Objective: To reveal the regional division of the spatial structure of NASH fibrosis and the communication relationship between cells in different regions and to analyse specific marker genes as potential therapeutic targets for NASH fibrosis. Methods: The liver sections of healthy controls, NAFL patients and NASH patients were measured by spatial transcriptomics, and integration analysis was performed with single-cell RNA-seq. Differential expression, functional pathway prediction, and deconvolution analysis revealed lineage-specific changes in gene expression, subpopulation composition and intercellular communication in NASH and identified key genes involved in HSC activation. The role of key genes in NASH fibrosis was verified in vitro and in vivo. Result: Descending and clustering analysis of 4114 nuclei from liver tissues of healthy controls, NAFL, and NASH showed that the distribution of cluster5 (fibrotic region) is dominated by lobules, and a small amount of fibrosis can be seen in the sink area. Functional analysis suggested that differentially expressed genes of cluster5 were concentrated in ECM structural components and signalling molecules. Six cell types were obtained by integrating the single-cell sequencing dataset (GSE189175). Compared with the healthy control and NAFL groups, the NASH group had significantly increased proportions of HSCs and myofibroblasts, which were distributed in the lobule and the portal area around the fibrotic area. Simultaneously, the infiltration of Kupffer cells around the fibrotic area also increased. The cell communication analysis showed that diffusive cell communication was the main type, including endocrine, paracrine and autocrine communication, followed by ECM-receptor cell communication. According to the analysis of differentially expressed genes in the subsets, AEBP1 and DPT are relatively highly expressed in cluster5, as well as in HSCs and myofibroblasts. SCENIC analysis found that AEBP1+ and DPT+ myoblasts were involved in the activation of HSCs and fibrosis formation. Immunohistochemistry verified the high expression of AEBP1 and DPT in patients with NASH fibrosis. After transfection of AEBP1 and DPT interference fragments in LX2 cells in vitro, the mRNA level of Collagen Ⅰ in cells was significantly lower than that of the siRNA-NC group and blank control group. Conclusion: Our study is the first to reveal lineage-specific changes in gene expression, subpopulation composition and cell communication in NASH fibrosis, providing new directions for potential therapeutic targets for NASH fibrosis.

Objective To assess the clinical and histological features of metabolic associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) in non-lean population. Methods Current study enrolled consecutive non-lean (Body Mass Index (BMI) > 23 kg/m2) patients with MAFLD and available liver biopsy results. Patients were stratified by BMI into two groups for the comparison of their clinical and histological variables, which included the overweight (BMI 23 ~ 1) were also analysed through the logistic regression model. Results Among 184 non-lean patients with MALFD enrolled, 65 and 119 were overweight and obese, respectively. Patients in the obesity group had a significantly lower level of gamma-Glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT), higher levels of platelet (PLT), Glucose (Glu), prothrombin time (PT), and more common of moderate to severe inflammatory activity when compared to those in the overweight group. However, a significant low frequency of moderate to severe fibrosis was found in the obesity group vs the overweight group (19.33% vs 40.00%, P = 0.002). Multivariate logistic regression analysis of fibrosis found that aspartate transaminase (AST), BMI, alanine transaminase (ALT) and cholesterol (CHOL) were independent predictors for moderate to severe fibrosis in non-lean patients with MAFLD. Compared with the traditional FIB-4 (AUC = 0.77) and APRI (AUC = 0.79) indexes, the combined index based on AST, BMI, ALT and CHOL was more accurated in predicting moderate to severe fibrosis in non-lean patients with MAFLD (AUC = 0.87). Conclusions Clinical and histological features differed between obesity and overweight patients with MAFLD. When compared to the traditional serum markers, the combination index including AST, BMI, ALT and CHOL provides a better model to predictor moderate to severe fibrosis in non-lean patients with MAFLD.

In shallow water, there exist regular interference striations on the structured sound intensity pattern versus frequency and element location of a horizontal array. Beamforming along the striation with frequency-shifted pressure can improve the correlation among array signals, but the beam focusing performance is limited by the source spectrum (e.g. random phase spectrum generated from ship-radiated noise) and signal truncation. In this paper, the cross-correlation phase relationship among the array signals is deduced, and striation-based beamforming with such cross-correlated data can produce a similar directivity to the conventional beamforming, while the effect from signal truncation and source spectrum can be eliminated. This striation-correlation-based beamforming also outputs the signal corresponding to the Green’s function between the source and the reference array element, moreover, recovers the interference structure that characters the channel. The striation-based array signal processing also provides the proposed Greens function estimation method with the ability to work effectively under the condition of low signal-to-noise ratio. Simulation results are presented and performance variations related to signal frequency, signal-to-noise ratio, striation slope estimation error, element number and array aperture are also analyzed numerically.

BackgroundTo demonstrate the efficacy and safety of intravitreal injections of conbercept versus laser photocoagulation in the treatment of diabetic macular oedema (DME).MethodsA 12-month multicentre, randomised, double-masked, double-sham, parallel controlled, phase III trial (Sailing Study), followed by a 12-month open-label extension study. Patients with centre-involved DME were randomly assigned to receive either laser photocoagulation followed by pro re nata (PRN) sham intravitreal injections (laser/sham) or sham laser photocoagulation followed by PRN 0.5 mg conbercept intravitreal injections (sham/conbercept). Patients who entered the extension study received PRN conbercept treatment. The primary endpoint was the changes in best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) from baseline.ResultsA total of 248 eyes were included in the full analysis set and 157 eyes continued in the extension study. Significant improvement in mean change in BCVA from baseline to month 12 was observed in the sham/conbercept group (8.2±9.5 letters), whereas no improvement was observed in the laser/sham group (0.3±12.0 letters). Patients in the laser/sham group showed a marked improvement in BCVA after the switch to conbercept in the extension study, and there was no difference in BCVA between the two groups at the end of the extension study.ConclusionThe use of a conbercept PRN intravitreal injection regimen improved the BCVA of patients with DME, and its efficacy was better than that of laser photocoagulations, and the same efficacy was observed when the eyes treated with laser alone were switched to conbercept.Trial registration numberNCT02194634.

Excavations near an existing tunnel are often encountered in underground construction. The influence of the excavation on the adjacent tunnels is not yet fully understood. This study presented a centrifugal model test about excavation next to existing tunnels in soft soil foundation. The bending moment of diaphragm wall, surface settlement, tunnel deformation, and earth pressure around the tunnel were mainly studied. The influence of tunnel location is further studied by numerical simulation. During the stabilization stage of foundation pit, the diaphragm walls present convex deformation towards foundation pit, and the surface settlement outside the diaphragm wall appears to be the concave groove type. During the overexcavation stage, the diaphragm walls are almost damaged, and the shear bands are nearly tangent to the tunnels. The displacement of the tunnels and the surface settlement rapidly increase. The deformation of the diaphragm wall and the surface settlement are limited by the existing tunnel. The numerical results indicate that the change of tunnel location has little effect on the retaining wall but an obvious effect on the tunnel itself.

SF6decomposition product analysis is one of the most convenient and efficient methods to diagnose the potential faults of SF6insulated electric equipment in the early stage. Based on SF6decomposition characteristic gas analysis, the operation state of SF6insulated power equipment can be judged by on-line monitoring, so as to ensure its normal operation. Raman spectrum analysis technology can realize the nondestructive detection of gas samples with a single wavelength laser. It has excellent applicability and high efficiency for the detection of SF6decomposition characteristic components. In this paper, molecular configurations of CF4, CO, H2S, SO2were obtained by B3LYP functional that based on density functional theory (DFT), and the Raman frequency and intensity characteristics were calculated by 6-31G (2df, p) basis group. The results were compared with National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) standard frequencies and it was found that the optimized configuration has no virtual frequency. The characteristic peaks of CO, CF4, SO2and H2S that were identified by Raman spectrum are respectively 2221.11, 908.97, 1175.24 and 2688.82 cm-1, which are basically consistent with the corresponding NIST standard values. This study not only shows that the Raman spectrum of SF6decomposition products calculated by B3LYP functional function is reliable, but provides a reference for the quantitative detection of SF6decomposition products based on Raman spectrum.

Dam structures are prime targets during wars, and a tragedy is likely to happen in a populated area downstream of a dam exposed to explosions. However, experimental investigations of the failure of a concrete gravity dam subjected to underwater explosion (UNDEX) are extremely scarce. In this study, centrifuge tests and numerical simulations were performed to investigate the failure of a concrete gravity dam subjected to a near-field UNDEX. The results revealed the existence of two tensile fractures inside the dam, one in the upper part and the other in the lower part. Due to the narrowness of the upper part, there were coupled effects of bending tensile loads in the upstream face and a reflected tensile stress wave in the downstream face, resulting in severe tensile damage to the upper part in both the upstream and downstream faces. The fracture in the lower part was measured at around one third of the height of the dam. This fracture was produced mainly by the bending tensile loads in the upstream face. Driven by those loads, this fracture started from the upstream face and developed towards the downstream face, with a horizontal angle of about 15°. The underlying mechanisms behind the two tensile fractures were confirmed by recorded strain histories. The dam failures presented in this study are similar to those produced in historical wars, in which dams were under similar attack scenarios.

Hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) up-regulates the expression of programmed death ligand-1 (PD-L1) in some extracranial malignancies. However, whether it could increase PD-L1 expression in intracranial tumor is still unknown. Here, we explored the relationship between HIF-1α and PD-L1 expression in glioma, and investigated their clinical significance. In glioma patients, HIF-1α and PD-L1 were overexpressed in high grade glioma tissues and were significantly associated with poor survival. In glioma cells, PD-L1 expression was induced under hypoxia condition, and the enhanced PD-L1 expression was abrogated by either HIF-1α knock-down or HIF-1α inhibitor treatment. Furthermore, ChIP-qPCR analysis showed the direct binding of HIF-1α to PD-L1 proximal promoter region, providing evidence that HIF-1α up-regulates PD-L1 in glioma. In glioma murine model, the combination treatment with HIF-1α inhibitor and anti-PD-L1 antibody caused a more pronounced suppressive effect on tumor growth compared to either monotherapy. Immunologically, the combination treatment improved both dendritic cell (DC) and CD8+ T cell activation. Overall, our results demonstrated that positive correlation between PD-L1 and HIF-1α in glioma, and provide an alternative strategy, inhibiting HIF-1α, as combination therapies with immunotherapies to advance glioma treatment. Cranial coronal T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging with contrast enhancement showed a sellar irregular lesion (Figure A). Hematoxylin and eosin staining showed two different morphologies. The majority of tumor cells had medium-sized to large cells with a high nucleus to cytoplasm ratio, vesicular nuclei with prominent nucleoli, and poor adhesion (Figure B), which revealed positive expression of CD20 by Immunohistochemistry (Figure C). The other component showed abundant cytoplasm, spindle-like to ovoid nucleus and rare mitotic figures (Figure D). These tumor cells were positive for Pit-1 (Figure E) and perinuclear punctated structures immunopositive for CK18 (Figure F).

As a model molecule of actinide chemistry, UO molecule plays an important role in understanding the electronic structure and chemical bonding of actinide-containing species. We report a study of the laser-induced fluorescence spectra of the U16O and U18O using two-dimensional spectroscopy. Several rotationally resolved excitation spectra were investigated. Accurate molecular rotational constants and equilibrium internuclear distances were reported. Low-lying electronic states information was extracted from high resolution dispersed fluorescence spectra and analyzed by the ligand field theory model. The configuration of the ground state was determined as U2+(5f37s)O2−. The branching ratios, and the vibrational harmonic and anharmonic parameters were also obtained. Radiative lifetimes were determined by recording the time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy. Transition dipole moments were calculated using the branching ratios and the radiative lifetimes. These findings were elucidated by using quantum-chemical calculations, and the chemical bonding was also analyzed. The findings presented in this work will enrich our understanding of actinide-containing molecules.

The concentrated casing damage occurred in XI area in 2013, and more than 50 new casing damage wells were added annually. The casing damage was mainly in the top oil layers of the reservoir and the oil shale section at the non-oil layer. The large-scale casing loss resulted in nearly half well shutdown in the block, which have affected the production of the block seriously. In order to control the situation of casing damage and timely treatment, in-depth analysis of the causes of casing damage was implemented. Beginning with the mechanism analysis, according to the contrast of mechanical property parameters, the conclusion drawn is that the casing damage mainly occurred in weak lithologic interface, according to the analysis of ground stress model, and pressure difference between blocks was the main causes of casing damage occurred in the non-oil layer, which originated from the channeling of the injected water. Moreover, the casing damage in the reservoir is mainly caused by the interwell pressure difference, which is aroused from the pressure building created by the high water injection intensity, injection without production, channeling and other reasons. Finally, on the basis of cause analysis, casing damage prevention and control strategy was targeted developed. The main measures of preventing reservoir casing from damage are to control water injection strength and injection pressure, improving injection-production relationship or injection suspension, as to the non-oil layer’s prevention, controlling injection pressure, sealing the channel of water uploading and reducing pressure difference between blocks are quite important. The analysis of causes and the formulation of preventive measures provide technical support and prevention and control system for the subsequent prevention and control of casing damage, which guarantee the normal production of oilfields.

Sulfur autotrophic denitrification (SAD) filters are considered a promising technology due to their stable and excellent performance in nitrogen removal, affordable costs, and operational advantages. In this work, a novel operational strategy that employed sodium bicarbonate as an alkalinity source in the autotrophic denitrification filter (S-SAD) was established. With the sufficient supply of alkalinity, the S-SAD reached an excellent denitrification performance (98.01%±0.43%) with a nitrate concentration of 10 mg/L in influent and hydraulic retention time of 3 hrs. The total dissolved solids increment and sulfate concentration in effluent were significantly reduced by one-third, compared with that of the traditional SAD process under the same conditions. The analysis of microbial community indicated that Thiobacilhus, typical species with the functions of simultaneous sulfur oxidation and denitrification, was evidently enriched in the S-SAD. Thus, this present work demonstrated a feasible, relatively cost-effective and environmentally friendly approach to operate SAD towards further application.

Protease from Streptomyces griseus (SGP) as a sustainable biocatalyst was successfully applied in the Michael/cyclization reaction between dimedone and aryl or alkyl substituted α,β-unsaturated ketones or ester for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyran derivatives. The products were obtained in moderate to excellent yields (46–95%) with certain enantioselectivities (up to 18% ee) for 27 examples. This process afforded a potential biocatalytic approach as alternative to chemical synthesis for 3,4-dihydropyran derivatives. Protease from Streptomyces griseus (SGP) was used as a catalyst in the Michael addition/cyclization reaction for the synthesis of 3,4-dihydropyran derivatives

OBJECTIVE A case-control study was conducted to investigate the feasibility and safety of hand-assisted laparoscopic total gastrectomy (HALTG) with D2 lymphadenectomy for gastric cancer as opposed to traditional open total gastrectomy (OTG). METHODS One hundred fifty-four patients suffering cardia, upper, middle, or whole gastric cancer operated in our department from February 2009 to February 2012 were divided into 2 groups: the open total gastrectomy group (the OTG group) and the hand-assisted laparoscopic total gastrectomy group (the HALTG group). Operative time, estimated blood loss, number of lymph node retrieval, time to the first flatus, and postoperative hospital stay were compared between the 2 groups. RESULTS HALTG was associated with significantly less operative blood loss, shorter time to the first flatus and shorter postoperative hospital stay, but longer operative time, compared with OTG. There were no significant differences in tumor size, retrieved lymph nodes, American Joint Committee on Cancer/Union International Control Cancer staging and tumor location between the 2 groups. Negative resection margins were obtained in all patients who had undergone a hand-assisted laparoscopic gastrectomy (100%) and in all but 2 patients in the open group (97.6%). The overall observed 5-year survival rate was 56.5% in the HALTG group and 51.8% in the OTG group (P=0.0001, log-rank test). CONCLUSIONS HALTG is a safe, feasible, and oncologically sound procedure and has advantages over ODG.

Inspired by natural creatures, the development of a device that collects water from fog represents an important research direction. However, present methods suffer from low efficiency, complex processes, expensive materials, etc. In this study, a single-layer hydrophilic/hydrophobic heterogeneous Janus aluminum membrane based on dual gradient conical micropore arrays is designed and fabricated by laser drilling and subsequent low surface energy modification. The droplets can automatically pass through the conical micropores on the Janus membrane, which results from the wetting driving force of gradient surface energy and the Laplace pressure of the conical morphology. Compared to the superhydrophilic membranes, the Janus membrane possesses a 209% enhancement in the water collection efficiency. This new type of self-driving water collection membrane may offer a way to construct an efficient fog collection system to relieve the freshwater crisis.

Aim To detect the possible role of interleukin (IL)-26 in diabetic retinopathy (DR) patients. Methods Subjects were divided into diabetes without retinopathy (DWR) group (n=20), non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) group (n=20), proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) group (n=20) and normal control group (n=20). The protein expression of IL-26 in the serum and vitreous fluid were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). The mRNA change of IL-26 in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) was assessed by real-time polymerase chain reaction. Results The serum expression of IL-26 in PDR group was significantly elevated compared with the normal control group, DWR group and NPDR group. The vitreous fluid concentration of IL-26 in PDR patients (without anti-VEGF therapy) was also higher compared to normal controls. However, no obvious significance was found concerning the expression of IL-26 in vitreous fluid between PDR after anti-VEGF therapy and normal controls. In PDR group, the mRNA level of IL-26 significantly increased compared with the normal controls and DWR patients in the PBMCs. Conclusion Protein and mRNA expression of IL-26 are increased in serum, vitreous fluid and PBMCs in PDR patients, suggesting that IL-26 may be associated with the pathogenesis of PDR.

Steel slag, clay, quartz, feldspar, and talc were mixed to prepare steel slag ceramics. Crystalline phase transitions, microstructures, and the main physical-mechanical properties (water absorption, linear shrinkage, and flexural strength) of steel slag ceramics for various MgO/Al2O3 ratios were investigated by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and mechanical testing. The results indicated the significant effect of the MgO/Al2O3 ratio on these properties. A decrease in the MgO/Al2O3 ratio resulted in a major crystalline phase transformation from quartz and pyroxene phases to quartz and anorthite phases. High MgO content facilitated production of pyroxene phases. High Al2O3 content favored production of anorthite phases. The water absorption of all the samples (below 0.5%) met the Chinese national standard requirements. Samples with an MgO/Al2O3 ratio of 0.6 exhibited excellent flexural strength, reaching 62.20 MPa. FactSage software was used to predict batch viscosity, which increased with decreasing MgO/Al2O3 ratios.

Background Cyclosporine-A has been regarded as an immunoregulatory and anti-inflammatory drug for the treatment of various immune inflammatory diseases. However, the effect of Cyclosporine-A on the retina of type 2 diabetic rats and the underlying mechanism remains to be elucidated. The objective of the present study was to investigate the effect and mechanism of Cyclosporine-A on diabetic retinopathy. Methods Male Sprague-Dawley rats were established to type 2 diabetic model. After 6 weeks, diabetic rats and normal controls were intravitreally injected with. Cs-A (42 ng/2 μL) to the left eye, and 2 μL DMSO to the right eye for the control.. Another group of normal wild-type rats was subjected to intravitreal injections into. The left eyes with 5 μL PBS or HMGB-1 (5 ng/5 μL) or HMGB-1(5 ng/5 μL) plus. Cs-A (42 ng/2 μL), respectively. Retinal morphological changes were observed with. Hematoxylin–eosin staining. Expressions of HMGB-1, IL-1β and TNF-α were. Detected by immunohistochemistry, ELISA or Western blot or RT-PCR. Results Retinal expression levels of IL-1β and TNF-α were upregulated in type 2. diabetic rats and in normal rats with intravitreal injection of HMGB-1, which were. Attenuated by intravitreal Cs-A. Moreover, Cs-A decreased HMGB-1 expression in. diabetic retina and relieved the retinopathy in type 2 diabetic rats. Conclusions Intravitreal administration of Cs-A showed a protective effect on retina. of diabetic rats, possibly by downregulating retinal expressions of IL-1β and TNF-α. via the suppression of HMGB-1.

This article presents a one-pot synthesis of nitrocyclopropanes via Michael addition initiated ring-closure sequence reactions of bromonitroalkane to α,β-unsaturated enones. Moderate to favorable yields (55–93%) and certain enantioselectivities were obtained with α-amylase from hog pancreas as the catalyst. This strategy utilizes the unnatural ability of enzymes to provide a convenient and biocatalytic method for green organic synthesis.

AIM: To examine the expression of high mobility group box-1 (HMGB-1) and intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) in the retina and the hippocampal tissues; and further to evaluate the association of these two molecules with the alterations of blood-retinal barrier (BRB) and blood-brain barrier (BBB) in a rat model of type 2 diabetes. METHODS: The type-2 diabetes mellitus (DM) model was established with a high-fat and high-glucose diet combined with streptozotocin (STZ). Sixteen weeks after DM induction, morphological changes of retina and hippocampus were observed with hematoxylin-eosin staining, and alternations of BRB and BBB permeability were measured using Evans blue method. Levels of HMGB-1 and ICAM-1 in retina and hippocampus were detected by Western blot. Serum HMGB-1 levels were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). RESULTS: A significantly higher serum fasting blood glucose level in DM rats was observed 2wk after STZ injection (P＜0.01). The serum levels of fasting insulin, Insulin resistance homeostatic model assessment (IRHOMA), total cholesterol (TC), total triglycerides (TG) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) in the DM rats significantly higher than those in the controls (all P＜0.01). HMGB-1 (0.96±0.03, P＜0.01) and ICAM-1 (0.76±0.12, P＜0.05) levels in the retina in the DM rats were significantly higher than those in the controls. HMGB-1 (0.83±0.13, P＜0.01) and ICAM-1 (1.15±0.08, P＜0.01) levels in the hippocampal tissues in the DM rats were also significantly higher than those in the controls. Sixteen weeks after induction of DM, the BRB permeability to albumin-bound Evans blue dye in the DM rats was significantly higher than that in the controls (P＜0.01). However, there was no difference of BBB permeability between the DM rats and controls. When compared to the controls, hematoxylin and eosin staining showed obvious irregularities in the DM rats. CONCLUSION: BRB permeability increases significantly in rats with type-2 DM, which may be associated with the up-regulated retinal expression of HMGB-1 and ICAM-1.

An unprecedented enzyme-catalyzed asymmetric domino aza-Michael/aldol reaction of 2-aminobenzaldehyde and α,β-unsaturated aldehydes is achieved. Pepsin from porcine gastric mucosa provided mild and efficient access to diverse substituted 1,2-dihydroquinolines in yields of 38%–97% with 6%–24% enantiomeric excess (ee). This work not only provides a novel method for the synthesis of dihydroquinoline derivatives, but also promotes the development of enzyme catalytic promiscuity.

As a main active compound in the bark of waxberry (Myrica rubra), myricetin is a macrocyclic diarylheptanoid, and can trigger the apoptosis of HeLa and PC3 cells. The aim of the present study was to elucidate the anticancer effect of myricetin on human breast cancer MCF-7 cells and to explore the possible mechanisms of action. MCF-7 cells were treated with different concentrations of myricetin (0-80 µM) for 12, 24 and 48 h. In the present study, we found that myricetin suppressed the cell viability of the MCF-7 cells at least partly through the induction of apoptosis as determined by MTT assay and flow cytometry. Western blot analysis revealed that myricetin effectively suppressed the protein expression of p21-activated kinase 1 (PAK1), MEK and phosphorylated extracellular mitogen-activated protein kinase (ERK1/2). In addition, treatment of myricetin activated glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK3β) and Bax protein expression, and inhibited β-catenin/cyclin D1/proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA)/survivin and promoted caspase-3 activity in the MCF-7 cells. These results demonstrated that myricetin suppressed the cell viability of human breast cancer MCF-7 cells through PAK1/MEK/ERK/GSK3β/β-catenin/cyclin D1/PCNA/survivin/Bax-caspase-3 signaling.

Dissolved iron exerts significant effects on mineral leaching, impurity removal, and solution purification in the zinc hydrometallurgy process. To date, iron oxidation and migration behaviors are yet to be fully understood and further research on effective regulation mechanisms of iron is required. In this paper, zinc sulfide concentrate was used as the research object. The behaviors of both Zn and Fe during pressure leaching were investigated for varying temperature, acid addition, and leaching time. At temperature of 100~160 &deg, C, H2SO4/Zn ratio of 0.9:1&ndash, 1.25:1, and leaching time of 0.5&ndash, 2.5 h, the zinc extraction increased with temperature, acidity and leaching time. The iron extraction, however, varied differently with increasing temperature, acidity and leaching time: (A) it increased with temperature to 150 &deg, C and then decreased at higher temperature, and (B) displayed an initial increase followed by a decrease with respect to the leaching time. Based on the characteristics of the residue phase, chemical phase analysis was used to analyze the residue in detail. The extent of dissolution of iron-containing minerals and the extent of precipitation of ferric ions during the leaching process were quantitatively calculated.

The energy enterprise group has its basic features and value properties, and it has the driving force of pursuing maximal value. Meanwhile, the transformation and upgrade of the energy enterprise group faces both opportunities and problems, which is important for the internal audit system to be improved through five directions—strategy improvement, function expansion, organization revolution, process reengineering and safeguard mechanism to meet the demands of the enterprise value development.

BACKGROUND The role of hand-assisted laparoscopic and pure laparoscopic surgery for locally advanced colorectal cancer invading or adhering to neighboring organs is controversial. This study evaluated the safety and feasibility of laparoscopic multivisceral resection for colorectal cancer. PATIENTS AND METHODS This study included 201 patients who underwent multivisceral resection for locally advanced colorectal cancer from January 2007 to December 2013 in the Department of General Surgery, Henan Provincial Hospital. Perioperative outcomes and long-time outcomes were compared among hand-assisted laparoscopic, laparoscopic and open resections. RESULTS Estimated blood loss, wound length, time to the first flatus, and postoperative hospital stay were significantly less or shorter in the hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery (HALS) and laparoscopic surgery group than in open surgery (OS) group. There were no significant differences in tumor size, retrieved lymph nodes, and R0 resection rate of the primary tumor among the 3 groups. Surgeries started as laparoscopic surgery were completed in that manner 76.6% of the time with 10.6% being converted to OS and 12.8% converted to HALS and there were only 2 conversions (2.2%) to OS in the HALS group. No significant difference was noted for overall morbidity rate and reoperation rate among the 3 groups. The overall observed 5-year survival rate was 60.5% in the laparoscopic group, 55.4% in the HALS group, and 47.7% in the open group. There was no significant difference among the 3 groups in the 5-year survival rate. CONCLUSIONS Hand-assisted laparoscopic and pure laparoscopic multivisceral resection for locally advanced colorectal cancer is safe and feasible in selected patients. HALS can be used judiciously to reduce the rate of conversion to an open procedure and may be a better alternative for laparoscopic approach.

Aims Ischaemia is one of the most important causes of blindness. The purpose of this study was to investigate the potential role and mechanisms by which toll-like receptor 3 (TLR3) influences the progression of the inflammatory response in a rat model of oxygen-induced retinopathy (OIR). Methods OIR rat models were successfully established and received single intravitreal injections of polyinosine-polycytidylic acid (poly (I:C)) and anti-TLR3 antibody, respectively, on postnatal day 17 (P17). Pathological retinal neovascularisation was evaluated by haematoxylin and eosin staining and immunohistochemistry with Isolectin B4 FITC (fluorescein isothyocyanate). Retinal expressions of TLR3 and nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) were measured using real-time PCR, immunohistochemistry and western blot. Furthermore, interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumour necrosis factor α (TNFα) expression levels were assessed with real-time PCR and ELISA. Results Both gene and protein expression levels of TLR3 and NF-κB were significantly elevated in the retinas of OIR rats compared to the controls. Increased IL-6 and TNFα expression levels were also observed in the retinas of OIR rats. Furthermore, TLR3 signalling pathway components, including NF-κB and IL-6/TNFα, were markedly upregulated upon stimulation with poly(I:C). In addition, the pre-treatment of TLR3 neutralising antibody in OIR models significantly decreased TLR3 and NF-κB expressions, as well as related inflammatory factors IL-6/TNFα expression. Conclusions Our results suggest that upregulation of the TLR3 signalling pathway is involved in the pro-inflammatory response in OIR rat retinas.

This paper studied the principles of thermal gas mass flow meter. According to the car engine EGR cooler working principle, we found out a kind of heat dissipation gas mass flow meter to measure the mass flow quantity of the gas in the EGR cooler test and analysis system which is a newly applied invention patent. We analyzed various parameters of the gas mass flow meter suitable to the system. Meanwhile, in order to verify reliability of the thermal gas mass flow meter in the system, we adopted CFD method to simulate the EGR cooler by using empirical parameters, and collected several related sensor parameters of the EGR cooler in the condition that the inlet temperature was constantly at 368K while the coolant had 4 kinds of degrees. Combining heat empirical formula, we got the EGR cooler outlet temperature and the overall heat transfer coefficient. After comparing the calculated values of the gas path total EGR cooler outlet temperature and heat transfer coefficients with the experimental values, we found that the outlet temperature values of experiment were smaller than the calculated values by averagely 1.17%, while the average experimental values of the overall heat transfer coefficient were 3.1% larger than the calculated values. Thus, this type of mass flow meter has good stability in the newly applied Chinese patent EGR cooler performance test and analysis system.

A model waste mixing with kaolin, sand, and peat was developed. The physical properties of the waste were compared with the real municipal solid waste (MSW). The influence of unit weight on compression factor, shear strength, and saturated hydraulic conductivity was acquired. In addition, the homogeneous of the soil model was detected using the IWHR 450g-ton centrifuge and the newly developed centrifuge-robot.

Density is one of the most important soil parameters. However, it is difficult to measure the density of soil model during centrifuge in flight. The cone penetration test (CPT) with robot provides a useful tool to determine the soil density of different models, as the cone resistance is closely related to soil density. This paper presents the correlation between cone resistance and relative density of sand, by doing centrifuge tests with robot CPT. Based on the test results, a formula that describes the correlation between cone resistance and sand relative density of Fujian standard sand is proposed for IWHR CPT attached to centrifuge robot.

To evaluate the feasibility and safety of hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery for gastric cancer in obese patients, we compare the operative outcomes in obese patients who underwent hand-assisted laparoscopic distal gastrectomy (HALDG) and open distal gastrectomy (ODG). One hundred sixty-two obese patients with gastric cancer operated on in our department from January 2009 to December 2011 were divided into two groups: the open distal gastrectomy group (the ODG group) and the hand-assisted laparoscopic distal gastrectomy group (the HALDG group). Operative time, estimated blood loss, number of lymph node retrieval, wound length, times of analgesic injection, time to the first flatus, and postoperative hospital stay were compared between the two groups. Estimated blood loss, wound length, times of analgesic injection, time to the first flatus, and postoperative hospital stay were significantly less or shorter in the HALDG group than in the ODG group. There were no significant differences in tumor size, retrieved lymph nodes, American Joint Cancer Committee /Union Internationale Contre le Cancer staging, and resection margins between the two groups. Obesity should not be seen as a contraindication for HALDG. HALDG for obese patients is a safe, feasible, and oncologically sound procedure and has advantages over ODG.
