timescale in an isolated binary system, we focus on the comprehensive effect of third body perturbation and tidal mechanism on the angle. Firstly, we extend the Hut tidal model (1981) to the general spatial case, adopting the equilibrium tide and weak friction hypothesis with constant delay time, which is suitable for arbitrary eccentricity and any angle ϑ between the planetary spin and normal orientation of the orbital plane. Furthermore, under the constraint of angular momentumconservation, the equations of orbital and ratational motion are given. Secondly, considering the coupled effects of tidal dissipation and third body perturbation, and adopting the quadrupole approximation as the third body perturbation effect, a comprehensivemodel is established by this work. Finally, we find that the ultimate evolution depends on the timescales of the third body and tidal friction. When the timescale of the third body is much shorter than that of tidal friction, the angle ϑ will oscillate for a long time, even over the whole evolution; when the timescale of the third body is observably larger than that of the tidal friction, the system may enter stable states, with the angle ϑ decaying to zero ultimately, and some cases may have a stable inclination beyond the critical value of Lidov-Kozai resonance. In addition, these dynamical evolutions depend on the initial values of the orbital elements and may aid in understanding the characteristics of the orbits of exoplanets.

To examine the protective effects of wasp (Vespa magnifica) honeycomb extract (WCE) against gastric lesions in rats induced by 60% acidified ethanol, and evaluate its capacity to suppress oxidative stress in the gastric tissue.Wistar rats were subjected to intragastric administration of 60% acidified ethanol to induce gastric lesions following an 8-day oral pretreatment with WCE at 0, 25, 100 and 150 mg/kg or with saline. The levels of 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging, myeloperoxidase (MPO) activity and total antioxidant capacity in the gastric tissues were determined.Oral administration of 25, 100 and 150 mg/kg WCE prior to 60% acidified ethanol administration significantly inhibited the formation of gastric lesions (with a reduction by 44.2%-87.1%), decreased the mucosal MPO activity (by 16.4%-56.6%) and increased the total antioxidant capacity of the gastric tissue (by 0.5, 1.47 and 1.83 folds, respectively) in a dose-dependent manner. At a high concentration (above 1 mg/ml), WCE also exhibited a stronger DPPH radical scavenging activity than butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT).The ethanol extract of wasp honeycombs can suppress the formation of acidified ethanol-induced gastric lesions by reducing free radical oxidation and neutrophils infiltration in the gastric tissue in rats.

To assess the diagnostic value of multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA) for detection of common chromosome aneuploidy in amniotic fluid (AF) cells in order to obtain an accurate, rapid, cost-effective and high-throughput method in routine prenatal clinical practice.The MLPA test was performed on 500 AF samples by using kit P095 and the results were obtained by using analysis software RH-MLPA-v511. The results were compared with that from fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and traditional karyotyping (TK). The technical critical issues were analyzed in routine diagnostic application.The absolute specificity and sensitivity of the MLPA test to detect the aneuploidy were 100%. For the 500 AF samples, the success rate of the MLPA tests was 97%. Among them 92% were finished within three working days and 5% required more days for repeating. The test failure rate was 3%. The results confirmed that for the 38 detectable aneuploid samples, the probe reliability weighted mean ratio values were more than 4SD compared to normal diploids and the 2 suspected trisomy samples were more than 2SD. In this study, authors analyzed hybridization efficiencies of 8 probes for chromosome 21, and the presence of a trisomy was considered if at least 4 of the 8 probes gave probe ratio of1.3.Thedata suggested that MLPA is a rapid, simple and reliable method for large scale testing for aneuploidy of chromosomes 13, 18, 21, X, or Y in AF. The MLPA technology is complementary to AF culture and valuable for prenatal diagnosis.

To investigate the effect of target therapy with cisplatin (CDDP)-loaded magnetic nanoparticles (MNP) in combination with chemoradiotherapy against nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell growth in nude mice.Thirty-six BALB/c mice with implanted tumor of CNE-2 cells were randomly divided into 6 groups (n=6), including the control group, radiotherapy group, CDDP group, CDDP plus radiotherapy group, CDDP-MNP group, and CDDP-MNP plus radiotherapy group. The mice were given 0.3 ml normal saline (control) or corresponding agents (3 mg/kg) via the tail vein, and 0.5 ml saline was administered intragastrically before the injections. Before and after the treatment, the body weight, tumor volume and weight, and the tumor inhibition rates were measured. The proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) index was calculated on the basis of immunohistochemical staining.Except for the cisplatin group, all the treated groups showed significantly reduced tumor volume as compared with that in the control group (P0.05) with lowered body weight. Compared with the cisplatin group, the combined treatment groups showed significantly higher tumor inhibition rate (P0.05), but the effect showed no significant difference from that in the radiotherapy group (P0.05).Targeted therapy with CDDP-loaded MNP alone or in combination with radiotherapy can effectively inhibit the growth of nasopharyngeal carcinoma in nude mice without increasing the toxicity.

To explore the risk factors of gastric cancer in the rural area of Henan province.Three hundred and twenty-five families with gastric cancer and 325 control families (1010 persons in each group) were selected among the rural residents in 4 counties of Henan province. Totally 2020 people were surveyed and assessed using population-based case-control family study.Gastric cancer was related to stomach upset, irregular dietary, hobby for salty taste, residual food, and history of mental stimulus.Stomach upset, irregular dietary, hobby for salty taste, residual food, and history of mental stimulus are the risk factors of gastric cancer.

To improve the protection efficiency of the recombinant Marek' s disease viruses (MDV) in chickens with or without maternal antibodies,the work of selecting the optimal promoters for the construction of recombinant MDV was carried out. Combined with the efficient genetic manipulation, the composed promoters was constructed by use of the MDV gB core promoter with the regulatory elements from the early immediately promoter and enhancer of hCMV, the promoter and enhancer of SV40 or the partial enhancer of hCMV. And these composed promoters were ligased to the luciferase to construct the eukaryotic expressing vectors and named PhCMV-gB, Psv-gB and Pen-gB, respectively. In vitro, these vectors and internal standard plasmid (pSV-beta-LacZ) were transiently co-transfected into secondary CEF by FuGene 6 Transfection Reagent. Furthermore, cells were harvested 48 hours after transfection. Then the luciferase activity was detected by a luciferase assay kit, at the same time, the beta-galactosidase enzyme activity was detected by a beta-galactosidase enzyme assay kit, and the luciferase activity was corrected by the beta-galactosidase enzyme activity to get the relative luciferase activity. The relative luciferase activity was used as the transcriptional activity. By comparison of the relative luciferase activity of every promoter, it was found that these composed promoters could more effectively drive the reporter gene expression than the full legth of gB promoter did. Among them, PhCMV-gB robustly drove the reporter gene expression. On the other hand, PSV-gB and Pen-gB appeared to have the same strength; But compared with the commercial strong promoters, the transcriptional activity of the composed promoter were less than as or the same as that of the strong promoters. Therefore, at a sense, it can be proposed that these composed promoters have not only the characteristic of MDV gB promoter, but also that of the commercial strong promoters. These provide the choices for further developing the new-type recombinant MDV vaccine.

There are many E. coli rare codons in the gene of porcine interferon alpha-1. In order to obtain high expression of poIFN-alpha1 in E. coli, the cDNA encoded poIFN-alpha1 mature protein was synthesized using biased codons of E. coli without changing the original amino acid sequence and the terminator was changed as TAA. At the same time, Adenine and Thymine were used to the largest extent near the 5' terminus of poIFN-alpha1 mature protein gene. The synthesized gene was inserted into the Eco RI and Sal I site of the expression vector pRLC resulting pRLC-poIFN-alpha1. The poIFN-alpha1 is highly expressed in E. coli DH5alpha when the induction was carried out at 42 degrees C . The expressed poIFN-alpha1 account for 24.5% of the total cellular proteins and existed as inclusion body. The poIFN-alpha1 inclusion body was dissolved in 6mol/L guanidine chloride contained DTT and subsequently the denatured poIFN-alpha1 was re-natured by dilution in refolding buffer containing GSH and GSSH. In the present study it was found that the denatured poIFN-alpha1 was most efficiently re-natured in refolding buffer containing 1 mol/L guanidine chloride. In order to obtain pure protein, the concentrated re-natured poIFN-alpha1 was purified by Sephacryl S-200 chromatography. As a result, the purified poIFN-alpha1 is verified to be of high cytokine activity by inhibiting the cytopathic effect of vesicular stomatitis virus in MDBK cells, which is about 6.4 x 10(6) u/mg. This study paved the way for large-scale production of recombinant poIFN-alpha1 and its usage in virus disease control of pigs.
