ObjectiveEmerging evidence suggests alterations in gut microbiota (GM) composition following thyroid nodules (TNs) development, yet the causal relationship remains unclear. Utilizing Mendelian Randomization (MR), this study aims to elucidate the causal dynamics between GM and TNs.MethodsEmploying summary statistics from the MiBioGen consortium (n=18,340) and FinnGen consortium (1,634 TNs cases, 263,704 controls), we conducted univariable and multivariable MR analyses to explore the GM-TNs association. Techniques including inverse variance weighted, MR-Egger regression, weighted median, and MR-PRESSO were utilized for causal inference. Instrumental variable heterogeneity was assessed through Cochran’s Q statistic and leave-one-out analysis. Reverse MR was applied for taxa showing significant forward MR associations, with multivariate adjustments for confounders.ResultsOur findings suggest that certain microbiota, identified as Ruminococcaceae_NK4A214_group (OR, 1.89; 95%CI, 0.47-7.64; p = 0.040), Senegalimassilia (OR, 1.72; 95%CI, 1.03-2.87; p =0.037), Lachnospiraceae (OR,0.64; 95%CI,0.41-0.99; p =0.045), exhibit a protective influence against TNs’ development, indicated by negative causal associations. In contrast, microbiota categorized as Desulfovibrionales (OR, 0.63; 95%CI, 0.41-0.95; p =0.028), Prevotella_7 (OR, 0.79; 95%CI, 0.63-1.00; p =0.049), Faecalibacterium (OR, 0.66; 95%CI, 0.44-1.00; p =0.050), Desulfovibrionaceae (OR, 0.55; 95%CI, 0.35-0.86; p =0.008), Deltaproteobacteria (OR, 0.65; 95%CI, 0.43-0.97; p =0.036) are have a positive correlation with with TNs, suggesting they may serve as risk factors. Reverse MR analyses did not establish significant causal links. After comprehensive adjustment for confounders, taxa Desulfovibrionales (Order), Desulfovibrionaceae (Family), Deltaproteobacteria (Class) remain implicated as potential contributors to TNs’ risk.DiscussionThis study substantiates a significant causal link between GM composition and TNs development, underscoring the thyroid-gut axis’s relevance. The findings advocate for the integration of GM profiles in TNs’ prevention and management, offering a foundation for future research in this domain.

Clerodendranthus spicatus (Thunb.) (Kidney tea) is a very distinctive ethnic herbal medicine in China. Its leaves are widely used as a healthy tea. Many previous studies have demonstrated its various longevity-promoting effects; however, the safety and specific health-promoting effects of Clerodendranthus spicatus (C. spicatus) as a dietary supplement remain unclear. In order to understand the effect of C. spicatus on the longevity of Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans), we evaluated its role in C. elegans; C. spicatus water extracts (CSw) were analyzed for the major components and the effects on C. elegans were investigated from physiological and biochemical to molecular levels; CSw contain significant phenolic components (primarily rosmarinic acid and eugenolinic acid) and flavonoids (primarily quercetin and isorhamnetin) and can increase the lifespan of C. elegans. Further investigations showed that CSw modulate stress resistance and lipid metabolism through influencing DAF-16/FoxO (DAF-16), Heat shock factor 1 (HSF-1), and Nuclear Hormone Receptor-49 (NHR-49) signalling pathways; CSw can improve the antioxidant and hypolipidemic activity of C. elegans and prolong the lifespan of C. elegans (with the best effect at low concentrations). Therefore, the recommended daily use of C. spicatus should be considered when consuming it as a healthy tea on a daily basis.

Plant roots are constantly prepared to adjust their growth trajectories to avoid unfavorable environments, and their ability to reorient is particularly crucial for survival. Under laboratory conditions, this continuous reorientation of the root tip is manifested as coiling or waving, which we refer to as root circumnutation. However, the effect of ambient temperature (AT) on root circumnutation remains unexplored. In this study, rice seedlings were employed to assess the impact of varying ATs on root circumnutation. The role of ethylene in mediating root circumnutation under elevated AT was examined using the ethylene biosynthesis inhibitor aminooxyacetic acid (AOA) and the ethylene perception antagonist silver thiosulfate (STS). Furthermore, transcriptome sequencing, weighted gene co-expression network analysis, and real-time quantitative PCR were utilized to analyze gene expressions in rice root tips under four distinct treatments: 25°C, 35°C, 35°C+STS, and 35°C+AOA. As a result, genes associated with ethylene synthesis and signaling (OsACOs and OsERFs), auxin synthesis and transport (OsYUCCA6, OsABCB15, and OsNPFs), cell elongation (OsEXPAs, OsXTHs, OsEGL1, and OsEXORDIUMs), as well as the inhibition of root curling (OsRMC) were identified. Notably, the expression levels of these genes increased with rising temperatures above 25°C. This study is the first to demonstrate that elevated AT can induce root circumnutation in rice via the ethylene pathway and proposes a potential molecular model through the identification of key genes. These findings offer valuable insights into the growth regulation mechanism of plant roots under elevated AT conditions.

Tire as the only contact part between automobiles and road surface plays an important role in noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) performance of automobiles. Free vibration characteristics of a nonrotating tire have been extensively studied, but the vibration behaviour of a rolling tire still needs further investigation, especially the high-order vibration higher than 300 Hz. Since the modal characteristics are highly dependent on the stresses induced from external loading and rolling speed, a finite element (FE) model was established for investigating rolling tire natural frequencies and mode shapes including high-order vibration. The effects of the vertical load and rolling speed are incorporated in the analysis through an explicit dynamic simulation to determine the stress state throughout the tire at instants when the modal characteristics are desired. The contact features between the tire and road obtained from the numerical FE method are verified by a vertical loading test experimentally, and then the FE model of a free tire in a frequency range of 0–500 Hz is validated by the hammering test. A great agreement between the FE model and experimental results of tire is found. A new naming convention combining wave numbers and travelling wave direction is developed to identify and categorize modes of the static and rolling tires, respectively, based on travelling wave vibration theory. The influences of vertical load and rolling speed on tire natural frequencies are examined by the FE model, and the results show that the mode frequencies of rolling tire diverged to two different frequencies with one being lower and the other being higher than the corresponding frequency of static tire alone. This study provides deeper understanding of complex dynamic properties, which are beneficial to designing and optimizing of tire-vehicle systems and identification of the critical rolling speeds.

Abstract Prostate cancer is one of the more heterogeneous tumour types. In recent years, with the rapid development of single-cell sequencing and spatial transcriptome technologies, researchers have gained a more intuitive and comprehensive understanding of the heterogeneity of prostate cancer. Tumour-associated epithelial cells; cancer-associated fibroblasts; the complexity of the immune microenvironment, and the heterogeneity of the spatial distribution of tumour cells and other cancer-promoting molecules play a crucial role in the growth, invasion, and metastasis of prostate cancer. Single-cell multi-omics biotechnology, especially single-cell transcriptome sequencing, reveals the expression level of single cells with higher resolution and finely dissects the molecular characteristics of different tumour cells. We reviewed the recent literature on prostate cancer cells, focusing on single-cell RNA sequencing. And we analysed the heterogeneity and spatial distribution differences of different tumour cell types. We discussed the impact of novel single-cell omics technologies, such as rich omics exploration strategies, multi-omics joint analysis modes, and deep learning models, on future prostate cancer research. In this review, we have constructed a comprehensive catalogue of single-cell omics studies in prostate cancer. This article aimed to provide a more thorough understanding of the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. We summarised and proposed several key issues and directions on applying single-cell multi-omics and spatial transcriptomics to understand the heterogeneity of prostate cancer. Finally, we discussed single-cell omics trends and future directions in prostate cancer.

Light serves not only as a signaling cue perceived by plant photoreceptors but also as an essential energy source captured by chloroplasts. However, excessive light can impose stress on plants. Fern gametophytes possess the unique ability to survive independently and play a critical role in the alternation of generations. Due to their predominantly shaded distribution under canopies, light availability becomes a limiting factor for gametophyte survival, making it imperative to investigate their response to light. Previous research on fern gametophytes’ light response has been limited to the physiological level. In this study, we examined the light response of Adiantum flabellulatum gametophytes under different photosynthetic photon flux density (PPFD) levels and identified their high sensitivity to low light. We thereby determined optimal and stress-inducing light conditions. By employing transcriptome sequencing, weighted gene co-expression network analysis, and Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analyses, we identified 10,995 differentially expressed genes (DEGs). Notably, 3 PHYBs and 5 Type 1 CRYs (CRY1s) were significantly down-regulated at low PPFD (0.1 μmol m-2 s-1). Furthermore, we annotated 927 DEGs to pathways related to photosynthesis and 210 to the flavonoid biosynthesis pathway involved in photoprotection. Additionally, we predicted 34 transcription factor families and identified a close correlation between mTERFs and photosynthesis, as well as a strong co-expression relationship between MYBs and bHLHs and genes encoding flavonoid synthesis enzymes. This comprehensive analysis enhances our understanding of the light response of fern gametophytes and provides novel insights into the mechanisms governing their responses to light.

Since the theory of modern anatomical partitioning of the prostate was proposed, the differences in the incidence and pathological parameters of prostate cancer between the peripheral zone and transition zone have been gradually revealed. It suggests that there are differences in the pathogenic pathways and molecular biology of prostate cancer between different regions of origin. Over the past decade, advances in sequencing technologies have revealed more about molecules, genomes, and cell types specific to the peripheral and transitional zones. In recent years, the innovation of spatial imaging and multiple-parameter magnetic resonance imaging has provided new technical support for the zonal study of prostate cancer. In this work, we reviewed all the research results and the latest research progress in the study of prostate cancer in the past two decades. We summarized and proposed several vital issues and focused directions for understanding the differences between peripheral and transitional zones in prostate cancer.

Ferns are important components of plant communities on earth, but their genomes are generally very large, with many redundant genes, making whole genome sequencing of ferns prohibitively expensive and time-consuming. This means there is a significant lack of fern reference genomes, making molecular biology research difficult. The gametophytes of ferns can survive independently, are responsible for sexual reproduction and the feeding of young sporophytes, and play an important role in the alternation of generations. For this study, we selected Adiantum flabellulatum as it has both ornamental and medicinal value and is also an indicator plant of acidic soil. The full-length transcriptome sequencing of its gametophytes was carried out using PacBio three-generation sequencing technology. A total of 354,228 transcripts were obtained, and 231,705 coding sequences (CDSs) were predicted, including 5,749 transcription factors (TFs), 2,214 transcription regulators (TRs) and 4,950 protein kinases (PKs). The transcripts annotated by non-redundant protein sequence database (NR), Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG), eukaryotic ortholog groups (KOG), Swissprot, protein family (Pfma), nucleotide sequence database (NT) and gene ontology (GO) were 251,501, 197,474, 193,630, 194,639, 195,956, 113,069 and 197,883, respectively. In addition, 138,995 simple sequence repeats (SSRs) and 111,793 long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) were obtained. We selected nine chlorophyll synthase genes for qRT-PCR, and the results showed that the full-length transcript sequences and the annotation information were reliable. This study can provide a reference gene set for subsequent gene expression quantification.

Abstract Background Post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) is a series of syndromes that meet the diagnostic criteria for cognitive impairment that appear after a stroke. The treatment of PSCI with oral drugs alone is not ideal and has obvious side effects. Therefore, complementary and alternative treatments are needed for patients with insufficient or significant side effects of oral medications. Therefore, we will evaluate the clinical effectiveness and safety of acupuncture in the treatment of PSCI. Methods/design In this study, patients will be randomly divided into two groups. Intervention group: acupuncture combined with oral medication. Control group: Western medicine treatment plan. All participants will continue to receive conventional drug treatment. The selection of outcomes will be evaluated by Mini Mental State Examination Scale (MMSE) at week 12. The scale will be conducted by two well-trained reviewers who will conduct joint MMSE inspections on participants. The test time will be selected 3 days before treatment and once 4 weeks after treatment. After the MMSE test, the two raters scored independently, and the average of the two was used as the final score. Discussion This trial may provide evidence regarding the clinical effectiveness, safety, and cost-effectiveness of acupuncture for patients with PSCI. Lithium, as the lightest alkali metal, is widely used in military and new energy applications. With the rapid growth in demand for lithium resources, it has become necessary to improve the effectiveness of extraction thereof. By using chemical grafting and electrospinning techniques, nanofibres containing crown ether were developed for adsorbing Li(I) from the brine in salt lakes, so as to selectively adsorb Li(I) on the premise of retaining specific vacancies of epoxy groups in crown ether. In lithium-containing solution, the adsorbing materials can reach adsorption equilibrium within three hours, and the maximum adsorption capacity is 4.8 mg g−1. The adsorption mechanisms of the adsorbing materials for Li(I) were revealed by combining Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) with density functional theory (DFT) calculation. The results indicated that in crown ether, O in epoxy groups was coordinated with Li(I) to form Li–O and four O atoms in the epoxy groups were used as electron donors. After coordination, two O atoms protruded from the plane and formed a tetrahedral structure with Li(I), realising the specific capture of Li(I). By desorbing fibres that adsorbed Li(I) with 0.5-M HCl, the adsorption capacity only decreased by 10.4% after five cycles, proving ability to regenerate such materials. The nanofibres containing crown ether synthesised by chemical grafting and electrospinning have the potential to be used in extracting lithium resources from the brine in salt lakes.

The Perspective of N Points (PNP) problem in optical measurement and machine vision is to estimate the pose parameters of an object by a monocular image. For traditional coplanar P4P methods, the four points must have known coordinates or be a rectangle’s four vertices. In this paper, a new method of the P4P problem for parallelogram objects without shape parameters is proposed to solve the objects’ pose and shape parameters based on the parallelogram vertices’ relative coordinate constraints. The correctness and effectiveness of the method have been verified through experiments. In addition to being used to estimate a parallelogram object’s pose and shape, the new method extends the conclusions of the coplanar P4P problem when the four points are a parallelogram’s four vertices.

Depression is a complex mental disorder, affecting approximately 280 million individuals globally. The pathobiology of depression is not fully understood, and the development of new treatments is urgently needed. Dihydromyricetin (DHM) is a natural flavanone, mainly distributed in Ampelopsis grossedentata. DHM has demonstrated a protective role against cardiovascular disease, diabetes, liver disease, cancer, kidney injury and neurodegenerative disorders. In the present study, we examined the protective effect of DHM against depression in a chronic depression mouse model induced by corticosterone (CORT). Animals exposed to CORT displayed depressive-like behaviors; DHM treatment reversed these behaviors. Network pharmacology analyses showed that DHM’s function against depression involved a wide range of targets and signaling pathways, among which the inflammation-linked targets and signaling pathways were critical. Western blotting showed that CORT-treated animals had significantly increased levels of the advanced glycation end product (AGE) and receptor of AGE (RAGE) in the hippocampus, implicating activation of the AGE-RAGE signaling pathway. Furthermore, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) detected a marked increase in the production of proinflammatory cytokines, interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNFα) in the hippocampus of CORT-treated mice. DHM administration significantly counteracted these CORT-induced changes. These findings suggest that protection against depression by DHM is mediated by suppression of neuroinflammation, predominantly via the AGE-RAGE signaling pathway.

two novel gelators N-TPY-DA and O-TPY-DA were designed. By introduction of Eu3+ followed by UV-irradiation, Eu3+/O-TPY-PDA polymeric gel with dark purple color and red emission color was obtained. Furthermore, colorimetric and fluorescent sensor arrays toward organic solvents could be obtained by Eu3+/O-TPY-PDA gels. Eu3+/O-TPY-PDA gel showed dark purple-to-red color response toward organic solvents such as CH2Cl2, CHCl3, THF and DMF. On the other hand, DMF and methanol both triggered red-to-blue emission color changes of Eu3+/O-TPY-DA gel. The two solvents could be further discriminated by fluorescent spectral difference. Furthermore, O-TPY-PDA or N-TPY-PDA gel could be also utilized to absorb Ag+ or Au3+ from aqueous solutions. By in situ reduction, the obtained fibrous xerogel assembly embedded with Ag or Au nanoparticles had enhanced photocatalytic performance. This work showed how a simple gel system converts to materials with multiple functions including pollutant sensing, absorption and functional nanoparticle formation.

Residual stresses are one of the main factors determining the failure of aircraft engine materials. It is not possible to reliably and accurately predict the remaining service life of aircraft engine components without properly accounting for the presence of residual stresses. The absolute level and spatial distribution of the residual stress is uncertain in aircraft engines because the residual stress profile is highly susceptible to variations in the manufacturing process. In addition, residual stresses keep evolving under complex thermal-mechanical loadings. Non-destructive techniques are desired by the aerospace industries for the regular monitoring of subsurface residual stress profile in aircraft engine components. The insufficient penetrating capability of the only currently available non-destructive residual stress assessment technique X-ray diffraction has prompted an active search for alternative non-destructive techniques. This paper provides an overview of the principle, practical applications, advantages, and limitations of four categories of nondestructive (diffraction, ultrasonic, and electromagnetic) techniques for residual stress profiling of metallic components in aircraft engines.

PurposeRecently, Eyetronix Flicker Glass (EFG) has been introduced as a novel treatment for amblyopia. It alternatively deprives the visual input of each eye rapidly (e.g., 7 Hz). However, whether it is comparable with standard patching therapy is unclear. In this randomized clinical trial, we evaluate the efficacy of an EFG therapy as treatment for amblyopia in children and compare it to the patching therapy.MethodsWe tested 31 children (aged 4–13 years) with amblyopia. They were assigned into one of the two treatment groups and were treated for 12 weeks. The first group was treated with EFG for 1 h/day (Flicker Group) and the latter with a standard patch (Patching Group) for 2 h/day. We designated changes from baseline in best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) of the amblyopic eye as our primary outcome. Changes from baseline in other visual outcomes, such as contrast sensitivity, stereopsis, and fusional vergence range were measured as secondary outcome.ResultsBCVA improved significantly at 12 weeks relative to baseline in both the Flicker (0.13 ± 0.11 logMAR; mean ± SD) and Patching Groups (0.21 ± 0.14 logMAR). However, the improvements were not significantly different between groups (p = 0.13). Contrast sensitivity also significantly improved at 3 and 12 cycles/degree between baseline and 12 weeks in both groups (p’s < 0.05). However, stereopsis and fusion range did not improve significantly in both groups.ConclusionAn EFG therapy and patching improved BCVA similarly for children with amblyopia at 12 weeks. Both therapies improved the contrast sensitivity at 3 and 12 cycles per degree (cpd); however, only patching improved the contrast sensitivity at 6 cpd. Both therapies did not benefit binocular visual functions (stereopsis and fusional vergence range). Brassinosteroids (BRs) are a class of polyhydroxysteroid plant hormones; they play important roles in the development and stress resistance of plants. The research on BRs has mainly been carried out in angiosperms, but in ferns—research is still limited to the physiological level and is not in-depth. In this study, Adiantum flabellulatum gametophytes were used as materials and treated with 10−6 M brassinolide (BL). The differentially expressed genes (DEGs) responsive to BRs were identified by transcriptome sequencing, GO, KEGG analysis, as well as a quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. From this, a total of 8394 DEGs were screened. We found that the expressions of photosynthetic genes were widely inhibited by high concentrations of BL in A. flabellulatum gametophytes. Moreover, we detected many BR synthase genes, except BR6ox2, which may be why castasterone (CS) rather than BL was detected in ferns. Additionally, we identified (for the first time) that the expressions of BR synthase genes (CYP90B1, CYP90C1, CYP90D1, CPD, and BR6ox1) were negatively regulated by BL in fern gametophytes, which indicated that ferns, including gametophytes, also needed the regulatory mechanism for maintaining BR homeostasis. Based on transcriptome sequencing, this study can provide a large number of gene expression data for BRs regulating the development of fern gametophytes.

Objective: The study was aim to investigate the effect of HOX transcript antisense RNA (HOTAIR) on the growth, migration, and invasion of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and its underlying mechanisms. Methods: Cell growth, invasion, and migration was respectively investigated using the MTT assay, trans-well assay, and wound healing assay. The expression of genes and proteins was respectively determined by Western blot analysis and RT-PCR experiments. Results: It was demonstrated that high expression of HOTAIR in PTC cells (BCPAP) and tissues resulted in fast tumor growth and poor survival time of the PTC-bearing mice models. Moreover, overexpression of HOTAIR leaded to markedly enhanced proliferation, migration, and invasion of BCPAP cells. Increase the levels of HOTAIR in BCPAP cells signally down-regulated the miR-488-5p levels which was able of inhibiting the growth rate, increasing the apoptosis rate, and decreasing the invasion/migration ability of BCPAP cells. Further studies indicated that HOTAIR promoted BCPAP cell growth, invasion, and migration mainly through regulating the miR-488-5p/NUP205 axis and the levels of Bcl-2 as well. Conclusion: HOTAIR promoted the growth, migration, and invasion of papillary thyroid carcinoma mainly through regulating the miR-488-5p/NUP205 axis.

The current outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been defined as a pandemic by the World Health Organization. We aimed to evaluate the clinical features and virological course of non-severe COVID-19 patients with or without symptoms who were admitted to a Chinese cabin hospital. In this retrospective single center study, we reviewed 252 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients treated at one temporary cabin hospital in Wuhan, China. Demographic, clinical, serial chest computed tomography (CT), and serial viral test data were compared between asymptomatic and symptomatic patients. The association between clinical features and symptomatic status or patient referral status was analyzed. Among all 252 patients, 74 (29.4%) were asymptomatic and 138 (54.76%) had more than two family members who developed COVID-19. The probability for family clustering was similar between asymptomatic and symptomatic patients (59.70 vs. 61.64%, P = 0.79). Asymptomatic patients and symptomatic patients were equally likely to reach a virus-free state during their stay at the cabin hospital (93.15 vs. 86.44%, P = 0.13). The initial chest CT screening showed that 81 (32.1%) patients had no visible pneumonia, 52 (20.6%) had unilateral pneumonia, and 119 (47.2%) had bilateral pneumonia. Symptomatic patients had a higher chance to have bilateral pneumonia (P < 0.0001) and were less likely to show improvement on the follow-up CT scan (P = 0.0002). In total, 69 (27.4%) patients were referred to the designated hospital and only 23 (9.1%) patients were referred due to the progression of pneumonia. Non-severe COVID-19 patients can transmit the disease regardless of their symptomatic status. It is highly recommended that asymptomatic patients be identified and quarantined to eliminate the transmission of COVID-19.

Polyoxometalates (POMs ) are novel and unique inorganic building blocks, which can activate the terminal oxygen or bridging oxygen by adjusting the synthesis conditions, thus obtaining various compounds. In order to study the electroche-mical properties of POMs, Keggin-phosphomolybdic acid and 1,4-bis ( imidazolyl ) butane (L) are selected to synthesize a new inorganic-organic hybrid compound (H2L)3(PMo12O40)2 based on polyoxometalates by hydrothermal method. The electrocatalysis activity of the compound to nitrite is studied.The compound has been characterized by elemental analyses, IR, TG, X-ray single crystal diffractions and PXRD, and the connection between synthesis conditions(for example pH values) and compound structures is also studied. The electrochemical behavior and electro-catalysis of the target compound are studied. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis reveals that the polyoxometalates and the organic donor are linked to become 3D structure by hydrogen bonds (triclini, P-1). And Fluorescence analysis indicates that the fluorescence of the compound mainly comes from ligand contribution. The compound exhibits remarkable catalytic activity to nitrite ions and may be actually used for the detection of nitrite.

Using Pluronic P123 surfactant as template, a periodic mesoporous organosilica (PMO) functionalized with 4′-(4-carboxy-methyleneoxy phenyl)-2,2′:6′,2″-terpyridine (L-COOH) was successfully prepared via co-condensation using 1,2-bis(triethoxysilyl)ethane (BTESE) and the modified L-COOH (L-COOH-NH2). This terpyridine moiety forms interesting chelates to europium ions and enhances the luminescence of Eu3+ ions. Thus, a novel luminescent hybrid material was developed via linking Eu3+ complex Eu(NTA)3(H2O)2 to L-COOH-functionalized PMO material (L-COOH-PMO) using ligand exchange reactions. Investigation of photoluminescent properties shows that the prepared mesoporous hybrid Eu(NTA)3L-COOH-PMO exhibited red emission, long lifetime and high absolute quantum efficiency Φ in solid-state and aqueous solution. More interestingly, it demonstrates greatly sensitive and selective detection of Cu2+ ions in aqueous medium among test ions. The sensing mechanism was also discussed in this report. To further improve ring laser gyroscope (RLG) bias stability, a multiple-point temperature gradient algorithm is proposed for RLG bias compensation in this paper. Based on the multiple-point temperature measurement system, a complete thermo-image of the RLG block is developed. Combined with the multiple-point temperature gradients between different points of the RLG block, the particle swarm optimization algorithm is used to tune the support vector machine (SVM) parameters, and an optimized design for selecting the thermometer locations is also discussed. The experimental results validate the superiority of the introduced method and enhance the precision and generalizability in the RLG bias compensation model.

Flexible electronic systems have received increasing attention in the past few decades because of their wide-ranging applications that include the flexible display, eyelike digital camera, skin electronics, and intelligent surgical gloves, among many other health monitoring devices. As one of the most widely used technologies to integrate rigid functional devices with elastomeric substrates for the manufacturing of flexible electronic devices, transfer printing technology has been extensively studied. Though primarily relying on reversible interfacial adhesion, a variety of advanced transfer printing methods have been proposed and demonstrated. In this review, we first summarize the characteristics of a few representative methods of transfer printing. Next, we will introduce successful demonstrations of each method in flexible electronic devices. Moreover, the potential challenges and future development opportunities for transfer printing will then be briefly discussed.

Bolted connections are widely used in various mechanical structures due to their superior fastening properties. However, vibration and fatigue loads in the structure are likely to cause fatigue failure of the bolted joints, especially those under high temperature, such as in aero-engines. This paper mainly studies the low-cycle fatigue life of the pre-tightened bolts working at a high temperature. A novel test fixture is designed for fatigue tests, and low cycle fatigue tests of pre-tightened bolts are conducted at the temperatures of 550 °C and 650 °C, respectively. Furthermore, a new low cycle fatigue model that is based on the Von Mises equivalent stress/strain criterion is proposed. Meanwhile, the proposed model is used to predict the high-temperature low cycle fatigue life of pre-tightened bolts according to the stress/strain results obtained by finite element analysis. There is good agreement between the experimental results and those obtained by theoretical prediction, which validates the accuracy of the proposed fatigue model. Research results will provide a theoretical basis for the low cycle fatigue life prediction of pre-tightened bolts.
