A cardinal obstacle to performing quantum-mechanical simulations of strongly-correlated matter is that, with the theoretical tools presently available, sufficiently-accurate computations are often too expensive to be ever feasible. Here we design a computational framework combining quantum-embedding (QE) methods with machine learning. This allows us to bypass altogether the most computationally-expensive components of QE algorithms, making their overall cost comparable to bare Density Functional Theory (DFT). We perform benchmark calculations of a series of actinide systems, where our method describes accurately the correlation effects, reducing by orders of magnitude the computational cost. We argue that, by producing a larger-scale set of training data, it will be possible to apply our method to systems with arbitrary stoichiometries and crystal structures, paving the way to virtually infinite applications in condensed matter physics, chemistry and materials science., Comment: Main text (6 pages, 4 figures ) and supplemental material (5 pages)

Dynamical mean field theory is used to study the quantum critical point (QCP) in the doped Hubbard model on a square lattice. The QCP is characterized by a universal scaling form of the self energy and a spin density wave instability at an incommensurate wave vector. The scaling form unifies the low energy kink and the high energy waterfall feature in the spectral function, while the spin dynamics includes both the critical incommensurate and high energy antiferromagnetic paramagnons. We use the frequency dependent four-point correlation function of spin operators to calculate the momentum dependent correction to the electron self energy. Our results reveal a substantial difference with the calculations based on the Spin-Fermion model which indicates that the frequency dependence of the the quasiparitcle-paramagnon vertices is an important factor., Comment: 5 pages, 5 figures

We study the evolution of magnetic excitations in the disordered two-dimensional antiferromagnet Sr2Ir1-xRuxO4. A gigantic magnetic gap greater than 40 meV opens at x = 0.27 and increases with Ru concentration, rendering the dispersive magnetic excitations in Sr2IrO4 almost momentum independent. Up to a Ru concentration of x = 0.77, both experiments and first-principles calculations show the Ir Jeff = 1/2 state remains intact. The magnetic gap arises from the local interaction anisotropy in the proximity of the Ru disorder. Under the coherent potential approximation, we reproduce the experimental magnetic excitations using the disordered Heisenberg antiferromagnetic model with suppressed next-nearest neighbor ferromagnetic coupling., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

We show that the colossal thermoelectric power, $S(T)$, observed in the correlated semiconductor FeSb$_2$ below 30\,K is accompanied by a huge Nernst coefficient $\nu(T)$ and magnetoresistance MR$(T)$. Markedly, the latter two quantities are enhanced in a strikingly similar manner. While in the same temperature range, $S(T)$ of the reference compound FeAs$_2$, which has a seven-times larger energy gap, amounts to nearly half of that of FeSb$_2$, its $\nu(T)$ and MR$(T)$ are intrinsically different to FeSb$_2$: they are smaller by two orders of magnitude and have no common features. With the charge transport of FeAs$_2$ successfully captured by the density functional theory, we emphasize a significantly dispersive electron-relaxation time $\tau(\epsilon_k)$ due to electron-electron correlations to be at the heart of the peculiar thermoelectricity and magnetoresistance of FeSb$_2$., Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures

We investigate the transport properties of a correlated metal within dynamical mean field theory. Canonical Fermi liquid behavior emerges only below a very low temperature scale $T_{FL}$. Surprisingly the quasiparticle scattering rate follows a quadratic temperature dependence up to much higher temperatures and crosses over to saturated behavior around a temperature scale $T_{sat}$. We identify these quasiparticles as constituents of the hidden Fermi liquid. The non-Fermi liquid transport above $T_{FL}$, in particular the linear-in-$T$ resistivity, is shown to be a result of a strongly temperature dependent band dispersion. We derive simple expressions for resistivity, Hall angle, thermoelectric power and Nernst coefficient in terms of a temperature dependent renormalized band structure and the quasiparticle scattering rate. We derive a general formalism for evaluating the high-frequency limit of the thermoelectric power of strongly correlated materials, which can be straightforwardly implemented in available first principles LDA+DMFT programs. We explore this formalism using model Hamiltonians and we investigate the validity of approximating the static thermoelectric power $S_0$, by its high-temperature limit, $S^*$. We point out that the behaviors of $S^*$ and $S_0$ are qualitatively different for a correlated Fermi liquid near the Mott transition, when the temperature is in the coherent regime. When the temperature is well above the coherent regime, e.g., when the transport is dominated by incoherent excitations, $S^*$ provides a good estimation of $S_0$., Comment: 23 pages
