The prediction of physical ability is a key point to understand the physical training effect of college students. This paper uses the error Back Propagation neural network algorithms to investigate the college students' physical test results, and predicts the future trends of the results. The findings indicate that, in future ten years, the physical test grades of both men and women will slip to a certain extent. It implies that the indicators of speed, power, endurance level and physical strength of college students keep going down. This phenomenon should be paid attention to. It is necessary to strength the exercise consciousness, and stimulates the enthusiasm of students' exercise.

Functionally gradient triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) structures are found widespread applications in fields such as aerospace and defense engineering, owing to flexible modulation of lightweight and energy-absorbing properties. CoCrNi medium-entropy alloy (MEA), combining both high strength and ductility, which can significantly enhance the energy absorption efficiency and resistance to failure deformation of complex energy-absorbing structures. In this study, CoCrNi uniform and functionally gradient structures based on Gyroid and Diamond topologies were designed and manufactured via selective laser melting (SLM) technique. The quasi-static and dynamic mechanical performance, deformation behavior, and energy absorption properties of each structure were investigated by universal testing machine and Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) system. Additionally, based on experimental validation, the Johnson-Cook constitutive model for SLM-ed CoCrNi was successfully developed and applied to finite element analysis (FEA) predictions. Notably, it is found that the multi-level absorbing feature of hybrid gradient (HG) provides new insights for the design of energy-absorbing structures, as its lower initial platform triggering threshold and multi-level hardening behavior align with the layer-by-layer collapse deformation of the structure. By integrating appropriate parameter mapping, the mechanical properties can be predicted and regulated more flexibly, thereby paving the way for novel high-performance energy-absorbing structures.

Abstract Permafrost is a potentially important source of deglacial carbon release alongside deep-sea carbon outgassing. However, limited proxies have restricted our understanding in circumarctic regions and the last deglaciation. Tibetan Plateau (TP), the Earth’s largest low-latitude and alpine permafrost region, remains underexplored. Using speleothem growth phases, we reconstruct TP permafrost thawing history over the last 500,000 years, standardizing chronology to investigate Northern Hemisphere permafrost thawing patterns. We find that, unlike circumarctic permafrost, TP permafrost generally initiates thawing at the onset of deglaciations, coinciding with Weak Monsoon Intervals and sluggish Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC) during Terminal Stadials. Modeling elaborates that the associated Asian monsoon weakening induces anomalous TP warming through local cloud–precipitation–soil moisture feedback. This, combined with high-latitude cooling, results in asynchronous boreal permafrost thawing. During the last deglaciation, however, anomalous AMOC variability delayed TP and advanced circumarctic permafrost thawing. Our results indicate that permafrost carbon release, influenced by millennial-scale AMOC variability, may have been a non-trivial contributor to deglacial CO2 rise.

Abstract The lack of high-efficiency platinum (Pt)-based nanomaterials remains a formidable and exigent challenge in achieving high formic acid oxidation reaction (FAOR) and membrane electrode assembly (MEA) catalysis for direct formic acid fuel cell (DFAFC) technology. Herein, we report 16 Pt-based heterophase nanotrepang with rare earth (RE)-doped face-centered cubic Pt (fcc-Pt) and trigonal Pt-tellurium (t-PtTe2) configurations ((RE-Pt)-PtTe2 HPNT). Yttrium (Y) is identified as the optimal dopant, existing as single sites and clusters on the surface. The (Y-Pt)-PtTe2 HPNT/C demonstrates the superior mass and specific activities of 6.4 A mgPt −1 and 5.4 mA cm-2, outperforming commercial Pt/C by factors of 49.2 and 25.7, respectively. Additionally, it achieves a normalized MEA power density of 485.9 W gPt −1, tripling that of Pt/C. Density functional theory calculations further reveal that Y doping enhances HCOO* intermediate adsorption and suppresses CO intermediate formation, thereby promoting FAOR kinetics. This work highlights the role of RE metals in heterostructure regulation of Pt-based anodic nanomaterials for achieving the efficient direct formic acid electrocatalysis.

Abstract Dechroming techniques with a low degree of collagen hydrolysis and a high degree of dechroming are more suitable for the resource utilization of chrome shavings. However, achieving efficient simultaneous separation of chromium and collagen fibers is challenging because swollen collagen fibers absorb a large amount of chromium-containing water and are prone to hydrolysis after dechroming. This study investigated the correlation between the swelling inhibition of collagen fibers and the extent of dechroming and optimized the process parameters. The results demonstrated that the incorporation of neutral salt significantly increased the rate of dechroming and reduced the degree of collagen hydrolysis. The optimized alkali-acid-washing process was as follows: soaking in a Na2SO4 solution (4%, w/w), dechroming with a NaOH solution at pH 13.5, rapidly adjusting the pH of reactants to 1.0 with an H2SO4 solution, pressure filtration, washing the filtered residue with 5% Na2SO4 solution (w/w) at pH 1.0, followed by pressure filtration. After two cycles of the alkali-acid-washing process, the filtered residue was washed with an oxalic acid-Na2SO4 solution (5%, w/w) and pressure-filtered again. The chromium content of recovered collagen was reduced to 34.0 mg/kg. The degree of collagen hydrolysis was confined to 9% with the fiber morphology completely retained. The wastewater chromium content was reduced to 0.4 mg/L after the simple precipitation, meeting the direct discharge requirement. The recycled chrome was utilized as chrome-tanning agent. These results suggested that the established method could be a promising resource reutilization route for the sustainable development of the leather industry. Graphical abstract

Abstract Background In China, research on the mental health of transgender populations is increasingly prevalent; however, there is a lack of localized psychological measurement tools that align with the characteristics of this population. The Transgender Congruence Scale (TCS) is widely used internationally. This study aims to assess the reliability, validity, and psychometric characteristics of the Chinese version of the TCS among the Chinese transgender sample. Methods A total of 264 participants with a mean age of 24.88 (SD = 5.91) were recruited from October 2023 to January 2024. They completed the Chinese version of the TCS, the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS), and the Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21). Confirmatory factor analysis of the TCS was performed using IBM SPSS Amos 28 software to assess the construct validity. Reliability, convergent validity, and measurement invariance analysis were also evaluated. Results The reliability coefficients of the revised 9-item TCS were satisfactory (Cronbach’s α = 0.85, McDonald’s ω = 0.87). The two-factor model of the instrument was supported (χ 2 (26) = 52.525, p = 0.002, CFI = 0.979, TLI = 0.971, SRMR = 0.052, RMSEA = 0.062 [90% CI = 0.037, 0.086]). Abstract Lung cancer, particularly adenocarcinoma, ranks high in morbidity and mortality rates worldwide, with a relatively low five-year survival rate. To achieve precise prognostic assessment and clinical intervention for patients, thereby enhancing their survival prospects, there is an urgent need for more accurate stratification schemes. Currently, the TNM staging system is predominantly used in clinical practice for prognostic evaluation, but its accuracy is constrained by the reliance on physician experience. Although biomarker discovery based on molecular pathology offers a new perspective for prognostic assessment, its dependence on expensive gene panel testing limits its widespread clinical application. Pathological images contain abundant diagnostic information, providing a new avenue for prognostic evaluation. In this study, we employed advanced Hover-Net technology to accurately quantify the abundance of epithelial cells, lymphocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils from pathological images, and delved into the clinical and biological significance of these cellular abundances. Our research findings reveal that, in contrast to patients classified as N0 stage, those belonging to the N1 stage demonstrated a marked elevation in the infiltration of epithelial cells, lymphocytes, macrophages, and neutrophils. Notably, the infiltration patterns of lymphocytes and neutrophils exhibited an inverse relationship with the activation status of numerous pivotal gene pathways, including the HALLMARK_HEME_METABOLISM pathway. Furthermore, our analysis distinguished FABP7 as a prognostic biomarker, exhibiting pronounced differential expression between patients with high and low levels of neutrophil infiltration, indicate that cellular abundance analysis based on pathological images can provide a more accurate and cost-effective prognostic evaluation, offering new strategies for the clinical management of lung adenocarcinoma.

Abstract Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) are significant global health issues. This study utilized data from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021 to analyze trends in incidence, prevalence, and Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALY) associated with HDP across 204 countries from 1990 to 2021. The analysis employed estimated annual percentage changes and an age-period-cohort model, stratifying data by age, year, geographical region, and sociodemographic index (SDI). Statistical analyses and visualizations were conducted using R. Between 1990 and 2021, global HDP incidence rose from 31.33 million to 36.10 million cases (15.24%), while prevalence surged from 6.15 million to 36.10 million cases (487%). Despite the increase in absolute cases, the age-standardized rates for incidence and prevalence exhibited only modest changes, with incidence up by 15.23% and prevalence slightly declining. Regions with high and high-middle SDI showed decreasing trends, whereas middle, low-middle, and low SDI regions faced rising trends. DALYs linked to HDP decreased from 6.96 million in 1990 to 4.94 million in 2021, with significant reductions in high SDI areas. Projections indicate a continued decrease in the global burden of HDP by 2040. The study concludes that continued efforts in prenatal care and health education are vital, particularly in low SDI regions, to mitigate the impact of HDP.

Abstract Cerasus is a subgenus of Prunus in the family Rosaceae that is popular owing to its ornamental, edible, and medicinal properties. Understanding the evolution of the Cerasus subgenus and identifying selective trait loci in edible cherries are crucial for the improvement of cherry cultivars to meet producer and consumer demands. In this study, we performed a de novo assembly of a chromosome-scale genome for the sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.) cultivar ‘Burlat’, covering 297.55 Mb and consisting of eight chromosomes with 33,756 protein-coding genes. The resequencing and population structural analysis of 384 Cerasus representative accessions revealed that they could be divided into four groups (Group 1, Group 2, Group 3, and Group 4). We inferred that Group 1 was the oldest population and Groups 2, 3, and 4 were clades derived from it. In addition, we found selective sweeps for fruit flavor and improved stress resistance in different varieties of edible cherries (P. avium, P. cerasus, and P. pseudocerasus). Transcriptome analysis revealed significant differential expression of genes associated with key pathways, such as sucrose starch and sucrose metabolism, fructose and mannose metabolism, and the pentose phosphate pathway, between the leaves and fruits of P. avium. This study enhances the understanding of the evolutionary processes of the Cerasus subgenus and provides resources for functional genomics research and the improvement of edible cherries.

Abstract Background Pulmonary space-occupying lesions are typical chronic pulmonary diseases that contribute significantly to healthcare resource use and impose a large disease burden in China. A time-series ecological trend study was conducted to investigate the associations between environmental factors and hospitalizations for pulmonary space-occupying lesions in North of China from 2014 to 2022. Methods The DLNM was used to quantify the association of environmental factors with lung cancer admissions. The heating-, age-, gender-, malignancy-specific effects were further estimated to identify the susceptible groups. Results During the study period, fluctuations in air pollutants and climate conditions closely mirrored changes in hospitalizations for pulmonary space-occupying lesions. Totally, the distributed lag surface showed clear positive associations between pulmonary tumor hospitalization and PM2.5 (RRlag30: 1.000912; 95%CI: 1.000076, 1.00175), PM10 (RRlag30: 1.002246; 95%CI: 1.000474, 1.004021), SO2 (RRlag30: 1.002714; 95%CI: 1.001071, 1.004414), CO (RRlag30: 1.002231; 95%CI: 1.000592, 1.003873). Additionally, the associations between air pollutants and hospitalizations for pulmonary space-occupying lesions were significantly stronger during the heating season. Population aged 65 or older, females and those diagnosed with malignancies were more vulnerable for the risk of pulmonary space-occupying lesions diseases due to air pollution exposure. Conclusions The present study illustrated risk and burden for pulmonary space-occupying lesions hospitalization associated with air pollution, especially among population aged ≥ 65, or female.

Abstract In this paper, we first give an example to show that Theorem 1 in Hung and Yang (Inf Sci 178(6):1641–1650, 2008) does not hold, implying that the J-divergence introduced by Hung and Yang does not satisfy the axiomatic definition of intuitionistic fuzzy divergence measure. Inspired by this, a new Jensen–Shannon divergence measure for intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFSs) is introduced and some basic properties for this new divergence measure are obtained. In particular, this divergence measure, and its induced similarity measure, and induced entropy measure satisfy the axiomatic definitions of divergence, similarity, and entropy for IFSs. Based on our proposed divergence measure, entropy measure, and entropy-weight method, a new TOPSIS method is introduced to deal with multi-attribute decision making (MADM) problems under the intuitionistic fuzzy framework. Finally, a practical example on the credit evaluation of potential strategic partners and a comparative analysis with other TOPSIS methods is developed to illustrate the efficiency of the proposed TOPSIS method.

The expansion tube plays a crucial role in the field of train collision safety protection. In this study, we combine the expansion characteristics of negative Poisson’s ratio (NPR) with the deformation mechanism of the expansion tube to propose a novel design for material reconstruction: embedding NPR structures into the conventional expansion tube wall. The typical specimens of NPR tube were fabricated using additive manufacturing technology, and the experiments and numerical simulations were conducted to investigate its expansion behavior by two expansion cones with different sizes. By employing a validated numerical simulation model, the effects of cone size, expansion angle, wall thickness, and material gradient design on the mechanical response of NPR tubes were investigated. It is demonstrated that the expansion behavior and energy absorption mechanism of NPR tubes differ from that of conventional circular tube. The material of wall generates radial expansion rather than compression due to a special auxeticity characteristics subjected to circumferential tensile load. The increased normal pressure on the inner surface from the expansion cone results in the resistance reinforcement of NPR tube. The proposed expansion tube achieves higher load capacity while utilizing less material, which provides a promising approach for designing lightweight and efficient expandable tubes.

By considering the thermo poroelastic effects of rock, the constitutive relationship of fatigue deterioration of rock under cyclic loading, elastic-brittle failure criteria and wellbore stress superposition effects, a thermal-hydraulic-mechanical- fatigue damage coupled model for fracture propagation during soft hydraulic fracturing in hot dry rock (HDR) was established and validated. Based on this model, numerical simulations were conducted to investigate the fracture initiation and propagation characteristics in HDR under the combined effects of different temperatures and cyclic loading. The results are obtained in three aspects. First, cyclic injection, fluid infiltration, pore pressure accumulation, and rock strength deterioration collectively induce fatigue damage of rocks during soft hydraulic fracturing. Second, the fracture propagation pattern of soft hydraulic fracturing in HDR is jointly controlled by temperature difference and cyclic loading. A larger temperature difference generates stronger thermal stress, facilitating the formation of complex fracture networks. As cyclic loading decreases, the influence range of thermal stress expands. When the cyclic loading is 90%pb and 80%pb (where pb is the breakdown pressure during conventional hydraulic fracturing), the stimulated reservoir area increases by 88.33% and 120%, respectively, compared to conventional hydraulic fracturing (with an injection temperature of 25 °C). Third, as cyclic loading is further reduced, the reservoir stimulation efficiency diminishes. When the cyclic loading decreases to 70%pb, the fluid pressure far away from the wellbore cannot reach the minimum breakdown pressure of the rock, resulting in no macroscopic hydraulic fractures.

Abstract Objective To assess the utility of multiparametric MRI and clinical indicators in distinguishing nuclear grade and survival of clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) complicated with venous tumor thrombus (VTT). Materials and methods This study included 105 and 27 patients in the training and test sets, respectively. Preoperative MRI, including intravoxel incoherent motion diffusion-weighted imaging (IVIM-DWI), was performed. Renal lesions were evaluated for IVIM-DWI metrics and conventional MRI features. All the patients had postoperative histologically proven ccRCC and VTT. An expert uropathologist reviewed all specimens to confirm the nuclear grade of the World Health Organization/ International Society of Urological Pathology (WHO/ISUP) of the tumor. Univariate and multivariable logistic regression analyses were used to select the preoperative imaging features and clinical indicators. The predictive ability of the logistic regression model was assessed using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis. Survival curves were plotted using the Kaplan–Meier method. Results High WHO/ISUP nuclear grade was confirmed in 69 of 105 patients (65.7%) in the training set and 19 of 27 patients (70.4%) in the test set, respectively (P = 0.647). Dp_ROI_Low, tumor size, serum albumin, platelet count, and lymphocyte count were independently related to high WHO/ISUP nuclear grade in the training set. The model identified high WHO/ISUP nuclear grade well, with an AUC of 0.817 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.735–0.899), a sensitivity of 70.0%, and a specificity of 77.8% in the training set. In the independent test set, the model demonstrated an AUC of 0.766 (95% CI, 0.567–0.966), a sensitivity of 79.0%, and a specificity of 75.0%. Kaplan–Meier analysis showed that the predicted high WHO/ISUP nuclear grade group had poorer progression-free survival than the low WHO/ISUP nuclear grade group in both the training and test sets (P = 0.001 and P = 0.021). Conclusions IVIM-DWI-derived parameters and clinical indicators can be used to differentiate nuclear grades and predict progression-free survival of ccRCC and VTT.

Abstract Purpose This study aimed to implement high-end positron emission tomography (PET) equipment to assist conventional PET equipment in improving image quality via a distribution learning-based diffusion model. Methods A diffusion model was first trained on a dataset of high-quality (HQ) images acquired by a high-end PET device (uEXPLORER scanner), and the quality of the conventional PET images was later improved on the basis of this trained model built on null-space constraints. Data from 180 patients were used in this study. Among them, 137 patients who underwent total-body PET/computed tomography scans via a uEXPLORER scanner at the Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center were retrospectively enrolled. The datasets of 50 of these patients were used to train the diffusion model. The remaining 87 cases and 43 PET images acquired from The Cancer Imaging Archive were used to quantitatively and qualitatively evaluate the proposed method. The nonlocal means (NLM) method, UNet and a generative adversarial network (GAN) were used as reference methods. Results The incorporation of HQ imaging priors derived from high-end devices into the diffusion model through network training can enable the sharing of information between scanners, thereby pushing the limits of conventional scanners and improving their imaging quality. The quantitative results showed that the diffusion model based on null-space constraints produced better and more stable results than those of the methods based on NLM, UNet and the GAN and is well suited for cross-center and cross-device imaging. Conclusion A diffusion model based on null-space constraints is a flexible framework that can effectively utilize the prior information provided by high-end scanners to improve the image quality of conventional scanners in cross-center and cross-device scenarios.

Abstract Due to the network planning of subways and their surrounding structures, increasingly more overlapping shields with a small curve radius have been constructed. A newly constructed upper tunnel partly overlaps a lower one, leading to the extremely complex uplift of the lower tunnel caused by the construction of a new tunnel. Based on the shield‐driven project that runs from the Qinghe Xiaoyingqiao Station to the Qinghe Station in Beijing, which adopts the reinforcement measures of interlayer soil grouting and steel supports on site, in this study, the uplift pattern of the lower tunnel and the stress characteristics of steel supports were investigated through numerical simulations and on‐site monitoring. The study results show that among all tunnel segments, the first segment of the shield witnesses a maximum uplift displacement that increases with the horizontal space between tunnels. On using either interlayer soil grouting or steel‐ring bracing reinforcement, the uplift of the tunnel lining exceeds the control value; by contrast, when these two measures are jointly applied, the uplift of the tunnel lining does not exceed a maximum value of 4.87 mm, which can satisfy the requirements of deformation control. Under these two joint measures, the soil strength between two stacked shield tunnels can be enhanced and the uplift deformation can be restricted with the interlayer soil grouting. Also, the segmental deformation and overall stability of the existing tunnel can be controlled with the temporary steel supports. The deformation of circumferential supports and segments is closely related to each other, and the segmental uplift is controlled by H‐shaped steel supports. With the increase in the horizontal space between twin shields, the effect of the construction would gradually weaken, accompanied by a gradual reduction of the stresses of steel supports. These findings provide a valuable reference for the engineering design and safe construction of overlapping shield tunnels with a small curve radius.

Sanhan Huashi formula (SHHS), a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), has shown significant therapeutic effects on coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in clinical settings. However, its specific mechanism and components still require further clarification. In vitro experiments with Vero-E6 cells infected with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) demonstrated that SHHS effectively inhibited viral invasion and proliferation. Complementary in vivo experiments using K18-human angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (hACE2) mice exposed to virus-like particles (VLPs) further confirmed that SHHS impeded SARS-CoV-2 entry. Although SHHS did not demonstrate direct antiviral effects in K18-hACE2 mice challenged with SARS-CoV-2, it significantly alleviated pathological damage and decreased the expression of chemokines such as C–C motif ligand (CCL)-2, CCL-3, C–X–C motif ligand (CXCL)-1, CXCL-6, CXCL-9, CXCL-10, and CXCL-11 in the lungs, suggesting that SHHS exerts immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effects via the CCL-2–CXCL axis. Additional research using a lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced acute lung injury (ALI) and RAW264.7 cell model validated the ability of SHHS to reduce the levels of inflammatory biomarkers, including interleukin (IL)-1β, IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). Using advanced analytical techniques such as ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography coupled with linear trap quadrupole Orbitrap mass spectrometry (UHPLC-LTQ-Orbitrap-MS) and surface plasmon resonance (SPR), nodakenin was identified as a potent antiviral component of SHHS that targets the 3C-like protease (3CLpro), a finding supported by the hydrogen–deuterium exchange mass spectrometry (HDX-MS) and molecular docking analyses. Furthermore, nodakenin demonstrated a significant antiviral effect, reducing the viral load by more than 66%. This investigation reveals that SHHS can combat COVID-19 by inhibiting viral invasion and promoting anti-inflammatory effects.

Abstract The transit signal priority, as an effective method to address public transport operation issues, has been widely applied. With the continuous advancement of connected technology, research on developing transit signal priority strategies using vehicle-to-everything technology is gaining increasing attention. However, current traffic signal priority studies primarily focus on optimizing bus speeds on dedicated bus lanes, neglecting the adverse impacts of private vehicle queuing on priority strategies, as well as the carbon emissions resulting from speed fluctuations. To more effectively evaluate the optimization effect of bus priority in the absence of dedicated bus lanes, this paper proposes a cooperative control method combining signal control and eco-driving speed guidance in a connected environment. The objective is to maximize the reduction in delays for both buses and private vehicles at intersections and optimize carbon emission reduction. Initially, an Extended Kalman Filter is employed to predict the arrival time of buses at intersections and the signal status. Building upon this, optimal timings for phase adjustments and the optimization bus trajectories are calculated using signal control and eco-driving speed guidance models. Then a Genetic Algorithm is used to solve the model. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed model is verified using Zhengzhou city as a case study and compared against scenarios involving NTSP, TSP, and speed guidance. The results demonstrate that, in the absence of dedicated bus lanes, the proposed method not only ensures the stability of bus operations but also achieves significant bus priority and carbon emission benefits while mitigating the adverse impact of bus priority on private vehicles to a certain extent.

Abstract To solve the problems of insufficient stiffness and poor integrity of traditional F-type socket joints, steel screw connections are set along the longitudinal direction between rectangular pipe jacking joints. However, the mechanical properties of F-type socket joints with steel screw connections have not been fully investigated, and the influence of the coefficient of subgrade reaction has not been considered. In this work, through model tests and numerical simulations of F-type socket joints with steel screws under different coefficients of subgrade reaction, the influence of steel screws on the deformation and damage characteristics of F-type socket joints is discussed, and the bending mechanical response of F-type socket joints under different coefficients of subgrade reaction is analyzed. Compared with traditional F-type socket joints, the use of steel screw connections can reduce the risk of steel ring warping and cross-sectional deformation of the joints and improve the stiffness and load-carrying capacity of the joints. However, the use of steel screw connections exacerbates damage to the chamfered parts of the jack joints. With an increase in the coefficient of subgrade reaction, the benefit of the steel screw on the joint stiffness gradually decreases. For every 0.5-fold increase in the coefficient of subgrade reaction, the effect of the steel screw on the joint bending load-carrying capacity of the joint is reduced by approximately 23%. The failure mode of joints containing steel screws is mainly the crushing of concrete in the compression zone, and the penetration cracks extend from the joint to the bottom of the pipe section. The higher the jacking force is, the higher the load-carrying capacity of the joint and the better the bending resistance.

Abstract Colorectal cancer significantly impacts patient quality of life and burdens healthcare systems globally. Fast-track surgery (FTS) aims to alleviate some of these impacts by expediting recovery and reduce the physiological stress associated with traditional surgical approaches. Despite the clinical efficiency of FTS, there exists a gap in the literature concerning patients’ subjective experiences during the perioperative period. This study seeks to fill that gap by qualitatively exploring the perioperative experiences of patients undergoing FTS for colorectal cancer, focusing on their emotional, psychological, and informational journeys. We purposively sampled 12 colorectal cancer patients. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis to uncover the emotional and psychological nuances of the patients’ experiences. Findings revealed that patients often felt under-informed and overwhelmed, impacting their psychological preparedness and satisfaction with the surgery. Despite FTS’ clinical benefits, patients reported mixed emotions post-surgery, including relief and ongoing anxiety about cancer recurrence. Our findings highlight the need for enhanced patient-centered care practices, suggesting that healthcare providers should integrate more effective preoperative education and support systems to better align clinical efficiency with patient satisfaction.

Abstract Diagnosing neurosyphilis in clinical settings poses significant challenges due to the absence of highly efficient diagnostic criteria. Our objective was to enhance the existing diagnostic criteria and assess their sensitivity and specificity for identifying neurosyphilis in HIV-negative patients. We conducted a retrospective review of patient records from a cross-sectional study carried out between December 2019 and May 2023. This study was designed to explore clinical practices in the diagnosis and treatment of neurosyphilis. We proposed and validated a new set of diagnostic criteria across 782 cases, comparing three different NS criteria for diagnostic efficiency. Among the 782 patients analyzed, 410 were diagnosed with neurosyphilis, while 372 were not. The newly developed NS criteria demonstrated a sensitivity of 99.5% and a specificity of 94.6%, with the added benefit of being user-friendly. In subgroups categorized by neurological symptoms and syphilis stages, the new NS criteria also exhibited high sensitivity and specificity. Statistical analyses confirmed that the novel NS criteria performed comparably well to the expanded NS criteria. The novel NS criteria for HIV-negative patients exhibited high sensitivity and specificity, proving to be both effective and convenient for physicians to implement.

ABSTRACT: To effectively assess the extent of the mycotoxin contamination of grapes, a method was developed to analyze 22 mycotoxins by ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole/orbitrap high-resolution mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-Orbitrap HRMS). Samples were extracted and purified using the QuEChERS (quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe) procedure. The extracts were separated on a BEH Shield C18 column (100 mm × 2.1 mm, 1.7 μm), using methanol and water with 0.1% formic acid solution and 2 mmol/L ammonium acetate as the mobile phases. The quantification was performed according to a matrix-matched external standard method. There was a good linear relationship within the respective mass concentration ranges of 22 mycotoxins; the correlation coefficients were not less than 0.998 1. The limit of quantification was 0.3–10.0 μg/kg. Mycotoxin recovery ranged from 68.6% to 109.0%, with a relative standard deviation of 1.28%–12.80%. The method is simple, rapid, highly sensitive, and accurate, making it useful for screening grapes for common and emerging mycotoxins.

Innovative strategies for managing deformation have been proposed based on insights from the Hohhot Urban Rail Transit's Line 2, where a large cross-sectional and straight-walled arch tunnel traverses the flank obliquely above and directly over an operational shield tunnel. These strategies involve implementing sandbag loading on both left and right drifts and progressively demolishing the CD (center diaphragm) method. Simulations have been conducted to comprehensively understand the deformation induced by constructing the large cross-sectional and straight-walled arch tunnel above the operational shield tunnel. These simulations have been complemented by on-site monitoring to authenticate the reliability of the simulated outcomes. The study findings underscore that the most effective deformation control entails applying a 2.0 m high sandbag load on the section directly above the operational left shield tunnel (spanning from trusses 49 th to 87th). This approach involves, for every alternate truss, the demolition of two consecutive trusses of CDs via an alternate bay construction method once the secondary lining is completed. The comparison between simulated and measured uplift reveals a notable alignment, with maximum uplift of the ballast bed and arch crown registering at 2.75 mm and 3.92 mm, respectively. The overall clearance convergence ranges from −2.69 mm to 1.50 mm, all within the prescribed control standards.

To address the issue of the difficulty in implementing non-invasive continuous blood pressure measurement technology in China, this study developed a high-performance synchronous electrocardiogram (ECG) and photoplethysmography (PPG) signal acquisition system. A PC-based human-computer interaction software platform was constructed, and continuous blood pressure measurement-related algorithms were integrated. Multiple feature parameters such as pulse wave transit time based on synchronous ECG and PPG signals were extracted, enabling non-invasive continuous blood pressure measurement. To verify the measurement accuracy of the system, tests and comparative verifications were carried out. The results demonstrated that the system could meet the requirements of relevant standards and have good application value.

Cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) refers to a method of measuring various indicators of the human body under gradually increasing exercise loads to objectively evaluate cardiopulmonary reserve function and exercise endurance. Currently, CPET detection systems primarily measure subjects' ECG, respiratory flow, oxygen (O2), and carbon dioxide (CO2) parameters. This paper introduces a non-invasive multi-parameter exercise cardiopulmonary function evaluation system that incorporates impedance cardiography monitoring. The system integrates impedance cardiography monitoring with conventional CPET detection parameters and detects changes in the hemodynamic parameters of the body during exercise, aiding in the evaluation of exercise capacity. Additionally, the system features a portable design with Wi-Fi wireless transmission, which enhances its applicability.

BackgroundChrysotile is widely used in construction and industry. Research has shown that it is associated with lung fibrosis in occupational groups, but the involvement of microRNAs (miRNAs) in chrysotile-induced lung fibrosis has been less well studied, and the specific mechanism is still unclear. ObjectiveUsing next-generation sequencing technology to analyze the effects of chrysotile exposure on the miRNAs expression profiles of human lung epithelial cells (BEAS-2B cells), to explore the variations of differentially expressed miRNAs and related signaling pathways, and to identify potential targets and molecular mechanisms of chrysotile-induced lung fibrosis. MethodsChrysotile was analyzed with a laser particle size analyzer and an X-ray diffractometer for particle size and physical phase. BEAS-2B cells were exposed to chrysotile for designed time sessions (12, 24, and 48 h) and doses (0, 50, 100, and 200 μg·mL−1). Cell viability was detected with a cell viability assay kit (CCK8); expression levels of Fibronectin, Collagen-Ⅰ, and α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) were detected by Western blot after exposure to 200 μg·mL−1 chrysotile for 24 h. Sample correlation and changes in miRNAs expression profiles between the chrysotile-exposed and the control groups were analyzed by next-generation sequencing technology. The target genes of differentially expressed miRNAs were predicted and subjected to Gene Ontology (GO) analysis and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis. ResultsThe average particle size of the chrysotile dust sample used in this study was 3.58 μm, and the results of X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed the characteristic peaks of chrysotile. Abstract Background Acetabular fractures typically require open surgery to restore hip joint function. Openness may lead to serious tissue damage, increased bleeding, and the risk of nerve and vascular damage. Minimally invasive closed reduction or percutaneous fixation aims to minimize additional harm to patients and provide reliable fixation to promote fracture recovery and functional rehabilitation. This study aimed to assess the radiographic and clinical effectiveness of pedicle screw external fixation as a definitive treatment approach for selective acetabular fractures. Methods The present study enrolled 43 patients with acetabular fractures who were categorized into three groups based on their definitive treatment plans: pedicle screw external fixation group, traditional external fixation stent fixation group, and open reduction internal fixation group, comparing the operative duration and the time required for fracture healing. Fracture reduction was evaluated using the Tornetta and Matta grading system, and postoperative clinical outcomes were analyzed using the Majeed score. Analyze three surgical methods by comparing clinical indicators and prognostic references. Results Among the 43 patients, there were 12 cases in the pedicle screw external fixation group, 14 cases in the traditional external fixation stent fixation group, and 17 cases in the open reduction internal fixation group. There were no significant differences in age, gender, injury mechanism, Injury Severity Score (ISS), or other demographic factors among the three groups. The reduction of fractures with internal fixation was significantly better than that with external fixation(p = 0.032). Operative duration and quality of reduction did not significantly differ between the pedicle screw external fixation group and the traditional external fixation stent fixation group. However, the pedicle screw external fixation group exhibited distinct advantages in postoperative quality of life (p = 0.041) and a lower incidence of loose fixing screws compared to the traditional external fixation stent fixation group. Conclusion Compared to traditional external fixation stent fixation, pedicle screw external fixation represents a superior definitive treatment option for acetabular fractures due to its stability and improved patient quality of life.

Abstract Background Activation of pericytes leads to renal interstitial fibrosis, but the regulatory mechanism of pericytes in the progression from AKI to CKD remains poorly understood. CD36 activation plays a role in the progression of CKD. However, the significance of CD36 during AKI-CKD, especially in pericyte, remains to be fully defined. Methods GEO and DISCO database were used to analyze the expression of CD36 in pericyte during AKI-CKD; IRI to conduct AKI-CKD mouse model; Hypoxia/Reoxygenation (H/R) to induce the cell model; RT-qPCR and Western blotting to detect gene expression; IP and confocal-IF to determine the core fucosylation (CF) level of CD36. Flow cytometry (AV/PI staining) to detect the cell apoptosis and JC-1 staining to react to the change of mitochondrial membrane potential. Results During AKI to CKD progression, CD36 expression in pericytes is higher and may be influenced by CF. Moreover, we confirmed the positive association of CD36 expression with pericyte-myofibroblast transition and the progression of AKI-CKD in an IRI mouse model and hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) pericytes. Notably, we discovered that FUT8 upregulates both CD36 expression and its CF level, contributing to the activation of the mitochondrial-dependent apoptosis signaling pathway in pericytes, ultimately leading to the progression of AKI-CKD. Conclusion These results further identify FUT8 and CD36 as potential targets for the treatment in the progression of AKI-CKD.

Abstract Non-equilibrium quantum transport is crucial to technological advances ranging from nanoelectronics to thermal management. In essence, it deals with the coherent transfer of energy and (quasi-)particles through quantum channels between thermodynamic baths. A complete understanding of quantum transport thus requires the ability to simulate and probe macroscopic and microscopic physics on equal footing. Using a superconducting quantum processor, we demonstrate the emergence of non-equilibrium steady quantum transport by emulating the baths with qubit ladders and realising steady particle currents between the baths. We experimentally show that the currents are independent of the microscopic details of bath initialisation, and their temporal fluctuations decrease rapidly with the size of the baths, emulating those predicted by thermodynamic baths. The above characteristics are experimental evidence of pure-state statistical mechanics and prethermalisation in non-equilibrium many-body quantum systems. Furthermore, by utilising precise controls and measurements with single-site resolution, we demonstrate the capability to tune steady currents by manipulating the macroscopic properties of the baths, including filling and spectral properties. Our investigation paves the way for a new generation of experimental exploration of non-equilibrium quantum transport in strongly correlated quantum matter.

Abstract Background and objective The femoral neck system (FNS) has been extensively studied and applied for the treatment of young patients with femoral neck fractures. The purpose of this study was to explore the biomechanical impact variations in reduction qualities on femoral neck fractures, considering factors such as tip-apex distance, the positioning of the bolt in the cortical corridor of the femoral neck, and bone mineral density. Materials and methods A randomly selected volunteer was recruited, whose clinical data on the femur were collected to establish finite element models for positive reduction, anatomical reduction, and negative reduction respectively. Based on the constructed models, different scenarios were established by varying the tip-apex distance, bone mineral density, and positioning of the bolt in the cortical corridor of the femoral neck. Under a vertical load of 2100 N, the displacement and Von Mises stress (VMS) distribution of each group of models were evaluated through simulation testing. Results Under a load of 2100 N, the maximum VMS values of the femoral neck system and femoral head was recorded during negative reduction, 968.85 MPa and 80.09 MPa respectively. In addition, factors influencing the negative reduction of FNS and the femoral head were identified to be the tip-apex distance > 10 mm, the presence of osteoporosis, and the bolt positioned in the lower-middle to the third part of the cortical corridor of the femoral neck. Conclusion The displacement and stress of negative reduction were greater than those of positive reduction and anatomical reduction when the tip-apex distance > 10 mm, and the bolt was situated in the lower-middle to the third part of the cortical corridor of the femoral neck, and in the presence of osteoporosis. This means that we recommend positive repositioning over negative repositioning when anatomical repositioning is not clinically feasible.

Abstract Comprehensive and non-invasive preoperative molecular diagnosis is important for prognostic and therapy decision-making in adult-type diffuse gliomas. We employed a deep learning method for automatic segmentation of brain gliomas directly from conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans of the tumor core and peritumoral edema regions based on available glioma MRI data provided in the BraTS2021. Three-dimensional volumes of interest were segmented from 424 cases of glioma imaging data retrospectively obtained from two medical centers using the segmentation method and radiomic features were extracted. We developed a subtype prediction model based on extracted radiomic features and analyzed significance and correlations between glioma morphological characteristics and pathological features using data from patients with adult-type diffuse glioma. The automated segmentation achieved mean Dice scores of 0.884 and 0.889 for the tumor core and whole tumor, respectively. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve for the prediction of adult-type diffuse gliomas subtypes was 0.945. “Glioblastoma, IDH-wildtype”, “Astrocytoma, IDH-mutant”, and “Oligodendroglioma, IDH-mutant, 1p/19q-coded” showed AUCs of 0.96, 0.914, and 0.961, respectively, for subtype prediction. Glioma morphological characteristics, molecular and pathological levels, and clinical data showed significant differences and correlations. An automatic segmentation model for gliomas based on 3D U-Nets was developed, and the prediction model for gliomas built using the parameters obtained from the automatic segmentation model showed high overall performance.

Abstract Background The metabolic response of primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) patients has yet to be evaluated. This study aimed to assess the prognostic value of a novel scoring scale, the intracranial metabolic score (IMS), in PCNSL patients receiving end-of-therapy 18F-FDG PET/CT (EOT-PCT) and PET/MR (EOT-PMR). Methods The IMS was determined based on the metabolism of normal intracranial structures, including gray matter, white matter, and cerebrospinal fluid. The EOT-PCT cohort was evaluated using the IMS and commonly used Deauville score (DS). Another cohort of patients who underwent the EOT-PMR was used to validate the accuracy of the IMS. Results In total, 83 patients were included in the study (38 in PET/CT cohort, and 45 in PET/MR cohort). The area under the curve (AUC) values of the IMS for predicting PFS and OS were superior to those of the DS. When patients in the PET/CT cohort were stratified into five groups (respectively labeled IMS 1–5), three groups (IMS1-2, IMS 3–4, and IMS 5), or two groups (IMS1-3 and IMS4-5; IMS 1–4 and IMS 5), a higher IMS score was significantly correlated with poorer PFS and OS (p

Abstract Background Correctly diagnosing and accurately distinguishing mycoplasma pneumonia in children has consistently posed a challenge in clinical practice, as it can directly impact the prognosis of affected children. To address this issue, we analyzed chest X-rays (CXR) using various deep learning models to diagnose pediatric mycoplasma pneumonia. Methods We collected 578 cases of children with mycoplasma infection and 191 cases of children with virus infection, with available CXR sets. Three deep convolutional neural networks (ResNet50, DenseNet121, and EfficientNetv2-S) were used to distinguish mycoplasma pneumonia from viral pneumonia based on CXR. Accuracy, area under the curve (AUC), sensitivity, and specificity were used to evaluate the performance of the model. Visualization was also achieved through the use of Class Activation Mapping (CAM), providing more transparent and interpretable classification results. Results Of the three models evaluated, ResNet50 outperformed the others. Pretrained with the ZhangLabData dataset, the ResNet50 model achieved 80.00% accuracy in the validation set. The model also showed robustness in two test sets, with accuracy of 82.65 and 83.27%, and AUC values of 0.822 and 0.758. In the test results using ImageNet pre-training weights, the accuracy of the ResNet50 model in the validation set was 80.00%; the accuracy in the two test sets was 81.63 and 62.91%; and the corresponding AUC values were 0.851 and 0.776. The sensitivity values were 0.884 and 0.595, and the specificity values were 0.655 and 0.814. Conclusions This study demonstrates that deep convolutional networks utilizing transfer learning are effective in detecting mycoplasma pneumonia based on chest X-rays (CXR). This suggests that, in the near future, such computer-aided detection approaches can be employed for the early screening of pneumonia pathogens. This has significant clinical implications for the rapid diagnosis and appropriate medical intervention of pneumonia, potentially enhancing the prognosis for affected children.

Abstract Objective To evaluate the efficacy of sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) in cT1/2N0 minor salivary gland cancer (mSGC) located within the oral cavity. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on patients diagnosed with cT1/2N0 oral mSGC, who were categorized into two groups based on neck management approaches. The impact of SLNB versus observation on regional control and overall survival was assessed using a Cox model. Results A total of 177 patients were included in the study, with 53 cases undergoing SLNB. All patients had at least one sentinel lymph node, with the majority having two sentinel lymph nodes. The sentinel lymph nodes were predominantly situated in level I, followed by level II. Four patients had positive sentinel lymph nodes, all of whom had primary tumors in the tongue or the floor of the mouth, and were classified as cT2 stage. This yielded a sensitivity and specificity of 100%, a false negative rate of 0%, and a negative predictive value of 100% for SLNB in predicting occult metastasis. In terms of regional control, SLNB exhibited a reduced hazard ratio of 0.90 (95% confidence interval: 0.64–0.96) compared to observation. However, SLNB did not confer a superior overall survival benefit compared to observation. Conclusion In patients with cT1/2N0 oral mSGC, SLNB proved to be both technically feasible and oncologically safe. When contrasted with observation, SLNB was associated with enhanced regional control, particularly recommending its use for cases of cT2 mSGC arising from the tongue or the floor of the mouth.

Abstract Suppression of energy disorders in the vertical direction of a photovoltaic device, along which charge carriers are forced to travel, has been extensively studied to reduce unproductive charge recombination and thus achieve high-efficiency perovskite solar cells. In contrast, energy disorders in the lateral direction of the junction for large-area modules are largely overlooked. Herein, we show that the micro-inhomogeneity characteristics in the surface lateral energetics of formamidinium (FA)-based perovskite films also significantly influence the device performance, particularly with accounting for the stability and scale-up aspects of the devices. By using organic amidinium passivators, instead of the most commonly used organic ammonium ones, the micro-inhomogeneity in the lateral energy landscapes can be suppressed, greatly improving device stability and efficiency of FA-based single-junction perovskite solar cells.

Objective To investigate the effect and potential molecular mechanism of PTGS2 on the prognosis of colon cancer patients. Methods The transcriptomic and proteomic data of pan-cancer were collected from TCGA, HPA, UALCAN and other databases, and the expression pattern and prognostic value of PTGS2 were analyzed by combining the clinical data such as staging, histology, survival time and so on. Based on GSEA, the biological functions which were significantly activated in patients with high expression of PTGS2 were identified and the colon cancer cell line SW480 was used as an example for in vitro validation. PTGS2 over-expressing cell strains were constructed, and the effect on cell proliferation was determined by CCK8 method. Different concen- trations of H2O2 were used to form gradient oxidative stress, and the changes in cell antioxidant capacity were detected. The regulatory mechanism was preliminarily verified by Western blot. Results The transcription and expression of PTGS2 were found to be significantly up-regulated in colon cancer patients (P＜0.05), and the increased expression of PTGS2 was associated with an increased mortality risk (P＜0.05). Data analysis and in vitro experiments showed that over-expression of PTGS2 may promote the proliferation of colon cancer cells by activating the mTOR pathway. The antioxidant effect of cells was regulated by up-regulating oxidative stress regulatory proteins SOD2 and NRF2. Conclusions PTGS2 is a potential risk factor for colon cancer and its over-expression promotes cell proliferation, enhances cell antioxidant effect and is associated with poor prognosis of colon cancer patients.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa causes high morbidity and mortality in nosocomial infections, and newly approved antibiotics have been declining for decades. A green and universal deprotonation-driven strategy is used to screen the guanylic acid-metal ion coordination polymer nanoparticles (GMC), instead of the failure of binding occurs when specific metal ion participation. We find that the precise pH-dependent oxidase-like activity of GMC-2 orchestrates a duple symphony of immune modulation for Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilm infections. Specifically, GMC-2-mediated reactive oxygen species (ROS) regulation triggers mitochondrial dysfunction and releases damage-associated molecular patterns, engaging pattern recognition receptors and resulting in endogenous innate immune activation. Meanwhile, GMC-2-triggered ROS generation in a mildly acidic biofilm environment destroys the biofilm, exposing exogenous pathogen-associated molecular patterns. GMC-2 cannot cause resistance for Pseudomonas aeruginosa compared with conventional antibiotics. In an infected implant mouse model, Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms were effectively eliminated by GMC-2-mediated triggering of innate and adaptive immunity. These findings provide a universal approach for facilitating the binding of biomolecules with metal ions and highlight the precise ROS-regulating platform plays a critical role in initiating endogenous and exogenous immune activation targeted for bacterial biofilm infection.

Knowledge about the effect of different prostate biopsy approaches on the prostate cancer detection rate (CDR) in patients with gray-zone prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is limited. We performed this study to compare the CDR among patients who underwent different biopsy approaches and had rising PSA levels in the gray zone. Two hundred and twenty-two patients who underwent transrectal prostate biopsy (TRB) and 216 patients who underwent transperineal prostate biopsy (TPB) between June 2016 and September 2022 were reviewed in this study. In addition, 110 patients who received additional targeted biopsies following the systematic TPB were identified. Clinical parameters, including age, PSA derivative, prostate volume (PV), and needle core count, were recorded. The data were fitted via propensity score matching (PSM), adjusting for potential confounders. TPB outperformed TRB in terms of the CDR (49.6% vs 28.3%, P = 0.001). The clinically significant prostate cancer (csPCa) detection rate was not significantly different between TPB and TRB (78.6% vs 68.8%, P = 0.306). In stratified analysis, TPB outperformed TRB in CDR when the age of patients was 65–75 years (59.0% vs 22.0%, P < 0.001), when PV was 25.00–50.00 ml (63.2% vs 28.3%, P < 0.001), and when needle core count was no more than 12 (58.5% vs 31.5%, P = 0.005). The CDR (P = 0.712) and detection rate of csPCa (P = 0.993) did not significantly differ among the systematic, targeted, and combined biopsies. TPB outperformed TRB in CDR for patients with gray-zone PSA. Moreover, performing target biopsy after systematic TPB provided no additional benefits in CDR.

Abstract Molecular ferroelectrics have made breakthrough progress in intrinsic piezoelectric response that can be on par with advanced inorganic piezoelectric ceramics. However, their successful applications in high-density energy harvesting and self-powered flexible devices have been great challenge, owing to the low elastic moduli, intrinsically brittle, and fracture proneness of such material systems under mechanical loading. Here, we have developed a flexible porous composite piezoelectric material by using soft thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) and molecular ferroelectric materials. Benefiting from the porous structure of TPU, the flexible piezoelectric composites enable effectively large doping ratio (50%) of [Me3NCH2Cl]CdCl3 (TMCM-CdCl3) and highly efficient stress absorption, coupled with the excellent piezoelectric properties of TMCM-CdCl3, to realize a superior power density (636.9 µW cm−2 or 1273.9 µW cm−3). This output is 2000 times higher than that of flexible piezoelectric materials represented by poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF). We believe that the outstanding performance of the porous composite piezoelectric material would pave a feasible way for real industrial applications of molecular ferroelectrics.

Abstract The potential benefit of neoadjuvant toripalimab plus axitinib in cases with clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) and inferior vena cava tumor thrombus (IVC-TT) remains unclear. NEOTAX was a phase 2 study to investigate the efficacy and safety of neoadjuvant toripalimab plus axitinib in patients with ccRCC and IVC-TT (ChiCTR2000030405). The primary endpoint was the down-staging rate of IVC-TT level. Secondary endpoints included change in TT length, response rate, percentage change in surgical approach, surgical morbidity, progression-free survival (PFS), safety, and biomarker analyses. In all, 25 patients received study treatment, 44.0% (11/25) patients had a reduction in thrombus level, and none experienced an increase in Mayo level. The median change in tumor thrombus length was −2.3 cm (range: −7.1 to 1.1 cm). Overall, 61.9% (13/21) patients experienced changes in surgical strategy compared with planned surgery, three patients experienced major complications. The median PFS was 25.3 months (95% CI: 17.0-NE). The 1-year PFS was 89.1% (95% CI: 62.7–97.2). No any of grade 4 or 5 treatment-related adverse event was identified. Biopsy samples of non-responders exhibited increased T cytotoxic cell infiltration, but these cells were predominantly PD-1 positive. Biopsy samples of responders exhibited lower T helper cells, however, their subtype, regulatory T cells remained unchanged. In surgical samples of the TT, non-responders exhibited increased CD8T_01_GZMK_CXCR4 subset T cells. NEOTAX met preset endpoints proving that toripalimab in combination with axitinib downstages IVC-TT in a significant proportion of patients leading to simplification in the procedure of surgery.

Abstract Objectives Helping residents select nutrient-dense foods is a strategy to improve their diet quality. However, communication based on the nutrient-dense foods as a positive attribute has not been widely used in nutritional education. This study aimed to develop an educational tool based on the picture and guidance of “Chinese food guide pagoda (2022) “, extend it with the concept of nutrient density, and investigate its acceptance by Chinese residents from Henan province. Methods Three examples (one-day diet with high, medium, and low nutrient-rich food (NRF) 9.2 score, an indicator for evaluating dietary nutrient density) were designed for developing a dietary nutrient density educational tool. A self-designed questionnaire was conducted to investigate the acceptance of the “dietary nutrient density educational tool” among college students from Henan province on the basis of the theory of planned behavior. Results Among the three one-day diets used in the tool, with the decrease in the NRF9.2 score, the energy intake increased from 1686 kcal to 2363 kcal, the dietary fat-to-energy ratio increased from 28 to 42%, and the mean adequacy ratio (MAR) decreased from 0.97 to 0.87. A total of 851 college students completed the acceptance questionnaire. The average score of the acceptance was 4.07, with a total score of 5. This study showed that resident’s intention to use the tool was correlated with family residence, perceptual behavior control, and subjective norms. These three factors accounted for 83.5% of the variation in behavior intention. Conclusion To encourage residents choosing healthier foods, a dietary nutrient density educational tool was developed to expanding the current instructional tool—the Chinese food guide pagoda (2022). The acceptance questionnaire survey revealed that residents had good acceptance of the tool, and family residence, perceptual behavior control, subjective norms may strongly contribute to their acceptance and the intention to use of the tool.

ABSTRACT Purpose: We reported, as a referral center in prostate cancer, our perspectives and experience performing Telesurgery using robotic surgery and 5G network. Material and methods: We described and illustrated the Telesurgery applications and outcomes to treat a patient with prostate cancer located 1300 kilometers away from the surgeon (Beijing-Harbin) in China. We used the Edge Medical Robot (MP1000) in November 2023 in a 71-year-old patient with Gleason 6 (ISUP 1) in 8 cores from 13, PSA of 14 ng/dL, and clinical stage cT2a. MRI described a PIRADS 5 nodule on the left peripheral zone at the base, and 20gr prostate. We described details about the connection between centers, perioperative outcomes, and our perspectives as a referral center in prostate cancer. Results: We had no delays, or problems with network connection between the centers. The procedure was performed in 60 minutes, with no intra- or postoperative complications. Estimated blood loss was 100 mL. The patient was ambulating soon after anesthesia recovery. Final pathology described a Gleason 6 (ISUP 1) involving the left base and left seminal vesicle, negative surgical margins, and no lymph node involvement (pT3bN0). The patient was continent soon after catheter removal (7 days). Conclusion: As technological progress introduced novel robotic platforms and high-speed networks, the concept of Telesurgery became a tangible reality while 5G technology solved latency and transmission concerns. However, with these advancements, ethical considerations and regulatory frameworks should underline the importance of transparency and patient safety with responsible innovation in the field.

Abstract We propose a hybrid inflationary scenario based on eight-flavor hidden QCD with the hidden colored fermions being in part gauged under U(1) B−L . This hidden QCD is almost scale-invariant, so-called walking, and predicts the light scalar meson (the walking dilaton) associated with the spontaneous scale breaking, which develops the Coleman-Weinberg (CW) type potential as the consequence of the nonperturbative scale anomaly, hence plays the role of an inflaton of the small-field inflation. The U(1) B−L Higgs is coupled to the walking dilaton inflaton, which is dynamically induced from the so-called bosonic seesaw mechanism. We explore the hybrid inflation system involving the walking dilaton inflaton and the U(1) B−L Higgs as a waterfall field. We find that observed inflation parameters tightly constrain the U(1) B−L breaking scale as well as the walking dynamical scale to be ~ 109 GeV and ~ 1014 GeV, respectively, so as to make the waterfall mechanism worked. The lightest walking pion mass is then predicted to be around 500 GeV. Phenomenological perspectives including embedding of the dynamical electroweak scalegenesis and possible impacts on the thermal leptogenesis are also addressed.
