However, the existing research on this topic has yielded inconsistent findings, possibly due to variations in the type of exclusion and individuals’ cognitive effort. Two studies were conducted to explore the influence of social rejection and ostracism on cognitive effort avoidance.Participants and Methods: Study 1 involved forty-six adults who were randomly divided into a rejection group and a control group using a get-acquainted paradigm. The demand selection task (DST) was used to measure cognitive effort avoidance. In Study 2, forty-eight adults were recruited, Cyberball and DST paradigms were used to evoke ostracism and test cognitive effort avoidance, respectively.Results: The results of study 1 showed that individuals who were socially rejected by their partners exhibited impaired response accuracy of cognitive control and increased cognitive effort avoidance. This indicates that social rejection has a negative impact on cognitive control processing and that individuals may be more likely to avoid cognitive effort when experiencing social rejection. The results of study 2 showed that ostracism had an impact on both response speed and accuracy, but it did not significantly affect cognitive effort avoidance. This indicates that social rejection affects cognitive control processing differently than ostracism, and individuals are more likely to avoid cognitive effort when experiencing social rejection.Conclusion: These findings suggest that social rejection and ostracism have different effects on cognitive effort, which may contribute to the inconsistent cognitive performance during social exclusion. Future research may explore the underlying mechanisms that lead to these differences and examine how individuals can mitigate the negative effects of social exclusion on cognitive control processing.Keywords: social rejection, ostracism, demand selection task, cognitive control, cognitive effort

However, its validity and reliability in the general Chinese population still need to be examined.Purpose: We revised the inventory and estimated the validity and reliability of the Chinese version of the CATI among 2232 general undergraduates.Methods: The Chinese version of the CATI (CATI-C) was administered to 2259 undergraduates using the online Questionnaires Star electronic system. Internal consistency, convergent validity, discriminant validity, test-retest reliability, and measurement invariance across gender were calculated. In order to determine the diagnostic accuracy and optimal cut-off score of the CATI-C, an analysis using the Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) was performed.Results: The CATI-C includes 35 items of two factors and six dimensions. CFA demonstrated that the fit index of the structure of the scale was good (Satorra-Bentler chi-square/degrees of freedom [S-Bχ2 /df] = 2.406, Standardized Root Mean Square Residual [SRMR] = 0.038, Root Mean Square Error of Approximation [RMSEA] = 0.037, Comparative Fit Index [CFI] = 0.929, Tucker-Lewis Index [TLI] = 0.917). The convergent validity examined based on the Autism Spectrum Quotient total score was satisfactory (r = 0.54). The internal consistency reliability of social factor, non-social factor, and total scores were 0.87, 0.85, and 0.90. The test-retest reliability was 0.80. A cut-off score of 115 provided optimal sensitivity and specificity for the CATI-C (sensitivity = 0.926, specificity = 0.781, and Youden’s index = 0.707).Conclusion: The CATI-C has satisfactory reliability and validity in measuring autistic traits. It showed a good model fit for social and non-social second-order bifactors and measurement invariance across gender.Keywords: comprehensive autistic trait inventory, psychometrics, measurement invariance

The association between DFS in ECs and ER/PR expression (intensity, proportion and summed score) was assessed using Cox regression analysis. Gene expression data were obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas research network (TCGA).Results: According to inclusion criteria, 201 type I and 144 type II EC patients were enrolled in this study. In the univariate analysis of type I endometrial carcinoma, the intensity, proportion and summed score of ER/PR status were significantly correlated with DFS. After adjusting for factors known to significantly impact survival, the influence of ER/PR status on DFS is generally decreased but the correlation is still significant. In the univariate analysis of type II endometrial carcinoma, the intensity, proportion and summed score of ER/PR status were significantly correlated with DFS. After adjusting for factors known to significantly impact survival, the influence of ER status on DFS is generally decreased, but the correlation is still significant, the effect of PR expression on DFS is not statistically significant.Conclusion: Higher ER/PR expression status was associated with better DFS in patients with type I endometrial cancer after adjusting for known factors that significantly affect survival. In patients with type II endometrial cancer, patients with positive ER expression were significantly associated with better DFS. Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD), caused by mutations in the dystrophin gene, is associated with severe cardiac complications including cardiomyopathy and cardiac arrhythmias. Recent research suggests that impaired voltage-gated ion channels in dystrophic cardiomyocytes accompany cardiac pathology. It is, however, unknown if the ion channel defects are primary effects of dystrophic gene mutations, or secondary effects of the developing cardiac pathology.To address this question, we first investigated sodium channel impairments in cardiomyocytes derived from dystrophic neonatal mice prior to cardiomyopahty development, by using the whole cell patch clamp technique. Besides the most common model for DMD, the dystrophin-deficient mdx mouse, we also used mice additionally carrying an utrophin mutation. In neonatal cardiomyocytes, dystrophin-deficiency generated a 25% reduction in sodium current density. In addition, extra utrophin-deficiency significantly altered sodium channel gating parameters. Moreover, also calcium channel inactivation was considerably reduced in dystrophic neonatal cardiomyocytes, suggesting that ion channel abnormalities are universal primary effects of dystrophic gene mutations. To assess developmental changes, we also studied sodium channel impairments in cardiomyocytes derived from dystrophic adult mice, and compared them with the respective abnormalities in dystrophic neonatal cells. Here, we found a much stronger sodium current reduction in adult cardiomyocytes. The described sodium channel impairments slowed the upstroke of the action potential in adult cardiomyocytes, and only in dystrophic adult mice, the QRS interval of the electrocardiogram was prolonged.Ion channel impairments precede pathology development in the dystrophic heart, and may thus be considered potential cardiomyopathy triggers.

Xanthophytum antoanense is described as a new species endemic to Central Vietnam. It is morphologically closest to X. capitatum in having setose hairs on the abaxial leaf surface and a pedunculate head-like inflorescence but differs from the latter by a number of characteristics: shorter stem, 3-lobed stipules, narrowly lanceolate leaf blades with a cuneate-oblique base and 20–22 pairs of secondary veins, 3.5–4.5 cm long peduncle, spatulate calyx lobes, larger corollas with a 5–5.4 mm long tube and 2.4–3 mm long lobes, and an apically hairy style. A detailed description, an illustration, and information on distribution, ecology and phenology, and a provisional assessment of the conservation status of the new species are provided.

Periodontitis is an inflammatory disease caused by bacterial biofilms, which leads to the destruction of periodontal tissue. Current treatments, such as mechanical cleaning and antibiotics, struggle to effectively address the persistent biofilms, inflammation, and tissue damage. A new approach involves developing a Janus nanomotor (J-CeM@Au) by coating cerium dioxide-doped mesoporous silica (CeM) with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs). This nanomotor exhibits thermophoretic motion when exposed to near-infrared (NIR) laser light due to the temperature gradient produced by the photothermal effects of asymmetrically distributed AuNPs. The NIR laser provides the energy for propulsion and activates the nanomotor's antibacterial properties, allowing it to penetrate biofilms and kill bacteria. Additionally, the nanomotor's ability to scavenge reactive oxygen species (ROS) can modulate the immune response and create a regenerative environment, promoting the healing of periodontal tissue. Overall, this multifunctional nanomotor offers a promising new approach for treating periodontitis by simultaneously addressing biofilm management and immune modulation with autonomous movement.

Diospyros mun A.Chev. ex Lecomte (Ebenaceae), a native evergreen tree in Vietnam, has important economic and ecological values. The absence of effective and reliable molecular markers has hampered the study of D. mun’s genetic diversity and population structure, even though it is an endemic and endangered species. Therefore, significant enrichment of genomic resources is urgently needed to uncover and better understand the genetic architecture of D. mun. This study aims to demonstrate an efficient and reliable tool to explore the polymorphism within D. mun germplasm. It provides a valuable platform for the breeding and conservation of this species and other endangered species worldwide. The Illumina HiSeq™ 4000 sequencing technology was applied for the transcriptomic analysis, genetic differentiation and population structure of D. mun in Vietnam. In this study, the transcriptomes of D. mun were analysed using the Illumina HiSeqTM 4000 sequencing system and a total of 5,588,615,700 base pairs were generated. De novo assembly indicated that 91,134 unigenes were generated (average length = 645.55 bp, N50 = 957 bp, Q20 = 98.08% and Q30 = 94.51%). A total of 92,798 and 21,134 unigenes had significant similarities amongst Nr and Swiss-Prot, respectively. In the GO database, 19,929 unigenes were annotated and these genes were divided into three major categories and 50 subcategories. In the KOG analysis, 18,499 unigenes were annotated and divided into 25 gene function categories. In the KEGG analysis, 12,017 unigenes were annotated. According to the related pathways involved, they could be classified into 56 subclasses. In this study, we have identified a total of 9,391 EST-SSR markers. Ten microsatellite loci were employed to assess the genetic diversity and structure of 82 adult D. mun trees across three populations in Vietnam. The results indicated moderate levels of genetic diversity with PIC = 0.77, NA = 3.9, NE = 2.8, Ho = 0.56 and HE = 0.58 and the fixation index value was recorded as positive for three populations (NS, NH and CP). Genetic differentiation among populations was low (FST = 0.045), suggesting limited gene flow (Nm = 5.34). This result indicates gene exchange between the populations of ancient D. mun from different geographical areas and regions. The analysis of molecular variance (AMOVA) showed that high genetic variation existed within individuals (91%) compared to amongst populations (4%). Genetic structure analysis, DAPC and the NJ tree indicated that the three populations were divided into three main clusters. With this study, we provide a molecular resoureces for the breeding and conservation of D. mun.

Abstract Understanding the interface between nanomaterials and lipoproteins is crucial for gaining insights into their impact on lipoprotein structure and lipid metabolism. Here, we use graphene oxide (GOs) nanosheets as a controlled carbon nanomaterial model to study how surface properties influence lipoprotein corona formation and show that GOs have strong binding affinity with low-density lipoprotein (LDL). We use advanced techniques including X-ray reflectivity, circular dichroism, and molecular simulations to explore the interfacial interactions between GOs and LDL. Specifically, hydrophobic GOs preferentially associate with LDL’s lipid components, whereas hydrophilic GOs tend to bind with apolipoproteins. Furthermore, these GOs distinctly modulate a variety of lipid metabolism pathways, including LDL recognition, uptake, hydrolysis, efflux, and lipid droplet formation. This study underscores the importance of structure analysis at the nano-biomolecule interface, emphasizing how nanomaterials’ surface properties critically influence cellular lipid metabolism. These insights will inspire the design and application of future biocompatible nanomaterials and nanomedicines.

Identifying precise egg attachment areas and tracking trends of spawning magnitude (total amount of spawned eggs) are critical for accurate habitat assessment and effective conservation efforts, especially for lithophilic spawning fishes. However, accurate measurement of spawning conditions across both spatial and temporal dimensions poses significant challenges. We conducted a fourteen-year field study below the Gezhouba Dam, the main spawning ground for the Chinese sturgeon, using Kernel Density Estimation (KDE) method and Catch per Unit of Effort (CPUE) to refine knowledge on egg attachment areas relative to previous assessments. In addition, our analysis documented shifts in spawning locations within these four areas over the past fourteen years, revealing a worrying trend of decreasing spawning magnitude. This approach not only enabled the incorporation of the density distribution of eggs into the assessment of spawning magnitude trends, but also underscored the potential of the KDE as a framework for identifying egg attachment areas and estimating spawning magnitude trends. Our results provide valuable insights into spawning degradation of Chinese sturgeon and inform conservation strategies to protect their fragile spawning grounds.

Lung cancer remains a leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally, with its incidence steadily rising each year, representing a significant threat to human health. Early detection, diagnosis, and timely treatment play a crucial role in improving survival rates and reducing mortality. In recent years, significant and rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) technology have found successful applications in various clinical areas, especially in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer. AI not only improves the efficiency and accuracy of physician diagnosis but also aids in patient treatment and management. This comprehensive review presents an overview of fundamental AI-related algorithms and highlights their clinical applications in lung nodule detection, lung cancer pathology classification, gene mutation prediction, treatment strategies, and prognosis. Additionally, the rapidly advancing field of AI-based three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction in lung cancer surgical resection is discussed. Lastly, the limitations of AI and future prospects are addressed.

Abstract Objective The present study aims to explore the influencing factors of the scientific fitness literacy of nurses and provide a strategic basis for literacy improvement. Methods A questionnaire on the influencing factors of scientific fitness literacy of nurses was designed by the group conducting the present study; the questionnaire was based on the socioecology model and the questionnaire preparation method. The general data questionnaire and the questionnaire on the influencing factors of scientific fitness literacy of nurses were adopted to investigate nurses in tertiary hospitals in order to analyze and discuss the influencing factors of their scientific fitness literacy. Results (1) The questionnaire on the influencing factors of the scientific fitness literacy of nurses comprised five dimensions and 36 items. The overall item-content validity index was 0.833–1.000, the scale-content validity index was 0.974, and the overall Cronbach’s α coefficient was 0.955; (2) the results of the pairwise Pearson correlation analysis showed that all five dimensions were positively correlated with the scientific fitness literacy of nurses; and (3) the results of the multiple linear regression analysis revealed that five dimensions, as well as the existence of exercise habits in daily life, had a significant impact on the scientific fitness literacy of nurses (P

Objective Neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a serious intestinal inflammatory disease. We investigated intestinal fatty acid binding protein (I-FABP), I-FABP mRNA, and interleukin-6 (IL-6) as potential diagnostic biomarkers in NEC. Methods Forty mice were subjected to hypoxic-ischemic intestinal injury, and then serum I-FABP protein and mRNA levels were quantified. Ileal tissue pathological scores were determined by hematoxylin and eosin staining. I-FABP expression levels and translocation in these tissues were detected using western blotting and immunofluorescence, respectively. Samples from 30 human neonates with NEC and 30 healthy neonates had serum I-FABP protein/mRNA and IL-6 levels measured. Results The mouse ileal tissue pathological score and I-FABP levels, as well as serum I-FABP and I-FABP mRNA levels, were significantly higher in the model group than in the control group. Serum I-FABP, I-FABP mRNA, and IL-6 levels were significantly higher in human neonates with NEC than in the healthy group. Logistic regression and receiver operating curve analyses revealed that I-FABP protein/mRNA and IL-6 levels could be diagnostic biomarkers for NEC. Conclusions I-FABP protein/mRNA and IL-6 levels are useful biomarkers of intestinal ischemic injury in neonates with NEC. The combined detection of I-FABP protein/mRNA and IL-6 is recommended rather than using a single biomarker.

Typhonium obtusum is described as a new species endemic to Vietnam. It is unique in the genus in having an oblong-elliptic spathe limb with an obtuse apex and yellowish-greenish filiform staminodes with a down-curved acumen. The ecology, distribution and assessment of the conservation status of the new taxon, as well as a key to all known Typhonium species in Vietnam, are provided.

Detecting two-dimensional (2D) materials in silicon chips presents a significant challenge in the field of quantum machines due to the difficulty of data collection. Specifically, among thousands of flakes, not all flakes are useful or well-annotated, resulting in noisy and hard samples within the dataset, which challenges the deep neural network (DNN) to learn. To address this problem, we propose a novel method for identifying quantum 2D flakes even when there is a high rate of missing annotations in the input images. In particular, we first propose a new mechanism for automatically detecting false negative flakes that are missing annotations. Second, we introduce an attention-based loss function to mitigate the negative impact of these unannotated flakes on the DNNs. The experimental results demonstrate that our method outperforms previous approaches.

The common causes of rectovaginal fistula include obstetric trauma, local infection, and rectal surgery, while rectovaginal fistula following hemorrhoid surgery is extremely rare. Rectovaginal fistulae (RVF) rarely heal without intervention. Surgical treatment is usually performed, but the optimal surgical method remains controversial. The patient was a 37-year-old woman who was transferred to our hospital due to an unsuccessful repair of a rectovaginal fistula after hemorrhoid surgery in a local hospital. The next day after admission, she had prophylactic ileostomy, fecal diversion and combined treatment with cephalosporin antibiotic to create a clean postoperative area. However, there was still fecal outflow from the vagina, with no significant reduction in excretion compared to previous surgery. Digestive endoscopy confirmed a failure of the repair for rectovaginal fistula. Therefore, preventive ileostomy was continued to reduce the accumulation of bacteria in the fistula and control the inflammation. After 8 weeks, the endoscopic fistula inflammation disappeared, and the condition of endoscopic surgery was considered to be mature. Subsequently, a new surgical method combining transanal endoscopy and transvaginal endoscopy was performed. After 12 weeks of surgery, a follow-up endoscopic examination showed that the fistula had been repaired and healed. During the 1-year follow-up, no serious complication was encountered, no recurrence was found, and the repair effect was satisfactory. In conclusion, a new technique combining transanal endoscopy and transvaginal endoscopy can effectively be used for the surgical repair of rectovaginal fistula after a hemorrhoid operation.

Illegal mining, including the violation of lease boundaries during the extraction of mineral deposits in Vietnam, has witnessed a significant surge in recent years, leading to substantial environmental degradation. Due to the remote locations of mining areas in relation to settlements, the detection of illegal mining activities using conventional methods poses considerable challenges. This study presents a methodology for identifying lease boundary violations in open-pit mining of mineral deposits by utilizing high-resolution satellite images from the Sentinel-2 MSI system. The proposed methodology involves overlaying Sentinel-2 MSI radar-acquired satellite images to identify disparities between approved lease boundaries and actual boundaries of mining areas. The research focuses on the mineral-rich provinces of Lao Cai and Yen Bai in North Vietnam. The findings of this research rhold great potential for effectively monitoring and promptly detecting violations of mining lease boundaries.

This paper introduces an innovative design for a laser-based apparatus employing diffractive beam sampling technology, with the primary purpose of characterizing vibration frequencies induced within large-scale bridges. The functioning principle of the device hinges upon its ability to discern minute alterations in the relative positions of a subset of the laser beam, resulting from the oscillatory behavior of a laser pendulum mechanism. The captured dynamic variations are seamlessly integrated into a real-time monitoring framework through the utilization of an adept image sensor, complemented by sophisticated software functionalities. Noteworthy for its amalgamation of straightforward implementation and remarkable precision, the proposed methodology stands as a potent instrument poised to ensure the secure and robust surveillance of the structural well-being of large-scale bridges.

Prior investigations have primarily focused on the impact of L-arabinose on gut microbiota, with limited exploration into the dual mechanisms of L-arabinose on microbiota and metabolism both in vivo and in vitro. Thus, this study aimed to elucidate the anti-inflammatory effects of 5 % L-arabinose under different diet in mice. Additionally, a colon simulation system (CDMN) with utilizing 1.72 % (w/v) L-arabinose in the lumen and mucus layers, to provide further insights into the underlying mechanisms. The results revealed that L-arabinose significantly altered the gut microbiome structure, particularly elevating Bifidobacterium and short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) both in vivo and in vitro. Subsequent in vitro experiments confirmed that L-arabinose increased the relative abundance of SCFAs-producing bacteria, facilitated linoleic acid metabolism, and enhanced downstream metabolites (12,13-DHOME, 9,10-DHOME), potentially mediated by Bifidobacterium in the descending colon. These findings underscore the role of L-arabinose in modulating intestinal flora and metabolism, thereby promoting intestinal and body health.

How to inhibit the formation of point defects in the preparation process of hybrid perovskite for improving the stability and photovoltaic characteristics has been a hot research issue in recent years. Herein, molecular engineering of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) is focused as a Lewis base for an additive to improve the interface matching of hybrid perovskite solar cells. Based on the molecular binding strategy, the film crystallinity, bond binding, interfacial transport, and water resistance can be effectively regulated, resulting in preferred photovoltaic characteristics. Herein, the highest photoelectric conversion efficiency of perovskite solar cells reaches 19.7% as well as the improved stability of solar cells. Moreover, combined with first‐principles calculation, the mechanism of PVP macromolecules inducing perovskite interfacial binding through molecular engineering is revealed, which provides a feasible route for using organic macromolecules to regulate the crystallinity and photovoltaic characteristics of hybrid perovskite devices.

Abstract In this study, the yield of exopolysacchrides (LCEPS) produced by Leuconostoc citreum BH10 was optimized through the improvement of fermentation conditions. A three-level four-factor central composite design coupled with response surface methodology was employed to elucidate the interactions among four design variables, namely fermentation time (X1), fermentation temperature (X2), sucrose concentration (X3), and inoculation amount (X4) over a broad range of process conditions and determine their effects on LCEPS production. Based on the developed models, under the optimum process conditions of 49.99 h, 25.59 °C, 21.66, and 3.00%, the obtained maximum production of LCEPS was up to 55.96 g/L. Besides, the produced LCEPS presented better thermal stability than the original dextran and rendered finely emulsifying properties compared with commercial emulsifiers. Moreover, the LCEPS possessed good antioxidant activities and showed certain biofilm inhibition against Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 strain, which indicated that it has fine potential to be used as an excellent additive into the food industry.
